This was a relaxing place to be during our visit to copper harbor. It's awesome it's a dark sky park and you can go on the course at night to observe the night sky. The cabin was nice and rustic. Clean, clean and firewood is included foe an in cabin camp fire every night if you choose to. It was one of our favorite stays at a location and will come back again soon.

A fantastic place to "turn off", unwind, and truly take a vacation that meets the definition and purpose of "rest and relaxation". If you are determined to work on your vacation, this place will convince you that you need to reset your priorities (and not only because the wifi in the cabins is, let's say, "designed to build patience"!). I quickly came to the conclusion that this is the only place I wish to stay for my future trips to the Keweenaw Peninsula. The historical facilities and cabins are beautifully cared for, providing the perfect balance of "rustic" with "modern convenience". The grounds are breathtaking: worth the cost for their splendor and vastness (and I don't even golf!). Best of all, the owners and staff are some of the nicest, most caring people you will ever meet. Their enthusiasm and passion for their lodge, combined with their natural hospitality, makes one feel welcome far beyond a mere "place to stay". Add to all this their knowledge about the area (where to go, what to see, and- most importantly- how to get there!)... well, let's just say you won't regret the time and effort to book well in advance. The breakfast bowls and burritos (included with your lodging fee) are a flavorful and hearty meal to get your day started. However, be sure to sign up for one (or more) of Chef Wi's "dinner extravaganzas": amazing food, a beautiful dining area, a gracious host and chef, and (if it isn't obvious!) worth every penny! Go. Rejuvenate. Rethink...

Overall, I had a great stay at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, but a few details about my trip in specific The good: -The location is excellent, the grounds are excellent, and the access to biking/hiking/ORV trails are great. -The cabin was clean, it got pretty cold during my stay but the cabin stayed at a very comfortable temperature. -After check in, the service from the KML staff was great. They were very helpful with directing me towards things to visit that I wasn't already aware of during my previous copper harbor visits. The OK -The wood provided in my fireplace was wet. It hissed loudly and released large amounts of steam/smoke for over an hour while it was burning. This also meant that it didn't burn that hot (not good for me trying to dry out gear) -The café on site is really slow, and if you're getting anything other than the complimentary breakfast burrito then the prices are steep. -The restaurant and bar in the lodge appears to be closed. Going out for a drink in town and finding a ride back up to the cabin can be a challenge, and its a ~3 mile walk in the woods to get to town so that isn't an option. Dinner is $100/head at the lodge, but you have to reserve it weeks in advance. -The Wi-Fi is incredibly slow. I suspect this is by design (KML uses starlink, a friend that didn't stay at KML had pretty fast starlink in copper harbor at their campsite). It wasn't stable enough for me to call home, I had to visit the mariner in town to make a phone call. -The road on the property is too tight to fit anything bigger than an F-150, so don't plan to bring your camper van or other larger vehicle to get a break from camping for a couple nights. The Bad: -My cabin had burn marks from coals on the carpet, there was a hole in the shower wall, and the toilet seat/lid wasn't actually fastened to the toilet (despite there being grip bars all over the bathroom, but it had an ADA hazard like the toilet seat). For $270/night or whatever I paid, I'd expect the cabin to be taken care of a bit better. -Someone, either a malicious actor on site or the KML Wi-Fi owner, was trying to steal credentials from my phone during my entire stay. I kept getting alerts about websites receiving incorrect SSL certificates, which is a tell tale sign of a Man in the Middle attack. My first night here, I had to drive up brockway mountain to get cell signal to change passwords because someone started triggering MFA requests by logging in to various sites with my real credentials from Pakistan. Don't trust the Wi-Fi here. -The owner, before I verified that I was renting a cabin, can only described as "hostile". They greeted me in the parking lot by aggressively approaching my vehicle before I even stepped out and asking if I was there for check in. After I verified what cabin I was staying in and for what days, their attitude did a 180 and they were very friendly. The whole interaction was very bizarre. I watched them do this to several other people who didn't have a rental booked, and turn them away before they could ask about renting a cabin, which was an interesting choice since the resort felt empty while I was there. My first 2 days staying here, I only saw 2 other cars at the ~20 cabins. -According to the locals in town, KML is the reason why no new MTB trails have been developed in the past ~8 years and several trails have been closed to biking. Unfortunately, when the county was going bankrupt and sold KML, a ton of the surrounding mountain and forest went with it, and KML doesn't seem to want people biking on their property. My stay ended up being pretty good, the weather didn't cooperate at all (1.5 days of rain on my 4 day trip), but that's not on KML. It is worth noting while you're here that KML can be reasonably clear weather, but the town can have like 100ft visibility at the same time. Everything around here gets extremely slippery when the fog rolls in. I visited with a group, which worked out fine, but I don't think I'd stay here as a solo traveler due to the price and abundance of extremely cheap camping nearby.

Had a wonderful few days at Keweenaw Mountain Lodge! The cabins were roomy, clean, and well accommodated. The staff was lovely to work with. They have a cute little gift shop, and the dark sky viewing is amazing!! It was so nice to unplug for a few days and the lodge itself had perfectly serviceable wifi for anything we needed. And it’s close enough to the cute copper harbor shops without being located too close. It’s the perfect balance, a short 5 minute drive if you want to go shopping or out to eat but far enough that you feel removed and relaxed at your cabin. Those breakfast burritos were life saving too! It’s a great place, I’ll definitely be back.

Google
Hot and humid when we arrived, the cabins were stuffy and hot, no air conditioning, no fans. The place was not very clean, for the amount of money paid we expected better. The curtains on all the windows do not properly fit the rods so it was a literal fight just to close them. It was absolutely miserable staying the first night. The lodge is exclusively only to be used by cabin renters only, including the golf course. We had some very unfortunate encounters with the owners and the front desk host. Some of the rudest people you could ever meet in this type of business! They were aggressively confrontational making our entire family extremely uncomfortable and nervous to even stay a second night, so we packed immediately and went to a wonderfully clean, welcoming cabin in the Harbor. The Lodge owners lock all of the doors except the front one to “monitor” all people that come to the lodge. If you are not a guest, you will be asked to leave immediately. Somehow I believe the locking of all doors so they cannot be exited in the event of an emergency seems they are violating some safety measure, also it was the most unnerving experience knowing we basically could be trapped were there a fire. That’s actually insane, these new owners can do whatever they want, it’s theirs, but it felt more like we were in a living nightmare then a vacation. It was apparent they do not care about hospitality, having guests come back again, or being an iconic landmark of the Harbor. It seems they just bought it for there own personal and strange agenda. Again, we understand that they can do what they want, it’s theirs, unfortunately a place we have frequented for many decades is no longer a welcoming environment and it feels more like a place where you are on edge and concerned you might do something wrong to make the strange new owners mad and scold you like a child. Needless to say, we will NEVER come back as long as these owners have this place, we are advising everyone we know, to stay away from the lodge as long as these owners continue their weird and disturbing way of doing business.

Google
Great hospitality at KML- wonderful private dinning experience in the historic lodge with Chef Wi- easy to book in advance of your arrival! Complimentary breakfast a plus before hiking! Cabins clean and well furnished- including a red light flashlight, paper, kindling and logs for fires and an electric kettle for hot tea! Had a wonderful time attending the Northern Lights Photography class by the nicest most helpful photographer- both class room and out door experience provided- viewing the milky way in a designated dark sky area was so impressive!

Google
We arrived early evening looking for information about northern lights viewing as we had planned on coming back later that night when it was dark. There were a couple of basic signs but we didn't know anything about this place (and we had no cell signal). We drove further up to the main building, parked and stepped out to walk up and get a closer look at the sign with northern lights information on it. We were hastily greeted by an employee from the main building asking if we were here to check in, we informed her that we were just looking for northern light info and she rudely told us that the parking was for customers only. We were lost for words, it's not as if we were staying there for more than a minute taking up a bunch of space, we were infact the only vehicle there and there was plenty of room. How else are we supposed to read the dang sign or know if we were supposed to bring our own chairs? I don't know anything about the golf or cabins but after that experience I definitely won't stay here. This was on Tuesday September 30th.

Google
This review is based on a stay a few years ago but mostly due to a recent visit this past week (July 2025). Having grown up in Bruce Crossing, about 120 miles south of the lodge, I've visited many times and introduced my family to it once I grew older. For the past few years my wife and I would stop in for breakfast as the new owners had a nice little breakfast bar with outstanding breakfast burritos or bowls. We always enjoyed just walking through the lodge as it's got incredible history and brings you back in time. We'd also usually like to buy something from the gift shop. The property is an icon of the Copper Harbor area and even to a larger extent, the entire Keewenaw Peninsula. We haven't been staying there the last couple years because it's very expensive for just two people. If you're splitting it between two families it becomes affordable but the wife and I don't need an entire cabin to ourselves. So, we paid a visit last week Tuesday morning and were greeted at the front door asking if we had just arrived or arrived last night for our stay. We said we're just stopping by to walk around and grab breakfast and we were asked to leave and that, "the property is only for guests staying in the cabins". The "hostess" was rather blunt and certainly not on the friendly side. We were taken by surprise and shocked. It was a strange encounter to say the least. A property that we so loved to visit is now only attainable if you wish to pay $375 per night. While it's now a privately owned property, it was built with public funds and in my humble opinion, it would best serve the history of the area to be open to those who wish to take a look. Maybe after looking and having breakfast, they'll decide to stay? The place seemed deserted, I might add. I mean, I get it, the current owners paid for it and it's theirs to do with as they please, but I stick to my above sentiment. They might "coach" the staff to take a little lighter tone when asking people to leave. Something to the tune of, "only paying guests have access to the lodge, but we'd love to make you one of those paying guests! Check out our website as we'd love to have you visit." Nope, nothing like that....we felt like we were caught trespassing. I've talked many times to the current owner and his wife and they seemed so kind and we were thankful they had bought the place, but now I/we are starting to wonder what's going on.

Yelp
It's been 4 years since I last stumbled upon this hidden gem in Copper Harbor! This place reminded me of the movie Dirty Dancing! Since this was an impromptu trip and I only had a few days, I was hoping to be able to spend some time here. Luckily for me, Cabin 10 was available. The highlight of my stay was the dark sky park, which is located on this property. It was a beautiful clear night and I was able to see a million stars and view the northern lights. I absolutely love everything about this rustic gem. It's such a peaceful place to relax, recharge and enjoy nature. I hope to make it back one day.

Yelp
Rude and inconsiderate staff and ownership. Before we could open the door at the lodge we were met with a lady with a 2-way radio. Told us we should have seen 3 signs before we came here guests only and we must leave. We came as a group of 10 adults. I'm local and wanted to show my out of town family the lodge I have been visiting eating at the once opened restaurant and playing golf for over 40 years! Take this post seriously! You will be watched by this place. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Timothy T.

Yelp
Booked the KML as part of a 10 day UP vacation, mostly hiking and waterfall hunting, plus birding and wildlife, hoping for some great stargazing too. KML was the highlight of our 4 different locations, so much that we booked another 4 nights in October! We loved the cabin, exactly what we wanted and extremely well done. The lodge is fantastic, underutilized by design perhaps. We had breakfast one morning, left too early our last morning to partake. Fantastic bowls, great setting. Looking forward to trying dinner at the lodge next time. Also walked the golf course and talked to the groundskeeper, very nice layout and well maintained, also looking forward to playing on our next trip. We got up at 2:30am to try the dark sky park, unfortunately the moon was a bit too bright but we still had an amazing sky. I have a feeling this will be on our list every year when we're booking our getaways!

Yelp
We booked a three night stay for our first visit to the UP in hopes of seeing the Northern lights. The location is gorgeous and the cabins are cute and cozy.(loved the fire place as it was a chilly weekend) We were aware that we would only have a small fridge and microwave in the room with a grill outside our cabin. Since dinner was extremely pricey and only available with extended notice(we tried making reservations for o so days ahead of time and were told they needed two weeks notice), we brought several meals worth of stuff to grill. We did take advantage of our included breakfast burrito each morning but based on photos I'd seen on Google I thought there was a more expansive breakfast and lunch menu. Breakfast was really just a burrito or burrito bowl. Lunch was just a selection of a couple sandwiches. The lodge itself is beautiful but again from Google photos I expected a staffed bar in the main area which was not available. The weather was rainy and cloudy most of the time, obviously not within their control so we didn't achieve our Northern Lights sighting. But one evening was clear and we were able to see a ton of stars, the milky way and even a brief glimpse of the starlink satellites. We encountered many people who visit the lodge annually, but personally while I'm glad to have gone and experienced the UP and Lake Superior it's not something I'd feel the need to do again. I did appreciate some elements of the unplugged relaxation but there were many times during the weekend when we didn't even have gps service which made it difficult to find places we wanted to visit.

Yelp
Nice place to visit. Clean hotel. Spectacular views of Lake Superior with some nice photographs on the wall for art.

Yelp
What a gorgeous lodge! It feels like you're stepping back into the days of Dirty Dancing with the surrounding cottages and golf course. Enjoyed an egg burrito bowl at the Cabin Cafe. The homemade sausage is amazing with its Lebanese twist,

Linda W.

Yelp
We are visiting for our third time, , but last time was 10 years ago when we absolutely loved it. Now the rustic has devolved to worse than a roadside hotel. Everything in the place looks worse than anything I have donated to Goodwill. Along with the towels and pillows. We're paying $200 night. What really stuns me is that we had fun going to the lodge previously for drinks in the bar, meeting people, having fun and a dinner in the lodge. All closed now. After 6 you can't even buy a snack inside. You can still buy a meal at the lodge for $100/person, though, if you book ahead and actually like the menu. Sad to see this beautiful, historic place go so downhill. Without the lodge open for anything, this is no longer a "lodge". It's just unrefined log cabins.

Yelp
We were staying in the area and decided to try to get some fish again. We sat in the back area with a beautiful view of the golf course. Our server, Taylor, came over to get our drink order. He returned shortly to take our order. We said we wanted to get the Lake Trout we have when we last ate here. He got a look on his face and apologized and said they were out of the Trout. However, he said the chief could fix us a very nice tasty White Fish Sandwich. So we said we would, mine with Sweet Potato Fries and my wife with Slaw. He brought them out and they were hot, fresh and scrumptious. We were not disappointed and were very glad we came back. this is a beautiful park and lodge. If you are in the area give them a try. Reasonable priced and very good service.

Yelp
By far the WORST lodging experience in my life. The owner, John Mullen, is condescending, unprofessional and belittling to customers. I was in the hospitality business for over a decade and am appalled at how he treated us today. This lodge is a special place to Yoopers and he clearly doesn't appreciate the community by how he spoke to us today. The incompetent receptionist, Monica, charged us for half of a duplex (17) for two nights-- for $998. When we continued to ask about the price, she then realized she made an error and it was $655 with a AAA rate. Still incredibly expensive but she promised the bathrooms were renovated-- which they were NOT. Monica then rented the other half to a random stranger without telling us-- an hour after our checkin. My assumption was that they charged us both for $325/night. When we asked for John Mullen to call us once we realized the huge error his receptionist made in charging us for the entire duplex but renting the other half to a stranger, he refused to call us and told us to come up to lodge. We are paying customers at his lodge and the owner couldn't take the two minutes to return our phone call while staying at his lodge. I called at least five times and they continued to ignore my calls and when they did answer, told me to come to the lodge and that the owner refused to speak to me by phone. We then took time out of our vacation to go speak to John and he refused to refund us until we found the random stranger that they rented the other half of the duplex to as if it is our responsibility. The onus of who they rented a room to is NOT on the customer. Monica, the receptionist had the opportunity to resolve this matter and be honest about her errors, but instead chose to blatantly lie and said she rented the entire cabin to us and never sent the gentleman to our cabin. John stood behind the untruthful receptionist and kept positively reinforcing her continued errors and lies. He then continued to threaten to not refund our money or resolve the matter until we found the other duplex renter. Once he finally refunded our money, the receptionist couldn't even figure out how to divide the original payment by two-- and overcharged us once again. John just stood there drinking his coffee-- no apology or acknowledgement of this entire situation or continued errors. The incompetency of his staff clearly is reinforced by the incompetency of the owner who doesn't know how to speak or treat people with common decency or respect. Something normal people typically learn at his age as a professional in the hospitality business. Clearly not. This owner/lodge cares about your money and nothing else. If you do choose to stay here, be sure to check your credit card statements and your receipts-- and expect to have a stranger in your room when you come home from dinner.

Yelp
The food was pretty good, but took a while to come out (we were in a rush this day). My wife got a Greek salad she enjoyed and I got a spicy swine sandwich. I liked it, but I wish it had a little more sauce and I opted for the coleslaw (which tasted good) over the fries ($2 upcharge, but it was a very small dish: I'd pass on it next time). The kids had various pasta dishes, which they all ate. They also had a decent beer selection and I liked some of the layout of the restaurant. The staff we also good. I'll give this place another chance next time I'm in Copper Harbor.

Yelp
We recently stayed here on our National Park road trip. The cabins are lovely rustic cabins. They supply you with plenty of firewood so you can have a nice crackling fire every evening. The property is beautiful and the lodge is really nice. The food was good as well. This was the perfect place to stay while we went and explored Isle Royale National Park as the ferry out is in Copper Harbor and only a 5 minute drive from the lodge. I'd highly recommend giving this place a chance if you are in the area. The owners were extremely helpful and nice.

Ken S.

Yelp
Had high hopes that the new owners would do good by this historic place but unfortunately they are not. The lodge is no longer welcoming to the public. They've gone out of their way to make it known they are only there to cater to the guests so gone are the days of stopping in for a drink or some food. Their supposedly world renown chef who prepares $100 plates of spaghetti is rude to customers. Bottom line, unwelcoming and over priced they've alienated the locals and have shut this place down to the public. It will fail so hopefully the new owners will learn lessons.

Yelp
So sad to see what this place has become. As recently as five years ago we could still eat in the main dining room and enjoy the beauty that is the Historic Keweenaw Mountain Lodge. The past few years we've been told the dining room is no longer open and been forced to sit in the bar area...and contend with an abbreviated (and poor quality) bar menu. This year they were out of both the trout and the lake superior whitefish. My family has been coming here since it was built, but nostalgia can't compensate for the continued mismanagement and poor quality. Really sad.

Yelp
We had dinner and it could not have been better! Beef Salisbury, beast burger and spicy pork were soooo good. Drinks were equally as good. Ambiance was perfect with big tables and chalet feel. Food came out fast and service was great! Can't wait to return!!

Yelp
I've been planning a vacation to the Keweenah Peninsula for about a year now. I've been following the recent developments with the change in ownership of the KML. So, I've really been looking forward to coming to the KML especially after hearing they were under new management and hearing about and watching videos concerning the changes and the plan to return the lodge to a place of greatness. We didn't stay at the Lodge this visit but HAD to eat dinner here at least once during our visit. We made reservations for 8PM The Lodge looks Great. The restaurant is very nice. When we arrived about 10 minutes before 8 we waited for about 5 minutes with not a soul at the hostess stand. There were about 6 tables seated. There appeared to be no staff whatsoever. Finally, a server saw us standing in the entrance and approached us telling us that if we were here for dinner we would be in for "quite a bit of a wait." "Even if we have reservations?" I asked.. We were seated promptly at 8:01. Like I said, only about 6 tables seated anyway..., I was a little disappointed that MANY of the other guests looked like they just got done working on their cars before they came to dinner. Cutoffs and sleeveless T-shirts. Only one other guest in the restaurant was wearing a button down shirt. We started off with cheese curds. They took a while to arrive at our table, but, so far so good... They were excellent. If you're into marinara on your cheese curds you'll have to bring your own. Next, a dinner salad, took a while to arrive, but also very good. It's now 9:10, we're over an hour in and we're still waiting for our entrees. Apparently the two tables with parties of 8+ were causing our party of 2 to have to wait. At this point, our server, who was very sweet and apologetic earlier pretty much disappears... We waited another 10 minutes then I went to the kitchen door, asked if I should just leave a $20 on the table to cover our curds and my salad. I was told no, I was free to leave if I wanted to. So we did. Sadly, after 9:00 there is virtually no where on the Keweenah Peninsula to eat. BYE, won't be back.

Yelp
We stayed off-season overnight on a recommendation. Depression era WPA project. Quaint, cozy log construction. Room was large and comfortable, if not fancy. (Been a long time since I've seen a CRT TV.). Dinner was delightful. Big, log lodge. Flavorful strip steaks, done exactly the way we each wanted them. Baked potatoes, seasoned and in foil. Perfect for a log dining room. Not gormet, but excellent. I was carrying wine on the trip, so I asked about corkage. Server had never heard of it, but after consulting with the bartender, they charged me $15.

Yelp
Disgusting!!! After enjoying a nice morning in the copper harbor area, we chose the lodge for lunch. In a mostly-empty dining room, we were seated in an area that used to be the porch, but has since been closed in. The main area of the dining room that we walked through was a comfortable temperature. After sitting in the 'porch' area for a few minutes, we noticed it was humid and stuffy. There were no fans or air conditioning vents in the 'porch' area. After ordering and looking around, we noticed a few flies... and then more flies... and then more flies... it was gross. We mentioned it to the waitress, and she said, "yeah, we have a bit of a fly problem". She never offered for us to move, or spoke to a manager. We should have left then, but we were hungry. The more I thought about it and the fact that we were sitting about 15 feet from the kitchen entrance, I was getting grossed-out by the thought of how many flies must be in the kitchen. Needless to say, by the time the food arrived, I was no longer hungry and left the food on the plate. BTW, I also uploaded pictures of the flies.

Yelp
Wow! Great place with a 5 STAR "beast" burger. 3 out of the 4 of us tried the burger and it was outstanding. Nothing in town was open besides one gas station (on a tuesday) and we stopped here to grab a bite to eat. definitely would come back again! fantastic service, beautiful place inside and out!

Yelp
Awful experience. Food was terrible. The Manager, Harvey, and his wife Susan were entirely unprofessional and unfit to oversee any sort of business, let alone a lodge with a restaurant. Don't even think about going here if you are a group of 4 or more. The singular redeeming quality was the scenery. We will never come back- and will make sure we tell all our friends and family who might venture into the area to stay away.

Yelp
arrived for our reservation, seated right away and given water. After waiting 40 minutes for our food ,after being told two of the things we ordered they were out of, our food came out cold the garlic mashed potatoes were hard. I couldn't even finish my food. When the bill came the bill was wrong. Would definitely not recommend this place at all if I could give a half star I would.

Yelp
After a morning of riding through the hills of Upper Peninsula, our group began to get hungry even after the delicious treats at Jampot and a visit up to Brockway Mountain. My dad, ever the planner, booked our group here for our lunch. Our servers were attentive from the start making sure that we had lots of water, iced tea, and soda. They promptly took our orders. The Keweenaw Lodge is decorated in typical lodge with mooseheads and lush carpets. The main dining room reminded me of an old school Continental restaurant I worked at as a teenager with heavy wooden chairs and a warm ambiance. For our lunch, we had three choices of entrees: burger, grilled chicken sandwich, and Cobb salad. Both my husband and I got the burger. It really the spot after riding in the crisp Michigan air for the morning. I saw the salad enjoyed by other riders. In the grand tradition of the UP, the salad was served in a gigantic bowl. It seemed like every salad served in the UP came in large bowls. Our group seemed pretty happy with the lunch, so it was a success! I liked the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge for our lunch stop. The food was good and the sights were beautiful. I could see returning to the Lodge for a quiet vacation.

Yelp
Had an excellent burger after the first 9 holes of golf. Service was just ok. Scenery was great!

Yelp
Good food. Enough said. Go here now. You will miss out if you don't go here. I'm serious.

Yelp
The Montain Lodge is the premier hotel / restaurant in the Keweenaw Peninsula. It does not get any better than this, folks. I come here every summer and have at least one dinner here with friends. This is the place to gather with big groups of friends. I ordered a pasta bowl. It was huge. Nice restaurant. Decent food. Huge portions. Cute Yooper girls, Jenny Craigers: stay away! No cell phone coverage here at all.

Yelp
My wife and I have been eating at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge since the late 1960's and live just several miles away . Our children have been eating here since they were infants and are now in their thirties and forties. When we came up in the summer months we ate here, played golf and just hung around on an almost daily basis and much of the time ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here. It was very relaxing here and we would sometimes walk from our place on Lake Medora to the Lodge for lunch and then to either Copper Harbor or back home.Everything was hunky dory here until about maybe 8 to 10 years ago when everything started to decline ( services seemed to be cut on a regular basis, management changed every year or so, no longer ate in the dining room and beautiful porch area, no longer fires in the fireplace, food quality dropped from a 9 or 10 to a 3 or 4 at best, service was a disgrace and the entire place seemed like it was shutting down from lack of care. We we're feeling very disappointed that such a wonderful place was so neglected- Thankfully, the Lodge was sold last fall (2018) and the new owners and staff were able to breathe new life into the Keweenaw Lodge with numerous and tasteful updates everywhere and revitalization of the lodging facilities and restaurant. We attended the first function (Mother's Day)-brunch and it was wonderful-with great food, service and now eating in the dining room and porch area where you should be eating. Everyone is cheerful again and it is so wonderful to see what they have done to make this establishment once again the premier place for food and lodging in the Keweenaw area. We ate there yesterday and had the beef stew which just great ( a 10) -We will now be making our regular trips there and thanks for making the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge great again.

Yelp
Played golf then had dinner with a group of friends. The menu prices were a tad high for the quality of food you get. I ordered the jerked chicken wings appetizer. It was deep fried breaded wings with a splash of jerk? Not very gourmet. I had the full rack of ribs, which was tender but the BBQ sauce was so-so. They have room to improve the sauce. The price was reasonable. Side salad was not crisp. Overall, they just made it to 3 stars.

Yelp
Convenient location to ferry service. Rooms big, beds good, clean. Only issue was with the restaurant. They were out of all local fresh fish.

Yelp
Had lunch their today. Maybe it's COVID issues but it was one of the worst lunch experiences ever and I am very forgiving. Food came out in 15 minute increments and it was small portions and not cooked properly. Didn't receive sides that came with the dishes. Will not return.

Yelp
The cabin is exactly that. A cabin. There was an electric fire place and a small tv with satellite which was nice. The bed wasn't anything to write home about, but it did the job. I did notice that the walls are very thin so if you have loud neighbors that could be bothersome. I can't forget to mention that everything was very clean and towels were supplied daily just as they would be at a hotel. They allow dogs for a small fee which was worth it to bring ours along. My biggest disappointment was the food at the lodge which was overpriced. I ordered the mac and cheese sandwich which sounded good and was highly recommended by our waitress. However, what I received was bread with very obviously boxed kraft mac and cheese with deli ham that was so salty I had to remove it from the sandwich to finish it. Needless to say I wouldn't pay 8 cents for that sandwich let alone 8 dollars. Very disappointing. And I'm still hungry.

Yelp
No one in the restaurant, service was super slow, food was mediocre. We will not be back.

Yelp
This resort has a lot of potential but is over priced for its current offerings. We stayed in one of the hotel rooms, while it was spacious, it smelled quite musty and doesn't have TVs. I'm ok with no TV as long as there are other nighttime activities which for the most part there were not. Bar closed at 10pm. Apparently there are new owners and it shows. Staff members were friendly but no one seemed to know answers to our questions which got to be annoying. The food in the lodge was seriously over priced. The breakfast available was a Bagel and cream cheese :|. The golf course was in pretty rough shape and we were happy not to overpay to play. Overall it was a very disappointing experience.

Yelp
Hands down the best calamari in town. Prepared perfectly, flash fried, not greasy, and a generous portion. The calamari was served on a bed of delicious marinara (slight heat). We also had their Jamaican jerk chicken sandwich with curry coleslaw on ciabatta bread. We'll be back!

Yelp
I must tell you about the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge. The restaurant to be exact. I am so pleased there is a new owner who is sincere enough to take on the enormous task of restoring and updating this historical "gracious lady". It is now Spring and how appropriate to feel a breath of fresh air inside this lodge. Come and see the renovations, furniture, lovely plants and wonderful lighting fixtures . Tables have been set and are waiting for you to sit down and enjoy a meal. There is a small food menu for now but the choices cover a snack to a full meal with much better food and preparation. If you did not eat here on Mother's Day- you really missed a nice time. Food buffet was good with a rose for all of the ladies. There was even a terrific pop-up florist to the left of the dining area when you entered enabling you to purchase more flowers, bouquets and personalized arrangements if needed. Wait staff is up-beat and cheerful. Janna is excellent and knowledgeable. This place is definitely worth a try. I believe you are in for a pleasant, much waited for, surprise.

Yelp
For $140 a night I expected more than a box spring to sleep on. The motorcycle gang coming in at midnight and leaving at 8 am the next day was another unpleasant addition to our stay. I was terribly disappointed.

Yelp
Stayed here for nostalgia, as a family member remembered it from the 1970s. Would not stay here again. In a nutshell: adequate, clean room, but amenities lacking for the price. We paid $150, including taxes, in late June for one night and were expecting a lot more for the money. Pros: quiet, serene setting. Quaint 1930s lodge. Complaints: No breakfast at the lodge. Mattresses too firm. Primitive shower spray head - almost painful. Only one regular coffee packet No fridge, no microwave. TV was tiny and picture quality was poor. Overall not a bad place. Must be a reflection of a seasonal touristy spot.

Yelp
Came here for a drink. Service was welcoming, but stressed. The atmosphere was wonderful minus the yuppies wearing their best Calvin Klein flannels. The taps were pretty good and the old fashion made perfectly. No real complaints, but my girlfriend and I didn't eat here, either.

Yelp
The Keewenaw Mountain Lodge is a sprawling resort in the pine mountains (really big hills) of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It offers an idyllic if somewhat raggedly maintained golf course (let's call it rustic), tennis, and unpretentious dining(specialy is prime rib, which is tasty...other options vary in quality). Like much of the area near Copper Harbor, it is crawling with blackflies; even counting them is darn near impossible, so wear long pants and sleeves. Cottages are available for rent. A good lodging location for visitors to the UP.

Yelp
"Nobody puts Baby in a corner!" ...Walk into the Lodge and step back in time. The Keweenaw Mountain Lodge is one of our favorite, kitschy lunch spots in the U.P. The food is nice, though not particularly special, and the service is usually quite friendly. I enjoy their ham and macaroni and cheese sandwich on brioche bread, while my husband routinely orders a burger. The kids get some sort of fried food option that is standard on UP kids' menus and the lodge happily subs salads for the fries if we ask, which is nice. We really enjoy the 50's family lodge ambiance and rustic surroundings. As another reviewer noted, there are occasionally flies, but I've not thought them to be overwhelming (you usually are seated on a screened-in porch, after all). We make it a habit to get lunch at the Lodge a few times each summer after a day of hiking or biking up in Copper Harbor. Give it a shot!

Yelp
Food was good, service so so. Our waitress had a little attitude. Not friendly at all. The food was very tasty and reasonably priced. We had plenty to eat and our bill for two was less than 25 including tip. Great ambiance but we got stuck sitting where we really did not want to sit and server was not accommodating when she could have been. It put a bit of a damper on the evening. But hopefully that was a one time thing . I'd give a 2.5 for service and a 4 for food .

Yelp
We spent some time in Copper Harbor this weekend and we were looking for a place to eat lunch as we headed out of town. It had been some time since we went to the Mountain Lodge for food (Back when they we still open in the winter) but I thought we would give it a try. This place has a lot of history, the story behind how it was built is really cool. The grounds are very nice, very well kept, and it is a pleasant drive from the main road up to the restaurant. There are even nice views of Brockway in the distance. The staff was very nice, the restaurant was clean (A bit Dark inside though), we had our kids with us (5 yrs and 6 month old) and they were super accommodating. It took a little time to get our food but it was very good, and the portions were good as well......Leftovers for later! We would definitely visit here again. I know they are working on reviving the Mountain Lodge, and with such a rich history and beautiful grounds I hope they are successful well into the future. Just from our lunch visit there this past weekend I know they are on the right path, keep up the great work!

Yelp
This is one of the few golf courses on the Keweenaw, so you'll see a lot of the retirees out playing a few rounds. If you are looking for a good place to eat, don't bother stopping in for the buffet. It's not very good, and from what I hear, it's currently $25.

Yelp
The service more than anything was poor. Our waitress told us that she was waiting for a manager to take a beer off the bill while we were clearly watching her smoke outside. In the meantime our water glasses and iced tea all went dry. There was no offer for dessert just brought our bill. I would avoid this place. I had the chicken carbonara. It tasted like the inside of a pot pie and came in a bowl. It was strange to look at and even stranger to try and eat.

Yelp
Just ate brunch here, AWFUL! No hostess. Girl told us it was self serve. Most food pans were almost empty. Had to ask a busboy for water and coffee. $40 for 3 people! Do not come here!

Yelp
This resort is absolutely stunning, set in the back mountain area of the Copper Harbor. The cabins are simply beautiful and relaxing. The golf course is crying shame, it had so much potential, but they never completed it. The food at the restaurant, is no better than Kaleva's in Hancock or Slims near Mohawk, The chef is nothing more than a glorified line cook. Lacking the fundamental skills of basic classical techniques and flavor profiling. Just because an individual slaps a high dollar sign on a menu, doesn't mean it's worth its value.

Floyd K.

Yelp
Food was terrible and the service was poor. We complained to the manager Harvey, he was a total dick.

Yelp
There is no longer a restaurant. Brochure says restaurant opens at 8 for breakfast. Not true! Only later with pub food. Nothing unusual just burgers, pizza, etc. Be prepared you are out of town and need to bring something to eat in the morning or run into town for breakfast. Would like the website to say this. Second day I knew to buy some food at grocery store in town but no refrigerators or microwaves in cabins so no way to keep anything cold. Seems more like just a golf course and bar. Cabins okay but yes they are old log cabins. Just feels like it is headed downhill. We did eat at the bar one night and the food was very good. Calamari wonderful but still need to to breakfast.

Yelp
The price has climbed steadily over the past few years... beyond what the stay is worth in comparables. The cabins are nice, but have not kept up with what is offered in other vacation areas... thus my price comment. At one time the Lodge offered specials, for example: stay three nights & get one extra night free or a per cent discount for early season reservations... these are a thing of the past! Double check the area, you can find a better deal for your hard earned money.

Yelp
2 of us stayed at "the lodge" in late July '14...Bad News. Expensive and not worth it. Ate an overpriced, but good dinner in the entirely empty dining room. Went to Cabin 10, assigned by the mostly uninformed desk employee. Knew something was wrong when the "neighbor's dog was running around, barking, and defecating on the grass outside our door. Calls to their desk go unanswered and unreturned. Basically, management/owners appear to be "harvesting" the property...no improvements for years, little up keep, lots wrong, s.a. Sticking cheap doors, bad showers(shower head fell off during shower), flickering mercury vapor light in front keeping guest awake...etc, etc. All this was bad enough, but the rude drunkin golfers parking their carts in our space was the final straw...I don't golf anymore, but I bet the course looked equally as bad. This is simply a case of their marketing associates trying to keep a dream alive. Too bad, 'cause the UP has suffered enough. No more trips to "The lodge" for us.
