Hostel Kex | Best places to stay in Iceland

"This hostel is located in a refurbished biscuit factory by the sea in central Reykjavik (kex is Icelandic for biscuit). The chic vintage design moves it a cut above the classic hostel; it’s also got its own library, gym and pizza restaurant, as well as a hair salon in the basement. You can also arrange tours here and hire bikes for exploring the city. There are four-, six-, ten- and 16-bed dorm rooms available – with shared bathrooms – plus private family rooms and even two hotel-quality, en-suite rooms. As hostels go, it’s top quality, and great value in an otherwise expensive city.   " - Oliver Berry

Was here after a long day in the mountains. Aymeric hooked me up with a cup of coffee. Food and beer was reasonable, and the travelers here all had stories. Possibly the best bar I have been in Iceland.

We hopped in to have dinner since we heard that the pizzas were the best in town and it’s true! Such a good vibe all in all in the restaurant/bar area, local beers on the tap amd affordable prices.

Very friendly place, with nicely tasty cuisine and a very welcoming staff. Was there within the Iceland Airwaves festival, so obviously in a highly international setting, but still, simplicity, kindness and quality are master words here.

We stayed here at the end of our trip to Iceland. Wanted a more budget place. It is an old building but lots of character but has all the amenities you might need. We found it clean enough but gets messy as the day goes in which is not the fault of the staff. Front desk and bar staff friendly and helpful. Felt safe. Beds comfy. Hard to get to top bunk for older folk. Great place for the younger generation. Good central location.

Breakfast doesn’t have many choices. The tomatoes are fresh. Friendly server

Great atmosphere and great prices. We stopped in for pizza and were happy with the quality and price point. Two pepperoni pizzas cost us about $20ish dollars and they were a decent size and tasted great! Thin crust and crispy.
