Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden

This hotel is just perfect. The location is stunning with amazing views in every direction. Rooms are spacious, beautiful and well designed. Beds are so comfortable and the housekeeping team do a fantastic job. Breakfast is the best we have had in any hotel and we have been able to enjoy it from the terrace overlooking the mountains. The whole team have been great and seem to genuinely care. Lounging in the heated outdoor pool looking up at the mountains was wonderful. We will be very sad to leave tomorrow and will certainly return.

Properties such as this really depress me. Enormous amounts of potential, but let down by terrible execution.||This property is sadly another example of the fact that anybody can get a loan from a bank, buy a fancy property and fit it out with all the trimmings. But, if like this property, you forget the definition of the word hospitality then it is all a bit pointless really.||This hotel quite clearly relies entirely on its location to bring in the business, because it is apparent that service standards are not what they should be.||For example :||1. When you make a reservation, you can book self-park garage parking for EV charging. What the hotel does not tell you is that you cannot self-use the EV chargers, only the valets can use them. Which means the hotel forces you to pay $$$ for valet parking when you are perfectly capable of parking and plugging in an EV cable.||2. Restaurant menu does not change. Which means if you are there for more than a few days, you will very quickly get bored of the same old menu.||3. Restaurant quality is hugely variable. Some dishes (e.g. piglet) are delicious, other dishes (e.g. 52 degree steak) are tough as old boots.||4. Service is forgetful. This is simply inexcusable for a property of this standard. For example evening turn-down was often forgotten. Requests at the bar were often forgotten by the staff.

We stayed three nights at Kempinski Berchtesgaden as a relaxing stop on our way to Tuscany. The location is perfect if you're planning to visit Kehlsteinhaus, the Obersalzberg Documentation Center, or take a trip to Königssee.||We booked directly through the Kempinski website, choosing a 154 m² maisonette suite. The mountain view from the suite was breathtaking. Upon arrival, valet service was instantly available – our car was taken care of right away, which set the tone for the stay.||Check-in was warm, informative, and professional – exactly what you’d expect from a 5-star hotel.||The suite was excellent: spacious, stylish, and clean with flawless three-zone climate control. Unfortunately, all three TVs had non-functioning Chromecast. Despite reporting the issue immediately, we had to wait until the next day for IT to resolve it – disappointing on a rainy evening when in-room entertainment would have been appreciated. The IT technician confirmed none of the devices had been updated, which should have been caught beforehand.||That said, the rest of the experience was exceptional. The outdoor pool is a highlight – warm, luxurious, and with stunning alpine views. The spa area surpasses most 5-star resorts we’ve visited worldwide. Dining at Johann Grill and the Lobby Lounge was a pleasure, with attentive, friendly staff and well-crafted menus.||We also thoroughly enjoyed the hotel's breakfast on all three mornings – it was varied, well-prepared, and served with the same attentive hospitality seen throughout the hotel. We highly recommend including it in your stay.||Another highlight was the valet parking. We drove out several times during our stay, and each time the car was ready promptly, clean, and waiting without delay. This level of precision and consistency made a big difference and added real value to our experience.||Kempinski Berchtesgaden isn’t a city hotel like the Adlon in Berlin – which we love – but it delivers the same high standard in a resort setting. Everything runs at a slightly more relaxed pace, well suited to the serene surroundings.||The hotel caters to a wide range of guests – couples, families, solo travellers, and even dog owners. If you have a reason to visit Obersalzberg and enjoy luxury hospitality, this is the right place.

We stayed at the Kempinski Berchtesgaden for a four-day business event – an exceptional experience! The conference rooms were perfectly prepared, and the staff was always helpful and professional. The rooms were stylish and very comfortable. A special highlight was the fine dining at the PURE restaurant – six hours of pure culinary delight at the highest level! The bar area is also highly recommended. And of course, the stunning location overlooking the Berchtesgaden mountains made the stay absolutely perfect. Fully recommended!

Nice hotel with awesome views and great food. But be prepared that your kids cannot use the pool if you arrive a little later. The day you arrive you can only use the pool until 18:00. After 18:00 they are not allowed even if the place is nearly empty. Too bad as all other things are so nice here.

Amazing Alpine setting, stunning building and layout, beautiful 360 degree views but the staff here are the brightest Jewell in the crown. The dining and food are exceptional. The bar is fun, welcoming and relaxing. The pools are perfect. The outdoor spaces are lovely.

Fabulous hotel in a wonderful setting!! From the initial welcome by the valet and reception to the bar staff and the restaurant staff- everyone was so warm and friendly. The reception area and decor was beautiful and the rooms were furnished to a high standard and with lovely thoughtful touches. The bed was super comfortable too! We ate so well for dinner and enjoyed wonderful cocktails pre dinner in the beautiful bar. Loved the outdoor seating area and also made great use of the spa and outdoor/indoor pool. Enjoyed a lovely 5km walk around the hotel woods too. Everything was just lovely and we look forward to returning.

What not to love about this hotel. It’s breathtaking. We were a family of five and the room was so comfortable and accommodating. The view of the room is exquisite. The breakfast was superb. I loved their latte. There were kids club as well as an outdoor playground. We had dinner at the restaurant. I had a grilled fish and my kids had pasta. It was delicious. The hotel has a unique location. All staff members were polite and friendly. The hotel is kids friendly. I would definitely recommend and come back

Alpine location. Could spend a week here hiking, biking, fishing, and stream walking through the mountains to Eagles Nest and in the clear water stream surrounding the charming town downhill. Beautiful bathrooms and alpine sleeping. Bonus: winding roads to exercise your car. -- the 3Sec Rambler

My husband and I recently celebrated our ten year anniversary with a six night stay at the Berchtesgaden Kempinski! We chose this hotel specifically because of Flying the Nest's YouTube review! It was an absolutely wonderful experience. We speak very little German so we appreciated how well the employees spoke English. Our suite had a very private balcony with a stunning view. The luxury robes and spa bag were appreciated. Ordering room service was a smooth process every time. The nightstand had a small wooden mountain to place on your bed if you wanted housekeeping to change the linens - that was a nice touch. The small things never go unnoticed. The breakfast buffet and the Johann Grill were absolutely phenomenal. I cannot say enough about the restaurant staff. They are simply the best - especially the breakfast hostess, Rada. She went above and beyond to remember our names and make us feel at home each and every day. The lobby and valet employees were very kind. They even scheduled our taxi back to Munich for us. We also really enjoyed the lobby bar. We highly recommend the strawberry cheesecake cocktail and the golden rush! They also have food options available. One evening we enjoyed a nice quiet dinner in their outdoor courtyard on one of the swinging benches facing the mountains! The hotel includes a city transportation pass for your stay. But the walk to the bus stop wasn't as easy as we hoped. However, it was understandable since we were staying at the top of the mountain. The bus schedule was sometimes inconvenient. The last bus seemed to run around 6pm every night so we were unable to enjoy dinners in the city like we hoped. However, the hotel restaurants were so wonderful that we were glad to come back for dinner each night! I just wish the hotel had a shuttle that at least went to the Hauptbahnhof and back. Overall, we had a wonderful five star experience! We will definitely be staying at more Kempinski hotels in the future!

I wish I had booked more time here! We did a road trip through Austria and Germany, and I honestly would've taken off two other stops just to stay here longer. There isn't a single bad thing I could say about this establishment, the staff, the service, the restaurants in house, or the view. I will absolutely be coming back here in the future- for a much longer stay!

This place had changed my view of winter vacation (in the Alps). Michelin star (Le Ciel by Chef Ulrich Heimann's), heated indoor-outdoor swimming pool (Spa) with a killer view of the snowy mountain-tops (indoor and outside) with a full bar-menu service. Whether lounging by the spa, or sipping by the fireplace, walking in the winter-wonderland of the pine forest, or a quick skiing down the slope, this place is one of my ultimate top destinations. I can't wait to come back. Kempinski really knows its luxury component. Happy Travel !!!

What an incredible experience!! The best view and service in the world. Five star service with Bavarian hospitality. Tons of activities to do, and all reasonably priced. Perfect place for a family getaway or a romantic honeymoon. We loved it!!
