Kenn's Broome Street Bar

I am in NYC several times a year. This is my absolute favorite place to go. The staff, from owner to cook, are friendly and welcoming. I live in NC and, while there for my birthday in January, they brought me a slice of cake and had the entire bar sing happy birthday to me. Paul is the absolute best bartender of all time. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Plus, they have excellent food. Thank you to the Broome Street family for welcoming me and always making me feel like a local.

Great atmosphere and a really nice pub! The bartender from Chile was very friendly and welcoming. We even exchanged a few words about football and the places we come from, which made the experience even warmer. Highly recommend!

A wonderful restaurant and pub. New owners but it hasn't changed its wonderful food and atmosphere . There is so much history linked to this famous pub. The new Aussie owner was a charm. I just wished I could get the recipe for that best ever Pea Soup.😁

The waiter got mad at me for ordering French fries at the bar when I was sitting with a group in the back. His associate gave me a choice to either close out or continue ordering at the bar, only to be hassled by a rude server. They literally gave my fries to another customer in spite. Sad because the bartender totally understood the scenario but was powerless. These servers are out of control. And you know what… Kenn’s is a glorified dive bar! Not a restaurant. Get real or at least get better servers who won’t go to war with a customer over ordering fries at the bar. I told them to forget the order and take it off my bill. Literally this server passed up money all to prove a stupid point, which was even warranted to begin with because I got permission from another staff member to keep my tab at the bar. So lame.

A sudden rain storm and hungry bellies had us heading for a place to escape. As we read the menu outdoors, a woman passing by said “best burgers in New York”. That was enough of a testament for me. I felt like I’d stepped back in time to pubs in England and Australia. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with colourful chalkboards spelling out the food and drinks plus the cosiness of the wooden chairs and tables. We were immediately seated when we walked in and we endeavoured to dry off. They do hamburgers differently here - in pita bread. I asked for “chips” with mine when I should’ve said “fries” a common mistake we Australians make in the USA. The burgers were flavoursome with a texture I’m not used to, yet still tasty. To go with our burgers we had margaritas. Service was very good. Decor inviting. Outdoor dining available - which would be lovely hadn’t it been raining. Toilets antiquated yet somewhat charming. We will return.

Big bar space. Loved the Jukebox selections. Overpriced for a dive bar. Check it out. The atmosphere is laid back. Btw they have no drink specials.

It's was great, my family and I had a magnificent time! The burgers in the pita bread was delicious. The burger was cooked to perfection.the fries were fresh cut and super tasty.

When I visit NYC, this is one of the bars I like to stop by. Love the vibe, and the service is so friendly

Great little bar. Food is pretty good! Service is great. Casual vibe. They have a veggie burger which is my go to but my meat eater friends have enjoyed the other menu items.

Had a decent brunch at Kenn's Broome Street Bar on a busy Saturday afternoon. We had the Hot Pastrami Sandwich (a little dry), Knockwurst Chili Dog and Smoked Salmon, Sour Cream and Dill omelet - nothing stood out but all okay. One positive is that they have plenty of outdoor seating.

I love the ambiance and style of this classic joint. The food was ok but burgers were 17.50 and beers 8. We would have gone to corner bistro, the pita bread buns at Kenn's I remember being good but this time seemed ok. For some reason I keep thinking chips is French fries and the burgers only come with "chips" not French fries, seemed like more worldly city where they call them chips most places.

Came across this bar while walking around the city and boy what a great find. The bartender, Chris I believe was his name, was the nicest guy ever. They have a full bar and their prices are so reasonable. This was a quick stop but I can't wait to go back. The vibe here is totally up my alley. It's just a chill and just welcoming. New York you didn't disappoint!

Rainy Sunday here with a decent size group, 10 of us and were able to be sat upon arrival. Had wine while there....and the group ordered a few apps which I didn't try any...spent about an hour and a half here before heading out. The service was prompt and friendly, two downsides were, opening the window close to the table to get fresh air...but it was a chilly breezy. And the ladies room was tight not to mention no room for a line and hard to tell if it's occupied or vacant.

Where do you go on a perfectly gorgeous sunny summer/fall day? Where you want to soak up the rays and people watch? Summer always gives me a craving for a good turkey burger. I was craving one and was walking on Wooster Street and saw Broome Street Bar. Well, I know one thing, bars pretty much serve a great burger. I picked a cool table and decided to dine Al fresco. I reviewed the menu and unfortunately did not see a turkey burger on the menu but.. there was a Veggie Burger that comes in pita with onions, tomatoes etc and either a side salad or potato chips to accompany the burger. I opted for it and would have loved a beer but was in a work lunch. As I waited, the sunshine was so delightful I could have drank it. My food arrived quickly and I was quite impressed with my order: usually veggie burgers are small and don't fill a pita pocket but this one did. I cheated and ordered American cheese on it. The burger was tasty with onions and the fixins. The side salad was equally delicious and I loved the light dressing. The service was prompt and courteous. Well.. let's see if Broome Street met my credentials: Dining Al fresco yes Good food yes People watching yes Would return yes A perfect score! Broome Street has been bookmarked in Yelp.

Nice bartenders but awful, mean staff. We had a group of 20 people come in for a birthday just looking to either sit or stand at the bar for drinks. We were basically yelled at all night for taking up space and giving them our business when there were guys in the corner breaking glasses and pushing chairs over...

I don't really know where to start to be honest. I was in there for a maximum of 20 seconds in total. Seconds within my friend and I entering, we were aggressively approached by this older woman who began yelling at us about entering through an exit door even though she had no problem with the two gentlemen who walked in that way right before us. She proceeded to yell at us very rudely saying "what do you want? Make a decision," and much else along those lines in a disgusting tone when we had literally just walked in and not even had a second to think or process. I was really just taken back because I really don't understand why she felt the need to be so nasty. Given how uncomfortable and afraid we were, of course we walked out, because who wouldn't? My conclusion is, this place only welcomes a specific "demographic" and if you don't fit in with it, they will make sure to show you that you are not welcome there just without saying it outright. This place obviously has an 1870s theme and has not gotten the memo that it is now 2024. If you are anything other than white, don't bother. They don't want you there and will treat you horribly. Just read the other reviews and you will see a pattern. There are one certain type of customer who have a great time there and everyone else has a horrible experience. If it weren't illegal, there would be a sign on the front that says "Whts Only."

Great local spot in Soho. Incredible food! Always packed but well worth the wait. The bartenders and wait staff are very friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a bar with an old school NY ambience this is your place.

I tried to stop in here for a quick drink but could not stay. There was a smell so strong that reeked of urine. it was so strong. im not sure if it was the water or cleaning rag but it was so potent. Im really not sure how other people stayed in there, nonetheless ate there. I was so thrown off.

This place is an absolute classic that absolutely refuses to be anything other than what it is. You have to respect that. The bartenders know what they are doing, and they remember you after you come a few times. In fact, I hadn't been there for months at one point, and the guy greeted me like he had just seen me the previous night. The atmosphere is great. It's worth going there on that alone, but that being said, the food is cooked fresh and is good, all of it. They even have a decent selection of wines by the glass, not something you would expect at a "dive". This will become your new haunt, guaranteed.

Holiday special! Hot cider with spiced rum. Service not really attentive but I understand - there's a bunch of drunk people everywhere at 1am. Really vibed with the playlist - playing all my fav tunes. I enjoyed myself here.

Mediocre pub made worse by a racist and absolutely rude manager. I was leaving a lunch meeting and needed to respond to some emails. I ordered two glasses of wine and politely asked for the check. Said manager than slams the check down and says "you need to leave it gets busy right now". I've worked in service and would NEVER speak to customer like this. When I confronted the manager, she screams at me for ordering one drink (I had 2) and that next time I should go to Starbucks to do work. Maybe it's my fault for stopping in this trash establishment that feeds on the blood of tourists. But take my advice, go somewhere else.

Came by for drinks on a Sunday afternoon. Seems like a popular spot. Some of their drinks are $12-$14 - not a bad price. I had the Aperol Spritz - it was good. They had substantial amount of seating indoors and outdoors. They seemed understaffed - we waited a long time for servers to come back with checks. Ended up having to go inside to ask to pay for our bill.

Walk right by. Food just isn't good and they do t car. For what I paid I could have gotten a delicious lunch elsewhere. Burgers were dry, fries were limp, tea was cold and service was subpar. When I complained- the manage was neither fazed or concerned- she just didn't car. As I said -just walk right past the place!

Same as always- good for a quick pub-style drink to get out of the cold in soho. Had Irish Coffees that were Oh-kay. Very stiff which I don't mind, but no whipped cream. Bartender was grumpy. The crowd at the bar were nicer than the bartender.

Please note this review is solely for the drinks and service!!! My date and I came across this place after strolling around the city. We decided to have our "nightcap" here. The staff was friendly and greeting us promptly. We were provided with menus in no time. I ordered the Margarita and my date the Negroni. Our drinks arrived quickly. I should say, that before ordering our drinks, I mentioned my strong dislike for Negronis. My date having never tried one decided to see why I hated it so much. So please note his dislike has NOTHING!!! To do with the way the bartender made it and more so it's just not a drink that suits our taste. The Margarita I ordered was to my liking. Perfect amount of salt around the rim and a fresh lime. We were seated outdoors so it was a little chilly. When we requested to sit indoors, the staff was really accommodating. The inside was definitely more lively with a few drunk patrons. It was entertaining to see but nothing too crazy. I will be back to try their food options.

Great place for drinks n snacks. Bartender is very friendly! Chili nachos were delish. Great place to meet up w friends n catch up.

First time visitor but will be coming back for screwdrivers, wings , and fries . Great pub , super fast service and the staff is very nice . Definitely pop in and enjoy the place .

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE !! "LEANNE" IS THE "owners/manager" name. The bartender Chris was such a good respectful person to all his clients. Leanne decided to cut me off because I asked her for water due to the fact she was wearing a waitress outfit. She was super rude and egotistic I will never be returning to this place because of LEANNE

The owner and the bartender on a Sunday afternoon was awesome. We admired how they stood their ground when a pair of entitled kiwi tourists strolled in blowing past the sign that said restrooms for customers. Twenty minutes later and the tourists were still trying to die on this hill. We are semi regular visitors to NYC--frankly it's what I would have expected of my countrymen visiting other countries. Shameful. That said, friendly spot, good drinks and good beers on tap. We'll be back the next time we're in the neighborhood.

Wow, this is truly the worst restaurant/bar I've ever been to in my life. I highly recommend you never go here. I was assaulted by the owner when we tried to send our food back. Then she kept coming back and harassing us even further saying offensive things about our party. I could say a lot more but I'll hold my tongue. I hope she figures out her personal issues since it's not fair for patrons to receive her angst :(

If you like the smell of dirty mops and mildew this is the place for you. Let's break it down 1. The open kitchen right next to bar with unmasked workers pouring dirty water on the floor as you sit there and drink is not very appetizing. 2. The watered down drinks in dirty glasses at 15.00 a pop leave a lot to be desired.

Both the food and service were great. It was a nice way to take a break from all the soho shopping! We got a mediterranean salad, chili cheese fries and a few beers!

A visit to the Brooke St Bar has become a ritual whenever I come to New York to see my son. They have a great tuna melt, burgers, fries, and drinks - great selection of beer on tap. If you write on the back of one of the coasters, and include an address, they'll actually mail it as a postcard (at some point). Highly recommend this spot for an authentic pub lunch!

This place is a pretty classic pub. The inside is cozy and loud with surprisingly cool stained glass. I sat outside and had a pretty nice view of soho. If you're looking for a casual semi-cheap stop this is a good place to go.

Kenn's Broome Street Bar holds a historic place in the transition of Soho from a gritty manufacturing district to the trendy, artsy neighborhood of today. Opened in 1972, it became the unofficial clubhouse of the earliest artists who gentrified the area. Maplethorpe was a regular as were Robert Boyles, Robert Jacks, Ken Tisa and many others. Still serving the best drinks and burgers around.

I went to Broome bar a few times in the past and the service was decent. Just drop by today and man what a different a few days make. I was seat and just basically abandoned In my opinion I don't recommend dropping by for a drink or food unless you have a ton of time to waste and have no respect for yourself.

Very nice restaurant & bar in Soho area of NYC. I had a cheeseburger entree here which was excellent. The restaurant has a nice decor and fun atmosphere, and is located in a very safe but busy and trendy area of the city. The beer selection here is very good here too. Also a great spot to watch soccer or other live events. A lot of famous artists and other ppl have been regulars here, and lots of beautiful people come here from around the world. In fact, Soho is the best neighborhood in New York to meet new faces.

Local pub on a busy street of Soho that has generic drinks but large seating capability which can accommodate groups (as oppose to the rest of the bars in the area which require reservations). $14 a drink. 3.25/5 stars as a night bar.

Been going to this, "true" beatnik kinda place for about 32 years on and off. It's TRULY one of my favorites; always consistent! Leana (the owner's wife) is lovely, socializes with the customers and your concerns become her concerns. Antonio (the waiter) has been there for quite a while; he's a pleasure as well. The menu is basic, but delicious! Happy 50th anniversary to you guys!!! Wishing you TONS more!!!

I love this place, it's casual, genuine and has really good food. I've been coming here for decades, and although I no longer live in NYC, I always make a big effort to pop in for a meal. It never disappoints!

The service was horrible. Waiter disappeared. Nobody check to make sure food was correct. We got our own silverware and napkins. No refills on our drinks. Had to go track people down to get our bill and a carry out box. Excruciating wait to get our bill processed, and it finally came with gratuity included. The manager shrugged off my feedback and suggested I take it up with the waiter directly. I hope she is the owner, as she has no business in the food service business.

I don't understand why the host was so rude, kicking me out because I ordered a soft drink to watch the World Cup game. No one else was waiting for the seat, and had you simply been polite about asking me to leave, I wouldn't be leaving this review.

Charcuterie was great. Better than some of the places that were rated as a good place for charcuterie. Service was great. A happening spot! Owner was super friendly

This place has excellent beyond pub food. It was close to our hotel and rated highly so we gave it a try for lunch and were very pleased. They have good French Fries, large portions, very good sandwiches with lots of fresh greens and a tasty tuna melt. A few days later we wanted something easy and not too $$$ for dinner so went back and it was just as good. The lentil soup was outstanding and is a meal by itself. Don't miss the specials. The prices are very reasonable. In the evenings toward the weekend it gets pretty lively and loud with the 20-30 somethings. The service is excellent.

A quick review for a quick stop at a bar I'll never enter again. Trying to find a happy hour stop, my friends and I ended up at Broome Street Bar. We were fortunate enough to get a seat at the bar- or so we thought. We sat there for awhile, wanting to order, you know- spend money to no avail and then the bartender came over and took our drink order. On a colder winter's day something warm peaked my interest so I ordered the Irish whiskey with Jameson to which the bartender let out an audible groan. Lovely. I know they say that New Yorkers aren't the nicest, but c'mon. Don't want to make it? Lie and say you're out of them. I wouldn't question it. No big deal. The bartender was talking to himself most of the time and yelling about things. Was not a great first impression at all. Never asked us if we wanted anything else. We paid. We left. And I will never return.

I'm surprised I had never written a review for this place before, since I've been coming here for 20 years! I've eaten here years ago, so I won't review the food. I remember it being fine. Expect "Diner level" food. Nothing fancy. Good burgers. Today we stopped in on a bright Saturday for a couple beers at the bar. Just a friendly crowd at the bar and the bartender is really nice. We had a great conversation about the Beatles and music in general. There is still an "old New York" feel to this place, and rightfully so. The large windows at the bar let you people watch this VERY busy corner in SoHo during any season. Beers were $6 and $7 range. If you want a good NYC experience stop in if you're around or make it part of your shopping trip in SoHo.

Sunday lunch with my wife and daughter. We knew the great "old school" look and feel of Broome Street Bar and went there. The service was great, as were the burgers, but what has motivated me to write a review are two things: The bloody marys, which were the best we have ever had. And the basket of hand cut fries. Memorable!!

Liquor may be quicker, but Jamie W. and I actually came here for a close-to-midnight snack after seeing "Waitress" on Broadway. We decided to take our chances strolling around our SoHo hotel, a somewhat desolate neighborhood at that hour except for hordes of indifferent hipsters lighting up on the sidewalk. We thought we found a spot in The Cupping Room Cafe, but despite their published hours, the clean-up crew was already mopping the floors. Feeling dejected, we stumbled upon this bustling corner bar full of customers who had the same late night munchies we had. We grabbed a table for two as soon as one opened up, and the server handed us menus without skipping a beat. Eyeing with envy the full plate of nachos an older couple was devouring at the next table, we decided that was what we wanted, the $8.50 Nachos, a pile of corn chips covered with melted cheddar, jalapeño slices, onions, sour cream and salsa (photo: http://bit.ly/2azjpVW). What better way was there to satisfy a nocturnal craving than with a salty, melty pile of empty calories that completely hit the spot? But wait, there was more... Add to that a $7 slice of Junior's Cheesecake drizzled with blueberry sauce (photo: http://bit.ly/2a8VQ27) because after all, we were in New York and not about to wait in the ridiculous line at the Junior's on Times Square to get the same thing. Yeah, this was not a healthy choice meal, and was all-night indigestion ahead of us where we would be competing for the same toilet? Probably, but the vibe was chill in here, and the servers quite attentive considering half the customers were barely able to stand including the glamorously dressed Long Island matron who really needed to pee. FOOD - 3 stars...no great culinary art but we got what we needed at the right time AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...standard late-night tavern but with a more convivial vibe than most SERVICE - 3.5 stars...no complaints TOTAL - 3 stars...where everybody knows your name...ok, not really

The manager here is an asshole. We had a party of 8. We received the bill, which was hand written. We asked for a print out because it wasn't legible. The waiter told us he doesn't have a print out and this was the bill. I asked for a manager and she came over with an attitude before I could even say anything. I had to cut her off to explain that I only asked for a print out. She said "there is no print out. This is the bill, you people figure out how you're going to pay it" and walked off. She came back to serve the Caucasian patrons there with a different tone of voice. Black folk steer clear of this place...

Covid safe indoor out door seating - had the chili an a hot tottys was very tasty- the nachos where disappointing not much on them. Cozy place friendly staff drink prices high $13 for a hot drink feel like these places are raising the prices because they had to close I for months or because it's SoHo - but your over charging your customers
