I thought this place would be like most things you hear hyped up as the "secret local spot" that conveniently happens to be in a popular area. fine but mostly a show to take in tourists. but wow this was actually the greatest fried chicken I have ever tasted. absolutely amazing

The chicken here is probably the best I’ve ever eaten. We had a crawfish pie and a New Orleans praline also. They were good but that chicken is on another level.

Of course I'm here for the fried chicken. Is it greasy? Yes. Does it ooze oil? Yes. Will it give you a heart attack? Yes. Is it the best fried chicken in the US? Probably. 1 piece with fries is more than enough for the average eater. Two if you haven't eaten for a couple days and are famished. Off to have my heart attack.

This store is very cool, friendly staff. And that chicken 🍗 man that's fire! I'm from Texas and we have Gus' world famous chicken there. My absolute favorite. These guys definitely give them competition. And it's very affordably priced. Sorry no pics, ate that food too quick till next time eat, drink and be merry 🍻

I had an unpleasant experience at Key's Fuel Mart on Rampard Street on September 29th at 10:30 am. While purchasing a bottle of water, I had some difficulty with my credit card. The cashier—a blond male in his early 30s—spoke very quickly, and when I asked for clarification, he rudely asked, “Do you not speak English?” His tone and expression were disrespectful and made me feel unwelcome. I did not catch his máme. As someone who works in hospitality, I value courtesy and professionalism, and this experience was both disappointing and offensive. I hope management addresses this incident and ensures better customer service training for staff.

These chicken tenders are excellent! Really crispy, juicy, hot, and full of flavor. I found a new go-to spot!

I like it here, the food is usually hot and the prices are nice. They have fried chicken and poboys. Also nice variety of liquor, chips, candy, etc.

Great chicken but the staff late at night changes the prices they are different every time i go. Refused to give me receipt. the one that wears a gun behind the counter smokes cigarettes in the store

We went here for fried chicken on the internet's recommendation, and it did not disappoint! My friend considers himself a fried chicken connoisseur and was very happy with his meal. Really affordable and no wait too!

When I say coming here right after my touchdown flight in NOLA was a huge mistake, I mean it. After a 9 hour flight with a 5 hour layover, I was STARVING. I got off my plane, went to my hostel, spoke with a man in the street about where I could get some good food and we walked down over to Keys. He warned me too. He told me "young lady this is gonna be the best fried chicken you've ever had". I took it like a grain of salt because who doesn't have a favorite fried chicken place, right? So I went in, got a breast, two thighs, two legs and took my lil baggie and went to the church across the street with him. Went ate that chicken on the church steps and when I tell you I was saved. It was damn near the best fried chicken I've ever had. I mean, my whole trip to NOLA was full of fried chicken from some of the best places in NOLA and I couldn't help but think back to Keys and be like "this isn't the same". For the price? The size? The quality? The flavor? The HEAT? Yeah no. Overall, Keys is the best and I can't wait to come back to NOLA to get my 11pm fix.

I Just had to get me some of that yummy! Then, hubby ate both of them I barely got half of one! Haha. You guys have the best Cajun fried meat & Crawfish pies & are always so kind to us, that is why we keep comin back for More! :)... Damn good cheap gas station fried chicken and elf bar disposable vapes! Went here multiple times during my NOLA trip. Downsides are that it's in a sketchy area, store is pretty dirty and cashiers aren't the nicest. OH WELL I went multiple times anyways so that goes to show how good it is! I'd order the chicken and eat it at Armstrong Park!

Some of the Cashiers during night shift are rude to customers and at times I've seen them draw their hand guns out to customers. I've had my experience disrespect as a loyal customer. Just two weeks ago, I purchased food and a pack of cigarettes and I asked for a receipt. The Cashiers started to ask me about not trusting him and I simply replied by saying "I need the receipt." So the Cashier steadily complaining and made statements such as "they always think somebody's stealing from them and that I must be smoking dope or something." I replied to him by stating " I don't have to be smoking dope to ask for a receipt and besides, I'm an Addictions Counselor." He went on ranting and I got my receipt and left. Over the times of purchasing items from the store, I've witnessed rude customer services especially among Blacks that patronage their business and they seemed to have been unappreciative by not saying thank you as I've witnessed them telling white customers. I'll never spend another penny of my money there.

So first, let me say I know Lil' Dizzy's is a New Orleans institution. I found the seasoning on the chicken a little off. Metallic saltiness, not quite spicy enough. Enter Key Fuel Mart. The chicken was perfect. Tender, spicy, perfect salt, really good price. Check it out. You're welcome.

Oh my gosh! This chicken, which as far as I can tell is 24/7 is amaze-balls. It was fried but not too greasy with a slightly spicy undertone. This is better than any of the big box chicken places and some of the best food. In the quarter. It's a little pricy, but everything in the Quarter is.

On our visit to New Orleans, we stayed walking distance from this gas station store. This is located off of Rampart Street between the French quarter and Tremé. Pretty much everything inside is about the same as you would expect from most gas stations stores that you've been to....Except: THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT! They have a kitchen which serves New Orleans homemade style food. There's no seating for dining. This is takeout only. I didn't take a picture of the oyster Po' boy sandwich, but it was the best oyster Po' boy we've had in New Orleans so far (no offense everyone else). I didn't expect it. The fried chicken was done to perfection and not too greasy. The meat pies were well seasoned with a nice mixture of herbs and onions, etc. They had an assortment of cakes and pies. We had the strawberry cake which was not as heavy as it looked in richness. Since this is very much the walking distance from the French quarter in nearby Rampart Street side hotels, I would recommend this place if you're looking for a good quality yet inexpensive lunch or dinner.

Very surprising the food was really good . I went their to get gas and found out they serve hot food . Chicken was very good and you can buy various everyday thing there . Owners were very helpful .

The best gas station fried chicken and fried meat pies in town. Everything is fresh and not greasy. Chicken is moist and bursting with flavor. The meat pies are as good as you can get in cajun country. Highly recommended.

This place has a little bit of everything. We recently stayed down the street from here and noticed it was 24 hours. This was convenience because we needed snacks, water, and various other items that they seemed to have. They also have a lunch menu which includes po'boys (they're actually damn good and HUGE here!), as well as fried chicken. The prices are cheap like any standard mini mart. The employees are friendly and get to know you the more you visit.

Food is top notch. Easy walking distance and great booze. Mind yo damn business. Get in and get out and you're be set up with amazing chicken and booze fast. Definitely recommend this place.

Where I come from (the Pacific NW), gas station food is mostly garbage. Even the rural markets that have more substance to them put out mediocre offerings at best. However in a place like NOLA, this seems to be a thing. And Key's is doing this thing right. This 24-hour haven is home to a gas station, small convenience store, and fried-food case that brings many delights. The folks who run the joint are super nice, no matter what hour you straggle in. For me, it was various times from mid-afternoon to middle of the wee hours. Whether I came in for water, beer, fried chicken or cat food (the strays at my AirBnB were so cute!), they delivered in spades. The fried chicken here is pretty damn good. Like, not your usual gas station fare. Moist, tender, and flavorful. A little on the greasy side, but not so much that your tum-tum hurts. All around good chicken. The crawfish and meat pies are pretty tasty, with the meat pie being a clear winner. And if you're bored, you can hang and watch TV with them. There seems to always be something interesting on. Ha.

Not only a gas station. Love the fried chicken and meat pies oh and the fish too! Friendly attendants, easy to get in and out, and great quality ingredients. I highly recommend keys to any Nola visitors.

RANKS AMONG THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN IN NOLA and it's to the right of some beer cases in a gas station. The made-to-order tenders here are refreshingly non-greasy, skinless, lightly fried and seasoned with just salt and pepper. KEY'S REALLY SHOULD'VE MADE THE T-P'S LIST. The newspaper recently posted their poll's top 5: 1) Mr. Ed's, 2) Willie Mae's, 3) Popeyes, 4) Chubbie's, 5) Dooky Chase. A few other notable exclusions: Manchu Food and Quarter Grocery. I say make it a top 10. ALL COMBO MEALS ARE LESS THAN $7.99. Of course this is a take-out joint but the Mississippi's riverside benches are only 7 blocks away (menu in photos). But I skip the combo because, like most convenience stores, the fries suck. CAVEAT/TIP: rating is based on chicken made to order and not from the hot case. It only takes them 15 minutes to prepare if nothing's already in the frier so hang out and watch the colorful characters.

Forget about the ambiance. Forget it's just a gas station with a mini-mart. But, their Fried Chicken is to die for. I'm not kidding !!!!! Coming back from Bourbon or Frenchman's. A midnight or 3:00am piece back home w/ a little Crystal sauce. OMG. This Fried Chicken is life changing. Been here for Jazzfest for two (2) weeks. Never get yourself one piece. You'll regret it. Two (2) pieces per person rules apply. The guy at the cash register is pretty cool too.

It's open 24 hours. And it has a sign outside that says "Now serving breakfast!" The breakfast thing puzzles me, because why would a gas station also serve breakfast. Then again, this is the city with businesses that sell bikes plus formal wear, so I suppose this isn't particularly odd given the context. In the past, I've had significantly less than awesome experiences here, most notably the time we paid for $20 in gas that came out of the pump in such a slow, pathetic trickle we were literally there for almost thirty minutes. Super lame. Today, I was annoyed that I had to go inside to get the receipt for my gas, which I paid for at the pump. Usually I'm too lazy to do this, but today I had to have the receipt. Yes, it cost me approximately three minutes and twenty extra steps, but it's a pet peeve of mine. How hard is it to make sure receipts can be printed at the pump? For seriously. Other noteworthy qualities of this gas station include, again, the open 24 hours thing. It's located on Rampart St., just outside the French Quarter, making it the only gas station I'm aware of that's convenient if you're in the FQ and need gas. Or a tshirt, toothbrush, newspaper, cold drink and -- now -- breakfast! They sell an array of seemingly bizarre items for a gas station, but nothing you wouldn't expect to find at your friendly neighborhood ghetto mart. Which I suppose is what this is. There should really be a separate category for that.

Always great food with quality ingredients. I'm glad they are in the neighborhood. The fried chicken is the best at a reasonable price. It's definitely a great take out place.

I was worn out after a long night years ago and found this place on accident. Here I am now an coincidently booked an air bnb next door! Still awesome fried chicken!

Two words. Fried Chicken. Forget that it's a convenient store/gas station. So...it's on Rampart and prob not the best of areas. I've never let a little bit of surrounding criminal activity keep me from trying some tasty fried chicken! My daughter and I walked there without incident and were greeted by a friendly man working the register and a sweet lady behind the chicken counter. We got 4 fried chicken breasts (bone in) and 4 slices of white bread (they were out of rolls). We had about a 10 min walk back and we ate the entire way. The chicken was hot, fresh, juicy, crispy and seasoned. Everything fried chicken ought to be. It was good, very good. I want some more.

Got a shrimp po boy and the lady who made did NOT where plastic gloves just grab the dressing with bare hands. It went in the trash Never go back there.

Dusty location. I don't eat chicken so this review isn't based on the gas station food stuffs. We pull in, fill up and my husband proceeds to go in to ask to use the restroom. The person who I presume to be the manage or owner tells him that he just shut the bathroom down. Shut it down???? It's the middle of the day! I also watched him interact rudely with other paying customers of color. Ridiculous

Okay don't laugh, but we went to this place last year for a late evening snack after a waitress from another local suggested the fried chicken, and I must say the chicken was great. We went again this year and the chicken was just a good as the first time. It's not what you would expect from a corner gas station, but it's well worth a visit.

FRIED CHICKEN the fried chicken is surprisingly good. I found it and saw the review by Mike and tried it Two pieced and bred about $3. They give you a wing and a full breast, great value! Really good .,,, I would tell you to pass on the fries though ...... They don't hold the heat well Seasoned pretty good ..... The roll was straight out of the bag .....pass on that, too

Horrible customer service. Someone was robbed in the parking lot. They refused to call 911. I would never support them. When I asked them to call 911 the cashier asked me to leave the store. Tourist beware they will not make you feel safe

I think I finally found it, the one place that defies the law of Yelp. That law being that if you visit the best and highest reviewed places... heck even the places that every local tells you to visit, that you'll have the best of the best. So what prey tell did Key's have that we searched long and hard for all over New Orleans and the surrounding area. Well it wasn't convenience store items, it certainly wasn't fuel... it was chicken, glorious fried chicken. Holy sweet merciful heaven above!!!! Everything and everyone told us for the best fried chicken in NOLA, we'd either have to visit Willie Mae's or Popeyes. We did the pilgrimage to WM's and after sitting in line for nearly 2 hours, when we finally tasted the treasure at the end of that long hot rainbow we got an overly deep fried, greasy, product that left most of our group with severe stomach issues for days. And let's be honest, we weren't hitting up a Popeyes, that stuff is the same no matter where you go. So we were staying at the French Quarter Suites on N Rampart, and after a night of heavy drinking we stumbled into Key's looking for the traditional after bar munchies, chocolate, chips, candy, maybe a hot pocket. Nope, opening the door was to Key's was like opening the door to King Tut's tomb, except instead of the 10,000 years of dust and decay we were welcomed by the aroma of chicken being freshly fried to order at 3 am!!! What wizardry was this!!! I mean you're not going to stick 9 drunk guys in a gas station at 3 am with fresh fried chicken and NOT have them order... I went whole hog and had a 3 piece with fries. Oh momma was that good. A thin layer of breading and skin, coated in a slightly spicy blend of spices, not enough to burn, but enough that after a few bites you get the sweats. I mean that ISH was goooooooodddd .... I awoke the next morning with chicken grease on my face, my clothes half on, clutching my leftovers in their grease drenched bag in the spoon position in bed. This was the kind of post hook up, morning after that no one is embarrassed about, except for the chicken, given the spectacle I was that morning. We parted ways, leftovers begrudgingly placed in the trash, (and by leftovers I mean bones... pappa don't mess around when he's been drinking and eating - that bird was safely in ma belly) and I swore that would be the only time... How could I have been so naive? I ended up repeat offending with this late night mistress several times over the next few nights of my trip... sometimes 1 piece, other times 2 .... always waking up with very little shame and mostly pride and a desire to meet her again. I don't know when I'll be back to New Orleans again, but I know that there's a gas station with my name on it serving up the best fried bird around. Eatcrest Out

This is a gas station that also offers po boys, fried chicken and other food items that are mostly fried. They are open 24/7 so that really puts the "convenience" in their store. This is one of the few gas stations convenient to the French Quarter and its usually easy to access with a nice selection of items.

This place is a mere stone's throw from my house so I'm in here on the daily. By now the owner knows what kind of cigarettes I smoke and that I have an affinity for red lipstick. It seems like everyone that works there is related in someway and they are all super nice and accommodating. Does it look a little sketchy from the outside? Yes. It isn't really that sketchy, though. I mean compared to the other gas stations within a 5 block radius this place is Club Med. The parking lot is well lit and I've never felt unsafe here pumping gas in the middle of the night. They have really good fried food if you're in to that type of thing. They have an ATM and sell everything from iPhone chargers to glass pipes to a surprisingly good assortment of beer. They normally have pretty good specials on Red Bull, too. 4 stars, I'm a fan!

Small parking lot with convenience store and generic gas. The neighborhood looks rough, but women walk by themselves, not prostitutes, and few houses have bars on the windows. I couldn't believe when I saw Yelp reviews saying it has the best fried chicken in NO. It looked good, but I just ate gumbo!

Food made me sick to much Greece asked one person how much something was and was given rudeness by the staff not worth deAling out cash for food that makes u sick and people who work there are very rude

Seriously health department should close this place down, I would NEVER get food from here. Twice I have come to put gas and twice I have witnessed employees pissing outside the store near their gate. That is unsanitary and very disturbing! Avoid getting food from here or paying anything with cash since they don't wash their hands after peeing outside. Save your money and go elsewhere!!

I know it's madness, but a very frank bartender at The Abbey directed us to this nondescript gas station as his favorite fried chicken in town. Son of a gun -- maybe not the best I ever had, but shockingly good given the surroundings. I personally recommend skipping the tenders and getting the chicken on the bone. From our sampling, the bone-in chicken was much better seasoned and tastier than the tenders. This is an example of why I love New Orleans, for the surprises the city never ceases to offer!

The people that work here are stellar. The fried shrimp sandwich?: Oh, yes. 'Tis just a convenience shop- but so much more. Come see.

This place has AWESOME fried chicken. Its hot and crispy and maybe just a little too greasy (in a good way). Deliciously seasoned, and certainly not overpriced (because hey, it comes from a gas station), this chicken will throw your brain a curveball, because who would have thought such great fried chicken would come from such an unsual locale.

When pulling into this local, shall I say scetchy looking, gas station, you think to yourself "Wow this place is scetchy" and then almost get run over by a taxi. The fried chicken there tastes homemade and has a great flavor to it. Many napkins are needed as the grease is running off of it. The fries are a great addition, but not necessary, if you are watching your fat or cholesterol. We also tried the meat pie, which tasted like a meat pie. Lots of flavor, nice crust and a good fuzzy feeling inside after you eat it. Definately a must try for those in the area.

Stop by Key's Fuel Mart if you are staying near Rampart and are on the way to Bourbon street. Pick up a road beer are a few amenities for your hotel stay. The gentlemen behind the counter are friendly and won't make you feel out of place.

I walk in and a guy (one of the neighborhood bums) was standing in front of the chicken like it's gold...I asked the guy why he was standing in front of the food...then the bum guy said he works there...then the owner said the guy was standing in front of the food for security so that no one would grab food and run out...odd.... I didn't buy anything because the place smells like gasoline and frying oil that is never changed. I was concerned that the chicken would taste like the smell of the gas station. This place made me feel very uncomfortable. I decided to take a pass. I should not have walked into this place anyway...on the outside it looks nasty dirty and contaminated...... Maybe they are selling something other than what they advertise in that gas station. I should have never stepped into that nasty place. Geez.

Roast beef poboy with grilled onions is one of the best I have ever had. The roast beef tasted fresh and the gravy was awesome. The shrimp poboy is a good choice as well.
