"A young couple swapped their city lifestyle for this period country house in the Cairngorms National Park, which they lovingly restored to fuse original and modern features. Arrive at 7pm for drinks before dining on a tasting menu of Scottish classics brought playfully up to date. Bedrooms are sumptuous." - Michelin Inspector

"On the edge of Cairngorms National Park, Killiecrankie House is a five-room restaurant-with-rooms where the focus is firmly on food. The tasting menu blends Japanese kaiseki traditions with Scottish ingredients served in a dining room with views of the surrounding woodland. Rooms are dark, well-designed, and minimal, each with a four-poster bed and freestanding bath. There's a whisky library, a vinyl collection, and a sense that every detail has purpose. Pitlochry is 10 minutes away, but it is hard to leave once you have arrived." - Tablet Hotels

What a lovely, splendid, thing Matilda and Tom have done at Killiecrankie House. They are at the very top of their game. The food was extraordinary. The wine spectacular. The wonderful stories that pair with each were fascinating and enhancing. It was an unforgettable experience. Absolutely superb in every way. Thank you to you both and all the brilliant people you have working with you.

A cosy haven with fabulous food. Lovely rooms and warm hospitality from the whole team. Dinner was exceptionally tasty with some unusual ingredients making it a unique experience. Breakfast was equally delicious. Be back soon as we can! Thanks.

We travelled to killiekrankie for our honeymoon and had an absolutely brilliant time. Matilda and Tom are really incredible hosts and the hotel itself is stunning. We were lucky enough to stay for two nights and had the chef’s table on the evening we had dinner in the restaurant. Tom took the time to explain how he’d developed his dishes and was super attentive despite running service. Matilda is such a knowledgable sommelier and has curated a fantastic wine list. She also did a whisky tasting for us which was really interesting and very fun as we tried to guess what all the different aromatics were. Mollie, the hotel mixologist, was equally friendly and has created some really delicious and interesting concoctions - both alcoholic and non. We loved our time at Killiekrankie and will definitely be back. The team have created something really special that you won’t experience anywhere else.

A truly remarkable experience in every way. We did the Chef’s Counter experience and had the absolute best time! Incredible food, friendly and knowledgeable people, and wonderful space - if you’re even considering booking, just go ahead and do it. Thank you Tom and Matilda!!

Stayed here in June 2025. The property is lovely. Large rooms with large bathrooms with tub and shower. Very attentive and personal service from all staff and proprietors Matilda and Tom. A unique and very enjoyable experience. Delicious breakfast. Nice wine and sake list. A cool, separate and well-stocked bar. A pre-dinner and hanging out lounge with an extensive cookbook library and vinyl collection (music played on record players in the dining room and the lounge). Topping it all is a first class tasting menu dinner. To find all this in a slightly remote location in the Scottish highlands is a delight, a travel experience to be remembered.

Our children gifted us the tasting lunch for our 60th birthdays and it was beyond fantastic. (We travelled from New Zealand!) Greeted by Matilda for cocktails in the garden followed by an incredible tasting lunch accompanied by music (old vinyl) chosen by the chef. Attention to detail-amazing. Highly recommend as a high end dining experience. What an amazing job Matilda and Tom have done reinventing themselves away from the corporate life in London into a most beautiful peaceful environment. We wish you every success and hope to come back one day. Thank you for a very memorable day.

Michelin where are you? What an amazingly thoughtful and creative tasting menu. We loved it all - from start to finish! Such detail and care put into the food, overall atmosphere and music selections. Lovely place to visit! Thank you so much for the recommendations on places to eat in Edinburgh! Good luck. P.S. Open a spot in Santa Fe! :)

Place is amazing. Matilda, Tom and their team are fantastic, right from arrival to departure. The food was very special, lots of surprising twists and different takes on familiar things. Cocktails were lovely, the area is beautiful. Nothing to complain about. We have already booked our return visit.
