Kerrville Hills Winery at Schreiner University

This winery is on the Schreiner campus in a 120 year old craftsman. Gorgeous inside and the view was also wonderful. The wines we tasted were excellent and well crafted. Cari spent time with us sharing information about the owners, winery and their wines all crafted from Texas grown grapes. When we return to this area, this will be one of our stops.

What a great find in Hill Country! Cari helped me with a tasting, and I loved every wine I tried. She was very kind, informative and had great pairing ideas for all the wines. She even took the time to show me some architectural features of the house, which is beautiful. Enjoyed a glass on the lovely front porch. Can’t wait to have the wines I bought to take home!

Love love love the “new” building at Schreiner. Honestly, I think the venue has been their only missing ingredient, and now that they have the very cool Weston House, all is complete. The friendliest and most knowledgeable staff make the experience complete. Their wines have always been really good with excellent selection and varied pricing, definitely something for everyone.

Great service, good wine. The Sunkissed blend was a very unique & delicious flavor profile. Sangiovese was a great body with a heavy tobacco finish. Rivenyates was an all out good wine. Worth a stop.

My wife and I stopped by Kerrville Hills on the way from Comfort to San Antonio. We loved everything about it. The tasting room host was so well versed and sweet. We even got to try a new blend that has not been released yet. Besides some shopping in downtown Kerrville that day, this was a very nice side visit that we won't forget. Rustic winery with very friendly staff and good service. Wine was ok. The best wine they had on their menu was the RivenYates. We would have bought a bottle but felt it was over-priced at $60 a bottle.

I had never been here and came in tonight with my parents who are members while I was in town visiting. We found a table to sit at and my dad went up and got menus so I could take a look. No descriptions or information about anything and it was dirty and wrinkled. My dad ended up choosing for me as they are members and knew which was a good wine. However it was short of an accurate pour. As someone who comes from a bartending background... this was not accurate unless it was for wine tasting. It was far from a correct pour and no measuring device was used. The people working seemed to stay behind the bar just chatting it up with 3-4 people that were sitting at the bar. I guess they were more important because I never saw them until I was leaving and heard "Thank you" yelled out the door after I was gone. Service sucked. Wish there was music or something to coverup the conversations from the staff and other customers. I don't think I will ever go back and I'm fairly certain my parents will not be renewing their membership. This is not a welcoming or friendly environment nor did I have a clue what I was drinking or ordering. And if you make me wear a mask maybe you shouldn't give us used and dirty menus from other people? As a business owner, I think something big needs to change if they are going to make it. The service was terrible and standards seem low. Wine was good but that doesn't keep doors open. I hope they can turn this around as it's the only one so close!

Such a great winery with wonderful customer attention. We did the wine sampler & walk out with 3 bottles of wonderful wines. After wine samplings, the charcuterie platter, with a glass of wine rounded out a lovely time.

We visited the Hills at Hye location as a last minute stop after hitting the Luckenbach chili cook off. (We had previously visited KHW last year while it was still transitioning and didnt have a full menu lof Rivenburg wines). We had great conversation with the knowledgable staff, to that end we spoke a continuous 1.5 hours ( last appointment of the day). We absolutely love their Reds! I never knew i enjoyed Petite Syrah, awesome, and the RivenYates was amazing. We joined as members immediately! We have now been members at 7 wineries, Go Us!

One star is one to many! Employees not respectful did not like the Wine and Wildflower pass. These people need a lesson in customer service

Great wines... found the only Zinfandel I've ever liked enough to buy by the bottle! Our server was awesome and I feel so bad that I forgot her name (young and petite with dark hair)... but she actually gave us a short tour of the facilities since it was a quiet day. She also had wonderful knowledge of wine and the surrounding area, and gave us the perfect brunch recommendation. The facility is cute, and there is a tiny winery next door that we want to check out next time. We will definitely be back.

Second time being here within a five year time span and this place is still wonderful! The wine is always good, this time they had a very good mulled wine. The first time I came, they had the most memorable sangria I've ever tasted, I was looking forward to having that again but the mulled wine didn't disappoint. We missed the wine tour (1pm) but they had someone getting ready to play guitar (2pm) and he was serenading us while we drank our bottle and ate our crackers. Very nice place and definitely would recommend it!

Anyone who has spent much time on the Texas wine trail should be familiar with John Rivenburgh and his dry red wines, especially his Tannat. Johnny "Tannat" knows his way around the winery business and produces absolutely amazing wines that beg to be sipped and drank alone or with a medium rare steak! Our only negative is that we live so far away from this great winery. Nevertheless, we do find our way along 290 to some other familiar tastes and great wines at places like Ab Astris, 12 Fires, Longhorn and Siboney. Keep up the amazing work we'll be back as soon as we can.

If you're even remotely serious about 100% Texas Wines and have not stopped in here, you are missing out. This isn't your donkey sweets nor peachy sangria pitstops. This is for people who really want to experience some the best expressions of what Texas has to offer. The staff are always on point and respectful and you'll be hard pressed to find a more mature, knowledgeable, and solid expression of Texas in glass.

It is always a pleasure to visit Kerrville Hills Winery! The wine is fantastic and the staff and owners are so personable and attentive. I can't wait to come back!

Stopped by on Sunday afternoon after brunch. The winery is just a short drive from downtown Kerrville. Tons of artwork line the walls of the hill country vibe tasting room. They could not have been a friendlier bunch of people! My husband and I enjoyed a tasting. As we were finishing the owner, John, popped in and invited us to watch them press some of the grapes. So cool! Learning experience with some great wine...can't beat that!

We became Armadillo Wine Club members on our first visit to Kerrville Hills Winery, so, no doubt, we enjoy their wines! There are no vineyards here, the grapes are from vineyards all over 'the world.' We have enjoyed bottles of the 2009 Gold Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2009 Purple CS, and 2006 American CS. The 2012 Wine Down Sauvignon Blanc is nice, also (dry, semi-dry), but the reds are the real stars here! This second visit we were wowed by the 2007 American Merlot, the 2010 Just Hangin' Merlot, and the 2010 Skyline Cabernet Sauvignon! The Petit Sirahs are great too! The tasting room is very nice on the inside and there is always a breeze on the porch of this hillside location. Love that our dog is welcome inside and out. Looking forward to the wine pick up party in May!

the staff was unfriendly, zero stars. the wine was less than average! But the staff had a problem with our group of 16 from the time we walked in. Would not recommend.

Nice little winery! Rebuilt over the old and original homestead that burnt down, the original chimney piece is the only remaining remnant and it's in the middle of the tasting room. Super friendly and attentive staff and even though the tasting menu is overly Cab heavy, the Purple Cab was by far the leader of the pack w/the Gold Cab coming in a close second!

Came here on Sunday with a friend. $10 for 6 tasting. And between 3 and 5 pm on Sunday, it is happy hour, 1/2 off wine by glass or the Sangaria. Patio is nice, but it is right next to the highway, so there were plenty traffic noise.

Excellent tasting experience, knowledgeable staff, unpretentious atmosphere. A great portfolio of Texas wines to share with friends.

The BEST wine in Texas and a beautiful view! They have a knowledgeable and kind tasting room staff and if you're lucky the owners/winemakers will be on site to passionately explain the process and give you more than just a delicious tasting experience. They are the most cordial and humble people! KHW puts on stellar events and has always made our whole family feel not just welcome there but wanted. The Hill Country is lucky to have them!

If you want a good wine experience, go to Kerrville Hills Winery! We had an amazing experience and even added some bottles to our collection. Brenda was very knowledgeable and educated us on wine and I felt like I learned a ton. If you love quieter wine experiences, I'd recommend an appointment on Monday's. I will be going here every time I visit Fredericksburg/Kerrville & I'll also recommend every person coming to go there!

Me an my wife's first stop in the Texas Hill Country for wine and we could not have been more pleasantly surprised and impressed. Wine and service were both top notch and would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting or living in the area. Left with two bottles of wine and will definitely be ordering more in the future. Brenda was a treat and made the experience super enjoyable and personable. 10 out of 10!

Made an impromptu stop at the Kerrville Winery last week. Wasn't sure if they were going to be open much less having tastings. Lucky Us!! We got a full tasting of their wines. The whites were not our favorite but that is just a matter of preference. Walked out with a couple of bottles

We had a great experience with Tiffany conducting our tasting last week but based on the bad attitude of the manager Brenda at check out, will never go back and will discourage the resort where we stayed from referring them. Without going through every detail of she said/she said, I will just say that when you promote something you should honor it. And, as a manager you should conduct yourself more professionally. In addition, my mom purchased the slush kit which was sold with 2 bottles of wine and 2 bottles of soda water. The box of mix only requires one each. She would have purchased another box of mix had she known. It's a shame this experience left us with a bad memory on an otherwise wonderful girls trip.

My boyfriend and I came here on a weekend getaway. First of all, skip the tour. It's not really informative and I think the owner was a bit buzzed during the tour. Also, don't expect much from the tastings. They really didn't go into much detail about the wines and it's small servings. So why give it four stars? The Wine! We ended up spending about $100 on three good wines. The white is the only true Texas wine and it was delicious. The cabs were my favorite, especially the golden cab. Also, the owner's wife was super nice. It's a nice little place to go in Kerrville for some wine drinking.

Actually some Texas wines that were good! Couple friendly ladies were running the tasting. Fairly knowledgeable. Nice looking place.

I'm no wine connoisseur or vino enthusiast or anything, but the wines just didn't do much for me. To be quite honest, I've bought better tasting wines at Wal-Mart. Yep, that's right, Wal-mart. Kind of pricey too - $20 for approximately 12 tablespoons of wine and a few oyster crackers. Ouch!!! In fact, I disliked the wine so much that for the last two of my six samples I chose the spiced wine and the sangria (both of which were made with the 2006 cab). Those were actually pretty tasty!!! But of course I still had to wonder how much better those recipes would taste with a more palatable wine. Normally when I visit a winery I actually want to take home a few bottles. Here all I wanted to take home was the recipe for the sangria!!! Bummer they won't share. Chalk this one up to experience.

Wine was pretty good, but the service was not good at all. Only one of the women behind the bar was pleasant. 4 of us were able to share our 18 tastings which was great, but the manager was extremely cold and encouraged us not to buy more wine, to instead just pay for our tastings and go. You can always find good wine, but apparently not good wine and good service.

We were in town for the weekend and a group of 8 of us decided to drop by for some wine tasting. It had a really nice atmosphere. They were a little busy when we came in, but the staff attended to is right away which we greatly appreciated. Ricco and Raphael were very knowledgeable and took the time I explain each of the wines and their tastes. This winery specializes in red wines, though they did have a couple of whites. My favorite was the Cake Sera Sera, a sweet red wine. I ended up getting a glass of this. The remainder of my family preferred the Gold Cab.

We visited Kerrville Hills winery on a cool spring day in March and were welcomed immediately by the warm smiles from Brenda and the knowledgeable staff. We tested several wines and did a short tour. I thought the wines were very good! I recommend Kerrville Hills Winery to my friends and for those visiting the Kerrville and or Fredericksburg area!

A very roomy, comfortable tasting room that could probably handle large groups easily. The server we had was not really knowledgeable and we learned most of the grapes are sourced from California. They did clarify the grapes are de-stemmed and processed at the winery. The wines we enjoyed most were California styles, cabernet sauvignon and sauvignon blanc, without the big tannins for the cab. Both tended to be a bit smoother than their California counterparts. A good visit and worth visiting to determine if their wines fit your taste buds!

I love this place! The wines are superb. The Kerrville Hills has a wonderful collection of wines. My favorite is the Purple Cab. It has a delicate richness and wonderful fragrance that you long for long after the bottle is finished. "Just Hanging" is a dry aromatic wine that has a finish that leaves your tastebuds wanting another sample. Could anything be better than the Purple Cab? This might be it... Soft, subtle, dry and aromatic... It could hardly be better! AND I don't have to pay a fortune for a bottle. This is one of the most delightful wines you can find... And you can walk out with a case for less than one bottle of Margeaux! I am a total fan of Kerrville Hills Winery. Very fine wines, great atmosphere and wonderful people. Kudos for a very fine wine.

Had wonderful Mulled Wine, the space was open and they people were friendly. The wine was good, my partner enjoyed it as well. I just wish we would have gotten more explanation during our wine tasting. It was our first stop of the day and we were both very excited as it was my birthday, but they would not have known that by the lack of communication. The space was open and clean. They did have a wine tasting special that day, but we were notified AFTER our wine tasting and our glass of wine.. basically when we were paying to leave, I did purchase a bottle of wine. - I just didn't like the lack of explanation and the fact that the deal wasn't made available and explained before we began our wine tasting, I wish I had taken it up. But I will go back and hope second time is better!

Meh!! Sample flight was very light on the wine and the wines were nothing special. The ambience was average and the support staff was not overly friendly and helpful

Great wine and a friendly staff makes this winery a must stop. My wife and I especially enjoy the gold cab, American can and the purple cab.

My wife and I stopped here on our anniversary. We were welcomed by friendly staff who took the time to answer questions and give us suggestions. We loved the wine and the environment. Definitely recommend it!

I will start with what I liked about this place. It was cozy and had easy access to the tasting area and wine lab/cellar. The concrete floors made it appear clean and open. The food supplied by a local caterer during my visit was plentiful and tasty. It made for a nice event. But...the wine was really not at all good in my opinion. I tried 5 different wines before I tasted something that I thought was appealing (the Gold Cab). And while the attendant serving me wine was friendly, it took forever to get her to help me. The rest of the staff was not at all friendly. They all seemed really bothered by the presence of the large group I was with. When I visit a winery, I expect the staff to be friendly and accommodating and knowledgeable of the wine. I also expect the wine to be good. Neither one of my expectations were met. I asked one attendant which wine she liked and she couldn't say, she just mentioned that their most popular was their most expensive bottle (the gold cab). I also gave my wine preferences to the first attendant who was letting me taste the wines, and she seemed to not even know what the wine would taste like. She was totally off the mark about finding me a wine according to my preferences. And to be honest, as much as I like wine and have my preferences, I'm seriously not a wine snob.

What a fun place. I was in town visiting my daughter. We stopped in for a quick drink. Several hours or perhaps 3 hours later we were still there enjoying the wine and live entertainment.We were able to see the grapes being processed live. The staff were very personable and friendly. We topped off the afternoon with a frozen wine slushy type drink. I would highly recommend that drink on a hot Texas day. Loved this place and the wine was quite good.

Great wines!!! They only have 3 wines at this time. 3 GREAT WINES! My favs were their Cab and their Merlot. The tasting room is beautiful with an amazing story. The staff was very knowledgeable and entertaining. If you are out in the Fredericksburg, TX area, it will be worth your drive

We stopped in for wine tasting and enjoyed the dry red selections! We were disappointed that we were too late for a tour. The staff was friendly. Nice place to hang out!

Great, cozy and charming little place! Definitely recommend the Night Cruisin, but my family liked the Wine Down and Cruisin. Crackers and some packaged cheese is also available!
