"This family-owned Thai and Laotian restaurant in West Omaha has become a popular takeout gem for its mix of curries, noodles, and pho. Pad thai and pad see ew are staples, as is the pho with brisket, meatballs, and rare beef. The team makes the crab rangoon appetizer by hand, spiking the cream cheese filling with your choice of fresh pineapple or mango for a fruity finish." - Sarah Baker Hansen

Khao Kiao is an absolute must-try for Thai food lovers! We ordered the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Fresh Spring Rolls, and everything was fantastic. The Drunken Noodles, made fresh in-house, were a standout—so flavorful and perfectly spiced. The Pad Thai was well-balanced and delicious, and the Fresh Spring Rolls were light, crisp, and packed with freshness. The staff was warm and attentive, and the cozy atmosphere made the experience even better. If you’re craving authentic Thai cuisine, Khao Kiao is the place to go. Highly recommend!

We are out of town from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We were impressed with the food and great customer service! Definitely will be back again. Thank you for everything you do!

This restaurant has quickly become one of my absolute favorites! I get the Pad See Ew just about every time I come and it's always so delicious. I crave it at least once a week if not more. They make their own noodles here and they are absolutely incredible. You truly can't even begin to compare their noodles to premade ones, they're in a completely different league. I've had the opportunity to speak to the chef a few times while dining in and she is so kind! If you want great Thai food in Omaha this is your place hands down.

Google
I had passed this little restaurant many times, dodging rush hour I decided to spend my time trying out a few staple I love. I had the fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce, a simpler dish but fresch and crisp as it should be. I followed up with a classic pho dish. It was delicious, and yes as most know it was because the broth, flavorful and zesty with a options regarding the spice level which makes it convenient for all tastes. I only dropped a star about the atmosphere because it was a smaller dining area but never the less comfortable. Get there and try some curry too

Google
Best Thai restaurant in Omaha and Lincoln! We’ve been looking for a good thai restaurant for a couple of years and finally we found the one! Their Pad Thai is amazing! Can’t wait to go back and try other items on the menu. Plenty of parking available in front of the restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is cozy. Absolutely recommend!

Google
Ordered to go. I got an order of pad thai with tofu and some fresh rolls. You have a choice on spice level, 1-10. I got 5. I like a good bit of spice and usually if I haven’t eaten at a location yet I always try it with a five so I know I can go up or down and five was about perfect for me. The people working were very pleasant. Only thing I would prefer is more herbs in my fresh rolls. It did come with a peanut sauce, which was nice, but I prefer a sweet chili dipping sauce. I look forward to trying more items in the future.

Google
For me this Thai restaurant is currently the best in the town. Full of flavors, very authentic and tasteful. Pick up is one of the best I have seen, they come upto your car along with the device and one can just swipe their card from sitting in the car. I do feel the portions are less compared to other Thai places in the town and that needs to be improved. I am a big fan of their Fried rice (any type) and can't stay away from eating almost every week.

Google
This is a husband and wife restaurant that puts love into their food. Everything is made from scratch and even the sauces. It’s the best beef drunken noodles around. My step daughter loved the yellow curry and we also love the pineapple fried rice with chicken. The pho is also amazing. They also hand make their Rangoon’s and our favorite is mango.

Charrise L.

Yelp
We love this place. It is super popular for carry out orders as well as dine in with only 8-9 tables. Creatures of habit, we ordered the Crispy Eggrolls and Yellow Curry with Chicken. We got adventurous and ordered Massaman Curry with Chicken. Like yellow curry but has peanuts, cinnamon and turmeric. Yummy. Ok, bye.

Debi B.

Yelp
I absolutely adore this restaurant! The food is so good and their drunken noodles are homemade, and they are like magical pillows of goodness! Probably the best drunken noodles I've ever had. I ordered the beef drunken noodles, level 5 spiciness and it was perfect. Everything that my friends got was wonderful and they raved about it. The chef came out and talked to us and she was the sweetest lady. She told us she makes the noodles homemade and they are gluten-free because her husband can't have gluten; so that is a BIG plus for me and I now can take my gluten-free friends and family here. The restaurant is small. I would recommend getting there as early as you can. I think it opens at 11. It fills up fast. Since this food is made homemade and with love, it might take a little bit longer, but it is well worth the wait! I can't wait to go back. I wish I had lots of money. I would eat here every day!!

Gabriel W.

Yelp
Worth the wait! They're a small family owned place but really busy with takeout because everything tastes great! The Peppered Steak Stir Fry was really good. So good that my 3 year old was eating it even at a 5 level spicy! He's never touched anything spicy before but he said he really liked the texture and taste of the sauce. We even tested if he like the beef in the pho better since it was mild but he kept asking for the spicy one. I got the Tom Yum and the taste was amazing! It could have used a few more veggies but I filled the space with the generous amount of rice they give you. My wife had the green curry and said the flavor was really good, too! When we got done they were getting ready to close and the sweet lady came out of the kitchen and wanted to say hi to the boys and let us know her other specialties. We'll have to try the Drunken Noodles next time because she said they make their own noodles in-house! Not much to the restaurant itself when you walk in and a few booths and tables. There was a little wait but the guy serving us was really nice and made sure we had what we needed to keep our two toddlers busy. The only recommendation to the owner is that they gut their bathrooms and start over. I don't know what it is about Asian restaurants but the bathrooms smell like they've never been cleaned... It didn't hurt my opinion though. Most bathrooms in Omaha could use some work!

Jennifer G.

Yelp
I don't even know where to start. I found this place on a Yelp review and I have been dreaming about this place to come back. I got the fresh spring rolls (the peanut sauce is amazing!!!) and the drunken noodles. The food is amazing, completely authentic. The noodles are homemade. The owner of the store told me that they invested in equipment to make their own noodles. The food is fresh, cooked perfectly. It's such a wonderful little place, although not a lot of space, this is the place to be. It is the best place to come for Thai food. Thank you for such amazing food and service.

Berit M.

Yelp
Um I love this place. And it's not a close drive for me so it really is love. I've been to Phuket and this place is legit!!! I usually just do take out so can't comment on service but I will def be back. I got the Thai Basil Chix and Pad Ka Pao with chicken (don't forget the fried egg!) both at 4/10 spice. It was just the right amount of spice for me (would like to meet someone who can handle 10!!) They were both soooo delicious. I ate way too much, but it was worth it. I also got dumplings which weren't my fave - they were fried and I thought they would be steamed but I may have ordered wrong. Bottom line - this is my fave Thai place in Omaha.

Patrick V.

Yelp
I met with some friends I hadn't seen since I moved out of Omaha in '97 and one of them found this little Thai place that was open on a Sunday. Such a great find! Clearly marked vegan dishes on the menu and they could even make the Pad Thai vegan for me. I like some heat to my food and the level 7 was definitely hot! Highly recommend for Thai food in Omaha!

Arun M.

Yelp
Had been here couple of times dining in and to go. Positive things are food quality and taste. They have maintained standard for some time and worth ordering here. Now with negative experiences, service is very slow, for order to go i had to order atleast 3 hrs in advance. Even dine in took almost 1 hrs from time ordered and receiving the food. Most of the time they are closed for renovations and changes. Hopefully they start quick service and having openings most of the time.

Nancy E.

Yelp
Some of the best Thai food I've had in Omaha! The drunken noodles were so good and was a great portion for one person. The pho had a great broth but unfortunately the restaurant had ran out of meatballs that day. We tried mango sticky rice which was great and not too sweet. The owner came out and asked us how we liked our food. She was super sweet and let us know she was making a fresh batch of meatballs for the next day. We will be back!

Kellie S.

Yelp
My mom and I were in this area of town and in need of dinner. This showed up on my search and did not disappoint! We were sat by the door, so being a jacket in the cooler months! Wait staff was very friendly. We had to wait a while for our food, but it was worth it. The pad thai and drunken noodles were delicious! The thai iced tea was also a hit. I'll be coming back to this place for sure!

Shar D.

Yelp
Delicious Thai food! Nice service and traditional looking interior. Best Thai restaurant we've found.

Chad G.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! Never heard about it and the family was craving Thai last night. We put in an order for pick up and it was great! We had a chicken/steak pad thai, chicken red curry, chicken massaman curry, chicken fried rice, and crispy egg rolls with peanut sauce. All of them were AMAZING!!! Portions gave us two meals worth easy. Happy and welcoming staff and the speed of the order was 20 mins and food was hot and fresh! Inside seemed to be more of limited seating, so get there early for a spot. They could have more room, but I was only in to grab the food and leave. Will return again!

Brian R.

Yelp
The Nam Tok is great! We've always had a great experience and amazing food. We usually do pickup and it's easy!

Roselle A.

Yelp
Called in an order for Pad Thai and I think it is one of the best pad thai in the area. Would definitely go again, but if you want take out definitely call ahead!

Dan T.

Yelp
I've finally found a place that makes drunken noodles with the wide noodles! To make it even better, it's delicious!! This is my new favorite place in Omaha for Drunken noodles, I almost ordered another to bring home. The staff, everyone we spoke to was incredibly kind and helpful. They answered questions and even told us that the menu was all gluten free. The eggrolls were great and so were the mango and pineapple rangoons! We didn't have a single meal we didn't like. I'm actually really excited to come back and try the pho. I've heard great things about this place and it definitely did not disappoint. Looking forward to our next visit!

Lisa C.

Yelp
Delicious food and the service was terrific. The restaurant was busy with take out orders and many repeat customers which was a very good sign and well worth the wait! The pad thai, massaman curry and the spring rolls & peanut sauce were off the chart excellent!

Doug S.

Yelp
Not sure what it is but I just had the Beef Fried Rice and it's the best fried rice I have ever ate. The flavor is remarkable. Will be my new go to spot for fried rice. Wow.

Linda N.

Yelp
This place is now my new favorite Thai place in town. It's a casual spot and great for take out. The menu is smaller than other Thai places in town but it does not take away from how good the food was. I got the drunken noodles, And let me tell you how amazing this dish was. The noodles were piping hot on arrival and were the softest, pillowiest house made noodles that I have ever had. You just can't compare these noodles to the manufactured ones. I think about these noodles from time to time. They are just so good. The flavors were all classic and delicious. The pad see ew was also just as good. The place filled up, and it was pretty busy by 6:30pm. I would like to come back and try every item on the menu because the drunken noodles blew my mind.

Mia E.

Yelp
The food is very good, my favorite pho place so far. Definitely try this place out you won't regret it

Ethan S.

Yelp
Me and my friends have been here many many many times. So much so that we're there almost once a week!! They are absolutely the BEST thai food in all of Nebraska. Their Beef Pho is top notch. And the best part? They're super friendly! I got to meet each of the front house staff. Am is a wonderful cook and a wonderful person to talk to.

Andrea B.

Yelp
I really REALLY wanted to love this place and to add to this restaurant's many glowing reviews. I remember seeing them on the local CBS program when they first opened and their owners look so genuine and lovely. But I can't give them a glowing review tonight, unfortunately. I ordered their mango rangoon and they were delicious. They were plumped full of cream cheese and mango and they disappeared rather quickly. Crunchy and savory. Yum! Next, I tried their fresh spring rolls with crab and while the rolls were large and full of delicious veggies, the crab was a little off-putting with the peanut sauce. However, I could BATHE in that peanut sauce. It's addicting and incredibly flavorful. I would just advise anyone against ordering it with crab. Chicken or tofu would pair better with that peanut sauce but I would absolutely order these again. However, I'm honestly BAFFLED how people can comment that their pad thai is good. First off, I ordered it without onions and there were onions ALL over it. After picking them all off, I mixed in the bean sprouts bc for some reason, they were just sort of lumped on the side instead of being mixed in with the rest of the dish. I took one bite and had to spit it out. The flavors were AWFUL! Like Ross in Friends once said, "It tastes like feet!" Ugh. Maybe I caught them on an off night? Maybe I should have ordered something else but oh man. I don't know how anyone with taste buds would like the pad thai. Yuck!!! Lastly, their mango sticky rice revived my taste bugs and ended the meal on a high note. It was phenomenal. But it was MUCH smaller than the other photos I had seen of other patrons who have ordered the same dish. I gotta admit that I'm pretty disappointed in this meal. I'm sure it was an off night or something. If I decide to try them again, I will definitely be ordering a different entree and maybe dining in instead of carrying out.

Adam G.

Yelp
We ordered take out tonight. Told it would be ready on 70 minutes at 6:00. Got to the restaurant at 7:10. Told it would be another hour. It is 8:35 now. Still no food. They messed up my order last titime I ordered from this restaurant. Fool me once, right? Food is good, but not that good. Thai Pepper next time. Never again will I order from this place.

Matt A.

Yelp
Horrible customer service! Waited for 2 hours to get our food, order wasn't accurate.

Erich K.

Yelp
what an awesome place to eat. Family owned and family ran. Hard working and talented family making the best of Pho and thai food. This place is a vegan/vegetarian mecca as well!. Do not miss an opportunity to eat here.

Kenneth H.

Yelp
Drunken noodles are homemade they use real seafood big portions. I will be back. Cozy atmosphere

Justin V.

Yelp
The menu is marked gluten free. However, it is absolutely not! Two of my family members who have celiac disease both fell ill within a couple of hours eating here. No one else was affected. Do not eat here if you need gluten free food!

A W.

Yelp
Authentic Thai food. Pad Se Ew, Pad Thai and Kao Prao are great. Phenomenal Thai Ice Tea and Mango Sticky Rice too. Highly recommend.

Aaron W.

Yelp
Tasty Thai dishes! We enjoyed the Spring Rolls, the Red Curry (chicken), and the Shrimp Pad Thai! This time, we only went for 3 out of 10 on the heat meter! Next time, I'm thinking about jumping up to 5!

Brent B.

Yelp
I have had a single favorite Thai place in Omaha pretty much since I arrived in 2014. Khao Niao has taken the top spot. We went for my wife's birthday lunch and ordered the Pad Thai, Lad Na, & Pad Kee Mao (all with chicken). Each was exceptional but the most notable reason for this has to be that they make their noodles in house from scratch, which just shows the attention to quality they have for their dishes as a whole. The owners were also very personable and informative about the menu. None of our party had ever had Lad Na before and they really sold us on it and it did not disappoint! The only way to describe it is to compare it to Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) but in a light but perfectly spiced gravy. Will be back multiple times.

Sujan G.

Yelp
Small family owned restaurant. They have on of the best service and the food was delicious. We ordered green curry, pad thai, pho and we had to have their sticky rice with mango delicious. We didn't care much for pho there are other restaurants serving better pho but thai dish was on point. Would highly recommend to try at this restaurant.

Natalie H.

Yelp
Our new favorite Thai place. Yellow curry is amazing. Fruit Rangoons were pretty good.

Cam V.

Yelp
This might very well be my new favorite Thai place in Omaha. Part of the challenge is they opened just a few month before the pandemic and only did takeout for the longest time. It's about 15 min from our house and at the time, Sea Thai was much closer (and open). With Sea Thai closing we needed another West Omaha place. (Salween is really good, but I've found the Eagle Run location to not be as tasty as the Saddlecreek one- I digress) Enter Khao Niao. It has been VERY high on my list of places to eat and now I can proudly say it's been checked off. We started off with the fruit Rangoon's which is unusual considering everyone does crab Rangoon's, but these were the perfect amount of flavor and crisp. Honestly better than I anticipated for a "fruity" dish to start. I was between the Pad Se-ew and Pad Thai but ultimately chose the former because more veggies in my diet. Oh my goodness! It looked so beautiful on the plate (see below) and they used a thick and wide noodle unlike most places. Generous on the meat portions and even the noodles had fry/char marks on them. The flavor was unbelievable and the noodles were a chewy, yet firm texture that held it together. We finished off the meal with the mango sticky rice- the only dessert they offered. It's normally on a plate with the mangoes beside it, however, it was all encased in an oval bowl drizzled with a rice and mango cream on top and presented beautifully. The surprising thing about this dish is that there was a hint of saltiness so a very nice counter to the sweetness. The rice was the perfect amount of stickiness and we truly enjoyed it. Can't wait to come back again and bring the fam- definitely a new favorite for me!

Maci W.

Yelp
Great service and amazing food! I had the drunken noodles and my husband had pho. Really delicious meal!

Dennis M.

Yelp
The best Thai Lao food in Omaha! Had a nice talk with one of the owners and she told me all the sauces and noodles are made in house. The color of the Pad Thai w chicken and tofu was perfect. The taste was amazing. Great size portions for lunch as well. Last time I had the Pad See Ew, the star of the dish was those homemade noodles. I crave them and their texture. Makes a big difference when they make them. The interior is like walking into their house, very comfortable and clean. This is a true gem and we are so lucky to have this fine family serving us dishes they make in their own home kitchen! Can't wait to go back!

Angela C.

Yelp
Love this restaurant. Everything is made homemade and you can tell by the taste. This is a mom and pop store and they take pride in their food.

Chris H.

Yelp
Food is always hot and fresh! Service excellent! We usually carry out. Love this place!

John S.

Yelp
This place is great. Excellent eating experience.. from walking in the door and being greeted by employee, seated and drink order taken, was maybe 5 minutes. Meal was served hot and excellent taste. It is hard to find a restaurant like this in Omaha.

A D.

Yelp
Pork Laap was fantastic. Level 1-15. I ordered lvl 13. Perfect spice. Kids ordered Pho. Very happy. Wife got Tom Kha. Delicious. I would've taken pictures but we dove right in. No leftovers.

Christine H.

Yelp
After hearing many positive reviews, we finally made a visit to Khao Niao. We sampled a bit of everything - pad thai, spring rolls, Pho, fried rice and so on. One of my favorites was the fruit rangoon - I recommend adding to your order for something sweet. We ordered takeout, and the process was a breeze, they even bring the food to your car. Overall, I was really happy with the meal and would come back, but the pad thai had a bit too much sweetness for my liking so I would opt for something different next time. Staff was very friendly and food was still hot and fresh when we got home!

Jessica H.

Yelp
Great find!!! I'm not kidding when I say everything we ate was spot on! Pad Thai was perfection, Drunken noodles were so delicious, Pho was on point, Pad See Ew was tasty, spring rolls were top notch, Fruit Rangoon were a delicious surprise, yummy sticky rice and that peanut sauce was literally the BEST! Great service! We had the honor of meeting the chef/owner and she was delightful and so passionate about the food she was preparing. I only wish we lived closer this would be a place I would frequent. Give it a try! You won't be disappointed.

Kerbie D.

Yelp
In town for the night. Wanted to try lunch. There's a sign on the door saying closed for the next week. Heads up.

Travis H.

Yelp
Best Thai in the area. Drunken Noodles are my favorite but the Pad Thai is great too. This is my go-to Thai place and they are consistent and never disappoint.

J C.

Yelp
Outstanding food. Their drunken noodles always have fresh ingredients, great spice level, and a perfect pan-sear on all of it. Seriously the best Thai food I've had anywhere.

Thomas S.

Yelp
Red curry with tofu is our jam and it's bomb a$$ good. Drunken Noodle are fire as well.

ThanhandHue T.

Yelp
Foods always bad. I gave them a few chances, as my friends thought it was closer to our place that we have to be. Today the meat balls in my pho were rotten. The owner went and got the different meatballs. No lady, the spoiled meat already soaked into the Pho broth. Never come back again. Definitely NOT recommend.

Roslyn M.

Yelp
Great food worth the trip! Take out is efficient and service friendly! Order ahead for speedy takeout.

Tracy L.

Yelp
The food was amazing. The pad thai was one of the best we've ever had, and the pho was outstanding. The owner/chef came out to check on us toward the end of our meal. Extremely humble and grateful that we chose her restaurant for dinner. We love this place and will be back again.

KN R.

Yelp
Rude greeter, cashier. Seemed they didn't care and told me it was an hour and 45min wait? Yet an online order had 30mins wait.

Sondra Z.

Yelp
Glad we found this new place! Excellent food. The restaurant name translates to sticky rice and rhymes with "Cow Meow". We started with the thai iced coffee which was rich, strong, and creamy. The fried shrimp were a simple appetizer done well and the sweet sauce was a nice touch. I'm a wimp so went with mild on my pad Thai. My husband got the drunken noodles, hot. They made his nose run but was worth it! We finished with the mango sticky rice and would recommend everyone do the same. Not an off note the entire meal. It is a bit hard to find, but look for the neon in the window next to Anytime Fitness and you'll be there.

Tim S.

Yelp
Best Thai food in Nebraska, no question. I always go with the pork pad Thai, and I am never disappointed.
