The 14 Best Doughnut Shops In LA

"In no world does Kettle Glazed Doughnuts in Hollywood compare to most of the shops in this guide when it comes to traditional donuts. But that hardly matters when you walk into this strip mall spot directly off the 101, because their specialty options are superb. The tart lemon-glazed ring is filled with just enough sweet raspberry jelly, and the s'mores option comes topped with tiny toasted marshmallows that melt in your mouth. We’re also partial to the blueberry lemon fritters, which pair well with an iced matcha latte at one of the counter stools lining the window." - nikko duren, brant cox, sylvio martins

Kettle Glazed Doughnuts - Review - Hollywood - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

Tried these at the end of the day but the donuts were still amazing. Can’t imagine how much better they are in the morning. Their donut base is light, airy, yeasty and not too dense. It’s just what a donut should be. That comes through with their classic glazed donut. Their fritters were good but didn’t stand out. The apple fritter had big chunks of apple filling but the glaze for some reason was slightly too sweet for me (maybe it just has too much of it?). I preferred the blueberry part of the blueberry/lemon fritter but not sure I enjoyed both. On the other hand, the blueberry jelly stuffed lemon donut was amazing and the lemon complimented the sweet jam well. Only complaint is I wish the lemon glaze was more lemony/sour and less sweet. My faves though were the vegan donuts. They have more of a texture and density of an Entenmann donut but obviously a million times better. Couldn’t tell they were vegan at all. I had the cinnamon flavor and it was incredibly moist and flavorful and not overly sweet. Would highly recommend this place. Service was friendly too.

Google
The best donuts I've ever tried. We had three different tastes. Can't decide what is the best one. Thank you

Google
Super friendly service, very fresh coffee, ground and used within seconds. The donuts are artisinal effectively, with traditional types but with flavorings and features that are very unique. The only thing missing is an area to enjoy your food. This is strictly takeout, although we stood outside and enjoyed our treats.

Google
My wife and I have started doing what we are calling, "Spontaneous Saturday!" First, I pick our first place to start where her and I have never been. Today, I picked Kettle Glazed Doughnuts, and what an awesome pick. We live close by and never stop by. We'll that will change. I had the Blueberry Fritter, and my wife had the Maple Old Fashion. Both were extremely delicious. We had the Carmel Latte's. Unfortunately, I did not like their coffee, but for anyone who hasn't had a Latte from Starbucks. You may like it.

Google
The sweetest people work here and their donuts and coffee are the best in the city. I love walking here with my partner. Shoutout to Molly and Fernanda!

Google
Great local stop for doughnuts and coffee that’s a step up from your typical yum yum or California doughnuts. Their specialty items are tasty and they make a decent latte. The staff there are also incredibly friendly and attentive. We love coming here as a local weekend stop for a little something sweet. I will say however, if you are something of a a doughnut connoisseur you may by a little let down. Don’t get me wrong, these are good doughnuts. But there are small things - like their buttermilk doughnuts being a bit more oily as opposed to having that light crunch on the outside and softness on the inside. And their plain glazed are ever so slightly chewier than they are soft (maybe just a little stale? I can’t quite put my finger on it). All in all it’s a fun friendly place to grab a treat, but if you’re seeking the truly gourmet experience, I think this place falls just below that.

Google
Interesting flavors & really nice employees. However, I thought the donuts were decent but not to the caliber of the other more notable LA donut shops. check it out if you want some unique varieties. Go early as I went in afternoon and there were limited options.

Google
Best donuts we tried during our time in California! We tried them because the place was conveniently located next to our hotel but we went back again and again because of their deliciousness. They are a bit pricey but totally worth it, and I’d highly recommend trying the S’Mores one - perfection. My only note is that one night we were coming back to the hotel and we saw they threw out all of their leftovers donuts and covered them in cleaning products so that nobody could eat them, which feels insensitive in a city full of homeless people like LA. They should consider selling them through Too Good To Go or donating them.

Yelp
Delicious coffee (latte), donuts were so good! We got raspberry filled powdered, vanilla glazed, chocolate sprinkled, cruffled. Staffs are so friendly too!

Yelp
For a year now I've ignored this place due to its somewhat inconspicuous location in the corner of an overlook strip mall. However, I must remind myself. Where else but in overlooked strip malls do the best donut stores exist? Kettle Glazed has a simple donut menu-- minimal frills of the variety that pollute the online donut community. No cereal or highly instragammable donuts. Just regular ol great donuts. This place is GREAT. The Apple Fritter has made a permanent mark on my memory, and everyday around 3pm or 4pm, I start to think about it. The vanilla old-fashioned is also amazing. paired with a cup of coffee, it's hard to do better. My one recommendation would be to ignore the allure of the donut holes (which I believe they call dough dots), but to instead go for the regular donuts. I am able to walk to kettle Glazed, so the commute is easy. But I will mention to those less lucky that the parking lot is a tricky one, at a strange intersection of busy streets (Franklin and the 101)

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! My go to spot for donuts in Hollywood. Always fresh, and delicious. Lattes are great as well. The service has been fantastic every time I go in. My favs are the Pumpkin, Ube, BB Lemon Fritter, Boston Cream, & Choc. Frosted, but you really can't go wrong with any choice.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a clean small place with tight parking. The staff were friendly and provided recommendations. We got coffee, donut dots, blueberry lemon fritter and apple fritter! All tasted good but seemed day old or maybe since we came after 3pm morning items. Nonetheless good taste, good texture and blueberry lemon was a nice surprise! If in the area, give it a try
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty good donuts here. Boston creme, ube, and pistachio creme were the best, the pistachio creme was mulit-layered, croissant like, and without a huge amount of creme but had a nice subtle flavor. Blueberry lemon was a bit too tart for me, and chocolate with sprinkles (for my daughter) was rather ordinary. Parking was a bit janky, but try the side street behind the store.

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH! They need a second location in weho! I'm an old fashioned donut hoe! Have been since I was 4 years old. I love old fashioned donuts and this place is the king of that. Maple, blueberry, lemon, alll of them are amazing. Classic donuts done perfectly. And so many experimental options happening here. Everything's good. Including the iced coffee. Staple of LA for me personally 8+ yrs now

Yelp
amazing staff and very effective services! the parking lot is a little small however people come in and out fine. i enjoyed their jelly filled donuts. definitely unique place. The guy there helps me, very kind and extremely helpful. Definitely returning client.

Yelp
I came in for some caffeine and a donut after eating at For The Win. I ordered an Iced Chai Tea Latte that was soo yummy, it had the perfect amount of spice! It was definitely hard to choose between all the delicious looking donuts they had but I love old fashioned donuts so I ordered a blueberry vanilla donut. I was blown away by how good it was, I don't think you can go wrong with ordering any of their donuts but the apple crumble looked especially delicious!
google avatar

Steven H.

Yelp
Love the donuts here. You can definitely taste the quality. Parking lot is a bit tight. Would definitely return to try their cronut.
google avatar

Yelp
Kettle Glazed does make some good Doughnuts. A bit out of the way for me, but glad I came by. Got a box a half dozen: Chocolate Peanut, Chocolate Vanilla, Blueberry Lemon, S'Mores, Raspberry Filled, and Crumb. All were winners.
google avatar

Carrie R.

Yelp
Mediocre donuts at best. $25 for a basic dozen. The donuts were def not fresh, but possibly due to the fact that it was about 12pm. Service was very good from the 2 ladies working, although I wish I knew they weren't fresh. The glazed donuts tasted like the donuts from a grocery store.
google avatar

Fancypants X.

Yelp
I'm not sure Kettle Glazed Doughnuts are worth the trouble that is their congested parking lot situation. I bought a Pistachio Cronut freshly filled with rose water pastry cream ($5.75) & an Old Fashioned Buttermilk Maple ($2.50), which was the better of the two. Both too dense for my liking, overall mediocre in taste. With that said, Kettle Glazed Doughnuts does carry flavors not often found at other donut shops; I spotted Fluffernutter, Ube, & even vegan & gluten-friendly for folks who swing in that direction. Perhaps they have something that suits your taste...make sure to drive a compact car if you decide to come & peruse their display cases.

Yelp
The stuffed croissants are disappointing. You basically get a giant empty croissant. I got ham and cheese and not thank you. It's beside the point. Barely see any ham or cheese in there. I wouldn't recommend it at all.
google avatar

Sam R.

Yelp
Picked up a dozen donuts for a lunar new year event with family. We got a variety of donuts, as well as an apple fritter. Highlights: *Cost is super reasonable for LA. I was impressed with the quality at the price point *The buttermilk vanilla donuts and the apple fritter were the stars of the show. 100% recommend *Friendly service with no wait! Other shops (*ahem* Sidecar) are unreliable with orders ahead and have 15+ min wait times on a good day Lowlights: *Ube donuts were not as moist and didn't taste as strong *Parking lot was full, location is a bit off the beaten path I'm glad I finally got to try this spot out. Overall, I'd recommend and would return!

Yelp
Had to come here and get my donut fix, no regrets at all ! Customer service first and foremost was the most welcoming and warm experience from the employees I had experienced in LA. The display and simplicity of this place helps with feeling comfortable and easy to get what you want and however much you want without judgment or feeling rushed. The donuts were so decadent and perfectly sweet. The croissant donut with the chocolate drizzle was so good but the only downside is that all the drizzle ended up just coming off and didn't stick with every bite. I also got the fluffer nutter marshmallow donut which had great peanut butter taste but with the one glob of marshmallow peanut butter in the middle, you just kind of which it was spread over evenly or drizzled on top. Nonetheless all great flavor donuts with no lack of fresh taste. Glad to have come and checked them out.

Bridie M.

Yelp
Everyone who works here is super nice. Even though they have some more unique flavors of donuts (cronuts, etc). My favorite has been the old-fashioned types - just the plain doughnut and then also the apple fritter delivers a perfect yummy bite of sweet yet, crisp treat. I found the other donuts with the fillings to be a little too sweet for my taste but I tend to not love things that are crazy sweet so if you have a sweet tooth. This may be right up your alley. Easy parking right off Franklin Ave. Nice to grab a box and have a selection for a party. Everyone appreciates.

Mark S.

Yelp
There's no better exemplar of this quintessentially American staple than the product these folks produce each day, every day. Long may Kettle Glazed live!

Yelp
If I can give 6 million stars I would. Kettle glazed donuts has not only shaped me as a man, father and friend, but has turned me into a God. I am made up of 96% kettle glazed donuts, specifically their maple bar and chocolate sprinkle. The people are so friendly whenever I walk in. It's right around the corner from my house and every morning I wake up and think "it's donut time". My fiancé does not approve of my obsession over donuts, however I do not care. If I was faced with an ultimatum between my family and friends over kettle glazed donuts.... kettle glazed wins every time. If I could meet the owner, I would skip the handshakes and small talk and go right into kissing. Dear kettle glazed donuts, never change
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
Ordered my sons birthday donuts from here and Sam was super accommodating. We did the Armenian flag colors for his birthday. The taste is convincing that they use great quality ingredients. No old oil taste is a bonus form a donut shop. My favorite donuts for the past 7 years hands down! Everybody is always super friendly as soon as you walk in.
google avatar

Darren D.

Yelp
I love donuts and would ABSOLUTELY come back. All types of donuts/fritters. All were very tasty. I like this place alot.
google avatar

Matthew J.

Yelp
The reviews are right. These donuts are fresh and tasty and the old fashioned donuts are dense and the glazed donuts are fluffy and light and the flavors are wonderful. I would come back again, and again, and again. And then I would weigh 400 lbs.
google avatar

Evil E.

Yelp
I have so much respect for the staff at Kettle Glazed. They make consistently good high-end product. A big fan of their fritters, and all of their glazed varieties. The parking lot is kind of a mess, but that's beyond their control. Their Boston Cream donuts are filled fresh to order.
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Pros -friendly service -ube donut is decent Cons -gluten free donut was way too sweet -not the safest parking lot

Sarah B.

Yelp
Best Donuts! The workers are so sweet and friendly there and I love coming to get their specialty donuts
google avatar

Beth A.

Yelp
I'm not vegan but they have the best vegan donuts in town... Also a must try/buy is the Ube donuts
google avatar

Lisa D.

Yelp
This is still one of my favorite donut shops in LA. The service is super friendly and helpful, the donuts are delicious and fresh, and I really enjoy the drip coffee they have. Only issue is the parking lot is challenging if you're not going the way of traffic, but it is still worth it.
google avatar

Princess G.

Yelp
Yes, to everything about this place - donuts, coffee, and service. Their black coffee pairs so well with any of the donuts! Some of my faves: both croissant styles (original and chocolate drizzle), old fashion (original and blueberry lemon), and apple fritter, so basically the whole menu. I'm craving a donut or two just from writing this review. I can smell it. Mmm. Parking can be challenging but they do offer a small shared parking lot.

Kennon L.

Yelp
The guy working the register today was very rude and had no customer service skills. I'll never return but the donuts are good.
google avatar

Richie D.

Yelp
I can't comment on the store, service or ambiance given that I told my partner to grab some donuts from here on his way home to Santa Barbara. I quickly looked up their donut offerings and knew I had to at least try their Ube Cake donut given the raving Yelp reviews. I also requested a Cronut since I had never had one before. I received a box of 6 donuts with two Ube Cakes (glazed with dark purple interior cake color that was moist and slightly sweet with natural flavor), two Cronuts (exactly as it sounds, a fluffy, layered croissant-donut with a light cream inside) and two chocolate donuts, one with peanuts (I can imagine they were tasty because they were gone by the time I took my photo). I hope to return to try more of their donuts but thoroughly enjoyed the donuts they bake and serve here thus far.
google avatar

Anwaar J.

Yelp
I have come back several times since my initial post since I live so close and think I should have rounded up instead of down on my rating. I still think 3.5 is probably right but have since found the blueberry lemon fritter that is delicious and may have swayed me. Service is about the same.
google avatar

Eden S.

Yelp
This place is amazing the blueberry lemon donut or the glazed raspberry filled are my go to. Would have this over cake for my birthday any day. Parking can be hard but not impossible just give it a min and be patient it's worth it. Very friendly staff which is always appreciated, I've left this place feeling better than when I went in.
google avatar

Jasmine S.

Yelp
A locals favorite donut shop. Always get donuts here for parties/gatherings. Great selection. Really nice customer service. Clean simple interior. No seating just takeout. Love that they have a GF option for me. And make a good latte.

Rosco P.

Yelp
I have been ordering donuts from here for years. I used to have great experiences. But now, the quality of the donuts has become too poor to ignore. At this price point, these should be freshly baked donuts. The ones I've received lately taste like they are at least 1-2 days old. Completely dry and stale. Their custard still tastes great. But the quality of the donuts themselves are not good. I ordered one of their croissant style donuts that's supposed to be filled with custard. It had no custard and was unbelievably stale. I would honestly rate that donut a zero. The Boston Creams were stale as well. So as much as I like to support local shops, I don't see myself ordering from them again. There are much more reliable options out there. If you're going to charge up to $6 per donut, it needs to be far better than this.
google avatar

Andrew T.

Yelp
This is one of the best donuts places in Hollywood! I tried the Ube donut including the chocolate with vanilla. Both were extremely delicious. They also serve different coffee. Their location has a few parking spaces so it is convenient if you want to order to go.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Just normal donuts. Ordered a vanilla-glazed, sprinkle, and an apple fritter. Didn't taste elevated or anything, not sure what the hype is. Can get a cheaper, better donut at a place like Magee's.
google avatar

James Y.

Yelp
Get the Apple Fritters. The Apple Fritters at Kettle Glazed are as good as they get. They have the nice bites of crispiness and the hints of cinnamon with a dash of apple pieces, their Apple Fritters are the best I've had. The other doughnuts were great, too! Service was on point and the coffee was good. My only disappointment was that I asked for a blueberry old fashioned and it's the kind of old fashioned doughnuts that has the "flowering" petals. Mine was missing 1 of 4 petals... like my favorite parts on an old fashioned, missing. I think the guy either knocked it off when he was grabbing me my old fashioned or he should have seen that 1 of 4 petals was knocked off and given me another doughnut that was whole and complete. That made me sad :*(, see pictures, you'll understand what I mean. Otherwise, a great place for interesting and fun selections for doughnuts. It will satisfy your cravings.
google avatar

I Don't Like Your Reviews Either K.

Yelp
The naming convention alone warrants 5 stars: Kettle - Glazed - Doughnuts. Camadeayeahaaa! These round 'holey' baker's confectioneries are deliciously delectable, distinctively delight, and they demand respect, but 'twas earned too, my guy. Truussssst. Smash 2 to 3 with some Lactaid - oooh weee - bussin'. Don't hate the players, but you can definitely hate the games, the scams & thee scammers. One hun. But I digress. Five stars. These smash. They rip. Mad, crazy, love. Peace.
google avatar

J'aime K.

Yelp
This is where you go for life-altering donuts! I wish there was one in the OC. But oh so worth the drive. It's like delish pastry bites but in donut form. You will be wowed at the quality, taste and freshness. Wonderful wonderful place.
google avatar

Tati V.

Yelp
I stopped here in the morning and I was excited to cross them off my bucket list however I have to say that I wasn't very impressed. The donut flavors weren't really anything out of the ordinary and the actual quality of the donut was pretty average. I would come back here but it didn't really stand out to me in any way.
google avatar

Gloria R.

Yelp
I may get some ornery messages for this, but Kettle Glazed is so much better than Sidecar donuts in terms of taste and price! Always a win, the apple fritters are delicious, as is their chocolate icing, blueberry lemon fritter, and the maple bar. It's not as heavy as other places, and the flavors are so balanced/light you don't feel super heavy afterwards. Wish I could get them every month!
google avatar

Steven R.

Yelp
Wow!!! What can I say this doughnuts are delicious. Some of the best I've ever had in L.A. I had the s'mores, the glazed, the chocolate glazed, a blueberry glazed, an old fashioned, and a raspberry filled glazed! I was sharing with others and we each cut pieces of the different ones so we could each try them all. All I can say is each and every one was great. The only criticism I have is I wish there was raspberry jam in that one. The service inside is excellent and very friendly. Will absolutely return next time I'm looking to enjoy a delicious and delectable doughnut delight.
google avatar

Alex J.

Yelp
I'm not sure if this place is known to be a hit or miss but my two donuts were just that - a hit and a miss. First and foremost - if you don't pay attention, you will definitely pass by this literal hole in the wall, or in other words, hole in the corner. It's a tiny shop and even the big sign up front isn't noticeable. Service was super friendly, I interacted with three employees all of whom were sweet and attentive. I ordered a Pumpkin donut and Blueberry lemon donut, totaling $5 even. The pumpkin was the miss. It hardly tasted like pumpkin, I definitely had some spices like cinnamon and nutmeg come through, but it was super mild in pumpkin flavor otherwise. It was pretty dry as well. On the other hand, the blueberry lemon was fantastic. Moist and soft with a delicious blueberry sweetness balanced by the tart lemon. I'll definitely return to give them another shot.
google avatar

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Donuts are so yummy and fresh. The service is friendly and patient especially since I go in before I can form a sentence sorry ate my donuts and forgot to take a picture. Will do next time I go.
google avatar

Alexis T.

Yelp
Very white washed! Donut okay it's funny the vibe it's not welcoming to Africa America or Black peoples .
google avatar

Rea T.

Yelp
My husband picked up some donuts here the other day! Such a great treat for the weekend. We tried the following donuts: - Boston Cream - freshly filled upon order - typically you do not see that - Maple Walnut - Raspberry and lemon glazed All were really good. A great place for donuts!! Everything was fresh and tasty!! It's a MUST try if you are in the area
google avatar

Stephen C.

Yelp
Doughnuts were ok. Cashier was not very patient. Not sure if he wanted us to just leave so he could continue chatting with his buddy.
google avatar

Jessie A.

Yelp
I came here for the gluten free donuts. They have 1 left either my name in it, but it was unfortunately a flavor i didn't like. Apple pie or apple spice. I still ate it and the texture and consistency were great. Plus for Actually tasting like a donut. Can't tell you how many times i get a gf donut and it taste like a cake. Oh also the guy working the counter today around 3 was super friendly and provided great service. Totally recommend

Gary B.

Yelp
Justin, Cheeto and Andrew deliver excellent service and sell the best doughnuts in town..definitely recommend!!!
