Had a great, delicious time here! We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were amazing—I’ve always wanted to try them. I had the breakfast tacos (scrambled tofu, vegan chorizo and cheese), and they were really, really nice. Good portion for the price, super tasty. It came with a sauce (didn’t try the sauce - not really a sauce person) My friend had the avocado toast, and she really liked it. Portion was just right for her too. We also had a lemonade (a bit too sweet for us) and two coffees, and they gave us refills (We’re not used to refills, so we always enjoy that in the U.S.) The place was big, the crowd was friendly, the person who served us was great. Definitely recommend!

Google
the vegan plate is my favorite here , they have the best tofu scramble and veggie patties . im not vegan so i sub out the pancakes and today i got the blueberry cornbread ones and they were SO GOOD ! i also got the orange mocha and it was so tasty , my mom got the cinnamon swirl latte and it was so so delicious too.

Google
Great service from the moment we walked out the door. As the DD, my friend needed a little extra care to get food into her. Our server, I'm so sorry I didn't get your name, was very attentive and helped ensure my friend was feeding quickly and before anyone else. Thank you so much for your attention to detail. Food was pretty good and I wasn't disappointed. It was ideal for the slightly Inebriated friend who needed food fast. The icing on the cake, my friend left her phone in the booth and they kept it safe for two days until she could get back down south. Thank you so much. 🙌🏻

Real strawberries in the lemonade! Some places will use pre bottled stuff, so I'm glad Kirby Lane uses the real deal. The food is standard Austin prices, but the portions are decently sized in my opinion because I usually always have leftovers to take home or share. I feel a little mixed about the atmosphere- the staff has a high turnover rate because it's close to a university and mostly students work there, so it's not like one of those classic diners where if you come here often they will learn your order. I think the food does taste decent, enough to bring your friends and family, but not somewhere I would want to come often.

This is my second time coming to Kerbey Lane Cafe (this time to a different location) and I continue to be impressed. I started with a blueberry mojito, which had a gorgeous purple color and was delicious after mixing it a bit with a spoon. Then I had their classic eggs Benedict, which consisted of two halves of a toasted English muffin, each topped with a ham steak, a poached egg, and hollandaise sauce. So rich and savory, I devoured it! The eggs Benedict also come with your choice of one breakfast side. I chose the buttery biscuit, which comes with two small Smucker’s jam packs. I ate this for my “dessert”, and it was probably the most underwhelming part of the meal. The biscuit was a little dry and not as buttery as expected.

Alex was our server. She was very friendly and attentive. She kept our drinks filled. The food was quite tasty and flavorful.

I've been to this location once before and both times the atmosphere and food were good. But this time, my server, Tara, was very attentive, made sure that my order was correct, and checked in often to make sure things were okay. Furthermore she was very patient when I was looking over the menu as I was deciding between the Cuban Benedict and the Mac and Cheese Trio. I ended up going with the Mac this time, and I was informed that the portion size would be large, which, of course, I didn't believe until it came out. Surely, Tara was right, and it was a good sized portion. I also got the Cinnamon swirl latte with oat milk and no whipped cream, which really hit. All in all, I'm glad I came today, and the service was excellent! Made my day!

Google
Food was amazing! However, the waiting time was crazy long. We sat at the bar for a shorter waiting seating time, however, our food took 30-40min to come out. Our meals were seating there for an excessive long time, which made the meals cold. I really enjoyed the food and coffees, but the waiting time didn’t seemed worth it.

Yelp
We recently ate here for lunch and there were highs and lows. I'll start with the lows because you should always end on a positive note. We were seated and there was a dead roach under our table and another one struggling on its back across from us. Then the flies started dive bombing our table. Needless to say the ambience was lacking. Enter server..... Like a beacon of hope, our lovely tattooed server Sarah came to take our order. She was super attentive, checked on us several times and was super friendly. The cleanliness was terrible, the food was really good, but the server was amazing.

Yelp
A UT classic whenever you crave queso! Cowboy Queso is a stable appetizer and always hits the spot with the pico de gallo, guacamole, and beans. I got the Salmon Tacos and thought everything was cooked well, I was hoping for a little more salmon though. My friend got David's Enchiladas (and I had a bite!) and we thought it was yummy. It's all you could ask for a plate of enchiladas and sides. Service is always super friendly and if you get lucky, a waitress will draw you and your friends on your receipt/ to-go box!

Yelp
We stopped in on our way home from an overnight trip, and boy am I so glad we did! It's really not much to look at, tucked away beside a local bar, but man oh man was it wonderful! The food was amazing, super fresh and made to order, and I just can't say enough about the Green Chile Mac & Cheese. My son's burger looked scrumptious, made of Wagyu beef I might add, and my husband's grilled chicken pesto panini was perfect. The real show stopper was our waitress, Achi. Super fast and efficient with a warm, inviting smile - it was really a joy to watch her work. Table to table she went, same sweet smile and exuding joy in what she does. She even personalized our to-go box and receipt and wished us a happy New Year. If we're ever back in Austin we'll be sure to swing by again - delicious food, convenient location, epic staff.

Yelp
I ordered online for pickup. I got the jr breakfast platter with choice of pancake, side (I chose bacon) and egg. Everything was prepared as expected and on time. Chocolate pancake was huge and delicious. The bacon was crispy, yummmmm. The egg was ok- I asked for over medium, but it was overcooked. Overall, I'm as happy with this location as I am with others in town. I'd order again. Reasonably priced, too.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot and consistently gets things right for the money. Waits can be long so be prepared

Yelp
order- chicken & pancakes This plate came with 2 big, fluffy pancakes sprinkled with powdered sugar and a fried chicken breast. It came with a side of syrup and a side of spicy maple buffalo sauce. To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Buffalo sauce but this one was super good. chicken + spicy maple buffalo sauce & pancakes + syrup = flavor explosion ‍

Yelp
Nice little spot to grab some great food and drinks. Service was amazing as well. Asked for the top three dishes and was given a very in-depth description of each along with portion sizes of each and what to expect. That hasn't happened in quite a while, highly impressed. Now, for the food... Pictures do not paint the entire story. You have to get in here and try for yourself.

Eric F.

Yelp
Service was okay, but the food left much to be desired. The biscuits and gravy were awful. Seriously, how do you serve a bad biscuit and bland gravy? Might as well have been school paste topped with bland, nearly tasteless goop. At least the coffee was good. I've memories of Kerby Lane - the real deal on Kerby Lane - being the best cafe in town, this place gives the original a bad name.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service. I had the seared salmon with tamarind glazed Brussels sprouts which was surprisingly good. The parking lot is small and does fill up during lunch.
google avatar

Angel C.

Yelp
I mean, it's too expensive to basically serve you stuff you can easily make at home. The "ambiance" is sticky tables, bare lunch hall furniture, and college kids. Yay. Can we talk about $10 queso? That isn't good? I was tired of hearing this being defined as "culture" at UT.

Yelp
I ordered on Uber Eats, as this place had been showing up in my recommendations for a minute. And I'm under the weather and was looking for some comfort food to pick me up. Boy was I mistaken. The food leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered the "Crispy Chicken Benedict," which they advertised as,"fried all-natural chicken breast, poached eggs, citrus marinated onions, Hollandaise, green chile sauce, home-style biscuit." Where do I begin? The "crispy chicken breast" was two chicken fingers! Chicken fingers on a benedict is abominable, let alone not at all what is in the description! The "poached" egg was anything but poached as one egg was just about done. The green chile sauce...why? Like that should have been my cue to avoid ordering here. The potatoes might as well have been yesterday's batch reheated. I do not recommend eating here, unless less than mediocre is satisfying enough for you.

Yelp
5-stars for the timeless pancakes, which in my opinion, are the best I've ever had in the entire world. They have seasonal and weekly flavors - today I tried the lemon poppy seed. You really can't go wrong with just the regular buttermilk pancakes. Regardless of whether you're dining for breakfast or lunch, consider ordering their famous Kerbey Queso! An absolute treat.

Yelp
Kerbey Lane used to be a great place. The dedication to serving good and real food sourced locally as much as possible was why I liked the place. The owners had a standard and they stuck with it. Well, until recently. Last night I ordered an Eggs Benedict. Got a side of toast. On the plate with the toast was a pre-packaged plastic container of vegetable oil - margarine. Kerbey Lane always served fresh real butter in a small ramekin). And the little plastic containers of Smucker's jelly, which contain high fructose corn syrup and corn syrup. Plus, those little plastic containers are just more garbage going into the landfill. I asked the manager if they had butter at all. I was told no, meaning anything in the restaurant that needed butter was being made with margarine now. Because butter costs too much. ** Because butter costs too much. ** When you sacrifice your standards due to price you sacrifice the reputation and trust you've spent decades building. Better to raise the price of the food you serve with pride than to lower your standards like you're trying to dance the limbo. How low can you go? The irony is that the founder of Smucker's is quoted as saying "We must take a stand for higher ideals if our life is to have counted for anything." And now the company has no higher ideals. Same, apparently, for Kerbey Lane. What else have they substituted out because it costs too much? Are they even getting produce and meats as locally as they can anymore? I don't know, now will I. I've been dining at Kerbey Lane since 2004 because it was a local business. I'll take my business to other locally-owned restaurants from now on. I can no longer trust that Kerbey Lane cares about principles anymore.

Yelp
We stayed at the Moxy Hotel and ate breakfast here both mornings! Everything we had was delicious. We ate later and I love salads, so I got the Cobb salad both days and it was amazing! My mom had the Harvest Omelet the first day and really enjoyed it. But she joined me with the Cobb salad day two. Service was friendly and quick! Restaurant was very clean. Overall everything was great, highly recommend!

Yelp
Achi was an amazing server! She was super sweet and even drew my family and I on our receipt. Great service! :)
google avatar

Yelp
Food was cold. My salmon tacos came on a cold tortilla??? Server forgot my drink. Forgot my water. The floor was dirty while there was a Busser standing in the corner instead of sweeping that dirty floor!!
google avatar

Yelp
We had some Austinite friends recommend Kerbey Lane for breakfast and it did not disappoint! Service was fast and friendly and the place gave off "modern diner" vibes. At the university location, we saw a mix of college kids rolling out of bed, retirees, and parents of college kids likely meeting the bf/gf for the first time (an interesting crowd but to be honest, I feel like it's a good sign for a breakfast place). I had the Paris Texas Platter with pumpkin bread as my French toast and the verde sauce for my migas. Both were amazing, but it was definitely enough for two people if you want to split sweet and savory! I ended up taking a lot of the French toast home (which made a tasty snack)!
google avatar

Jade B.

Yelp
This place was giving hole in the wall diner vibes. Our service was great, waiter was super friendly, and it really was no frills, straight to the point. My sweet potatoe hash was really flavorful and a perfect breakfast item for the fall. The food took along time to come, but I'm patient so i wasn't too bothered!

Yelp

Yelp
So the service was the best part. Our waitress was perfectly awesome. The food was as you'd expect for breakfast. I liked that they had a wide variety and a seasonal option. They seem to also be vegan friendly. I did not love how it wasn't clean. From Behind the scenes in the open kitchen to the tables and plating / glassware. Portions are grand as was the cappuccino. I wouldn't really return on my own volition.
google avatar

Yelp
An affordable diner with great breakfast food near the university! The wait was about 20 minutes on a Friday morning and the food came out quick and was tasty with large portions. Highly recommend the cinnamon roll pancakes
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Very good casual American restaurant in the university area where parking is not easy to find and costly, so the free parking in the adjoining lot is an added bonus. Inner part of dining room feels a bit dark and tables a bit too close together but the booth and banquette seats along the windows are bright and quite pleasant. Service was efficient. Food good too, my fish tacos were super delicious with tasty corn tortillas.

Marisol B.

Yelp
Had the most amazing server last Saturday for brunch with friends, named James. He was so amenable and made our late comers to the table feel welcomed and always paid attention to our needs and was quick to assist. I hope this young guy gets the recognition he deserves!! The food of course was amazing too

Andro K.

Yelp
I get take out here quite often, dine in every once in a while. No complaints. My takeout is always packaged properly and still hot when I get home.

Yelp
Just wanted to say that achi is the sweetest waitress I have ever had . She was so attentive sweet and made my day instantly better 10/10 would recommend having her
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
Love the vibe and good food at this location! ! It's our 2nd time in and i would say the the entire staff from the hosts to all the servers were so amazing and friendly ., not to mention the food also a thumbs up Achi was amazing as a waitress all the way around 5 stars

Yelp
i come to kerbey lane every time i visit austin because the food is so good every time. our server was so sweet and the restaurant was very lively
google avatar

Hayden S.

Yelp
We LOVE Kerbey Lane and are sure to visit every time we're in Austin! Our go-to items are the cowboy queso and the cinnamon swirl pancakes and they never let us down. If you go during peak times be prepared to wait, but this morning we went early, were seated right away, received great service, and the food was delicious as usual. Can't wait for our next trip to town so we can enjoy this food again!

Leah T.

Yelp
I've been to this location several times and the food always comes out less than hot. I had the meatloaf and cheese and bacon mashed potatoes. The sauce on the meatloaf was thick because it wasn't very warm and the shredded cheese on the mashed potatoes wasn't melted. Ordered a side salad which came out with my meal instead of before. The food is good the second day because you can actually reheat it to a pleasant temperature. I've been to several other Of their locations and not had a problem with the temperature of the food. Waitress didn't refill our water glasses either.

Jannelle N.

Yelp
I went here on New Years morning with 2 other people. We went in right when the cafe started to get busy. I would recommend going prior to 10:30, as afterwards the wait times tend to go to 30 min+. The food turned out pretty good! I ordered a seasonal pumpkin Paris platter - the toast did seemed slightly burnt, but overall tasted great. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND trying the migas - I have a lower spice tolerance, so the queso (ALSO highly recommended by some friends to get) was the perfect sauce for it. I would definitely visit again to try some of their other dishes.

Yelp
Great food for the price! Could have faster service. If your looking for a fast delicious breakfast lunch or dinner this is the spot!! SM3
google avatar

Yelp
Kerbey Lane is an Austin classic. While the wait is usually long and service can be slow at times, I can't give this place any less than 5 stars for their amazing queso and fun pancakes (& memories of Austin). Kerbey Queso is a must-try if you haven't had some! It is literally guac covered in creamy queso with pico de gallo on top. No matter how many Tex Mex restaurants I go to, I have yet to find a queso that I crave more than this one. I usually go for breakfast food at Kerbey with my favorite order being either the Breakfast Platter or the Kerbey Lane Combo. Their blueberry pancakes are delicious! Kerbey Lane has a bunch of different seasonal flavors to try as well. Not sure what season it was, but I remember loving their cinnamon roll pancakes. The other benefit to Kerbey Lane is their hours, making it the perfect spot for late night meals. Queso + pancakes - what more could you want from a cafe?
google avatar

l g.

Yelp
My sister lives in Texas and I dream of migas every time I'm away. The migas here hit the spot! We also went with the pumpkin French toast which was phenomenal because it was actually grilled pumpkin bread. Not what I was expecting, but really yummy. So it's a lot of calories but worth it. I also got the jalapeno sausage which was very good. And most importantly the coffee was excellent and the service was also excellent. Highly recommend it.
google avatar

Carrie M.

Yelp
WHY ARE THE TABLES ALWAYS SO STICKY? Kerbey is a UT student classic, but I have never understood the hype. The veggie burger and Greek chicken are pretty bad. I don't even remember what I had the first time I went to Kerbey in freshman year, but I remember not liking it. Their lunch/dinner is a lot worse than breakfast. The queso is decent though. I really like the lemon poppy seed french toast platter, and the service is great.
google avatar

Tressa M.

Yelp
Kerbey lane cafe is a Austin must for vegans! Not only do they have several options for vegans, Gf, and vegetarians, but they're actually good! I got the tofu scramble with pancakes and I'd give it a 8/10. I personally can make myself fluffier vegan pancakes, but the pumpkin one I had was great and so was the queso! They definitely can improve on their tofu scramble by adding more seasoning and maybe some vegan cheese. One thing to consider before going is: are you ready for about an hour wait? (depending on the time you get there) Bar is self seating. If yes go dine and enjoy the wonderful service!

Milan D.

Yelp
great food, even better service. If you ever come here, Cassie C is the sweetest waitress.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
Not my favorite location. I prefer the one on Mueller! The tables are always sticky, and there is always this musty smell throughout the place. It is very conveniently located right by campus. The food is decent. I find their scrambled eggs at this location to taste rubbery, so I get the Greek Chicken instead.

Silas O.

Yelp
A Texas campus classic - you have to check Kerbey Lane out! I have only the BEST things to say about this location. We come regularly, and the staff is always incredible nice and helpful. Shelby and Riese are amazing - we appreciate them so much. The food is tasty and fairly priced. Highly, highly recommend!
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
We enjoy eating breakfast here. The parking is limited late in the morning or during lunch, but you can get an idea if it will be full by checking the waitlist on the app. The staff is friendly and attentive. The coffee keeps flowing! We like to get one of the monthly, weekly, or seasonal pancakes, but sometimes we fall back to our old Austin favorites such as chocolate chip, because why not?
google avatar

Josh R.

Yelp
This was my first time here, and I don't really understand what the hype is about. We ordered the Kerbey Queso, and it was kind of bland. I had the Migas, and they were okay.
google avatar

Courtney B.

Yelp
I came to this location this past Wednesday night around 10 PM with another party for some late night eats. When we came in, we were greeted by the hostess and seated at a table in the middle of the cafe. However, because of my back issues, I requested to be seated at a booth. Upon this request, the hostess gave an attitude and seemed to be annoyed that I asked. My party and I were then told it would be a 5 minute wait if we were to sit at the requested booth. Now, past the attitude and on to the food. I ordered two menu items to include a hot apple cider and a migas plate. The migas were bland even with the pico de gallo and the queso that dressed the migas were cold. The rice and beans were lukewarm. The best part of the meal was the apple cider. This visit was a disappointment.
google avatar

Tracey Z.

Yelp
Ahh my favorite place to come late at night! My friends and I came here after a night out. We were seated right away and the service was so attentive. Since we did go so late at night, I did think they may have been slightly understaffed so our food took a while to come out but our waitress was really nice about it. She drew cute cat pictures on our receipts and togo boxes, which really goes to show their care in quality customer service. I got oatmeal because I was craving something really filling. Pretty decent amount of food for it's price. The oatmeal was good and the biscuit it came with was so fluffy. Overall, a great time!

Yelp
Kerbey Lane came highly recommended from a few of my friends once they saw that I was in Austin. Located right on campus which I am sure the students love. We must have came at the right time because there was plenty of parking and we were seated fairly quick. They were able to accommodate my large group with ease. Customer service was good off and on. Friendly at some moments and stand offish at other moments. The menu had a nice mix of your normal breakfast items to the more unique items such as their benedicts and omelettes. I kept hearing about their pancakes and queso and that is exactly what I got. The queso was outstanding. Our table of 10 ordered two orders and everyone ate a bunch and there was still some left. For my meal I went with the Kerbey Lane Combo which came with pancakes, eggs and two sides. They sell their pancake mix so I assumed they have to be great. Well I assumed wrong. The pancakes were super underwhelming and all the food came out lukewarm like it was sitting for awhile before they brought it out. I make way better pancakes at home. I honestly think I caught them on an off day and am willing to try them out again, maybe another location.

Carol S.

Yelp
Nasty. Sat waiting for service after 2 tables seated and orders taken by people who came in after me. I had to wave my hand at group at the cash register before anyone came to take my order. Manager behind counter at register took off his shirt where all could see and began working in his muscleman undershirt. I called waiter over and told him it was inappropriate for manager to work in his undershirt. Manager then put on a jacket that was open in front and served a large tray, jacket hanging open and undershirt exposed again. I will never go back there again. And food very mediocre. .

Macy M.

Yelp
Never had any complaints. One time during a giant snowstorm, they stayed open through midnight to make sure everyone in line got fed (a lot of students had no food/water). Great memories here!
google avatar

Minly L.

Yelp
I was in need of a late night dinner and I was quite content with this find. The service was super quick and friendly. The queso was super yummy. There was a perfect amount of gooey but maintained structure. Definitely recommend if you come here. For my entree, I ordered the Grilled Fish Tacos. It was a very tasty and light bite. So if you want something savory but not heavy this is perfect. I'm definitely impressed by their many vegetarian options. Overall, a pretty great place.

Jill S.

Yelp
really really delicious pancakes, they were super fluffy! got a traditional american breakfast and it was overalls pretty good. cool location by the uni i'm sure it's a popular spot for students.

Allison C.

Yelp
We went for brunch and the food was only OK for brunch options at that time. I ordered some beef tacos and for chewing purposes I would have liked it if the meat wasn't the size of the entire taco. the meat was pretty hard to chew and the size didn't help it at all. We also ordered their Kerbey Queso which was pretty good with excellent crispy chips to go along with it. I see the hype about being able to come here 24/7 but for brunch, there are much better options. Also, we went when it was super busy, but I don't think it should take 20 minutes to run our cards through the machine to pay our bills.

Sayak Kumar M.

Yelp
The lime cilantro dressing for the salad was excellent. The amounts were very generous and I loved the jalapeño sausage that came with my fish. Highly recommend!

Candy Y.

Yelp
Great food. We are party of five and we all each wants something different. This place has everything, food is great and service is great. Most importantly the price is great as well. Worthy for bookmarked here.
