The Kickin' Chicken

This is just for the food. This chain used to be my go to in college. The food was great for the money. Not anymore. I think this is becoming a chain issue. I've been to two Kickin' Chickens in the last year and they both disappointed. I don't know how you make a chicken bacon ranch sandwich bland, but somehow they did. Every bite was dry and disappointing. The bread probably had the most flavor. The cookie had way too much going on and wasn't bad, but pretzels, chocolate pieces and oat is just odd. The chips were fine and a good crunch. I wouldn't recommend Kickin' Chicken if you have working taste buds, and tastes unfortunately goes for them all.

I had an incredibly disappointing and upsetting experience at this restaurant. As a Black customer, I felt completely ignored and disrespected. My group was not acknowledged when we walked in, and it was clear we were not being treated the same as others around us. After a long wait with no service, they pulled someone from the back who clearly wasn’t a server to finally take our order, which felt like a last-minute attempt to check a box rather than provide hospitality. It was clear we were not welcome, and the lack of professionalism and blatant racial bias was deeply hurtful. No one should have to feel this way when simply trying to enjoy a meal. I hope this business seriously reflects on its staff training and culture.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience was too disappointing to ignore. My mom and I came in and sat at the bar, waiting patiently to be acknowledged. We were there for over 10 minutes with no greeting, no menu, no eye contact—nothing. The bartender/server completely ignored us, even after clearly seeing us. What made it worse? He noticed someone else (likely a regular or friend) who walked in after us and immediately offered him a beer, skipping right over us like we weren’t even there. It was unprofessional and flat-out rude. We ended up leaving, just like another group of women did when we arrived—saying, “We’re just going to leave,” which should’ve been our sign. If you value customer service or even basic human decency, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Do better.

Food was delicious. The sauce for the chicken and the fries were different and great. The staff was flexible because we sat down but needed to switch to take out quickly.

Mathew is awesome! Brought our food that we forgot to another location! He really goes above and beyond. Someone give this man a raise.

Food was really good. Lost track of time and had to take our food to go and the staff was great with the adjustment. The chicken sandwich was so good.

We love chicken restaurants and we found this place on Google while on vacation and decided to try it out - and super glad we did! We loved the meals we got, chicken nuggets, sweet potato fries, wings and bobby fries. Everything was great! Wish we had one of these at home!

This place had completely gone downhill. Did not know food could be so bland and terrible. I used to go to this place in college back in the day and it was great but I guess over time the portions and flavor went down. Sad about this

Met some friends here for happy hour on a Tuesday. They have an amazing selection of drinks and food for HH which was a pleasant surprise. Very affordable spirits and food options. We didn't get any food but the drinks were on point and the food is a must next time. The outdoor bar area is nice with the fans and it was a super chill spot. We definitely wanna come back for HH and try the food! Bartender was friendly and attentive.

Shrimp tacos were unequivocally bussin. Came with flor tortilla, shrimp, lettuce, and a sauce that took it to the next level. Have I had better shrimp tacos? Maybe, but these were a solid 8/10.

Ordered a burger which was really good! I tried them again and ordered the nuggets which I'm sorry were just pieces of breast breaded and chopped in little chunks. And I mean little! Fine for toddlers but not for an adult lunch.

Poor customer service! Landon at the bar saved them from two stars. Ordered multiple items, but didn't receive an item ordered. Probably because the girl who took our order didn't write anything down. She also got the order wrong on one of the items. Food sat at the end of the bar for a few minutes because our actual waitress wasn't paying attention. Landon ended up helping us and was pretty much helping everyone else at the bar as well. Other waitress was busy chatting with another employee and on her phone (photo evidence, but will not share). Even heard one bar customer say "can we get any service over here." Yet again, Landon came and saved the day ha. Staff are mostly friendly. Food was great! Ordered the chicken quesadilla which comes with tomato, lettuce, salsa and sour cream. Salsa is very good, not spicy at all. Chicken in the quesadilla was very well seasoned. Wednesday night trivia. Great bar or casual dinner atmosphere.

Kickin chicken. Catchy name. However I can't get past one item on the menu. Not chuckin related, but potato. It keeps me up at night. But it's not the potatoes that do, it's the 5+ others that ordered grilled fries. Is this allowed? Can it be done? This restaurant has sent me into a world of curiousness, pain, and hope that I've never felt before. 5 stars for the opportunity to learn of such potato opportunity, 0 stars for the whirlwind of confusion this menu has put me in. Best of luck

Thank you Kickin' Chicken for hosting the K-State Football Watch Parties this year! This is a great sports bar - love that it's open air and has seating outside and inside. And per the picture you can see they have a lot of TVs. It's newer and clean. There's parking right next to Kickin' Chicken - if it's full, you can park next to the park. We had the bobby fries, kickin' nachos, and chicken tenders. Really solid bar food. The only reason I didn't rate it a 5 is because I was rating this against all restaurants in Charleston. Definitely recommend Kickin' Chicken for fun with friends!

I have a service animal and they told me I wasn't allowed to be inside with the animal. Very rude and I was there last weekend and didn't have any issue. Make sure all your employees are on the same page. Lost a paying customer.

Service was not great. Not really anyone I. The restaurant but still took 20 minutes to be seen by staff after being sat. Traditional chicken sandwich was about 6" long, mostly bacon and crisply over fried breading, with very little actual meat. Wings were undercooked and planted to the bone. Not the place I remember from the early 2000 with the fried chicken piled high and lines for days.

Service is awful! Walked in and were greeted quickly and sat in a booth. No server or wait staff came over for 10 Minutes or so. Eventually got up and moved to the bar. Continued to be ignored by two slow female bartenders. New bartender came on shift and we were hopeful...but no he was bad as the other behind the bar. Witnessed a patron next to us get frustrated as well w lack of service. We finished our drink and politely paid the tab and agreed we will never go back. Hustle and take care of your customers kids!

What can I say? It's a chicken based sports bar... probably the most popular Panther bars in Charleston so if there's a game and you're not coming for that avoid it on those days. The chicken is decent though. Nothing special but what you'd expect. The well drinks are cheap and there are a few games to play. They have an outdoor bar which is dope. Worth checking out if you're into buffalo chicken things.

Kickin' Chicken on Romney Street in Charleston is a great place to go for delicious chicken, sandwiches, drinks, and more. I really like the location and atmosphere that they have created here. The food is well prepared and tastes good. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have everything that you need.

Wow oh wow. I work next door and we go almost every Wednesday for $6 nugget special. That deal simply can't be beat. The food is always hot and delicious and their sauces are soooo good!! If you're a ranch lover this one's the best ever. Unfortunately, they are extremely understaffed so sometimes it takes over an hour and a half to get a plate of nuggets but none the less, they are delicious and you can't beat it! Thanks Kicken!

Been here twice at lunch. Service was slow to acknowledge my presence both times. I also nearly slipped and fell on something greasy on the floor in front of the kitchen both times. No wet floor marker. And it's not my shoes. I wore different shoes last time. The food is alright but not worth the hassle. I probably won't be back. Luckily my lunch break isn't a hard set time limit.

Honestly jus go somewhere else... the chicken tenders were not really "fried" tenders.. they were like 1/2 grilled n didn't have good flavor... the pretzel we got was literally raw dough on the inside.. I will not be going back here ever

Good food, good time, and that new red-haired hostess made the entrance spectacular.
