GREAT K V Kathakali centre.

Loved the performance. This is the first time I am seeing a Kathakali perfomance, and it completely immersive to see the narrator cum singer explain the bavas. If you come and hour early, you can see the make-up. What I loved about the entire performance is how much they show respect before starting the makeup, before starting the performance. Loved it so much! Must visit. P.S: Please read the story they give us print out and follow the demonstration so you get as immersed as I did with the show.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, an introduction to Kathakali as a dance form, it's unique make up, the significance of the eye movement and facial expressions. Mesmerizing. There is so much devotion to the Art that is so visible. Even for a short program,the depth of the artists involvement is so rich. So happy and proud of our culture. Highly recommend this to visitors.

Amazing show that showcases the traditional dance of Kathakali. The venue, the artists, the musicians, the singer were all worked together to present an amazing show. They also explain about the history and meaning behind the performance which actually adds to the experience. We also attended the make up hour, where artists are getting ready for their performance. I loved the singing and the drum and other instruments being played. Such dedication from everyone was mind blowing. A must watch if you are in Kerala.

I highly recommend the Great Kathakali Center for experiencing Kathakali at its finest. It was one of the most surreal experiences of my travels in South India. The stage was set up beautifully, with old wooden doors as the backdrop, creating an atmosphere that felt timeless. Watching the performers transform during the makeup process and bring an entire theatrical world to life was truly mesmerizing. We also had the chance to listen to classical Carnatic music. Hearing the veena played in a candle-lit setting, under a full moon, was a deeply moving, almost soul-changing experience. The curator was one of the most passionate people I’ve ever met. We spoke with him at length, and his kindness and love for the art form were incredibly inspiring. Overall, a magical, unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

I watched a Kathakali performance in Kerala, and it was really good. The makeup, expressions, and storytelling were impressive and gave a great insight into Kerala’s culture. I also watched the Kerala martial arts (Kalaripayattu) show, and it was an amazing experience. The athletes were highly skilled, well trained, and a pleasure to watch. Even though the crowd was smaller than Kathakali, it was just as exciting. Definitely a must-watch, and I highly recommend people DON’T MISS IT!!

Members of our group enjoyed a cooking class. It was very interactive, instructive, and tasted absolutely delicious! Eleven of us attended the kalari payittu, a local martial arts demonstration. We didn’t know what to expect from a stage based performance, but it was incredible! Individual demonstrations and hand-to-hand combat - including with knives and swords - showed an impressive level of skill, strength and agility.

We had booked a Kathali show for seven of us. We had a nice experience witnessing the traditional art form. The artists took time and effort to explain to the audience the intricacies of the art form. Their passion was visible in their performance. Thank you for the unique experience.
