"It’s business as usual during the 3-course lunch at Killen’s STQ, where many of the restaurant’s hits are listed as options. Kick things off with chef Ronnie Killen’s famed pecan-smoked pork belly, continue with an STQ burger and fries, and finish with a slice of traditional carrot cake. Not too bad for just $29." - Megha McSwain

My husband and I had a fantastic Christmas Eve dinner at Killens. I usually don’t order snapper even though it is my favorite fish (outside of being on the coast) because it never tastes fresh. I was pleasantly surprised at the snapper quality here, it was wonderful. My husband had the ribeye- he said it was cooked perfectly. For sides we got the jalapeño grits (YES, would get again) and the BBQ fries (meh, probably wouldn’t reorder). The dinning room is smaller than I thought it would be and the parking was valet but other than that, we had a great time and will be back.

Google
Quaint little spot! Make reservations and definitely order the bacon tres leches bread pudding for dessert. Amazing!!! Top of the line steaks. Shane was our server and he is outstanding! What a perfect date night!

My group recently visited to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a group of 13 and we had a reservation made. All the waiters took really good care of us! We had a very thorough explanation of a lot of the options on the menu, some unlisted house specials, and suggestions for those of us that have never visited. Personally, I had an old fashioned along with a medium rare dry aged ribeye and bone marrow. Other sides we ordered included the Gouda Mac and Cheese, the heirloom tomatoes and burrata, and pork belly. To end the night, I had ordered the carrot cake. The food was all phenomenal! I've had dry aged ribeye at Steak 48 for $20-30 more and I have to say that Killen's did it better. Exceptional service, amazing food, and the ambiance was not loud at all. I cannot recommend this place enough for celebrating life's milestones.

The reputation does not disappoint. Service is on point. The ambiance it's great. Excellent selection of wine and cocktails. The appetizers were delicious, cooked perfectly each with their own delicious flavor. The pork belly was a stand out about the appetizers. For the entrees, the dry aged ribeye was absolutely divine, tender and flavorful with that earthy undertone and the topping off the asparagus with the creamy sauce was the perfect compliment. Probably one of the best steaks I've ever had. The filet mignon was also stupendous with a nice texture and well seasons sear. The lobster was also quite tasty. All in all a terrific experience! Highly recommend for a Texas steakhouse experience.

Google
One of my new favorite restaurants. I have yet to taste something I don't like. The appetizers are varied and extensive. Definitely try the Grilled Octopus for something different to what you expect from a "Steakhouse". It is tender and smoky with citrus and light spice to compliment. I also tried the Dry Aged Pork Chop, served in a block and enough for 2 with a side. As for the sides, the Mac n Cheese, Au Gratin Potatoes are excellent. I have yet to try the Creamed Corn, but if it's as good as in Killen's BBQ, then that should be an amazing side as well. As for dessert, I have only tried the Bacon Tres Leches Bread Pudding. It's as good as it sounds. Waiters are very well-informed. Love this restaurant.

Google
The steak was good, but the sides were below mediocre- both as creativity and execution (mushrooms were so salty there were hardly edible). Appetizers have been hit or miss. Wine was warm, because -we were told- any wine at less than $150/bottle doesn't fit in the fridge!! Service was good though. We had a great time because of the company and the emotions we brought to the evening. But given the food quality, I don't see myself going back.

Google
Ok, if you ever want to bring a vegetarian to a steakhouse, this is it. Although there wasn't any veggie entree on the menu, the chef cooked an amazing dish for me. The server made sure to check with the kitchen on this. I had the compressed watermelon salad for appetizer. Drinks were great too. We had some cocktails and beer. Needless to say, the friends loved every one of their steak dishes here. Its one of the best around. The desserts - carrot cake was absolutely delicious. Chocolate cake and bread pudding were good too. Brussel sprouts and butter corn side were some of our dishes. Parking is private lot or complimentary valet.

Google
first time here and probably my last. I had high expectations of this place, heard good things but then again that was before the pandemic not sure if the service went downhill since covid or what. we came on a week night out it was almost empty, and we had ok service not that great, our waiter spent more time and chit chatted with other ppl than us. food was OK not special or great which I hope to be because I've been to other Killen restaurants and food and the service is always great and since this was on the higher end I expected more but was let down and this was one of the few restaurants I been to that does not offer a free dessert on your birthday, I'vebeen to many different steakhouses higher priced than this and they offer free dessert. only picked this place because of budget this year, we always try to go to a different nice steakhouse each year

Yelp
I finally made it to Killens STQ. I enjoyed it very much. It's a small intimate steakhouse located on Voss in Houston. Our server was friendly but the vibe of several staff members seemed off. Valet was complementary. We both ordered a ribeye, one wet aged and one dry aged. They were both very delicious and worth the price. The dry aged, of course was more tender and a little more flavorful. I love steakhouses. I would have to say the steaks were in my top three. I cannot say the same for sides. They were just okay, for a nicer restaurant. We had the mac & cheese and the brussels sprouts. when and if I go back, I would definitely try other sides just to make sure, but these were regular sides to me.

Yelp
Had dinner last night with my wife and a couple of her co-workers. We were practically alone in the place on a Tuesday evening, but - Tuesday, I suppose. We did get good service as a result. Our server suggested an off-menu appetizer which netted a beautiful dish with three large bacon wrapped shrimp over little blocks of grits and a savory sauce. They were tender and delicious, the bacon was substantial and smoky. A very good starter. For the main course, I opted for the dry aged NY strip, and (almost) wasn't disappointed. My requested level of doneness, medium rare, was overshot by a good margin, resulting in what I'd call medium or maybe even medium plus. This is inexcusable at a place of this caliber, but to keep drama to a minimum, I did not send it back, and frankly, I'm glad I didn't, because aside from that issue, it was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. It was well trimmed, still fairly moist, but most of all, it was quite tender, yielding to the knife easily, and had a rich, deep flavor characteristic of good dry aging, with nutty and especially a gorganzola or almost parmesano reggiano note. It was well seasoned and seared, and was quite enjoyable. My French 75 cocktail was a classic execution, served in proper stemware, and was a wonderful complement to the meal. I'd definitely come here again, but next time, I'd ask for a correction on the steak.

Yelp
General Description: Texas BBQ mixed in with a hint of TexMex and Cali inspired restaurant. Good: - Service is always good here. - All the cuts of meat are great. Bad: - I wasn't a fan of how they handled the over cooked steak. - For some odd reason, the interior decor just doesn't fit the vibe. - Valet dude needs to go. Although I love tipping well, I can't stand entitled workers who demand a tip. Overall: This place is definitely worth a try.

Yelp
AMAZING place. It is definitely in an unassuming location, but when you walk in it's very quaint and so nice. It's a very small restaurant, so I would definitely Recommend getting a reservation if you can. It is a cool crossover between BBQ and a steakhouse, and very tastefully done. Upscale without feeling stuffy. I came here with my husband and dad on a recommendation from my dad's coworker while he was in town. Did not disappoint! We started out with some bourbon, tequila, and I got a French 75. The French 75 was very light, crisp, and delicious! I absolutely loved it. We started out with the pork belly and short rib burnt ends. The short ribs had an excellent flavor. I'm not big on pork, but my husband and dad loved it. For our main course, my husband got the chicken fried steak, I got the tamales (beef short ribs) and my dad got the blackened snapper. They were all amazing! The tamales were very creative with the beef short ribs, and unlike anything I had tried. I loved them! They were technically an appetizer but the perfect amount of food. Lastly- dessert. This was the best by far. Definitely not the place to skip dessert on! We got the carrot cake and the tres leches bread pudding. WOW. I can't choose a favorite of the two- they were both incredible. The carrot cake was soooo well cooked and flavorful but also very light. I love carrot cake and it was definitely the best I've had. And the tres leches- wow. They had bacon in them, which somehow worked incredibly well. The flavors mixed in a totally unexpected but amazing way that complimented one another. I don't know how they could make tres leches better than it is, but they did it! Amazing. And our service! Wow. Our waiter was incredible. He was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the place, and had worked there for a long time. He was clearly passionate about the restaurant and got so excited talking about it. He was amazing! Highly recommend this place to all!

Yelp
Before I get to food, I must say the ambiance of this steakhouse is exceptional. Feels so warm and cozy, because it's not big at all. Moving onto the food, exceptional. Started with the wedge salad. Fresh, crunchy, savory. The pork belly was a bit more fried than my preference, but all in all, solid. The wood fired oysters were a crowd favorite. The star of the appetizers were the biscuits. Hands down the best biscuits I've had. Warm, soft and topped with a type of honey butter, just amazing. For the entrees we had the Grilled Shrimp Pasta which was creamy, saucy and full of flavor. It did come with caviar which my peasant palette was not ready for. The Wagyu STQ Burger was also a banger. No need for condiments when the meat is that excellent. Finished off dinner with an epic crème brûlée cheesecake. It was demolished. Great job all around.

Yelp
This place has been on my bucket list for quite some time. I'm a big fan of Killen's BBQ, so my expectations were rather high. A few years ago, there was a lot of excitement when this place first opened, but that has died down since. First and foremost, this is a valet only type of place. Annoying because the lot is fairly small. You can possibly find street parking the next street over, but it's a bit sketchy. We were able to dine here without a reservation during prime time on a Saturday without a wait despite there not being many tables. That was a bit of a red flag as most of the good places are full Saturday evening.. Our server for the evening was the bartender, which was unusual. Our table was near to the bar, and she in fact did do a great job. They were out of the wine my dining partner selected, and the other choices weren't even close. Bummer. My gimlet with cucumber was quite delicious though. As for the food, the highly anticipated pork belly bites were a bit disappointing. I didn't care for the overpowering tangy sauce at all, though the meat was prepared well. The chicken fried ribeye steak was a total let down. The flavorless crust fell off the thin chewy meat. At $35, it was so much worse than the marvelous $16 bar chicken fried steak I had consumed a few days earlier. My dining partner did enjoy the pork chop, and it did look tasty. The bone marrow was tasty when smeared on some of the complimentary bread, but I wish there was more of it. Overall a mediocre meal. I expected much more given the price point.

Yelp
Came with a party of 3. I made a reservation for 715pm but arrived at 645pm and we were immediately seated when we asked. We ordered the octopus, short rib tamale and crab cake for appetizers. We followed it with the wet aged ribeye. Everything was prepared well but I felt that the ribeye was under seasoned. We washed it down with a margarita and a Paloma mule- this was the better drink of the two. We declined the desserts.

Yelp
I had dinner at Killens STQ last night. It was delightful!!! The Biscuits with Truffle Butter were DELICIOUS!!! The truffle wasn't overpowering and the biscuit was perfect, slight crunch on the outside, soft, warm, buttery center. Yum!! I also had the collard greens and crabcake and both were fantastic! I liked the tomato reduction on the crabcake. Nice change from the way they are served elsewhere.

Tom J.

Yelp
I always love STQ. The food is so wonderful. The wine list is a little thin and pricey, but still a great selection. If you've never been, STQ is priced high-end, but the feel is of a nice BBQ restaurant. Service is typically excellent as was tonight's.

Danielle H.

Yelp
Come here for the apps and cocktails, and stay for them too!! This is an amazing spot that you might actually miss if you're driving too fast down Voss. It's cozy inside and the food is phenomenal. It's upscale and casual in the same breath, but the food is always five stars!!

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
The dinner was delicious. We did not wait no time as soon as we got there. Got our table right away. From the valet drive to the waiter it was phenomenal service. Felt very welcomed & the atmosphere was nice. Do recommend for a nice date night in the city.

Debbe M.

Yelp
Good food but exceptional for the price. Any good barbecue place would be just as good and probably a lot cheaper stood in line and really was kind of disappointed. The ambience is not that great. It's just table after table after table so if I were you I'd go somewhere else no five star here.

Herman L.

Yelp
I expected so much for this, and I think that hype sort of ruined it for me unfortunately. The venue is nice and intimate, and I'd say very informal for a steakhouse - something I appreciate. Parking is a bit of a challenge as most of the lot is inexplicably valet for its size. Just feels weird to have valet get the car when it would have been quicker to walk to it. Once inside, service was pretty good. Mike was attentive and energetic. But maybe just a bit too energetic. He wedged himself between me and a guest and kept brushing me or pushing me as he explained the menu or took our orders. I know I said intimate, but I'm pretty sure I could have had my personal space a bit more respected. We didn't go crazy but we did sample a bit. The old fashioned is awesome - packs a great punch but oh so smooth. The wine list is extensive and the malbec pairs really nicely with the meal. As for the food, I was left wanting a lot more. The bone marrow was probably the best side of the bunch and added even more flavor to the steak. The sprouts seemed flavorless and a bit undercooked. Crispy fries are a bit overseasoned, but their texture was spot on and cooked just about perfect. And although the mushrooms were very good, they also didn't stand out much. And finally the steak - I got the dry aged ribeye medium rare. Temperature-wise, this was cooked spot on. That was about all it had going for it though. The meat was chewy, sinewy, and would not unstick itself between my teeth. There was a big ball of fat left hanging on by just a thread, and I couldn't figure out why it was left on at all considering it wasn't edible. And what happened to the seasoning? There was very little flavor to the meat, and without some additional salt to bring it out, it was very bland. For the price, and the brand, I expected so much more. There were some positives but the quality of the food seemed inexplicable especially when others offer similar or better quality for sometimes even less. I normally will give the rest of the menu a second chance but this is sadly one time I'll not return.

Yelp
Killeen's STQ has great food. They have burnt ends, an excellent long bone short rib, truffled pasta appetizer...yum!

Kenneth B.

Yelp
I absolutely love love Luvvvvvv this restaurant. Killens STQ really wowed me. I've been to Killens bbq only, and once I found out that they had other restaurants I had to come in and try STQ! First off, the best staff around hands down. Everyone was extremely sweet and very helpful. I already knew a few things that I wanted to try but our waiter pointed us in the right direction to other items. Cocktails were amazing, and the food was even better. Some things that absolutely stood out were the pork belly, crab cake, and beef short rib. Everything we had was great but these things went the extra mile. Love the cozy look of the restaurant inside as well. I will absolutely be back again, but next time I'll save room for dessert because I hear they have the best carrot cake!

Kasey B.

Yelp
When you order a $100 Wagyu steak for your birthday and they give you a chewy prime at best. That is Killen STQ

Abire R.

Yelp
The food here is great! My family and I love coming here often, however the reason for the low score is because of the manager . Our waiter was exceptional . He was so nice and on point . The manager is beyond rude . He is unfriendly and acts like he doesn't want you there . Maybe that's why the restaurant isn't busy anymore like it used to be.

Mari W.

Yelp
EXCELLENT experience this last Saturday night! Shane was our waiter and was so helpful, kind, funny, and professional. We had a large group with lots of particular requests and he handled everything beautifully. Drinks were solid--French 75 was refreshing to start and the Perfect Martini was deserving of its name. The food was incredible. Appetizers: oysters are absolutely a must. I don't usually like them cooked but these were great. Ravioli didn't taste like anything to me but others loved it. Octopus was a surprising favorite for a steakhouse. Buratta was lovely. We had a bunch of different steaks, all cooked different ways and everything came out perfect. Sides were outstanding--creamed corn, mac and cheese, and Brussels. Other end of the table enjoyed the mashed potatoes. Dessert was the only thing that didn't really stand out. The creme brûlée was spot-on, the bread pudding bland, and the other end of the table gobbled up the chocolate cheesecake. I was nervous based on other reviews, but I think you'll be fine if you avoid the rude server. Everyone that stopped by our table was an absolute joy. Decently priced too. We'll be back!

Cynthia V.

Yelp
We came here on a Wednesday evening with a reservation and were immediately seated. The restaurant wasn't full yet, but did fill up with a larger party a few minutes later - so, definitely recommend making a reservation if you can! When you arrive you can smell the smoker pits going, so you know this is going to be a meat-full experience. We started with a round of cocktails and starters: the pork belly (must get - melts in your mouth like meat candy) and the biscuits (also delicious, but the meal does come with complimentary bread service). For the mains, the table had the short rib, the dry aged ribeye, and dry aged strip. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meals - I was hoping for a little more rareness on my medium-rare order, but it was nothing worth sending it back over. The ribeye was melt-in-your-mouth texture, well seasoned, and all around delicious! The sides really hold their own here, too - we tried the onion rings, mac'n'cheese, and brussels - brussels and mac were my favorites. Somehow we convinced ourselves to fit dessert in and shared a slice of the cookies and cream cake - it was a nice way to end the meal, but honestly skippable. After we had placed that order the waiter talked up the bread pudding, so perhaps go that route instead. All in all, the food and drinks were excellent and I would be happy to come back again in the future. Service was friendly yet sporadic - we sat for a long while without anyone coming by several times throughout the meal, and my water glass was only filled once...maybe because we were drinking wine, but I do like to intersperse water in between wine sips. Parking: complimentary valet

Nitasha T.

Yelp
Decided to take my parents somewhere nice and intimate. The place is small, but there's a charm in the layout of the house place and the open kitchen in the back is cool. The food is fantastic. Juicy, cooked to perfection! The in bone lamb is to die for The wait staff are funny and a joy to talk to. It began to be busy later on, but all that did was add to the fun

Chikako S.

Yelp
Had dinner with family including 9 year old kid. Everything we had that night was super good! We asked to make a pasta in half portion for kid and they made perfect one for him! They served appetizers on one big board and it brought wow to our table. Personally I prefer them in individual plates so the dressings won't spread to other foods.

Judy C.

Yelp
2nd time here and I knew we were Gona be soooo FULL! Armando was our waiter and he was amazing! Great attentiveness and has a wonderful smile & provided great hospitality. Their margaritas are great and strong! For starters we got, Grilled Octopus, smoked hummus, spicy tomato, cured meyer lemon wood fired oysters, smoked black garlic butter, parmesan crust Pecan Smoked Pork Belly, Cherry Habanero BBQ sauce (Absolutely MUST GET EACH TIME) ****** -the Smokiness and sweet glaze/melt in your mouth flavor is just superb For entree we got the Shrimp etouffee, long grain rice, lobster And Post Oak Smoked Salt and Pepper Beef Short Rib, Espresso BBQ Sauce 35 ********** -literally the BEST thing on the menu As you can see the Size of this bone is ridiculously huge and FALL OFF THE BONE tenderness. Also has that great bbq smoky flavor and fattiness of some parts were so yummy. For sides I would recommend the creamed corn! Parking - in a lot. But quite small. Make sure you make reservations via open table as it does get quite busy. No one is wearing mask including staff. Good eats & great experience as always!

Mel N.

Yelp
Everything is full of flavor and whatever you order, it's coming out altogether on a board, lol. We got the roasted oysters and they were good, just very gritty and bits of broken oyster shells were inside. The dry aged steak is good, along with the jalapeño cheese grits and cilantro butter. The pork chop is also flavorful, but not consistent. The first time u had it, it was juicy and perfect. The second time I had it, it was drier than a frozen hamburger patty. I feel like the sides outshine the entrées. Get the biscuits!!

Norell E.

Yelp
I wish I could give them 10 stars. Our waiter Anthony was so knowledgeable about all the dishes. The FOOD! Sooo good! For our starter, we had wood fired oysters, smoked black garlic butter, parmesan crust. For our entrees: I had the Post Oak Smoked Salt and Pepper Beef Short Rib, Espresso BBQ Sauce (flavorful) and my husband had the Ribeye - Medium (so juicy and flavorful) . Our sides were Brussels Sprouts, Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese and BBQ Fries.

Jen M.

Yelp
The food was fantastic and the service was great. I had never specifically ordered Spinalis so I was happy to try it. Yum.

Cynthia J.

Yelp
This restaurant is so cute from the outside and the inside is cute as well. It's very honey and calls you to relax while eating. It's good to dress up but it's not fussy. Pretty cool. They have smokers here to cook certain meats and I must warn that it will permeate your clothes. I wear wigs sometimes and the one I wore got thrown out because I didn't feel like washing it, lol. Our waiter was very sweet but a little much with the jokes. It was almost like he wasn't sure what we would give him after the meal. Relax, you will get your 25% at least. So, my sister has only had Killeen BBQ and I actually wanted to take her to their steakhouse which is a bit fancier but she made reservations for here and wanted to continue celebrating my birthday. For appetizers we ordered the sweet and savory pork belly and honey butter biscuits. I've had the pork belly before. Both were delicious and it was a lot so we had a lot of leftovers. For mains my sister had a dry aged ribeye and I had the special crab cake stuffed shrimp. Both were very good and good portions. Leftover city! We also ordered onion rings, Mac n cheese, bruleed cream corn, and delicious Brussel sprouts. All were very delicious and tasty! Dessert was bread pudding and carrot cake for my sister. Yummy and delicious. The portions are huge! We had a great meal but I won't return because of the smoke. More like take out because everything, every single thing was delicious!

Mike P.

Yelp
Great place, food and service! First time to tryout for a good steak dinner and we were NOT disappointed. We're going back!

Art D.

Yelp
Overall a great time and a great experience with great customer service. We visited on a week day to celebrate an event. Parking is valet but comp. We had an rsvp so no issue with getting a table. The restaurant is on the small side and does have a bar; however, it only able to accommodate about 2 couples. Most of the patrons were middle age men. I think I saw two couples and one table with two women. Outside of that all men. The food was excellent. We did all the courses. pork belly and oysters for starters and they both were excellent. Stake for dinner ribeye and it was cooked perfectly and it was delicious. I passed on the desert but was told it was good. Overall I recommend and will visit again.

Chris L.

Yelp
Another post about Mike. Arrogant and abrasive, and very impatient; even when expectations were set upfront. If he doesn't own the place, he sure thinks he does. But he has no awareness of the impact of bad service to the surrounding neighborhood. One bad experience costs you $10 of thousands per year. And this one will cost them Food is excellent, service seemed like I was being bossed around and they didn't want me there. I couldn't finish asking a question before I was told my opinion and my sentence was finished for me. Not what you want when you pay for a $75 steak and an $20 cocktail. Cater to your guests, listen to them; as this is a neighborhood joint. I've lived in the area for 15 years and never been to the place, and now I won't go back. Probably why others don't as well. We came for a 9 person dinner party for our sons 14 year old birthday party. We have 3 kids, with the youngest being 4. Mike was very annoyed with our four year old from the start, to the point we are basically asked to leave prior to finishing dinner. Seem like they were rushing us out. It was not crowded. Then we were thrown a $900 bill with a $200 tip included. Okay, I get it, it's a Snake River farms chicken fried steak which I'll tip for it you treat me like I'm a guest. But don't automatically include it if I'm complaining about your service. You try to fix it. He was rude and made no attempt to even try to resolve the issue he created by pissing off our entire party. 'I don't care if you stay or go', he says. We'll Mr Mike...we go. We go to other places, and I'm sorry Mr Killen sees little value in keeping neighborhood guests happy. I'm sure he wouldn't approve of your behavior if he wants to stay in business. We'll never go back, which is unfortunate because the food is good. So they do that right. Overpriced, but good. Go by yourself and be prepared to valet and be bossed around by the wait staff...you'll be fine. Or maybe save yourself from to head jerk, and go where you will be more appreciated across the street, down the street, around the block.

Yelp
Our go to spot for our special dates. Food and ambiance & service is always excellent.

Samer S.

Yelp
Steaks are awesome and carrot cake tops it off. Sides are incredible. Octopus was on point. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
Nice restaurant for an important date. Good drinks and good, flavorful steaks. Staff members were friendly and helpful but don't expect a complimentary birthday dessert.

Dominique G.

Yelp
No complaints. Amazing service, great food, delicious ambiance, and good drinks. Would highly recommend stopping here. Be sure to save your appetite.

Barret L.

Yelp
Fantastic everything. Very popular, so be sure to make a reservation! Reservations can be made up until 9pm (closing time) but most of the later groups don't wrap up until an hour or so after that. Steak: YUM. They offer both Dry-Aged and Wet-Aged. We opted for Dry-Aged, which our waiter said has a bolder, more distinct flavor - and he was right! Sides: You absolutely cannot go wrong with any of there sides. We split 3 last night and loved every one of them. Our favorite was the Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese! Drinks: They have a LOT to choose from! I went in intending to have a red wine with my steak, but I was swayed by their cocktail menu. My boyfriend had a beer - a delicious Jester King that was a bit of a rare find. I had the Blueberry Mule, which was also quite tasty! Very cool vibe inside. We weren't exactly sure how to dress...it's kind of a mix atmosphere. Generally a little fancier than casual, but the wood & barn style decor permits more flexibility with what you wear.

Yelp
If you want a delicious, heavy cheat meal, this is the place to go. I went to Killen's STQ for a birthday dinner this past weekend. The restaurant is small and quaint. I like that they have an open, transparent kitchen. My bf and I shared a few dishes: 1. Grilled Octopus with Smoked Hummus ($14): It was zesty and refreshing. The grilled octopus was devine. I loved the little pieces of tomato, cauliflower, and nuts, which all had their own unique flavor. 2. Post Oak Beef Rib ($35): It was HUGE, it could feed a whole family. The beef rib was scrumptious - fatty and tender. I barely finished it. 3. Chicken Fried Ribeye ($32): Fried to perfection. It was savory and juicy. The mash potatoes were average but the green beans were flavorful. 4. Creamed Corn ($10): Best creamed corn ever. It was so creamy, rich, and addicting. I had to stop myself from eating all of it. 5. Carrot Cake ($10): Best carrot cake I ever had. Omgggg. I loved the little pieces of fried carrot shavings on top, along with the raisins and nuts, which added some crunch and texture. We spent about $150 (including tip and alcohol) for everything. Wanna splurge on an exquisite meal at a classy bbq restaurant? Definitely recommend trying Killen's STQ.

Yelp
I've been trying to find time to try this restaurant for the last year and finally got a chance to check them out. It's located on Voss between Westhimer Rd. and San Felipe St. It almost looks barn-like; but don't let the exterior deceive you. It is a beautiful restaurant. Okay so when you pull up. There is complimentary valet. The restaurant is very small so there shouldn't be a very long line going or coming. When walking in, the host stand is to the right and a full bar is to the left. With an open kitchen in front of the tables. Okay so we ordered the Bone Marrow Tuna Tartare, the gumbo. For dinner Snapper and the angus beef ribeye. And Tres leches bread pudding for dessert. Everything was delicious. The service was great as well. I will definitely be returning to try the carrot cake soon. And they have these super cool steak knives. In case you're looking for a gift for someone they told me that you can order them on Amazon. The brand is Fortessa. I thought it was really nice of them to share that info. This is a really great restaurant.

Yelp
OUTSTANDING! Once again, a Killens restaurant lives up to the hype. My cousin and I started our meal with the bone marrow and burrata appetizers. Both were delicious, although I felt the chimichurri on the bone marrow was a bit overpowering, so I missed that marrow flavor that I love so much. For entrees, we both enjoyed a couple of spectacular dry-aged ribeyes, which were beautifully marbled and absolutely delivered on that intense beef flavor that can only be achieved with proper dry aging. Mine was topped with Foie Gras, and while that gem was certainly not needed, it was a decadently delicious splurge. My cousin ordered the Mac and cheese topped with brisket burnt ends, and she raved about it. She shared the leftovers with her kids the next day, and they loved it, as well. Another standout was the croissant bread pudding. I didn't try it, so I'll share their words: "OMG," "sweet and smoky," "creamy, buttery," "wow." Service was over the top gracious! Our server treated us as though we were a guest in his home... very welcoming and warm. I suspect I will be craving that steak perfection again and will definitely return ;)

Yelp
We chose Killen's STQ to celebrate our 21st anniversary and it did not disappoint! From the valet, to the host? to the waitress everyone was so welcoming! Miia (probably not spelling it right sorry) was able to answer all our questions and was very sweet and attentive our entire visit. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great food: Steak and sides were well cooked and tasted great. Service/ambience: Was very meh. Rather go somewhere else to have a special night. Glad I didnt bring someone that would've been disappointed if it was their birthday/celebration.

Yelp
Went again. Ordered the short rib and snapper. The mac and cheese was different from my last experience and so was the crab cake. The place was packed. Service was also as expected.

Yelp
Absolutely sumptuous meal at this steakhouse / New American restaurant from the people of Killen's BBQ fame. Started with two complimentary styles of warm, delicious bread that were followed by an order of beef short rib tamale, brisket chili, cotija cheese, and fresh pico. Proceeded to entrees of chicken fried ribeye with mashed potatoes and green beans as well as a 14 oz USDA prime dry aged ribeye. These were accompanied by sides of smoked Gouda mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts. Finished off with dessert of bread pudding. All of this was washed down by a 2016 bottle of malbec from Finca La Escuela in Paraje Altamira, Mendoza, Argentina. Not exaggerating when I say *everything* was mindblowingly delicious, though the smoked Gouda mac and cheese was really something special. Additionally, our server could not have been more attentive and helpful, and was spot on with the recommendations he provided. Knowing the quality of Killen's Barbecue, I had high hopes for this place, and my expectations were met and surpassed.

Yelp
Killens never let us down when we need a place to celebrate something. From birthdays to anniversaries, we've chosen killens STQ over and over again. Why? Because they never miss the target! They're on point very single time. Our usually order has always been the chicken fried steak, the beef rib , MUST HAVE CREAM CORN. I don't care what you do get otherwise but the cream corn is a must side. The service is always great. Always a recommendation to come here for date night or celebratory dinner.

Yelp
I love Killen's bbq, and I've heard their steakhouse is divine, so I was excited to try out STQ - a combination of both! Perhaps I set my expectations too high, but unfortunately I was disappointed. Considering the price, I was expecting the interior to be nicer and the service to be better, but both were just average. I did appreciate the card they left on the table for me, but other than that, there wasn't anything truly special about the experience. There were 3 of us, even though we ordered enough for 5. The apps were okay, the sides were slightly better, but we barely made a dent in the entrees. The highlight of our meal were the drinks (bartender was generous with the pour) and the carrot cake for dessert.

Yelp
If you care more about the food and less about having a fancy upscale surrounding, this is the place! Wow!! Casual atmosphere in a smaller than expected room. Dress code says business casual but many men wore polos or shirts (no jackets). Friendly service. Four of us shared the creamed corn ravioli appetizer (fantastic). Filet mignon cooked to perfection. The star of the evening was the Post Oak beef short rib marinated with their signature espresso sauce!! The Gouda and Mac side was delicious! Desert was so-so...the Killen's BBQ in Pearland has much better tasting deserts in our opinion. All in all a very satisfying experience. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Food amazing as always. This location is understaffed. watched people walk out because they waited over 10 minutes to be served at the bar. Bartender was slammed helping out in dining area. we waited over 15-20 minutes for her to get to us to make drinks. again because she was waiting on tables in dining area. waiters never told us about happy hour. Tony was excellent! Servant's heart, patient with us, helped bartender close the gap. Bartender when she helped us was excellent! Not quite to Mr. Killen's standard but the food is worth it!

Yelp
Valet parking seemed a bit over the top for this restaurant, but that was okay. The wedge salad was great, and the potatoes au gratin were awesome. The shrimp on pasta with crab was good, except the sauce was terrible--some kind of lemon/orange flavor sauce. Biscuits with honey were delicious, as was the regular bread with butter. Unfortunately, the server did not return to ask how the dishes were after serving. I got his attention and pointed out that the gouda mac and cheese was watery; he claimed that this was "normal" and asked if I was okay with it, to which I replied, "No, but that's ok," then walked away without response and didn't offer to take it off the bill or anything or just an apology. Which is fine, but other similar restaurants would have said or done something. The server seemed more interested in upselling high-end items like the $200-$300 meat meals (off-menu). Regular drink refills were timely, but water refills did not happen. We had high expectations for this place, given the amazing sister restaurants, but this one was more "meh."

Yelp
Very cute little restaurant - and when I say little - there's probably a good 15-20 tables! No wonder they'll always booked out in advance! Make reservations, cause I made mine about 1-2 months in advance for a party of 6 and wasn't able to get in on a Saturday until 9:15pm! Luckily they had a cancellation and when they called to confirm the day before, I was able to move up to 7:45pm! Complimentary valet parking with tips! The restaurant itself smells so delicious once you open the door - the smell of BBQ and wood smoked meats just permeates the air and you drool over the food being served to other tables. We love Killen's BBQ so was so excited to try this place out! We opted for: Beef Short Ribs Tamales - A-Ok.. I wouldn't rave about this dish but it was good. You get 2 tamales opened and already mixed with all the goodies. Crab Cakes - Yes!! Can't go wrong with this one! It was all southern flavors and delicious with a ton of crab! You only get 1 crab cake per order but it was well worth it and we were able to share and each get a bite between a party of 4. Special Watermelon Salad with Pickled Beets - I've had a compressed and grilled watermelon salad before.. grilled watermelon you ask?! Yup! They basically grilled, compress, freeze and repeat the process over again.. If you ask me, the watermelon failed to get the grilled flavor and I've had before where it is done so many times you can taste the compressed watermelon but this wasn't the case. But the watermelon was sweet and fresh and the pickled veggies on top were delish as well and I don't even like beets. But I think "salad" was used loosely because it was just watermelon and some pickled veggies without all the greens that comprise a salad. Candied Pork Belly - Yum! Small bites of candied pork belly that was sweet and delicious and melts in your mouth. Delish! We didn't order this but the table next too us ordered too much food and allowed me to try a piece! I would definitely get this next time! Steaks - we ordered the filet, the ribeye and the NY strip. All the steaks were seasoned and cooked perfectly and very good cuts of meat. The filet was tender and delicious. The ribeye was really really fatty, even for a ribeye and the bf said it was a little tough. Though I still enjoyed it. If you're really really adventurous - they offer waygu as well. The special was a 40oz waygu bone-in ribeye (tomahawk for $172)... Sides: Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese - do yourself a favor and get this because it was delicious and I could've eaten the whole thing myself. Esp the bread crumbs on top.. so good and creamy!!! Excellent flavors. Mash Potatoes - nothing special about this one.. just as you would expect it. Collard Greens with Pork - good flavors and everyone liked it. We were too full for dessert but there was such a great selection, I'm FOMOing that I missed out. Maybe next time! Well done Killens!!! We will be back! One of the better steak houses in Houston for sure!!!

Yelp
Food started great with the Tex-Mex bbq tamales and crab cake. Rib eye was good, and more than enough to split for two. Sides weren't memorable Should have passed on the creme brulee, as the smokey flavor didn't really come through. Space was pretty casual, and nice to have valet. Service slowed as we got toward the end of our meal and had to flag our waiter down for the check.

Yelp
If you are into smoky meats, this is your place! The smell of smoking meat fills the air and it is awesome. The restaurant has limited seating capacity so make a reservation. Start with the pork belly appetizer. Melts in your mouth. The short rib and filet mignon were excellent choices for main proteins. I really enjoyed the carrot sides. Opted out of dessert.
