Keys has been around since 1975 and remains a popular restaurant in a number of locations. Unfortunately, they closed the two locations that were closest to me, so it's been a minute since I've been to the one in Roseville.
The place has an attractive and comfortable vibe to it and it's the kind of place you want to linger. We were there for breakfast, since I was craving an omelet and Keys does that particularly well.
I was pleased that the waitress brought me a small pot of coffee, along with my coffee mug. This is increasingly rare, but appreciated, since I don't have to track down a waitress for a coffee refill. (The coffee was excellent, btw).
My wife and I were there before 8 am, so we were able to get a table right away, although it was filling up fast.
My omelet did NOT disappoint. It was exactly what I was craving. The "Build your own omelet" contains five ingredients of your choice. I chose onion, green pepper, ham, bacon, and cream cheese. The quality and quantity were spot-on and couldn't have asked for a better made omelet. It came with wheat toast and strawberry jam. I only finished it because I was so hungry.
My wife had the scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and toast. The eggs were well made and the hashbrowns were crispy on the top and bottom, soft inside. All around perfection.
The only complaints I have is that the service was exceedingly slow. We were in no rush, so it didn't bother us, but it took well over 30 minutes to get our food from the time we ordered. The other issue was a surcharge for using a credit card, which I'm not a fan of.
However, all in all, this was a solid four our of five stars and would have been five out of five except for the two issues I mentioned.
