"Los Angeles is home to many solid Vietnamese restaurants, and Kim Hoa Hue is one of the best. The Central Vietnamese specialist recently opened a second location in Temple City; the original restaurant is on Garvey Avenue in El Monte. The menu at the new branch is familiar, chock-full of Hue classics like bun bo Hue, banh bot loc (tapioca dumplings), and banh nam (steamed pork and shrimp “cakes”). Get the Hue combo to try a bit of everything." - Cathy Chaplin

The owners are from Hue, Vietnam, so the food is authentic. We are fans of the banh nam and bun bo hue. You really can’t go wrong with any item on the menu.

Good pho and Bun Bo hue

Yelp
We always order bun bo hue here. It's my family's favorite place! I'm sad that they moved from El Monte to Temple City. We have been loyal customers for more than a decade! Service is always good. The only minor issue is sometimes the broth for bun bo hue is more salty than other times. Overall good but could improve with its consistency. We always come back though!

Yelp
I wanted to love this place, since I've been craving bun Bo hue and there's no good places around me. This is a lot closer than going to Orange County. However OC still proves to be the only place for great quality bun bo hue. This place's broth tastes a little off to me. It's delicious don't get me wrong, just missing some bun Bo hue flavor? Im not sure how else to describe it. The service was also pretty bad, but that's expected of a Vietnamese restaurant lol

Yelp
Ordered on DoorDash for the first time and I really enjoyed it! Will definitely order from here again. Chao long hue (pork) so flavorful you don't need to add anything!! Tasted like how my mom/dad would make it. It was really good especially now that I'm sick. Banh uot thit nuong wow never had it before and it was really good. Pork tasted great Che bau mau yum! Not my favorite Che but it was really good! Bun thit nuong the pork was the same as the banh out. Very tasty Overall everything was really good and exceeded my expectations!

Yelp
I was the only one in the restaurant so I was served pretty quickly. The food was average at most and unfortunately the little rolls I got with my dinner was cold and probably fried earlier in the day. I ate one and unfortunately left the other ones. I ordered a hot tea which I got but the waiter never came back after delivering my food. I wanted to give this place try since it was new, and for my first visit I was not impressed.

Yelp
Food - 5/5 - The food quality is consistent as the first location and just as tasty. With Hue Cuisine as the specialty, this restaurant never misses with the authentic and delicious flavors that go into each dish. This is one of the go-to spots that my Hue lineage approves of. My favourite is getting the combo plates of the rice cakes or Bun Bo hue. Price - $$ - The pricing isn't cheap but it is decently priced. Whether it is a bowl of noodles or a plate of rice cakes, the pricing is quite average. Service - 4/5 - The servers are quite kind and efficient. Some members of the staff aren't as proficient with English as others so please have some patience when communicating. They really are trying their best. If you speak the language, of course that makes communication much easier. Ambiance - 4/5 - The atmosphere is cozy and clean. It has quite a typical Vietnamese restaurant vibe. Great for family and friends to gather. Location - 4/5 - This location is much larger than the El Monte location and has a nice parking lot right next to it. Definitely more convenient to go to. ____________________ **Note: Location rating does not affect yelp review, this is just for informative purposes of other patrons only.

Yelp
Seems like a good authentic spot. Packed on a Friday night although the place isn't very big. I'll be honest in that I wasn't overly impressed with the food but the smoothies were legit. I like that they make smoothies from scratch with real ingredients. I had the mung bean smoothie and you could taste the real chunks of mung bean in it. For food, my boyfriend ordered bun bo hue. He said the beef was tender and they gave a lot of pork knuckle. I ordered the C9, which was a rice cake combo. Unique since I haven't had some of these cakes but it was very filling and the taste left me wishing it was more flavorful. Relies a lot on the fish sauce for added flavor. Textures were nice to explore but this almost feels like a dish to be shared. I think the bánh bèo lacked the crispy scallions I'd get from some places so it wasn't as flavorful or interesting in terms of texture. But convenient and a nice family restaurant makes this a 3.5 star place for food, rounded up as encouragement for a mom and pop shop. Parking easily available in the lot next to it.

Yelp
Found this spot randomly on yelp. 1. bun bo hue, strong flavored broth, beef was solid, definitely not a bland place like a lot of other Vietnamese restaurants in 626 area. 2. pho tai with beef ball (sleeper item), soup has great flavor, noodles were nice and bouncy. Would come back. Great for 626 pho.

Yelp
Great new restaurant in our neighborhood. The bun bo hue broth was light, crisp and full of flavor. Sometimes BBH broth can overpowering but it was perfect here. Chili sauce is available if you like it spicier. The rice paper roll with charbroiled beef was also good. We will be coming back to try the other dishes.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the broth of the bun bo hue was comforting, meaty, and not too fatty. The Vietnamese coffee was also very strong. Service was also great.

Yelp
We were craving some Hue dishes and drove to El Monte for a quick bite. Thankfully, there was a huge sign directing us to their new location, which luckily coincided with their grand opening week. Happy find. Happy tummies. The taste hasn't changed from their previous hole in the wall location, but now you can enjoy dishes in a nicer location with clean decor. Tables turn relatively quickly so don't shy away if you see a line. The wait list is at the front by the register. Staff appeared slightly overwhelmed, but it's their grand opening so give them a chance to become accustomed to their roles. Solid food. Easy parking. Friendly staff. I wish they offered more do-it-yourself options, like nem nuong or nem chua cuon options. I mean, why not? Less work for them!

Yelp
Agreed with most people's reviews so far! Woke up from a long nap wanting Vietnamese food and this place is so mom and pop vibes. In a good way? I'm not sure yet. I found the service to be relatively quick and attentive, no complaints. I started off ordering bun Bo hue as a safe bet, and I was satisfied, but I'm on board with others reviews saying it kinda lacks a bit in flavor. In addition, I ordered banh nam(flat rice shrimp and pork dumpling) and it was pretty tasty with generous portion. I saw sinh to mang cau(soursop smoothie) and immediately ordered that since it's one of my favs! Food is definitely more on the homestyle side tasting if that makes sense, seems like they might be using less artificial ingredients which is good. I saw a few flies roaming around when I was there. Overall, I'm happy to have a new option for smoothies and hue style dishes that I dont have to drive down to valley or Garvey or little Saigon for! My favorite was the smoothie, but that's neither here or there. It's honestly a 3.5/5 place for me so far but they deserve the 4 stars as a new business! For really good BBH I'd definitely recommend nha trang or five stars hue in the sgv. I would come here mostly for their drinks and unique banh banana leaf wrapped style dishes.

Yelp
6/22/2024. This place wasn't a disappointment but also not impressive. Service was good. Food is definitely mom and pop quality. Pricing is decent and parking is awesome, as compared to summer rolls (the original location). It wouldn't be a must to return but if I had a quick craving while visiting SGV I guess this would be an option.

Lucy T.

Yelp
Mi Quang was the best out of SGV. However their Nem Chua smells really bad because it didn't come with chilies and garlic. I did talk to the server but he gave me an attitude, saying that Nem Chua Hue supposed to smells like deadass rat like that, Lmao 4 Stars for food 0 star for service

Yelp
Looking for recommendations actually and to confirm this restaurant IS OPEN. I've tried green young jackfruit salad from another place in El Monte. Monday closed Open 10-8

Trach L.

Yelp
The positive reviews must be from family and friends. I've never been so disappointed with Vietnamese food. The pho was below average. The egg rolls were terrible. We also had a dry rice vermicelli plate that was horrible. The waitress didn't speak English and I had to take out the Google translate to even order water. I'm sorry to have to leave this review, but people should know the truth.

Yelp
This place is hit and miss. Service is definitely spotty but I kinda expected it for an Asian restaurant (pretty sad). Bun bo hue is hit and miss, Sometimes the dish is spot on, sometimes the meat is still tough. Same with banh khoai. In our last try, it was extremely oily, the shrimps were not fresh and there was not enough veggies and herb provided. The banh beo chen is decent. The banh nam sometimes is undercooked. You could still see the uncooked flour portion. Overall, I'm a little disappointed because I was excited that this restaurant is now closer to me. it's ok if you crave Hue type dishes but it'll take me a while to come back.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place. But definitely not worth it. Food is mediocre. Service is ok considering not a lot of customers. I ordered Togo from here a few nights ago. Total disappointment. Said pick up was ready in 15mins. I got there 30mins later food wasn't ready. Didn't seem like anyone wanted to run the restaurant. So if they aren't going to care for customer service why should I care to support.

Yelp
decided to give this place a try when i heard that there was a new vietnamese place in town. the bon bo hue was very flavorful and the broth was rich. the egg rolls were super crispy and we thoroughly enjoyed the spring rolls. took off a star because it does get pretty crowded on the weekends and also ten dollars for two spring rolls is a bit wild to me. however, i would say that this is a pretty solid spot if you're craving for some vietnamese food. the interior of the restaurant was very clean and well lit.

Amy T.

Yelp
This is a Vietnamese restaurant that actually moved locations. No pictures cuz we ate everything but the food is really good. We ordered the bun bo hue and pho. Both items were big portions, authentic, and flavorful. The meat was tender, and the meatballs were delicious. Pho broth is on the sweeter side. Costs about $15 for a large size pho/bunbohue but they don't skimp on ingredients. Overall I'd come here again to try out their rice dishes.

Yelp
Food: Hue combo #1 Bun mit Mi quang Goi bo Experience: They are closed on Mondays. Bun mit was the highlight. If you are a fan of mam nem, this is a dish for you So good! The Hue combo is a great appetizer for the table. It comes with a variety of different Hue specialties. The salad dressing that came with the goi bo was a Vietnamese twist on the thousand Island dressing. The noodles in the mi quang were a little overcooked but the soup was tasty. It was overall a positive experience. There's street parking and parking in the back. Verdict: Will definitely return to try other items on their menu like their bun bo hue and nem lui.

Mike L.

Yelp
This place is clean and beautiful. Love the fish tank near the entrance. The kids love watching all the colorful fish. We ordered the bun bo hue and mi quang and both were delicious and authentic. Service was good. Can't wait to come back and try the other dishes .

Yelp
This spot opened up in Temple City a few this ago and I finally had the chance to check it out. I was surprised to find the store a bit more vacant as the food was absolutely delicious and filling. The durian smoothie was particularly affordable with chunks of the fruit. I really enjoyed my experience and look forward to returning soon.

Brian T.

Yelp
Always good food. A good place for those banh beo craving. Their dessert is good too.

Christine T.

Yelp
3.5/5 stars Not a bad addition and I think the menu options here are a bit more unique/offers Vietnamese dishes that you might not see in other Viet restaurants around. It wasn't too busy when I went on a Friday so that was nice! I had the Bun Bo Hue and it was good, no complaints. I don't think it stood out to me in comparison to other places but if you're looking for a solid bowl of Bun Bo Hue you can't go wrong coming here. I also ordered the porridge and that was the best dish I had here. I think there was chicken stock or something added in, but whatever it was, it gave the porridge a strong and comforting flavor. Delicious! The fish sauce here is definitely on the stronger/sweeter side which I didn't mind but my dad said it was a bit too sweet for him. Overall, a good dinner and would come back here to try some of the drinks/dessert options.

Yelp
Did not realize they had moved from their other location. Glad there was a sign with this new location address. Even they moved, the food tastes the authentically same. Bun Bo Hue is packed with flavors and spice. It is my favorite. This is a must try for those that live around Temple City. There are many other Vietnamese places but, this place is like being' in Hue, Vietnam when you have a taste of their flavors. Servers are great and inside is very clean.

Alex L.

Yelp
New viet restaurant in temple city. New and clean restaurant I think they just moved locations from el monte. Banh beo and nem nuong was pretty good. For the bun bo hue it could've used a bit heavier flavor but that's just me personally since I grew up on it. Whole meal was around $54 so pretty decent.

Dee D.

Yelp
This is their newly open location in Temple City. Nice and clean. We usually go to their El Monte location, and this location is closer to our house. Their food here never disappoint us. Price is reasonable and the portion is good. Service is ok like any other typical restaurants. You need to wave at the waitstaff to get the service. And they do not ignore you.

Aaron O.

Yelp
We got the bunbao combo, miquang and BBH. These three dishes are in my top 5 favorite vietnamese dishes and i didnt expect all three dishes to taste so good! The staff was fast and attentive and food came out really fast. The salted lemon drink and ice tea really flowed with the food and i felt like i was teleported back to vietnam for a couple minutes!

Lisa Y.

Yelp
Restaurant is NOT closed and is definitely open for business. Yelp can sometimes do such a disservice to small businesses... Sigh...

Tyson W.

Yelp
Delicious bun bo hue with decent portions. The only issue was that the staff wasn't as attentive. Overall good food

Kim V.

Yelp
It's our first time calling in for a to-go order. The owner said that it would be ready in 15 minutes. We showed up 20 minutes later, and the food was not ready. The restaurant was not busy. There was only 1 table of 4. We ended up waiting for another 25 minutes (total wait time: 45 minutes since the order was placed!). How long should anyone wait for spring rolls, egg rolls, and 2 combination dishes (C9). Don't waste your time here until the restaurant owners get their service in order! When we got home, two of our orders were wrong! Please avoid this place!

Khoa N.

Yelp
The best Vietnamese food in San Gabriel valley. Best Bún Bo Huế I ate in a long time.

Kevin N.

Yelp
Just tried the place. It was real delicious. Bun Bo Hue is one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes, and it tasted just right. The service was real nice and attentive. And the restaurant was real clean. Can't wait to come back and try their other dishes.

Quyen V.

Yelp
They are not true Hue dishes. Banh bot loc flour hard as gummy bear, and banh nam texture hard as tapioca And bun bo hue beef tendon hard as rubber tire. sorry not pass.
