It's a serene setting, and the silence will soothe you. Sleep in until noon if you wish - leisurely breakfasts extend until 3pm, so you won't miss out. The central location makes it an ideal base for forays to historical sites, vineyards, nature reserves and beaches. After a day out, return for a dip in the refreshing plunge pool, then contemplate your dinner venue - trendy Kloof Street is just a stroll away. Exceptionally well run, the service at Kensington Place is professional and personal. Staff will happily arrange day trips or dinner reservations at hard-to-book restaurants, and they'll even rustle you up a sandwich as a midnight snack. You'll leave feeling extremely well looked after. Highs Waking up in a supremely comfortable bed to watch the sunrise over Table Bay The stylish interiors and the friendly, young staff The location is handy for some of Cape Town's hippest bars and restaurants Breakfast is served until mid afternoon and there's room service so you can work to your own schedule The hotel generates back-up power from solar panels, so isn't affected by power cuts Lows Kensington Place will be closed for renovations from mid-July to mid-August 2025 Apart from soft background music, you'll hear little noise – a high for some, but others may find it too quiet and laid-back You will need to book early - with only 8 rooms, it's small and very popular with business travellers Only children aged 12 years and over are accepted" - Nikki Tinto

Kensington Place | Best places to stay in Cape Town

"It has been called Cape Town’s ‘coolest bolt-hole’, and it’s easy to see why; edgy interiors blend handpicked designer furniture and African art, all wrapped up in seamless hospitality. Hidden in the suburb of Higgovale, just below Table Mountain, this hotel is close to all the city offers, from nightlife to beaches.   Each thoughtfully designed suite has a unique identity and reflects the well-travelled owner’s meticulous eye for detail.  Breakfast is served when you want it, so there’s no need to watch the clock, and room service is 24 hours too.  The setting is sublime. Table Mountain rises up behind it and it has views of the Lion’s Head to the left and the city below.    " - Richard Holmes

My husband and I traveled to South Africa for my birthday, and can’t say enough about the Kensington Place. We loved it here. We stayed in room 8, which had a wonderful view of Table Mountain. The rooms were well designed, so lovely, and literally spotless. The beds were comfortable, and they provide hot water bottles in the bed during turn down service for chillier evenings. The bathroom felt like an outdoor oasis. The grounds overall are so beautiful, and the entire place has an art deco feel. This is boutique hotel at its finest. Lastly the food was awesome and included gluten free options, such as bread! The service is top notch, and we appreciated the security staff that greeted us every time we left or returned back to the hotel. Kensington is in a great location near Kloof street and in a safe area. We will gladly come back anytime we are in Cape town.

My husband and I stayed at Kensington Place for 5 nights. It was absolutely wonderful! The location is beautiful, super close to Table Mountain as well as excellent restaurants on Kloof Street. |Every person working there was extremely helpful, attentive and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was the best it could be—from making dinner reservations for us, providing tasty afternoon snacks with tea and little extras the whole entire time. |Kensington Place is luxurious and comfortable all at the same time. We felt welcomed and truly hope to return here again!|Thank you!!

A gorgeous, tranquil retreat in a quiet corner of Cape Town. The property was a dream, and made our honeymoon in Cape Town so special. There's so much to rave about - the rooms were adorable, clean and comfortable; the breakfast food was delicious, and the staff was incredible and friendly. Plus there were beautiful views of Table Mountain. The property isn't in the heart of Cape Town but EASILY accessible and quick to the top attractions. Plus, walkable to a few great restaurants on Kloof Street - the staff was great at recommending options. Highly recommend staying here!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the four nights we stayed at Kensington Place. It is exactly what we were looking for: small, well appointed boutique hotel with spectacular service in a quiet location.||||The facilities were in great shape and everything was always very clean. The only thing I could recommend improving, and it just might be personal taste is that the mattress was more firm than I prefer.||||The food was nothing but great. We enjoyed complimentary breakfast each morning with no complaints whatsoever. The menu was the same each morning, but great variety.||We also had one dinner there, which again was fantastic. I had the mushroom ravioli, and it might have been the best ravioli dish I’ve ever had.||||The service is where I feel this hotel really separates themselves and shines. Every single person we came in touch with exceeded our expectations. From security, to front desk to food service. They bent over backwards to make sure you were well taken care of.||||This hotel checked all of the boxes. Don’t hesitate in booking.

From the moment we arrived, we loved the location, atmosphere and vibes. Kensington Place's receptionist greeted us with a drink and cold towels. She even went through our trip itinerary to give us tips and ideas for our stay - we received a complimentary wine bottle in our room when we arrived. Every night there was a lovely sweet treat waiting for us, with the temperature of the next day! The breakfast was nothing short of amazing - the golden turmeric latte and pancakes were my face. Such a beautiful hotel, Thank you Kensington Place for a wonderful stay!

I wish I could live at Kensington place! The location was fabulous, being set back from the hustle and bustle of the city in the garden district with lovely views. The staff were top notch (Mathias, Hope, Gillian, Bright, Nikki to name a few) in their friendly nature and being helpful in terms of navigating the city and any of my needs at the time. I absolutely loved my spacious and very comfortable room, it's view and the complimentary bottle of wine I received upon my arrival. The food there is also quite amazing! I love the quaint nature of this boutique hotel and would recommend it to anyone. I hope to return one day!

My husband and I stayed here for five nights at the beginning of our South Africa adventure. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly attentive. It is in a beautiful location set back from Cape Town, and only minutes from Table Mountain. Quiet, peaceful and private. Our room was contemporary, clean and cozy. I could not fault the staff. They couldn’t do enough for us. I didn’t even have to do my own ironing. I was told we don’t iron on holiday. They were also very informative and recommended several restaurants to eat and booked these for us. The food was wonderful, especially the breakfast. My favourite was the eggs benedict with smoked salmon (florentine) and the fresh fruit. If you are looking for a unique retreat at the foot of Table Mountain this is definitely the place to be. I would highly recommend it.

Kensington Place was a perfect little oasis and introduction to Capetown. We stayed here after a week of safari, and our cravings for privacy, luxury, and a bit of upscale city life were certainly met. Our room had the bonus of a fireplace, perfect for the cooler September days. The warmer days were equally as lovely, spent next to the gorgeous, quiet pool. Dining here was outstanding, and it was lovely to have in room options available. Breakfast set up for us on our balcony overlooking the mountains was unforgettable. Very close to table mountain too. We had the most serene visit to Kensington Place!
