Quarantine Carry-out review!
(I semi-regularly get carry-out breakfast from this location when I'm working in the office, and have never had an issue with food quality, so the issues I will describe are likely due to lower customer volume related to COVID-19)
My husband and I took advantage of the $.99 coney deal and did carry out this last weekend. While aspects of it hit the spot in terms of some restaurant food withdrawals, ultimately every item we ordered was terrible.
Firstly, the restaurant was very well set-up for COVID-19 restrictions - much appreciation there, and the cashier was donning a mask and gloves. A+ for COVID-19 changes.
The sad part - we ordered 6 coneys (because we're fat and wanted leftovers, okay?), 2 orders of fries and a large Greek salad - and every item had an issue. The actual hot dog part of the coneys were old - like, had stuck-on/crustified griddle "stuff" on the dogs as though they sat on the griddle all day waiting for an order; I had to pick some off. There were also some ugly, not-really-parts-you-want-to-eat pieces of onion on all of the coneys. Both orders of fries were almost raw - barely fried, still had that raw french fry flavor. The Greek salad was lovely looking...but the chick peas were borderline rotted. They were greenish-tan, had a questionable texture, and I picked them off. The best part is that the pita for the salad was packaged in a styro coney container, so we actually got shorted one coney because one of the six coney containers was actually a pita.
Did we eat most of it? Yes.
Was it decent? Sort of.
Was it worth everything related to COVID-19 and the 30% tip I gave to the cashier? I'm not sure.
I don't think I'll be back to this location during lock down, but I will likely resume breakfast carry outs when I go back to working in the office and they're back on their game.
