The 10 Hottest New Restaurants in Montreal, January 2023

"Add Cambodian food counter Ketiw to your running list of restaurants for where to get a mighty fine sandwich — theirs are of the num pang kind, filled with kroeung-marinated chicken, lemongrass beef, or mushrooms. But the main draw at this cool new Verdun spot from the minds behind Les Street Monkeys is chef Tota Oung’s Phnom Penh-style kuy teav, a traditional Cambodian breakfast meal of noodles topped with ground pork and seafood — served wet or dry." - Valerie Silva

The Best New Brunches in Montreal - Eater Montreal

"Following up on their lunch and dinner services, this Cambodian sandwich and noodle shop from chef Tota Oung and Hillary Romero of Les Street Monkeys is now offering boozy brunches on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy bottomless mango mimosas for $30 while slurping bowls of savory kuyteav (all-dressed noodles with a side of pork broth) or crush a num pang sandwich or two." - JP Karwacki, Valerie Silva

I’ve been a regular customer of Ketiw for a solid bit now and honestly this place never gets old. I particularly love their chicken sandwich but their thai iced tea, pandan green tea, and large selection of soups are all excellent! I would eat here every day if I could. Taking off one star because I found a piece of hard metal in my soup and when I showed the server she seemed to have no interest in informing the kitchen of a possible hazard and even went as far as suggesting it came off my clothing instead of taking any proper measures to figure out what happened. A bit disappointing to be honest, I could’ve easily chipped a tooth.

Bright and sleek spot for Cambodian eats. The Khuy Teav Phnom Penh rice noodles (either broth in or out) is pretty good. The lemongrass beef sandwich lunch special is really satisfying too. My favorite discovery though was the pandan tea — so warm with that little kick of sweetness.

We love the noodles here. We especially enjoy the Khuy Teav Phnom Penh rice noodles with soup on the side, which pairs perfectly with a side of Chakway. The noodle bowl is well-mixed, and if you can handle spicy food, adding more hot sauce makes it even better. Their Thai iced tea is excellent too. The chicken Banh Mi is also very good; they add lemon leaves, which enhances the flavor of the chicken, a small detail that makes a big difference. In Asian cuisine, this combination is common, but not many restaurants here pay attention to it. The pickles are made from papaya, not the usual daikon typically paired with Banh Mi. The staff is friendly, and the place, including the bathroom, is very clean.

Great meal, great price great service! Really good service, they’re super kind and caring. If you get the chance to try their home made peanut sauce, it’s worth a detour just to try this! Damn it’s good! The veg. imperial roll were amazing, best in town in my opinion

Stumbled upon this place one day and ordered the kroeung chicken combo. The dish was tasty overall but chicken portion could’ve been more generous for the price.

I love a good no fuss restaurant and this place hits the spot every time. The flavours are very reminiscent of my travels to Cambodia with a modernized vibe and great attention to detail. Their ketiw and num pang are my go-to dishes. To be honest, it’s a constant dilemma between the two and I get fomo whenever I choose one over the other. I will say, I’m happiest when I order both (with the soup on the side is a must!) Such a great combo! I leave satiated and with half a sandwich for the next day that I look forward to. A staple and a favourite for sure. Great little restaurant, highly recommend.

This place had the most delicious, unique and fresh food. Five stars for wonderful staff, quick service, nice ambiance, great food and creative cocktails and desserts. I really recommend this place if you are looking for an affordable but yummy lunch or early dinner option in Verdun. I only wish they had longer hours in the evening so I could come eat here all the time!
