The 10 Best Restaurants In Atlantic City 2024

"There’s almost always ‘90s R&B music playing in Kelsey’s, and that’s only one of the reasons to come to this laid-back comfort food restaurant. The soul food options you’ll find at weekend brunch, like shrimp and grits or chicken and waffles, will revive you after a long night of partying—plus fuel you up to persevere through whatever else Atlantic City throws your way. Kelsey’s is also the type of place that’s filled with energy on a Sunday morning, but low-key enough to bring a date for dinner. Just make sure to reserve ahead of time, as tables can be tough to come by. " - anne cruz

Atlantic City Bars & Restaurants For When You're Not Trying To Party Party

"Whether your evening ended with late-night discussions of how the TikTok algorithm knows you better than your significant other or a sensible 11pm nightcap and face mask, you’ll want to make your way to Kelsey’s for the soul food brunch buffet in the morning. Tap into the party spirit once more and vibe to ‘90s R&B or whatever the DJ is spinning with a mimosa in hand. While some people will be dancing at their tables or in the aisles, you’ll see others feasting on shrimp and grits with the gusto of a kid let loose in a candy shop—we support both journeys. Grab some chicken and waffles and prepare yourself for whatever else Atlantic City throws your way, whether you plan to drive home or stay another night to catch an Earth, Wind & Fire concert. " - anne cruz

My Husband and I had a FANTASTIC TIME here. It was our first time and upon entering the vibes were IMMACULATE. Our waiter’s name was Scott and he was SO AWESOME!! Super personable, super professional, and super kind. My Hubby and I came on a Wednesday to celebrate our anniversary and we were not disappointed. This place is everything and the food was DELICIOUS! I can’t wait to come back. We also had our picture taken, edited and framed in a cute little 5x7 frame and we were super happy with it. It was just a wonderful experience. Support this business.

Kelsey's in Atlantic City is a fantastic spot for a Sunday brunch! We rolled in around 11 AM and were seated immediately – no wait at all. The buffet was $46 and honestly, it was totally worth it. Our waitress was super attentive and kept checking on us, which was a nice touch. While the selection wasn't huge, with about 12 different trays of food, everything they offered was really good. My personal favorites were the Grits with shrimp gravy, the savory Lobster Cakes, and the perfectly spiced Spicy catfish. The Jerk Chicken was also incredibly flavorful and a definite highlight. They also have an omelet and pancake station where you can get your eggs cooked exactly how you like them. To top it all off, the DJ really set a great vibe for the whole place. I thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere!

Google
I came here craving some soul food and had passed by the other day and wanted to come back. I got a seat pretty quick at the bar. The menu is a scan code for your phone that was pretty cool. I got a sweet tea and the fish and shrimp platter with Mac and cheese and black eyes w rice. The black eyes were great with just enough salt and shreds of pork in it. The shrimp were great, nice seasoning and the white fish was good. They did a good job on removing almost all the bones. Now anyone that has read my post when it comes to Mac and cheese, they know I am a critic. This Mac and cheese was a disappointment. It had no cheese sauce and was more like scrambled eggs, either they curdled it or to much flour but bartender said they dont use a rue. Needless to say it was very dry. I added a pic of it. Bartender was super nice and the music was great.

Google
My husband took me for my birthday 🎂. They did not meet my high expectations for the Mac and cheese. I had the fried fish dinner with Mac and yams. The yams were delicious the flavor was so well balanced. Whoever is on the yams 🗣keep em there!!! My husband got the shrimp and grits. ABSOLUTELY delicious. The grits were creamy and the shrimp was perfectly cooked! The mango 🥭 long island had me tow up though ngl I don't even think I finish the drink LOL

Google
Kelsey's Atlantic City was absolutely amazing! All around great experience, phenomenal service and outstanding food! The service was quick and our server, Dom, was amazing! Menu is not overwhelming with a tight focus on the perfect Soul Food items. I started with their famous Corn Bread, some BBQ Wings and some Catfish bites and my entire was the Blackened Salmon with Black Eyed Peas on Rice and Broccoli. 100% satisfied... 100% true Soul Food Experience! I highly recommend it!

Google
Everything about this place is overrated, food was okay but the service was terrible. Even with the temperature outside being above 100F they made us stand in the sun, when asked if we can move to the shade, they didn’t let us. When entered we saw there was plenty of space to fit everyone in the queue and more. I wouldn’t say they have the best seafood I have ever eaten. The crab cakes were smelly and the shrimp too. Fish Tacos were the only good ones from the menu

Google
Nothing but good things to say about this place. Amazing and quick service, our server was very polite and considerate. We came in for brunch on Friday and we left more than satisfied. Delicious, homey food with great proportions that fill you up. Thank you guys so much, we had a great time and enjoyed our food. We will definitely be back to this Gem in Atlantic City, Nj.

Google
Fun, busy and some of the best soul food I ever had. We happened to walk in without a reservation and were seated within 15 mins on a thursday evening. The food was so good, the service was pretty good, they were busy but the servers were moving quickly. Live music made it hard to hear but the entertainers were talented and interesting. I’m definitely going back to my next stay in Atlantic City!

Yelp
Food always great but I prefer the other Restaurant with the open dining room more. .

Yelp
Kelsey's - A Must-Visit Black-Owned Gem in Atlantic City Kelsey's in Atlantic City is an absolute staple, delivering delicious food, great vibes, and exceptional service just steps from the boardwalk. From start to finish, our experience was top-tier, and it's safe to say we'll be back for more. Appetizers: We kicked things off with the Bang Bang Shrimp, cornbread, and wings--and wow, what a way to start! The cornbread was warm, soft, and just the right amount of sweet, making it an instant favorite. The wings were perfectly seasoned, with a crispy skin that made every bite worthwhile. As for the Bang Bang Shrimp, they were flavorful without being overpowering, and the bed of lettuce they came on complemented the dish beautifully. Entrées: For mains, we tried a little bit of everything: * Lobster special stuffed with pasta - rich, indulgent, and packed with flavor. * Snapper - while it was the least favorite at our table, it was still solid. * Cajun catfish with shrimp, mac & cheese, and yams - the seasoning on the catfish was spot on, and the sides were just as impressive. * Whiting fish with shrimp, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, and candied yams - every bite of this meal was soulful and satisfying. * Chicken tenders with fries and mac & cheese - simple but done right. Let's take a moment to appreciate the mac & cheese--this was hands down a 10/10, creamy, cheesy, and full of flavor. The collard greens were some of the best we've ever had, and the candied yams were absolute perfection. Drinks: We ordered the Kelsey's Flight, a Margarita, and a Cosmo. The flight definitely did its job, and while the strawberry margarita leaned a bit sweet, the classic margarita was perfectly balanced and refreshing. We were too full for dessert this time, but trust and believe we'll be back to try it! Huge shoutout to Ray for taking care of us--service was on point! If you're in Atlantic City, Kelsey's is a must-visit for a flavorful, soulful dining experience.

Yelp
$45 brunch on a Sunday. My friends and I went for breakfast, it's all you can eat which isn't bad; would be nice of it was including alcoholic drinks but, it does include regular juice and soft drinks. They had little designs for V-day. There's a huge bar, a stage area I guess for live music, and ample space. We were celebrating my friend bday. Our waitress Tanisha was attentive. As was the bus boys. There's a little parking lot that says, it's for staff only and a paid lot across for$5 bucks. I went over to the lunch table and had the shrimp and grits, the fried catfish, the Mac n cheese, the chicken dumpling, and the BBQ chicken. The waitress also brought over fried fish to the table. I also had an omelet made at the breakfast station. I must say the food was really good, everything I had did not disappoint. I really liked the shrimp and grits and fried catfish so I went for seconds. The lemonade was good and the ice tea tasted like real ice tea. The omelet was also good. My friend raced about the bubiscuits. The dj was on point. It was a good vibe. I would definitely reccomend it and go back.

Yelp
Nice family night out. Cold Black Friday in Atlantic City. I got the shrimp platter with Mac and cheese & greens. The shrimp were okay, I do like that they're real shrimp. A lot of restaurants faks it with their shrimp and that's not fair. Kelsey's didn't do that. I wish they'd have come out hotter temperature wise. They would've probably fixed that for me, I wasn't tripping on that! Sides were great. The drink was good. Reminds me of Slade's in Boston. Love to see family owned black spots hold it down in their communities. I'd give this spot another go. My pops' fish looked good!

Yelp
Found this spot on the way to someplace else- the smell outside was amazing and I am so glad we decided to come inside. They have a brunch buffet that is self serve. The buffet has a wide selection, including delicious grits, Cajun baked catfish, turkey sausage patties, corned beef hash (NOT canned!), fresh home made biscuits, shrimp in gravy, baked chicken, Mac and cheese, a fruit spread, and assorted pastries. This place is JUMPING! There is a DJ playing great songs, the vibe is so dope in here! I was able to order fresh fries whiting and sweet potato waffle! The service was great from the door! We were seated quickly, our drinks were brought to us promptly, and our empty plates were taken away immediately as well. I am looking forward to coming back here!

Yelp
My first time coming to Kelsey's the restaurant. I went to the storefront many times before they opened this location and was always pleased. I cannot say the same for this spot however. The ambiance in the restaurant is very dim, which I did enjoy. You had enough light to order and keep conversation. The server me and my group had was very sweet and friendly. My issue was the food. It was honestly a let down from the smaller location. My salmon was dry, but seasoned. My shrimp were about the same. I'm hoping to go back soon and get a better experience as I do believe in second chances!

Yelp
Was in AC a few months ago to celebrate my boy's birthday and the group decided that Kelsey's was a must. We arrived a few minutes after opening and we were able to snag a table for 8. The place was lively and pretty busy. There was confusion about if and when they take reservations. As we placed our orders, a live band was setting up. We started with drinks and apps before our entrees. The drinks were good, I would recommend the mango Long Island iced tea. The food on the other hand was just ok. Many of the sides were basic at best. There was the use of too much sugar especially in dishes that are usually more savory, like the collard greens and cabbage. My red snapper was bland. The Mac & Cheese and potato salads were a no for me. Our waitress graciously understood and returned them to the kitchen. The best dish was my friend's shrimp and salmon pasta. (I wish I opted for that) We ordered cake to sing happy birthday and they had no options available. Only pistachio, and if I'm honest it wasn't good or fresh. We ultimately enjoyed each other's company and had fun with the birthday boy. Worth trying for atmosphere and vibes. However, I suggest managing your expectations, your experience may be hit or miss. From the hostess, to the rules and then the food, I left feeling underwhelmed. Just A Note: There is a paid parking lot located diagonally across from the restaurant.

Edward D.

Yelp
I booked a reservation weeks in advance to take out my wife the day before Valentine's Day. We paid for childcare and were excited to go. I even got a notification about my reservation via phone and email and confirmed I was coming days before. When we arrive the place is closed. It had a sign saying they are doing some construction on just that day. Nobody reached to let us know despite us having reservations. There is no number to call. I texted the catering number but not response. I called a different location and was told a manager would call me but nothing happened. It was a horrible experience and ruined a special night planned. They did not care.

Yelp
When in AC always a fav! Had the shrimp and grits and its an oversized portion of velvety cheddar cheese grits toped with jumbo shrimp that has epic cajun flavors! Service was nice but waited over an hour to be seated! An AC gem!

Yelp
This place is simply good, really good. Nice vibe, upscale soul food with a great vibe at the tables or at the bar. Bartender was awesome, super friendly and didn't skimp when pouring. The food was very good and perfectly seasoned. The food also came out quickly, which was a major plus as well. Tons of option on the menu and they haven't disappointed yet.

Yelp
This place was on my radar for a while. I got a chance to pop in today. Excited and hungry. On Sunday is Brunch til 3. Brunch was 46.00, and it's all you can eat. Overall, the presentation was good. The selections were: Mac and cheese, fried chicken, biscuits, stuffed shells. Jambalaya, mashed potatoes, sausage, bacon eggs, fish- whiting. Also, an omelet station, etc. I tasted the shrimp and grits. It's very tasty. The stuffed shells lacked flavor but were edible. Everything else was over seasoned, and I felt my ankles swelling ate each bite. Mac and cheese were sitting too long. In addition I had whiting fish, fried chicken was OK. Jambalaya was too salty as well. Staff friendly and good music.
google avatar

Whitney W.

Yelp
The night was not off to a good start as the hostess was not very hospitable. We stayed and had spoke to the house manager, who wanted to change our perspective. She was kind and helpful. We were just coming in for happy hour which is discounted apps and $10 margs, martinis, and cosmos. We opted for martinis (peach and mango). They were delicious. We ordered an order of the tenders and wings. Our food came out hot and quick. They were so good! We got the buffalo flavor which was sweet and smoky. My husband didn't think they were hot enough but the bartender got him some hot sauce to spice them up! I saw someone eating the cornbread so of course I ordered some of that too! It was delicious!
google avatar

Janelle K.

Yelp
Top of the tier in all 3!!!! Food Service and Ambience!!! They still remain undefeated in the soul food industry
google avatar

Gina F.

Yelp
Kelsey's food is always delicious. Great portion sizes. I'm always a fan of their cornbread and catfish nuggets. I will say, if the waiter offers you the cornbread straight out, just know it isn't complimentary. Still worth it! I was disappointed that they didn't have mashed potatoes and no desserts available.

Yelp
We had reservations on Wednesday February 12 at 6pm. Kelsey's restaurant was in renovation and no one reached out. To tell us ot was closed. We are from Tennessee. This bad.

Yelp
We wanted to try authentic soul food and kelseys is the place to go when you are in atlantic city. Love the vibe and ambience of this place. Super welcoming and the food was delicious. My friend ordered the fried pork chops smothered in onion and gravy with collard greens and mac-n-cheese. I ordered the fried chicken with coleslaw and mac-n-cheese. We also ordered a flight of their drinks - SO strong - they're not playing around. These little shots had so much alcohol. The pork chops was soooooo goood. Crispy and seasoned to perfection. It was my first time trying stewed collard greens and I understand the hype now. It was so goood. Slight bitterness that went with all the fried food. The Fried chicken wings that I ordered was so heavenly. Absolutely best mac and cheese I ever had and it was a SIDE DISH. I was so impressed. The service was amazing. We sat right at the bar. Great place to chill, eat and watch your sport games. Can't wait to come back for the food alone! The live music was pumping too. We enjoyed it very much. Was our favorite memorable thing to do in Atlantic city in the 4 days we were here. Happy eating fellow yelpers!

Yelp
We made e a reservation so we didn't have to wait as I heard this place gets crowded fast. Upon our arrival, there was a small number of people in line. We were seated quickly and knew prior, we would be having the brunch buffet. The food did not disappoint, everything was delicious and flavorful. The grits prepared here are the best grits I've ever had in my life. The pancakes melted in your mouth. All the food items were displayed neatly and the business was ran with order. The waiters were very attentive and kind. I will most definitely be back here. Everything was delicious!

Yelp
I went here for my BIRTHDAY today. This is my first time coming here for Dinner. I'm not a fan. I love the brunch hands down. However, this dinner it's not my jam. I ordered Blackened Salmon with pasta. I received Blackened Salmon and rice with macaroni and cheese. My other 2 Party People ordered beef ribs, candy yams, and Mac and cheese. That was okay. The other person ordered Smothered pork chops and that was good. Yumm. ANOTHER NO NO WAS THEY SANG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME WITH NO CAKE. WHAT???????? NEVER HAVE THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME. NO SPARKLES, NO CAKE SMH....

Yelp
Great. Customer service. The food was delicious entertainment was spectacular Great for a date night

Tynika W.

Yelp
I have been coming here for a few years normally pretty good. Sometimes, I get it to go because I come alone to Atlantic City. I take an Uber there just a few minutes ago to be told they never did take out. I explained to the lady at the front area that I ordered at the bar before to go. She still said no. Smh. A wasted trip

Yelp

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at Kelsey's. The food was out of this world. The ambiance was perfectly matched. The service was on point. The live band was a beautiful bonus to an exuberant night out in Atlantic City.

Yelp
Went to this establishment on Father's Day during my trip to Atlantic City for my granddaughter graduation. I made reservations weeks prior to my coming there because I heard that walk ins usually had a long wait time. Was happy to say we were seated as soon as we arrived We did order appetizers of wings and The Cornbread basket. Both was really tasty. I ordered the fried shrimp and fish platter and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the entire meal. It was cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and the drinks, delicious. Only complaint was it took a long time to get the waiters attention to pay our bill. Other than that, I will return the next time I'm on the East coast.

Yelp
Lawd have mercy! There's a reason why there is a line out front at 5:00 pm on a Thursday. If you're looking for legit southern cuisine, look no further than Kelsey's. The 20 minute wait was well worth it. The menu has all the classics including fried catfish, fried chicken/waffles, pork/beef ribs, and also some southern bayou specialties such as shrimp and grits, etoufee and more. Food came out quickly and well presented. The portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Every bite of every dish made you want to slow down and savor the complex flavors of what you thought was a simple dish. A perfect exampe are the collard greens. The greens were perfectly seasoned and texture was neither too hard or too soft. The fries will also surprise you. The sauces that accompanied each dish seemed to be homemade and were delicious. You'll want to ask for extra. Those who like a little heat, their homemade hot sauce adds a little kick and tartness. Southern food can sometimes be heavy and greasy. Somehow Kelsey's fare comes across very light. Never did any dish make you feel guilty. The decor is warm and the staff are friendly. We didn't see desserts on the online menu but did see some cakes in the case as we walked out. A perfect closure to the meal could have been a slice of pecan pie and a coffee. Full bar is available. Tip: spacious parking lot across the street is available for $5 per spot. Also their are some house rules you should be aware of, see online menu. 20% tip is automatically added for bills over $100. I'd come back to Atlantic City just for another meal here!

OG Bobby J.

Yelp
I had a wonderful time and an excellent dining experience! I love the atmosphere and the live music. It was comfortable if you are dressed up or casual you would feel comfortable here. And the food was amazing! Both sides of my family are from the South. So I very rarely go out to "Soul Food " restaurants. This place was better than I thought possible. The fried whiting was the best I ever had! It was fresh and well seasoned. I paired it with true classics macaroni and cheese which was creamy with a tasty béchamel and savory collards with smoked turkey! Everything was top tier absolutely "Mic drop" delicious! And the owner and staff make sure that you have everything you need and can answer any questions you have. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Food was fantastic, the service was superb, the ambiance was great, prices are affordable, music was fantastic, I wanted to get up and dance.

Yelp
We went to Atlantic City to get away for a couple days total disaster. Besides that we found a good restaurant to have some dinner at and it was totally worth it. I've came to this same restaurant at least a good 10 years ago and I can still remember how good the food was. Going back 10 years later still did not disappoint everything was delicious the only thing we didn't care for was they're many rules of the menu can't find a picture but it was like they running a plantation field directing people just for coming in to their restaurant to eat. Other than that everything was truly delicious and our server was amazing. She really was attentive and made sure we were satisfied. The restaurant is pretty big and very spacious will definitely visit again.
google avatar

Amik M.

Yelp
Poor service. We were on the waiting list (the food honestly isn't the greatest, but we were in a rush and didn't want fast food) when I asked to use the restroom. The little guy working upfront told me that I couldn't use the restroom. We immediately walked out and took our business elsewhere. Rude, disrespectful and utterly unprofessional! If in AC, you're better off going to a buffet on the boardwalk.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Went there for dinner. There was a line outside of about 20ppl (we were walk-in's). They told us the wait would be 45min but we were inside & seated within 20min. Nice mood, low lighting and music. Nothing to aggressive being played. Great mix of songs. Tables all had tea candles on them, nice touch. Ordered chicken and waffles, fish and shrimp, collard greens, mac & cheese, & yams. The food was good. No complaints about the taste of the main dishes. The yams and mac & cheese wouldn't make my top 5 but I would eat them again. The syrup was very thick for the waffles which wasn't great & the chicken that comes with the waffles are wings, as opposed to other places that give you a quarter piece of chicken. All in all a great place to visit. Friendly staff and reasonable prices
google avatar

Bob L.

Yelp
We had a reservation for 5:30 but decided to walk in a little later to enjoy the live band. The wait was average for a Saturday night so we chose to sit at the bar and have our meal. The smothered turkey chops were fantastic. The establishment was spacious and the band on point.
google avatar

Josh T.

Yelp
This was my first time actually experiencing Kelsey's and they definitely lived up to the hype! I made reservations so I was seated upon arrival. The hosts and hostesses were very attentive. The ambiance was great the live Band was very entertaining. The food was good, some dishes better than others but overall we enjoyed our time.

Yelp
If you're ever in Atlantic City and want some soil food, stop by Kelsey's. Awesome customer service, great entertainment, and delicious soul food. They've never disappointed.

Cynthia H.

Yelp
I went here for brunch was visiting from out of town and wanted some soul food . The wait was 30 min .we paid for our food before eating . 46$ a person . Plus 20 percent tip. I was seated and greeted by a Server took drinks order. And told us to go to buffet. The food was pick over . There was no one monitoring the food . This was a big turn off . The food look like it was from the knight before . Who serves corn for breakfast? I seen no granola no yogurt, they had little piece of cake in a small pill cup .... The shrimps and grits no shrimp. I spoke to the greater my food was cold . You must have enough staff to operate your business and the management was rude told me I could get my money back . If you would took time and came to my table and evaluated the issue then u could made a decision. Never again . Your a black business get it together. I stayed at the hard rock and there was plenty of choice try to support u but no to rude

Yelp
They put their foot in it! The food was absolutely amazing. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Service was excellent as well. Thank you Dom! We enjoyed the Fried Whiting and Fried Catfish with Black Eye Peas, Mac & Cheese and Yam sides. A beer and Mango LI Iced Tea. Both fish options were seasoned and breaded differently to suit each fish. Most places would just bread everything in the same crumb, not this place they matched the seasoning to the fish. That was such a great delight. The restaurant is clean, the tables are spaced out nicely not crowded and they have tablecloths and cloth napkins. The music was a very pleasant back drop. Hello! Excellence at its best. This is a definite must when in Atlantic City. 10 out of 10

Shaniece D.

Yelp
The girl who was at the door with the red hat was disgusting! She never took a name or number from me. So how do you know who is next to be seated with about 40 people waiting to get in. I waited for 2 long hours to get in because she allowed a few people WHO HAD NO RESERVATIONS to go in before me! First and last time at this restaurant! UNBELIEVABLE. The sad part was one couple had to tell her that i was there before a lot of people who did go in.

Yelp
First thing you feel when you walk into this place is southern love. On a 3 day trip to Atlantic City, I heard Kelsey's is a great southern inspired restaurant. Boy did they not disappoint. Everyone was super friendly, I walked in and it felt family protested. The drinks were top tier, will definitely need to Uber as they're STRONG lol. If you have a strong love for Mac & cheese. Their crab Mac will have you in awe. I was never a beef short rib person, I prefer pork. But it was so tender & juicy, it fell right off the bone. I love me some good soul food and it took me back home with this one. When you want to get away from the casinos. Come to this restaurant right here and pleaseeeee. Order more to go!!

Yelp
I thought the catfish, collard greens and the black-eyes peas were very good! The drinks were really strong!

Yelp
Kelsey's brunch in Atlantic City is a soul food haven that will leave your taste buds singing. The fried chicken is crispy and juicy, the macaroni and cheese is rich and creamy, and the fried fish is perfectly seasoned. Pair it with their refreshing mimosa and margarita flights for a truly delightful experience. Don't miss it!

Yelp
Went on 2/15/25 w. Reservation and they didn't have most of what was on the menu. I requested Snapper, spouse requested Shrimp Chicken pasta and I ordered chicken wings as appetizer $16 and they bought out 8 flats and said that the appetizer they don't give wings we all know the difference and if I knew I was going to get 8 flats for $16 I would of not ordered. My son asked for sweet tea they bought it out and when he asked for a refill 1/2 hr later they didn't have anymore and said they don't know where that came from ummm not a good feeling. We had reservations for 9pm and was trying to contact them all day to see if we can arrive earlier and nobody answers so we arrived at 8 pm to be told I'm glad yall showed up earlier and I see why they was running out of food.

Yelp
Great food, service, and ambiance. Live music added to the dinning experience. Would definitely be back when I'm in the area.

Yelp
I had a wonderful time Celebrating my Birthday at Kelsey's with a delicious brunch with a group of friends. I made a reservation online through Yelp a few weeks in advance. The hostess was very patient and friendly. We paid in a advance prior to eating which was great for a large group as we did not have to debate about the bill at the end of our meal. The brunch was buffet style. There was a plethora of hot menu options. A-la-carte Belgium waffles and omelets. I opted for the omelet in efforts to get extra protein. Some of my friends enjoyed the Shrimp and grits. They raved about it. All the food was served warm and frequently replenished. The DJ was energetic and kept the guests grooving as they dined. I particularly like my sparkling mimosa as it had glitter in it. It was delicious and my first time trying it. I will definitely go back next time in Atlantic City. There is street parking and a parking lot across the street. Definitely recommended for some good soul food.

Yelp
I was really excited to experience this restaurant. I made reservations for Wednesday evening 2/12 @8pm. Upon arrival, the restaurant was completely closed. I received a message the day before to confirm the reservation and to get prepared for a dining experience and the restaurant be closed without notice is completely distasteful, unprofessional and unacceptable. But what should you expect from Black Owned Businesses these days?! Not to mention, I traveled from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I understand that circumstances arise and things happen but it should be common courtesy to inform parties of these issues so that they can plan accordingly. Good luck to everyone planning to visit this restaurant. This has left a terrible impression on me!

Yelp
Out of town for a conference in Atlantic City . Kelsey's identifies as Black owned and it's a soul food restaurant . I think they take walk-ins though I had reservations . Seated early for my reservation , the staff are friendly and music is playing loudly . Good vibe . This is the Pacific Avenue location . The menu has house rules ... can't remember too many of them other than you're limited to a 90 minute seating . I'm sure there's a reason for "house rules" cause someone must have violated them . Check out their website to see if you are cool with them . I ordered Shrimp and Grits and it was so good ! It had turkey bacon and turkey andouille sausage and was slightly spicy giving it the definite Creole vibe I was looking for . The serving was HUGE. My dish didn't come with sides . My friend has the BBQ Beef short ribs which were fall off the bone good ! I believe the dish came with 2 sides . Traditional sides like collards , Mac and cheese , potatoes , candied yams , rice etc. All the soul food favorites. There was a time in soul food restaurants corn bread came with your meal and now it's an appetizer . Go figure . It was delicious and it was a whole darn basket! Way more than necessary for 2 people . They do brunch - tried to get a reservation while I was in town and no can do but decided I didn't want to just walk in and wait . There's no parking lot here - it's street metered parking and I believe there is a parking lot close by . You will get towed even at night . I'm from Brooklyn so I know sketchy and AC is sketchy at night . This isn't too far from the convention center or Bally's but not near the Casinos where you could walk to the restaurant . There's also a sister restaurant Kelsey and Kim's that does only take out at a different location .

Yelp
Made reservations via Yelp . Please if you don't want to have a long wait MAKE RESERVATIONS. The ambiance was cool at dinner time why had live singing if you're into that .. We were seated close to the back in a tight spot which I didn't like and it took a very long time for us to be acknowledged . We were sitting for more than 40 mins which I find quite ridiculous... I had the catfish Mac and yams . My mom had whiting Mac and collard greens , my brother had wings mac and collard greens and my son had the chicken tenders and waffle . Starting with my food it was OK I wouldn't say I would get it again , the max was really good but the yams were way too sweet and the fish was a little undercooked because it was extremely gummy . . My son had the tenders and waffle which he said was tasty . The whiting my mom said was ok but had the same complaint of it being a little over breaded .. she said the collard greens were and Mac was really good . She said the greens had a little sugar but was over powering. My brother said the wings were pretty decent . Sb: A server dropped and slashed bbq sauce All over my brother very expensive clothes and didn't say anything until my mother made quite a big deal to the house manager . An apology was given and a piece of cake to try and smooth things over but honestly this kind of turned us off and we probably won't return .

Yelp
Made a reservation for a special dinner for my husband and I but received a text that my reservation was canceled and made to another day. I was confused because it was operating ours and when I did get to the restaurant it was closed. Very disappointing.
