I like Kenny and Zukes but it has changed since I went last which is a shame! Not really a delicatessen and brunch place anymore. Minimal deli. Only a small menu you order at the counter and served on paper plates. Bagel and lox was good but not a ton of lox. I loved that it came with veg and was open face and I loved the amount of capers! Didn’t love that the onions were pickled, threw off the perfect balance that is bagel and lox. Matzo ball soup was OK, matzo ball itself was good but soup wasn’t super flavorful. Regular breakfast sandwich on a bagel was bomb. Disappointing deli case: Only a brownie and a cookie in the case. No hamantaschen, no kugel, very empty shelves compared to what it used to be. I think ordering bagels, schmear, and lox to-go for a party or something is the best way to go. Nothing special inside anymore. I understand it just be difficult to continue to operate downtown when people aren’t working in office anymore, just sad to see.

In town visiting and stopped by for a late breakfast. I'm not a fan of corned beef in general but theirs was delicious. I also liked their take on pastrami (below) not traditional but very good nonetheless. With an onion bialy. I'd go back.

Get here early. I got here on a Thursday afternoon around 3 and there was not much left. Although I asked for a recommendation with what was left. The employees were polite and recommended a delicious sounding alternative sandwich.

Please note the updated location. Currently at 3808 Williams Ave., suite 125 Portland. Lovely delicious-ness

I got a chewy bagel with a small chunk of browned avocado and some sesame seeds for $9. All the tables were dirty.

I wanted to like this place because I had heard good things from friends. The pricing is unreasonable for the product. I simply can't justify $18 for a bagel sandwich which is just as good as the $7 fare I used to get at my old haunt. The service is friendly enough. I guess if you have the extra scratch it works in a pinch.

Fun and simple. Good place for the family. Orders the Pastrami.

Google
WELL!! Finally got to the relocated Kenny & Zuke’s, for lunch Friday, anticipating a thin-sliced, stacked high pastrami sandwich on rye bread. Ordered “two pastrami sandwiches” at the counter (no table service). Soon presented with a delicious but thick sliced (1/2-in) serving of pastrami on top of a bagel (on a paper plate) . No “sandwich”. I explained what I was expecting when I ordered a pastrami sandwich was pastrami between two pieces of rye bread. “Oh, we don’t have ANY bread”. I asked for another bagel to make our “sandwiches”, which was promptly and cheerfully delivered, but the bagel/pastrami ratio was too much bagel, and much “chewier” than a slice of rye bread. Because the pastrami was really delicious, we soldiered on, but won’t return. Kenny & Zuke’s DELI has been replaced by Kenny & Zuke’s Bagelworks. Judging by the fact that in the time we were there (1:30-2:10 Friday), there was only one other customer, it may not be open too much longer. In addition, we bought two “everything” bagels to go, as that is my wife’s favorite style of NY bagel (garlic and lots of sesame and poppy seeds) but it turned to be too dense, short on sesame seeds with burned garlic).

Yelp
There are a lot of bagel places in Portland. This is one of them. My wife and I crossed town to check out Kenny & Zuke's based on a menu posted online, which was sadly a little different than the one currently in operation, and the entrée most interesting to me being, of course, no longer available. C'est la vie, I guess. Instead, my wife ordered the Nova Lox and a chai, and for myself, the Deviled Egg Salad on a bagel, and a glass of lemonade. We grabbed a patio table and waited, but not for long...all four items arrived lightning quick, although in honestly, it wasn't particularly busy at all. Disappointingly though, neither of us were particularly wowed by either of the sandwiches; the Deviled egg salad was surprisingly sin-less (re: bland), and my wife, no stranger to lox bagels, didn't feel the need to finish the second half of hers, nor take it home - highly unusual for her! She also remarked that the chai was more milk than anything else, to the point of near dilution. The above analysis sounds a little harsh, so let me be clear: yes, they were tasty enough, but each of them seemed to lack something that made them stand out above the pack. Great? No. Good? Eh...sure. Bad? Certainly not. Somewhere in the Goldilocks zone, straddling the line between competence and mediocrity. Perhaps it is just our personal taste; your mileage may vary. The patio is cute, although several of the tables hadn't been wiped down thoroughly, despite it being relatively early in the morning. The interior décor and layout of the restaurant itself is somewhat Spartan and uninspiring as well, furthering the overall aura of "meh" that pervaded throughout our visit. Kenny, Zuke...you're not far off the mark, but...something is missing. Some sort of spark, essence, a touch of personality. Your establishment isn't advocating loud enough on your behalf. It could. It should. I hope the inspiration finds you and urges you to embrace something a little more radical, rebellious, maybe even antagonistic. Don't settle for the status quo: pursue the status excelsior!

Yelp
Three stars is good. Walking in, the decor is... uninteresting. Clean but plain & basic. Service ~ plenty of staff. Bored looks when asking about the menu. Meh. Bagels ~ good. Toppings are very salty. Very pricey. Not sure why there is giant tip suggestions when ordering at the counter especially with no smiles. When we are pretty much self serving ourselves and staff is not enthusiastic, this makes a tiring morning start. You do not come here to wake up leisurely and enjoy the aesthetics of a morning cafe. You do not come here for bright sunny service. You come because you are very hungry and just want a pastrami sandwich. *Good amount of shared outdoor picnic tables with the neighboring eateries.

Yelp
Always in pursuit of the best sandwiches in each place I visit, I decided to try Kenny and Zuke's on the recommendation of several friends (and the internet). During my visit, I ordered Kenny and Zuke's Reuben, which contains a mountain of house-made beef pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and creamy Russian dressing. While initially shocked by the cost of a single sandwich, I understood the reasoning as soon as I tasted my first bite. The house made pastrami was tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned with a medley of spices. I'm addition, the sandwich was humongous and stuffed with meat to the point of overflow. I split one with my dad, and we were very satisfied after consuming half of a sandwich. That being said, I think a half-sandwich option would be ideal, especially for solo diners. Kenny and Zuke's reuben was one of the best I've tasted, and next time, I would like to try the turkey pastrami for comparison.

Yelp
I've let this go for a decade, but then I came here and saw this bullshit: "Pastrami better than NYC Katz's Deli. Pass up NYC entirely and go to PDX's Kenny & Zuke's." Lady, you wouldn't know a fucking pastrami sandwich if the Stage and Carnegie delis rose from the grave, opened on each side of Russ and Daughters, formed alliances with Canter's in L.A. and Schwartz's in Montreal and buried you under a stack of sissel and half sours. This fuckin' place. When we first moved here, K&Z had multiple locations and a bagel plant producing sandwiches and bagels that were... fine? I guess? Listen, you'll hear dozens of stories in this town of bagel shops making the long trek out to NYC, watching the masters at work, taking all of their tips, bringing them back to Portland and then doing... absolutely nothing with that information. Almost willfully ignoring those instructions in favor of either spongy bagel-shaped bread, modestly boiled bagels that they'll pat themselves on the backs for ("THEY'RE BOILED!") or some ludicrous Portland concoction that sullies the name of bagels in general. K&Z bagels always fell squarely in the middle of that pack and succeeded largely for lack of competition. Can you be a truly shitty bagel if Kettleman's is the high bar and the low is whatever atrocity Einstein or Spielman's is pumping out? No, you're a mediocre bagel that would be a supermarket bagel in an good bagel town. But the sandwiches here... I have no idea what you're doing to these meats that's drying them out with such impunity or draining them of all seasoning, but Kornblatt's, Goose Hollow and Ben and Esther's have been right there. Beetroot, Jacob and Sons... any of these people could've told you what you were doing wrong and tweaked the recipe. But no: This place is long past caring. Zuke hasn't been around in a long time, and that's likely for the best. Kenny is in pseudo retirement and the kids have gone to their Ivy League schools. The bagel plant is long gone, the airport shop closed and the downtown spot is history. This place on Williams is scarcely trying for the old deli aesthetic anymore and seems to be coasting off of the fumes of stale IP and and desiccated $18 sandwiches. What even is the rest of this menu? A bad meatball sub? A tuna sandwich? A Cubano? Burger sliders? Peppers and eggs is a hard thing to fuck up, but at $14 without real eggs, K&Z found a way. When the only people who think you're doing a bang-up New York job on your fake deli are from Beaverton, it's time to pack it in. There may have been something to Kenny and Zuke's at one point, but at this stage it's doing a bad impersonation of the delis that Ben & Esther's and Jacob & Sons are working so hard to get right. Much as Henry Higgins Boiled isn't H&H Bagels, Kenny and Zuke's isn't Katz's: It's Sally Albright at a Katz's table faking it as loudly as possible hoping someone still wants to have what she's having.

Yelp
8/29 10:30 Fresh pastrami egg sandwich. Coffee so wonderful. I miss the bustle of the old location but here the menu is streamlined. Limited street parking but worth the walk if you can't park close. The End

Yelp
Yummy food - cool food. Free drip coffee. Door corner location with lots of windows. I could go here a lot if I wasn't so strict on carbs. It's a bread place which is heaven unless you're running from the beauty of bread because you want to be a model or not have IBS or something. They seem TK have gluten free options but it's hard to tell and they don't work hard to let you know. Has that "the product is awesome so we don't need to over communicate " vibe. Mostly that's ok The service isn't full Star. As a first timer it was confusing and I didn't really get everything there or how it worked and the staff wasn't going out of their way to lead and guide me. No one feels awesome feeling like an idiot so better customer service would change the whole day and since I could tell there was a lot of cool stuff there, I'd have tried a lot more and they'd have made more money off me. Fortunately my friends knew this place and so I got inside track after fumbling through an awkward searching order - they'd ordered some cool stuff - a huge poutine like place of strips of maple waffles covered in cheese and stuff like breakfast nachos you've only dreamed of. I'll go back and feel less like a noob. Hope they do better at inviting people into their great and yummy world.

Yelp
At first the sticker shock of a $20 sandwhich almost had me walking out. But this house made pastrami is amazing having been smoked and 10 hours and covered with coarse ground spices. I split the sandwich with my wife and was more than full.

Michael G.

Yelp
Was walking to the redline so I could get to the airport and go home and then saw that there was a deli to my right and I love cream cheese and bagels with lox so I decided to have one last mean in Portland. The bagel was delicious and really hit the spot but I didn't order a drink because I was really craving an iced tea and they didn't have any... who doesn't have iced tea?!? Service was fine... guy I ordered from seemed pretty indifferent but he got the job done so whatever.

Yelp
This his location is CLOSED!!! We went there, paid parking went through sleet and it's CLOSED.

Yelp
4/21/2022 at 3pm: Yelp, their website, the hours on menu in the window Plus I called, machine said new hours until 4:00pm. Drove here from Tigard, paid $6 for parking in the rain and brought my 81 & 90 year old in-laws with us. Walked up to the door at 3:00 pm and it was closed. All because my 90 year old father in law wanted to have a Pastrami sandwich. This review has nothing to do with their food.

Yelp
It's been a minute so forgot how good this place is! First time in since COVID and I have to say the food is still delicious! You order at the counter and pick a table; they drop off your made to order eats, and you bus your own dishes when finished. The classic Reuben was chock full of deliciously sliced pastrami with perfectly grilled rye bread, dressing, and sauerkraut. The spear of dill pickles added nice texture and brine to the dish. The potato salad is tossed in olive oil, vinegar, Dijon mustard with Bermuda onions and green onions. The veggie cheese fries are amazing! Perfectly crispy exterior, creamy inside, and they stayed that way throughout the meal with the grilled veggies and melted cheese. So yummy! Please support an old school favorite neighborhood eatery.

Tricia S.

Yelp
Had high hopes for a stacked sandwich but didn't get it. Ordered an original Reuben after asking about the amount of meat included. Photos on Yelp show "stuffed" sammys and I wanted to confirm the Reuben has the same amount of meat - was told yes, really it's no. The sandwich was delish but not worth $18. Probably a one and done type of place for me. Hard to find due to the plywood walls - no store sign visible from the street, need to walk up to the door to see the menu and know it's K&Z.

Ada M.

Yelp
I liked their food a lot. Yummy and straight forward but has flavor. This is a great place For brunch or breakfast.

N. V.

Yelp
Underwhelming, flavorless. unauthentic, bordering on nasty. My 91 year old Mom would give them a half a star for the pickled onions. Never again!

Bijana K.

Yelp
I have eaten here numbers of times over the years and have always enjoyed my meals. I don't think I've been the most adventurous with this menu as I typically eat vegetarian but I know my dining companions have eaten the meaty specialties and give rave reviews. Most recently, my spouse and I stopped in when we had a little time and needed a small snack before meeting friends. I appreciate when restaurants provide the same excellent service to small orders as large parties getting all the things.

David F.

Yelp
I thought I had rated K&Z a few years back but maybe not. Had I then the rating would be a 4 or even a 5. How things can change as a result of current events;such as, COVID, inflation and challenge of getting good help. Although I do want to compliment the person working the to go counter. Great smile, friendly and considerate of what needed to go (utensils, etc). Yes, as one person noted today and confirmed when I called in advance to place an order, it takes up to an hour to get served. Yikes. Bring something to read or be prepared for some real conversation with you whomever comes with. So, long and short of it is this: The eggs and pastrami was good not great. In the past the meat would have been diced -although now that I think about it - that might have been a frittata which I didn't see on the menu. Asked for cheese with the eggs, in writing, but the cook missed that. The corned beef sandwich, on the other hand, was excellent. So, I'll come back and eat in to see if I'm being too harsh with a 3 for now. Note: a few hours later I thought how I liked this place so much pre-COVID and changed the 3 to a 4. I'm not letting one item affect my previous likes for K&Z.

Yelp
Visit 10-27-2019 YELP ! How can you have a bad time here. It is so simple, beautiful, full of good energy and excellent food... oh, it's Portland and there are some grumpy people freshly back from some protest in the rain and they expect a lot, for free, or almost free. Love this place for what it is and I don't want it to change. running a business is tough enough with keeping staff, paying wages, benefits, and dealing with the public who use reviews to ruin you just when you thought it was going good, yes you know who you are. Location: Amazing and first class simple modern open deli. Food: always great, prepped, and plated well. Coffee is just okay, drip drip : ( nothing great but it's not a freaking espresso shop. Some dork and his poor wife or girlfriend sitting next to us just complained about the coffee selection, was outraged he could not get a cappuccino in Portland, and then was so rude to the hostess, I was embarrassed. It's a deli and coffee snobs is just two doors down and they don't serve pastrami idiot. Service: Always good, not much to do here except order and wait for your food. It comes as quickly as it can so be understanding when it is slammed. Value: Extraordinary, A great place if your a tourist or local and if you require a perfect cappuccino maybe get your drinkie before or after you dine, this is a deli.

Yelp
Surprised to read in Eater Portland that an old favorite (across the street from The Mark Spencer), had filed for bankruptcy. While in the Pearl District, I had to revisit Kenny & Zuke's Delicatessen for a late lunch (dunch? linner? 9/25/19) I like the large windows, lots of natural light especially on this warm, early autumn afternoon. The wait staff all were personable: chatted up some regulars and attentive for others like me passing through. Being on the road, I didn't want to have any leftovers. The wait person and kitchen crew were kind to allow me to have a lunch special despite being after the cutoff time. This comprised of a smaller deli choice with a side ($10.95). I also ordered an apricot rugelach ($2.25 each). More tepid water, but got to keep hydrated as I took in the surroundings. After wrapping up a phone call, I was able to have check out my late lunch selections. The half pastrami on rye was flavorful, but some parts were drier and lean vs others were succulent with a bit of fat. Skipped half the rye and the mustard, dabbed drier bits in the thousand island dressing. Vinegary potato salad and a pickle spear were savored to awaken the taste buds. It was good to have a proper, leisurely meal. The wait person gave me an extra apricot rugelach with a wink, saying one isn't enough. Well, not having visited my NYC birthplace (yet)...still the best rugelach I've tasted remains in Vancouver BC surprisingly. A popular Seattle deli/bakery only sells them by the pound. So having the opportunity to order them individually was welcomed, ended up wrapping them in a spare napkin though. I hope this restaurant group are able to pull through and settle their financial challenges. I'm just glad to have visited a favorite from several years ago. Classic Jewish deli fare and welcoming wait staff.

Nathan M.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I have nothing good to say about this visit. My issues in chronological order: 1) Cashier was chatting up the party in front of me - took them something like 8 minutes to place the order and pay. 2) I waited for about 25 min for a toasted bagel with cream cheese, with only a party or two ahead of me. 3) The line cook had his mask down, chin diaper style and was wiping his nose regularly and singing while preparing food, in full view of the dining room. Come on, man. 4) Once I got my bagel, it was not packaged to go, as requested. It was also not warm and very stale. It was the afternoon, so I guess I can understand the stale, but I can say that given the total time spent on this experience, it is the worst bagel I have ever had. It would appear that there is a shortage of staff and managerial attention. My biggest issue is the long wait. If it requires raising the price of everything by $1-2 to have a 10 min or less wait time during a non peak hour, then that is more than worth it to me. I don't think it is reasonable to expect customers to spend 30 minutes for a bagel and cream cheese. Substantial leisure walk-in business on a Sat afternoon is a predictable business condition. Would have been way faster and more satisfying to just go to a grocery store.

Claire C.

Yelp
My hubby's very delicious lox bagel with schmear. I'm excited to come back to try the chicken salad.

Kiran B.

Yelp
Try the cheddar bagel with scallion cream cheese! I promise you won't regret it! The space is large and allows for comfort with social distancing. Love the ambiance and friendly staff!

Valeria R.

Yelp
Came to Kenny & Zuke's page to write my review and was surprised to see a low-ish rating and so many disappointed Yelpers. I feel like we must have gotten lucky on our two visits last week. First visit was for breakfast on Friday. My daughter got the corned beef hash and happily cleaned her plate. At the server's suggestion, I had the 2-2-2, which included two eggs, two latkes, and two strips of pastrami. I've never had latkes before so I have no frame of reference, but I liked these okay. They were crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside and tasted like Thanksgiving. The pastrami, though...I LOVED IT. Not only was it the best thing on my plate, it was the best thing I ate during my entire Portland visit, and we ate at A LOT of places. The pastrami had a smokiness that I just couldn't get enough of. I cut the two strips into little pieces to try to trick myself into feeling like there was more of it and felt sad when the last piece was gone. I knew that I'd have to come back before we left town. On our way out of Portland yesterday, we stopped in again for sandwiches for the road. The pastrami was just as good as the first time. I'm sitting here wishing I had more of it right now. Why doesn't ALL pastrami taste like that??? I guess I have to start trying pastrami all over SF until I find something that comes close. Sigh. P.S. Their mustard is really good too...I bought bottles to give as souvenirs. :-)

Alice L.

Yelp
I still miss this deli!! My brother is a huge fan of pastrami, so we ordered pastrami sandwiches to go for lunch one day on our trip to Portland to eat on a hike. Little did I know that it would be the best pastrami sandwich I had ever had. I honestly wasn't the biggest fan of pastrami, but now I feel like it is because I had never had true pastrami from a great deli! The meat was so flavorful and there was little to no fat!! I really wish I had the chance to eat this again and kind of regret not having it once more prior to leaving, so if you have the chance, definitely check this place out! You won't regret it!!

RJ M.

Yelp
Went here for a Fathers day lunch since Kornblatt's is closed and I have to say that most of our party couldn't even finish our food. Not because the serving size was large, but because it was barely palatable. Extremely disappointed by this place and could have literally gone to Arby's for a better sandwich so if you're reading this to find out if you should go here... just don't. Service wasn't terrible so good job I guess.

Timothy G.

Yelp
I don't like posting negative reviews. Any review of my yelp will note there are very few. I will start with the positive. The pastrami sandwich was VERY good. Near great. It isn't the typical pastrami sandwich - much more of its fat is rendered than typical, the brine is a bit more mild, and the meat as a whole has more in common with brisket than it does with what you would find at Katz' or 2nd Avenue Deli in NYC as a comparison. Additionally, nearly every time I have gone to Kenny & Zuke's it has been a great experience. Sadly, I must say, this time was not the case. I sincerely hope management reads this and doesn't take it as rabid criticism to be cruel - but as a fan of the establishment a wake up call. The service was terrible. When ordering I didn't immediately see a plain pastrami sandwich on the menu. I talked with the cashier and we settled on a classic (minus the kraut, cheese, and relish - with just the pastrami and mustard). It occupied nearly the entirety of the conversation. We also ordered matzo ball soup. Sadly, they were out out of Dr. Brown's (although they still had cans in the window). We waited for 45 minutes witnessing multiple parties receive their meals who had ordered long after us. The shop was obviously understaffed. However, the three working often would stop for long periods and talk, all leaving the kitchen and counter space for extended periods of time leaving the shop totally unattended. One cook would go back and forth from the counter space to the kitchen without washing their hands. Another cooked the entire time without a mask. Now this is a kitchen area that is shared with the dining - same air circulation and everything. This is why it is pointed out. The space itself was dirty, even by understaffed standards, and it was nearly empty, so it was obvious. After ordering we felt a deflated feeling that this place is slipping. Then the wait increased that to mild anger. When our food arrived the sandwich was a ruben. Which they then explained they would have to make a new sandwich and it would "take a while". Finally, one of the staff said, it is just pastrami and mustard we'll do it right away. The matzo was the most bland I have ever had, reheated stock with what looked to be deli meat chicken. It didn't have the luxury of a meaty, fatty stock that makes matzo the comfort food of choice for so many. I really, sincerely, hope this was a one off experience, but if it isn't - please take notice and try to right the ship. This is a gem of place for downtown Portland. I know times are tough. I hope you get through it.

Jeff D.

Yelp
I was passing through Portland looking for a place to have lunch. I wanted to make the most of it so I searched a few articles for best sandwiches in town. They led me to this place--duped by the internet again. I should maybe qualify this by mentioning I live in Los Angeles, where, let's just say, there's a high standard for deli food. Not like New York maybe, but... The pastrami was dry, sour, and over-seasoned. The bread crust was unyielding. And for this they make you wait, and charge you a pretty penny. Why pastrami in Portland? Why not some nice, fresh seafood? Guess I was in the mood. But every city deserves a good deli--and if you can't judge a deli by its pastrami... But judging also by the feel of this place, its problems run deeper than one--albeit key--dish. They're Portland problems.

Yelp
Got lunch special toasted half turkey sandwhich added mayo mustard and avocado. Yummy wheat rye bread. Generous portion with tons of real roasted turkey breast. Came with side salad with roasted red pepper vignagrette dressing.Lunch special doesn't come with chips so I added it. Delicious! Husband had lunch special with corned beef on white rye. Massive amounts of beef,he loved it. I

Yelp
Can't comment on the bagels as after walking 15 minutes in the rain to arrive shortly after the 8am opening time posted on their site, and waiting at the door for a few minutes with three employees standing in the shop ignoring us, we were told they weren't going to open til 8:30...I've got an idea, show up at work on time!

Jane G.

Yelp
Best bagels ever! Rye bagel is better than K&Z's previous rye bread. The service was spot on for my Husband's B day. Pastrami better than NYC Katz's Deli. Pass up NYC entirely and go to PDX's Kenny & Zuke's. New location is set up perfectly. Come for "THE KZ Bagel Works Experience"!!!

Tavo R.

Yelp
The food was just okay. I would give 3 stars at least if it wasn't for the customer service. Though staff was friendly, they were very inattentive, and hanging out with friends who were present. At times would take a while before acknowledging that someone walked in simply because they were too busy chatting away with friends at the tables. One of them even had the audacity to say they were mad that it was busy when they were helping two people. That's not busy, that's just upset that they can't hangout with their friends. There needs to be some sort of management here to ensure staff is on task and tentative to customers.

Alex B.

Yelp
Chocolate milkshake - WOW! For them not making formal milkshakes this is beyond fantastic. Just missing a cherry Matzah ball soup - Good! Chicken was moist, broth was rich with flavor and the Matzah was just the right balance of chew Pastrami sandwich - 5 stars! Yes. Salty but fantastic flavor. Would get again in a heartbeat. Chicken liver - I heard it was good. Fried chicken - Wednesday special. Fried in duck fat in a cast-iron skillet. Meh. It was okay. Didn't care for the batter and the potatoes were not good. The biscuit was, however! Wouldn't order again. I'd give an added star for the music too! Staff was very friendly and attentive. Appreciated the ambiance and how bright the restaurant was from the windows. 3.75-4 Next time I'd try the reuben and the corned beef.

Yelp
It pains me to write a bad review for Kenny & Zukes, but quality and service has steadily gone downhill over the years. Came in on a slow Sunday and waited over half an hour for a to-go order. Received sloppily assembled sandwiches, one of which was the wrong order. Flavor is fine, bread was a disappointment, portions are huge, but surprisingly expensive for just meat slapped on bread. It's a bummer, K&Z's used to be a great spot. No longer worth the wait, the price, the attitude from the servers, or the hasty plating.

Yelp
Food is good but so damn expensive. $14 for egg salad on a tiny sesame bagel. Pandemic really best this place up, looks run down as hell and kinda struggling for life.

Yelp
We had the misfortune to order three meals at this location today. The turkey sandwich was very basic with some potato chips, no pickle, nothing other than mayo and mustard, the bacon and eggs were disgusting, as was the vegetarian hash. And it was $57.00 for three "meals". The bacon was burned, the eggs were over done and the potatoes were greasy. The vegetarian hash was inedible along with the greasy potatoes. Service was slow, the tables were dirty and the trash bins overflowing. Covid will be the excuse for poor service but NOT for badly prepared, very expensive food. IHOP would have been a better breakfast option, actually anywhere else would have been an improvement. This place must survive on unsuspecting visitors who don't realize the problems until it is too late.

Yelp
They posted that they're open until 4pm. I just drove 20 min to come here. It's 3:45pm & when I went in a young man & lady told me that they're closing hhr early. I told them that their website said open until 4pm. They really didn't care. Will never go back again. Damn...hire people that will do their job!

Yelp
I get this uncontrollable craving for a hot pastrami sandwich about once a year and I gotta tell you Kenny & Zuke's always goes above that craving I got a 2 pound sandwich with thick luscious cuts of a pastrami that took me through two meals...thanks Kenny and Zuke's

Yelp
Best authentic bagels! We've sampled other versions in town. These are the best. The taste & density is perfection. Simple place with great food. The matzo ball soup: broth has so much depth! We drive over from Washington just yo take food home. Well worth it!

Yelp
Maybe some of the worst service in town. Came here on Mother's Day with my mom. We ordered at the counter and already had a issue because the new guy charged us more than what it says on the menu. It says $1 extra for a bagel. Period. Not $2 for a bagel. Then we sit down and are food comes and it is the tiniest portion on the planet. We spent $20 for corned beef hash and it looked like someone ate half of it! Also it didn't come with a bagel which we specifically asked for. It came with gluten free toast?!!!! Then the server had the AUDACITY TO TELL US WE WERE WRONG. LIKE THE FUCK NOT. I DIDNT ORDER GLUTEN FREE TOAST. Don't bother coming here. Complete waste of time.

Yelp
Really disappointed! This used to be my go to for a sandwich. Today I had a Kens Favorite also my favorite! What used to be an amazing sandwich was merely passable. First let's talk price at $17.95 I'm expecting more than 4 slices of pastrami! The liver and slaw were at normal levels so no complaints there. But 4 slices of meat 2 slices of bread and a handful of chips! I didn't even get a fucking pickle! And this dish used to come with fries or potato salad. None of which were offered as I didn't know they were now add-ons at additional $$. Then there's the challah French toast at $13 for three slices of bread egg wash and syrup! No fruit not even an orange slice! COVID has hit this place hard! It'll be lucky to survive at this rate. The nearly empty indoors on Mother's Day should have been a Warning!

Yelp
Sometimes I love this place and sometimes I don't. The food is really hit or miss. I've had the pastrami on days when it's amazing and others when it's burnt and flavorless. I don't know if the cook is having a bad day or it's a different cook, but it's really bizarre. Service is usually good, but sometimes the servers are dirt slow and it takes forever to get your food. They have terrific bagels though, and their lox is out of this world. But when you get a LLC bagel you don't get a lot of lox. So the price is just fair for the food. It's worth stopping in. Hopefully you get a good day.

Yelp
They just served me the best smoked pastrami I ever tasted by far. They could rebrand themselves as The Holy Brisket and it would not be an exaggeration. And that's all I've got to say.

Yelp
Overpriced, underwhelming service, mediocre food and a bathroom with similar feel as a gas station's. Couldn't spend $18 on a bagel w/ lox so opted for their special of the day. Waitperson didn't check on us once after our food arrived and we had to wait until we were both finished before getting served a coffee refill.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast, average service & a bit pricey (depending on what you order) but their ingredients are quality. I had the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs and it was the 2nd best corned beef hash I've ever had (sorry, the best was at a diner in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin). The Hubs had their Pastrami & Eggs and that was some darn tasty pastrami, too. Both breakfasts were generous portions. We also took a couple of their bagel dogs home to have another day and they were very good, even after being frozen for a week. They have a themed family-style dinner once a month on a Sunday, too. Check with the restaurant or their website for details. For January, February & March the themed monthly family-style meals are crab, tapas and Middle Eastern.

Yelp
I had not been to this place in several years (but had good experiences previously) and was utterly shocked at the level of grime and filth coating every surface. I went ahead and ordered a deviled egg sandwich and sat down at the least dirty table after wiping it down with some napkins. The table was incredibly wobbly, so I moved after repeating the cleaning process on another table. The sandwich, with the cole slaw upgrade was 18$ (not cheap). It had lettuce with brown, necrotic edges, which I tore off. Nothing else was on the sandwich except a blob of egg salad (which itself was good). The bread (rye) was mediocre and served cold. Like it had been in a fridge. No one asked if I wanted it toasted, which probably would have improved it. The plate these items came on was straight up paper chinette, and was too small for the two items (BTW I know for sure chinette makes an oval plate bigger - I guess K and Z can't afford them?) so the sandwich hung off the end and dripped egg onto the table just getting the first bite. Getting a better look around, the windows, floor, counters, handwashing area (on the side of the kitchen), sink, pipes, every table - deeply imprinted with various smears, solid food particles, handprints and clumps of greasy dust. In addition, ant traps containing dead ants were left in several areas on the counters. The handwashing sink and soap dispensers in the dining area were particularly repulsive, with a mouldering, stained cleaning rag in the sink. There were four other customers in the place, it was virtually empty at 12:15 PM on a Thursday. Most of the barns I've been in are far cleaner. Many other reviews in the past year have mentioned some of these things. In my mind, all of this is chronic neglect and a recipe for possibly making your clientele sick. Tellingly, the owners were not present. There is no excuse for this: cleanliness is fundamental. It's not an option. As far as I can tell, the owners don't give a damn about this place or their customers and are off somewhere else, with their heads buried in the sand, allowing it to die a slow, undignified end. Avoid Kenny and Zukes.

Yelp
Got their original pastrami sandwich and loaded cheesy fries! Really big portions and tasty sandwich. Pastrami was just a bit dry for my liking. Friendly customer service.

Yelp
I have been there between 2 and 3 in afternoon several times in the past couple of months to order food to go and was told they were closed. What a horrible way to run a business. Don't waste your time it's very unpredictable.

Ernie B.

Yelp
Used to be a favorite of mine. Went in today and it is quite apparent that the company went through bankruptcy. Compared to the past (pre-Covid), everything is worse: ordering, prices, service, cleanliness, food portion, menu items and atmosphere. About the only thing unchanged is the pastrami. I hope they get back to running a good business which is hard to do in downtown these days, but a little bit of effort would go along way.

Yelp
We use to eat here regularly, and loved their L.E.O. scramble for breakfast. Now they only offer bagels and sandwiches. As delicious as they are, it's not what we want. We'll be going elsewhere.

Yelp
Sorely disappointed that Kevin & Frankys across the street was closed on a Sunday, so I decided to try this spot...utterly disappointed. Pastrami was inedible; it was stringy, rubbery, tough to eat. Sandwich I ordered was way overpriced ($25 for a goddamn sandwich)! The sandwich was too dry and it tasted so bland. Never coming back again.

Yelp
We only tried the one at the airport. $19 Rueben was kind of steep and it did not even come with any sides like fries, salad and etc. The Rueben was ok, not enough sauerkraut and it was not exactly piled high like the New York style. All in all, not bad of a sandwich but don't think it's worth $19.
