Having grown up in the Finger Lakes and a resident of Keuka Lake, I have lived the growth of the independent artisinal wineries which now can match some world class vintage product. Every year we host fellow wine lovers summer and fall to tour, taste and judge albeit temporarily slowed of late because of the dastardly Covid. I need not repeat the acurrate descriptions of the unique personal experience of a tasting as provided at Kemmeter Wines, it reminds me of our first visit with Dr.Konstatin Frank the father of the modern vinter era here in upstate New York. I have waited two years to review to be sure our first impression was spot on. The oldest wine in my personal cellar was a 1943 Chateau Lafite Rothschild savoured many years ago, but our go to wines for lakeside dinners or often Moselle Reislings and now some local wines are proudly served and enjoyed. As I write this we are finishing a very good 2018 and the best scratch made dumplings which are new this year and available Thursday -Saturday. The splendid fall colors set the stage for the ride up the drive through the vines and the current harvest of the grapes. If you plan this gem will be your reward. A visit to the Dumpling Kichen, new this year, is available without a scheduled tasting appointment. 2020 the "the year of the virus" has been a time of stress, isolation, chaous and restricted travel. Restaurants, espeacially our unique small ethnic family style favorites have been devastated with so many closed permanently. Thus finding an outstanding new asian destination, worth a trip, who knew!; right in the heart of the West Seneca Lake Wine Trail. We are avid fans of really authentic cuisine and so were delighted when our great chinese friend arrived with a gift of warm freshly made dumplings, easily the best I have had in North America outside of those prepared by a skilled home chef. Chicken, amply stuffed with herb and chrunchy veggie filling. Pork, juicy and great with regular or spicey fresh herb dipping sauce. For vegan Tofu is another choice. Available sides complete the meal and of course wine or non alcohol beverages are available. Its a brand new open kitchen and fun to talk with Imelda while she cooks with a young beautiful mennonite busily assembling the dumplings.
