"A charming restaurant, whose name means ‘come and eat’. Start with refined versions of street food in the moody lounge, then head for the tasteful dining room decorated with golden Buddhas and fresh flowers. Menus offer modern, personal interpretations of Thai dishes, which have vibrant flavour combinations." - Michelin Inspector

"Thai Fine Dining Kiin Kiin is situated in the heart of Norrebro and combines the neighborhood's ethnic charm with a polished interior assembled by hip, progressive, Thai designers. Known for building upon the hallmarks of Thai cuisine - flavor, freshness, and exotic flavors - Kiion Kiin also delivers the presentation and high quality ingredients that Danish Thai food can often lack. The restaurant has received heavy praise from many local papers, and is the only Thai restaurant in Copenhagen to hold a Michelin Star. Photo: cyclonebill on flickr"

I love Thai food. Have eaten Thai food my whole life. Have never eaten Thai food like this. Super interesting. The table next to us even got to blowtorch their own crust. They definitely don't hold back on the spice level. Whole meal took about 3 hours start to finish. Service was friendly. Only complaint is that the pescatarian substitution for the beef being fishcake felt a bit.. cheap.. I was told it would be king prawn. Then again I did request no beef just before the meal. Would describe more but better you try it for yourself. Just Thai flavours in textures you've never tried before. While I definitely enjoyed my meal here, if I had to choose between this and my regular Thai takeout, I think I'd still go with the latter. Would recommend this as a try if you want Thai food but different.

A relic of Michelin days past. A decade or two ago, this was likely a ground breaking experience in light handed fusion of Royal Thai cuisine in a French haute cuisine format, but times and trends have moved on, and Kiin Kiin has not evolved or kept pace with what’s available on the international scene in its class of restaurant at this price point. I can see how this must have burst onto the scene so long ago, because the concept is interesting; the 6 amuse bouche/ snacks to start the meal are innovative in their mix of traditional flavours, spice, heat and textures and were one of the highlights. But as the meal progressed some of the table side theatrics just began to feel unnecessary and almost detracted from the actual quality of the cooking. Asian diners familiar with fine dining or the Michelin and even non Michelin accredited establishments in South East Asia will likely be disappointed here because the flavours are familiar but not elevated enough for them to appreciate. That said, anyone who is less familiar or just craving a light haute cuisine Asian experience for date night or a special occasion will enjoy the evening. The environment and decor is a little dated and lacks the refinement and sophistication of other establishments at this price point. But it’s still comfortable and… maybe a little too warm. The AC here is stuffy so try to be seated near a window so you can personally modulate the draft from the window yourself. The aromatic crab curry with home made rice noodle was a highlight. The curry is delicate enough to be turned into an espuma which highlights the delicate flavour and aromatics. Many of the other dishes felt very heavy handed in salt and acid and lacked the sophistication and execution of this dish. And like I said before, some of the fussiness took away from the actual good cooking of the kitchen. Not so in this dish. Service was pleasant and the establishment is run by a mostly Asian crew predominantly Thai in ethnicity to give it that exotic feeling. They seem to enjoy entertaining you and helped to make the night more of an experience.

Incredible fine dining experience! Each dish was an explosion of flavour, resonant in the language of Thai cuisine. Almost everything was perfect but the music was a bit cheesy, almost muzak-esque. Might be nicer if they used some modern Thai jazz or something else from that sphere (without becoming a parody of itself)

Google
One of the few Thai restaurants with a Michelin star. It’s a blend of traditional and some fusion mix of Thai food. We had the 6 course menu. The concept starts with a mix of snacks while you are in the main lobby of the restaurant and then you are ushered to the main dining room for the 6 course menu. The menu includes a soup, some sea food dishes and ends up with a meat dish followed by a dessert. The service is good / and attentive and expected for a Michelin star restaurant. The wines choices are good too and they have Riesling to start / followed by wine pairings if Chardonnay / Rose wine and Red Italian wine with the main meat dish. There is some innovation/ some dishes are delicious and overall the experience is a good one. It’s also decent and reasonably priced as compared to other various Michelin starred restaurants in Copenhagen/ or any other big European metropolis. Soup to begin with was delicious, one of the salmon and caviar dish was excellent and so was the meat with rice as a final main course. I would say overall worth a visit especially if you want a break from Nordic cuisines and want something spicy and Asian. Wine pairing is decent and if you don’t mind the additional cost then I would recommend. Meal for 2 is easily 400 euros without wine pairings. Verdict 4/5

Google
Not a Michelin star imho. The starters on the main floor were the best. Service, flavors, atmosphere. Upstairs for the rest was tediously long… too much time between courses. Service was not good at all. Courses were trying too hard . Way too much fuss, and not enough good food. Oh, and my wine pairing with each course came late . Spend your money elsewhere. Ps- the book by the chef(?) saved the day -on each table to read while you wait, I guess . Very good .

Google
A very nice meeting with asian cousine in Nørrebro, CPH! Try to avoid basement seating when you book, as it is too noisy for this price category (pipes). Very nice service, then again, basement seating gives you a sneaky feel that you are forgotten..

We celebrated our anniversary at kiin kiin on the 20th of Dec 2024 and wow wow wow …everything from the service to the food was Perfection to a T ♥️ from the snack table to upstairs for the main menu 🙌🏻🙌🏻. We loved how they made us feel more special and the food and experience was on another level 👏🏾👏🏾. It’s definitely one of the 10/10 best experiences you can have in Copenhagen 🇩🇰❤️ . This was actually our second time at kiin kiin and both times are Perfect 👌🏾, looking forward to our third !!!!

Google
By far the best Thai restaurant I've ever visited! The food was fantastic and the service was on another level! We had the tasting menu and bought wine on the side (be aware that many of the wines, also in the wine menu, is natural wines). I will most definitely be back 💯

Yelp
Michelin rated - with the first Asian Michelin star chef in Europe (or Copenhagen?) Warning that the experience took 4ish hours. There was def something off about the night because we and others were left at the door with no greeting for about 8-10 mins - everything was just a little slow. Like maybe they were short staffed. Also they kind of ignored us after we were done eating even though we wanted to pay the bill lol. However, food was really great and no complaints otherwise, lots of showmanship, and flambé!

Yelp
I grew up eating Thai food in Asian countries, including Thailand, and in Los Angeles. This is the worst, least authentic, overpriced Thai food, period. The food quality was mediocre at best. The service was bad. The waitress had one hand carrying dirty dishes and the other serving us appetizers in the lounge area. The bathroom was dirty and the stalls had no locks. I complained about it but no action was taken. It's a three hour meal with 70% downtime. Worst dining experience for the price we pay.

Yelp
Amazing experience and amazing tasting menu. I have yet to encounter a Thai tasting menu, and the Michelin star here is more than well deserved. The experience itself takes you from the lounge area, while you sit and enjoy snacks and delicious drinks (my favorite here was the ice cream resembling chicken satay), to the dining room. The servers are amazing, explaining and making sure you understand the story behind each dish. The Tom yum soup (served very non traditionally but the taste is full of authenticity) is one of the best things I have ever eaten. In a city filled with options for fine dining, I highly recommend Kiin Kiin for a refreshing and entirely different tasting menu experience :)

Yelp
Kiin kiin was very well done.Their food had many different flavors which I did not enjoy but i am personally a very picky ea. I would not recommend children coming here as many things are very spicy. The best thing about Kiin Kiin was their phenomenal service. Somone was always there to help you and explain every detail. The atmosphere was very relaxing and cultural. I would definitely recommend for people who are willing to experience new tastes.

Yelp
Visited in May 2015. Reason why I'm writing a review now is because this restaurant is still the first place I mention when people ask where they should eat when traveling to Copenhagen. They are the best Thai cuisine I've had outside of Thailand hands down and I've been to many authentic ones especially in Thailand (that's a lot of "Thai" in one sentence.) When I went, they offered a 20+ course menu which is tapas style with cards that tell a story of each dish. Every single dish was amazing and unique while still preserving the Thai flavor and heritage. We complimented each dish with a 2007 CAMP du ROUSS. If you are a foodie then you know Copenhagen is known for their many Michelin star restaurants so choosing one can be hard. I recommend trying Kiin Kiin at least once in your lifetime and I guarantee you won't regret it!

Yelp
3.5 stars I have mixed feelings about Kiin Kiin. On the one hand, it was probably the most creatively thought out meal I have ever had (and also my first Michelin star restaurant), and on the other hand, our whole experience had surprises around every corner that did not settle well. Please refer to my NOTES throughout. !!!!NOTE: this is a tasting menu restaurant!!!! There are 2 components to the dinner. 3 if you choose ("choose" is used lightly ). The first part of dinner consists of Thai snacks in their ground level lounge. Each dish is unique and gastronomy plays a big role in your dining experience here. Almost every dish has peanuts, so make sure you inform the server if you have an allergy. Our friend had a substitute for almost everything. You are also offered beer or wine. I didn't want to drink that night, so they offered me watermelon juice. (NOTE: you pay extra for this) A menu wasn't given to us until a few snacks in, which detailed the rest of the meal. The second half of dinner is upstairs in the dining room, where you are first offered still or sparkling water, no choice of tap (Note: you pay 50DKK PER PERSON for this. SO YOU BETTER HYDRATE) I was so impressed with every dish that came out and how thoughtfully created they were! I loved that the experience was interactive - injecting noodles into the tom yum soup, and dissolving cotton candy to add sweetness to the salad dressing. Each piece was explained well by attentive servers. They were very prompt with refilling glasses (they better be, if you're pay 50DKK for it) and cleaning dishware. I found that there were many EXTREMES - very salty, very sweet, very peanutty, very spicy. But there was a little bit of each in every dish, so they blended well for the most part. The only one I wasn't fond of was the pad thai because it was TOO MUCH of everything. My absolute favorites were the 2 desserts at the end. Banana bread and sorbet! At the end, you are offered coffee/tea. SURE, why not?? (BUT NOTE: If you say yes, you are brought back downstairs for another light meal, which you will pay extra for). As soon as they started bringing more desserts out, we realized how much deeper we were digging our hole. There are about 6 more dessert/snacks - again, creatively planned. We were too full from dinner, and honestly thought we were just going to get coffee and tea. But once again, we were unpleasantly surprised by more food and hidden costs. In summary: Please review my NOTES, because these are all charges we were NOT aware of. I'm not sure why they don't give you a menu to display prices. I understand this is a Michelin star restaurant, but even something as simple as beer/wine/watermelon juice should be displayed if you are going to offer it and not inform your customers. OR offer alternatives such as tap water. Lesson of the day: DO YOUR RESEARCH! Hope this helps!

Yelp
In a city whose modern dining scene is built on foraging, preservation and the sort of Artisan practices that are rarely seen in 2017 it may seem strange that one of Copenhagen's most well-regarded restaurants is a Modernist interpretation of Thai Cuisine by two Danes, Lertchai and Henrik Yde-Andersen's Kiin Kiin continually considered one of the world's best for over a decade. Originally opened in 2006, a love for Thai food cultivated through several years in the country giving its founding Chefs the sort of assurance to launch a unique concept in the emerging Nørrebro neighborhood long before Puglisi turned the area into one of the trendiest places to drink and dine in all of Denmark, Kiin Kiin is currently toqued by Holstebro-raised Dak Laddaporn who learned to cook at the elbow of her Thai Mother, a molecular influence only embraced later during apprenticeships throughout Copenhagen. Decorated in religious artifacts, orchids and woven textures, guests entering on the ground floor immediately offered a seat on rattan chairs where snacks including dehydrated Lotus Root with Lime Salt, Citrus Tea and an "eatable bag" of Thai flavors await, the scene at Kiin Kiin is set early with servers aflutter, the set-menu presented largely for perusal and drink pairings decisions. Not exactly a comfortable way to sit for those of any height, the recessed chairs putting ones knees at nearly eye level if leaning back, snacks in the lobby continue by way of Meringues with Wasabi Cream revealed by a swirling 'magic trick' before progressing into a Spinach Leaf Wrap with light heat, the "Satay" of Chicken Skin topped in Peanut Butter Ice Cream, Ginger and Apple the meal's first memorable bite with compelling texture and temperature components as strong notes of Cumin come first before dissipating into a sweet finish. Smiling at shaved flakes of Bonito dancing atop what was essentially reconstructed Chawnmushi next, the Moo Ping and Chiang Mai to follow both served hot with big flavors of Char and Curry, it was here that guests were led upstairs to tables tightly packed into a dining room that was unfortunately stuffy, the Kiin Kiin cookbook present on each and every table to pass the time as courses were brought out as readied by the kitchen with wait times often substantial. One of the few Michelin starred restaurants in Copenhagen open on Mondays, the reservation a tough one even today thanks to tourists as neighboring tables on all sides were heard speaking English, Kiin Kiin's proper menu began by way a trio of diverse flavors including a Ginger and Lemongrass Rice Cracker and delicate Prawn Toast alongside a bowl of Tom Yum Soup into which guests are encouraged to unload a syringe of liquid Tofu, the hot Broth quickly cooking the 'Noodles,' though the combination of such a large bowl and small syringe made for a bit too much liquid and not enough substance. Requesting a glass of Iced Tea to go with the meal, staff inexplicably never asking if the table wanted Water and eventually such an odd situation that it became a point *not* to ask just so the surcharge could be refused, course two was served as a big pile of Cotton Candy that was vanished by way of a tableside pour of Chili and Garlic Marinade, the dish described as spicy perhaps "Thai Level 2" by American Standards though the Citrus-cured Fish in a tangle of Mint and Greens seemed to benefit from the subtlety as it allowed diners to taste each of the well-sourced components individually as well as in combination. Presenting a Kiin Kiin 'signature' next, the Nitrogen frozen Red Curry creating a billow of cold steam that was soon expelled from nostrils atop a snappy Langoustine hidden beneath a blanket of Vegetables with a bit of Citrus and Fish Sauce, it was here that diners were given the choice as to whether or not to add the 155DKK "Extravagant" supplement of seared Duck Liver in foamy Plum Sauce, the expectedly unctuous Foie Gras finding its foil in a liberal grating of fresh Ginger. Thankful for small portions to this point, Chef Laddaporn's riff on Thai Coconut Soup served with a round of White Rice to be added at the diner's discretion to a bowl also containing Chicken Breast stuffed with Forcemeat, Asparagus and crispy threads, those fearing too much heat from the Massaman Curry will be happy to know that Denmark's idea of spicy is quite different from most places, the deconstructed and reconstructed dish of Potatoes, Coconut and Tamarind beautiful in its balance and complex in textures thanks to the individualized presentation of its components. Transitioning from savory to sweet by way of a steel ball flipped open to reveal Lime Curd and Meringue on one side with Citrus Cream Cheese topped in Leaves of Holy Basil on the other, a refreshing duo whether enjoyed separately or mixed, it was only after a nearly thirty minute pause that dinner came to a sudden end by way of Banana Cake with Salted Coconut Ice Cream served in deconstructed textures

Yelp
This was one of the most amazing dining experiences I've had and one of the best meals I've experienced while in Copenhagen. My cousin who lives in CPH had recommended it to me but it was already on my list to try. I've never been to Thailand but I can definitely see why they got their Michelin star. I went for the theater menu which is cheaper than their regular menu but it was still worth it. Definitely dont skimp out on the wine pairing! Although I do not drink, my sister had ordered it and they pair their wines with each course perfectly. If you dont drink alcohol like me, I would suggest the juice pairing. My favorite course was probably the quail tom kha main course. The rice was cooked perfectly, soft and fluffy. As full as I was, I devoured my whole plate. I definitely suggest this to be one of your stops on your food adventure in CPH. I would for sure come back for another meal!

Yelp
One of the top 5 restaurants I've ever tried. Evidently, the first Thai restaurant to get a Michelin Star rating. Absolutely amazing experience/ meal. Top notch staff, choreographed nearly to perfection--and when I say choreographed, I really mean that. There was a lot to manage and check off and it was fascinating watching how the staff worked the food and clientele. You have the option of pairing the meal with juices or wines, and since we had never heard of juice pairing, we did that, and so glad we did! Delightful surroundings and the food was thoughtful, artistically composed, and delectable. It's not that often you get surprised by a meal, but this one was a gastronomic adventure and I will be recommending this to anyone I know heading to Copenhagen! Money-wise: Expensive and worth it.

Yelp
Kiin Kiin is the only Michelin starred restaurant Thai restaurant outside Thailand. Their impeccable reputation is well deserved. To save some money, we went for the four course early dinner, which still offers most of the Kiin Kiin experience for about half the price. You'll begin your journey in the lounge, where you will be presented with 8 or so amuse bouche dishes that can be enjoyed in a single bite. The dishes, which change nightly, included pork rinds with eggplant curry jam, steamed eggs with miso, lettuce wraps with chopped vegetables, duck sausages with red cabbage, and fish tartare. Don't miss their handmade cocktails. After enjoying the fun bites, we went upstairs for the dinner. The first course consisted of flounder with a green salad and ginger dressing made table side. Then, we had a green curry and cod soup, which was accompanied with Thai eggplant and salt roasted. The next course was steak and squid. The fresh squid was incredibly soft and presented tastefully. My only complaint was that the steak was cut into rather large pieces and it was difficult to chew a piece of steak the size of your palm - apparently the Thai don't use knives and Kiin Kiin stays true to this tradition. For dessert, we were offered banana cake, with shaved coconut and coconut ice cream. It was splendid. As you can imagine, the service was flawless, and I loved the food, particularly how each dish brought different flavors together and allowed the flavors of the ingredients to shine through. Rather than take the wine accompaniment, I tried the juice parings. Each dish came with a fresh delicious choice of juices: jasmine lemonade with the fish, lime and ginger with the soup, red grapefruit with the beef, and cold chai tea with dessert. A trip to Copenhagen isn't complete without a visit to Kiin Kiin.

Yelp
We've been looking forward for ages to eat at this restaurant but was very disappointed with the service. We waited ages between courses and then received two courses together and rushed out without the possibility of tea or coffee. I was even asked to pay the bill in the middle of eating my desert which isn't good enough for a restaurant where we paid almost 4000dkk. Also the waiter presumed that my boyfriend was paying and it was my treat to him. Not cool. All in all disappointing service that couldn't live up to the reputation, food and price. Arrogant head waiter needs more training

Yelp
This was a perfect end to a visit to Copenhagen. This was our final meal and we definitely enjoyed it. There were so many unusual touches that the restaurant experiments with as it relates to the experience, the food, the presentation, and service. If you are looking for a fantastic dining experience at a Michelin-starred restaurant that is worth every penny, this is an excellent spot to consider. Come hungry. They serve you a lot of food. And it is all wonderful. While I photographed all of the dishes served, what I enjoyed about the experience was the element of surprise. Hoping that you will have the same experience, I am not posting any photos of the meal. In the confirmation email in advance, you are asked to supply any dietary restrictions, which they were more than happy to accommodate. It's a sleek but comfortable environment. Dress snappy, but you don't have to go over the top. You'll start your meal in the lounge area with "snacks" before adjourning upstairs to the dining room for the mains. On the dining room table, you will find some books which include some interesting information and insight about the chef/owner. It's a great distraction while you are in between courses. We opted for the wine pairing with the meal. Definitely was the right choice. The wines were wonderful and they were also generous with the pours. Our server Porsche (yes named after the car - according to him) was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and injected his personality into the service. The food isn't necessarily going to be "authentic". Our menu included an inventive and quite tasty twist on pad thai. So, if you're looking for traditional Thai food which may reflect what you've had in the past, you're coming into this experience with the wrong mindset. If you are looking for flavorful interpretations of Thai food, then you are coming in with the right expectations. After your meal, you'll come back downstairs to enjoy coffee/tea and some sweets at the end which represent a bit of an "optical illusion". Made for a great ending to a fabulous (and approximately 4 hour) meal. It's not the cheapest meal in the world, particularly with the wine pairing, but given the quality of service, the quality and quantity of food and beverage, you will be happy to have paid Kiin Kiin a visit.

Yelp
The most amazing dining experience I have ever had. From the moment we sat down in the first room to have incredible snacks we were made to feel special as the meal which is a work of art unfolded in a beautiful ambiance. This is Thai food at a Michelin Star level that is impossible to describe. It course is severed with just an unique twist. Whether it was the noodles you literally squeeze out of a syringe or the foam that melts like cotton candy on your plate, the innovative way each course is prepared and plated and presented is just outstanding. The service, the staff, the quality and presentation of the food has to be experienced. The owner and crew here have really accomplished something extraordinary.

Yelp
Thai food is rarely considered amplified to the level of fine dining, and before my girlfriend surprised me with a booking here during our recent holiday in Denmark, I didn't know if I was walking into a spa or a lounge bar. Greeted by the owner himself, Henrik was chatting to us and treating all his other patrons like welcoming a family with much pride and joy. For a fine dining establishment, it refutes the pretentious ambience in favour of a welcoming family home where the waiters are imbued with a casual, warm and inviting essence rather than solemn and robotic formality usually experienced at other reputable Michelin starred places. The restaurant is split into two parts, we enter through the downstairs lounge, which is not too dissimilar to a Thai spa, with it's down tempo music and dim speckled-lighting softly illuminating the long room with low chairs. We were sat down to enjoy our canapés with drinks before being explained by a waiter the concept of the food and what we will experience. The cosy environment continues upstairs into the main dining room as we were led to our candlelit round table. We chose our drinks options, my girlfriend opted for the three-glass selection of best wines and I went for the six-glass juice menu. The Thai-inspired taster course consisted of six savoury dishes and three desserts, plus the ten mini canapés earlier with the aperitifs. I tried their home brewed Kiin Kiin beer which was smooth and had light, refreshing citrus note. The food was beyond excellent and I am so glad I got to sample Henrik's menu, and tended to by his friendly waiters. The meal was not cheap at £330 in total for two people but the experience is not one I will ever forget or question it's value. I left with a big smile on my face. This place easily deserves a second Michelin star which I hope it does soon.

Yelp
If you love Thai food and don't make a reservation here when you're in Copenhagen you've made a mistake. This was the best meal I've ever had! You must do the full tasting menu with wine pairings. It's expensive, but so worth it. The ambiance just adds to the entire experience. The restaurant is very cozy and the staff is super attentive. They're very knowledgeable about everything they're serving you, including the wine. The food is divine, and I left feeling very satisfied. You won't feel stuffed, but that really shouldn't be the end goal at a nice restaurant like this one.

Yelp
Worst thai/ Thai-style, thai-food I have ever tried. Now mind you I'm American, love thai food, lived in Thailand, and I have a hard time not liking any thai food. This place is the same eating a A photo of thai food. Thai food is wonderful, this is hardly anything less then using the love of thai food to sell the owners idea of thai-inspired crap.

Yelp
So I knew going to Copenhagen that I needed to get a Michelin meal in somewhere, it was hard to pick. After finding that Kiin Kiin was one of only 2 Thai Michelin restaurants in the world I was intrigued. Tip #1: Arrive hungry, it's a lot of food and it's all so good, if you're not really hungry your going to still eat it.. When they sit you down in the lounge to start things off and "snacks" just start flying at you it can be a bit over whelming; but it was all awesome. I'm going to guess things change pretty frequently so I'm not going to single too many things out. The first snack were some meringue cookies with a wasabi butter, the cookies arrive hidden in a fishbowl and kind of appeared when the waiter gave the bowl a shake. A lot of the dishes were fun like that, which was really the hallmark and real surprise of the meal for me the playful need and way there was almost a joke (or at least a sense of humor) to many of the dishes. You could tell the chef has fun thinking of this stuff. After snacks they move you to the dining room for the main meal. Food arriving for that is a little more spaced out, maybe too much, I'm not sure we really were happy that the meal took almost 4.5 hours (7pm res, finished around 11:30), but I am forgiving that because I enjoyed the food so much.

Yelp
Calling all Thai lovers! You MUST try Kiin Kiin if you are in Copenhagen! It is really such an aamzing experience and like nothing else. I came here with my good friend where we both love thai food. You start downstairs having a welcome drink and trying different snacks. This really puts you in a relaxed and good mood for the meal. After the snacks, you are moved upstairs to your table. Each course was thought out...I really enjoyed the course with the dry ice and the noodle dish with the edible chopsticks. I chose the small wine menu which included 3 glasses and I think that fit very well with the menu. The only thing I may comment on is the service was a bit rushed at times and they seemed almost too busy, or a bit hectic. However, I recommend this place to everyone who wants a Michelin star experience with amazing presentation and thai food.

Yelp
Just..wow!  If you're American and used to Thai Food; I must warn you immediately that this is NOT the traditional Pad Thai/Pad Kee Mao or even the Laab Na of your neighborhood Thai place! Instead you are treated to a wonderful spa-like environment (relaxing and welcoming) and a true dining EXPERIENCE. They serve nearly 21- small "tapas" style tastes of Thailand and other cuisine (Viet, Singapore and Japanese immediately come to mind). The presentation and the explanations of each dish were thoughtful, fun and nothing short of amazing.  I called with a party of 8 on VERY short notice and they were able to accommodate us in their VERY cool wine cellar (complete with 900+ wicker baskets suspended from the ceiling). We were there for a total of around 3 hours. So bring an appetite and be prepared for a bit of theater with your meals :)

Yelp
AMAZING. Simply amazing. You not only get some of the best Thai outside of Thailand, you get an experience. KIIN KIIN is not one to miss and should definitely be on your "must eat" list if you live here or are just visiting. There's a reason it is one of the only Thai restaurants outside of Thailand with a Michellin star.

Yelp
This is an amazing restaurant. May be the best Thai in the world. So amazing we bought their cookbook which is all in English with gorgeous photographs. The food is inventive and very, very unusual. The food is served and presented beautifully. Wish I had my camera with me. Eight or so courses (all small) but you will leave stuffed and happy. Very accommodating to food allergies. It is a 2 and a half our meal and worth every minute of it. Really nice, friendly people. Maybe my favorite meal in Copenhagen.

Yelp

Yelp
Go to Klin Kiin if you want to be treated well by their professional and attentive wait staff. Also a great place to go if you like taking pictures of your food as the presentation is truly inventive. Take a pass, however, if you want to leave the restaurant feeling satisfied. We went to Klin Kiin three years ago and had a wonderful meal. We came away from tonight's meal feeling Klin Kiin has become so absorbed with the idea of food that they have lost track of what makes for a satisfying dining experience. We went out for pizza afterwards. Pretentious and sickeningly overpriced. Avoid!

Yelp
Finally been there tonight. Fantastic beginning and ending, nice chat with Chef Henrik Yde, (told him how bad the Dim Sum is). The whole dinning was an experience, nice and cozy. All food were prepared with delicacy and great effort, which put my personal preference to the last to judge. Loved it!

Yelp
The extremely attentionate and nice service is what I would remember most. The starters were all very good (oh, that extremely tender snail...), and well presented. However, we felt slightly rushed... The main meal itself was an avalanche of various flavours and textures (orchids flowers a must !) The plates were also very well decorated, yet simple. We ate a lot, but we didn't feel full at all. Attention is paid to every detail in the deco as well, with the lounge area, and the bathroom being particularly nice. Perhaps the only let-down is the location: in a standard building, opposite a cemetary... Still, I would go back :o)

Yelp
Came here with knowledgeable friends from Copenhagen. Food was good, with lots of theatre. We did not do wine pairing menu, rather ordered a good white and red. We believe that some of the dishes were sufficiently spicy to have diminished the appreciation of wine and with these drank water - juice may have been a good alternative. We were served wine or champagne on arrival with assortment of appetizers. After dinner we were shown to the lounge for coffee and assortment of sweets. There was no indication that either of these incurred additional charge. On top of a substantial fixed price, which reflected value, these additional unannounced charges seemed petty. Servers changed over the course of the evening and the final bill was very slow in coming. There appeared to be no one person who had ultimate responsibility for our table and it's service.

Yelp
We went to this Michelin starred Thai gem - and I don't even care much for Thai food. But the street food appetizers followed by the formal courses were all excellent and so was the service. You may argue that it was not a true Thai restaurant, e.g., it had a Postcard from Tokyo dish. But I fully support trying to give the best experience rather than being 100% Puritan with the concept. Highly recommended

Yelp
Everything was delicious and interesting! My low rating is because of the assault of appetizers that came right as we sat down and the owner's snotty attitude when we complained about it. Was just a bit too fast. Wouldn't have even bothered me that much if the owner hadn't been a total egotistical snob about my feedback. Instead of taking my feedback to heart he started lecturing me about how I should look not let little things detract from a good experience. He even admitted that he's heard this complaint many times before, yet he made it clear that he knew better than the people complaining. I was utterly appalled by his "I can do no wrong" attitude.

Yelp
We were able to get in on short notice and so happy we did. This is one of two of the only Michelin Star Thai restaurants in the world. The atmosphere is stunning and from the moment you arrive you are taken on a culinary journey through Thailand. The reviews cover everything we had and 5-star all the way. If you can get in, GO!

Yelp
The shorter course menu is a tremendous value. At times we felt the meal went a little too far into molecular gastronomy (I really, really wanted them to bring out a regular red curry). However the street food portion was delicious and the main dishes were tasty and memorable. A wonderful experience overall.

Yelp
This is one of the two Michelin star Thai restaurants in the world. The atmosphere is trendy yet cozy. Interesting items, we had the valentine's day menu, my memorable items were appetizers, coconut soup, and red curry. The rest was just ok. I am not sure what we were really expecting from Kiin Kiin perhaps a bit more flavor, but I rather go to my local take away place, Thai Lana, which is extremely flavorful.

Yelp
We were lucky to get a reservation. This place is insanely good! The flavors are distinctly Thai and the presentation is curiously humorous, flashy (in a good way), and beautiful.

Yelp
So much fun! Each dish was creative and magical. I also loved that instead of a wine pairing, you could do a juice pairing, which really complimented the dishes by adding an extra ingredient. A wonderful dining experience!

Yelp
I have no idea what some of the bad reviews are about. I love Thai food but hail from America, where most of the Thai food is pretty watered down and flavorless. I don't think you come here for "Thai" food, per se, but rather for an explosively mind-blowing culinary experience. You will not get pad Thai or other dishes, but rather a reinvention of how to use Thai flavors and cooking techniques with Scandinavian ingredients. This restaurant is totally different from most French inspired haute cuisine, and the colors and bustle of the restaurant really reflect that. You will have your snacks in the lounge area downstairs and then move upstairs for the seated dinner. Most of the dishes do reflect some Thai influence, whether it is salty/spicy/sweet/sour or classic seasoning flavors like lime and basil, but it is not drowned in fish sauce as a previous reviewer claimed. The food is very playful and inventive and experiments a lot with texture and temperature. My favorite dishes were the frozen tom ka soup (tip, let it melt a little bit before you eat it all as the flavors are more pronounced if it's slightly melted), the soup on a beach and oysters, the desserts and the celery scallop. Don't hesitate to book a reservation here -- I would argue that while a totally different dining experience, the food is on par with many other famous restaurants in Copenhagen.

Yelp
My second visit to Kiin Kiin's flagship restaurant. As expected the food is fantastic. Unfortunately though I was disappointed that the meal was the same as my previous visit which was four months ago. I would expect otherwise from such a notable restaurant.

Yelp
I came with zero expectations, just an excited girlfriend wanting to eat at anything with a Michelin star and an opus of a tasting menu. I was absolutely blown away by the innovation of Asian cuisine being offered here. At first I was slightly offended by the few aperitifs offered while waiting for our table in the lounge, their flavors coming off as cloyingly sweet, a punch in the face of wasabi dip, an overly salty meringue, but I felt it was purposeful, which I later confirmed while thumbing through one of their books on the table. The onslaught of dishes that ensued exuded balance and absolute intensity. The umami being expressed is more than over the top, with all other flavors creating a loud and on point symphony. I feel I only experienced one dish failure and I was not sure why they chose this oxtail dish and so late in the meal, still perplexing a bit, but nonetheless enjoyable, just not sure if I understood the communication of the dish. It's about 12 hours right now since I started that experience and I am still higher than I have ever been on umami. My brain feels like a squishy mess of ecstasy. The spices continue to move the energy up my spine even if I relax. I have never tasted better expressions of chili, lemongrass, ginger, and galangal. I have never had so much fish sauce in one sitting, let alone the best and most balanced fish sauce I have ever put in my mouth. The price of the tasting menu is beyond reasonable, rather generous. When it comes to price, it's the drinks that will get you. It's sort of a joke because of how much the cuisine makes you want to sip on something, anything, and even the water is expensive here. I suggest you educate yourself in wine and order off the wine menu. The bottle prices are totally reasonable and there are selections on there that are rare sleepers for the serious connoisseur. No worries though. I would gladly pay these drink prices just to sit and enjoy this meal, laughing the whole way through.

Yelp
My 1st & only Michelin adventure. Whoa! Never has my dining experience been so fancy! If you can afford this, you will definitely enjoy it! Mind blown!!!!

Yelp
Very sorry to say that we regret spending so much money on this deceptional experience. First of all: their chef really is outstanding and Michelin-star worthy as the food was truly amazing. However we could not fully enjoy this as the service was honestly poor. Our waiter seemed unexperienced and made numerous mistakes - also to the couple sitting next to us who were equally unhappy. Overall very chaotic. After dinner we had to wait 15 minutes before receiving cold coffee with no sugar whatsoever; reason was our neighbouring couple wanted to pay and the ATM didn't work well. Meanwhile we had to listen to hoovering & cleaning noise from upstairs. When we wanted to pay we had to wait another long, long time and then, after hitting the 'OK' button I found out that they charged another EUR 8 "because we have to pay high taxes". Written complaint has remained unanswered to.

Yelp
This is the best meal I've ever had in my life. My parents also agree. We have traveled the world and eaten at many incredible restaurants, but this was the best. The chef is innovative without going overboard and the flavors are incredible and intense. I have the fresh juice pairing with my meal - such a good decision. The juices themselves were exploding with fresh flavor. I hope to go back one day.

Yelp
Amazing food and experience overall. We went with the fixed menu, which they very attentively adapted to my dietary needs (no red/white meat or shellfish). Some at our table did the wine pairing and some opted for the juice pairing... Both were fantastic. The atmosphere was gorgeous and comfortable. Potentially the fanciest meal I've ever had. Worth it!

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed such a great variety of tastes however on reflection the taste of lemon grass seemed most prevalent. My recommendation that all should enjoy this great albeit costly experience with such delightful service.

Yelp
I was expecting a lot being that it is one of the two Michelin star Thai restaurants in the world. The pre-appetizers that came out while we were waiting to be seated for dinner were excellent. The owner was there and was even serving us the pre-appetizers and he told us a little bit of his story which was amazing to hear. When it came time for our testing menu dinner, everything tasted like it was made out of fish sauce and more fish sauce. The first 4-5 dishes tasted like it was drenched in fish sauce or they all carried the same flavors of lemongrass on everything. By the end of the night, we never wanted to see fish sauce or lemongrass again. The owner himself spent 4 years in Thailand and I'm guessing that those are 2 strong flavors that they had used over there, but when ordering a tasting menu, that's all we were really tasting. I had hoped to see more diversity in the dishes as we had seen in the the pre-appetizers. If the tasting menu were along the lines of those pre-appetizers, it would have been spectacular. Based on that tasting menu, I would not return. Service was great from the owner and he was a pleasant person to speak with. Our waiter, who was from Vietnam as he told us and then said he wasn't and then said he was, definitely took his time. Atmosphere is spectacular with the lanterns downstairs! We were there for 5 hours so we got really tired by the end.

Yelp
Not very authentic, the dishes didn't even feel like they were made out of fresh ingredients (calamari felt like they came out of a package and the same with the prawns) not a single dish out of 7 wowed us and we didn't even finish a single one of them. Service wasn't very satisfying and it was terrible to sit in the bed table having dinner.

Yelp
Absolutely One Of the Best restaurant experience, save up some money and Go all In. Then you will get a culinary rollercoaster tour. Thanks for a great evening.
