Mariya Russell Is the First Black Woman to Run a Michelin-Starred Kitchen | Eater

"Hidden down stairs beyond its sister bar, this intimate, 10-seat omakase dining room feels like a private dinner party: moody, warm wood and candlelight set the tone while the chef prepares and serves a seven-course tasting menu at arm’s length. The experience is part open kitchen and part performance, centered on refined, complex flavors informed by Japanese technique and direct engagement between chef and guests. A standout is the house-made agedashi tofu with tofu purée, truffle, puffed wheat berries, five-spice and a homemade dashi seasoned with kombu, bonito, soy and palm sugar. Dessert is treated with care as well—the Japanese milk bread served here is notable enough to appear on both menus—and the restaurant helped propel its chef to historic recognition as a Michelin-starred chef." - Angela Burke

A Critic Praises West Loop’s Japanese Cocktail Hotspot | Eater Chicago

"Downstairs at Kikko, the intimate 10-seat counter serves only a tasting menu that delivers precision and show-stopping moments: butter-poached scallop with caviar and puffed rice, an “absolutely gorgeous” tofu course topped with green almonds and fried bonito flakes, and a refined finish of Japanese milk bread topped with fermented-honey ice cream and fresh truffles." - Jeffy Mai

It's a tiny little store on the 2nd floor. It's covered floor to ceiling with wigs and lashes. I have to purchase lashes in bulk for a show that I work on and NO ONE beats the quality or prices of this store in New York City. The lashes I've bought here are top quality and I can get them by the dozen. I honestly would never shop anywhere else for lashes. As long as this store is open, and I live in NYC, it will be my source.

Overpriced hair, most of it looked old like it had been sitting there for awhile, alot of clutter, packs of hair we’re literally paper thin and overpriced, staff was rude, came in to make bulk purchases, left because they rushed me after looking at the lashes they had available and at the extremely unorganized arrangement of hair hanging from the ceiling rails, said i was “taking too long “, i stated my confusion of what their issue with me was, i did nothing wrong but attempting to shop, i wasnt even in there for 5 minutes. 😐 typical “hurry up and buy” racist treatment. Very disgusted with their attitudes, dont waste your time going here, even if they had been nice, the prices are comical, $200 for a bundle of hair that is not only exposed and wearing away and hanging from a ceiling rail, but also just jammed with other hair and collecting dust. Lol. Unbelievable. 1star given in order to comply & be able to submit review properly, but experience here was a solid ZERO. Took my business elsewhere and very happy I made that decision!

Stopped by this store for the first time based on Yelp reviews. The staff seemed nice enough but hated the prices. Priced one hair item and ran for the hills! Based on the price I was given this has got to be the most expensive hair store in NYC.

This place has every cut and every type of wig you can imagine. This would be a great place for “cosplay or role play” nights. Lol. The staff speak just enough English to help so be patient and you will find what you are looking for. They are located upstairs almost like an attic. The stairs are wobbly and uneven you feel like you are going through a funhouse.
