Excellent service, excellent breakfast, excellent amenities, comfortable rooms and centrally located. The concierge service is on point and the grounds are beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. In room and in hotel dining and drinks are considerably more expensive than the rest of town, but not needed as restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance (as is bus stop).

Unfortunately our stay at Kempinski hotel was disappointing, given the high reputation and price of this hotel. Although the room was beautiful and comfortable, the staff of the hotel were not pleasant and we often encountered very dismissive behavior. At the hotel bar, the waiter was very rude to us and accused us of giving them a non-working payment card, even though it was their fault for the payment not going through. Not even going to mention that the bar is open only 4h a day in a hotel during Christmas holidays. The staff are not well trained in dealing with guests in a respectful manner. We were also very disappointed in the staff at Fleur de Sel restaurant, who kept us waiting for our dessert for 30min and did not even apologize or explain why we had to wait. After saying we wanted to cancel the order, pay and leave, the waiter refused and reassured us that the food would be coming out soon. We waited for another 15min, despite the restaurant being almost completely empty. The second day, we arrived at breakfast and had to wait for 20min for a table! There was a queue of guests, all angry, waiting for a table for breakfast. The responsible staff were incredibly rude, dismissed us to wait outside the restaurant and refused to set up additional tables. Something like this should never happen in a 5 star hotel. Finally, we were prompted to pay the parking fee and tourist tax twice: upon arrival and upon departure. The cherry on top was the reception staff informing us we had to pay a cleaning fee for the room when we were checking out. Never in my life have I heard of a separate hotel room cleaning fee, it is ridiculous and bizarre. Sadly the room and location of this hotel do not compensate for the poor service and rude staff, and we do not recommend this hotel for your next stay in Portorož.

A large hotel with two sections - the original building and the modern wing. We were in the modern wing and the room was spacious and comfortable, with a somewhat bare style reminiscent of a beach hotel more than a city property. Our balcony was expansive, though sadly it is not such a great view as Portoroz has this odd collection of tacky shopping areas and kid parks at the water's edge and thus between the hotel and the water - so the view was over a main road and then the tacky shops before seeing the water, so not terribly appealing. Not much they can do about that unless they buy up the land across the road!||As noted, the room was comfortable with a nice bathroom and sufficient space. It oddly had few unused outlets, and not a single USB outlet that we could find, but that is a quibble. The service was also attention, if quite formal, and the breakfast was nice.||So, if plans take you to Portoroz, this is a fine hotel to choose but do note the surroundings and the fact that this isn't real close to anything - Piran is over a mile walk away, though it was a fun walk along the water's edge.

Just came from this hotel. It was disappointed stay. For this charge per night I would expect better service. We have Kempinski also in Slovakia and it is on much higher level. |Biggest issue was breakfast - offer of meal and appearance of it has nothing with 5 star hotel and especially Kempinski. |On terrace the roof and windows were not been cleaned for a years. It was really dirty. When people finished their breakfast it took a at least half an hour that staff would come and clean the table. While this time it was a nice party for pigeons. Very close to another eating people on near tables. |Equipment of rooms is on level of 4 star hotels. Beach and services on beach is average. Definitely not as it should be at hotel of this name and money you pay per night. |Also whole area of Portoroz and also close restaurants are very expensive and quality of offered meal, apperewnce of restaurants, tables etc. is not on level you are paying for. |Also controls on the borders from Slovenian side of us - European Inion citizens was embarrassing - proforma border control made from tent on the parking place of filling station 🤦‍♀️|30 years back. I cannot recommend visit of this area.

The hotel located in a beautiful compact town with good infrastructure. The employees were so friendly, helpful. My room was located in the old building with a small balcony but there is a new one with large terraces. There is a hair and nail salon, a very good clothing store. The ice cream in the cafe is so delicious. The hotel has its private beach area, but you have go cross the road to get there, also people from outside passing by this area. The water in the sea was normal, the seabed is sandy, similar to the sea in north Italy. There also located some wild beaches not far from Portoroze. ||One minus was the breakfast, it was the worst I experienced in a five star hotel (poor choice). The good thing about that there was enough place for all guests. You could enjoy your meal inside or outside.

Great hotel with some serious drawbacks that break the five-star experience: - The receptionist told me different prices for my stay at check-in (way higher) despite booking on the official website. I had to keep the real cost in mind and show him the correct price breakdown on my phone to avoid being overcharged; I sent an email to the reservation address - no apologies from anyone; - I asked for a child crib during the booking process and had it recorded in my reservation. No crib upon arrival, no apologies again; - The AC was not working well; I had to keep the balcony door open all the time; - The hot water flow in the shower is inconsistent; - On New Year’s Eve, there was not a single sparkling wine from the menu available. How come? We were not late or anything, were they simply not prepared for the celebration? I don’t get it. These drawbacks - from extremely unacceptable (incompetent receptionist) to really strange (New Year’s Eve menu) - can be easily avoided with proper management, but it seems that no one really cares. You can see it here by copy-pasted replies from the hotel management team 🙂

This was our 5th time in Kempinski Portoroz which was again a wonderful experience. Perfect staff, clean rooms and good service. You need to try Sophia restaurant as this is very high level including thier Michelin award. We told to the staff our allergies and the chef immediately offered several options. Best culinarily experience in the last years…
