I had such a great experience here! The sushi was fresh and beautifully prepared easily some of the best I’ve had. The service was great! The staff were attentive, friendly, and made me feel welcomed from the moment I walked in! Everything came out quickly, and I left feeling completely satisfied. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this spot to others! The ice cream was definitely a plus! (:

Kenji is a solid sushi spot in San Jose with fresh, well-prepared sushi and a chill, modern vibe that makes it a great place to hang out with friends or enjoy a casual date night. The fish quality was great, and the presentation was on point. However, the service could use some improvement. While the staff was polite, the wait times were a bit longer than expected, and we had to ask more than once for a few basic things. Nothing major, but with smoother and more attentive service, this place could easily be a five-star experience.

We recently visited Kenji Sushi and were thoroughly impressed. We ordered four rolls—By The Sea, Spider Roll, Ultimate Shrimp, and Vegetable Caterpillar—and each one showcased the restaurant’s attention to detail and fresh ingredients. • By The Sea was beautifully balanced, with delicate flavors of sashimi-grade fish and a light, refreshing finish. • The Spider Roll was a standout—crispy soft-shell crab wrapped perfectly, with just the right amount of spice and crunch. • Ultimate Shrimp delivered on its name—rich, savory, and generously filled, it was a crowd-pleaser. • The Vegetable Caterpillar was not only visually stunning but also satisfying and creative, with fresh avocado and roasted vegetables that didn’t feel like an afterthought. The ambiance was modern yet cozy, and service was attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a fantastic experience—we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend if you’re looking for high-quality sushi with inventive options.

Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Parking is limited, the space was loud, and our table/seats weren’t clean. On the positive side, service was quick and the sushi and drinks were ok.

Place is really nice and Very good food! Restaurant it's self and Bathrooms were clean as well. Although there are 2 reasons for the 4/5 ⭐ review, 1. Broken Chair, We had just sat down in our chairs but my Dad's chair he sat on was about to break so we asked the waiter if he could switch chairs WHICH THEY DID and were very nice about it. 2. Walls, The walls were painted in a nice gray color but a part of the wall by the back bathrooms below a window was chipped pretty badly in multiple places of that little area. Overall I will most likely come back with my family!

Loved the jalapeño bombs for something new and creative if you’re hungry for apps. And the mystery house roll was the best! This was the shrimp tempura roll.

On Winchester Avenue, Kenji Sushi is just across the street from Santana Row but it shouldn’t be ignored. Even on a busy Friday night, they’re seating you almost immediately and reasonably quick with the food and drink. The pork and vegetable fried gyoza are good - as you would expect. Highly recommend the exotic rolls - the Ultimate Shrimp (shrimp tempura and cucumber inside, Kani and shrimp outside) and the Victoria Secret roll (tuna, salmon, yellowtail in soy paper with avocado and ponzu sauce). Both substantial in size and not overplaying the rice. Don’t forget the crispy rice with spicy tuna appetizer. While it’s a large piece of crispy rice, you get just as much tuna, so it’s a perfect proportion. Solid sushi restaurant. Will come back!

Great Sushi Spot! Had an amazing experience at Kenji Sushi in San Jose! 🍣✨ Everything was delicious, and the portions were generous. The fish was fresh, and you can tell they use high-quality ingredients. There’s a wide variety of options on the menu – plenty of rolls, sashimi, and hot dishes to choose from. Service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff. Plus, the atmosphere was really nice, cozy, and welcoming. Definitely coming back! Highly recommend for all sushi lovers! 🔥🍣

to be honest this was the most delicious food I've ever had in my entire life. I want thank God. The place was very clean and for steam and the presentation was astonishing. I would definitely be coming back here.

Great, prompt, attentive service. And great food. Something for everyone from sushi, steak, edamame and gyoza. And even their green tea ice cream is amazing.

Amazing sushi spot. My family and I always come here if we're craving sushi late at night. The lines are never too long, food is amazing quality, and the service is excellent.

Taken out 3 times now and can happily say this place is great! I wish I would have taken pictures of our rolls because they look soo delicious!! regardless, I phoned-in my order. The person who took my order was really nice and accommodating! I asked for a Dancing Dragon without eel and more spicy tuna. They did it, no charge! I know it's annoying to make adjustments to the menu but I thought I'd try it and they allowed it. So yummy. Inside : shrimp tempura and cucumbers. OUT: extra spicy tuna, avocado, spicy mayo, unagi sauce, and scallions. So so good 8.5/10. We also order the Super Mexican Roll In: Crab, avocado; out: spicy tuna, deep-fried unagi with spicy mayo and unagi sauce. Cooked. 8.5/10 the spicy garlic edamame is 10/10. Love love love the way they season their edamame. I use the juice of that spicy garlic sauce on my Dancing Dragon roll. We picked up , took about 15 minutes.

Used to love this restaurant. Then yesterday I went with my boyfriend. After waiting in the front for a few minutes in a mostly-empty restaurant, trying to make eye contact with one of the two employees, we were seated. Most of the experience was average, but we got the oysters... Literally never do this. Found a worm in there!!! (likely a bristle worm, which generally indicates the seafood was NOT properly cleaned and prepared...). I'm not someone who is comfortable pointing stuff like this out to wait staff, but I was genuinely so grossed out & nauseous, and I eventually flagged over our waiter and pointed it out. Her response was to... offer to replace the singular oyster the worm came out of. That's honestly such a lame "apology" after a customer finds a literal parasitic worm in their food. Rip. Not going back!

Your sign to finally try the restaurant that you've always driven by! We've driven past @kenjisushi_sj so many times going to Valley Fair Mall but just never got the chance to try it until now, and wow have we been missing out! With a bar, fresh sushi and sashimi, and even hot plates from the kitchen, this is the place to go, especially after a long day of shopping Service is super nice and the ambiance is super chill and a great place to hang out!

Came here on a Sunday night with a group of 6 people- it was decently busy but we only had to wait 5 mins for a table. Sushi was pretty good! Fish tasted fresh and some rolls were unique. However, at $20 per roll, it's quite pricey. Additionally they try to get you to post a 5 star review in order to get something free, which feels wrong to me, so I don't love that. Cute and casual ambiance inside. Parking lot is small but usually has spots!

Sushi rolls are so good, my favorite is the Rising Sun Roll. My friend introduced me to this place! I would come here more often if it was closer to where I live. It's so conveniently located at the Westfield Valley Mall, so perfect after a shopping spree! :D

If you're looking for a good sushi spot to eat at this is you place! The fish is fresh and presentation is really nice. My group had a good amount of service, not hovering and checked up on us just enough. The place is full and parking lot was packed, so that is how you know it's good. The inside was really nice as well and air conditioned well for a hot summer day.

Good sushi when in San Jose. Had 2 of the Exotic Rolls and they were both delicious! Ordered miso soup and side salad which were both tasty. Gyoza was also good. Service is fast. Went for casual late dinner. Indoor seating available with cute decorations.

Love that they're open late. Tt's a great option when those sushi cravings hit. The vibe here is casual and welcoming, the food presentation is on point, and the service was amazing--everyone was so kind! Fish is fresh, flavors are clean, and the rolls are actually balanced. They have some of the best sushi in town. Their gyoza, spicy garlic edamame, toro sashimi are some of our favorites!! highly recommend this place, especially if you're looking for high quality and fresh ingredients

First time here, spicy edamame is delicious, my shrimp tempura roll was good. Service was quick, environment was good as well.

I've been here a bunch of times and it's always a good experience. Never wildly busy and the food is excellent. We tend to default to a bento box and roll to share. The chicken Katsu and tempura is lightly breaded(as it should be) and crispy. Really good. The bento box is well appointed and laid out. Since my GF is pregnant we have to get a deep fried roll, so we went with a golden California which is crab, shrimp tempura and avocado. It delivered. Since Suro Sushi on Saratoga closed down, this will be our spot from now on. The menu is quite large and has many items you don't typically see(like Lasagna). Recommended.

Sushi was delicious. Sashimi was melt in your mouth and so fresh. Service was great and the workers were so nice and welcoming! One of the best sushi spots in San Jose.

Food was fantastic! Ordered sashimi and it was insanely fresh. My fiancé ordered katsu and it was some of the best we've had in the bay! Highly recommend. Sorry pics aren't before we started... but it shows how much we loved it!

I was driving down Winchester when this location caught my eye. It gave me Sushi Confidential vibes, so I had to check it out. After tasting the food, I was blown away. It's way better! I highly suggest the Tuna Lover Roll, Albacore Sashimi, Chicken Katsu, and Miso soup. Everything was incredibly fresh, and that is something I highly value in a sushi restaurant. Additionally, the service was excellent. The waitress was very sweet. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you guys!!

Open late, good sushi and appetisers. Our waitress Cersei was very attentive and made appetisers sure we had everything we needed. We ordered a bunch of different nigiri, gyoza and chicken kaarage. The food was top notch.

Food was good excellent and serves was friendly and quick! We enjoyed our meal. The miso soup was one of the best we've had.

We were going to spend a few days visiting Santa Cruz and surrounding areas. Our hotel was in San Jose and we were driving in from LA. We originally planned to try a Vietnamese restaurant but we took too long at the Tejon outlets that by the time we arrived in town it was 9 pm and most places closed at 9 or 9:30 pm Luckily Kenji closes after 11pm. We got there at about 9:40pm. There was a sign in sheet and I wrote my name and party of 4. Not even a minute passed by and the hostess walks us to our table. What we ordered came out so quickly. I was so hungry and excited to eat that I totally forgot to take pictures of the food! The service was great the food was fresh and the vibe was nice. We were out by 10:30 and it was a Saturday night! Will totally come back if we're in the area again!

We've been ordering from this place more frequently recently when we found out they have soy paper replacement for seaweed (and my partner doesn't like seaweed). The service is pretty quick and the inside is quite spacious with lots of seats, but there's still always a line because it's so popular in a prime location right by Valleyfair. We've ordered jalapeno yellowtail from here before and one of the fish pieces came with scale still attached :(( and it was too fishy. I think they do better on rolls where you're not so focused on the quality of fish because there's so much other things going on. For the price though, I would say the quality and amount of food is very fair. I think I'm just nitpicking a bit here. I like a lot of their rolls. I think out of the one I tried most recently I quite liked the kamikaze. It had albacore inside the roll and on top. The combination of jalapeños on top, the cucumber + cilantro inside made the roll pretty refreshing. The sweet potatoes added a fun crunch as well.

I wished I would've gotten our servers name! He was very nice, attentive & helpful (asked him a bunch of questions since it was our first time), he also spoke Vietnamese, & gave us training things for chopsticks for my 2 kids. The sushi here is super fresh & delicious, the sashimi melted in your mouth like butter. Presentation was also very beautiful. The rolls were also delicious & flavorful. My kids loved the deep fried octopus. Overall, great sushi, great service.

My partner and I have enjoyed our previous visits here. Since we hadn't dined here since mid-2024, we decided to grab lunch while running errands on a Sunday. SERVICE Our experience began positively, as we were seated quickly, which we appreciate. However, I've noticed a decline in the quality of customer service during our recent visit. After ordering two sushi rolls and drinks, the food was promptly served, but we didn't receive any follow-up to check if we needed anything else during our meal. Once we finished eating, a waitress came to clear our empty dishes, but then we waited for about eight minutes without anyone checking in on us. Despite three waitstaff nearby, it felt like they were unaware of our need for assistance. I eventually had to call a passing server to ask for our check. The restaurant was at about 55% capacity, so it wasn't too busy. SUSHI * Nana * Caterpillar Honestly, the quality of the sushi has declined as well. The fish is not as fresh, and the rolls are small for the price, around $18 to $20 each. Following this recent experience, I will be taking my business elsewhere. They must seriously consider the feedback provided on Yelp and other platforms, as there are evident issues that need addressing.

Rude! We reserved a table for 12 for a work lunch. Unfortunately, several coworkers called out sick at the last minute so we ended up with only 6 people. The hostess got all pissy when I let her know. She proceeded to lecture me and say I should have called earlier. Yes, I would have but I literally found out 2 seconds before I told her. She continued to grumble and we overheard her complaining to her coworkers. Made lunch very uncomfortable. So unprofessional. Never returning here.

This sushi spot is in a good location and they have their own parking lot. The staff were quick to seat us and check on us. The food was pretty solid! I really enjoyed their baked rolls more so than the typical regular rolls. It's a good place to dine casually with your family on a nice night out.

Delicious sushi rolls! Ordered a teriyaki chicken kids meal for my daughter and then had plenty of food and variety to keep her happy. The wife and I shared 4 rolls and they were more than enough to fulfill our craving.

Every time I come here with I have such a great time. The food is always delicious and we get amazing service. I was in town a few days ago and met up with some friends. From the moment we walked in we were greeted immediately with a smile. We ordered a few different rolls, pints of Sapporo; and of course the sashimi salad (which always hits). They always have some good music playing which adds to the overall vibe. All in all another 10/10 experience. Big shout-out to our server Gwen who took great care of us. She's a real one!

My wonderful boyfriend treated me here on my birthday. Food is always fresh, made to order and delicious. Service and ambiance was exceptional. We love coming here because we can dress up or dress down and they are open late! It's one of our fave neighborhood spots.

Kenji Sushi is my favorite sushi place in San Jose. From the moment you walk in, the cozy ambiance and friendly staff set the tone for a great meal. The sushi here is exceptional. Their specialty rolls are flavorful without being over-the-top; the Popcorn Scalllop, Orange Blossom and the Rising Sun were personal favorites. I really like how they have pictures of their rolls on the menu, it really makes the ordering experience easier and helps me in choosing which roll looks the yummiest. Prices are reasonable for the quality, making it a great value compared to higher-end sushi spots in the city. Kenji Sushi is worth a visit.

Great spot right by the mall, good variety of food options and a nice cocktail menu as well. Some highlights include the orange blossom roll and yellowtail jalapeño carpaccio.

Great food!! Everything was tasty. We ordered Gyozas, Salmon Teriyaki, and Lion King Rolls & we loved all of it. Definitely coming back. The staff was very kind and helpful.

Kenji is my go to spot! They offer a great variety not only sushi but hot items from the kitchen. Everything is so fresh and to top it off they have fresh wasabi, which is outstanding ! Good service too.
