Delicious dumplings from Sans Dumplings, it is a must try when you get to the vineyard! Did the wine tasting with the winemaker Johannes, it was a truly amazing experience for tasting lots of wonderful wine, and have a chance to understand the vineyards a lot better based on their soil type, sun exposure, and canopy management. Thank you so much for the delicious dumplings and incredible wines, lmelda & Johannes!

Google
Johannes’ wines can bat with the great cool climate wines of the world. Johannes’ viticulture and winemaking is easily among the most impressive in the finger lakes, and his wines are individually unique, incredibly dimensional, delicious, and ageable. The tasting experience is elevated, comfortable, personal, and is as technically deep as you want it to be. I cannot wait to visit again.

Johannes is one of the kindest and most informative winemakers. Tasting his wines and his wife Imelda’s dumplings are a magnificent experience!

Google
Super cozy tasting room and great experience. Was able to have a private tasting with the winemaker/owner, who was funny and did an awesome job walking through his winemaking philosophy. Tasted through 4 very different wines, and fell in love with his 2024 Pinot Blanc, which I ended up taking home.

Google
If you only have time to visit a few vineyards in FLX, make sure you make a reservation at Kemmeter Wines. Great wine starts with great grapes and the expression of the grape varietal, the climate in the year of harvest, terroir, and the passion of the winemaker. It is a true art form. Owner Johannes shows all of the above in the wines we sampled. I learned that different soil types vary in heat retention properties, hence giving the grapes a different quality in wine composition. These qualities can be depicted in the tasting: three Rieslings, all 2020 vintage having varying acidity/sweetness. Being a lover of Pinot, Johannes' passion for winemaking can be seen in the Pinot Noir Trio: a blend of three vintages (26% 2017, 28% 2019 and 46% 2020). This wine is elegant and showcases the delicate nature of the Pinot Noir grape perfectly. Visiting Kemmeter Wines was definitely a highlight of our trip!

Google
The best of the best. There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe the elegance, beauty and balance of Johannes Reinhardt's Kemmeter wines. At Kemmeter, "quality over quantity" isn't a slogan, it is a BELIEF that guides every decision made by the passionate winemaker. No matter how much you think you know about wine, Johanne's the consummate artisan will teach you something new. Plan your Finger Lakes trip around this tasting. Reservations required and well worth it.

Google
Was a fabulous experience to be able to discuss the wines with the winemaker. Wines are spectacular. Among the best Reisling to be found in the Finger Lakes. A must stop for anyone looking for best wine.

Google
This is our family's go-to winery. Great atmosphere. The owner is passionate about his craft. The San San ages very well. We let the bottle in the pic rest since 2016. We just opened it August 13th 2023. It was so smooth and delightful we picked a 2020 to rest a while longer.

Yelp
This is with worth the hype. Owner created an intimate and wonderful atmosphere. Reservation only. $20/pp but $12/pp if you return I think. I can promise that you will return. The best in the area and one of my all time favorite tastings. Outstanding rieslings.

Yelp
What a jewel of a vineyard in the FLX area by Seneca Lake. If you like Rieslings this place is for you. The wines reminded me of what you would get in Germany and the owner is from Germany. This place is by appointment only as Johann the owner is pouring for you. They just came out with a Pinot Noir within the last few weeks (around late March 2022, we visited on 4/9/22) This was excellent and rather smooth. The Rieslings go from slightly sweet but not really to some dry ones and the nose on them are really lovely. Basically you will taste about four to five wines only and they are worth the try. He's really passionate about the wines and it shows. You will learn about things. Tastings basically are by donation only and it goes to charity. If you are hoping to find these wines at a local wine shop.. good luck cause you won't, also they have no social media presence other than a website. So if you want a wine and you are vacillating on it don't cause this is the only place you can get them. His wife Imelda, owns San's Dumplings on the vineyard site (they are open seasonally and the dumplings are fabulous and you can buy a bottle or two with your dumplings while at the dumpling place) If you have a chance, make an appointment and come. My friend and I had a really lovely experience and enjoyed the wines. Parking on site. Give them a whirl it's worth your time.

Yelp
We cannot say enough about this place, and how wonderful it is. This was the very last wine over here. We tried out of our five day trip of sipping in the finger lakes. How did we find this place? We happen to be at a hotel we're all the wine makers in the area we're having a party. When we ask them who made the best wine displays continually came up. As we continue to trip from winery to winery, he would always ask who is the best winery in the area. Everyone would always say this place. It is by far the smallest Winery we visited... but don't let that fool you. You will meet a humble man and his Hummer wife.... But don't let that fool you... you'll see a small building, which is the tasting room and another small building which serves the most delicious dumplings I have ever had... but don't let that for you... You'll just see a small acreage of vines maybe 10:15 acres... but don't let that for you... The wine speaks for itself.... The wine is delicately made with love and care, and it is the best wine in the region. I would say as much as we love the area, this winery would be the reason why we would come back to the finger lakes. The wind is amazing! And priced well below market value. It is delicious.... We had the Reds, we had the riesling... everyone was better than the next! We look forward to the next time! ***You can feel something spiritual at this place... next time I will ask the owner what it is. But there's something sweet that looks over this place!

Yelp
This is a one of a kind winery in the finger lakes region. Johannes, the owner/winemaker/vineyard manager will take you through a unique tasting experience that will expand the way you both think about and enjoy wine. His wines change as he has inventory available. His production is limited, so when you find a bottle you like you should buy it. I highly recommend making an appointment to visit when you are ready to see something more than the typical trail wineries .

Yelp
We finally planned ahead for this summer's FLX trip and got a reservation at Kemmeter! Well worth the wait and s new must do each time we visit. We sampled the chicken and pork dumplings before our tasting (made to order, HOT, delicious), then headed to our tasting with ~3 other parties. Our tasting was 5 Rieslings and I loved getting to compare the different vintages and even how different the wine tastes from a newly opened bottle vs. already open for some time. Johannes was a fun host, offering his knowledge while encouraging everyone's tastes and opinions and emphasizing that wine tasting is a personal experience. We walked away with 5 bottles and will definitely return at least once a year.

Yelp
Riesling lovers rejoice! This place is for you. We were fortunate enough to try 5 Rieslings and a gewürztraminer. The owner Johann poured the wines himself. It was amazing to have the opportunity to listen to him talk about the grapes, the vineyard, and his passion for it. The wines were excellent. I particularly enjoyed the 2019 Riesling, the 2019 San San and the 2020 San San Finesse. The gewurtz was more complex than others I've had from the area. All of the bottles were reasonably priced around $28-$36. This winery was a highlight of the region for us. It was such an intimate experience. I relished the opportunity to speak directly with the winemaker and learn his vision. Because this is a small operation you will definitely need a reservation, so be sure to plan ahead.

Yelp
By far, one of the best wine tasting experiences my wife and I have had in a long time. The wine is exceptional! Tastings are by appointment only, which affords the owner the ability to really cater to his guests; giving you a personal touch to the tasting. We'll be back.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I discovered this gem on a weekend getaway to the Finger Lakes. I recommend anyone with even a casual interest in Riesling make a reservation for a tasting. My girlfriend and I lie on the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to the sweetness. It is not uncommon for one of us to enjoy a particular winery more than the other. We both were able to find bottles for our particular tastes to bring home to enjoy. I don't claim to be a wine pro by any means but having a tasting at this vineyard in my opinion, is a one hour Master class into Riesling Wine. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable with his craft. The tasting takes place in a intimate setting and you will make new acquaintances with the other individuals in your party by the end of your tasting. I thought I knew about the wine making on a high level but I walked away with even greater appreciation for the craft. Finally, if you are hungry afterwards, the owner's wife makes excellent dumplings (Sans Dumplings) that I highly recommend!

Yelp
The BF and I had a wonderful wine tasting with Johannes. It was different from any other tasting we did and a really unique experience. We sat with two other couples and enjoyed the conversation. Johannes was very knowledgeable and good about making sure everyone had a chance to contribute. Wine was really interesting and we bought several bottles. We also had the chance to enjoy the dumplings sold next door (made by his wife, if I remember correctly) after our tasting and they were delicious. We're heading back to FLX this fall and plan to return to Kemmetter!

Yelp
Probably the best wine tasting experience I've ever had. The winemaker/owner does all the tastings himself. Johannes was incredibly engaging; he provided information about his vineyard and wines, and was also genuinely interested in our group. Bonus: his wife has an outstanding dumpling shop on-site! Looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
An absolute must visit place if you're in the area. Wines are fantastic, and if you're lucky enough to be able to book a tasting with the owner, you won't regret it. Super passionate about wine and their process, incredibly informative and welcoming. The cherry on top is the absolutely amazing dumplings and baos prepared by the winemakers wife. Best dumplings I've ever had. Can't say enough good things about this place.

Yelp
Amazing dumplings! I ordered the lamb and my wife had the salmon. Sauces were on the side and extremely yummy! Spicy and non spicy. Made to order and comes with rice and nice salad if you like. Not to mention the amazing view. 5-star service. Look forward to coming again.

Yelp
We had a great time tasting wines at Kemmeter. The tasting room fits about 10 - 12 people comfortably and the owner, Johannes is super knowledgeable, generous and hospitable. You truly feel like a welcomed guest. Johannes himself is from Germany and pretty much grew up in the wine making business so it was pretty interesting to see how he works with the grapes of the finger lakes region and how the wines taste like. Kemmeter specializes in rieslings, but the pinot bianco and rosé we tasted were also very good. The wines we tasted here were light and enjoyable and only slightly sweet. What's also great about Kemmeter is that the proceeds from the wine tastings are donated to orphans. I don't believe they take walk ins, so be sure to make reservations for a tasting!

Yelp
My new favorite winery. Johannes is a very talented winemaker and storyteller. The tastings are small and intimate and after spending just a few moments with him you can feel how passionate he is about every aspect of winemaking. When we arrived, a little early, we were greeted by two adorable and friendly cats that were sitting on the front porch. They both made their way over to us as we waited a few minutes for the other tasting to finish. After the other group was on their way, we were greeted and invited into the tasting room where our wine journey began. The tasting room is a smaller building in the middle of the winery a short distance from their home. As we started to sample the wines the stories began. We learned the history of the winery, how he came to be living in the Finger Lakes, and most importantly how much he cares for the vineyard. The wines here are on the dryer side, mostly Rieslings, but don't let that stop you from coming here. There were four wines when we stopped by each of them was perfection. Sonero a Rose of Pinot Noir that changed my entire perspective on Rose... a new Estate Riesling that I would drink all summer if I could afford, and SanSan a sweeter Riesling that will make perfect any summer day. I'm glad this was one of the last places we visited during our trip. When it comes to food I tend to prefer simpler recipes with quality ingredients to complex ones that mask problems, and as such during our trip, I began wondering if there was such a thing as a minimalist winemaker one that grows the finest product and uses as few techniques as possible to bring out the flavor of the wine. Needless to say, this is that place and if you are in the area definitely book a tasting here.

Yelp
As a frequent visitor to this wine region, I've tasted many wines. That said, this is hands down a 5 star spot. Johannes is a craftsman - and maybe bit of a perfectionist - and his effort shows in these wines. They are unique and one more delicious than the next. However, this is not a stop for everyone. If you want sweeter, easier wines, look elsewhere. Same for those looking for a party. This is a serious tasting where you will learn and take small sips. It won't be quick. But I guarantee you will leave a fan. The wines are top top tier. My family was treated like family here and we will be back.

Yelp
Unbelievable gem of a winery... where am I? These wines are off the charts for incredibly sophisticated palates. Hard to leave without a case. The rose, like no other.. gives me good bumps just anticipating having it. As a strict Provence rose fan.. this one changed me. Oh my his Pinot Blanc.. bam!!! Worth every penny.. savor every drop... Also the Sonero.. perfect white.. like a table white from heaven... SanSan - the Rieslings... from his vineyard is excellent - dry and tight.. his Sheldrake bounty is a nice sweeter option. Call ahead for an appointment with Johannes or Imelda. If you are coming for the tasting of impeccable wines this place and these people do not disappoint.
google avatar

Yelp
Their Riesling is very good, we purchased the driest offering available. Additionally their dumplings are a must. Make sure you call ahead to place your order. They are amazing!
google avatar

Cal S.

Yelp
Johannes is an exceptional host and wine maker. His passion and attention to detail are clearly exemplified in each of his wines. Exceptional quality and these are some of the best Rieslings I have had the pleasure of drinking. As others have noted you will learn a lot about wine as you sip and enjoy the view. The intimate tasting is a great touch. I've been there twice and will go back when the next year is released. Make an appointment you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This is my favorite winery on the map. The wines are outstanding. The tastings are done by Johannes or his wife Imelda and are considerably more intimate than what you would typically see. For this reason, all tastings are by appointment only. Their knowledge on wines is immense and they are clearly passionate about what they do. Every time I have gone to a tasting, I have learned more about wine making. Amazing!

Yelp
I highly recommend Kemmeter Wines. You need to make a reservation in advance, but it's well worth it. Johannes is so kind and welcoming, and really takes the time to spend with you and tell you about the wine. All of the wines (white and rose) were excellent. My favorite was the Pinot blanc and the San San. Very special wines and a very intimate atmosphere. Plus, there is no wine tasting fee - you can pay what you'd like and it's all donated. definitely check out this winery when in the finger lakes!

Theresa Z.

Yelp
I can't finish my last bottle of your wine without saying it is the smoothest velviest wine I have ever had. It is a white, so I don't expect the full body of a red, but I appreciate the total skill it took to produce this flavorful cloud in a bottle. My friends, Lynne and Bill who were owners of a B&B in Canandagua, brought me to your place while I was visiting in 2017. It was a memorable experience ( your tasting experience is so personal) and I bought several bottles of different varieties, which I both drank alone and shared with others over the years. I have visited many wineries all over the country (I'm 70 and have a lot of miles on my butt) and I remember yours most vividly. I couldn't drink the last drop without saying Thank You!
google avatar

Cassie A.

Yelp
Appointment only tastings make this stop well worth it. Johannes, the wine maker himself, is personally handling the tasting which meant he could literally answer any question we had about how the wine was made. Love that he does not want to commercialize this winery because he wants to maintain the quality of the wines. Currently he only had whites available (Pinot noir to be available in the future) and though I am typically a red wine drinker, I will say these whites were amazing!
google avatar

Stew L.

Yelp
Tastings at Kemmeter are by appointment only but are absolutely worth the effort! The owner/winemaker personally performs the tasting service in a very small, private tasting venue. He is supremely knowledgeable and very personable and made us feel at ease - ended up learning a ton about the process and the owner's winemaking philosophy. Without a doubt the highlight of a tasting trip - make sure to check Kemmeter out if you're planning a visit to the West Seneca wineries.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best tasting experiences in the Finger Lakes and absolutely worth the effort to secure an appointment with Johannes. My wife and I have been lucky to taste in California, Oregon, Washington and several places outside the US, but this was one of the most Informative experiences we have had. Johannes is a master who takes exceptional pride and care in his work, and that comes through clearly in his wines (a Rose, Pinot Blanc, and three Rieslings)--of which he only produces around 1,000 cases annually. If you are serious about wine do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment the next time you are in the area!

Laura R.

Yelp
It may not look like much from the road, but this was one of our favorite stops. The tasting room is beautiful. Johannes is so relaxed and genuine about his work. He clearly takes winemaking quite seriously and is attentive to the details. Highly recommend making an appointment for tastings here as it will be a personal, relaxing experience you won't regret.

Yelp
This was our first stop on a weekend away in the Finger Lakes - a great place to start! Tastings by reservation only which guarantees 1:1 time with Johannes, the wine maker to learn the ins and outs of each vintage. The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars is that Kemmeter doesn't do any red - I was served 3 Rieslings, 2 other white and a Rose made with Pinot. While they were all delicious, I personally look to a winery for a little more variety!

Dr. Howard B. F.

Yelp
Having grown up in the Finger Lakes and a resident of Keuka Lake, I have lived the growth of the independent artisinal wineries which now can match some world class vintage product. Every year we host fellow wine lovers summer and fall to tour, taste and judge albeit temporarily slowed of late because of the dastardly Covid. I need not repeat the acurrate descriptions of the unique personal experience of a tasting as provided at Kemmeter Wines, it reminds me of our first visit with Dr.Konstatin Frank the father of the modern vinter era here in upstate New York. I have waited two years to review to be sure our first impression was spot on. The oldest wine in my personal cellar was a 1943 Chateau Lafite Rothschild savoured many years ago, but our go to wines for lakeside dinners or often Moselle Reislings and now some local wines are proudly served and enjoyed. As I write this we are finishing a very good 2018 and the best scratch made dumplings which are new this year and available Thursday -Saturday. The splendid fall colors set the stage for the ride up the drive through the vines and the current harvest of the grapes. If you plan this gem will be your reward. A visit to the Dumpling Kichen, new this year, is available without a scheduled tasting appointment. 2020 the "the year of the virus" has been a time of stress, isolation, chaous and restricted travel. Restaurants, espeacially our unique small ethnic family style favorites have been devastated with so many closed permanently. Thus finding an outstanding new asian destination, worth a trip, who knew!; right in the heart of the West Seneca Lake Wine Trail. We are avid fans of really authentic cuisine and so were delighted when our great chinese friend arrived with a gift of warm freshly made dumplings, easily the best I have had in North America outside of those prepared by a skilled home chef. Chicken, amply stuffed with herb and chrunchy veggie filling. Pork, juicy and great with regular or spicey fresh herb dipping sauce. For vegan Tofu is another choice. Available sides complete the meal and of course wine or non alcohol beverages are available. Its a brand new open kitchen and fun to talk with Imelda while she cooks with a young beautiful mennonite busily assembling the dumplings.

Kristen A.

Yelp
Go here! What this couple is doing is fantastic! Plus, how often do you get to have a tasting with the winemaker/owner? He was great and we loved the tasting and the wines! Bought a bunch to drink and store as well.

Kevin K.

Yelp
Without a doubt, the most amazing wine tasting experience we've had. We were treated so incredibly well by Mr. Reinhardt. Getting a glimpse at the inner workings of a master wine maker and his trade and family business was a truly humbling experience. Come with an open mind and heart and you will leave full of knowledge and gratitude. We look forward to next time!

Yelp
Like Stew said, tastings are by appointment only but SO worth it! Johannes is very friendly and knowledgable. This stop was the highlight of our trip!

Yelp
I had the opportunity to visit Kemmeter during my first trip to the Fingerlakes. I'm a fairly experienced wine consumer and I work in the wine industry in California. That being said, Johannes is producing some really nice wines here at Kemmeter. The Rose of Pinot Noir and the Pinot Blanc were my favorites. The wines are on the dryer side, with a subtle sweetness which adds to the fruitiness of the wines. Kemmeter has a really good vision and approach to not only producing wines in the region but a great approach to farming. I am excited to see where they go from here! Highly recommend stopping by to enjoy the wines. Hosted by Johannes himself and appointment only.
