I REALLY wanted to enjoy this place...but I didn't :(
I ordered a lentil soup for my my mom and the hummus for both of us as a starter. The lentil soup was very watery. My mom even asked "where are the lentils?" But the taste itself wasn't that bad, but definitely nothing to rave about, either.
The hummus was okay and I decided to order another starter, the grape leaves, and that ended up being the best thing I had that evening. Very tangy, sort of like the taste of an olive, and the rice inside held its texture, which was really pleasing to eat. However, please note that this may be an acquired taste kind of item because my mom did not like the grape leaves at all.
But the real let down of this place was the falafel. Usually my mom and I order different things so we can both try each other's dish, but we didn't feel like dropping $20+ per entree for their other selections, so we both opted for falafel dishes, the falafel sandwich and falafel with tabouleh for me.
When the falafel came out, it looked amazing. Nice and dark with a tahini dipping sauce in the middle. But after the first bite, my hopes of it being the best falafel ever were shattered because it was wayyyyyyyyyyy too salty. It was to the point where I couldn't really taste anything else. My mom said the same thing about hers, so I doubt it was just me that thought it was too salty. It was a real let down because we both were stuck eating something we weren't enjoying.
I can't speak for their meat/chicken dishes because as a pescatarian I don't eat that, but vegetarians should tread with caution at this place. Perhaps we went in on an off day and were unlucky, but I don't think I'll be going again to find out.
