Google
First time visit for myself. Family loves the wonderful German theme restaurant. Greeting by Ms Elizabeth as our server. Fantastic customer service, friendly and fun server for our family of eight. Had some wonderful / tasty appetizers. Huge pretzel, Bratwurst sampler, and potato pancakes....each very yummy. Dinner we each had the various Schnitzel plates offered...variety to chose from. Everyone enjoyed the generous portions. Then Ms Angelika stopped by the table to ask how our dinners were and did we enjoy. Very friendly & great conversation about the restaurant, foods & families. We truly enjoyed and will highly recommend to friends and family. Took some pictures on the way out to share the wonderful ambiance of this fun restaurant. Enjoy...

Google
Was a great experience. The server was nice and friendly, food was excellent and was a good size for what I paid. I recommend the Pretzel with their homemade mustard. The interior feels like walking into a tavern.

My boyfriend and I went on our first date and it was absolutely AMAZING! We got our food so fast and it was delicious, however, we did go pretty close to close(sorry about that) so that probably played a heavy part lol but it was still great. I got a chicken salad, and he got this really good dish with mashed potatoes topped with meatballs and gravy, I can't for the like of me remember the name lol.

Google
OMG! Loved the food and the service! Heatherton made us feel at home and her recommendations were superb. We had the Pretzel and the Chicken Schnitzel with Jäger topping. This German food has been thus far the best German food we’ve had stateside. The German Mimosa had the perfect blend of juice and alcohol. It was so massive! One was enough for me. Needless to say I’m glad we decided to stop here.

Google
We popped in for a late lunch today and everything was good. The only reason for the 4 stars is bc I felt like the schnitzel could have had a little more sauce on it. The potato salad was fantastic! Service was good and atmosphere seems like it would be fun during busier times.

Google
Ketzler’s serves excellent German food! We had their Nurnburger sausages, pork schnitzel served Jäeger-style with a delicious mushroom sauce, with cheese spaetzle that included bacon, and their delicious cucumber salad. Chicken and Veal schnitzel are also available. I’ve eaten lots of local food when visiting Germany, and I thought Ketzler’s food was spot-on. My wife also had their hot German potato salad, and it was delicious as well. If there was even the slightest thing I wanted to request, it *might* have been the option to have the cheese spaetzle made with a more traditional cheese. Again, it was perfect the way it was, and I ate all of it, so no complaints. They also serve plain, buttered spaetzle if you prefer. They have an excellent beer selection and my Spaten Oktoberfest paired nicely with my meal. Portion sizes are generous, prices are great, and their large, well appointed dining hall will remind you of eating in a Münich Rathskeller. It’s well worth the drive, even when considered as being just a great restaurant meal. We’ll be returning, and not soon enough! (Regarding the photo: My entree came with two sides. My wife offered me some of her potato salad.)

Google
If you have a large group (17 people) you DO NOT want to go here. I had called the restaurant one month in advance and then again the day before we got there to confirm they would have enough people to serve us properly. They assured me repeatedly that they could properly serve us and would have a minimum of two people to focus on just our group. THEY DID NOT!!! It took over an hour for our only server to simply take our order. Many of our group then received their food cold. I will never again go here and will certainly not inflict this restaurant on a group.

Google
The service was great. Very nice server. Some of our food was just not good. Schnitzel was very dry and tasted off. Potatoes were fair. The cabbage was fabulous though. Very overpriced for what we got.

Yelp
Food excellent from schnitzels to bratwurst and sides excellent German food. Red cabbage excellent as well as hot potatoes salad and sauerkraut. Dark German beer - perfect for meal as well as margarita and wine Service - impeccable- Dining area is "German beer hall" with live entertainment A 5+ in every way Will be back as often in the area!!!

Yelp
Ugh so good. Taking away a star since they don't let you get a boot of beer anymore. I got the chicken schnitzel jaeger style which was like a super thin pounded chicken fried chicken with a mushroom gravy on top. I got the warm potato salad and the Kase spatzel as a side; which I would highly recommend. The kase spatzel is like a cross between a mac and cheese and a beef stroganoff, super rich and super delicious. The hot potato salad was a chunky soup consistency but the flavor was there. Slightly sour but rich still? Just really good. The cabbage my stepson got tasted like a warm delicious applesauce almost. We got a pretzel for an appetizer and a bratwurst plate. I really liked two of them but unfortunately they didn't have any way of telling which is which so I couldn't tell you which two were best. The pretzel was good, as was the warm cheese provided. One of our favorite spots on the square, we especially love the live music!

Yelp
Negative stars, if possible. The service is awful: waited an hour and a half to sit with a reservation, waitress was so annoyed that she had to serve us she visibly rolled her eyes and would shake her head in disgust when my 76 year old father would ask for a coffee or had to do anything related to our group. The food was cold and not worth the money. When I brought the waitress's attitude up to her she denied there was an issue. The owner made excuses and never apologized for any of the uncomfortable dining experience. If you go on a poker night, be prepared to take a back seat to the players and their needs. They are clearly more appreciated and valued than any other customer.

Yelp
OVERALL I bookmarked Ketzler's Schnitzel Haus & Biergarten several days beforehand thinking German cuisine would be something different for a change. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 3 PARKING Free lot & street parking was close by. LOCATION/AMBIANCE This restaurant is located within Grandbury Square which has several other eateries & shops all within walking distance. It's quite lovely in the evening around the holidays with all the lights and decorations. Inside is a pretty swell bar, a stage where I had just missed live music at around 8:30PM, and a variety of table sizes for dining. THE GRUB Because I had been on the road for about 12 hours (11/25/2023), I requested my order to go. + Stella (Belgian lager) $7 + Holstein Schnitzel Plate up close $24 LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB I would have asked for a kid's menu if my children were with me. SERVICE Amicable & welcoming at the front desk & the bar. MY FAVORITE PART... The fried pork chop aka Holstein Schnitzel. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The red cabbage. Not a fan of its pickled accents. TIP Save 4% by paying with cash instead of a card. Danke schön!

Yelp
Best German food in Texas! You'll not find a more fun and authentic taste of German food anywhere else. This has to be one of my favorite places to eat. Anytime we are in Granbury we must find time to eat at Ketzlers. It never disappoints... from the superbly friendly and helpful service to the theme and decor to the absolutely delicious food! Karen was so fun to talk to and helped us learn more about the history of the restaurant as well as the origins of the food. Lexi was a great server making sure we had everything we needed! My daughter and I came to eat and we had an amazing time! We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel with Jager sauce (mushroom gravy), mashed potatoes, spatzel, potato pancakes with applesauce, and sauerkraut!

Cliff O.

Yelp
Wonderful service, delicious food, welcoming atmosphere combined to create a terrific and memorable dining experience. We've already recommended highly to others and will absolutely return.

Yelp
Oh what a fun place! This german restaurant was a nice treat to try. We decided to make the drive out to Granbury & treat our friends to some german food. Our friends lived in Germany are moving away from Texas, so we chose to celebrate here & bring back some nostalgia. Our waitress was from Germany & was very kind & helpful. She brought out fresh hot rolls & butter & helped us with all our questions. I ended up choosing the pork schnitzel with mushroom gravy, the side salad & the cheese (kase spatzle) . Omg, the kase spatzle! Get it! It's like a bacon, cheese (little pasta like) side that was so delicious! The schnitzel was good & great crunch! For a full fun night, come out Friday & Saturday for live music. They have an accordion player & they really make it a German vibe. Really cute inside, great food& service! Ended sharing this sweet tasty dessert the Oven Fresh Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce. It's beautiful, & so delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Our first time here, the food was fantastic! Everything was so hot and fresh! My husband and I both had margaritas, they were so tasty not too acidic. There was live music making it such a fun atmosphere! We will be back!
google avatar

Kim N.

Yelp
Great beer and food! Loved the potato pancakes and schnitzel including spaetzel noodles! Had to have apple strudel for dessert...Yummy!!
google avatar

Paula Y.

Yelp
THE BEST GERMAN FOOD IN TEXAS! They also have the best German pretzels and cheese sauce

Martin M.

Yelp
First off the atmosphere was good, that being said we ordered the jagerschnitzel with sides, all sides were excellent. (House salad, fries, warm potato salad and red cabbage) the schnitzel was a different story it was over cooked and dry and the jager gravy was watery and had very few mushrooms.
google avatar

Jim C.

Yelp
Saw the review on The Day Tripper show and thought we'd try it. Was not disappointed. Had the weiner schnitzel with jaeger sauce and the chicken schnitzel, red cabbage, pan fried potatoes and a side of spaetzle. All very tasty and good portions. And of course the apple strudel to finish it off. Give it a try!

Emily S.

Yelp
This restaurant was amazing German theming and authentic German food. It is an experience for people open to a new culture.
google avatar

Carole B.

Yelp
It's so difficult to find good schnitzel without going to Fredericksburg! Luckily for Granburians, we only have to go downtown to Ketzler's for some mighty fine schnitzel! I also loved the strudel. Be aware that it's a very big portion, easily enough for two.

Zach P.

Yelp
Food was great and service was awesome. Will come back the next time we are in town. The pretzel was fluffy and crispy. I got the Wiener schnitzel with the cucumber salat and spatzle. The schnitzel was tender and clean, would highly recommend it. Server was helpful, patient and kind.
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
We decided to come here as my Wife really enjoys German food and she wanted me to try some good German food. My Wife got the Wiener schnitzel with hot Bavarian potato salad and spaetzle. I got the bratwurst with spaetzle. Our food was delicious and the service was good. Our only negative of the experience was that for about the first half of our visit it was VERY loud with the German lady on the stage playing the accordion. There was a baby at the table next to us and we knew that if it was too loud for us it was DEFINITELY too loud for the baby. Anyway we would recommend this place for the food but not so much for the noise level.

David J.

Yelp
Amazing food and I am never disappointed. Great food that is consistently good, but look for the specials.

Josh K.

Yelp
All the food is dry I would not suggest going here. My experience with the waiters was not good. All of them were very crappy to me.

Gail S.

Yelp
Great service, great German food. We come every time we are in Granbury. This last visit owners were dining as well, celebrating a birthday. Made for a great environment.

Nicholas M.

Yelp
Worst possible employment opportunity, threatening to be fired over practically anything, expected to work two hours off the clock and zero fresh food coming out of the kitchen and everything is old food... Kitchen was absolutely disgusting on top of cockroaches and it's unaffordable for the retirement and fixed income community.... Ambiance attempts a German theme but entirely too loud on Fridays and Saturdays!!
google avatar

Jane J.

Yelp
A little piece of Germany right here in our hood. Granbury Hood County everything is delicious and made with love
google avatar

Rick L.

Yelp
Super friendly service....the bartender (guy w/ beard and hat) and bar back (young guy) were terrific! I think bartender was Keaton J. Spaten Octoberfest ($7), Pauline Hefeweizen ($7), Naughty Rita ($11) Pretzel was great ($7) and the sausage appetizer was good with different kinds of german sausages ($9) The bartender was creating new drinks and taking photos for Instagram etc. It was really nice seeing a business that is continuing to try to improve during these tough times. We had a great time.

Yelp
My husband and I, and my parents, visited here today for the first time for their anniversary and everything was fantastic. I highly recommend the Schweine Schnitzel with Jager sauce! Despite the grumblings of one VERY rude customer on our way out, we had excellent service and were never without drinks or being checked on. As lunch hit, it did get very busy but they were incredibly honest about being short staffed. If you visit and you find that the servers have missed your table, please flag one of them down to let them know. Everyone working today was incredibly kind and apologetic for any inconveniences.

Dean H.

Yelp
Cmon man, its German food which means potatoes, cabbage and cheap meat cuts but 25 bucks and up for weiner schnitzel and chicken schnitzel? If the food was harvested, prepared and cooked in Stuttgart and flown to Granbury with enough food on a plate to feed two adults, it might be worth 25 bucks for a meal here. I have a feeling the owners think a little more of their food than the customers do and maybe its time for a kitchen nightmares moment. Do yourself a favor and fry some potatoes and onions and grill an Eckrich sausage on the bbq. It will be better than this place and a lot cheaper.
google avatar

Carla K.

Yelp
Great Food...Fast service..love the German music..buy for a pretzel w cheese and a slice of apple strudel was 18.45...a lil pricey ..but was delicious, ask for extra beer cheese..u won't regret it !!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! I forgot to write about my experience in June. They have homemade sausages, so we got a regular brat, a cheddar one and my fave an elk habanero one! Very tasty! Even the pork rinds, homemade kraut and plenty of German brews to wash everything down! Service is friendly and the space is great!
google avatar

Catherine W.

Yelp
Wonderful pretzels! Service was very good. Waitress was very friendly and efficient! We'll be back!

Jerry J.

Yelp
Excellent German food. One tip - share the reuben. It is too much for one person. Also great beer selection.

Carla A.

Yelp
Overall experience was great for a Saturday night. The entertainment, ambience and service were excellent. The food was very good too. I recommend this restaurant for a fun evening.

Yelp
If you are looking for authentic German food with small town charm, this is the place. My parents rave about this place all the time and so we made the hour drive on our vacation just to eat here. They recently moved into a new larger space (according to our server) and it's really beautiful. The staff was friendly. Food came in a reasonable amount of time. But the best part about this place is the food. All authentic and all delicious. The sausages are all really unique and have their own unique flavors. The rest of my family had a sampling of other menu items and they were all delicious. I think every dish here is gonna be good. If you like traditional German food, you should make time to come here.

Dorie R.

Yelp
Friendly staff..food good, great cocktails with a great variety. Like sitting at the bar.
google avatar

Rick C.

Yelp
Great food and service as always. An excellent treat to find outstanding German food in Granbury not to mention some excellent music while dining. A reservation is recommended on the weekend.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Was in town for a family reunion and couldn't not eat here. This place was great! The atmosphere was soooo fun they had live music and such a fun vibe. I'm not a big beer drinker but i couldn't not get a beer so the waitress recommended me one and i loved it. Also loved the sausage plate so much i got one to go.....and cleared the plate on the schnitzel. A 100% must try and highly recommended.

Yelp
This was my first time trying German food at an all German Restaurant. Right off the bat, the place felt like I was actually in Germany. I enjoyed the Large Brat sampler. The portions were large and tasty. I should have gotten the Schnitzel with Jager (my boyfriend got) it was so delicious. The place is a little older in the inside with old bathrooms. Our server, Nicole was extra attentive and helpful. Very cute restaurant with good food!

Michael F.

Yelp
My wife was sick so we put in a mobile order. We looked at menu and made our selections. I had some errands in town, so I arrived at 5:40 and was told the order had just been placed. My wife told me, the reason the order had just been placed was that when she tried to order several items for my son they were not available. Ketzler's told me the food was being prepared and would be finished by 6pm. I walked around the square until 6:05 and went back to get our order. I was told it was being prepared. At 6:30, 25 minutes later, I was brought my food. I asked why it took so long to cook and was told another item we had ordered was not available. They had to call my wife at 6 and ask her what to change it to, so they didn't even start cooking until I was told it would be ready. Very dissapointed

Kelli E.

Yelp
First there was a dog sitting at the table in a woman's lap- and the hostess tried to sit us by her. I love dogs, but not at the table when I'm Eating. The service was friendly. The space is strange, Showers in the bathroom. The food was not great. Brats was bland and the schnitzel was lacking flavor also. The beer and wine were good though. If you like authentic German food you should try somewhere else. Felt like a tourist trap...

Leah L.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Granbury. The food is superb and the atmosphere is great. There is a lady that plays the accordion and she is so fun!

Nunya B.

Yelp
Big beers and brats, schnitzels. Service is great. Nice big wood bar and performances by traditional German folk singers. (I have seen one and think she's in-house, but idk.)
google avatar

Carmen S.

Yelp
Excellent food and service !!! Walk in at the last minute during a big holiday no problem.
google avatar

Shelly W.

Yelp
We had our son's rehearsal dinner here and it did not disappoint! The staff was incredibly efficient and attentive. Food came out at a great rhythm with no one waiting for anything. I have to preface by saying we had 30 people, so that was difficult with the sheer number. Ketzler's did an outstanding job and it made our night memorable and without complaint.
google avatar

Brian H.

Yelp
The pretzel is worth the trip. Great location for an outing right on the square in Granbury.

Chris M.

Yelp
This should be called The WURST House. The service was atrocious !!! On a Sunday late afternoon (plenty of open table), the host who sat us had quite an attitude. If you don't like your job, quit. We have eaten in the original location in the square and thought it great. My guess is that when they moved, they sold to new owners who could care less. The host said something to our waitress. She took her time to coming to the table, I knew that I wanted the Reuben and ordered it. Ironically, they were just 'fresh' out of it. Well, I don't believe in coincidences. We decided that we did not want to spend our money to be treated this way. We left and will never go there again. Absolutely, the WURST!!! Don't go there. I couldn't give zero stars, but I would if I could.

Stephanie D.

Yelp
This was a fun and delicious experience. We arrived around six pm on a Saturday and were asked if we had a reservation-we did not-and the hostess graciously found us a table. They were packed and had been most of the afternoon-but the hostess was very sweet and accommodating. We had the most amazing young man wait on us...I wish I remembered his name-curly blonde hair. He was friendly, extremely knowledgeable about the menu as well as a lot of German dishes. He recommended and we were NOT disappointed. They had a lady playing an accordion and singing, and that added to the fun and energy. As a table, we had the sausage plate (our waiter surprised us with his flavor pics), weiner schnitzel, chicken schnitzel, sauerkraut, red cabbage, fried potatoes, hot potato salad, noodles (name escapes me). I wish we'd had room for dessert, but we were stuffed. One of our party is first generation German-American, and it was fun to hear him reminisce with the waiter, over dishes he grew up eating. Reviews stated it was a bit pricey, but for the quality, quantity and atmosphere it was not! (Have you ever tried cooking German food-it's a lot of work!!) Definitely a do over!! Thanks for a wonderful evening!!
google avatar

Layla R.

Yelp
Wowza! This place is the total package! Yummy food, generous portions, clean and with attentive service. So why 4 stars instead of 5: the sauerkraut and the red cabbage were dessert-sweet. Fantastic strudel and the veal schnitzel was perfect.
google avatar

Darlene W.

Yelp
The charm is gone. My husband and I used to go to the restaurant when it was on the corner in the charming stone building. The waiters & waitress were dressed in costume & the music was German. We would order cheese jaeger schnitzel it came served with the sauted onions (wasn't charged extra) served with a dark bread, so delicious. I'm not sure why the jaeger gravy now looks & tastes like chicken but it was not good - very bland. Anyhow now ou dine in a large noisy room. We were very disappointed had to sit near a man who had too much beer and was shouting obnoxiously most of the time. They had changed brands of the warsteiner beer after from a light to a dark...1 sip he sent it back exchanged for an ice tea. Most restaurants would not have charged him $3 for an ice tea after sending back a $7 beer...but they did. Potatoes appear to be just frozen home fries. I can't soeak for the other types of food they have as for many years that is all we have ever ordered. You may have better luck but we have given that location our last try we won't be returning sadly.
google avatar

Lili A.

Yelp
We were so excited to dine here! We walked in and saw a sign asking us to wait to be seated so we did for about 5 minutes while several staff walked around us and finally someone asked if we had been helped. The staff are very authentically dressed it's very nice inside! She led us to a nice spot and we looked over the menu for about 20 minutes, nobody ever came back to our table. We had no water, no waiter and no desire to beg for service. The restaurant was not overly busy there was a festival going on in town and most were out enjoying the day, I am disappointed we could not try this restaurant, maybe another day.
google avatar

Chelsea O.

Yelp
Probably the best German food place I've ever been. Inside it's SUPER authentic, so that's fun. You have to start with the pretzel, which is served with cheese and mustard. It's the best. The plates are also delicious and portions are good. Pricing is so so. I recommend the traditional brats.
google avatar

Sherry H.

Yelp
The employees are not friendly. The atmosphere is like the cafeteria in a nursing home. If they enclosed the bar area with some tall tops away from the big cafeteria like main dining area, that could help. Bathroom is like a nursing home too. You can shower in there if you decide you need to very strange concept. When leaving there were 4 people goofing off by the hostess stand and said nothing like "thanks for coming in or have a nice day". I said something to them about that they should acknowledge people and they just looked at me like they do not have a clue about customer service. This was on Sunday, April 24.
google avatar

Kristina H.

Yelp
Stormy, our server, was so sweet, kept our drinks filled and very attentive! The food was fast, but not too fast that you question the quality. It was hot, fresh and very delicious. My husband ordered Oma's Meatballs with mashed potatoes, it does have mushrooms (he didn't know that, but no biggie, just pushed them to the side) and came with a side salad. I ordered the Chicken Melt which had grilled chicken, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and mayo, all on a potato bun. The atmosphere was fun, they were playing a football game in tv (LSU vs Vanderbilt) and the decor was German. There were Steins on the fireplace and beautiful flowers on the patio. We wanted to try something new and this cute restaurant delivered. Thanks y'all!
google avatar

Elaine M.

Yelp
Wow, total find here in Granbury! Who would have thought there would be a German restaurant here... Must get schnitzel and there are so many to choose from. We got the pork schnitzel and jaeger fries. The dipping sauce with the mushrooms was amazing. Not only are the entrees amazing, the side dishes were just as authentic. Red cabbage and potato salad. A german meal isn't complete without a pretzel! It was our first time ordering from this place and they gifted us a second pretzel! We were ecstatic about that because after the first bite, we wanted more.
