I am a Kika’s hair design client for years. The owner Ana is very professional, social, friendly and makes her clients feel very special. The staff members are also friendly and the environment has positive vibes and energy. The salon is well organized and kept clean with modern beauty tools/equipments. If you looking for a special hair stylist, I highly recommend to reach out and schedule an appointment with any one of her staff members/hair stylists.

The stylists here are seasoned pros and have operated here for 24 years! The stylist has been doing hair for 40+ years and was very skillful. She knew exactly what I was going for and was also very efficient (other places would stab my head with 30 hairpins) and got the look completed with minimal pinning. The products used were nice as well. She was also careful not to mess up my makeup which I had just got done before the appointment. She can do wedding hair and updos as well. Studio was clean and open. Overall great experience.

Beyond thrilled with the results! Lamarr is awesome — I haven’t gotten a good haircut in a while — this haircut is pretty great! Everyone is so nice, too. Highly recommend!

Kika and her amazing staff take their time with your hair. They have educated me a great deal on how to repair my processed hair and also listen to my input when planning my next styles/cut. I love coming here!

I went to get men's hair cut for my long hair. The hairdressers were very professional, gave me the perfect fade on the sides and cut the exact length I asked for. Felt understood as well as I was told the exact steps they would take and gave suggestions as well. It's a small salon but every efficient (I was done in about 40 minutes for a cut, shampoo and blowout!) and normal prices for LIC (cost me only $50 not including tips which must be in cash). Walk ins are not allowed, must make an appointment which isn't too bad. Definitely will go back.

I've been going to Kika for about 2 years now and I am so grateful I found them! Before that, I spent two years trying to find a good hair salon after moving to NYC in 2019, and there was a lot of disappointment. I've gone to both Ana and Leah, and they are both great. And everyone at the salon is so personable - they really get to know you and your hair. I get a Brazilian Blowout done about every three months, which is a precise and time-consuming process. Any other place I tried in NYC before finding Kika would have me out in an hour and a half and the quality never compared to what I get at Kika. I had two wonderful hairstylists in the last two places I lived and I missed them terribly when I first moved to NYC. I knew how the treatment was supposed to look on my hair, and every place I tried here would rush it and skip steps. I think I nearly cried the first time I walked out of Kika because I knew I had found the right home for my hair in NYC. I can't recommend them enough.

Anna and Amparo are literal gems.I have been going to Ana for curly hair cuts for the past 8 years. She has magical hands and is an expert at dealing with all types of hair as she also cuts my friends hair as well. The salon is conveniently located and super clean. Anna has been able to make my hair grow again and also cuts it in a way that gives it volume and makes my hair loss less apparent. Amparo gives the best scalp massages while washing my hair and both are super sweet and professional. I cannot recommend this salon enough. Make sure to call ahead of time to book an appt as they are usually booked, but will do their best to accommodate you.

I had a great experience! I really want to support and stick with my neighborhood spots and I am so happy things turned out great. I went in for a single process and Leah took very good care of me. She matched my color well and even told me what she mixed. Rare!! Her application was impecable. She was cheerful, polite and super professional. I was in great hands. Thanks Leah! Also.. Great hair cuttery in LIC. I would recommend Lamar, sweet man and amazing with hair. Kind of expensive but what isn't in ny. A blow out is always worth the money!!!

I finally stopped into Kika after passing it every day on my walks. I was able to quickly get an appointment (called and got an appointment for the next morning). When I arrived, it was clear that they are following Covid guidelines and precautions very well. As a very Covid conscious person, I felt relieved and safe. Everyone was also very friendly. Lamar took care of me and he was excellent. He was prompt, thorough, knowledgeable, and very friendly. I will definitely be back again and would recommend Kika and Lamar to anyone.

Leo at Kika Hair did an amazing job on my haircut. I asked for a short bob and he did it really well. I got so many compliments already! Will definitely be going to him in the future. The service was good - I was offered refreshments when I came in and someone also put away my hat and made sure it was taken care of. It was also clean and the space was open and bright. Thanks!

Have gotten great color and keratin from Leah! She is an artist. But not only that all the staff are very talented and more importantly welcoming and supportive. I am so lucky that this salon is in my neighborhood. Please don't ever leave.

Great experience! I called to make an appointment and I was accommodated a few hours later. The salon is clean and nice, nothing too fancy but just perfect for the location and my need of a quick haircut adjustment. The guy who washed and did my hair was wonderful, polite, and follow my instruction/desire. I showed him a few pictures and he was on it. He took his time and actually cut my hair with scissor and comb (recently I keep seeing dressers using machines on women too, and it's so unprofessional.) I am sad I didn't remember his name. 5 stars, I will definitely go back, since I finally found a salon that is affordable and cut well hair! ($85 + tip.)

I have been visiting my family at LIC, discovered this place through Yelp and love it when i saw all great reviews. Today, first time I visited and I am so so happy with their service and expertise. Leah did an amazing job with my haircut and immediately understood what I want. We got rod off all damaged/splitted hair with a nice style. Definitely, I will be visiting every time when I come to LIC. I showed her what I want to do with highlights/balayage, and she will make it happen. Thanks guys. I got a haircut a few months ago here. A precise dry cut. It looked like art then and still looking fresh now! Hoping to come in to try color soon.

William did a great job on my hair cut. My hair feels healthy and fresh. I will be returning again. Staff is also very friendly and polite.

Very happy with this place! Staff all very pleasant, offered coffee while I waited. My appointment was with Will, I came in with extremely damaged hair with about six months of roots. I wanted to make the color cohesive and trim the damage away without losing too much. He listened to everything I said and asked some questions to clarify. His style is very "organic" in the fact that he just jumps in and created magic! Not a typical "beauty school" technique which at first was a bit scary but SO SO WORTH IT. Everything turned out better than I dared hope. Thanks Kika team!

I'm hoping that they fix it but I'm super SUPER upset with my hair. I asked for balayage...which is a really natural looking highlight situation that uses depth and different lengths to create a look that looks like your hair is sun-kissed over time. I received very basic...very chunky highlights (that are actually BRIGHTER near my scalp). It's terrible. I look like a teenager that tried to do her own highlights (and poorly). I have to go into work tomorrow and I am mortified. I'm hoping that they will fix it...and I'll update this, if they do.

I've been coming here for at least a couple years. Ashli is honestly a genius with scissors, not to mention one of the sweetest people I've met! I wanted to write a good review much earlier, but considering the events of the past couple months, I think a 5-star review is even more warranted now. I recently moved and Kika is now a bit out of the way for me. I urgently needed a haircut a couple months ago, so decided to take my chances on a salon right by my new place. I feel like I paid the price for that mistake - bad haircut and a sloppy color job that was also way too dark. Long story short, I got fed up with forcing myself to like my hair... and went back to Ashli, who took me back with absolutely no judgement! Just as before, she gave me a gorgeous cut that fit what I wanted, works well with my hair texture (wavy-curly), holds its shape and stays out of my face. As with my previous haircuts with Ashli, I walked out of the salon feeling like a million bucks, and have been getting compliments daily. In addition to the amazing Ashli, the rest of the staff have always been lovely and welcoming. The space is bright, clean and beautiful. The pricing is absolutely reasonable for the NYC area and for the quality that you're getting (please keep it this way, Kika!) I'm going in again this coming weekend to get the color fixed - looking forward!

Needed a new place to get my haircut in the neighborhood. My wife goes here and really likes it, and after reading the positive reviews, I decided to make an appointment. To keep it brief, overall the experience was great (head massage during hair wash? Yes, please). Leaving I was very happy with my cut. However, once I got home my wife was startled to see the back of my head. It's a complete hatchet job. As a coworker so eloquently put it, "it looks like your buddies were fucking with you when you passed out." This may just not be a good place for men to get their haircut. It's unfortunate, because the rest of the cut is fine and I had an enjoyable experience. But the fact that a professional would A) do this and B) allow a client to walk out like this is not a good look. Pun intended. Now onto another area salon to try and get it fixed. Will not be returning.

I decided to try this place because it had decent reviews and had last minute availability. The place itself doesn't really have the aura of a high end place (although they do charge high end prices for Queens). The male stylist who cut my hair was pleasant enough, but he completely disregarded what I asked for, and towards the end made me feel rushed. If I am paying $100 for a haircut (with tip), I expect much better service. I had been growing out layers for years, and I specifically told him that and asked him just to trim the ends (one inch tops). Instead, he cut my layers, effectively setting back years of progress where I had grown them out, and I had to tell him multiple times to trim my bangs. He seemed anxious to get to his next customer. I will not be back, and unfortunately for me, my hair will take years to grow out this mess .

Ok, so where do I begin. Safety precautions check, friendly check! William, you had no fear taking my hair disaster and turning it into a work of art. I feel so confident when I'm out. Thank you so so much and I will return.

What can I say!!! I love my girl Leah at Kika! I have been coming here for years. I won't go anywhere else. She is an intelligent and creative stylist. She puts so much thought and consideration into your hair and your "look." I look forward to my appointments every time I go! Leah, as well as the entire staff, take such good care of me--as well as my two girls!

Just had my hair done by William at Kika salon. I moved to Long Island city in December and didn't have my hair colored or cut in 4 months. William was great knew just what to do. He gave me a touch up, highlights and a haircut. I am so happy with the result, feel like a knew woman. Thanks William and Kika salons great staff. Will be back.

I went here a few months ago after moving to this area, and I just wasn't impressed. The stylist didn't take a lot of time to ask how I wanted my hair or how I normally wear it. She cut and blow dried it with a middle part without even asking - I haven't parted my hair in the middle for over a decade. For the price I expected a bit more personalized attention. I'll try somewhere else for my next cut.

I have been growing my hair out for a while and needed a simple trim. Leah talked me into some small layers which ended up being two to three inches of un-balanced cuts that do not not look natural. What's worse is she didn't acknowledge that I part my hair on the side and instead cut both sides to the same length. When I told her after that I part it to the side, she fixed the part, but then it was obvious that one side was too short and she acted like it was just fine. Clearly you need to figure out where the part is BEFORE you start cutting. I even waited two weeks to write this review, hoping it would grow out better and it's still readily apparent that I had an awful haircut.

I got my hair done here a while ago when I moved to LIC and was looking for a new hair salon. While the hair stylist was great and really easy to talk to, for me it just wasn't worth the price they were charging for a simple style and haircut. I had a great experience but unfortunately won't be back.

This review is long overdue...I've been coming here for 5 years. I'm so happy with the friendly salon staff and Leah's cuts that although I now live in Jersey City, I make the trip: I won't even consider letting anyone else near my head with scissors. Leah has a great eye, listens to what you say, and I always get a beautiful haircut for what I feel is a reasonable price for the area. I have a good friend who is a former hairdresser and very chic. She approves, so what else is there to say?

I went to Kika for my first time today, and I was really impressed. They are being so proactive and respectful with creating a safe space for haircuts, with required masks, check-in paperwork, dividers and a no-blow dry policy. I saw Leah and explained to her what I wanted and she got it immediately and did a beautiful job. Super warm and friendly too. I will definitely be coming back!!

Came here because I just moved to LIC and needed a good hair salon close by and this place had great Yelp reviews. Leah did an amazing cut, I haven't been this happy with a haircut in my 5 years living in the city. Highly recommend!

I called on a Friday afternoon for a same-day appointment and they were able to fit me in 30 minutes later. I walked in with very long unmanageable hair and walked out with a fabulous haircut. I let Ashley know I wanted a change and she made some recommendations and walked me through the process. She was great conversation while cutting and styling my hair. I normally wear my hair straight, but she showed me a new way to curl it which is so easy and fast now that it's short. I absolutely love my haircut!

I had the BEST experience here last night. I really meant to get my hair done awhile ago, but it just didn't happen. I called Kika to ask if they could please please please squeeze me in, and Ashli agreed to stay late to do my trim and highlight. First of all, I walk in and she sees that I'm clearly flustered from racing to get there on time (and, I was still 15 minutes late). She brought me a biscotti and a coffee and instantly put me at ease. She was so unbelievably efficient - she got the foil done fast, but it didn't feel like she was rushing at all. She was talkative, but not so chatty that it seemed like she wasn't paying attention to what she was doing, or sharing too much of her personal life (you know how those people can be...). Perfect balance. She was efficient with the cut too - no need to over-engineer taking a couple inches off - and then while she was styling it I mentioned that I suck at doing hair and that I seriously need a class to learn how to do it. She then turned the blow dryer off so I could hear her and explained exactly what she was doing and why she was doing it and what various products she used were, etc. She didn't push a single product on me, just literally took 10 extra minutes on a Friday night and taught me how to blow out my hair. Too. Friggin. Awesome. It was $150 for a trim and half highlight, which you really can't beat. I don't know if I've ever been SO happy with a haircut before. Everyone in the place was nice and friendly - it was clean and nice, without a pretentious vibe at all - and it's such a convenient location. I didn't really know what to expect, since I was going off my roommate's review and what's here on Yelp, and it was just such a great experience. I recommend this place with zero hesitation to anyone!

Came to Kika Hair Design for a hair cut with William and he was spectacular! I have thick, unruly, frizzy/curly hair that was in dire need of a haircut and shape. William was excellent! I highly recommend and will definitely be back again to see him!

I took the plunge and cut my waist long hair to a bob, and choose Kika because I had heard great things around the 'hood. I am very, very pleased with the result, and would recommend Leah to all and sundry. She listens, discusses (most important in a stylist) and only then will begin snipping. She paid attention to someone who was making a big change, and that mattered to me. The salon itself is clean, smells nice and looks great, with huge mirrors propped up on the floor. They keep appointment times but since I've never had a mani/pedi there, left out a star. Overall reasonable rates and once again, great stylist in Leah.

Ana is truly an artist! She has such a warm personality and takes great pride in the beautiful work she does. I've been going to her for years and am so happy I found Ana at Kika. Her sister is also very sweet. Highly recommend!

One of the best salons that I've ever been to!! Ana just gets it right, you really need to cut and/or color with her! I have to say that I am pretty picky with my hair. I am blonde, but over the years my hair is getting darker, kind of dirty blonde look. So I've been coloring and doing high lights since my early 20s (Back in Brazil, my home country!). I moved to US 4 years ago and since then I coudnt find a place to color my hair. I went to more than 5 different salons, I am not kidding, and all of them did a terrible job. And to cut, OMG, I can literally say that I had people that destroyed my hair... you know, my hair is straigh and extremelly thin, so layers dont work with me at all, but even me asking them to not do it, they would put layers some how.... horrible. But with Ana things were different. Before she works with you, she wants to know what you want, your expectations, etc. It is a real consultation. And guess what? The results were exactly the way that she said it would be. I got a light color, just the way that I always wanted and my hair is on my shoulders, little shorter for the spring/summer, with long bangs. My hair looks amazing and I've been getting lots of complements since then. Thank you soooo much Ana!!!

Salon is good but they are so expensive. I paid $40 for my short hair blow dry. It was the first time , wont be second . Instead of ripping your customer look at the range for blow dry Other salon next to KIKA , blow dry only $25.

Just came from my second appointment with Ashli at Kika and within a few minutes a man I'd never met before complimented my hair! When does that happen? Well, the compliments come often after I see Ashli! At my first visit Ashli and I talked about some changes to my current color and cut. I lightened from a dark auburn to a brighter red and she added highlights, along with a great layered cut and bangs. We came up with a long-term hair plan to help me deal with my ever-increasing grays. Hubby loved it (phew!), and even suggested I go back for a root touch up rather than do it myself (I may have made poor color choices in the past). With his encouragement I scheduled this recent visit with Ashli. Not only is she a skilled and creative artisan with hair as her canvas, she is friendly and kind. I walked in stressed, but after a good dose of Ashli's joy (and a solid lesson on how to blow dry my hair like she does it), I walked out feeling like a million bucks (but not having paid a million bucks!). Guess it showed, too.

First time customer~ Just Trimming hair for $70???? That's ridiculous. I live in the neighborhood and need s hair dresser who I can go back every 2 weeks... I guess I need to keep searching

Anna is a miracle worker!!! My hair was just plain blah, disaster! Instead of blond it was a mixture of red, brown, yellow and blond. And don't get me wrong, I always went to an expensive hair salon to get my hair done but noone took the time to understand the structure of my hair (it takes a ling time for my hair to catch color). Instead Evernote is just preoccupied with turning clients! Anna spent hours on my hair today and OMG! Its just the way I always wanted it to be. And btw, besides being a great hairdresser she is a really sweet person! Home run for me!!!

I have come back several times for hair cuts and have always been pleased. Today, however, I finally stopped in for the $25 mani/pedi deal (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and can't believe I waited so long! I had a fantastically relaxing pedicure and superb manicure! What's more, I called this morning and they were able to do both just a few hours later. It was a great way to spend my lunch hour. My feet feel great and my nails look so great. I was SO happy with my services today and as usual, all of the ladies were supremely friendly. Thanks so much! I love having Kika so close to home and will definitely be coming back on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays in the future. I can't wait to bring my friends, too!

Paln in advance. This place is usually booked solid on weekends and the prices are pretty reasonable. During the week you can sometimes call and get same day service. Walk-in? Ahh... you could fugheddiboudit! Punctual, nice staff, great service every time.

They did a fantastic job doing a color correction and haircut. I walked in with several home hair dyes that needed correcting. I recently went through chemo and radiation. Though I did not loose my hair I had a bald spot and need a hair cut that hid this but still looked good on my already short hair. I could not be more pleased. Staff was kind and fun. They did an amazing job on the color and cut. I walked out feeling like a million bucks.
