After strolling around Akihabara for a few hours, we were in need of food. We decided to try out what KFC is like in Tokyo and compare it to our experience in NYC. No surprise here, it exceeded our expectations!
Don't be fooled by the small storefront downstairs. There's plenty of seating upstairs. The menu is also full of pictures in case you have any trouble picking out what you want.
We got two pieces of fried chicken, two pieces of the spicy chicken, and wedges. This also came with a drink. I love that they serve the chicken with special napkins that absorb the grease and keep it off of your fingers. The fried chicken was on par with what you'd get in the states. Perhaps a little less salty but still greasy, indulgent, and satisfying. The spicy chicken were cutlets breaded in cornflakes. This made for a nice crunch on the outside but the chicken itself wasn't really spicy at all. I did like this less-greasy alternative, though. The real curveball was the biscuits. These were a flakier, Pillsbury-Grands style than the traditional KFC biscuit. They also serve it with honey which is delicious for dipping the chicken in, too. Potato wedges were a hit.
KFC holds up in Tokyo and adds it's own unique flair! We went back at least once more during our trip. The dining area upstairs is also very clean.
