The Nationally Celebrated Cho Wines Will Open a Hillsboro Winery and Tasting Room | Eater Portland
"Having opened a new Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard venue in late 2023, Kickstand Comedy is a nonprofit comedy theater that has announced a partnership with the Black- and queer-owned pop-up Daddy’s Vegan Wangz and Rangz to host a kitchen at the venue. The collaboration was announced after the theater opened, and an opening date for Daddy’s at Kickstand has not been announced." - Janey Wong
A small but mighty comedy club. It’s a great intimate space. Since it’s a nonprofit all of your purchases go directly back to Kickstand including tips. The prices on food and bev are way less than any other comedy club in town and they don’t require any minimums which I appreciate! I will definitely be back in the future.

Stand up? Check. Improv? Check. Sketch? Check. Weird? Check! This comedy theater has all of the hahas and hehes you could ever want in a Portland evening! If you haven't been here before you HAVE to stop in and see a show (or two)!

The improv was excellent! Had a great time. Show was short and sweet. Good for a fun outing / date. Highly recommend the hot chocolate across the street as well.
Edit 7mo later: been taking improv classes for ~4mo, highly recommended. Definitely not a cult 👌

BIPOC only classes exist because many non-white people are taught to cater to white emotions, and to make themselves small around white people. It’s the same reason there are women-only gyms; women and non-white people are still oppressed in “normal” spaces in America. If this is confusing to you, it’s because you don’t listen to or respect non-white people. Glad that this space exists 🙏🏻

Show was decent got there early hoping for some food they had a very limited for and drink selection but show was funny and vibes were good we will definitely come back!! And it’s right next to a great food cart pod so the lack of snacks was not an issue at all💯

Portland has a lot of great comedy venues, but Kickstand has that little something that makes it my favorite in town. The owners are super nice and clearly put a lot of work in to cultivate a great space. The shows are top notch, the community is inclusive, and the talent is unmatched. Could not recommend it more. Also, Away Days Brewing right next door is a great spot to hang before shows!

Really enjoyed the energy of this venue, it feels handmade with love, and they do a ton of great shows. Warm, comfortable venue, reminded me of London's Bill Murray Theatre. Check them out for something a little left of center, but super funny!

Love the comedy in the park that they run. Some constructive criticism, though - would've loved to have gone to the show tonight but the blacked out doorway and no one out front made it really unclear that people were supposed to open the door and walk in to be added to the walk up waitlist. We thought the place wasn't open yet when we showed up at 7:50 and killed some time until 8:15, and by then we were too far down the list to get in. Someone out front or at least a sign telling people to come in once doors open would be really helpful.
