"Chef Nuit Regular impresses with her elaborate, one-of-a-kind vision of royal Thai cuisine. The elegant space is a prime setting for equally elegant dishes, which are presented with flair. Colorful mounds of rice, pineapple and dumplings shaped like flowers, and so much more arrive in petite forms in small bowls and on large platters. The dishes themselves will ring familiar, from Isan-style sausage and larb, to hot and sour beef soup and the famed khao soi, all of it seasoned and spiced in a measured manner. The tender Boombai short rib glossed in a dark curry is a particular standout. First-timers should start with the signature chef’s tasting, which nearly covers the entire menu alongside a few bonus dishes." - Michelin Inspector

I visited on my birthday and tried their Thai course meal — and wow, every dish was absolutely delicious. You could really taste the care and attention to detail in each bite. I was genuinely impressed throughout the meal. The staff were also incredibly friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. It was such a memorable way to spend my birthday!

Google
Excellent experience that followed through from the time of booking till the end. During reservation period, Service Manager was friendly & responsive. Special requests were duly noted & accommodated. We had the prix fixe Mother’s Day menu. The meal was both beautiful & delicious. Food was flavourful, thoughtfully & delicately presented. Every dish was someone-in-the-group’s favourite, so there really wasn’t a miss. If we had to comment, presentation for the green papaya salad was a tad lacking compared to other dishes. Pictured is an app trio, the gaeng boombai neua (braised beef), miang pla (sea bream), lobster pad Thai, and the tub tim grob dessert (coconut sorbet w/ water chestnuts). Service was friendly & attentive. The team proactively tended to needs, big applause for this point, as this is often missed. Excellent service. Will definitely be re-visiting & recommending to friends!

Google
Fantastic Food and Service! We tried the 7-course tasting menu, and it was amazing! You could see the skill that went into creating the artistic dishes and how they consisted of a variety of flavour profiles. They deconstructed the components of different Thai dishes and reconstructed them in unique ways. I've truly never had anything like it before. We really enjoyed the flower dumpling on the appetizer dish, the lamb, mango sticky rice and coconut gelato with ruby syrup. Their menus change seasonally, so we are definitely going back!

Google
We have been to PAI many times. The wonderful seasonal Tasting Menu at Kiin was great. Each course was beautifully presented and ingredients explained. Everything was good (wyagu beef, lamb lollipops, etc.). In particular we enjoyed the artistic Jasmine dumpling, and the Coconut sorbet dessert. As a party of 3, we were given a nice roomy table. We tried the tea pairing (refreshing non alcoholic drinks) and the wine pairing. Service was excellent, thank you! We will be back! 😊

Google
One of the rare places on which hype and expectations matched the experience. Full Michelin-style treatment with food that at times looks too good to eat. Each dish was delicious and better than the last. Really look forward to returning and checking out the tasting menu. The staff is incredible and attentive. It was almost fun to watch and see how often they would refold our napkins when refilling our glasses. The attention to detail was awesome and the food even better. Tip: order a roti, best I’ve ever had

Google
The vegan tasting menu here is absolutely brilliant. Starts off small then goes bigger. The flavours are rich, and mind blowing. Each bite was something truly special. Our favorite was the coconut gelato for dessert. We were very full after this tasting menu. We visited for a birthday, and the staff were all very nice. It’s a quaint spot, very intimate. We can’t wait to come again for their next seasonal tasting menu!

Google
Tasting menu was delicious - starts off small but quickly ramps up to meaningful quantities. Taste as well as presentation was excellent. I can see why they are Michelin recommended. Apparently the tasting menu changes 2-3 times a year to take advantage of seasonal varieties so cannot wait to go back and try the new menu.

Google
Thank you for taking care of my wife and I on our anniversary. The food was unreal (compliments to the chef) and the service was amazing (thank you to Vanessa and everyone else that gave us a memory for the books) Favourite dishes had to be the betel leaf and dumplings! All the other dishes were amazing as well!

Yelp
Fantastic food and flavors, at a bit of a premium price point. Decor and ambiance is lovely and modern, feels like a nice place for a work lunch or date night. Appetizers were extremely small but flavorful. Playing was gorgeous, but space on the table made eating family style a bit inconvenient. Service was a bit spotty- had to wave down a waiter for water refills and eventually for our check.

Yelp
I was excited to try a Thai tasting menu and it didn't disappoint! Everything was super tasty, interesting and fresh. I liked trying out their cocktails. The service was attentive and prompt. We went on a Friday and the restaurant had a calm environment so I think it's great for date night.

Yelp
This place is AWESOME!!!! It draws you in right from the street, at night this restaurant looks so intriguing from the sidewalk, you can see in and you just want to be inside eating! The aesthetic of this restaurant is right up my alley. I loved the lighting in this restaurant, dimly lit but with lamps on each table. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and we got the 12 course option. First of all...the food was a work of art. Every single dish that came out and was presented in front of us was lovely. And once that first bite goes into your mouth you appreciate it even more! Our server was amazing, explaining all of the dishes very well, and also how to eat the dishes. I can't even tell you what my favorite dishes were because they were all AMAZING. If I had to choose my favorites....the second course was just delicious, I forgot what it was called... and the lamb chop was HEAVENLY... All in all, this place is top tier! A MUST visit in you're in Toronto!

Yelp
I went to this restaurant on a Sunday for lunch with my husband and two sons. They were offering a weekend brunch menu when we were there. We ordered Pad Thai, Jhok and Thoong Thong. Pas thai was delicious - a bit on a sweeter side. The portion was very generous . Jhok is a porridge with some toppings (pouches egg, peanut etc).. it was just ok. Thoong Thong was crispy dumplings. There was sauce in the cucumber where the dumplings were placed. It was tasty as well. The interior was very cute and the staff were very friendly.

Yelp
Good food! I came here for lunch today around noon. We were seated promptly upon having a reservation. We ordered moo ping, dumpling, boat noodles, pad Thai chicken and chicken fried rice. On the drinks we ordered the owliang ( Thai coffee) All the food were really good. I really enjoyed the moo ping and It's one of my favourite Thai dishes. Service was amazing, our server was always checking up on us and ensuring we taken cared of.

Yelp
As soon as I sat down at Kiin, I was in awe of its interior design, including the ornate lighting, custom ceramic cutlery rests, and usage of bright colours. This feeling continued throughout the meal as I felt like I was in an intersection of Asian royalty, the Victorian era, and a cottage core aesthetic. Coming from the same owners as Pai, I had high expectations. I ordered the Khao Mun Gai/Gai Tawd (Thai-style Hainanese ginger-garlic rice with chicken, winter melon soup) and a Cha Chug, Thai pulled milk tea. The food was hearty but didn't blow me away, and the drink was a little too sweet. However, the overall experience was good and I'd definitely come back to try their brunch items.

Yelp
Best Thai branch I've ever had, and it was such a unique experience overall! My group had a reservation and we were seated immediately after arrival. Interior was so cute and a mood lift! The menu was attractive, and I had a hard time deciding which dish I want to get. It features traditional Thai food, with a bunch of Thai drinks, including espresso drinks. I loved the congee. All ingredients and spices go well together!

Yelp
I've never had Thai breakfast before, and being somewhat of a brunch enthusiast, I immediately made a reservation when I found out that Kiin now does brunch! When I first stepped into Kiin I fell in love with the light airy aesthetic of the place, everything was so beautiful. We started with the Rama Caesar, which tastes like a regular Caesar but with Tom Yum soup as a base. The Thai iced coffee was also pretty good but I found it quite similar to Vietnamese iced coffee. We got all three of the brunch items and they were spectacularly presented and tasted equally as good. I especially enjoyed the Thai crullers that came with the Khai Kratha. We ended the meal with some donuts and they were also very good. While I wouldn't say the brunch was the best food I've ever had, dining at Kiin was definitely an exciting culinary experience. Thai breakfast was something I've never tried before, the aesthetic of the restaurant was pleasing and the service attentive. Overall a great experience.

Yelp
Far exceeded my expectations! This place was absolutely amazing from the moment we walked in. Cute and cozy restaurant vibe. Fabulous service. Amazing food. Checks all the boxes! We had some lovely Rosé bubbly to start then ordered the golden bag dumplings. They were nice and crunchy and a nice spicy filling of chicken and veggies inside. Loved the presentation in the cucumber cups . Then the coconut soup with mushrooms, another flavorful dish. Lots of different mushrooms, with a nice broth of coconut milk . The lemongrass was so good I could Smell it. Loved this soup. The green curry with chicken, wow, so different from ones I've had before. Nice spice level, the chicken was wrapped in betel leaves, which gave it such a different texture . With other veggies this was a nice balanced dish with the rice. Highly recommend this. Everything I ate was just perfect. I loved the small intimate layout of the place too. Also I saw it was featured in the Michelin guide. One of our best Toronto meals was here!

Yelp
Based on the reviews, I had expected to be wowed. On first impression, the interior was nicely decorated with lovely furniture, flatware, and details. We got the traditional Thai breakfasts. Both were very underwhelming. The jhok was the flavourful, but the egg based breakfast really was meh. Two unseasoned fried eggs with a bit of minced meat and sliced sausages (which are easily bought pre-made from grocery stores). While the price is comparable to other places, it wasn't worth it. We were also disappointed by the Thai tea...too sweet and too little tea flavour. Overall, decent service, nice furniture, interior, underwhelming food that I wouldn't go back for (and that doesn't even make me curious about the other items).

Yelp
The Royal Appetizer is our favorite to order. This dish is not meant to be shared as you get four small but tasty pieces of shish kebab. Our favorite was the small wonton. I wanted to eat 100 more when we were done! We also ordered the Mieng Pla (whole snapper baked in sea salt with Thai garlic, Thai basil, finger mint, peanuts, ginger, scallions and lime in Thai kale leaves). - This dish was light and refreshing. There was nothing wrong with it, but it fell short for me. It wasn't my cup of tea. Sometimes the bites can feel salty. But our favorite main dish is savory! Gaeng Boombai Nua (Braised AAA Wellington County Beef Ribs with Tamarind, Field Cucumber and Pearl Onions). When it comes to our entrees, savory is king. The meat in this dish was tender and melted in your mouth. Even the huge bones looked majestic! The restaurant was beautifully decorated. I would like to try this alcoholic drink next time. It's beautiful.

Yelp
Great food and great atmosphere! When you enter, you are greeted with the cozy, warm, elegant interior. We got there an hour before the reservation and the staff let us in early. They do coat check at the restaurant so you don't need to have your jacket in the way at the table. We got the set menu and tried both noodle options. The appetizer portions were small, so it was great to taste many different types. For the main courses, everything was tasty in different ways. The beef curry and soup were rich in flavour. The Jeow bong was full of texture. The only thing we didn't like was the chicken curry (goeng breu gai), we didn't the hint of flavour from one of the spices. Lastly, the coconut-mochi like dessert was nice touch. The meal was yummy and filling. I would recommend visiting for special occasions!

Yelp
Our visit to Kiin was a really pleasant experience. We got there for our reservation at 11:45am for their brunch experience. We visited with a couple of close friends. The host was promptly and attentive to get us seated and with menu in hand very efficiently and friendly. We all order some drinks to get started, Greg had the Thai Iced Coffee and I got their Pandan-Butterfly Pea Latte. Both drinks were beautifully presented and delicious! Good size drinks for the price, I have to admit. For our food Greg ordered the traditional Thai breakfast dish of JHOK, this was the most exciting part of our brunch experience, he liked that this was a different take on your typical Thai food. It felt fresh, authentic and very cool way to try something different, while maintaining that Thai flavour we were seeking. Me in the other hand ordered the KHAO MUN GAI which is part of the 'rice' section of their menu, for some reason I was expecting more, like a little "wow" factor to a very classic dish, but it was just a good take on fried chicken and aromatic rice, it was good, but not as worthy as our other option. Our friends both order the KHAI KRATHA and they both said that it was a different way of having eggs and pan fried Chinese sausage, but felt a little underwhelming for them. We finished our experience by ordering their Fresh Mini Donuts for the table to share and those we such a delicious and different way to end of a sweet treat. Would recommend getting all their three flavours, they can accommodate that into your order if you ask them. Their prices were fair at least for their brunch menu, we found it very comparable to other restaurants in the city. Overall our service felt real and authentically Thai. The space is really well decorated and with a good taste for Thai design. All their staff seemed knowledgeable and well verse on the menu. You can also tell their kitchen staff is determined in providing you with the best level of quality and delivery. We were able to get an intimate table, where all the four of us were able to chat and catch up comfortably, while enjoying a different take on Brunch! We will definitely need to try their dinner menu next time.

Yelp
It's been two years since Kiin's been open - and my best friend has longed for them every day. Now that they've soft reopened, she immediately made a reservation... and I had the pleasure and blessing of being her date! For their soft reopening, they are doing a Royal Thai tasting menu (until all staff are trained, etc.). My best friend misses the soft shell crab curry dearly, but we created some new favourites from this experience! We started off with the appetizer platter, a melange of one bite wonders. Our #1 was the Miang Kung, a jam packed bite of fresh and dried shrimp mixed together, wrapped in a betel leaf. It was spicy, sweet, and fishy, all at once. The Khao Tung Na Tang, some rice cake mixture with pork and shrimp, reminded me of the glutinous fried dumplings at dim sum (ham shur gok). The Pla Haeng Tang Mo, watermelon with dried fish and dried shallots, was a pleasant surprise. The earthy, jerky-like fish was balanced by the fresh watermelon, with a pungency reminiscent of watermelon feta salads. Then came our next round of richer starters. The Chor Muang, or Thai flower dumplings, were doughy - reminded me of tong yuan with peanut fillings, with a slight peppery note. Thoong Thong was a deep fried fish wonton served in a cucumber with sweet and sour sauce. This was an absolute delight, and the cucumber was surprisingly refreshing. The fish cake, or Tod Mun Goong, tasted more like a meatball, rich in lemongrass. Finally, the duck Laab was smoky and meaty - just like bacon. We each ordered a different main and shared. The Khao Soi Pad Haeng (dried khao soi) was a showstopper. It tastes so much more complex than Chef Nuit's normal khao soi at Pai. This one had great textures from the mix of noodles and such great flavour - mix of sweet, fragrant, and spicy (but be warned - the chili oil on the side is very spicy!). On the other hand, the Pad Thai Hor Kai (pad thai in egg with shrimp) was disappoint. The egg was dry, and the head of the shrimp undercooked (but the body appeared tough). It lacked in flavour relative to the amazing khao soi. We were then served an assortment of main courses. The lobster tom yum had an intense, tangy flavour and decent chunks of lobster - definitely need to tone the brightness down with bites of the Khao yum (rice salad) inbetween sips. Unfortunately, the chicken was mediocre and dry, but this was remedied by the boombai short rib. The short rib was fall off the bone tender, served in a rich sauce perfect for the crispy and unique roti to soak up. The morning glory had so much wok air - my only complaint is that the portion size was tiny!! We ended off with dessert, which sounded meh at best, but ended up being a pleasant surprise. It was like fire and ice. The sweet potato balls were effortlessly light - you couldn't tell they were fried! When dipped in the condensed milk, reminded me of the fried mantou. The water chestnuts with ice were coconut with some chewy bites of boba-like balls with crunchy water chestnut inside. The cocktails and mocktails were amazing here too! And the service impeccable - all the staff were so friendly and kind. Would highly recommend Kiin to anyone looking for the perfect date night.

Yelp
Food tastes really good. All the dishes we ordered satisfied us and made our visit worth it! It's asian food well within the pricier side but the ambiance, location, and service is worth every buck. Will definitely go back here.

Yelp
I thought I'd check in here after reading a few reviews. I absolutely loved the flavours experienced here. Prior to Kiin, I can't say that I liked Thai food that much. We ordered the tasting menu here, and so we got to try a lot of different items. I was so impressed by the presentation and the subtleties of flavours. It was a feast for the eyes and delicious but not overbearing- very sophisticated. I would definitely come back to try some more. Then I realized that the owners are a part of such a conglomerate! Congratulations- this one is your gem. Kudos and thank you. I will surely be back.

Yelp
Our party of 3 arrived for dinner, ready to fill our bellies. We started with some ok drinks, Royal Dumpling Platter, and Deep Fried Clams. The platter was something I really looked forward to try, and it was tasty for the most part. I liked the soft dumpling, and it was gorgeous and you could see the adept craftsmanship. The clams were delicious as well. Can't go wrong with deep fried anything! We shared the Smoked Duck Breast - really tasty, Pan Seared Roti - okay, Pork Jowl - okay, and Soft Shell Crab - really good. For dessert, we shared the Roti and Condensed Milk - meh, Taro Cake - meh, and Coconut Ice Cream with Pandan and Sago - great! I was excited to try out Kiin's interesting menu and it was good, but not really memorable.

Yelp
Amazing reataurant! Small portions of Northern Thai cuisine, and we decided on doing the full set menu. The location is modern with some traditional Thai decorations. Service was great, and the manager was very nice. There is a bar if you just want to have drinks with small appetizers, and there are also seats in front of the kitchen, too. The dishes were colorful, bright and packed with flavour. Best Northern Thai cuisine I've tasted, and we ate like royalty. Highly recommend going with a group of 4 or more people. Thank you Kiin for an amazing, delicious royal birthday dinner!

Yelp
Kiin is an authentic royal Thai restaurant that provides a creative and interesting dining experience. The restaurant's atmosphere is cozy and elegant, which creates a delightful ambiance for a night out. However, it should be noted that the prices are quite high, with some dishes being considerably more expensive than what you would expect to pay elsewhere. For example, the Khao Soi dish is typically much more affordable at other Thai restaurants, and at Kiin, it's significantly pricier. While the food is undoubtedly delicious and creatively prepared, the high prices may be a bit of a turn-off for some diners. Despite the high prices, Kiin is still an excellent option for those looking for an authentic Thai dining experience. The flavors are bold and authentic, like the pictured rice salad and dumplings. The restaurant's ambiance is lovely, with attentive service and a relaxing atmosphere that is perfect for an evening out with friends or family. Overall, Kiin is a great choice for those who are willing to pay a premium for a unique and high-quality dining experience. While the prices may be steep, the food and atmosphere make up for it, and it's definitely worth a visit if you're looking for an authentic royal Thai experience.

Yelp
We did the tasting menu and wine pairing and it is a very worthy experience. The food was all excellent, exceptional. Our server went above and beyond. The timing was a bit off. Sure you sign up for the experience but 3.5 hours is a long seating. Star is lost for the wine pairing. The server made it seem these were thoughtful choices and I appreciate that, but sadly - these just weren't good wines. It is a fantastic experience and I do recommend!

Yelp
As you walk into Kiin, you are greeted with a warm, inviting staff. We had a reservation and were promptly seated with our coats checked. The servers did everything they could to ensure we were away from the door so that our experience was as good as possible. The restaurant is well decorated with a warm, open ambiance that really sets the tone for the rest of the night. We chose the Sumrab Tasting menu however, they do offer a la carte options. The first 4 courses were presented individually and were unique in their own way. We have been to Pai (the sister restaurant) but still managed to find new, inventive dishes. The highlight for me was either the 2 tier appetizer course or the dry-style noodles. Each one of these dishes was carefully thought out with the servers giving a full explanation of the dish and how to fully enjoy it. Despite these dishes having an innovative twist, they still retained a strong sense of authenticity. The next course was served all at once. A strange, (and not ideal) way but nevertheless, the food was still top notch. The hot and sour soup was rich, flavourful with the lobster clearly elevating the dish. The rice salad and vegetables were delicious but not anything star striking. Still though, solid, flavourful dishes. With that course, I chose the Panang fish and my partner chose the Boombai Short rib. The Panang fish was quite well done with the current being rich and aromatic. The Boombai Short Rib was good but was a bit dry and salty. I'd recommend you choose something else however, everything else was phenomenal. Overall, exceptional service, food and a generally outstanding experience. If you do go, try to go later for a more intimate experience where the chef comes to meet you! For 250 for two people, this clearly is not an everyday restaurant but is a must try and one of the top restaurants in the Toronto area.

Yelp
The service was attentive, the room and decor is beautiful. The cocktails were inventive and delicious. We went for the full tasting menu. I was initially a little nervous as my friend has a seafood allergy. I was so impressed by the way they handled it - there were lots of good substitutions and she did not feel like she was getting less. However I think because of that we ended up with an enormous amount of food! Enjoyed the experience and will go back

Yelp
Kiin now has a fantastic brunch menu! Went there with a guess from out of town and she absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was quaint and stylish! The service was excellent as well. As for the food, I'm vegetarian and the pad khee mao tasted fantastic! Will definitely come again!

Yelp
Depends on what you are looking for as you would feel differently towards the experience. Been looking forward to trying Kiin since I live nearby and they were closed for awhile since the pandemic. Many reviews said it was expensive for the portions sizes but I thought the portions were comparable to other restaurants nearby. However, while the restaurant was not expensive for the portions, I thought it was expensive for the flavours you are tasting compared to other Thai restaurants nearby. Food presentation is great (10/10) but the flavours were hit or miss (7/10). We ordered their $90 tasing menu which came with plenty of appetizers, their noodles, and the mains. My group was full after the meal. The items were definitely unique with Thai flavours but I would not go as far to say it was much better than nearby Thai restaurants such as Pai, Khao San Road, or Koh Lipe in terms of flavour. The decor was great and overall atmosphere of the restaurant felt classy for a Thai restaraunt which is a nice change of pace. However, if you are seeking value for authentic Thai flavours, Kiin would not be the restaurant. Overall, I think Kiin is a nice-to-try restaurant but not a must-try.

Sonia T.

Yelp
Honestly, I was underwhelmed. I can't understand how this place got a spot on Canada's top 100. Over-priced. Mediocre. Lobster pad Thai - if you're going to serve a whole lobster at least provide the proper tools to crack open the shell so you're not trying to use your fingers or a fork - otherwise you're forced to leave a lot of that sweet lobster meat go to waste. Noodles were ok. $60 Grilled sea bream - this was the most pathetic dish. The fish itself was unseasoned and overcooked. I did not enjoy all of the components once they were put together - you have to take a bit of all the different elements and wrap it in a gem lettuce leave - so basically $60 for lettuce wraps. Tried their signature drink - the Pina quemada. Much ado about nothin' I'm afraid. Blah. Save your $26. Was going to order some apps until I looked over at another table. $9 for 2 fried wonton purses! There's a little bit of chicken and shrimp inside - not gold!

Matthew O.

Yelp
Went here for lunch, and loved it! Food was immaculately presented, but none of that would matter if it didn't taste good. Happy to say that everything was amazing. Very reasonable lunch prices too!

Yelp
I am very confused from all the stellar reviews, as my experience seems to be totally opposite. Perhaps it was an off night for Kiin? We came on a Saturday around 9 pm. Without a reservation, we were seated within a few minutes, and the restaurant was mostly full the entire time. Service was pretty good at the beginning. The waitress was attentive and genuine. Near the end of the meal, service was very slow and we had difficulty ordering dessert and getting the bill, even though the restaurant was less busy by then. Our original waitress was nowhere to be seen. It is really nice inside, I felt like it wasn't too cramped and the decor is quite fancy. Since I had read some reviews here beforehand, I already knew what I wanted to order. Roy Thai ($22): probably the best dish of the night. Each dumpling had elements that worked well together, taste as well as texture. They were all enjoyable and it was a good starter. And of course, the presentation was fabulous. Khao yum ($26): the most disappointing dish of the night. It is a mixed rice dish, served room temp / cold. Although it was very beautiful and had many colourful components, taste was severely lacking. It tasted mostly like leftover rice that had come from the fridge. Some bites had some soy sauce flavour, some had some crispy bits, but overall, not great. Perhaps it wasn't mixed well? I would recommend to share this portion between 5-6 people (if you were still inclined to order this), because after a few bites, I had enough. Sea bream ($38): one of the pricier but lighter mains. The fish is served full, but with bones removed except for the spine, inside a banana leaf. You are meant to put a piece in each lettuce cup with sauce. I think there could have been more sauce, since the lettuce up, vermicelli, and fish did not have too much flavour. I think this is definitely the healthy option. If you like steamed fish, you might like this. Dessert roti ($10): I saw a lot of rave reviews about this dessert. It is essentially a sheet of pastry that is deep fried until crispy and drizzled in condensed milk. I don't think this is close a traditional roti, because it is just one thin sheet of pastry, whereas roti is typically layered and flaky. There were 8 slices, so I would recommend 1-2 per person, as it is quite a heavy dessert. This was just ok. Overall, I felt like we were paying the high prices for the presentation of the food and ambiance of the place. I mean, I was already expecting to spend a lot here, which I don't mind doing if the food was really amazing. The only thing I *might* be convinced to get again is the Roy Thai. After this visit, I highly doubt I will be back.

Yelp
Honestly, quite disappointed as I expected something so much more based on the reviews on here. It was ok, but not wow. We came on a Friday evening and it felt somewhat dark inside. Not atmospheric dark, just kinda moody so the decor didn't look as extravagant as it does in the photos when they're brightly lit. We did the tasting menu and again, I can't say I was wowed by the food. Some dishes were ok, some were not so. The server we had was sweet but she didn't really know the food as well as we had expected her to. Shame really as I had high hopes for the place. I would recommend this as a casual place to dine. Maybe we would have been better off with choosing dishes from the menu.

Yelp
I love the food at Kiin. The flavors transport me back to my youth. All of the sauces remind me of the sauces that were used at home. To me, the food here is elevated comfort food that brings back a sense of nostalgia. I was sad to learn a little over a year ago that Kiin stopped lunch service, and so I rarely visit anymore. However, I try to come back when I'm downtown in the evenings. The menu has changed quite a bit. On a recent visit, I decided to order the chicken thighs with sugar snap peas. The dish was fairly large for one person and totally worth the price. The sugar snap peas were perfectly cooked. It was tender yet still had a crunch when you bite into it. The chicken thighs were also tender and encrusted with garlic. The chicken had a strong lemongrass aroma and that's what brought back the feeling of nostalgia. The dish is also quite spicy, so if you can't handle spice, this is not the dish for you. If you're looking for upscale authentic Thai food, Kiin is the place to dine.

Yelp
Went there yesterday with my wife for their tasting menu. I'm vegetarian gluten free and they were able to accommodate very easily. Started off with some cocktails that were excellent, and then dove into their tasting menu. Loved the food and the staff that were diligent in explaining what we were eating and ensuring that everything was gluten free for me. The place was busy and noisy - not unexpected for a Friday evening - but the service was still rapid and professional. One of the best Thai restaurants I've been to! Would go back again. Final bill for two including 4 cocktails was $322. Not cheap, but worth it!

Yelp
On the one hand, Kiin hits some high notes with elegant decor, and outstanding food presentation and silverware. On the other hand, Kiin hits some low notes with mediocre flavours and sky-high prices for very little food. If you're on a first date, this would be a nice place to go, so long as you're willing to splurge. If you're looking for a hearty dinner, this place is not your ticket. It's almost the complete opposite of what Thai food is intended to be - simple food, with big flavours. Anthony Bourdain must be rolling in his grave (I hope it's not too early for this sort of joke, for I truly do admire Anthony Bourdain, may he rest in peace!) Here's what we ordered: Royal Dumpling Platter: Price: $12 (for 4 little dumplings) Presentation: 5/5 Flavour: 2/5 Value: 1/5 This plate was a huge flop. On the one hand it is a stunningly beautiful dish. On the other had, the flavours are sweet on sweet with some more sweet. It had very little flavour otherwise, with no balance whatsoever. This is NOT authentic Thai cuisine which is all about balancing sweet, sour and spicy. Plus, at $12 for four little dumplings, you are not getting a bang for your buck. If you're trying to impress a lovely lady, it might be a good dish. Flavour-wise, you're not getting much more than you would out of edible flours. Chor ladda: Price: $12 Presentation: 4/5 Flavour: 1/5 Value: 2/5 These bright blue jasmine rice dumplings are no improvement on the previous dish. They are beautiful, and have a pleasant texture, but no discernible flavour any more than plane rice. Please enjoy. Mixed rice salad (vegan): Price: $24 Presentation: 5/5 Flavour: 2/5 Value: 2/5 This plate is just a little better than the previous two. On the one hand, it is again a stunningly beautiful dish. It has many components, and come deconstructed in such a way that it looks like a painter's colour palate with many bright colours. It's served in a gorgeous metal bowl. But once the server mixes it, and you taste it, it's quite bland. No flavours, no textures, not much of anything. Pandan Chicken: Presentation: 2/5 Flavour: 2/5 This dish again was a big flop. It's a tiny little piece of chicken which was marinated for far too long (resulting in very strong, almost unpleasant chicken flavour.) It was wrapped in Pandan leaf. We were told we could eat the leaf. I tried. Big mistake! I had a mouthful of inedible straw which I had to elegantly extract from my mouth in a rather posh restaurant... teehee. Chicken Stir Fry: Price: $26 Presentation: 3/5 Flavour: 4/5 Value: 3/5 This was the most successful dish of the evening. The chicken was covered in a thick gravy of lemongrass and ginger. The lemongrass was very cleverly pureed to a pulp and that made it edible, with nice flavours. It was great beautiful dish, albeit small. The absolutely best thing served was the fried bread accompaniment to the mains. It was deep fried goodness - absolutely divine. Drinks are - what can I say? - downtown prices. A cocktail would set you back $15; Hardly a good value in my books. A beer would set you back about $8. An important thing to keep in mind is the following: Many restaurants these days opt for small plates, and Kiin is no exception. It's not a bad idea, since you get to sample different dishes. However, they get away with charging high prices, without you noticing. Case and point: Yelp says that this restaurant is in the $$$ category, but it most definitely belongs in the $$$$ category. The number of dishes you would have to order in order to be satiated would easily put you in the $150 range for a dinner for two.

Yelp
Ever since my first bite (at Pai), I've been in love with Chef Nuit's food. I may even have to declare her my favourite chef. Sorry, Susur. Her flavours are rich and so perfectly balanced. At Kiin, she takes the presentation to another level. it's worth taking a close look (and several pictures) of the intricacy of each piece of food on the plate. I've been looking forward to this visit and I had the best company, JK, Sunny, May, and Fatza. We ordered just in time to take advantage of a happy hour special on cocktails, a margarita for JK and a whisky sour for me. Our first dish, Roy Thai (royal thai platter with mha hor, chor ladda, rhoom, and thoong thong), was an assortment of dumplings, each one a piece of art - the colours, the shapes, the textures, the flavours. It tasted pretty darn good! Speaking of art, the next dish, Khao Yum (jasmine rice. rice berry white turmeric, long beans, lemongrass, sawtooth coriander, kaffir lime leaves, cucumber, toasted coconut, pomelo, fried chilli, sunflower sprouts, edible flowers, tamarind and soy bean sauce), was a masterpiece. Imagine an artist's palette, with colours carefully laid out, ready to paint, that's what this reminded me of. All the wonderfully colourful ingredients, including coloured rice, were laid out individually, a masterpiece in itself. Our server gave us enough time to capture the images before blending everything into a very delicious salad. Damn, that's good! The Pork Jowl (grilled pork jowl tamarind, roasted rice, mint, roasted red chilli, Thai kale stalks) was perhaps the most flavourful dish and the meat was very tender with just the right amount of smoke. We were instructed to wrap the meat in kale before eating. OMG! The Pandan Chicken (marinated chicken wrapped in pandan leaf, sweet chilli sauce) had each piece of chicken wrapped in a leaf that had to be removed before dipping in a sweet chili sauce and eating. Other than the presentation, this was the most "ordinary" dish that we had, although ordinary is not a word I would use to describe any of this food. The food, presentation, and service were all outstanding! I was happy. Chef Nuit rocks!

Yelp
Kiin, another restaurant started by Chef Nuit. But this is different from all the other restaurants that she started up. I love the Royal treatment with everything from the decor, the menu and the presentation. Different from other Thai restaurants and definitely a more refined experience. Reservation is a MUST. And I love the fact that they takes reservation. The place is small and intimate. You might be seated really close to your neighbours. Menu is constantly changing. I do like trying different dish and this make dining so much more fun. Highly recommend Kiin for special occasion. I can't wait to be back to try out their brunch with a Thai twist!

Yelp
Dine like Thai royalty! At least that is what I imagined while eating at Kiin. Each dish was gorgeous and flavors reminded me of that from the old country. Still, price is rather steep for what you get - portions are small. Food: - Royal Thai platter with 4 types of dumplings (2 each). Not to be missed. - Khao Yum. Rice dish with cucumber, pomelo, fried chili and sprouts. This is tossed with tamarind, soy sauce and spices. The colors are dazzling and it tastes good too. - Beef short ribs. Melts off the bone and goes great with rice. - Pomelo salad - My favorite because I always like Pomelo (tastes like a sweet grapefruit). - Chuchee Tofu and mushroom - This is a veggie curry. Not really my kind of dish but my Vegetarian friend enjoyed alot. Service: Seems fine. Did not really pay attention as we were having a really good time among ourselves. Perhaps that is the best kind of service one may hope for - unobtrusive without being lacking. Other: Ambience is less "royal" - no prob. Only knocks against Kiin are the price and small serving for each dish. All in (food, taxes, 18% tip), the meal works out to approx. $50 per person. Overall: I would definitely like to return perhaps to celebrate a special occasion or birthday.

Yelp
The food was excellent - if you love Thai food but want to experience something more elevated, definitely come to Kiin! My favourite dishes by far were the Chor Ladda dumplings (the blue flower shaped dumplings) and the chicken (the name of the dish sounds so bland but it is definitely not the case when you get it in person). The Khao Yum was quite the treat as well - all of those colourful ingredients are mixed up right in front of you! -1 star for the mix up in reservations...we were seated at the bar even though we specifically chose table. That was quickly resolved, thankfully. Bathrooms were very cute (pink and girly), clean, but super cramped. Decor and ambiance overall was excellent - intimate vibes (at least at night) with vintage dishes and great cocktail accessories (loved the arrow from the Opera Glasses drink)! Service as a whole was great as well. Definitely down for coming back a second time!

Yelp
Came here once for brunch a few years ago and I still think about that meal to this day. I've been wanting to come back to try dinner and now that I did I can say without a doubt that this is one of the most delicious meals I've eaten in Toronto. The atmosphere is so relaxed and the ambiance is like a romantic candlelit dinner but don't be fooled, this place is all about QUALITY and get ready to take your taste buds on a journey of sensual flavours! Each dish takes you on a different playful experience where you will taste sweet, sour, umami and spicy notes. The royal dumpling platter includes savory and sweet dumplings, each one playing to different flavour profiles but coming together to create a coherent, wholesome dish. We had the pork jowl, which we definitely recommend. The pork is perfectly seasoned and it is sweet, salty and sour. You don't need any dipping sauces. They recommend you eat a piece of meat and then alternate with the pieces of kale but I recommend wrapping the meat in the kale and eating it like lettuce wraps, you will not be disappointed! The beef short rib is in a delicious curry characteristic of Southeast Asia. This was something that hit nostalgia as we have a similar Vietnamese dish. The coconut and turmeric in the curry has some sweet and spicy notes. The beef was perfectly cooked, succulent and fall off the bone. I recommend getting it with roti, it was deep fried and a perfect vehicle to soak up the curry! To finish off the meal, the dessert roti was recommended to us but we were eyeing it from the beginning. Oily fried roti drenched in condense milk, this is a flavour combination everyone needs to try! It would be perfect if there was some fresh fruit but still a great way to end off the meal!

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick but delicious dinner at @kiintoronto The "Royal Thai" handcrafted dumplings are their speciality! They were a great mix of sweet and savoury with authentic tropical flavours (must try if you dine here!) The seabream roasted in banana leaf, was served with lettuce wraps and Thai veggies and herbs. Was very light yet flavourful And the short rib curry was delicious, so tender it fell off the bone! And complemented the crispy naan. Great spot for innovative, modern and not-so-traditional Thai eats!

Yelp
I visited Kiin's lunch service on a Wednesday. I was able to get a seat at the bar without wait. The menu is pretty simple; you build your own noodle soup, or pick among the rice dishes. I ordered a Ma Naew (spicy, sour and peanut soup) with Sen Buk, BBQ pork. The service was friendly and the waitress gave me some good recommendation. It was a little wait for my noodle soup to arrive, but I could tell the reason because they made the soup and noodle fresh. The wait was totally worth it because the Ma Naew soup was very aromatic and well balanced between the spicy and sour flavourful. I drank it all at the end. The BBQ pork was tender and juicy. The lady next to me ordered the Yen Tao Fo with Sen Yai (flat rice noodle) was so aromatic and looked very tasty. I will order it next time. In conclusion, Chef Nuit never disappoints. Although the price point ($14) is a little high for a bowl of noodle soup, the quality is worth that price point. And the restaurant decor is so beautiful and classy. It will be a perfect for lunch / dinner dates.

Yelp
I really like Pai, so when I heard the same chef opened Kiin, I was excited to check it out! I came here for lunch and a few weeks later for dinner. Both times the food were good but the price point is also higher than Pai. Bonus is the cute mid-century modern decor which I loved! Lunch - ordered the Tom Yum Soup with chicken and bunched noodles. Great flavours, a solid Tom yum. Chicken was tender too! Definitely filling enough for lunch, especially because you are supposed to drink the soup! But by the time I was done eating all the chicken and noodles, I was already too full to drink all of the soup! Dinner - royal thai platter is a must for appetizer, really enjoyed trying the four different kinds of Thai dumplings, all uniquely flavoured! For mains, we shared the khao yum, gaeng boombai , and kua hang gai. My favourite was the gaeng boombai which is short rib beef in something like curry. The beef falls off the bone and the sauce was amazing. We ordered some rice berry (sort of like purple rice) on the side, and those were some super awesome tasting rice, like I can eat it alone. I didn't really like the taste of kua hang gai, but that's just my personal taste. Overall great dinner! Would just recommend them to add more options to the dessert menu because right now they only have roti with condensed milk.

Yelp
Kiin was definitely an experience. Came here with a few girl friends for dinner on Monday evening. We arrived before the dinner rush so it was nice to see what the place looked like. Sure it's not large like other dinner values but it is beautiful. The drinks look just as good as they taste. Anything from alcoholic to non alcoholic to Kombucha. I strongly recommend the Iced Teas. Everything is meant to be shareable. They have recommendations based on group sizes but you're obviously welcome to get whatever your heart contents. We started with the mussels which were AMAZING. I think the added ewas the sauce that came with it. We also got to Roy Thai dumpling platter. The flavours were really refreshing and paired quite well. Then we had the Sea Bream. Added bonus is that they take out the fish bones and leave nothing but meat and ginger and garlic near the head. Again, they provide that green sauce to pour over the fish when you eat it with the lettuce leaves. Kua Hang Gai + jasmine rice was suppose to best of the best. However, my friend and I felt a little underwhelmed by the dish. It had nothing memorable to it. It lacked flavours and spices. I didn't even have a tang of spicy which was unfortunate since that what we were looking forward to most. Although the chicken dish didn't live up to OUR expectations doesn't mean it won't for you. It's definitely a place to try at least once. I do plan to return and try other dishes on the menu. Overall, our experience was a very positive one. The decor was beautiful. Even the bathroom theme was memorable. I liked the stall's door knobs. The service is top line. So be sure to tip your server what they deserve. It's a lot of work remembering everything on the menu.

Yelp
Royal appetizer was our favourite thing to order. Not ideal for sharing because you get four tiny but delicious assorted pieces. Our favourite piece was the small wonton. I wanted 100 more after! We also ordered the Mieng Pla (Sea salt-crusted whole sea bream with Thai garlic, Thai basil, finger mint, peanut, ginger, shallot, and lime in Thai kale leaves) - This dish was light and refreshing. Nothing was wrong but it missed the spot for me. It wasn't my cup of tea. Sometimes your bite can be quite salty. But our favourite main was the savoury Gaeng Boombai Nua (Braised AAA Wellington County beef short rib with tamarind, field cucumber, and pearl onions). When it comes to our mains, savoury is the way to go. It was tender and fall off the bone. Even the way it looked with a giant bone looked majestic! The place was beautifully decorated. I'd like to try this alcoholic drinks next time. It was pretty.

Yelp
If you're a Thai Food lover, you would be familiar with the husband and wife team Chef Nuit & Jeff Regular's empire of Thai restaurants in downtown Toronto namely Sukhothai, Pai, Sabai Sabai and the new restaurant Kiin. Kiin which means 'eat' in Thai occupies where Khao San Road is situated before. Upon entering the restaurant, you will be greeted in Thai by a very nice and friendly host. You can already tell this is no ordinary Thai restaurant judging by how the interior looks. The place itself is so lush and gorgeous with marbled floors, glass shutters and gold accents everywhere. It also looks more spacious as compared to when it was Khao San Road. The lunch menu is very limited which consist only of three choices in different categories such as Snack, Soup, Salad, Rice, Noodle, Curry. I decided to try a noodle dish, Pad See Ew to see if they taste authentic - and damn right it is! They got it right with the sauce, perfect balance of salty and sour. It has also has a wonderful chargrilled flavour from a result of continuous high heat cooking. And the Sen Yai noodles - so fresh and chewy. I just wish they would give you more of the noodles as the dish has more veggies and chicken than noodles. My SO ordered the Tom Yum Gai with Konjac Noodles. Konjac Noodles if you're not familiar is also known as the 'Wonder Noodle' because it has no starch so it's no fat, low carb, low cal and gluten free. Be warned that they don't ask you for the spiciness level and it is a little bit spicy. But boy it was good! The broth has all the exotic Thai flavours and the chicken was so tender. This is comparable or even better to the Thai street foods we ate in Bangkok. If you also like Pandan, you should try their Pandan Ice Tea. It's not sweet but with the addition of pandan leaves, this drink is so fragrant and I really enjoyed it. Although it's pricier compared to other Thai resto, the portions are huge and they don't skimp on the ingredients. Plus if you want quality food, the price doesn't really matter. Once again, the Regular's have proven that when it comes to authentic Thai food nothing beats them. You don't even have to travel to Thailand to eat authentic Thai food since Toronto has the best Thai restaurants! I will surely come back here to try their dinner menu and also to recommend this restaurant to friends and families.

Yelp
It's cool to see the transformation of the space from Khao San Road to have more of a light and royal concept in Kiin. Chef Nuit Regular, her husband Jeff, and the Kiin staff are so friendly and welcoming. I had such a great time at Kiin. I liked these dishes: Yum Tua Plu ($15) - wing beans Khao Yum ($24) - red thai rice, tamarind yellow, and butterfly powder green Great for veggie lovers Mieng Pia ($32)- kale, gem lettuce, pomelo, vermicelli, thai finger haw, salted coriander, mint, peanut, and thai basil Pandan Iced Tea and the hand-made chips (taro, beet, sweet potato seasoned with lime and tom yum powder) are amazing and a must-try! I have a mild peanut allergy so be careful when choosing dishes on the menu! I had a delightful time here despite that and would come back for the chips

Yelp
There's a relatively uncharted niche of Thai cuisine that's landed in Toronto by way of Kiin--Royal Thai. Royal Thai is just what it sounds like. It's opulent. It's elevated. And most importantly, it's delicious. Kiin, meaning "eat" in Thai, is a partnership between Jeff Regular and Nuit Regular, the husband and wife team behind Toronto's rapidly expanding Thai empire (Pai, Sabai Sabai, Sukhothai), and Janet Zuccarini (Gusto 101, Trattoria Nervosa, Pai). Nuit Regular was raised in Thailand and always dreamed of opening a restaurant where she could share her love of this opulent and less common form of Thai cuisine with others. Through Kiin's menu, she has elevated the Thai staples we have come to know (think: satays, Pad Thai, curries) in an intimate lower-level space that is more mature and refined that its sister restaurants. Kiin incorporates familiar flavours of traditional Thai cuisine (lemongrass, kaffir lime, coconut, coriander) and even imports nearly all of its ingredients from Thailand to perfect the flavour profile of each dish. Unlike some of the Regular's other restaurants, Thai street food is absent from this menu. Kiin has a sharable, interactive menu that showcases food fit for a king (or a queen in my case...). It's a curation of Royal Thai favourites as well as dishes from Nuit's childhood. I had the pleasure of meeting the Regulars while I was dining there one evening. For owning a mini empire of restaurants, the couple is humble, gracious and hospitable. Nuit shared a story about how the yum tua plu (wing bean salad) was once a secret recipe that was exclusive to the Thai royal family's staff. She spent several years in culinary school to learn more about her native cuisine and honed the recipes that are now being enjoyed at Kiin. My guest and I put all of our decisions in the hands of our lovely server, who seemed to have another gig as an actress. Her storytelling was on point and she described each dish with detail as it was presented to us. There were far more standouts than mishaps.

Yelp
Ok so this place was something I was looking forward to all week! The food presentation and combinations were amazing and delicious. The bartender made the best drinks with lovely combos and yet more great presentation. I would 100000% recommend going here. It ls a small restaurant so be sure to make a reservation, if you get there early they may not have seating for you and the only fall back was the hostess wasn't trained properly - we waited over 25 mins to be seated when there were empty tables. This place is not your average Thai menu, it's authentic and the chefs story is so inspirational.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday night and the restaurant was packed. We had a reservation therefore we were seated immediately. Similar to the old khao san road set up, there's a dining area and a bar. The interior is pretty and instagrammable. Kiin is brought to you by the same people behind Pai but the dishes served here are unique in Toronto. They are inspired by the northern Thai cuisine and you can't find any curry or pad thai on the menu. Our server suggested ordering three to five small dishes and two to three large dishes for the three of us as the dishes are meant for sharing. My favourite was the royal Thai platter. It came with four different dumplings. The flavours were unique and they were almost too pretty to eat. My personal favourite was the purple one with jasmine rice filling. Highly recommended! We also tried the grilled pork jowl with kale stalks, khao yum jasmine rice, and the chicken stir fry. Everything tasted good and but the khao yum was a little too spicy (even my native Thai friend found it too spicy). Overall, great food and great service. Will come back to try other dishes and their lunch menu.

Yelp
I wasn't sure what to expect as my only exposure to Thai food are the typical Pad Thai, and curries that we are so spoilt by our options here in Toronto. In my mind I was thinking an expensive Thai place- what should I bed expecting? But am I glad we tried this place! The service was fantastic as our server went through the menu with us and gave some recommendations. The food here is similar to tapas where everything we ordered we shared. There was a 80 dollar price fix menu where I think it would have been good bang for your buck but my group decided to order a la carte. We started off with the dumplings - these were beautiful in presentation and each one tasted amazing. We then had a rice salad dish which was presented beautifully. Next up we had the sea bream which was my favorite dish of the night. The fish was beautifully cooked and came with these little lettuce wraps that you could use- carefully of the chili though it's spicy!!! We then had a pomelo salad as a palate cleaner before we had the short ribs and pork jowl. I would skip the pork jowl but the short ribs was flavorful and paired great with rice and roti. Make sure you book a table! We were a party of 3 and even though we booked a few days beforehand we were seated at the bar-which was fine but not ideal for a group of 3.

Yelp
The brunch here is unreal! Kiin Toronto does Thai fusion the right way. Literally so amazing! I've been for dinner and loved every dish, so decided to go try the brunch. I love how they take traditional dishes and give them a Thai spin. Everything we ordered was phenomenal: EGGS BENNY: Served with Thai hollandaise, deep fried basa fish, and pickled veggies. This was probably my fave dish, but it's so hard to choose! COCONUT WAFFLES: made with Jasmine rice flour, topped with exotic fruit such as dragon fruit and mango. Served with coconut cream OMELETTE: Not what we expected but super delicious. It is basically bits of omelette that are DEEP FRIED and served on rice. So good!! DUMPLINGS: I love the dumplings at Kiin. They're so pretty AND delicious. These ones they serve at brunch are filled with peanut and ginger, my fave! They also serve a dumpling platter during dinner, with a bunch of different types.
