Great local coffee shop in Arlington Center. They have great coffee, pastries, and an excellent lunch menu, and also provide GF options! Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, small parking lot, and accessible via bus or the bike path.

Their homemade french toast syrup was delicious, and their breakfast sandwich was a great way to start my weekend!

Google
Great local coffee shop. Parking can be tough, but there is a lot of seating inside and outside. They're across the street from an entrance to the Minuteman bike trail and have racks for bikes out front. Good baked goods and good coffee if you like a darker roast. The staff are friendly and efficient. Depending on how busy they are it can take a little bit to get food if you've ordered something off the menu. Definitely recommend a visit.

Google
I've been here a few times in the past and thought it was tasty which is why I'm skewing towards 4stars . Can't remember what I got previously but this time I got Beet and walnut salad with chicken - simple, fresh and tasty. Didn't love the chicken, it was a little rubbery and was under seasoned. But there's a good amount of it and it's not unpalatable, just not super good. Thai chicken soup - tasty basic soup, nothing super interesting but again fresh and tasty. Raspberry bar - rather underwhelming didn't have a strong raspberry taste nor did the bar part have any good texture or flavor. Generally very mid experience this time but I know I've enjoyed their sandwiches in the past.

Google
Super cute atmosphere! The food was mid and the latte was just ok.

Google
Great food, great vibes! Smoked salmon avo toast was perfect, and very cheap for what it is. Deluxe Egg Sandwich was hearty and tasty, and amazingly filling for $6. Mint limade was not what I was expecting (it seems to be tea based) but I was very pleasantly surprised by the flavor. Definitely coming back!

Google
The perfect neighborhood brunch place. Right beside the trail and spy pond. Has plenty of out door seating and a wide variety of muffins, scones, croissants. Their fresh veggie role with peanut sauce was particularly nice. The place is clean and staff is super friendly. The elderly gentleman overseeing the outdoor seating is so thoughtful. Receives guests, finds them good seats, cleans up the table if the guests forget to do so. They also have a nice play area for the kids. Will happily recommend this place.

Google
Some of the staff have been extremely rude during recent visits. It has become worse in the past year. I use to go there often for lunch and also ordered for office lunch meetings and the staff have often seem annoyed. Please do better. Remember you are in the service industry. Let’s get back to good service especially when people are spending a lot of money for not only the food but to receive courteous service and it would not hurt to smile and not act so entitled. Thank you

Google
Great little place in Arlington for breakfast and lunch sandwiches, soups, salads, tea, and coffee. Bike friendly, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a decent sized lot. Can get busy but service is usually quick. Food is pretty good. I got the Roasted chicken panini. Portion size was good for the price, but could have used a green such as spinach or arugula to help balance it out. They offer many of their sandwiches and salads with wrap options.

Yelp
Conveniently situated right along the Minutemen Trail, Kickstand is a great option if you need some fuel before/after/during your bike ride (they have bike stands right outside). We came on the early side of a rainy Sunday morning and was pleased to find only a small line - though the place started filling up quickly as soon as we finished. My cousin and I split the smoked salmon breakfast bagel and the Deluxe egg sandwich. - The salmon bagel: 7.5/10. Everything bagel was better than expected and I loved the top and bottom coverage, as well as the additions of tomato and cucumber. My only gripe was not a lot of smoked salmon but overall, not bad. - Deluxe egg sandwich: 10/10. Absolute must-order!! The egg was a frittata with spinach, mushrooms, and onions, and had this silky, tender, almost pudding texture. Loved the brioche bread they used, which held everything together well, and the addition of the thin sausage patty. Next time, I'd get this with bacon. The other pastries looked great. They provide an assortment of sauces to add to your food but I didn't see those until too late. Service was super friendly, and our food came out fast.

Yelp
Kickstand is great for a quick pickup order or to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. I like the roasted chicken sandwich and iced chai latte

Yelp
I adore this place and the availability with outdoor seating! The baked goods are amazing and the service was quick!

Yelp
A good place to stop in for coffee and a sandwich. When I went, most tables were taken, but there were a few empty ones. The staff is very friendly, and I felt that I could ask questions about the menu since I had never been there before. They also have lots of laminated menus at different spots in the café so you can take a look before ordering. The egg sandwich deluxe and probably the basic egg sandwich come on a brioche bun- they are premade egg patties in the shape of a muffin. I would prefer fresh eggs, but I'm sure with the volume that they do here it's hard to cook to order. The egg sandwich wasn't too expensive so I would get it again in a pinch, especially because it's the right portion for breakfast or lunch for me since I don't want to ruin my dinner.

Yelp
Perfect pit stop for breakfast right off the Minute Man, with typical cafe breakfast/lunch offerings. Friendly fast counter service. Coffee was good, breakfast sandwich was filling. The egg included is cooked in a souffle style, similar to Flour's egg sandwich, and the brioche bun was buttery and warm. I got a lunch sandwhich to go (chicken salad) and it was just OK. Lots of natural light inside with plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor.

Yelp
fantastic community gem. it is time to bump up the quality of pastries if possible! the man who works the patio is wonderful !

Yelp
As always, welcoming staff, delicious breakfast sandwich (splurge for the "deluxe" you'll thank me), and soothing vibe. Our little gem in Arlington Center!

Yelp
This was my first time at Kickstand and I found it while running an errand in Arlington. Breakfast was yummy. We had breakfast sandwiches and shared a chocolate chunk scone.

Yelp
I love this place and go all the time. Their order ahead works great. The chai latte and matcha latte are among my favorite. I love the owner or manager who is so friendly!

Yelp
I liked the lemonade I ordered. I liked the service and ambiance. Had a community feel. Close to the Minuteman Bike Path and Spy Pond.

Yelp
The service is a disaster. Waited this morning 50min for 2 simple coffees and 2 egg and cheese (small) sandwich (still wondering where the cheese was). This place changed and not in good. No gesture no apologies for this poor service. It is the last time.

Yelp
Awesome cafe for a nice coffee break or a pit stop while biking. They have a wide variety of things : coffee, tea, sandwiches, other lunch foods, pastries, muffins, cookies. They also have vegan items in each category that are well indicated. They have plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating is well shaded from trees and parasols. Would definitely recommend to others!!!
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
It's gotten very pricey of late; tea and cookies, $8.00+. Really? Also, please remove all identity politics signs, they are starting to upset people.

Yelp
Just popping up to say that they are open on Tuesdays since about a month ago!!!! Yayyyyyy!

Yelp
Bike here with my family on the weekend. Very friendly staff, and good food. My personal favorite is the chocolate croissant. Lots a brids to watch while sitting outdoors in the summer.

Yelp
Love that their theme is aligned with their location - right off the minuteman (bike) trail and the great options they have on their menu. Stayed here for a couple hours in the afternoon doing some work and I appreciated how there were always customers flowing in and out, but it never felt too full/packed. They also seem to have a decently busy takeout/order-ahead service and a small parking lot! Food wise, I tried their lentil salad (which was served in a very COVID-friendly container) and really enjoyed it. Can't wait to try their drinks next time!

Yelp
I enjoy eating their hummus sandwich. The service is excellent. Ordering is easy both online and in person. There are plenty of tables to sit at both inside and outside while eating your food.
google avatar

Marissa J.

Yelp
This place satisfied my bagel craving! Wow, the bagels that they get are top tier. Soft, airy, and TONS of everything topping. The sandwiches themselves were also absolutely amazing. The cucumbers and tomatoes on the lox provided the perfect relief and crunch from the salty cream cheese and salmon. The delux egg sandwich was airy, cheesy, and simply delicious. To use a frittata as an egg is genius. The only adjustment that I would make is the option to add ketchup or sriracha, that would bring it over the top.

Yelp
Kickstand is one of those businesses I've been going to for years and felt I needed to update my review. This morning, right after the Omicron surge peak I needed some non-chemically processed decaf coffee. It's my one vice. Yes, I'm truly boring. Case in point, I was actually excited to see they have finally (after YEARS) opened their doors for ordering and picking up inside. When I got inside to order there was my favorite Kickstand employee Kiko. She is like a ray of sunlight and you are guaranteed a good day if she serves you your morning brew. I did notice there's no indoor eating YET. But don't worry, there's outdoor seating with heaters available (if you dare). With a windchill of -3f there were actually five people sitting out there. It is not an exaggeration when people call New Englanders "hardy." Oh yeah also did I mention their sandwiches, soups and fresh rolls are delish? Well they are.

Yelp
Kickstand makes a great cold brew and solid lattes! I love that you can add honey or maple syrup, too. The big chocolate chip cookie was also excellent - a little crisp on the edges, but thicccc and soft in the center. I walk the Minuteman bikeway all the time, so it's an awesome pit stop. Things can get busy on the weekends, but the online order and pickup system is efficient.
google avatar

Anna F.

Yelp
Lunch was tasty! There were a lot of people sitting outside when I came to pick up the order. Quick- with separate pick-up and ordering lines outside. My salad was delicious- fresh beets, walnuts, and goat cheese were great toppings. The others got the mozzarella tomato pesto panini, and a Caesar salad with a little container of chicken, which they said were good. Someone also got a cold brew with oat milk, which she said was really good.

Yelp
I'm sad to write this review, as I've been looking forward to trying Kickstand Cafe for a long time and finally had the chance to try it today, and every single item ordered was truly just... not good. I placed a large order to get the chance to try a bunch of things. We tried two different sandwiches - the hummus veggie and the smoked turkey - cookies, coffee, and the fresh rolls they are famous for. The fresh rolls were very bland. The peanut sauce was nice but it was like dipping something that had only texture and no flavor into sauce, which made for a really unpleasant eating experience. The sandwiches were also bland and unpleasant to eat. The hummus was very thick and the vegetables didn't provide enough relief from the pastiness combined with the cold bread it was served on. My boyfriend had half of the turkey sandwich not realizing I had ordered out and when I told him where I got it he said "oh good. My respect for you is going back up a bit, I thought you made this and I was like 'wow she's really trying some weird stuff' and I didn't want to hurt your feelings and tell you how bad it was..." The cookies, while large, did not merit their $3.25 price tag each. They were not good. The oatmeal raisin was very bland, thick and pasty yet dry and the outside was dry and dull as opposed to crackly/shiny as a good oatmeal cookie should be. It was cloyingly sweet and tasted like there was no salt used to bring out any flavors or balance the dull sweetness. The chocolate chip tasted like there was nutmeg in it and was also thick and pasty/eggy/cakey yet tough. I guess the coffee was okay but it had a chalky texture. Sadly nothing we ordered got fully consumed. We made it through a few bites/sips of each thing and had to throw it all in the trash. It was not only disappointing because this was a place that looked so good that I looked forward to trying for so long, but also because that was a hefty $40 tab to try everything. I'm glad to see so many other reviewers love the food, but it also left me feeling like I was insane because the experience I had was such a polar opposite. To each their own, I suppose, and they will have no shortage of business in their location on the bike path!

Bonny D.

Yelp
I love this place. If you sit outside after lunch, you can sit there as long as you want, long after closing. Be kind, fold your chairs and cafe table and put them where the other chairs and table are. The food is carefully made and very good. They use fair trade / equal exchange (I forget which certification they use) products, so everything is ethically sourced. I'm not a fan of the vietnamese spring rolls. However, friends who like vietnamese spring rolls say that the spring rolls here are wonderful. I love their hot chai and grilled cheese sandwiches. Their Ruben is really good. So is the Thai chicken soup. You won't go wrong with whatever you order. The neighborhood has 3 obvious cafes. This is the pick of the litter.

Cheryl F.

Yelp
Kickstand is my go to place in good weather. Nice to sit outside under the umbrellas with an ice-tea with lemon and any of their delicious sandwiches, salads, and pastries. Everything that I have tried there is good! In cold weather, inside is great for a cup of soup and a grilled cheese with tomato. The coffee is good as well. Very friendly service which moves right along even with the long lines that can be there at times.

Yelp
This is a cute bikers cafe at the start of the Minuteman Bikeway on the Arlington side. It's takeout only, but they have a large patio area. The service is fast and there is ample space on the bike stands.

Yelp
This was a cute little spot for us to have lunch on such a beautiful day. The ordering process was simple and efficient and it was pretty easy to grab a spot in the sun. We got the breakfast sandwich with mushroom and spinach, bagel w/locs and the French Lentil salad. We pretty much enjoyed everything and even opted to get another egg sandwich because it was so yummy. We also ordered the ginger lemonade which was lovely and hit the spot on this warm and sunny day. Will definitely check out this place again!

Yelp
We visited Kickstand Cafe because it was the only place in Arlington that was open on July 4. It's a nice little cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a decent menu. I got a corned beef sandwich on rye and my girlfriend got a smoked salmon bagel. They were both tasty, but the value is just not there. I paid over $9 for a disappointingly small sandwich, and my girlfriend's bagel looked equally small. A good place to stop along the Minuteman Trail for a quick bite or drink, but... don't come here if you are really hungry!
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Quaint little café with nice outdoor seating. I would recommend this restaurant for breakfast or brunch. The staff were incredibly friendly and prompt. I would recommend going early as they were low on certain items by mid day. The board game and book shelf was a great touch and encouraged social interactions instead of everyone looking at their phones.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
This is a wonderful place located ideally just off the bike path, so lots of bike riders, kaffeeklatsches, moms with kids, and people with dogs. Plenty of outdoor seating, and a great place to work on your laptop indoors or out. When I first went, I had some decent lattes, but now, not so great. The barista doesn't quite get how to steam the milk. The latte ends up being watery espresso with warm milk and a lump of froth on top. The drip coffee was undrinkable, scaldingly hot and burnt tasting. I had to toss it. It's a crying shame that such a nicely located spot doesn't have better coffee.
google avatar

James Z.

Yelp
Great cafe to stop at while on the minuteman bike path. The staff is really nice and they have some heaters outside in the patio area during the cold months. Good spot to grab a bagel, pasties, hot chocolate, and lattes. Be sure to check their hours as I've definitely walked there to find them closed!
google avatar

Linda A.

Yelp
Love. just love. I'll try to keep this one short. Solid espresso drinks, friendly service, really good bagels, and a parking lot?! Yes, please. Recommended for morning fuel run, afternoon pick me ups and general testing of how much caffeine is really too much? fun Of course there's bike parking too and water bowl on porch makes me think puppies ok on porch with leash.

Kevin J.

Yelp
Not many places have outdoor seating as nice as Kickstand. After several tries at their food I'd say it's nothing more than okay. But it's cute and has comfortable seating inside and out.

Katy S.

Yelp
Kickstand feels like the town commons for Arlington. Great location just off the bike path, and since Covid they have really expanded their outdoor seating. Almost anytime of day, almost any weather, you can find a good size crowd sitting at the nice outdoor tables and chatting. The menu is varied, with lots of options for breakfast and lunch. I've always found the food decent, and have ordered a pretty wide range of items over the years. The thing I can't get over is the wait time. Regardless of how busy it is, it is like a 30 minute wait if you order online. That holds true whether you're ordering like one latte, or sandwiches for the whole family. I've started avoiding them for this reason. You could get in and out of a sit down restaurant faster than getting a to-go order from the Kickstand, it feels like.

R K.

Yelp
Kickstand cafe is such a gem and really a wonderful place for the community of Arlington! Love this place. Delicious sandwiches and baked goods - soups are good too, super friendly and kind service and the outdoor seating is lovely (they have heaters in the fall) on the cooler days. I only wish they were open a little later- keeping fingers crossed!!!

Jeffrey W.

Yelp
I don't see the appeal of this place. The food is mediocre, it's overpriced, and the service is slow.
google avatar

Lana K.

Yelp
I got a blueberry scone from here to-go (mostly because I needed to break a $20) and the wait was a bit long in this COVID season. It was around $3 and after I paid, I had to wait outside by their front tent while a staff member would pull the pastry from inside the cafe and call out people's names. Kickstand always appears pretty busy (dunno why, it's not worth spending your $$ here), especially on a weekend. The disappointment was in the scone itself which was extremely DRY, and had next to no blueberries in it. I'm pretty sure they bring scones in from some other local bakery, so I thought it would taste better. But nope, very tough to chew/bite through and I didn't like that it had large sugar crystals all over the top. It really tasted like a muck of tough baked dough. I would've gone immediately back to let them know but I was already late catching my bus in the Center.
google avatar

Joey M.

Yelp
Ok look. I can forgive a dry scone. What was I expecting? Scones are almost always dry. But when I order a cortado and essentially get a mix of latte and cappuccino its a bit of a shock to the system. Color me a coffee snob. Hard stop. I have nothing else to say about that. Otherwise it was a fine visit. staff is friendly. nice locale. Just like... fine.
google avatar

Tai N.

Yelp
Kickstand Cafe became much better after the ownership change. Compared to 3 other coffee shops near-by (Starbie, Nero, Gale Ann), this is probably the best of 4. SB's coffee is always burnt (:P), Nero presses Croissant (yak!) and Gale Ann is Gale Ann (Donuts and only takes cash and no wifi and really, you cannot sit down), this is the place I can sit down longest and type this review. People are friendly, coffee is good, and food is fine. As the name suggests, they are very friendly to cyclists - like putting out floor pump for cyclists. For bike commuters, this is the best place to go.

Emmanuel L.

Yelp
Truly one of the best cafes around!! I don't live very far away so I try to come in frequently. I recommend the roasted chicken panino and the broccoli cheddar soup. The staff is super welcoming and kind, environment is fun and relaxed. There is seating inside and outside along with a parking lot. Fun place to visit when in the area!
google avatar

Victoria S.

Yelp
Kickstand Cafe was a good option for our group on a Saturday morning because of the variety on the menu-- there are lots of breakfast options, lunch options, and baked goods. I opted for the fancy Avocado Toast, which comes with arugula and pickled onions, and a blueberry and lemon scone. I only got one slice of the Avocado Toast, which was good, but wouldn't have been enough food if I hadn't also gotten a pastry. While all of the baked goods looked good, my scone was disappointing and incredibly dry. If I go back next time in town I will skip the baked goods!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Kickstand Cafe is adorable. Salad and sandwich were exactly what we were looking for, delicious and filling. 10/10 would recommend.
google avatar

Tanya S.

Yelp
Really tasty iced tea and some quality gluten free options. The raspberry crumble is amazing! Outdoor seating is lovely but fills up fast. Inside usually has more seating options. Great way to pause while exploring the minuteman bike trail.

Yelp
073 / 100 - 2018 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. Very cute and very popular cafe in Arlington. I came here to meet up with a friend for some coffee and we settled on Kickstand Cafe as it was right in the middle for us. We got here on a Sunday morning (right before lunch) and it was PACKED. Thankfully he got us a table, so we were able to get a spot to sit after putting in our order. I ordered the matcha latte with almond milk and he got himself a coffee. The staff at Kickstand Cafe are very friendly, cheerful, and helpful. Our orders arrived pretty quickly. I actually liked the matcha latte at Kickstand, which is great because I'm usually very picky about my drinks. There's ample seating inside and outside and the cafe itself is pretty clean. I'd like to come back here again to try some of the food and pastries.
google avatar

Amy G.

Yelp
This place has been brought me so much comfort in the form of chai teas, pastries and bagels during these Covid times. This place has outdoor seating and gets busy on the weekends. I recommend you place an order online to pick up. They have a safe system in place to get orders out (masks, available sanitizer). When you place it online it will be ready in 10 minutes. I love going there and saying a quick hello to the friendly staff. My favorite items: bagels, muffins, chocolate chip cookies, spring rolls, and Thai Chicken with red curry soup (seriously so good).

William H.

Yelp
Casual cafe offering well-crafted sandwiches and drinks made with local favorites like Iggy's bread. Half of the tree-lined parking lot has recently been converted into ample outdoor seating. Easily on par with other local cafes like Bloc 11 and High Rise. Plenty of bicycle parking of course!
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
Added to my list of "places to go for a doubleshot of espresso"...they have coffee, pastries, sandwiches, a restroom, lots of seating, and parking (shared with Anton's next door).
google avatar

LaiSun K.

Yelp
I come here because they have outdoor seating. The coffee and food here are OK - nothing outstanding. The breakfast egg sandwich I had was small but tasted good. The berry scone was quite large but doughy and lacked berries. The steel cut oatmeal with walnuts and dried fruit was great though. I am a fan of oatmeal so this one was on par with many I have tried elsewhere. The customer service here can be inconsistent as it depends on how busy they get but nothing a smile can't fix. This place benefits from being at a great location - right at the Arlington bike trail and no real competition as there are no similar cafes around.
google avatar

Luke C.

Yelp
Very good sandwiches, the presentation was a bit lack luster, but it's a cafe so honestly not a big deal. The roasted chicken was very good, with slices of bacon and their signature kickin' sauce. The place was very warm, with lots of wooden accents and aesthetic views. It's right next to the Minuteman bikeway, and there are lots of cute outdoor tables. There are a bunch of bikers with a ton of bikes outside if that's your thing. Overall would go again!
