This casual dining establishment offers a delightful blend of Thai cuisine, featuring popular dishes like Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles and a selection of sushi and other Japanese fare. Located in Fairfax Station Square in Fairfax Station, Virginia, the restaurant has an interior that, while somewhat dated, exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The friendly staff enhances the overall dining experience, making it quite pleasant. Overall, the food is enjoyable. Among the dishes we tried, a few truly stood out. The Drunken Noodles with Seafood came in a generous portion and featured wide rice noodles that were fresh and had an excellent texture. This dish was flavorful and mildly spicy, perfectly complemented by the seafood. The Caterpillar Roll offered a harmonious blend of eel, avocado, cucumber, and eel sauce, resulting in a satisfying taste profile. Additionally, the Crazy Scallop Roll consisted of a spicy tuna roll topped with seared scallop, avocado, roe, and a tangy sauce, creating a delightful combination.

The staff are AMAZING here! They have great hospitality and are very professional. The sushi was great and the Thai dishes were too. When you come here, you HAVE to get the Thai tea float. This place’s Thai tea float is very unique and is a delicious desert. I also like how they styled the interior.

Not gonna lie, I skeptical at first - A Thai and sushi place. We tried out both and either disappointed us. Food was delicious, service was attentive and polite. Environment was welcoming and private.

Google
The tofu was dry and broccoli too hard to chew. The sauce was good though. The salad had too many onions and tomatoes and the dressing was too thick and pastey. Really disappointed. We couldn’t order the sushi via Door Dash because it wasn’t offered.

This place is great! I'm so glad I stopped by because it gets lost in the area. I had the lunch special Thai cashew chicken, so good. The owner is really friendly, service incredibly fast. Such a cute place.

This is our family’s favorite restaurant in local area. Every thing they make is fresh not store bought. Try the freshly made spring rolls and then one of many spicy tuna rolls. The Mexican Roll is my favorite. One of the pictures attached show the new Crispy Salmon Roll. My family also loves the Pai Tai and Sweet and Sour Chicken. The owners and staff are amazing and so welcoming!

Google
The thai food here is decent but the portion sizes are a little small. The sushi seems to be of good quality but the rolls are all very similar to each other and not fantastic, in all. Service inside is super slow, they seem understaffed. Very kind people working there, though. I was a little irritated to find this after paying, though. 4% fee on credit cards. Not totally unusual but a higher percentage than I've seen before. And hidden under the receipt.

Google
Used to be more authentic Thai and delicious with correct ingredients, but over the last 2 visits it tastes like they hired a new cook from a shopping mall Chinese restaurant... Pad Thai and drunken noodles both have the wrong noodles and sauce, and their Thai sausage is not sai ou chang Mai sausage but more like Jimmy Dean... And every single dish was just filled with tons of green bell pepper instead of Chinese broccoli and other vegetables as you would expect. On top of it all, they now charge an extra 4%. If you want to pay your $100 bill with a credit card! We will not be back.

Yelp
5/5 because it's a place we'd go back to. Nice ambiance, easy parking, good service, wide variety menu. Phili roll, chive dumplings, pagnang curry + basil fried rice were shared amongst the table. The chive dumplings had the perfect crisp to them! The curry was smooth and great for a cold night. My husband enjoyed his rice and finished the plate. Sushi was fresh, both rice and fish. Would go back to try noodles and more sushi.

Yelp
I've been here 4 times and it's consistently good. This time, we had the fish cakes (tod mun pla), papaya salad (som tum), pad see ew, spicy eggplant basil with chicken, and green curry with vegetables/tofu. Not all Thai restaurants have the fish cakes so whenever I see them on a menu, I order it. They were very good with a bit of a springy texture, but I do prefer them with a bit more spice. The papaya salad was bright and flavorful with a good amount spice that tingled on the tongue. The pad see ew was great! Lots of good vegetables cooked just right and there seemed to be a bit of wok hei going on. The spicy eggplant was just as good, and you get to add a protein. So it was really gai pad krapow (sliced chicken, not minced) with Chinese eggplant added. If you're familiar with pad krapow dishes from other good Thai restaurants, this one should live up to your expectations. The green curry with vegetables and fried tofu was alright, but it was a bit weak. I think because we ordered the vegetable version, a lot of water came out and diluted the flavor. It was still good, but if I were to order green curry again, I'd get a meat rather than vegetables. Overall, this was a really good meal and we're sure to go back. Please note, they will add a 3% surcharge if you pay by credit card. This is because they are getting hit with credit card processing fees. If you pay debit or cash, you won't be charged this. This notice might have been posted at the front or somewhere else, but I only saw it when they gave me the bill folder. They were very polite in explaining it and since I had the cash, I had no problem paying that way. Feel how you want about these fees and whether or not they should be baked into the price of the meal. I'm fine helping out a small business and paying cash.

Yelp
Best Pad Thai in town, my wife and I have been going here at-least once a month. Highly recommend Khao Hom. This is such a hidden gem.

Theresa W.

Yelp
I cannot recommend Khao Hom's pad thai enough - the flavor, the texture and most importantly, the consistency. I used to live in the area and would come here once a week but still CRAVE it before I get my weekly fix. I have now moved out of Fairfax but have to make the drive here a few times a month just to get pad thai. My regular items are Yum Woonsen, Papaya Salad, and Pad Thai.

Courtney H.

Yelp
Sushi and gyoza was fantastic! Thai tea was delicious Will be back soon, hopefully to dine in!

Michal A.

Yelp
The food is great and the service is so welcoming and friendly. Our go to for a family dinner. They have a nice selection of sushi, Thai dishes, and vegetarian options. It is a family friendly restaurant that we always enjoy eating at.

Trish G.

Yelp
This Thai and Sushi restaurant is one of the BEST in Fairfax. The food is always fresh and full of flavor. Some of our favorite dishes are the sushi rolls, pad thai, thai fried rice, sizzling ginger and sizzling garlic. Even the thai iced coffee and tea are so delicious. Honestly, everything we've tried from here is spectacular! Another bonus is the owner who is always greeting people with great conversation or even a hug if you're lucky! I see her helping out the staff front and back of the house. She is amazing! I promise you won't be disappointed in this local favorite!

Yelp
Good - food, service, price, local gem. Bad - limited beer selection. Ugly - none.

Leda C.

Yelp
We've only ever gotten sushi here, so this review is just for that. We like to sit at the sushi bar, and the sushi chefs are excellent. Everything we've ever gotten is top-notch and you can tell the chefs take pride in their work. The staff is friendly and always easy to flag down, which is really nice after you've been poring over a sushi menu for a while before picking something out. Prices are what you might expect, but they're competitive considering how good the food is. Highly recommend!

David H.

Yelp
Ate here recently and really enjoyed it. I had the drunken noodles with pork, one companion had sushi and the salmon curry, another had Pad Thai with the Tom Kha vegetable soup. The drunken noodles dish was well proportioned with plenty of pork slices. The flavor was deep and the spice was just about right for my taste. I tried the soup and the Pad Thai and both were excellent. I'm not a fish eater, but was told the sushi and salmon dish were spot on. This is some of the best Thai food that I have had in the area. I will be going back often.

Ulysses D.

Yelp
Food is delicious. The customer service is excellent. The ambience is 1000. If you haven't visited this place you are definitely missing out. Check it out people or you will regret it. Daddio as spoken. Peace love and happiness one love.

Thuy V.

Yelp
Hole in the wall Thai in Fairfax Station but very good! It's kind of regular looking inside but plenty of room to eat in. We came early for dinner and was able to do the happy hour with discount appetizers. Had the fried tofu, fried dumplings and both were great. Hubby had his favorite, crispy duck basil. Many restaurants have this but it was probably in the top two we had with good meat, nice crisp and good flavor with spice. I tried something different with the chicken cashew and it was good but I will probably stick with my favorite thai dishes. It's a little out of the way for us but will try to come back! And by the way the staff seemed fun and happy to be here.

Christian G.

Yelp
Don't go for sushi not good quality the tuna was frozen dry and not red the veggie soup was serve with raw vegetables !!! And corn from the can this restaurant charge too money for low quality food I don't recommend never go back !!!

Shanell M.

Yelp
Some of the best sushi I've ever had!! The service is wonderful and the food here is spectacular. I stumbled upon this restaurant while searching online for local sushi restaurants. The other reviews peaked my interest and I couldn't be happier that I went to give this place a try. Looking forward to visiting again. Next time I promise to take photos. I was so hungry and it looked so yummy that I had to dive right in. Cute spot for family/friend outings and even a date.

Yelp
After reading all the reviews suggesting this was a neighborhood hidden gem I took the family for dinner at 8pm on a Friday night. There were only two tables occupied. Not a great sign; but maybe they're popular with delivery and we did see lots of that activity. However, being as empty as they were it took the otherwise unoccupied servers to bother to check our table (until I waved someone over). We had 2 sushi rolls, masago nigiri, kanom Jeeb and spring rolls for appetizers. Hot appetizers came first and then the sushi about 45 minutes later. Our entrees arrived around 9:20, almost 90 minutes after arrival. Overall they were good except the Crispy Whole Flounder turned out to be fried cod fillets. I asked "where's the whole flounder!"... "here's fish fillets". And then they' the server just walked off. For the record l know the difference between flounder and cod. There were never more than 3 tables occupied while we were there. Again, maybe delivery is their sweet spot. The food was good, but the experience didn't stand up to the rave reviews. Might be willing to try them again if we're in delivery range. The duck curry was very good.

Yelp
We visit every other week and love the Pad Thai and Siam Beef. We always start with Satay and end with a great Thai Iced Tea!

Joseph B.

Yelp
Just came back from Thailand. The food here is a far stretch from authentic Thai food. Did not try the sushi. Had the Phat Thai which was OK, but not great. Soups were OK; a little watery and not very tasteful unlike in Thailand. Got spoiled in Thailand where even the small establishments provide robust and very flavorful food. Really no comparison with this place.

Alice S.

Yelp
One of my favorite thai restaurants in Fairfax this is a hidden gem! They also have delicious sushi! I usually get the ginger stir fry and my husband the drunken noodles, but everything we have tried is great. Definitely recommend!

Long N.

Yelp
Great food, especially pad thai and drunken noodles. The Thai waitress is super friendly and attentive.

Michelle H.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed all 9 of our orders on Christmas Eve!! This was our first time ordering from them and I am certain it will not be the last! Excellent food!

Craig M.

Yelp
Nice place for takeout. Good selection for the family with a nice variety of Asian favorites. Good flavors and nice portions. Spice level is definitely there so be warned if you order the "Thai Hot" level on anything! Definitely will keep ordering here for a quick, tasty family meal. Yelp
We love trying restaurants around us and wow! We usually have a go to spot near us we go to but decided to explore. The drive is like 13 mins from us and when we got home our food was still steaming hot!! The portion is a lot, and we're surprised they have sushi! Sushi was very yummy too! We will deff be back to try some different dishes, but so far we will be back soon! Prices wise too wasn't bad, your average Thai prices. Deff 10/10 no complains

Lyn L.

Yelp
Finally! This amazing Thai place served up a yummy takeout dinner. I was hesitant to try this place because the previous restaurants didn't rate very well. We called in our order since the online ordering system wasn't working well. I always test a Thai place with their Pad See Ewe. I love the grilled taste of the noodles and this place blew it out of the park. It was fantastic. My one criticism is that it reheated very salty. I will prob ask them not to salt my next order. We also order the Thai Basil Fried rice. It was full of flavor and the portion was huge. Hubby ordered a garlic beef dish served with broccoli. It was a generous portion that lasted for 2 days. I look forward to eating in the restaurant. Someday... but honestly take-out was excellent.

Gina R.

Yelp
Friendly employee, clean restaurant, and Pad Thai was good. Very tasty but seems like they use s base of tomato paste not of tamarind to me. Lime was too dry and condiments Thai chili flakes (prik bon) was very powdery and too mild. Overall it was all good, I will definitely be coming back.

Sammy M.

Yelp
Thai food is one of my favorites and I couldn't give this place less than 5 starts, the staff was very nice and helpful, everything was clean and COVID friendly, food was on point! We had chicken pad Thai and crispy duck... very very flavorful and very big portions as well! Can't wait to be back!

Mark G.

Yelp
We decided to try this place last yesterday and we very pleased. We got there in time for the happy hour, so saved a couple of bucks: $7 for a Manhattan, and not bad. Service was personable and very attentive. We only had sushi, so cannot comment on the Thai food. The sushi was very good and we especially enjoyed their "Friendly Rill." We will return and we will also try their take out service.

Fast E.

Yelp
I have put off reviewing this place because I believe it will be an unfair review. I had ordered, through a third party "delivery/pick up" outfit, and when I arrived the restaurant could not find my order, they said there was no order for me. The place was busy, but after a very long time they finally found it- the ordering outfit had identified me on the order by using part of my email address. By the time I got the order and got home the food was "less than..." I'll try again, eat there, and review again after that. By

Yelp
I was recently looking to try out a new Thai place. This location is a hidden gem the reason why I am saying is the food is delicious and has great service. I went there with my sister on Friday night. I order a California roll with drunken noodles. The sushi was fresh and delicious. The drunken noodles had great texture and were not super soggy just perfect. The servery was super friendly I will be returning soon.

Lauren B.

Yelp
This place is amazing ! Really feels like you're at home here. Food is great and the staff is welcoming and always helpful. Best place to come if you want a good family vibe with fantastic food!!! This place is amazing !!

Michelle G.

Yelp
Since moving... this has become our go to spot for sushi takeout. We get our usual favorites and add a couple of new rolls to try each time. They are mostly prompt with service (sometimes they are busy... so serve can be slowed down). The staff is always super friendly.

Nimo A.

Yelp
Love this place! The food is fantastic, and the service is simply amazing. The flavors are remarkable, with each dish expertly crafted to perfection. The staff at Khao Hom is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The ambiance strikes the right balance between elegance and comfort. A must-visit for food enthusiasts looking for an extraordinary dining experience.

Mint E.

Yelp
Best Thai food in town !!! Couldn't ask for more ~ Sushi and Thai food all at once . Very delicious

Jane D.

Yelp
This restaurant is the BEST Thai restaurant in all of Fairfax. And I have had tried almost every Thai restaurant in the area. Their pad Thai is perfection, and their sushi is so beautiful it almost pains me to eat it because it's so beautiful but it's DELICIOUS. They also have great customer service and had our order ready quick and efficiently.

Judy S.

Yelp
This is our favorite Thai spot in Fairfax- service is great food is consistently good! Sushi is the freshest in town.

Wonnie C.

Yelp
I wish this place was closer to home. I try to drop by after work when my commute takes me past. The food is flavor filled and great portions. My husband and I love the sushi option with our thai. I went on a busy day and the manager/owner(?) provided a free Thai tea while I waited for my to go order. I had arrived too early but they still offered great hospitality!

Fred S.

Yelp
We have been dining at Khao Hom for for several years and absolutely love it. The service is great and the food is fantastic. I've had about everything on the menu and always been delighted by each item on the menu. You really can't go wrong here. They also adjust the spice to your taste on each dish. So if you do t like spice don't be afraid of visiting. If you love spicy food like I do ask for double Thai spicy! You'll love it. The owner is usually here and always makes you feel welcome. I also have to add the the sushi is first rate! And I used to live in Japan.

Haley N.

Yelp
The food was good but the service was super slow when we went - it was busy and I think they were training new staff so that was likely a big part of it. The menu had all of the Japanese and Thai go-to dishes, lots of variety and everything we tried was tasty!

HeSaid S.

Yelp
Pros: pad Thai for take out was good. Decent amount of chicken and food. Will try out another item on their menu for takeout. Cons: -You get charge extra $ for more than 1 chili in vinegar condiment. -Green Curry has VERY strong fish sauce smell PLUS sauce curdled (see pic).

Matthew M.

Yelp
Stopped in on the way to an event at Mason and it was great. Had edamame, gyoza, pad Thai and basil beef. All first class. Basil beef came w sticky rice which is always a nice touch. Very attentive (but not overly so) staff and owner was on premises to see how we faired. This place is not easily seen off 123 (poor signage) but worth dropping in. We'll be back.

Elise K.

Yelp
This place is only minutes from my house and I was skeptical on the high rating since it's in a not so popular shopping center. I'm so glad that I gave it a try. The Thai dishes are amazing. We ordered green curry salmon and crispy duck basil and we were very impressed. Don't let this non descriptive place fool you; you will be very satisfied with their authentic Thai dishes. Update: we came back again to try out more dishes. The grilled beef salad was tasty but the sukiyaki was good dish but not a traditional Japanese dish. I tried chicken drunken noodles and it was good but I have had better one at Sister Thai. Over all it is still pretty good for a neighborhood Thai restaurant.

Dhillon W.

Yelp
I love Khao Hom. Service is great, and the food is fantastic. I like getting the wontons as an appetizer and I really enjoy the sushi. They have the best thai food around. Check this place out!

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Had early lunch here with a friend and my daughter last week. I had the fried flounder with the chili sauce which was served on the side, very thoughtful! My daughter had the pad Thai with miso soup and my friend had an enormous serving of drunken noodles with beef. Everything was fresh, hot, and delicious not to mention served quickly which was most appreciated as we were trying to get to a movie afterwards. Great find!

Rachel H.

Yelp
I appreciate that they have both Thai and sushi and do both of them well. Our family also appreciates that they don't have ridiculous portions...just as much as you want to eat.

Steve P.

Yelp
This is our go-to Thai takeout place- we order here a couple of times a month and it's always delicious, with generous portions, and consistently seasoned. We normally order the Green Curry Duck, beef pad see-ew, and chicken pad thai. Our family is always full and has enough for leftovers for lunch the next day. We've dined a couple of times at the restaurant, and the service is always friendly and welcoming. They're eager to offer suggestions and everything we've tried is well made and balanced in flavor. They clearly take pride in their food here. We've only tried the sushi once, but it was good, with generous portions of fish. This is a neighborhood gem- a mom and pop spot that really deserves to thrive. Patronize this business and keep them going.

Vivian T.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from here and was very pleased with the food. A lot of times, Thai places kind of blend in with each other, so I don't usually leave reviews for Thai places unless I really enjoyed the food. I ordered the pad Thai veggie, it was super flavorful and came with a lot of vegetables which I love! My husband got the Panang salmon and was very happy with it. I also love that they offer sushi so we have many options! I ordered the headhunter and volcano roll. It was good, but I thought it lacked a little bit in flavor.

MoJoe S.

Yelp
Good service and the food as delicious! I still need to try more dishes since though so I'll post an update once I do

Yaz R.

Yelp
I am taking off one star for ambience because the ambience is not good here at all. It is very empty inside I guess they have tables super separated because of Covid but it is so echoey and they didn't add anything to the decor to make it cozy. Also the service is kind of slow even when hardly anyone is eating there. That being said the food is very good. The dumplings appetizer was pretty decent. But the pad Thai was awesome and it was so delicious. Definitely not in the top three best Thai places in nova but I would say maybe in the top 10. I like that they cut the noodles into smaller pieces and the serving size was huge. It was enough for two meals or three if you were eating a smaller amount! I would definitely get takeout from here and try other things.

Drea J.

Yelp
Let me preface this by saying that I love Sushi & Thai food & they're probably my two favorite cuisines to eat... We live nearby & have been anxiously awaiting Khao Hom's opening since like January -- was worried they wouldn't end up opening bc of COVID. (But super glad they did!) We've ordered carry out twice & have been pleased both times. Food was piping hot when we picked it up & we did not think it was bland AT ALL. - Pad Thai with Chicken - Drunken Noodles with Chicken - Pad See Ew with Chicken - Nathan's Fried Chicken (Kid's Meal) - Spider Roll - Spicy Tuna Roll - Mexican Roll - Spicy Yellowtail Roll - Shrimp Tempura Roll Pros: good food, large quantities, $17.99 three roll sushi combo is awesome & other sushi prices seem fair, Thai & Sushi both available, super easy to order online. Cons: Pretty generic menu. Was hoping they'd have Khao Soi/Crispy Eggplant/Pad Thai Woonsen on the menu. But it's pretty generic/the same as the other Thai restaurants in the vicinity. Prices for the Thai dishes were also a bit high (you do get a lot of food) considering there is also a pretty high markup for the various proteins. We typically order Shrimp Pad Thai & Beef Drunken Noodles, but w/the giant order of sushi I didn't want to pay for the extra protein markup... I definitely still have my favorite dishes at Panisa, Bangkok Golden, Fortune House & Sushi Prince... But we really enjoyed Khao Hom & being able to get Thai & sushi is awesome. We'll definitely be returning.

Gary H.

Yelp
Simply the best Thai in the Burke area. The portions are large and the flavors and quality are exceptional. The service has always been outstanding and the owners treat regulators like family. Check out the menu, it's extensive. The sushi is also really good. I recommend ordering ahead as the sushi chef is really popular.
