Do not miss this place on your next trip to Half Moon Bay! We had an amazing meal at Ketch Harbor Bar. Started off with the oysters—super fresh and briny, just what you want by the ocean. The chicken pear salad was a refreshing surprise: light, crisp, and perfectly balanced with sweet and savory flavors. The fish and chips were golden and flaky, not greasy at all, and the fries were on point. The surf and turf was the star though—tender steak, buttery lobster, cooked just right. Finished it off with an Old Fashioned that was smooth and strong, the perfect complement to everything. Great food, great vibe—we’ll definitely be back.

Lovely vibe right in the harbor. Plenty of outdoor seating in the shade, however, we sat at the bar. The atmosphere in this restaurant was a great mix of a sleek modern bar, but still casual and beachy. I got the margarita flight (pictured) which was totally worth it. The vodka drink called “high tide “with peach liqueur was also delicious. The seafood pasta was absolutely to die for! Delicious creamy sauce, and a ton of seafood. The habanero fish tacos(pictured) were also good if you enjoy fried fish. The clam chowder contains bacon and there was no option to remove it, which personally disappointed me. I did not end up getting it.

We requested a side of bread and were served moldy, days-old bread. My nursing wife noticed the mold just before eating it. We informed the server, who spoke to the manager and chef. Their response: "They're sorry." The manager didn’t even have the decency to apologize in person. I was astonished at how nonchalant the server acted.

Google
Randomly found this gem while taking a detour from Burlingame. Fresh squeezed OJ hit the spot. Seated outside for a nice view. Breakfast was spectacular!!! This is an absolute must visit.

Google
Food was great, we sat outside for breakfast and the drinks were delicious as well. I chose the Crab Eggs Benedict and I can see why they are famous for it. The service could have been better, the server was not as attentive as we hoped, didn’t ask us for refills and we had to track down someone for the check after waiting a long time after we were done eating. I would still come back for their food, however.

Google
First time trying this restaurant. I was hunting crab lunch. We sat on the patio facing the marina. They put heaters out for us since it was a nice day but the chill comes up in the afternoon. The server was nice. I had the Dungeness crab sandwich. Fresh crab and crispy toasted bread. Absolutely what I was looking for. My companion had the seafood tacos and loved them. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant that fills up quickly at high times. I would definitely come here again.

Google
We had a great breakfast here. The food was delicious and it was priced decently. They had a great kids menu and the menu actually has a sense of humor post a picture of it here. I really enjoyed the lemon pancake. This restaurant has a nice view and a very good location as well and parking was decent.

Google
This is one of the only places you can get fresh cooked crab. We ordered 2 of them -- perfect, fresh, delicious. The food was great, service was quick, and it was beautiful sunny day. The coctails are good. I think this is your spot if you're a crab lover. They get fresh crab right from the fish market next door.

Yelp
My husband, son, and I visited Ketch Harbor Pub for an early dinner, and we had a wonderful experience! The location is beautiful, right by the harbor, and we chose to sit outside at a table with a cozy fire pit in the center, which was just perfect. The pub has a very family-friendly atmosphere and a menu with something for everyone. Our server was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, which made the experience even better. The food was great, and we all left very satisfied. Overall, I was very pleased with our visit to Ketch Harbor Pub, and we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Went in last Sunday, first time and last. Walked in and was greeted by the girl working the front, who was nice. It was busy which is no surprise, it's Half Moon Bay, Sunday and a long weekend. Everyone wants their seafood fix. We were seated pretty quick, and she handed us the menus. It was about 15-20 minutes before our server came, no smile and simply looked like he hated his job. He looked so annoyed, didn't ask us if we had any questions or anything. And was very short with us when we did ask a question, he just kept looking at us to hurry up with our order. I don't know he if he's a senior server or management, it was hard to tell. We were INSTANTLY turned off his enthusiastic customer service. The menu was pretty basic for me, nothing really looked good to me other than the calamari and that's all we ordered. It was decent, we ate it pretty quickly and asked for the bill. Total was $19.37, placed a $20 on the table, and left. Never again....

Yelp
Really liked the ambiance of this place. We sat outside which was a little cold but we had blankets so which kept us warm. The wait was about 10 mins to sit and the food came pretty quickly after ordering. The fish and chips weren't super flavorful but the fish tasted pretty fresh. The fried were also not salted but the sauces were good. The linguini was tasty although a little bit smaller than I expected. Overall enjoyed the experience and would come back

Yelp
Came here on a sunny MLK Day. It was popular. Front desk lady was new, but someone seasoned came out to keep things moving. After waiting in line for 3-5mins, we were seated inside. The waitress tracked down a menu for us. This is a beach shack feel kind of place. It's right off the piers where you can come to get fresh, live crabs and fish off the fishing boats! We had picked up a crab so kiddo could experience getting a crab off a boat. The food is simple, fresh and good. We got the crab sandwich, which was Yom! The mixed fried seafood which had two pieces each of fish, prawns and scallop -- well done and better than the fish and chips at Waterbar. And clam chowder, which is a bit bacon forward and much tastier once we added some pepper. Overall, simple, fresh food at a lovely location which makes for a great outing to the HMB pier!

Yelp
Really liked the food at Ketch, and out of the 3 different restaurants I had clam chowder on this trip, Ketch was far and away the best. Perfect thickness and flavor without having to add any salt or pepper. Chef's kiss! The bloody mary was delicious and hit the spot as my "starter", followed by that clam chowder and finished with the Crispy Seafood Combo. I am super picky when it comes to scallops and I have largely stopped ordering them at restaurants because they are almost never cooked properly. Well I took a chance at Ketch and I was highly rewarded. The scallops included with my combo plate were fantastic, perfectly cooked and exactly the right tenderness. The only gripe was that my wife's $28 crab & bay shrimp Louie salad came out almost no crab at all. Annoyed, she flagged the server down and expressed her dissatisfaction, to which he replied that the salad comes with 2oz of meat so it's normal, but then he went and got her another small bowl of just crab meat. Once applied to the salad, all was right in the world again and her salad was complete.

Yelp
First time at this restaurant and ate with my grandma. It was super good. The clam chowder had a good amount of seafood on it & it has the perfect texture & flavor. The salmon was also really good. It's a simple dish, but it tasted very flavorful and not fishy. The mashed potatoes was creamy and delicious. My grandma also enjoyed her cioppino. The servers were very kind & attentive. The ambiance is also nice & relaxing. Nothing too fancy, but a good restaurant to enjoy some seafood.

Gina T.

Yelp
We've been here three times in the last two months thought I'd finally write a review! My husband and I love it here. The food and drinks are delicious! Our server was Jerry, our bartender Emily, they are super friendly and attentive! We will definitely make it a point to stop by whenever we are in town!

Diane W.

Yelp
Stoped here before checking in to our hotel, for a small bite to eat. What a lovely place. It was busy and all the food looked really good. We were seated right away and our waitress Tara took excellent care of us. We tried the clam chowder and the oysters. All were delicious. Next time I plan to try their fish and chips.

Stanley R.

Yelp
Location, location, location is a very important factor in any review! This cozy pub is located right in the Half Moon Bay Marina, right next to the Mavericks Surf Shop! How legit is that? The patio lets you hear the birds flying around the boats. The inside is cozy and warm. The menu is really solid for a "pub". The crab grilled cheese looked scrumptious! The chowder was really wonderful, full of fresh clams, and the potatoes were the perfect texture! My fish tacos were a fresh take on an old favorite and totally delicious. The French fries were crunchy and excellent. Our server was Alex and he was terrific, attentive but not intrusive, I liked him lots. The dessert menu was thrilling and the banberry pie stood out but the grandson was done so we paid up and walked out happy! The parking lot was empty on Saturday night but this is a new favorite of ours! Special Shout out for the calamari appetizer!

Glenn M.

Yelp
Delicious food and a wonderful time sitting outside. Four of us had lunch here today and sat outside with our pooch. What a very dog friendly restaurant! The service was wonderful and spot on. Always got refills on our drinks and the food was delivered hot and fresh! We had the fried calamari and fried artichoke hearts for appetizers. They were both very yummy. Light crispy batter on the tender perfectly cooked calamari. The artichokes hearts were very tasty too! Light batter, crispy and juicy hearts. My son had the fried seafood combo and loved it. Perfectly cooked tender seafood in that yummy light batter. Mom has the crab Louie, fresh lettuce with lots of crab. Wife had the fish tacos and thought they were very delicious. I had the apple pecan nut salad with oranges. It was very fresh and yummy! The bathrooms are wonderful! Looks like they were freshly remodeled! Very clean and roomy. My mom's in a wheelchair and was able to use the restroom. Great place and will be back soon!

Alexei S.

Yelp
I had a pretty good crab & shrimp louie salad and a good glass of wine. I was happy with the ambiance and the price point was relatively reasonable. Service was lacking. Waiter took forever to bring the food and didn't even bother asking if I needed anything when I actually did want a lemon. I had to ask another server for a shaker of pepper. My waiter was brusque, and I felt annoyed that the bill prompt started at 18% when I barely wanted to give 15. Not sure I will come back here again.

Kathleen M.

Yelp
Breakfast was very good. Lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes could have used more lemon flavor, but were a very nice texture, and ample serving. Huevos Rancheros very good, with excellent hash browns, ample servings. Service was excellent and friendly. Look forward to eating there again n

Yelp
We love Half Moon Bay, so we took a trip out and decided to have dinner at Ketch Harbor Pub. It's been renovated since they took over the space and looks great. Service was great and attentive, but the food was just ok. We both love seafood so we went with the Seafood Tostada, the Fish Tacos with Salad and a side order of fries. The seafood tostada's local catch was about 4-5 scallops on a tostada with refried beans and mango slaw, the scallops were big which made this really hard to eat without falling apart, not a good dish to share. At $32.95, we felt like this was overpriced and not something we would order again. The fish tacos were served with fried fish that was extremely dry, there was not enough sauce on these to balance out and was underwhelmed for a $20 plate. The fries were perfect and enjoyed by all. Overall, great service and just average food for the price. I would definitely try them again, but not for Mexican Seafood dishes, just my preference.

Tanita J.

Yelp
Solid 3 stars. Location is good and has a pretty view. Menu is not that impressive for being a seafood spot - nothing really caught our eye. The clam chowder appetizer was nothing to brag about. The fish and chips were alright, and the tacos were decent. Service was amazing - loved our server! I just don't think the food was good enough for me to come back - especially at the price point

Adg D.

Yelp
One of our favorite places to eat at Half Moon Bay! Their service is prompt, unless it's a busy day like New Year's Eve or Christmas, when slow service is understandable, but the server is honest about it and really meets your expectations. Love the outdoor seating, and the fact that they allow dogs - they even have a dog menu! The fireplaces are very Cosy, and keep you warm even during winter. And finally, absolutely love the food here! Serving sizes are on the larger side, perfect for 1.5 people.

Meg D.

Yelp
I was in the HMB area Nov. 2024. I stopped there for a few Happy Hours, and really enjoyed the very fresh and well presented oysters, calamar, shrimp ceviche and fried artichokes. The attached small fish market also provided some wonderful rockfish, aka red snapper (I think). Really delicious fish, in any case. If I lived closer, I'd be there at least once a week! (I live 2183 miles away.). *Sniff...*

Yelp
Surprised that we were able to be seated right away on Memorial Day at 11am. Staff is super friendly and even though busy, did not rush us. Sat inside as it was a little cool still on the harbor. While we waited for others in our party to arrive, we decided to try the oysters and have a glass of wine before breakfast. Why not? It's a holiday and we were on a mini-vacation. Love trying the local oysters and these did not disappoint. Nice to have an unusual mignonette on the oysters - very good. I loved the Crab Benedict - perfect egg, loads of crab, and a nice hollandaise. Hash browns are nothing special, but they were crisp and a nice contrast to the benedict. Others in our party enjoyed the Crab Omelettes and the Corned Beef Hash bowl looked pretty good. We remember the old Ketch Joannes from years ago and are happy to have this option available again in Half Moon Bay. We will return! Be sure to stop in the attached fish market on your way out. We grabbed some very good salmon and rockfish for dinner that night.

Yelp
rebranded and new menu! I have been coming here over the years and noticed some changes in the past few months and now i see why! I came in for some clams only to find out there are no steamed clams on the menu!! For a HMB restaurant, I was SHOCKED! I did get oysters that were dressed (mignonette, and cucumbers) which was pretty good but I would rather dress them myself. I like what they did with the inside as it is not as divey as it used to be, I can see how locals don't like this but it is the perfect place for tourists so I think it was a good choice. The outside patio is redone and really nice and they had heaters. The service was very good! our server was attentive and told us about the makeover and he only started a couple months ago but he seemed happy to be working there and it worked for me. I will come back...but not for clams I guess

Sharine d.

Yelp
Came in for a late lunch and visit with a friend. The restaurant was clean, including the bathroom. Ordered the calamari appetizer, which was soft and flavorful. Also ordered the ciopino... the fish was fresh and tasty, the broth was ok. Now the odd...I've never had so many check-ins. Not sure why, but we had so many people check on us... it became a bit odd. I'm talking like 5 checks in 10 min. ‍This happened the whole meal...I kinda felt like they wanted us to leave, since we didn't complain about anything... we were just talking and eating. ‍

Oleg H.

Yelp
The good: The service is excellent. The outdoor setup - is pretty nice, well designed considering the prevailing weather conditions. The indoor design is likewise really well done. The bad: Menu was a bit vague - "crispy" when it meant - deep fried. Drinks priced premium but taste like mid-range at best. The ugly: Price -- we get it inflation is hard and everything's expensive but $6 carbonated water - lol. Ultimately -- we tried just a few items because we weren't too hungry, admittedly that may have been the error -- and maybe there's way better items on the menu -- but when a few apps and drinks are $100 -- the expectation for quality rises.

Eliz L.

Yelp
The food was wonderful. Staff, AMAZING. We had a teeny-tiny mix up on my order, but it was immediately remedied, and zero concerns. That said, my husband is a crappy tipper. Please know that I, myself, very much enjoyed my experience from arrival to post-meal. Thank you so much for such a wonderful dining experience!

T M.

Yelp
This was our first time back at Ketch after their revamp/remodel. Let me start with the service. Everyone was super super nice. Granted we went around 7:45PM on a Saturday so it wasn't as busy. The place itself was strange, especially if you were a frequent guest at the original Ketch. It's pretty, but we missed the rustic feeling the previous place had. We even missed the big ole fish tank. Strange, I know. As for the food, it was good, but far from great. Like they were trying too hard. Not as many options that's for sure. No more Manhattan clam chowder, no more grilled seafood combo....it wasn't the same. Plus the prices were a bit much. Probably won't be back.

Melissa T.

Yelp
I loved everything about the new and improved Ketch. It's just too bad I forgot to take any photos of the food! If you have been here before the remodel, then you know the original Ketch Joanne's was a local favorite. The owners sold the restaurant to a local investor and he completely transformed the site. Before there was hardly a bathroom to speak of. A dingy room next to the bar that had a leaking toilet and could barely fit a single person. It was disgusting and certainly not fit for a restaurant. Now the bathrooms are huge and so clean. The walls were repainted, so now the restaurant looks bright versus the aged look of before. There is new furniture and my favorite feature are roll up large windows that are garage-door style. Perfect to have open on sunny days and awesome to easily close them on our cold, foggy days. One of the owners, Mishelle, often works at the restaurant, bussing tables and helping out staff. She greets people when they come in and chats with them before they leave. It's a nice touch having the owners there on-site to meet with customers. I highly recommend the chicken fried chicken (sooo good!), and the ahi tuna salad, if you want something healthy. The salad was spicy, due to sliced jalapenos in the mix, but it was really well presented and I am sure you can request no jalapenos, if heat isn't your thing. This is a great date night spot and if you're a local, you get 20% off your bill on Mondays. Lastly, I was worried the prices would be high due to the remodel. I was pleasantly surprised to find everything was affordable and reasonable. I didn't see anything I would label as too expensive. I highly recommend Ketch. It is a gorgeous new/old establishment and the cute details are what got me. The tabs come in actual novels by local authors. You can't beat that!

Jenn M.

Yelp
Excellent food! The establishment walking-up is inviting and bright. We are always immediately welcomed, and seated. The decor theme is fun, nautical/coastal. We have been frequenting this establishment since they opened, and with each visit and meal, we have never had anything short of a great experience and delicious food. The patio is a fun place to visit over drinks and appetizers. The inside is just as fun and inviting. The staff is always friendly, and the establishment is very clean. We have tried breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and no meal has been a disappointment. Their fish is very fresh. Definitely worth a visit!

Carol G.

Yelp
The food there definitely makes up for the lack of ambience of the restaurant. I had the most wonderful wild caught fresh specific salmon tostada on chorizo, refried beans with feta cream, and Julian mangoes on top. My friends had fish tacos, and my other friend had the crab Louie. We will all be back soon!

Orkhongua B.

Yelp
I had dinner with a friend there on Saturday. We loved the fresh sea food and friendly servers. Their clam chowder was perfect. It had perfect amount of creaminess. Tip: if they do not have table available, check the bar. They have full service extended bar which is similar to a table. Please see the photo from my review

John B.

Yelp
I would like to let you know how disappointed my family was. On 12/14/24, we went to eat dinner. We were sat right away which was great. It took about 5 minutes before a waiter came over. We ordered our drinks, an appetizer and our entrees at the same time. 2 other family were seated about 5 mins after us. They received there appetizer and food before us. I feel like we waited 45 mins or more for our food. At one point we were ready to get up and pay for our appetizer and drinks and leave because the service was so bad. We couldn't find anyone to assist us. As we waited for our food and watched other tables being served before us, we notice in the kitchen the staff were using their bare hands touching food. One would have a glove on one hand while using a bare hand to touch the food. Worst part was watching the kitchen staff wipe the floor with a towel and pick up the towel and put it back on the counter near the food. This was the second time we were about to get up and leave, but our food finally came. Food was decent and good, but the quantity was a little smaller compared to local restaurants in the area. Our waiter never came back to our table after the initial order. We were thirsty and had to grab him as he ran by, even then he wan't listening. I had to repeat myself 3 times just to get 2 sodas. When the food came my wife's order was wrong. We remembered when she ordered the chicken fried sandwich the waiter said oh the fried chicken. She had to repeat again she wanted the fried chicken sandwich, because there were different menu items that were similar. At least the person who brought us out her food said they would take it back and within minutes had the correct entree. We will not be back and this was by far the worst dinning experience I have had. This place was slow, unorganized, not managed right downright dirty and nasty.

David Y.

Yelp
I've been going to Ketch Joanne for years, especially when my boys are in town visiting their grandparents. So I was sorry the restaurant closed and excited it reopened as The Ketch. This makes reviewing the restaurant a bit challenging because it's not purely new, but probably not fair to review as an existing restaurant since they are still working out some kinks. Coming in the door, the interior has been redone and it is attractive. I'm not sure who made the decision to include so many high top tables. I am 5'9" and I do not like sitting in those. I saw a woman sitting in one and her legs were dangling. My mom and her older friends cannot sit at a high top. Perhaps there's a restaurant reason I'm not aware of. Service and hospitality was excellent. My one son likes breakfast and my other one loves fish and chips. We were there at 10:45am so they were only serving breakfast until 11:45am and then only lunch from then on. Our conundrum was solved by a manager who said she would ask the kitchen if they could make a fish and chips before lunch. Answer: Yes. Problem: Solved. The fish and chips were excellent. I asked our server what he liked and he said the flank steak, chilaquiles, and eggs with the steak medium rare and the eggs over easy. I ordered it and the food was good but the steak was at least medium and the eggs over medium. We also ordered the biscuit basket. They turned out to be cheddar and chive muffin looking things or some such. Being from the South, we expected something different. No big deal, but the menu could be more specific about what the biscuits are. We will definitely continue to visit The Ketch when we visit and looking forward to adding that 5th star as they work out the kinks.

Erica L.

Yelp
They have an awesome menu and a great kids menu. Their orange juice was incredible and it was the best French toast I have ever had. My cousin got pancakes that were superb. There is outdoor seating and easy parking. I highly recommend!

Dan J.

Yelp
Slow service and food was not fresh. Not sure how it swung to 4 star review our experience was anything but.

Caitlin H.

Yelp
Whenever my husband and I try to expand our restaurant experiences in HMB, we always crumble and find ourselves back at Ketch. We LOVE it! Can't beat the Marcodero fish tacos! Food, service, ambiance (I could sit at the bar forever) is amazing.

Denise H.

Yelp
My pup and I were wandering the area, and we needed a quick snack. We pulled up to Ketch, and was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of other people with their dogs on the front patio. Great - dog party! The staff were super kind and friendly and accommodated my food needs at the time. (I ordered the oysters and didn't know that the miso mignonette would already be drizzled on top, so I had to take it back and get it on the side.) The service overall were super quick and attentive and I'd love to come back for other dishes when I'm not on a strict diet anymore!

Jason H.

Yelp
We came here on a Wednesday and everything was great. Fish and chips were a little bit in the bland side, but fresh. Service was good though. Decided to come back on a Saturday and it was horrendous! - put our names on the waitlist at 12:45 and received a message our table was ready at 1:15. We were already there but had to queue again for 10 min to check-in to be told they had given our table away to a reservation so we had to wait again - finally sat down at 1:45pm. Ordered drinks, water, and calamari then later mains. Drinks came quickly, but water never came. At 2:10 the main food came but no calamari. They had forgotten it - server said she would refill empty drinks but never came back so had to go to the bar to get refills - tacos and crab sandwich were very underwhelming. Fish tacos are much better at San Benito House or Half Moon Bay Brewing company. Hoping this would be a great new local spot but Saturday experience was one of the worst we've had at a restaurant in HMB.

Nicole M.

Yelp
Ketch has been a staple at pillar point for a while. I went a couple of times back when it was the old ketch and still had a very divey feel. It now is very clean and elegant inside but they made sure to keep the old sign and some remnants of the old spot. This place holds a special place in my heart. My dad used to go here all the time. The food is much better! The calamari sandwich is to die for and the clam chowder is delicious! I will definitely be coming back often for the food and the memories.

Mj L.

Yelp
The experience was very bad. We were waiting patiently for almost an hour to get seated and when asked when, the front desk person replied with "when an available table will be ready." The one hour of wait had come and still no table was available. We gave up and left. Of course, we informed the front desk we were leaving.

Chris O.

Yelp
My family and I will 100% be back to Ketch the next time we are in town! Our first experience was nothing sdhort of spectacular. Service was solid, consistent, and memorable. Proven right! Humbly, O

David P.

Yelp
At Ketch (Joanne's) Harbor Pub and restaurant. Still great with new ownership. My wife and I love the hand made Bloody Mary's and any dish with crab! Roberto is our bartender today and still makes the same perfect recipe and even has a blue cheese stuffed olive! Novel take on a Mimosa see photo.

Justin W.

Yelp
We were looking for Ketch Joanne, which was a very nice family run seafood restaurant at the 17 Johnson Pier. As it turned out the restaurant was acquired by the next door Harbor Bar. Nevertheless, the new restaurant keeps the old name plate at the dining area. The waiting que was automated by cellphone texting. So we strolled around the pier while they prepping our table. The menu was obviously different w/ more varieties. I found Cioppino as well as Philly Cheesesteak. We settled w/ Joanne Salad(like the old days), Fish Tacos, and Linguini Pescatore. They were all fresh and tasty. The salad had plenty of pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries. The chef creatively transformed the fish tacos into an exotic fission dish w/ the mango sauce. The pasta was richly blended w/ assorted seafoods. When I pointed out the scallops didn't taste right. The waiter immediately asked if I liked to have a new pescatore made or replace the scallops w/ other seafoods. After we resumed our dining, Marcos showed up. Marcos is one of the partners managing the restaurant. He wanted to make sure I was satisfied by the corrective action made by the staff. I was impressed by his professionalism and enthusiasm in running the business. Bottom line, this place stands out in Half Moon Bay (on par w/ the restaurant in Ritz Carlton but at a friendly price).

Therese K.

Yelp
My first time dining at the new Ketch, previously Ketch Joanne. The Ketch has a long history of serving the Coastside. Parking was easy on a Thursday evening. We were seated right away, service by Tara was exceptional. It was National Margarita Day, the Spicy Margarita had the perfect amount of heat. We both ordered the Halibut Tostada with mango slaw, mixed greens , black beans, feta and a creamy citrus sauce, it hit the spot after a walk on the coastal trail. A perfect blend of flavors, the halibut was cooked to perfection. A newly expanded outdoor space with views of the harbor is a great addition to watch the sunset while dining. As a local on the Coast it's nice to have the Ketch back.

Patty M.

Yelp
First time here and it was absolutely delicious. The owner and waiters were extremely attentive and friendly. The food was delicious I loved the pasta fettuccine linguine! The desert and drinks were a staple. I recommend this restaurant. The ambiance was great for my personal preference lol comfortable seating

Paula D.

Yelp
We expected it to be a bit pricey and it was. Fish tacos were excellent with generous strips of mango and a wonderful soy-sesame sauce. Fish and chips were also good. The kids meals, while adorably named ("I'm not hungry", "I want McDonald's") were awful. Both the chicken nuggets and burger were dry and overcooked. To most kids, and some adults, char marks taste burned so the burger was a total fail. The kid's drinks are pretty but the taste is nothing special. At $9.95 a pop, it's about the same price as the food. No, you don't keep the glass). It wasn't crowded, so the four of us were quoted 15 mins. After 25, we asked and they seated us right away. No explanation and no text sent either. Sitting on the patio was very pleasant. Service was slow - took forever to get the kid's drinks and the bill. Overall, Ketch is "fine" not good or bad, just fine. Probably won't be back.

Yelp
We had lunch at Ketch day after Thanksgiving. The place is nice, the food was just ok and the service was decent. It's just very different than what Ketch Joanne was. We feel there are many better spots in the area that embody the Half Moon Bay vibe we enjoy.

Yelp
We were served moldy bread which was discovered after an earthy tasting bite. Unfortunately I had already had a few bites of clam chowder. The waiter was informed and brought someone back with him (manager?). Instead of asking anything or even apologizing, he says "I'll get more" and heads straight away from the table. We left immediately. I did mention to the hostess that we were served moldy bread and were leaving and she replied "ok". Again no apology whatsoever. Full blown food poisoning happened later that night. For them to miss mold in the bread is actually a big deal in my mind since it indicates it isn't close to fresh and that nobody in that kitchen is paying attention. This indicates lack of training and disregard for other sanitary practices which should have caught the bread at a minimum, let alone whatever led to the contaminated chowder.

Yelp
Restaurant was busy and the reviews made the restaurant look enticing. Omg is all I have to say! Service was acceptable, not good but acceptable. Clam chowder was the WORST we have ever had. May as well have called it bacon chowder. We didn't taste one clam. BLAND and Floury. Ugh!!! Fish and chips were mediocre at best. Tartar sauce was good. Fries were good. NO IDEA why this restaurant has such good ratings. Yuck!

Yelp
Like many of my fellow Coasties, I was super sad to see the closing of Ketch Joanne Restaurant and Harbor Bar which was a haven for hangovers (curing and making them) and hangouts where you could rub elbows with your mates or a local fisherman. WOW - what an upgrade! Way more seating (inside and out), great light, and the preservation of the Harbor Bar is a relief. The food was very good, portions just fine. Prices have gone up but the quality of the menu has evolved nicely. My friend and I went for lunch and ordered the fish tacos and the chicken sandwich. Both were delicious and we cleaned our plates! The Smuggler's Spritz was bright and refreshing. The bathrooms have been relocated to the back of the business (inside) and are ADA compliant, along with a small area of the bar that you can sidle up to in a wheelchair with ease. I agree that the menu is more limited, and that the prices have increased, but we understand this likely helps to fund the upgrades to the location and menu and take the hit to keep this place in business. We eyeballed the other dishes and drinks that others were helping themselves to, and everything looked delicious. Can't wait to go back! Visit number 2 (2 weeks later)- sat outside this time and ordered 2 apps and split 1 entree: App #1 - Ceviche stuffed avocado (15.95) - excellent! The fish was bright and clean, the avocado had a slight grill that gave it a lovely compliment to the rawness of the fish, topped with crunchy little tortillas strips. App #2 - Crispy Baby Artichoke Hearts (13.95) - lightly battered and fried artichoke hearts with a lovely roasted cherry tomato sauce on the side. The fry was super light and not greasy. Entree - Italian Flag Fettuccine (22.95) - a lovely holdover from their old menu. A fun take on chicken parmesan with a breaded chicken breast, and the 3 sauces of red, green and white to represent the Italian Flag; side of alfredo fettuccine. Could be heavy for a lunch for one, but great to split.

Yelp
Killer crab Benedict. Huge crab portions. Great coffee and walkable from the Oceano. A+

Yelp
Please train your staff to use proper sanitary practices. It would be thirty minutes well spent. The employee set the table by handling the tines of the forks and the blades of the knives instead of the handles, and the water was delivered by a man who handled the glasses by the rim. If this is going on in front of the customers what happens in the kitchen? We had two immuno-compromised members in our party, so we left and ended up at the Brewing Company where the servers were well trained.

Yelp
This review is looong overdue! My sister and I use to live in El Granada and the last time we were at this place it was called Ketch Joanne's. We went more recently (a few months ago), and was pleasantly surprised by the remodel - it looks amazing - and was even more blown away by the staff. Those who know me, know that customer experience is my top priority. The hostess, Carla, was incredibly sweet and genuine, and made my sister and I feel extremely welcomed. It was a very crowded day and she handled multiple customers with ease. One of the owners and executive chef, Eduardo, was amazing. We ended up speaking with him after we ate to learn more about the changes, new menu items, etc. We are very much into the small town community feel and speaking with him really made it feel like we were back home again and made us miss living on the coast. He was so easy to talk to and really showed he cared by taking the time to answer all of our questions so thoroughly. Along with the hospitality, the food was so delicious! We ordered our favorite fisherman's platter and seafood pasta. We had such a great time, we came back the very next day. Thank you, Eduardo and Carla, for representing Ketch Harbor Pub so well. This place is really lucky to have you both! Looking forward to come back again soon!
