Kiki's Chicken and Waffles

My spouse and I had dinner here this afternoon and I cannot say that I enjoyed my experience. Although the food was hot and was served to us in less than 15 minutes, the good aspects do not outweigh the bad. My chicken wings were very salty and tasted like the grease they were fried in was burnt and old, and the Belgium waffle was bland. My husband’s chicken (leg, wing, breast and thigh) appeared to have been cooked in newer grease. My food was served about 6 minutes before my spouse plate came out, so I waited until he received his. My preference would have been to have our plates brought to us at the same time. We were given plastic ware which I thought was very tacky especially since we were dining in and our food was served on plates. Even the Waffle House uses silverware! The floor under our table was very, very sticky leaving me to wash the bottom of my shoes when I got home. The table was sticky, the syrup container had syrup running down the side. Our window was dirty and nasty, and it was very warm inside of the restaurant although it was extremely hot outside. I was very disappointed spending $50.00 in this grimy establishment! It needs a thorough cleaning! It is too overrated with the television ads and all and it is not worth the money! I have no plans to visit this restaurant again. The one positive thing I do have to say is that our waitress, Kayla was phenomenal. 🧡

My cousin was graduating and we wanted something good near by. The food here was really good and freshly prepared. The only thing was my cousin got a sweet potato waffle but it really tasted like a spice waffle. She even asked the waitress and cook and they stated that, that’s what their sweet potato waffle taste like. It was good it just didn’t give sweet potato.

While traveling, my family had to try out Kiki’s after seeing it highly reviewed online and in magazines. We arrived late for lunch(nearly 2), but the restaurant seemed to have only one working server and a bar tender for a large space. He was an excellent server, though the restaurant was very busy and he was overworked. Honestly, the restaurant had a very bad smell, but we were seated close to the restrooms. We’re troopers though, so we went for it and the food was wonderful! We tried the fried okra, Mac and cheese bites, corn bites, chicken and waffles, wings and shrimp and grits. All was delicious! So if you go, I recommend the food for takeout🤪

We got the breakfast combo, the mama b's with a sweet potato waffle and the sweet potato souffle. Everything was delicious. The eggs in the combo were perfectly cooked not running and not over cooked, the bacon had just a little crunch without being burnt and the waffle was sweet and was almost like a s'more being sweet and creamy with just a little crunch. The fried chicken was juicy and crispy with good seasoning. The sweet potato waffle was different from the regular but it did not taste sweet potato like. Warning, the service was extremely slow, which wouldn't have been a big deal except it felt like a refrigerator inside.

I was in town for a leadership conference and was referred here by a local. Kiki’s did not disappoint! I was sitting with a large party and we were well accommodated. I ordered the fish and grits with cheese and it comes with a buttermilk biscuit. Everything was seasoned to perfection. My meal didn’t need hot sauce, but I added a little bit just because I like my food spicy.

I got the check and French toast. I should have asked for the French toast "well done" it was a little to soggy for me but the flavor was there. The CHICKEN! 10 stars. Can't wait to go back and try their soulfood. My waitress was extremely pleasant.

My class had our 40th Class Reunion and had lunch here. This is my first time eating here and the Shrimp and Grits with the Chicken Quesadilla where excellent 😋. Despite the, "HICCUPS" (WERE NONE), If I had a issue the taste of the food cleared up any issues. They handled our large party without a reservation, so KUDOS to the staff 🫡. I was finished eating before some in our group were served 😂. Not funny, but DELICIOUSLY FUNNY 🤣🤣🤣

I cannot say enough good things about this place. It’s hard to impress me with chicken and waffles, but this place did it. I live in Charleston and was in Columbia for work and had lunch here. Not only was the food amazing, but we were greeted by almost every employee. We all felt welcomed and cared for as if we were at their home for dinner. I truly wish Kiki’s all the success and blessings you deserve for all locations. I will be back!

The chicken perfect. MacNCheese and greens alright. But they forgot my corn muffin. So my food was cold by the time I was ready to eat. We also had ribs. Falling if the bone. Like the mustard based sauce. The customer service was excellent even though it was packed. Our server was very nice and accommodating considering we were a party of 13. Came all the way from Sacramento, CA., for Ft. Jackson graduation. Enjoyed my stay. See you next time.!

The food was just ok. The service was good. I liked my waitress. However I had to get paper towels from the bathroom twice to clean my table. Literally sat forward once and my shirt got sticky stuff all over it. I had smothered pork chops. The gravy tasted like it was out of a can. It wasn't good. I didn't eat my second one. I also got honey wings. Those were ok. I'm actually partial to honey chicken and these were ok. I would eat them again but not sure I would eat at this particular location again.

WORTH ITTT!!! This was my first restaurant that I tried in SC, im from Houston Texas so i honestly didn't have high hopes, nor am I a fan of chicken in waffles but it wasn't far from my brothers army base so it was where we ended up. As soon as we walked in we were greeted so highly, you would of literally thought the president walked through the doors! Our host, a very sweet young man, accompanied my family without me ever having to tell him our needs! ( it was greatly appreciated) the menu had lots of options but again we were in South Carolina so I didn't have high hopes... WHEN I TELL YOU THIS WAS SOME OF THE BEST CHICKEN & BBQ RIBS I've EVER had !!!!! Literally food was 10/10 everything was cooked PERFECTLY!! Literally no complaints! It's a 15hr drive for me but honestly I would probably make the drive just for the food! So amazing! And amazing staff! The way we're treated just made it 10x better. This is what it's like to go to a restaurant! Like the true meaning of going out to eat and enjoying it!

Just like I remembered! Haven't been in years and wanted to hang out with my son. We got the lunch special 1/2 waffle 3 wings $9.99. Was greeted as soon as we walked in the door and she was also our server. VERY attentive. Food came out QUICK! Piping hot fried chicken and crispy but fluffy on the inside waffle!! We'll be back!!

Idk how yall gave this place more stars...nothing is seasoned...hot sauce couldn't even save the chicken...definitely will not be coming back...salmon was over cooked...mashed potatoes were good...the coffee was cold...no matter how many times the waiter came with now coffee it was cold

My 12 years old son and I just visited Forward City Church and we were looking for a good brunch spot. We stumbled upon Kikis Chicken Waffles. It was a very short wait even though the resturant was pretty full. At first, we were not happy because the table were we sat, was not wiped down. The server was great and immediately cleaned the table when asked. We had the Chicken wings and waffles, the appetizer shrimp and grits, and a side of greens. Overall, everything was delicious with a few complaints. The greens were a little salty and the wings were not crispy. Besides that, I was happy and would return.

Upon arriving we were greeted and escorted to our booth. The parklane location has a very large seating area. The place was very clean and welcoming. They also have a stage, but no longer use it. Our server Jenae was amazing! She was patient, gave recommendations, considerate and interacted with us to ensure we were pleased with everything. Great customer service! We ordered different items sausage, chicken and waffles, pancakes, grits and hash browns with a strawberry mimosa carafe (delicious). The grits were bland and had too much liquid, but other than that, everything was very very good.

Seven of our ROMEO lunch group went here yesterday for lunch. Only one of us had previously eaten at Kiki's, so it was a new experience for the group. Each of us orders a different entree. Smothered Pork Chops, Smothered Chicken, Fish Sandwich, Soul Food Chicken dinner, Chicken Sandwich, Shrimp and Grits and a Chicken and Waffle dinner. Upon entering at 11:30 there seemed to be a "musty" smell, almost as if someone had just mopped the floor. That was our first impression. We were seated and our waiter moved tables to accommodate the group. He was prompt, friendly and very courteous. He took and remembered our orders from memory and didn't miss a beat! The food was great. Every single one of. us gave the restaurant a rating of 4.5 with the exception of the fish sandwich, which was given a 4.0. The smothered chicken and pork chops filled the whole plate with mash potatoes and gravy and both guys really liked it. The chops were very tender and he didn't even need a knife. He said he would've given it a 5.0 if it would''ve been served with a biscuit or bread. The Smothered chicken guy could only eat half the potatoes, as it was a large amount. The Shrimp and Grits were excellent. The Chicken sandwich and Fish Sandwich both came with a large amount of French fries. The Chicken Soul food dinner was ordered with okra and collards and he said it was great. I ordered the Chicken and waffle. I've only had Chicken and Waffles once down in Charleston at a Diner's, Drive-in and Dive restaurant that was said to be very good. I didn't care for it there and I really didn't want to order it at Kiki's because of that. The waiter recommended it so I thought I'd give it a try. It had a nice sized Belgian like waffle and two boneless chicken breast. I was totally surprised at the chicken. It had a very thin crust (unlike Zestos and most other "southern fried" chicken). It was crisp and the seasoning was fabulous. Very tasty...lots of salt and pepper but not too salty. Some of the best I've had and also very moist. It turned me around on my thoughts of not liking Chicken and Waffles! This was a great experience for the group and I think we all were surprised. We will return!

This is so good!!!!! The go to Local soul food spot!!!! The pork chop and fried chicken wings were delicious. Vegetables are very good. My friend did not prefer sweet potatoes soufflé.

Plus side: food was good and relatively inexpensive. And now the minuses: first of all, the service was not great. I felt like we were bothering the staff by being there. Second, the location was not very clean. The table was barely wiped down, and don't get me started on the restroom. Third, even though we had real plates, we had plastic forks and knives. What's the deal with that? Overall, it was a passable lunch, but I wouldn't go back.

Great atmosphere! Food was well seasoned and hot. Smothered pork was so good! Would recommend this place!

Had breakfast here this Saturday morning. I had the waffle and my husband had the waffles with chicken. I should have gotten the same thing because was the chicken was The waffle was ok but the chicken was so good!! Very friendly staff and it was a nice place as well.

Kiki's is a definitely my go to spot for daddy daughter dates! My princess LOVES their wings and red velvet waffles. You can always count on their wings because seasoned and cooked to perfection. The staff is ALWAYS super friendly and helpful especially whenever I take the kids with me. You can count on a quick service time as well, even when the place is slammed they find a way to get the food out quickly. We've visited both locations and they always have a dope song selection. Gotta love a place that's got good food, good vibes, and great staff.

I went for smothered pork chops today. I had them before, and they were great! Today, I was very disappointed! These days, people just don't seem to care what they sell people as long as they make money. They don't provide food as if it is for themselves. Anyway, I was given a lot of potatoes (they were supposed to be mashed, but they were not, they were lumpy). And some pieces were burnt. he or she scraped the bottom of the pan or when they were cooked, some of them were burnt. I was given 2 very small pieces of pork chop with fat on them. I couldn't tell they were pork chops. The first time I tried it, I was given 2 nice size pork chops and a decent amount of potatoes. Apparently, I was given a lot of potatoes to compensate for the little bit of meat!. People just don't do right anymore! They are not fare to the customers or care about them. Its not about satisfying them anymore! Totally dissatisfied and disappointed! However, The Black young man I encountered who was all over the place was EXCELLENT! He was GREAT the last time I visited also! Very caring and welcoming! I thank him for that!

Super disappointed! I do not live in Columbia, however offered to pick up a large salad for family members that have ordered from KiKi's many times. In fact this was my second time in 2 weeks picking up a to go order. I will let the attached photo of the "large" salad I paid $7.69 in addition to leaving a $2 gratuity speak for itself! This is unacceptable!

Food was spot on loved every bite of it this is a excellent spot to visit a true meaning of southern food. The service was wonderful as well the server made sure we had everything too our liking . Fast seating for such a excellent tasting restaurant

Food was EDIBLE. But it was not enjoyable. I had the shrimp and grits and my aunt had the smothered chicken n mashed potatoes. The shrimp n grits portion was small, lump in the grits and not enough seasoning on the grits. The entire dish was a 5/10. The smothered chicken was definitely not fresh chicken and u can tell in the crust and taste. Mashed potatoes were the best part of the experience. And that says a lot.

Another great time at Kiki's! Our host Daisha was amazing. It was a large group of us and she handle it all so well. The food came out hot and quick! The chicken was delicious as always and the waffle was soft, fully and flavorful. The Mac and cheese was alright this time. The restaurant was clean and provided plenty of seating.

I'm guessing because it was like 30 minutes before closing I didn't care for the taste of the food. It definitely could have been better. This usually my go too when I pop in Columbia.

Pretty good restaurant! Love the idea of the mimosa pitcher instead of glasses . Our waiter greeted us as soon as we sat at our seating. She was quick and polite. Pretty large restaurant for seating . The decor is nice as well. We will be back. Only con is that tables could be cleaned better ! As well as using different breads for French toast . Otherwise pretty good spot

The food was delicious! Try the ribs, the meat falls right off the bone and seasoned well. The waitress was prompt and polite. Large place where you can bring you ur family and just have fun

I wanted to love this place because of all the good reviews on yelp and in person but not so much. I do think maybe I just went on that wrong day as others in my party who previously ate here said the food is usually better than this. Service: So I'll start with our waitress. Unfortunately I don't remember her name (dark skin girl with green tipped locs) - but she was amazing! She was efficient, polite, and informative. Our food came out quick and for the most part exactly as we ordered it. Food - most of it was BLAND. We ordered fried okra as a starter...BLAND and the dipping sauce was disgusting, idk what it was but it wasn't good. Fish & grits...grits were BLAND, Smothered pork chops over rice & gravy and a side of Mac n cheese....BLAND, well the gravy was. Mac n cheese was okay but dry. The pork chops were tasty but had a lingering aftertaste. It reminded me of the ranch dip seasoning people use to make pot roast, but at least it tasted like something. Now the fried chicken!! - DELICIOUS. I think that's were all the seasoning went. So good and fried well! Thankfully I didn't have to pay for my meal so I'm willing to give it another try if I'm in that area and someone else wants to go. If I do comeback, I am going to stick to the chicken & waffles only and just nibble off others plate to sample other items on menu. Hopefully then they will figure out who's hiding the seasoning.

I was disappointed in my 1st North Charleston visit. I left telling others and myself that I would still drive to Columbia instead unfortunately. I was very excited to finally get to the new location. I ordered my FAVE which was the Red Velvet Waffle w/wings and Blueberry Raspberry Kool Aid. That drink I never received, the wings had little to no seasoning and fried hard. The grease needed to be changed. You could taste it in the meat. So, I didn't get to enjoy all of my wings :-(. The service was nice. The restaurant was clean and spacious. My Red Velvet Waffle was good. Just not red LOL.

The waffle was a bit too sweet! Didn't know they were going to add sugar on top! I tasted the plain Belgian. I think I'm just a plain waffle and pancake guy.

A couple of friends recommended this place on my visit to Columbia, SC. When I pulled up, I was apprehensive because hardly any cars were in the parking lot. Of course it was practically empty when we went on so we were seated promptly. And the waitress came just as fast for our orders. The food came quickly and let me say, I'm glad that I didn't let the empty parking lot deter me. It was delicious. My mac & cheese was a little dry but the taste was still good. They do place a surcharge on credit card payments, but give a small discount if paying in cash. I'll definitely be back to try a waffle on my next visit.

My good girlfriend and I stopped in early on Saturday and were seated promptly as they had just opened. I'm not sure why but it was very muggy/humid inside the restaurant. Nonetheless I got the 4 chicken wing and french toast as it seemed to be a fam favorite on Yelp. I really enjoyed the mimosa and could have easily knocked back 3. The French toast was really good and pipping hot. The chicken was "ok" as you could tell it was not cooked in fresh grease from the taste and it could have used a tad bit more seasoning. It was hot but it didn't seem fresh hot, if that makes sense... it was as if it had been reheated in the older grease. The reviews kind of confused me because I had very high hopes. Maybe this was just a bad day. Nonetheless, you should give it a try and make your own decision. May be back to give it one more shot but we shall see.

Wanted to love this place so badly. Only reason they are getting two stars is because the host who sat us was above and beyond and I didn't get his name a younger guy. We arrived at 12:50 and didn't have food until 2:00. There was only 3 of us and the place looked to be busy but not that busy because the tables beside us that have much larger parties were in and out. Having heard that the food was worth the wait we waited was checked on maybe 2 times and the 3rd the waitress said let me look and see where the hold up is. Shrimp and grits seemed to be covered in brown gravy (packaged). My chicken was unflavored and the waffle my goodness could have cause anyone a concussion. It was worth the experience but will not be back. My only take away was the watermelon kool-aid was delicious.

Went to KiKi's on a Sunday afternoon. It was a little packed but there was no wait to get a table. Been there once before a few years back but had to take my wife so she could experience it for herself. She ordered the French toast and chicken wings i decided to get the fried fish and grits with some extra chicken on the side (Fat i know but i wanted chicken too). Wish i would've gotten the shrimp and grits as my grits was just grits and cheese and the other came with the works of peppers,onions, etc... chicken and fish were crunchy but could've been seasoned better. The grits was creamy and well cooked. We also got a pitcher of the mimosa and it was a good but not great lunch. I will be going back because i remember the food being better than what I ate that day. Not bad but not great either.

Excellent food and nice waitress however wait time was a bit much and waitress did disappear. So more of a sit down kind of restaurant. I do highly recommend though

The chicken and waffles are great. The vegetables and service are ok. They do not answer the phone. Take out and pickup orders are only done through door dash if you are within their area; Otherwise you may place your order on door dash and select pickup.

Had a late night dinner here after a bumpy flight from Utah. We were totally impressed with it all. A wonderful, friendly staff, good music playing and the food was delicious. My friends had their Chicken and Waffles, the seasoning on the chicken was awesome; would love to know what mix they use. I had the Shrimp and Grits, Collard Greens with Fried Okra on the side. It was like having a "slap in your in the face" home awakening of returning to the south. Loved it! Sorry for no pics...we were hungry as hell and it was good, so it didn't last long being untouched!

Heard so many great things about Kiki's so I decided to try it with some family and friends. The waitress was very polite and patient with our large group. Every single dish was cooked to perfection. The chicken and red velvet waffles were amazing. The fried pork chop was seasoned so well and the sides of collards, rice and gravy and Mac n cheese were very good. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals.

Stopped through for breakfast on the way from Charlotte. We arrived before the restaurant got crowded and was immediately seated. 1st time for 3 of the 4 of us. Lots of great options on the menu. Since it was my 1st time I decided to go with what the restaurant was named for, Kiki's Chicken & Waffle. 4 golden fried whole chicken wings and an original Belgium waffle. Also ordered a Salmon Patty appetizer. Everything was delicious. The chicken came out piping hot. There was syrup and hot sauce on the table, & a scoop of butter with the waffle. Definitely will be back to

Great food and service. The authentic southern food was perfectly executed. I definitely couldn't have asked for more. The portions were very generous. This is a must visit location.

Okay, so the staff was nice, but very slow. The waffles were good tasting, (they were nice and light but not crisp at all), and they definitely were not Belgium. Joel said his bacon was thin & the eggs were extremely choppy. My wings were perfectly fried but one of them tried to fly off cause it still had so many feathers. They have kool aid on the menu y'all! (We're in the south!!) It cost more than soda, lemonade, or iced tea- yet it does not come with a refill like the other drinks do; but it's 20 cents a pack kool aid, lol. We noticed there was a service fee for staff, of course there's a tax fee, and fee for using a debit or credit card. That's too much! Luckily we had cash.

The chicken is fantastic and the best smothered pork chops I ever had! Great service- staff was so friendly! The food came out quickly and they had a totally decent wine selection!

Kiki's has. the best soul food in Columbia. Their signature Chicken and Waffles are tasty and addictive. The chicken is always well cooked. I have never had food that was not good dining there.

The food was cold but looked amazing, our server was great she did everything to make sure we were satisfied, we will definitely be back, I believe our servers name was Kylee suck a sweet girl, I gave 5 stars because of our server.

We came to SC to visit my son for his Family day and Basic training graduation. We were looking for a place to have some Southern Comfort Food. We came across Kiki's.This place has the best chicken wings, waffles, mac and cheese, collards, corn muffins, and sweet tea. We had a great experience, the waiter was very efficient, the ambiance was great, and most importantly the food was fantastic! We're only here for a few days, but we are hoping to come back before we head back to Rhode Island.

Stopped in while visiting family, and WOW!!!! The service was amazing, our waitress was a joy to talk to. The food was fast and hot! I ordered the smothered chicken, mashed potatoes were sooooooo yummy, great texture and flavor, the gravy on top was better than grandmas.......and it brought the dish all together , for a truly southern meal!!! I plan on going back EVERY time I'm in town!

Chicken and Mac/cheese was amazing. Environmental was ok. They were busy and wait staff did the best they could to accommodate. May visit again but will just get chicken and Mac and cheese

Kiki's Chicken and Waffles is a must visit when in Columbia! This was the best chicken and waffles I've ever had. Our server and the manager took great care of us. I highly recommend adding this to your list!

I've eaten at the newer location, but this was my 1st time here. Our server Ed was excellent! Bubbly, funny, and attentive. Please ask for him!
