Kessler Baking Studio is a Dallas Gem and yes, it's worth the drive DFW suburbanites. The baked goods Mr. Clyde and his staff are the best in town, which is why I drive from Murphy/Richardson to Oak Cliff 3 or 4 times a month to get the best cinnamon rolls, banana nut bread, oatmeal cream pies, cookies and brownies in town. They have more baked goods of course, but those treats are my favorite. The frozen cinnamon rolls are AMAZING! They thaw and reheat like fresh out of the oven rolls, and they stay fresh in freezer. Longest stretch I have stored them is 8 weeks, and they are amazing everytime. The banana nut bread freezes well too. Those stay fresh for up to 3 months in the freezer. I always stock up when I visit Kessler, because the quality of the cinnamon rolls and banana nut bread is so much higher than most places. The cinnamon rolls have a nice buttery dough, plenty of brown sugar, gooey filling, and a nice crunchy sugar for added texture, and of course generously iced. The banana nut bread is perfect combination of butter and bananas, also a crunchy crystallized sugar makes for a sweet and textural nirvana. I have visited almost every bakery on Dallas Eater and Observer's best of list, (and yes, Kessler is on those lists), and Kessler is my favorite. Another detail, Mr. Clyde and his staff are genuinely nice people. And in a busy, rushed world that may be the sweetest treat of all.
