Kihei Caffe

It is situated right by the ocean. We arrived here for our breakfast and ordered breakfast burrito, oatmeal, cappucino and iced coffee. The burrito and the oatmeal were tasty. The cappuccino was decent as well - both in terms of roast and quantity. The highlight was iced coffee which my wife really enjoyed. A decent place with good food.

Delicious home fries! Delicious food! Would definitely come back here! The breakfast burrito was great. Wish the beans were inside instead of on the top. The kids pancake...the menu says turtle or whale shaped. Then they only have one shape each day.

The food line to order was fun (wish I knew to jump inside and grab a menu, rookie mistake) and wait for your food from a food runner. I was great experience and took about 10 minutes to get my omelette !! The bacon side order was a portion, which came on a separate plate, that makes mainland breakfast places, blush with envy. My photos don’t do the place justice enjoy when you go!

Great food! One of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. Some advice… Look at the menu before you go and be ready to order. You get in line and order inside and the line goes fast. You then find a spot to eat. They will not let you sit without ordering first! We didn’t have a problem finding a seat, the employees do a great job of keeping the flow going. I definitely recommend!

The food choices are awesome. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is delicious 😋. The servings are plentiful. You order at the counter and they give you a number and you seat yourself inside or in the outside patio area. The servers bring your food out to you. There is a self serve station where you can get cold water and condiments. It is located inside the Lahaina Gateway Shopping Center across from Ross. There is plenty of parking.

Kehei Cafe: A Must-Try for Breakfast on Maui Kehei Cafe is definitely doing something right! I visited this morning with my daughter and was thrilled that we were able to get a table pretty quickly—a great start to the day. The staff was fun and helpful, making for a really pleasant atmosphere. For our meal, we decided to indulge, and every dish was a winner. We started with a classic cinnamon roll, but the real stars of the show were the savory and sweet mains. The breakfast burrito was awesome! It was big and tasty and got an extra layer of deliciousness from the addition of fried rice inside—a truly inspired combination. The French toast was equally impressive. It was wonderfully thick and perfectly prepared. The topping was what set it apart: they used bananas that were kinda fried and absolutely incredible, all topped with a unique and delicious coconut syrup. Between the quick seating, the great service, and the truly delicious and hearty food, Kehei Cafe is a must-try for anyone looking for an excellent breakfast spot. Highly recommend the breakfast burrito and the French toast!

I had the pancake and it was large and filling. The line was long but flowed fast and inside where you place your order the staff is awesome and proficient. Good food and good vibes for all ages. As we ate we watched the activity at the beach.

We were debating between this and Bacon & Blossom we went for Kihei Caffe bc it’s more of a landmark but it’s definitely like an overpriced Dennys breakfast. You have to wait in line first to order, only one cashier so line can get long, then you get your drinks and look for a table. If you’re lucky you won’t be surrounded by chickens who want to eat your food. They even came up to our table it was a bit scary. There is no restroom so you have to go across the street to the beach restroom or at the outdoor market next door. If you want to go for the experience, cool it’s nice in front of the beach but food definitely didn’t wow me.

Went here with a few friends and it was really lively! The eggs benedict was really savory and the perfect amount of soft and crunch together, and the breakfast potatoes were a perfect accent to them - my friends got other breakfast items and a burger and had similar positive sentiment! - Miguel Morales Photography

The loco moco was decent, but the fried rice elevated the dish more and gave it more flavor. Not sure how to feel about the cashier service as the encounter was interesting . Boyfriend spelled out his name for the order as it was an ethnic name, the receipt came out with "Lou" on it LMAO.

One of the best breakfasts we had in Maui! The must dishes are the Surfer Dude Sandwich and the banana Mac nut pancakes. For the pancakes and fr much toast, skip the generic syrup and make sure you use the coconut syrup and cream butter! They make those dishes so much better! And the combo of the brioche roll, avocado with the usual bacon egg and cheese is really yummy too! The fish and eggs are good but a little strange for me to be eating for breakfast. So maybe skip those but not the pancakes and that sando!!

Really rate it 3.5 and not necessarily worth the hype. Just okay. Reviews/google say this a must stop spot while in Kihei. We arrived for breakfast around 8am on a Tuesday and it was starting to get busy but not too crazy/hardly any wait. You order inside then are seated outside. For food we got a loco moco and the pork fried rice and eggs. We thought the loco moco hamburger patty tasted like a frozen one and overall didn't have much flavor in the gravy/nothing special. The pork friend rice was solid and had lots of meat. Portions are normal size. We were witness to some adorable baby chicks, along with chickens who helped us clean up our baby's accidental food dropping on the floor which made for some entertainment. The service was fast. It's a fine stop (with a great park across the street) but didn't feel like it would be worth it if we had a long wait or don't feel like we have to stop here again.

Not as busy when we came to eat at 1pm. Ordered the Pork Fried Rice with Eggs. Plenty of seats outside all the tables on ground floor belongs to Kihei Caffe until 2 pm and then Ohana Seafood Bar and Grill re arranged to their liking. Pork Fried Rice with Eggs was good but a little bland for me which wife add Tabasco.

This place gets crazy busy but the people working are super fast. You choose a seat *after* you order (you can easily find a place to sit -- and if not, there's usually someone who can direct you to some seats). I had a great time eating and talking. It gets a little loud because of how busy it gets, but since you're outside it's not overwhelming. There are chickens running around but they won't bother you at all (but this one man seemed so bothered by it, he started stomping and kicking chickens -- but again the chickens will not bother you, they literally just walk around). 8/10 Eggs Benedict. It was a good eggs Benedict. Nothing too special other than the fact I added the kalua pork. Their fries were very crispy! 6/10 Mac nut and banana pancakes. I think it's just regular pancakes with the banana and Mac but as toppings. It was good, but could've easily made this myself. 7/10 seafood omelette. Nothing special, it was good.

If you want elevated Hawaiian diner breakfast...fast...this is it! A must try for anyone visiting Wailea or Kihei.

DELICIOUS BREAKFAST in Kihei!!!! It was so good that we had to go back before we left. They're known for delicious and fluffy pancakes and French toast with coconut syrup as well as other traditional Hawaiian dishes like loco moco. The portion is huge and the price is very reasonable. Pancakes are super fluffy. French toast has a slight crunch on the outside but tender and fluffy inside. They taste buttery and everything just melts in your mouth. Pancakes and French toast has a scoop of whipped butter on top. Make sure you pay a little extra to get sliced bananas and macadamia nuts. They add a very nice crunch and texture to these dishes. Also, it's a must to drizzle a lot of coconut syrup instead of maple syrup! My stomach is growling while I'm writing this review. Their loco moco comes with a big bowl of rice, beef burger patty, an over easy egg on top, and topped with lots of brown gravy. It's so tasty! Service is very fast. Order and pay at the counter and they will bring your food out to you in 10 minutes. Be sure to check out their blackboard behind the counter. They often write their specials and drink options (creamy ube coffee or whatever special coffee of the day is). This place is a MUST for those who visit Maui and stay in Kihei!

Probably the best chicken fried steak I've ever had! Delish. The wife liked it, too. She had French toast and loved it, too. Odd ordering as you had to do so at a counter than someone brings it out so no wait service per say. Enjoyed the chickens and baby chickens walking around.

Great casual option in the middle of downtown Kihei across from the beach. Friendly counter service with food that arrived quickly despite the crowd. Outdoor seating only. I had the Caesar Salad with the Blackened Mahi and my choice was freshly prepared with a generous portions of the Mahi. Fantastic choice for people watching before and/or after enjoying the beach!

The famous local brunch spot! Hearty, stick to your ribs, Hawaiian fare. Loco Moco ($18.95) and Banana Macadamia Nut French Toast ($11.95 + $3 for topping) - both delicious. Coconut syrup is also - yum! Very casual, order at counter then pick a table outside.

We used to love Kihei Caffe and come here every time we were in Maui. The banana macadamia nut pancakes were phenomenal - but now they are kind of a let down, very soggy and not a ton of macadamia nuts anymore. They also got rid of their pineapple syrup which was what really made the pancakes a huge hit and accentuated the other flavors to make it a flavor bomb. The food has gone down hill drastically and I wonder if it is because of their creation of the chain. The restaurant is almost all outdoors with many tables and a very slanted countertop with stools. It's shared business space with the bar next door. You go inside to order which is a tight space and tight entrance/exit. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Overall, hit and miss at this point. Hope they can redeem themselves and stop worrying about all the chain restaurants that seem to be making their quality go down.

* review from when I went awhile back* Planning another trip back to Hawaii and never reviewed this place. Amazing food, but it gets BUSY! Go early (before 8am). We ordered take out from the to go window. Not sure if they still do that but at the time they did. We got a bunch of items, cinnamon roll, pancakes, loco moco, smoothies, pork fried rice, and French toast. My favorite items were the loco moco (their gravy is extremely good), pork fried rice and the cinnamon roll. I still think about that cinnamon roll. Portion sizes are huge so great to go with a group and share plates!

We've been to their other location on the other side of the island a few times- and it was really good. This location makes more sense as to the food you get. You get in line, order, and go find a place to seat. The host can be a little gruff. I do understand that they are constantly busy and the probably get tired of people- but still... We got coffees,(which were good), and a cinnamon roll to start. Great frosting and soft roll. Would defense get again. Nearly homemade good. I got the eggs and chorizo. Omg- so good. Just like I've had in Mexico. Just excellent! My wife got banana mac nut pancakes with coconut syrup. She was in heaven too! Great place for big breakfasts in Kihei!

I come here at least once every time I visit Maui! And I will continue to as well. Their service is fast and friendly. Big portions, and you can't go wrong with anything you order here. They are popular for a reason.

Friendly and efficient service at the counter when we ordered our food. There were so many good selections on the menu, the employee helped me narrow it down to the eggs Benedict with pork. [Spoiler alert: it was delish]. Once you put in your order at the counter, you find your table outside. The busboys were not that friendly, just seemed like they want you to quickly eat and leave so they can clean up for the next guest(s). Witnessed one take a plate from a customer when she wasn't entirely done and was in mid conversation with her friend... that was kind of shocking.

Kihei Caffe in 30 Seconds! My Take: Cozy little walk up cafe in the heart of Kihei. It's a semi-chain, but it's famous and expanded for a reason. Amazing breakfast, delicious coffee, quick service. My Order: Coffee, cold brew, macadamia nut pancakes, loco moco (chicken fried steak is amazing, as is khalua pork moco). All top notch breakfast. Best in south Maui! Final Thoughts: Fantastic for the price. Each Kihei Caffe has a slightly different vibe but equally awesome food. Just look out for chickens/roosters snagging your pancakes.

Oh Kihei Caffe, how I miss you! We enjoyed this place so much during our trip, came three times, and we made it a point to eat brekkie here before flying back to Cali the same day! The friendly staff here is efficient, and it amazed us how fast they got our food out (bonus stars!). Not only does the food come out hot and fast, but everything is massive and packed with so much island flavor! I've had loco moco countless times in Cali and Vegas but for me, it was just so-so. However, I was WOW'd at theirs!!! WOW'd! Whatchu mean I get a choice of either 1/2 lb Angus beef burger patty, Kalua pork, Spam, chicken fried steak, or corned beef?!? This "traditional Hawaiian breakfast" over here at this place totally set the bar for me. Okay so, I am going to try and replicate their amazing Pork Fried Rice at home because that's how much we enjoyed it! Don't think it will be quite the same, but I will definitely try! This was the first eating fried rice that didn't feel greasy on the lips while still tasting delicious, moist and fluffy. Every spoonful of rice had ham, bacon, and Portuguese sausage in it!!! Yelp pointed me to another great restaurant! Katie want to eat somewhere in the area. We had not been to this part of the island before. With the review rating and the number of reviews, I figured not only would this be a great place to eat, but we'd probably have a hard time getting in. Fortunately, we missed the crowd, or hit a lull. We found our way to the order area and I asked for eggs Benedict with something I'd never had before - cheesy grits. Katie ordered scrambled eggs, biscuit and gravy and potatoes. Everything was fantastic! I used her leftover potatoes to clean my plate. A great place for breakfast!

Staying in Kihei while we were in Maui, we would come here often to get breakfast. You can order inside and the seatings are outside. They have a variety of breakfast/brunch items on their menu. You will see traditional breakfast food and Hawaiian food on the menu. I love being able to sit outside and enjoy breakfast first thing in the morning. The tables are right near the local streets and you will get a few friendly chickens walking on the side walks. This is a popular spot in Kihei so it does get quite crowded. Staff are always friendly and the service was quick despite peak time.

Staff was efficient and friendly. Dining space is clean. Food options are great, generous, and tasty! Ample parking available. Definitely returning when back in Maui. As a note this review is for the location in Lahaina.

We went to the older of the 2 restaurant. Food was ok I had loco moco gravy was delish bath hamburger patty wasn't anything to brag about.. if ordering maybe switch to chicken fried steak vs party. Corn beef hash and biscuit were really good If definitely go again!!

Should have known service was going to be terrible when at the register they have a mouse trap saying that's where to press for the complaint department. -you have to pay for ice water- we spent $68 for 2 people and have to buy some ice water? Unacceptable - food is basic- nothing special. You can get the same stuff everywhere. - service just brings you your food. You have to wait in line to order and get told to move out of the way for people to bring out the food. You have to wait in another line for your coffee. Absolutely do not recommend stopping here.

Came here on Saturday around noon with my boyfriend for our vacation. We ordered chicken and waffles and original local moco w/ beef patty. Both had just enough saltiness and was extremely savory without being extremely overpriced. Seating was a bit confusing but a worker helped us find a spot after some confusion.

This was our first meal of the whole trip and it seemed highly recommended on a bunch of sites. It was pretty good and they served large portions. My sister and I shared a chia bowl and I ordered for myself the breakfast burrito. The chia bowl was refreshing but I only ate some of the fruit - I personally didn't like the texture or the coconut flakes on top. I had regrets not ordering the parfait bowl (that would've been the safer choice). The burrito was huge -it had cheese on top (that wasn't quite melted) and also came with a side of beans, salsa, and guac. We came right before the rush around 8:30 AM so we didn't have to wait in line or anything. We were able to snag a table on the patio and enjoy our first morning in beautiful Kihei! They are in a great spot on the main strip. You can seamlessly walk to the beach/park, shops, and nearby grocery (expensive) store!

This place came highly recommended from a friend who's been coming to Maui for years! The macadamia nut banana pancakes were divine!!! They came with an additional coconut syrup that was so sweet and rich, but was perfect for a little dab on each bite. We also got a breakfast burrito (not supreme) which was fine but definitely didn't hold a candle to the pancakes. We got our order to go (maybe took 15 min or so) and walked across the street to the beach park to watch the surfers. Kihei caffe was already popping with people at 6:45 in the morning!

No water. They don't offer water with ice, you have to buy a boxed water. Seriously? Guys bringing food to the table are obviously annoyed with people. Cashier seemed short and annoyed. No one here seems happy to be here. Kinda sad place. They offer zero service here, so no point in leaving a tip. Did I mention no ice water?

Standard breakfast fare. Pancakes and cinnamon rolls are the real stand outs for breakfast. Their country potato's are delicious but more like English chips or fries. They perfectly cooked my sun side up eggs. Service is a bit hands off since they are a busy place. And I can't give 5 stars to a place that makes you buy $2 water cause they "can't" fill their plastic glass with some for some reason. So if you want anything to drink with your breakfast you're buying it or bring it before hand. Seating is only outside, under umbrellas or their patio roofing. So don't expect to get out of the weather of the day. Didn't have a chance to try their lunch options. But I'll likely be back to try them next time I'm on Maui.

One of the best corn beef hashes I've had. Well worth it. It's slightly crispy, but not too fatty and tasty. I got the upgraded fried rice and the gravy. Corn beef: One of the best I've had. And I get it everywhere I go. Crispy and not too fatty with green onions on top. Pork fried rice: The pork fried rice alone would be a decent meal. Do not hesitate to get that. Biscuit and gravy: Normal biscuit and gravy Cinnamon roll: Not too sweet and tasty. It sells out quick so grab one if you can.

Kihei Caffe is one of my favorite brunch spots in Maui! They have multiple locations but this one we visited only has outside seating. If you need to use the restroom, you have to cross the street and use the public restroom by the beach. They have so many brunch items to choose from. Their Portuguese sausage fried rice was so yummy with the perfect runny egg on top. We also ordered mochi pancakes and it was the perfect sweet dish to balance out the savory fried rice.

Breakfast was great. Chickens are fun to watch! Kids had fun watching them run around. Main tip: get there early. Long wait. You have to wait in line to order, and then they seat you.

We came here after a recommendation from a family member who grew up in Kihei. It was AWESOME. Being from Michigan, fish amd eggs just isn't an option you see on menus. I had to give it a try. It didn't disappoint! We loved the outdoor seating area. Expect to wait since this place is popular. You'll wait in a line to order, then you'll pick up your drinks from the drink area. After that, you'll be seated and they'll bring your food to you.

4 words: Banana Macadamia Nut Pancakes. What a beautiful thing to wake up to! These were the fluffiest pancakes I've had in a long while. Wish there was more sauce but adding syrup did the trick for me. The Pork Fried Rice as well as the Iced Ube Latte were both underwhelming. Stick with the pancakes and you'll be OK. I heard lines can get long but there was no wait when we came around noon.

This one gets a 5 star! Omelette super tasty, French toast with Mac nuts and bananas was tasty .. Potatoes that came with the omelette were super crispy and excellent! Definitely would order those again!

Delicious food. The line does not move particularly fast so just be prepared when you hop in line for breakfast to be on your feet for a smidge- but it's not outlandishly long of a wait either. Was seated at one of the little bar counters and did not prefer it because I was stuck between that and a persons chair so it was cramped and not the cleanest but that's okay! Because the food was DELICIOUS! My new go-to breakfast place for certain.

We stopped at this restaurant before hitting the beach. My husband ordered spam and eggs, which is always good. I ordered fried rice with scrambled eggs. My meal was DELICIOUS!!! I absolutely loved it. We ended up eating here again during our trip. It can get crowded, but it's worth the wait!

We were recommended to try this place out and came for breakfast. This is located across from a beach park and close to the south maui garden we were at yesterday. You order inside the restaurant and sit on the outside. The food is delivered to the table. The bar area we sat at was a bit crooked so plates slid towards us which was amusing to me. Special was the ube coffee which was really ube flavor coffee. Some places color it purple and call it ube, this is not that kind. The POG probably had too much ice but I think it's fresh as it gets more concentrated at the bottom. The chai latte didn't reinvent the wheel. We ordered french toast and the pork fried rice with a sunny side egg. These were marked as popular menu items for breakfast. The french toast was what you expect but we poured coconut syrup on it. The better plate was the pork fried rice. We added the shoyu and pepper in the condiment basket on the table. This made the dish better. What it could really use though is some good chili pepper water! That was not out on table so not sure they had it. Overall I'd say it's a typical breakfast place. They do serve lunch so maybe the lunch is more better? I'd come back to try lunch next time we take a trip to Maui but with so many food trucks and a DDD restaurant near by, this place has some steep competition to contend with.

The reviews for this place were great so of course we had to drop by. I ordered the pork loco moco and ube coffee and fiancé got the egg plate with bacon and potatoes. The people running the cash register were very indifferent and not overly friendly but that didn't matter much. We got sat and the food arrived shorty after that. The loco moco looked great. The pork was soft and the portion was big but it was a little underwhelming. A bit plain, but not bad. I've had better loco mocos on the mainland and on Oahu. The ube coffee was not good. The ube flavoring was weak. I didn't care for it. The fiance said his egg plate was fine. Couldn't go wrong there. Overall, it's fine. I wouldn't mind trying it again although I was surprised by all the hype.

Wow! An amazing breakfast here at Kihei Caffe! Just right off the main road, Kihei Caffe is one of those places that you have to visit if you're in the area. The food was very good and flavorful and they had a very large menu to choose items from. When you get to the Kihei Caffe, you have to order before you're seated. So be prepared to know what you want! I recommend maybe looking at the menu on the website beforehand, so you're not rushing to make up your mind. It is outside seating so be ready. Each table had its own umbrella so it wasn't too bad in the shade. Also don't worry about the extra guests that might join you (chickens running around), they're there to have a good breakfast as well!

First, this restaurant doesn't have table service. When you walk up you get in line and then order. You can't seat yourself until you've ordered. Once you've ordered you have to go to the station to get water or coffee. This is fine but it bothers me that they then expect you to tip when you're doing all the work. You'd never tip the person at the cash register at a McDonalds so why here? The atmosphere was decent. We sat outside and there was plenty of shade. Although we were right on the road we had a nice view and the road noise wasn't bad. Moving on to the important stuff. I had the loco moco with spam and then a side of kalua pork. The food was exceptional. Everyone at our table was satiated. One meal wasn't cooked right. We asked for egg whites but they don't do that so instead we asked for eggs over hard so the yolk could be cut out. It came out eggs over easy. The food also came out fast once we found a table. However, once we were done they really made it clear they wanted you gone for the next diner. Overall the good is that the food was exceptional. The bad was the lack of service.

This is one of the most popular breakfast places in Kihei area. It opens pretty early, and there's always a lineup. However, the line moves very quick as there's plenty of outdoor tables. We stopped by around 9am, and waited around 5-10 minutes for a table. The actual kitchen and ordering place is a pretty small indoor space. We were instructed to order and pay first, and get our beverage and utensil box to our table. Our server is pretty good at finding a table with shades, as it gets pretty hot when sunny. Once we sat down, we quickly realized the use of umbrellas of each table. It's not just for the sunshine, it's also for the bird poops, as there are probably hundreds of birds living in the trees above the restaurant. Another interesting scene is the free range roosters and hens. They are everywhere! On the side walk, under the table, and even on the table eating people's leftover! It definitely has a farm feel when eating among them. Once we sat down, the food came within 5 minutes, which was pretty fast. We ordered loco moco, Belgian waffle and Atkins omelette. The portions are pretty generous. The loco moco is a must try if you like meat, rice and gravy. Atkin omelette is my favorite, filled with eggs, Cheese, sausages, different kind of proteins, the Belgian waffle was made fresh, it's crispy and light. The service was okay, servers are all males with friendly manner, and the girl who took our order was knowledgeable, but a bit on the rush side. It's like she just want to get through the day. I don't blame her with how busy they are. Our meal with tips came to over $60 with a couple of coffee and orange juice for our daughter. And they don't give out free water, maybe their tap water isn't drinkable. We bought a box of water. Our over all experience was a-okay. Do we love it? Not really, but we don't hate it either. If we go back, we will order something to share for sure.

The line is long but it goes fast. While you wait in line you can look at the menu. Order at the cashier. Cashier will give you utensils and napkins. Find your table. (Indoor and outdoor seating available.) We had a big group so fortunately there was space to put two sets of 4 seats together for us to sit together. Grab your own water. Listen for the workers to call your name and they will deliver your food to you. Take out boxes are all available for you once you're done. Food was good- lots of variety- fresh fruits- pancakes- French toast- coffee/smoothies. We liked the French toast better than the pancakes.

Cashier was a bitch. Kept rolling her eyes and had an attitude with the tablet. Even asked if we wanted our eggs on the patty for the loco moco....where tf is it supposed to go? I get tourist might want it elsewhere, but you can obviously tell we're local. Do locals really eat loco mocos with the eggs on the side?! No service. No water. Dirty tables. Okay food. If you cannot provide decent customer service with food worth the price, then you should just do everyone a favor and shut down.

Best breakfast place in kihei. Don't be intimidated by the line. It moves fast! Stand in line, order your food, then find a seat. Your food will be out before you know it.

Such delicious hawaiian breakfast! We came at 9am and had to wait around 25 minutes to order and get our food. They mostly have outdoor seating and it does get a bit sunny. - French toast with bananas and macadamia nuts was the perfect consistency and breakfast for a sweet tooth. So good with the butter and a drizzle of syrup. - Loco moco was also delicious, and balanced the sweetness with savory. I loved the gravy, runny egg and the amount of pork. Delicious with the rice and good to share! tip: they only have bottled water, so you can bring your own or order their drinks (i thought the lemonade was just okay)

Loved the energy and environment! Food was delicious! The pork was so juicy and flavorful!
