"This quaint and cozy cottage house is a perfect casual lunch spot with outdoor seating for local fish—seared ahi tuna poké wraps, mahi mahi tacos, as well as some very interesting non-fish items, like sea asparagus. If you’re not in the mood for seafood, they also offer delectable BBQ chicken and a few vegetarian options (including big, hearty burritos). Important to note: It gets busy come dinner, and they’re closed Sundays."

Google
Came for poke but ended up getting garlic shrimp and was not disappointed with the choice. The only mistake was that I didn’t dip the first shrimp I ate into the side sauce, which was insanely good. White rice and mac salad as sides and this was the perfect lunch.

Violet

Google
We had lunch here mainly because of the google reviews and the proximity to Princeville where we stayed. The food were delicious. Staff friendly. If you are in the area, definitely check out this place!

Chris Burnett

Google
A great spot to get some fresh and delicious food. If we make it back to Kauai, we'll definitely be stopping in here again.

Sara Karbensi

Google
The food here is decently yummy, nothing to complain about but not my top food recommendation either. Tried it once on our first day in and didn’t go again as there’s many other good places to try. I’d recommend coming here once to try their good poke, but probably not a regular place I’d go. I would say it’s a good place to go with kids if you find an open table or bench, there’s grass for them to play and there’s chickens for entertainment.

Google
Incredible food and large portions. So good we ate there twice during our vacation. I highly recommend the fish tacos!

Nick Crowley

Google
Well I’m sure it’s delicious. Tried to eat here but apparently my directions took me across the street to the Kilauea Market and Cafe…ugh. I guess I now know where to go. In their defense, I recall a huge box truck sitting in front of the restaurant blocking the view from the parking lot. Will definitely go upon returning to Kauai. Was recommended highly.

Google
Very flavorful ono fish tacos with the fish cooked perfectly! Ahi wrap also had the perfect balance is sauce, fillings, and fish. This is our fifth island on a monthlong trip, and best fish we’ve encountered- enjoy!

Crazy Frog

Google
Nothing fancy, not much room to sit, but the service was friendly and knowledgeable, and they offered a military discount. We had two fish plates. One was ahi and the other can't remember but both seared and delicious! Our group also had two very delicious fish tacos.

Yelp
Very glad we got to have dinner here on the way to check out the sunset at the Hanalei Bay during summer trip. The place looked big from the outside, but inside was just a counter service with mainly patio seating outside. There's a nice market across the street if you want to grab some drinks or snacks there:) Can't beat fresh fish in Hawaii, seriously why eat anything but fish? - Grilled Ono Tacos = flavorful and delicious fish tacos! Excellent Mexican style spices was a flavor bomb. And good tortilla too! - Grilled Ono Plate = excellent fresh piece of fish! But could use a better sauce to complement the fish. The sauce that came with the fish was like a mayo soy sauce type, which didn't do much. I think the fresh fish can be complemented better with maybe a garlic butter type sauce? Or just pour on some of the existing crack flavoring that was in the fish tacos, lol. - Poke Plate = being all about poke during the trip, of course had to get it here too, spicy ahi. The rice was not sushi rice, which doesn't help the poke meal, but... *** This place had the absolute BEST QUALITY ahi poke on the island!!! Such a pleasure to bite through the fresh super smooth ahi pieces with that buttery oily texture to the flesh. No unpleasant or chewy pieces at all... But the plate was not enough poke, and since it's not sushi rice, you end up not eating much rice and thus don't get filled up from this plate. But that fish quality and freshness, wow. Could not leave the place without getting some more, so went back in to get poke by itself. Poke price was a shocker, the highest I've seen at $40/lb!!! But what can you say when it's the best freshest and best ahi quality on Kauai? Had to get another 1/2 lb. They were out of it at the counter, but they were able to get another tray from the back. I wanted spicy ahi again but the tray was regular so they just gave sauce on the side. We ate that poke up fast to the very last piece. Best quality, absolutely zero chewy pieces. It's pricey, but you get the fish quality you pay for here. They must trim the ahi perfectly to avoid having any of those sinews or chewiness to the pieces, so maybe the price was ok considering you ate 100% of the pieces without having to spit out a tough piece, lol. Highly recommend the poke here. Pricey, but gotta pay to play, and just get the fish tacos to fill up:)

Yelp
Food: 5 Mics Service: 3.5 Mics Ambiance: 3 Mics Food: Teri Chicken plate was sweet and savory, it will not dissappoint. The potato mac salad had a good blend of potatoes, macaroni and mayo. The portions were filling. I could have been good with a kids plate. Service: I am up in the air. The gentleman working the register was okay. I asked for the Ahi wrap and he said he didn't have any more, they were waiting for the guy to come back to cut more. I asked for ono and the same thing. Super dissappointed. I opted for the Teri Chicken. Ambiance: Get ready to be bullied by the chickens if you sit on the outside tables. Otherwise a pretty legit hole in the wall. All in all - I would return for the wraps and the poke bowls but just be prepared with a plan b, plan c if they run out.

Yelp
At 6pm (you know, dinner time) they're out of poke...so the one thing I drove over here for is not available...insert eye roll here. Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy that you guys are popular and successful, despite the tudey and nonchalant "service"...Aloha? That being said, my husband enjoyed his garlic shrimp plate, so there's that. Mahalo, I think.
google avatar

Gladys L.

Yelp
Decent poke but lack of variety- long waits during lunch. Okay service, not a very large establishment, only outdoor seating
google avatar

Liana M.

Yelp
Idk why this place doesn't have a higher yelp rating! Our snorkel tour guide recommended us to come here for lunch after our tour. You order inside, and there's lots of (outdoor only, partially under cover) seating. They give you a pager and inform you about how long it will take, as everything is made to order. My husband and I both had the ahi wrap - Sauteed ahi wrapped in a Spinach flour tortilla with brown rice, carrots, cucumbers, mung bean sprouts, cabbage, organic greens, and homemade sesame island dressing. Dude I am still having dreams about this wrap. No wonder it's their #1 seller! If Kilauea weren't so far from where we were staying, we would've totally been back. Everything about it was delicious. It was SO filling. I could even finish it, no matter how bad I wanted to. I'd love to return to try other things on the menu! I say that, but honestly I would come back just for the ahi wrap lol.

Yelp
Quick service and tasty fish tacos. In a nondescript strip center but tables outside. Chickens!

Yelp
This small little market doesn't have any eating space inside, but there is a covered patio outside with several tables for smaller groups. Kilauea Fish Market has several fish options, which you can get on a plate, on tacos, or in a burrito. There are also a couple of non-seafood options including chicken and pork, both which seem to only be on plates, plus some kind of steak. There are also special menu items each day -- I got the steak tacos and thought they were solid, though I thought they could use a bit less cheese. Happy I went, and would go again if I was hungry and in the area, but it wouldn't be somewhere I race back to next time I'm on Kauai.

Yelp
Food was amazing once....It finally came out. We wait 45 plus mins then they told one person in our party that they were out of what we ordered after waiting all that time. Bummed because wanted it to be an amazing experience for friends I was hosting. Chef was on it along with the sous chef. The cash register girl seemed beyond lost and probably why it all took so long. Multiple people behind us got their food before us which is baffling. Almost need two sous chef's and someone more experienced on the register.

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch after visiting the Kilauea Lighthouse. Both of us ordered the famous ahi wrap and sat at one of the shade-covered tables just outside the restaurant. Note that the interior is quite small and there's no seating in there. There is ample outdoor seating just outside, however, and this worked just fine for us! You could also take your food for a picnic at the beach nearby but we were too hungry to wait :) The ahi wrap is one of the most popular items on the menu and for good reason. We both absolutely loved it! It had a great combination of textures and flavors. It was hearty and satisfying but not heavy either. I can honestly say it is one of my favorite sandwiches I've ever had and one that I will definitely need to return to get again on a future trip to Kauai. The other items on the menu look good too! They have tacos and burritos and plates as well as fresh poke. Even if you try something different from the FABULOUS ahi wrap, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
June 2023 This was a place nearby after we had done the hike out to HanakapiAi Beach and back. It is a small little shop opposite the market with seating outside. When inside it resembles a deli counter where you can see all the side dishes and poke. Service was friendly answering any questions that we had. My partner ordered the poke plate with pickled cucumber and the seaweed salad, and I got the vegetarian special plate. My partner enjoyed her plate. So far the poke just hits different on the island. The pickled cucumber had good flavor and bite. The vegetarian plate for the price though was underwhelming. The tofu definitely the low point. Their sides were good though.

Yelp
Ambiance: 4/5 You order inside and there are about 4 tables (different number of seats). Think there 2 tables for 4 people and 2 tables for 8 people. Cool music was playing inside but there are no speakers outside for customers to listen to. Service: 4/5 Greeted friendly when we ordered. When I went to get our food when it was ready, the girl working behind the counter just pointed to a jar where I was to out the buzzer we were given. I think it would have been nicer if she just told me where to put it versus just pointing. Food: 4.5/5 We had Ahi tacos and Shrimp tacos. 2 tacos cost $17.50. Yes, a little on high side but they did have a lot of protein in each taco. The slaw and sauce they put in the tacos are delicious. Provided a "crunch" for the taco because it was in a thin flour tortilla which I liked. The flavor for the ahi tuna (I asked for it to be "seared" only) was perfect. The flavor for the shrimp tacos was also delicious. We would definitely go back and try the "Ono" people have reviewed but we came toward the end of the day for dinner and they did not have any Ono available.

Yelp
One more thing to add from my prior review. The salad and that amazing salad dressing was the bomb !!!!! Primo !
google avatar

Lydia A.

Yelp
We got the ahi wrap and fish tacos. Fish taco was huge but the ratio of fish to everything else was off. The food was overall good but needed something more!

Yelp
My family and I were in north shore for a year end getaway. Kilauea fish market was in our host's list of restaurants to try & we headed out to sample the island's food offerings. This joint did not disappoint. We had the chicken teriyaki, pork & fish. So so good. Everything was cooked perfectly & had the most delicious little sauces to accompany each meal. Food was priced well, came out quick & shop is in a nice, clean location. Good job Kilauea fish market.

Yelp
I got the Kajiki (Blue Marlin) poke and while the fish was fresh, it was under seasoned. Gordon Ramsay would've given them an earful. The screen door was also extremely loud and obnoxious as it slams hard every single time, and all 4-5 tables around me complained about it amongst each other. Seems like an easy fix to a really annoying problem that somewhat ruins the dining experience. It's also around $17 for a poke bowl (I believe 1/3 lb of fish) so after tax and tip it's over $20. On the more expensive side for sure.

Yelp
Arrr, me mateys! Cap'n 619 be catchin' a righteous wave into this epic spot in Kilauea, known as Kilauea Fish Market. The vibes be as chill as the sea, with a sweet breeze blowin'. The seats be scarce, so ye may have to plant yer boot on solid ground if there be a crowd. Me beach bunny went for the fish tacos, swearin' they be so fresh ye can practically taste the ocean. The Korean barbecue be tearin' up me taste buds like a wild storm at sea. This place be a treasure, not quite five stars, but ye can bet yer doubloons we'll be back for more plunder. Until we meet again, me hearties..
google avatar

Janna C.

Yelp
Very good fish and garlic shrimp tacos! They were accommodating and we were able to order a la cart (an order is two). Very casual walk up to the counter to order place with limited outdoor seating, but the tacos were delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Had to try given the reviews. Go here after you go hiking the Kalalau trail or on the way to see the Kilauea Lighthouse - the wait wasn't bad (we went around noon on a Wednesday on the off season in October) & the wrap was delicious. Got an ahi wrap with their recommended preparation (seared), and the ratio of protein to vegetables was fresh and crunchy. We were able to split this wrap and were good to go- it's quite large for one person. It's not too messy to eat (just eat with the aluminum foil helping keep everything together!) You order inside and they give you a buzzer. There's covered seating outside as well as picnic tables around. Parking is a breeze, and there are other cute shops around the area. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area!

Yelp
While on the islands, we knew we had to get our fill of fresh fish. So a stop to Kilauea Fish Market was a definitely must! Located in a corner lot across from Kilauea Market + Cafe, parking is plentiful and readily available in the private lot. This is a very popular stop in North Shore, so it was not surprising when we arrived at lunch that there was already a massive amount of people eating out front and in the grassy area. The line itself moves pretty quickly despite only having 1 cashier, however the wait for the food itself took a solid 20mins after ordering. There are very limited outdoor tables available, so most people either took their food to go, or were seated on the grass out front. We sneakily took our food to an empty table at the cafe next door, despite a "no outside food" sign...lol (we ordered a coffee from them so it wasn't all bad). Ordered an Ahi Wrap ($17.99) and it was massive! I was definitely able to share with my wife, and it was delicious. However, it was a messy eat, so I would advise NOT eating in the car where it WILL fall all over the place. The Ahi wrap consists of ahi, brown rice, carrots, cucumbers, mung bean sprouts, cabbage, organic greens seasoned with sesame island dressing, and wrapped in a spinach flour tortilla. Kilauea Fish Market is definitely pricey, but a good stop if you're looking for fresh, delicious seafood. The price on the menu was outdated and reflecting cheaper prices than what we were charged. And the inside could really use some AC or bigger fans, because it was still really hot.

Yelp
I know this place is known for its fish tacos,Ahi wraps and poke but let me tell you!! The Korean barbecue Kalbi ribs are fire!! The Kalbi ribs are so tender and meaty. The BBQ flavor is so delicioso!! The plate lunch comes with rice(brown or white) and either mac salad or organic greens. If you are craving red meat definitely order the kalbi ribs plate lunch. I definitely think they are the best kalbi ribs on the island. Every time I go to Kilauea Fish Market I try to convince myself to order the fish tacos but I always end up ordering the kalbi ribs.

Yelp
Don't pay with credit card, they will add a 3.5% surcharge to the bill. Disappointing. I came here because I read Andy Irons used to eat here.
google avatar

Suri Y.

Yelp
Place was so yummy we came here twice during our trip here! The sauce on top of the ono grilled fish tacos made it 10x better, I couldn't get enough of it! You have the option of having other meats on it which is nice so you can choose what you want on your taco. As for the Korean bbq chicken plate, it was perfectly cooked. The sauce and the tenderness was amazing. We did come late at night so I think they were out of white rice and mac salad but the brown rice and the salad were still good sides! There's only seating outside at this place but we were always able to find a place to sit even though there isn't a ton of seating. Definitely come check out this place, there's so many options!
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and the food was sooo good. Thanks to my hubby for selecting this place for lunch.
google avatar

Kemi S.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed my burrito with hard to find a'u (kajiki aka blue marlin) I requested to be simply seared. Got about five nice 1 x 2" pieces. Needed a little more salt, but just applied my own to taste. Accompanied with a side of ok mac salad made fine with drizzles of shoyu, and sriracha. Wish they had furikake. Cool that you can byob your wine no charge.

Robin V.

Yelp
The garlic shrimp is the best I have had in all my trips to the Hawaiian islands. The service-outstanding!
google avatar

Jazzy S.

Yelp
We came in for the poke, and it was amazing. We were driving by the area and decided to stop in for a quick bite. The ambiance is fast casual fish market, order at the counter. The service was good but not amazing. Food comes out pretty quickly after you order. Seating was all outside. - Ahi wrap (3/5): We saw great review on this so decided to try, but it was honestly not great. There was not enough sauce, and the fish by itself seemed a bit dry with tortilla and rice. Flavors were good but not enough sauce. - Poke by the pound (4.5/5): Tasted fresh, almost melt in your mouth. Super flavorful. - Poke nachos (4.5/5): This was really yummy, with the sauces mixed in a jalapeño. Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Holly C.

Yelp
Small shack where you order inside and eat outside at the tables. I think they should post the menu somewhere outside or have extra copies for ppl to view while waiting in line. It was inconvenient to hold up the line if you don't know what to order until you step up to the register. Ahi tuna poke plate - with and fresh tuna with light spiciness.. the cucumber on the other hand was spicy and didn't expect that, it was a good kick. The seaweed was not great. It was too slimy for my liking. Ono tacos - this was a good fish taco - fish was grilled food enough that you taste s not or the charness.. the slaw on top was refreshing and crunchy texture of freshness.
google avatar

Kaiti P.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing place ! Staff were friendly and service was super fast. You place your order and are given a buzzer when your food is ready. It was ready quickly and we sat outside with amazing views. Poke was outstanding and so fresh. Shrimp were fresh, juicy, and flavorful. Wonderful experience!!!! Definitely recommend and worth a stop.
google avatar

Clayton M.

Yelp
Ahi wrap was so flavorful. Whatever secret sauce that was in that guy was so so good. We originally planned to go to Sushigirl but they had an hour wait! So props to this place for giving us almost the same thing in 5 mins. Definitely worth coming here instead. Poke bowl with ahi was also good. If the poke bowl had the same sauce on it, would've been on another level. That sauce was awesome. Only downside about the wrap is that it was falling apart. But that's ok!
google avatar

gina m.

Yelp
The poke nachos were so good! Friendly service. There are no seats indoors because it's just the order counter and kitchen but there's plenty of covered seating outside. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in Kauai.
google avatar

Yelp
Got a little hungry after snorkeling and found this spot. We had the Garlic Shrimp and Teriyaki Chicken with brown rice. Food and service was good. Not your typical very garlicky shrimp but it was ok. The teriyaki chicken was good.

Julia R.

Yelp
We came here after going to the gym nearby and before going to the grocery store. There are also many shops nearby so very convenient location for shopping / browsing while having lunch. We ordered the ono fish tacos and a chicken teriyaki plate. It was incredible. The ono was so fresh and the flavors amazing. I'm still thinking about it days later. Wait staff was nice. Free water. Pretty fast service. Easy to sit down on outdoor patio during lunch on a Wednesday - I'm sure it gets more crowded on other days. Can't wait to go back... I think we will go for dinner tonight!!
google avatar

Chrissy R.

Yelp
Yummy fish tacos and wraps - I love they have keiki (kid) plates for reasonable prices and a I'm thing different than fried chicken and fries - we got teriyaki chicken, white rice and carrots for $7.50.
google avatar

Rakshit P.

Yelp
Was in the area and hungry. Looked at the menu online and came here for a quick pickup. Ordered the Grilled Fish Plate, Vegetarian Special plate and the Keiki BBQ Chicken. The fish was grilled to perfection and the wasabi complemented the taste really well. My daughter also liked the BBQ Chicken. The place is a bit small and has a few tables outside to sit. Service was friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped off for lunch at Kilauea Fish Market around the time they opened (11 a.m.) on a Thursday afternoon. A majority of their tables were claimed early on, but we were able to snag one when we ordered. My partner and I opted to share their spicy ahi poke bowl and their ono fish tacos. This fish was fresh, but just okay in my opinion. The poke from Foodland is just as good as the poke here, and you would get more bang for your buck there. The ono fish tacos weren't too exciting taste wise since the toppings held most of the flavor. It's a fine spot to stop for lunch if you're in the Kilauea area, but we'll opt to try another spot when we're in town.

Steve H.

Yelp
It's simple, fast, fresh and delicious! Not crowded, nothing fancy, just good fresh food! What more do you need to know? Go, it's delicious!
google avatar

Will C.

Yelp
We had the poke plate, teriyaki chicken plate and the poke nachos. The poke was outstanding. They had the spicy ahi and the sesame ahi the day we were there. Both were so good. The poke plate came with plenty of poke, seaweed salad and a scoop of rice. The teriyaki chicken was also really good. Everyone's favorite was the poke nachos. It was a plate loaded with poke on top of cinnamon wonton chips. It's unlike any poke nachos I've had back home in California. If you are anywhere near the north shore, definitely come here for lunch.
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
The fish is quite fresh. Literally, while we were finishing up lunch there was someone hand-delivering two large fish. I can't comment on their classic dishes, but their poke nachos special was to die for. Crispy wonton crackers, spicy ahi, jalapeños and the awesome sauce they drizzled on it. My taste buds were in heaven. Hubby's grilled fish seemed fine. The staff were very helpful in giving recommendations, explaining options, and answering our questions. Plenty of parking and outdoor seating - with some in the shade. I would love to be back.
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
This is where you go if you want a fabulous fish dinner (or lunch) but don't want to worry about getting all dressed up. My wife got the fish tacos and I got the seafood plate with seared yellowfin tuna. Both meals were expertly prepared and the taste was perfect. We won't return to Kauai without returning to Kilauea Fish Market.

Danielle C.

Yelp
Some of the best fresh fish on the island and super sweet family! Also has a great veggie friendly wrap
google avatar

Kirsten S.

Yelp
$18 for ahi wraps (they'll ask you how you want the ahi cooked). We got ours seared. They have an amazing sesame dressing they out on it and it's so tasty! We got two ahi wraps and paid $44 including tip pricey shop but great flavoring. Waited about 15 min for our food. Busy on a Saturday around 11:30am-12pm. They had decent seating (some covered and some uncovered). It was raining on and off that day so the picnic tables uncovered were wet but they had about 3 tables available. Would come back more often if it wasn't so pricey.
google avatar

Jorge P.

Yelp
When you go to the islands you can eat at overpriced restaurants or press the advanced move and find little gems like the Kilauea Fish Market. This place rocks! All items are fresh - we gorged on poke, fish tacos, chips and burritos. Sooo good and the wait was not too bad. There is a market across the street that is totally high end and we got some extrs items there to accompany our meal. Highly recommend and food is very good

Rich B.

Yelp
Service was not great. I hate that they ask for a tip before you've even been served. I'm all for tipping, but how about providing great service first? Then, the service was poor and we felt like we were annoying them just by being there. We would not go back.
google avatar

Madison P.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on our way back down to Poipu and wow, it was amazing! I got the fish tacos and my husband got the ahi wrap. Both were so flavorful and fresh. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
google avatar

Chenna P.

Yelp
Good quantity of food for the price. Got a full tray of teriyaki chicken, rice, and macaroni salad for $18. While the teriyaki chicken was good, the macaroni salad was bland and the restaurant itself was crowded. Other than that not a bad place to have a quick and convenient dinner.
google avatar

Brett M.

Yelp
Could not recommend this place more. Whether you're a local, or a tourist visiting, for lunch or dinner, this place is consistently the BEST. Tasty, fresh, and so authentic for the island of Kauai. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Clayton G.

Yelp
FANTASTIC FOOD prepared as well as fish to buy. Ahi in my fish tacos, seared perfectly, Ono grilled on the wife's salad, amazing. A total gem but get there early as the fish goes fast and only a handful of tables.
google avatar

Roya J.

Yelp
Good place to stop after romping around. It's a order at the counter and pick up your food type of place. They have covered outdoor seating, which was nice, and they filtered water station. My teriyaki chicken was fine and the salad was fresh with a tasty dressing.
google avatar

Keiko H.

Yelp
This was our first meal in Kuai. We ordered a large poke plate and shared it between me and my husband. They were good, but I didn't think it was extraordinary. Spicy Ahi poke was a bit too saucy for me, making us super thirsty. It was definitely busy, so be prepared to wait inline for a bit. Note- There is no place to sit, or you are not allowed to eat outside, so we took it to the nearby smoothie, where they had a table and bench, ordered some smoothies, and ate there.
