I came here for the first time today with my sisters (not my sisters first time) and husband and man when I say so good I mean it. It’s hard to really find a good soul food spot that hits home. But I’m so glad my sister introduced me to this place because everything was a 10/10. I had the fried chicken, yams, collards, mac and it was definitely worth us traveling an hour! I don’t know why this is showing a 4.1 rating it should be 5 star spot. If you’re looking for a good soul spot and probably was hesitant to try…DON’T BE HESITANT TRY IT LOL. Also I don’t know the name of the man we were speaking to today but thankful you for making us feel welcomed!!

Found this spot by a google search of the best soul food in the Springfield area and found this gem! Drove an hour just to try it, and they did NOT disappoint! Everything was literally so good, the catfish is battered and fried to perfection and so are the wings! The Mac and cheese and yams were to die for! This is a spot that is now on my rotation and I will drive the hour happily! Thank you guys for the delicious meal that was clearly prepared with love 🤍 May your business prosper always!

I had order placed an order over the phone for a medium size fried chicken meal. When I came home to eat I didn’t receive any rice my yams weren’t cooked and my mac n cheese wasn’t baked

Ordered delivery. I have had macaroni and cheese, meat loaf is my favorite. I've had macaroni salad and potato salad. I recently start getting the fish. It's so good 💓 But I didn't come here to talk about the not homemade cornbread. I came here to talk about the black eye peas. I always get the greens. No matter how salty. Nothing will stop me. But these black eye peas are a whole new level of delicious. Like I can wake up in the middle of the night like a raccoon In a dumpster looking for these specifically. I am in love. My plate today is fish, greens, rice and beans. I didn't take a pic of the corn bread. Want to punch the cornbread. But anyway, this is so good I am in heaven.

First time at this joint. New to area from NY found this spot on Google. Nice on the inside and I like the lil window order spot reminds me of back home lol Ole Boy who took our order was a cool dude pretty sure he was the owner. I got the fried pork chops Mac, potato salad and greens everything was on point. Only thing is im not to much into the little grain white rice would rather have the long grain white rice but gravy was good wid it. My dude got the fried fish, yams, Mac and potato salad. Portions are big you gonna be mad full. Overall good food, good vibe and good customer Service. Deff going back

Khi & Eli Soul Food is AMAZING! I ordered takeout and wow—everything was packed with flavor and tasted like a home-cooked meal made with love. The food was hot, fresh, and beyond satisfying, with generous portions that did not disappoint. This is real, authentic soul food that hits the spot and leaves you smiling after every bite. Hands down one of the best takeout soul food experiences I’ve had. I’ll definitely be back again and again—highly recommend!

In my experience, they don't have enough staff to keep up with how busy they were. It's a nice place, but my best friend was upset that they messed up and didn't say they were out of rice when we ordered. We spent about $60 for 2 meals, drinks, and desserts. There were other customers getting upset they messed up on their orders as well. The food was pretty good. The guy who took our order was very nice, but it seems the staff in the back was more focused on watching the game than making the orders correctly. It seemed like they were a restaurant that just opened, but the guy who took my order said they've been open for a long time. I can't remember the number of years he said. If that's true, then I definitely expected better service. The food is good, just don't be surprised if your order is wrong or they are out of things fast. We went on a Sunday around 3 pm.

This place has been a staple in Springfield for awhile. I ordered a large fried chicken dinner with potato salad, collard greens and yams. The food was delivered hot and fresh. I'm glad I gave them another try.

This place has been a staple for soul food In our area. Their food has always been amazing. I ordered a fish dinner and everything was cooked to perfection and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to eat some good ole soul food.

Whenever I am in Springfield my go to food spot is Khi and Eli's. I loved Sunday dinner at my nana's house and that's what khi and Eli's gives. My favorite plate is friend chicken wings, mac and cheese w/ collard greens. The food quality and taste is always consistent and never disappoints. The staff are friendly and the ambiance is great! I ordered the large meal with fried chicken l, potato salad, and collard greens. Everything was so good and seasoned well. The chicken was crunchy and yummy. The collard greens were seasoned good. The potato salad is more on the sweet side but still good. All in all I would definitely recommend and enjoyed my food.

This was my first time in here, the food looks good from the previous reviews and I been looking for good food to have and this spot was it. Give them a try. And the staff is awesome

Very inconsistent! Sometimes the food is great, other times it's mid at best. It's clear they have different chefs and they are not created equal. Today's meal included the under seasoned mashed sweet potatoes and the inferior mac and cheese that can be a little light on cheese. The prices have gone up so it makes it less appealing to gamble with my plate. Today my cornbread that I paid extra for is hard, dry, and quite stale. Very disappointing to pay $3.50 for something I wouldn't feed my dog. This food used to be consistently delicious so it's unfortunate that the chefs are clearly not all of the same caliber. Today I gambled and lost. Perhaps next time will be better. I'd order a lot more frequently if the food was consistent. But it's always a sigh when I open the food and see the mashed sweet potatoes. I already know. Selling bricks of dry cornbread is just diabolical. This is a new low

I just had one of the best meals since moving to the Springfield area - and I have had some damn good food in that time. Yep, it was that good. We have been trying to go to Khi and Eli's for a few years, but for various reasons (including their sometimes variable hours) hadn't ever quite made it. Finally, I found just the right timing and put in an order for two Large meals, both with cornbread on the side. We ordered one with catfish, collard greens and corn, and the other with fried chicken, green beans and candied yams. When I went to pick it up the first thing I noticed was the weight! Yes, we ordered the large, but still I was surprised. The fried chicken was superb - just right flavors, texture, juiciness. I am not usually into sweet foods, but the candied yams I could eat daily. The collard greens were my next favorite, but literally every part of the meal was good. The proteins sat on rice and gravy carefully separated so your food doesn't get soggy, so be sure to dig down to that. A few things to note: 1. The large meals are currently $16 but well worth it. The medium and small are presumably a few dollars less (small was previously $9.50 but maybe in the $11 range now??), but since they have just changed the prices (as everyone has had to do), I don't have an updated menu handy. 2. A large is two full meals for anyone I know. 3. Large and medium meals have two sides, small meal has one (unless that has changed but seems to be on all versions of the menu) 4. Cornbread does cost extra but again is large and worth it. 5. As many people have noted, the posted hours are not always the true hours, so call ahead or have a back up plan. The focus here is the food, so chill on the hours. Everyone I spoke with was extremely helpful. 6. They didn't have ribs at the Springfield location. I see from another comment that might be a regular thing, so hopefully the new menu will clarify. The chicken and catfish were excellent though! 7. I cannot recommend the candied yams enough. Or the chicken. All so good. 8. Be careful reheating your leftover candied yams. If you overdo the reheating, they will taste too sweet, rather than the original perfection. Sadly I made that error on my second set of leftovers.

Food was horrible , only thing that was good was the fried chicken and the yams were decent . Mac n cheese need to be TAKEN OFF THE MENU . It taste like canned chefboyardee mac . Gave me rice and gravy i never asked for which was also bland and the rice was parboiled....... For a $20 plate....... What a waste . Service was great though.

What I had made up for a sushami order from another spot & portions oh yeah good parts no question. I selected a fried pork chops with corn, rice (told them to hold the gravy) & did a side of cornbread (photos coming & when you see them you're going to see why) plus selected BBQ wings (10 piece) & pretty soon you'll get it.

Great flavor great portions reasonable price friendly staff and great ambience... has a great cook myself I highly recommend this place you won't be disappointed

The food was seasoned well and because my catfish was cooked to order it took about 10 to 15 minutes to get my food collards very flavorful and tender meal comes with rice and gravy the food get's a 5 that mess was good!!! Food was delicious, but don't expect to get the sides you want in the last two hours of the day. I had no problem changing my sides, but my entree was not what I ordered. So basically my entire meal was not what I ordered. At least in my opinion, 5 for Food but 3 for service.

Great soul food in Springfield!! I ordered the fried pork chop with fries, Mac and cheese and it came with rice and gravy. I've never had a fried pork chop that was actually breaded but this one was sooo good. The breading had a great taste and the pork chop wasn't dry. I also got an order of wings - half hot half lemon pepper. I really enjoyed the lemon pepper, the seasoning was in the breading which made it extremely tasty. I could've done without the hot wings, they tasted as if they used basic red hot on them. My boyfriend got the regular wings with yams and Mac and it was also good. I will definitely return here for another meal!

My coworker and I stopped in after work yesterday and decided to go with the ribs and fried chicken dinners. You place your order at the counter and then you seat yourself. No frills yet comfortable dining room. The very friendly man who took our order seemed to be the owner. He did mention that they fry the chicken to order and that it takes a little time. We were both very happy with our meals. My coworker had the ribs which were delicious and definitely what I will order next time. The medium order contained two huge delicious ribs. The mac and cheese was everything you'd expect of homemade Southern style mac and cheese, creamy and delicious. The potato salad we found just a pinch heavy on the mustard, but that was our personal opinion. However, the real show stopper was the cornbread. Cornbread so delicious that it felt like you were eating cake with your meal. Cornbread so delicious it will change everything you ever thought knew about cornbread. :) Cornbread so yummy that it seems we ate it before even taking a picture. If you are in a hurry than you should probably call in your meal ahead. There is a very long wait time. So the 4 stars is strictly on food. But we felt it was worth the wait and we will definitely return. The owner was so friendly too and welcoming. This is the kind of local business you love to support. They just opened here in March at this new location near Bueno y Sano. A few people walked in to pick up menus. I wish them tons of success.

Was looking for soul food on a Saturday night & found this place. Drove in from CT to check it out. Such a good spot! Chicken wings were crunchy but juicy, Mac had a great cheese pull, and probably the best corn bread I've had. They gave great portions which gave me left overs. Probably took 5 minutes to prepare my order and it was all hot by the time I got home. Definitely coming back!

Unfortunately had to give them a bad review. 1) waited 30 min when they said 15min 2) Nothing wrong with long grain rice but it was hard 3) As soon as I asked for a refund they told me that they were waiting for the Mac and cheese. When I said no I want my money they said it's coming out. Then someone came out to apologize. 4) Employees don't have any customer service training. I wouldn't of been upset if they would said something the 2 times I entered after the 15 minutes.

I was looking for a place in Springfield that served soul food and happen to find this place . The ribs and Mac & Cheese was so good .I recommend them to my co- worker who was also looking for a soul food place in Springfield .

The food is decent. I've visited this spot 3 times now. I've attempted many times but they seem to not be open when they're supposed to be open. Today I arrived at 2pm to see a paper on the door saying they'll open at 3pm, so I returned at 3:05pm for the door to be locked with the paper removed so I call and was told 3:30pm... now I wait in the parking lot till 3:30pm. I go in and order, I wait for over 40 minutes in that time I wait I seen multiple orders going out while I wait. Finally got my order and went home and the orders were messed up. Here's what I ordered and what I received in parenthesis. LG. Baked Chicken w/ Black Eyed Peas and Yams (Correct) LG. Fried Chicken w/Mac &Cheese and Mash (Chicken Wings w/ Mac & Cheese and Mash) and MD Baked Chicken w/ Black Eyed Peas and Yams (MD Baked Chicken w/ Mac & Cheese and Black Eyed Peas) Spending more than $40 and not getting the right order is unacceptable. I tried calling numerous times and kept getting an answering machine. It's unfortunate but I think I'm done with this place after my numerous attempts at a closed store and mistakes not made right.

I came to this restaurant yesterday, the food was awesome. I ordered two baked chicken dinners one with baked macaroni the other with rice and gravy. The baked chicken was tender and well seasoned. I don't eat many peoples potato salad but It was delicious. Not to mention the collards were the best I have ever tasted . Can't wait to come back to Springfield. 4.5

This is strictly a take-out spot I guess due to COVID. I looked up reviews of Fried Catfish while I was visiting the area and this place was on the list. I was unsure if I wanted to try at first but figured it could not be that bad. So we placed an order for pick up through grubhub and I waited a little before coming to pick up just incase it was crowded. I ordered a medium as I thought a small would give me one piece of fish and the medium would be two. Welp I was wrong all together. I ordered a medium and was disappointed to find one piece of fish, the mac and cheese and yams were tasty but the yams were extremely too sweet for my liking. The rice and gravy they could have saved and given me an extra piece of fish. If ever in the area again we are open to trying again.

This is the best soul food. The Smothered Pork Chops were tender, delicious, and the gravy was amazing. The Catfish was firm, fresh, and spiced perfectly. The Collard Greens are made with smoked turkey, which I have never had before in collards, but I will be using in my own greens from now on. It added a nice delicate savory flavor rather than the overpowering richness that ham hocks can sometimes bring. The black eyed peas were firm and tasty. I cannot wait to go back for the fried chicken, which is fried to order. In addition, the owners were super nice, and, deservedly, very proud of their food. Superb service, excellent food. My hat is off to you Khi&Eli's. I can't wait to see you again.

EXTREMELY RUDE counter service! Will not be back to support this establishment. I've eaten here once before and enjoyed the food. Stopped back in briefly to grab a bite and was greeted witb extreme rudeness from the female at the counter. She was so rude I decided to grab lunch elsewhere. Won't be back.

Used to eat at the other location before they moved here. I was happy to find this place again. The fried wings with mac and cheese and collards taste great. I also enjoy their green beans. The music playing is really nice and the customer service is on point. Parking is not an issue, you should check this place out for yourself.

Food seems pretty inconsistent. I had looked at pics to get an idea of things and what we got seemed pretty different. Candied yams were too sweet. Cornbread was a little dry but good. Collards were tasty as was the chicken. I was a bit sad because I was most excited for Mac and cheese and when my food arrived there wasn't any. Disappointed they didn't call to say that they were out of it and to ask my alternative selection, but I'm sure they were busy on a weekend. When I did call they were courteous and offered a small meal next time I am in. The staff member I spoke to over the phone was polite and understanding.

Catfish, chicken wings and fried chicken dinner, all delish! I would order again and the sides we got listed in order of our favorite: yams (the best!), green beans, Mac and cheese, Fries (has to pop them in the air fryer but then we're great!) cornbread was also a treat!

Where do I start. They don't open in a timely manner, the site said 11am but was told 1pm when I arrived after 3:30pm the sign in the window said open at 4pm. They did not open until 5pm. Once they opened they said no large orders only small and medium. You had all day to prepare for this. They never have rib dinners. They tell you to go to Holyoke. Why? Because you're too lazy to cook them. Cornbread should be standard with the meal and not $2 extra. Staff should not have an attitude, it's your job if you want stay in business.

Delicious Soul Food! Ordered the large fried pork chop and fried chicken meals with two sides each. Chicken and chops had a delicious batter and were juicy. I was surprised the chicken was just wings, no thigh meat, which was disappointing but seems standard from the other reviews. Collards were tender but not mushy and nicely seasoned with a little spice, same with the green beans. Mac and cheese was just like my Mom makes. Traditional, not the more modern mac and cheeses you see out in New American restaurants nowadays. Rice and gravy was also good (much better than I expected) - similar mild spice that kicked it up a notch. They didn't have ribs available so am looking forward to trying that another day. Also reasonably priced, which is a plus! We ordered large meals to have leftovers. Portion didn't disappoint.

Tried to order take out and the girl was rude on the phone. Took the order then hung up without giving a total or time to pick it up or even saying goodbye. She sounded annoyed to have to pick up the phone. We cancelled the order. You can keep your food.

Very impressed. Tried a bunch of stuff, they were out of ribs (boo otherwise 5 stars). Fried chicken was very good, baked chicken was even better it was in a gravy, macaroni salad was good but had tuna in it and tuna fish is not my thing, potato salad was better than ok, collard greens were excellent, fried chicken sandwich was very good. Can't wait to go back. Tough location but great food!

I don't know why I keep (trying) to come here. They are rarely open when they say they are, the service is HORRIBLE and the food is only ok! This time I did Grubhub to avoid the rudeness and they messed up my order so I had to go there. Left work, get there for them to tell me they ran out of baked chicken. Mind you its only 2 and they allegedly are open to 8. I tell them I don't want fish and ask what do they have? Fried chicken...fine. Then I hear from the back, its not my fault. She should have answered her phone....Really?!? Then this woman comes to the front and proceeds to tell me she was going to cancel the order since I didn't answer my phone. To which I replied I normally don't carry my phone at work. Again, mind you, i have no missed calls from them and I tried calling them 4 to 5 times and it went directly to a full voicemail. She ended the lovely exchange by walking in the back and accusing me of having a stank attitude. That is the last time. Iwill never go there again. And if anyone ever ask me I'm going to give them a warning- the food is okay when you can get it; the service stinks!

The Mac and cheese was sour , the rice was instant rice and wasn't that great, the corn is brown and it seems like it's from a can and nothing here is homemade. The only thing good my friends said was good the Fried Chicken and the fried chicken is just wings. The corn bread tasted like it was refrigerated. Don't bother.

I was there a few days ago. This is the second time I go and they didn't have ribs again. Also didn't have cornbread. There was a radio or tv playing loudly from the back. Was not acknowledged right away. The baked chicken was a little dry this time. Didn't love the Mac & cheese or collard greens. I had referred a friend who found the place closed.

Best fried chicken EVER! Beats any major chain restaurant any time. Looking forward to trying the other dishes they have

I moved to the area and was excited to try them. They were out of catfish and meatloaf at 6:00pm on a Wednesday. This was fine because I wasn't going to order those anyways. I got a small meal which comes with one side and the rice. I also ordered a side of black eyed peas. The cashier could have helped me save some coins and told me it would be more economical to get a medium or large meal that comes with 2 sides plus the rice. I digress. The food was very tasty. As someone who cooks soul food myself I was prepared to be underwhelmed. Fortunately, I was very wrong. Everything (whiting, rice & gravy and Mac & cheese) was very well seasoned. Food was A+. Downside I did wait 10 min for takeout and they often seem to be closed prior to 8:00 pm when they state they close when I drive by.

Heard the food was great and went to check it out. We arrived around dinner time and a hand written sign on the door said they were closed for the day. We tried to go a week later and got there at 7:30pm (their sign on the door said closing at 9pm) but they locked the door before we could get in and said they're closed and to "go eat next door." I think this family just opens/closes when they feel like it, since other yelp ratings have said the same thing. Would have loved to try to food but they don't conduct themselves like a real business. Just call ahead before you waste your time.

Ate here last week and will never return. Fried chicken was 5 drummettes and the pork was inedible. Also, had to wait almost an hour for the food to be served.

Recently had food delivered thru GrubHub. Mac & Cheese, Black eyed peas, rice & gravy, yams, collard greens, & corn bread - all totally YUMMERS!

Best soul food around! Their yams are unlike any other. I've never gotten anything bad from them. My husband and I get the fried chicken, fried catfish, Mac n cheese, collard greens (I love that they're made with turkey and not pork just like I make em at home), and YAMS! It is excellent, well made and very tasty. I tried the baked chicken recently and it was beyond what I expected. Unique, tender and meat falling off the bone. It tasted like they cooked it slowly with love for 9 hours. If Khi & Eli's isn't open I don't eat soul food. Hubby and I have tried all the others around here and they can't even hold a candle. And did I mention we're very picky with high standards (were black from big black metropolis cities that have way more options so we know a thing or two about soul food). My mom even came to visit from Oakland and we got Khi & Eli's once and she wanted it several more times before she left. It's that good.
