This restaurant is very busy. We waited 25 minutes for a table for lunch on Sunday. When we left around 2 PM, there were people waiting as well. This is one of the few noodle house serve authentic Chew Chow noodles. Overall taste good and reasonable price. There are several rice noodles and egg noodles to choose from. You can also request 2 different kinds of noodles in the same bowl.

This restaurant is known for teochew cuisine and has mix of noodles, rice dishes and everything else in between. On a Sunday lunch hour, the restaurant is buzzing with loyal patrons as the noodle soups here are tasty. Also the filet mignon with red rice is good too. It's cash only so remember to bring cash. Parking is available in the lot but it'll be busy so come early or will have to park on the street.

Kim Ky has 3 locations: San Gabriel Blvd in San Gabriel and Garvey Ave in Rosemead and one in Westminster. Make sure you bring CASH because it's cash only! Food is decent! Service is great! Servers are friendly and helpful! Make sure you order their fried fish cakes because it's one of their signature dish. Similar review as I left for the other location, For the food alone, i would give it a 4 star. Interior is old and not as clean so I would give it a 3.5. I want to give them a better rating because this place is classic and they have been serving the SGV for such a long time with consistent quality of food.

They never take a break, working every day for seven or eight years, and during that time, they managed to buy two or four houses." Both are great: Fortune No. 1 on Valley Boulevard in Monterey Park and Kim Ky in San Gabriel. In my opinion, Kim Ky is top-notch in terms of flavor. The funny thing is that I've only visited this restaurant twice in the past eight years, mainly because they close at 5 p.m. It's quite unusual for a restaurant to skip serving dinner. As I was preparing the photos for this review, I was surprised to realize that I ordered the same dishes on both of my visits. They were simple, straightforward dishes, but they were outstanding. Kim Ky is a Vietnamese-style Chinese restaurant—or at least they speak Chinese. Their menu primarily features noodles, both rice noodles and wheat noodles, with seven types to choose from. I prefer wheat noodles over rice noodles—thinner is better, at least for me. The restaurant has several light boxes in front of the window displaying the current jackpots for several big lotteries. Strangely, though, I've never seen them sell lottery tickets inside. But don't be fooled by the appearance or color—it's not spicy at all, and there's no chili pepper in it. The flavor of the satay was incredibly authentic, just like the kind I had in Chaozhou. The beef was tender and juicy, and the thin yellow noodles were perfectly cooked—not too hard, not too soft. This isn't a noodle soup; it's mixed noodles with sauce, so skip it if you prefer soup-based noodles. Rating: 8/10 Assorted Beef Variety or Assorted Pork Variety Both are good, but I recommend the pork version over the beef. The reason is simple: you get more variety with pork because it's easier to source the ingredients. The pork version includes intestine, heart, kidney, liver, and more. With the beef version, you mainly get tripe—and only white honeycomb tripe, which doesn't taste as good as the black tripe. Beef: 7/10, Pork: 8/10 Fried Chinese Doughnuts These are Chinese doughnuts, but different from the local Shanghainese style. The Shanghai version is lighter and crispier, but these are still very good. Rating: 8/10 Assorted Meat & Shrimp If you can't decide what to order, go with No. 1 on the menu. It's a noodle soup served in a light yet umami-rich broth with Thai basil and other fresh herbs you can add to the hot soup. The noodles come with pork kidney, shrimp, ground pork, and other ingredients. It's a consistently satisfying dish. Rating: 8/10

Just absolutely fantastic noodle spot. Not sure how Kim Ky and Kim Kee are related but I am guessing someone from this one branches out to make their own? The side dishes are definitely bigger here and they give you a lot of noodles here. I've been here three times in a week and I am not ashamed. The meat variety with shrimp I think it's called is absolutely amazing. I think it's the #7. Very busy here but moves pretty quick and it's cash only so you know it's great! LOL.

I've been going here since middle school and it's still so memorable! I usually order the #1. I love that you can choose if you want soup on the side or not and that you can choose your noodles. Yes, the parking is small and is difficult when it's busy. Yes, the restaurant is a little dated -- but it just adds more character. I went today (on Mother's day), and it did take awhile for the food to come.... but no complaints! Just more time to spend with my family.

When walking in, you can tell from the vibes, that you are going to be taken care of pretty well. The servers were so attentive and sweet. There was a hefty menu and my friend said she wanted to order everything because it all looked so good & I'd have to say I agree. I ordered number 18, the Ribs in Black Bean Sauce w/ Rice Noodle with the egg noodles. All our food arrived promptly and steaming. The broth was so rich and tasty. The noodles were cooked to perfection. The ribs were fall off the bone as well. The restroom was pretty clean and spacious. The only thing to look out for is that the parking is quite small and the restaurant accepts cash only. Would come here again & try the rest of the menu.

Kim Ky is a staple in our household. Whether we decide to dine in or carry out, we love our Kim Ky. Although the food is delicious, it's the aunties that make the experience. They work incredibly hard and try their best to help you quickly. I normally order the pork kidney and shrimp with egg noodle but decided to try their beef brisket stew with egg noodle. I was pleasantly surprised with how tender the meat was, and was totally blown away. Highly recommend, along with their French coffee if you need a boost. Mine woke me up in the evening and carried me through the night. A small lot is available but street parking is an option with a short walk. Cash only.

I came here via car on a Sunday afternoon in mid March 2025. They have a small free parking lot that gets super busy. I've had this place in my bookmarks for years but never catch them when they're actually open. I ordered their Filet Mignon with Red Rice, Fried Rice Cake with Soy Sauce, Beef Brisket Stew with Egg Noodles, and their Green Vegetables with Oyster Sauce. My favorite was the Fried Rice Cake with Soy Sauce. You have to eat it fresh though - they don't keep very well. I ordered over the phone then paid and picked up my order when I got there. The restaurant was packed! Would highly recommend if you're in the area.

I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid with my parents, and it never disappoints. My go-to is the seafood noodle soup with Chinese donuts for dipping such a perfect combo. But the real star for me is their seafood soft chow mein noodles. No other place makes it as good and I love that they include soup on the side to seal the deal. I have tried other locations like the ones in Rosemead and Monterey Park, but they just do not taste the same despite being Kim Kee. The food here has the perfect seasoning and that signature wok hei flavor. My boyfriend finally gave in after I kept telling him about this place, and now he is hooked on their crispy chicken chow mein. It is his must have whenever we visit my family. The best part? The prices are relatively affordable. Two of our favorite dishes came out to $31 before tip, which is a great deal for the quality and portion sizes. The ambiance has a warm, family-gathering feel. You see people of all ages eating here--from grandparents enjoying a comforting bowl of noodle soup to kids slurping up chow mein with their parents. It is a no-frills, casual spot where the focus is on good food and shared meals. The restaurant is a bit small, so seating is limited, and it gets packed during peak hours, especially on weekends. Expect a bit of a wait, but turnover is fairly quick. Customer service is not the most attentive, but that is expected in a busy spot like this. As long as the food is good, I do not mind. Parking can be hectic so just parked in the neighborhood or the sides of the street ! Cash only spot !! Definitely coming back again!

One of the OG Cambodian / Chiu Chow restaurants in LA. Portions are generous and prices are decent. The service is a miss, but that's just typical SGV. Luckily, the food is pretty authentic and reminds me of a meal cooked at home.

*CASH ONLY* The ladies that run the restaurant work so hard -- this is not a knock against them at all. They work so hard to run the restaurant, but our experience was a little lacking. FOOD: Ordered #2 dry style with thick egg noddles. The noodles themselves were delicious and al dente. The perfect springiness to the noodle. There was a good mix of seafood present in the dish. The shrimp cracker wasn't as crispy as I would've hoped and was a little stale. I would probably get some form of noodles again -- I love anything with egg noodles so this was a hit for me. PARKING: Small lot or street parking. We ended up doing street parking. Perhaps it was the day we went, but there was a lot of people that were chain smoking outside of the restaurant. The door was left open, so the entire restaurant was filled with smoke for a solid 20 minutes. I was really nauseous when eating at the restaurant, which contributed to the overall experience.

I took my mom here cuz I wanted their house special noodle soup, the one with the pork kidney, shrimp and minced pork. I was going to go to a different restaurant but since this place is fairly new, I thought I try it out. Is on San Gabriel Blvd right next to the tattoo shop. They have their own parking but is tight, better to park on the streets. When we walk in, it was a full house, it was pretty packed. They sat us down in the booth and brought out our menu. I already know what I want cuz I saw their menu on yelp. I ordered the same for my mom. But to our disappointment was that the waitress lady said that hey are out of pork kidneys, they were out for a couple of days already. Pork kidney is not that hard to find, you can actually buy it at any supermarket. She said they will substitute it for another meat, it looks like beef brisket to me. I was bummed. Then we ordered our drinks, they don't have milk tea (is black tea with evaporated milk and condensed milk) is on their menu. I wanted to try their iced coffee with milk tea and they don't have that either. So disappointed, I should of gone to the first place I intended to go instead if I had known they were out of so many things. So I got the lemon ice tea and my mom got some Chinese assorted herbal soup, my mom thought it was hot cuz she can't drink cold stuff and it came out like a cup of shaved ice, then I asked for a cup of hot tea instead, but I still willingly to keep the herbal soup if that's what they called it lol. When our soup came out, it still looks good but hoping for some pork kidney instead of fatty brisket. I like the broth, is clean and light, that's what I wanted. I wanted something not too greasy and heavy and this is the right choice. I asked my mom how was it and her response was " is the same as anywhere else " lol is not the same mom, this house special is their special, like every restaurant has their specials. After we paid our bills which came out to almost $40, tips her $6, since they don't come by once to assist how was everything. We also bought $40 worth of Power Ball quick pick $1.1 Billions. Good luck to us lol maybe next time, I'll take my mom to their other location.

Always love me some Kim Ky! They were great pre-covid and still amazing post-covid. Their prices didn't fluctuate significantly like most restaurants. This is my go to for flat rice noodles with liver. Parking lot can be a nightmare but you know because the food is good and everyone is there. There's plenty of parking on the streets. We always get the fried rice cake with soy sauce and recently started adding the fried donut to my soup. It's a nice addition to the noodles. CASH ONLY.

If you come at 9AM l, there's usually never a wait and pretty empty. *Food: The quality of the noodle soup here has always been very consistent and delicious! I always get #1 with thick flat rice noodles and skinny egg noodles in soup. There's also an option to get the soup on the side. Remember to make your dipping sauce - half satay & half hoisin. This is definitely a staple and I always come here at least once when I'm in town!

This place is straight to the point. I love this spot for some Chinese/Vietnamese Noodle Soup. My favorite is the House Special Noodle Soup with Rice & Egg Noodles. I particularly appreciate the customization of the type of noodles you can get. You can mix & match the type of noodles as you please Pro Tip: Please get the Chinese Donut ESPECIALLY if you are getting your soup with broth. You can dunk that bad boy into your broth and it makes for a comforting dish. You can also get your soup dry with the soup on the side. You can't go wrong with this version if you want to try something different. Be sure to use the the condiments to customize your food to your liking. I like to make a sauce with soy sauce, red vinegar, sate oil, and pickled jalapenos.

I have been there many times before when they were my kids' favorite but haven't gone there for a while. The place has gone downhill.. We used to love their chow fun and their #1 or #2 soup noodles but not anymore. They are so bland...tasteless. The soup is like water and the chow fun looks good but no taste. There are many better places to go in San Gabriel. I'm crossing them off my list and will not be back.

Awesome place for comfort Chiu Chow food. Price is decent and portion is generous. Their homemade fish balls are super yummy. It's operated by older folks but the service is prompt. If you are looking for a fancy setting, this is not it. You eat and go, not a place for dwelling or conversation. This place opens early mornings but closed super early around 4:30-5p daily.

I don't know why it's taken me this long to finally try out Kim Ky Noodle House. They're known for their classic noodle soups with various noodles to choose from. We ordered the #1 Assorted Meat & Shrimp with Flat Rice Noodles ($11) and #11 Beef Brisket Stew with Egg Noodles ($11.75). The first one was very light on the broth while the stew was more dense. Honestly, a combination of both of them makes the perfect balance. I did enjoy the stew one a bit more, but I just love braised beef, which were also very tender and juicy. Plus, they were out of pork kidney, so we were missing that element in the first bowl too. The waiters were a bit rude and quick to dismiss us, but that's also typical service at any Asian spot. We ended up getting the to-go containers ourselves. Either way, you can't go wrong with a nice, affordable bowl of noodle soup though. Note that it's cash only though!

It's always crowded. But the fans and AC are good. Food came out pretty quick. The white noodle is good. I'm not a fan of the egg noodle. Free tea. Highly recommend you park at the street next to it (turn right). There are plenty of parking and 2 hours. Walking less than 1 min.

I was craving Teochew/Chiu-Chow style noodle soup so off to Kim Ky I went. I ordered: -Assorted Seafood Noodle Soup: BLAND SOUP BROTH. No taste! The seasoning condiments on the table could NOT fix it. The actual seafood in the soup and noodles were GOOD and fresh! Tip: you order the "soup on the side" is my suggestion. - Fried Cruller (youtiao): Very good! Not too oily even though it was fried. -Filet Mignon cubes over rice: My son ate it and seemed to enjoy the dish. -Fried Fishcake: Very good. Made in house and tasted fresh. Overall Kim Ky was just okay. I think there are better Teochew/Chiuchow noodle houses that I personally prefer. -CASH ONLY-

arrived alone on a Friday at 11:30am. Already full house and had to wait for a table (I didn't want to share a larger table with strangers). got seated at the corner of the room after someone left and dishes were cleared, but the table was still dirty and wet with sauce dripping. Had to wave a waitress down to wipe it clean and bring me a menu. once I'm ready to order I cannot see any server walking in my corner to check. I had to wave down the guy, who told someone else that I need to place an order. waited another couple minutes when the guy gave up waiting and came over to take my order. as other reviewer stated, my order took a while since I didn't order their noodle soup. I've notice another table got their food first even though they placed their order after me. I wanted the house-special rice noodle, as I'd remembered years ago I loved the same dish at Chinatown's Kim Ta. I also ordered a mixed fried balls. the rice noodle had generous shrimp, beef and chicken pieces with chinese broccoli. the noodle has the same fried (almost burnt) flavor, but the dish was missing squid and fishcakes and fried eggs, as I'd remembered (maybe I should have ordered seafood rice noodle but the photo on the menu didn't show what I wanted neither). the fried fish and shrimp balls were good with the sweet dipping sauce. the place was busy full house for the entire hour I was there. most people ordered noodle soups, which is probably what they are famous for but I didn't feel like it today. parking lot is also full with cars.

One of my favorite egg noodle spots in the SGV. I usually go for the seafood egg noodle, but can't go wrong here. Easy for larger groups as other egg noodle spots in the area are much smaller. Lunch on a weekday here can be really busy and loud. My group got seated pretty quickly. The service was a bit slow to get someone to take our order. If you get a noodle soup meal it comes out pretty quickly compared to everything else on the menu. Others in my group got their order about 5 min before I got my food. I've been here a few times and tried the diced filet mignon with black pepper sauce this time. The meat was cooked very well done and some charcoal was stuck to the meat. I've liked this dish at other places but I'm not going to order this again here. It's okay for what it is and I've noticed they're slowly increasing prices since when I first came here a couple years ago. I'd say skip it. I think other places on Valley Blvd are better.

Came here on a Saturday for lunch and got the #1 noodles with soup. Maybe it was an off day, but the soup was rather bland. I grew up eating these noods so I was expecting it to have flavor. The place was also dingy and the seats looked like someone had splattered soup on it from the night before. The service was what was expected from this kind of place, like you are expected to know what to order once you've been seated kind of place, but I didnt come here for the service.

Ok, so I've seen this place for years just driving down San Gabriel but never paid any mind to it. With the rainy day weather we've been having, my boyfriend wanted some kind of broth so we decided to go here. From the outside it looks almost like a store but once you go inside you see all the seating booths and tables available. Parking isn't the most ample but there is plenty. We were greeted by this kind older woman who immediately sat us down and gave us time to look over the menu. I wasn't sure what to order so my boyfriend ordered for us. All I know is I asked to get the thick egg noodles in the broth rather than outside. It didn't take long for us to get our food but even if it did it would be worth the wait!

I like noodles here. Good place for comfort food. It gets busy so go early. Cash only.

I love me some Seafood Noodle Soup!! I always come here with my sister, who lives 10 minutes away. The food is always on point! It's not the fanciest place and on a hot day, it's hot! But the service is friendly and the food is delicious! Cash only so remember to bring your money!

While I've never had an issue with the food, I feel uneasy having left the place after ordering takeout. I knew the prices of what I was ordering and even taking into account tax, it was higher than expected..ok, fine... but then after I was paid and was looking for my change back, instead of giving it back to me, they went and so quickly put it directly in the tip jar. It surprised me and while I understand tips are always appreciated, I just wanted it to be my choice instead of them making that choice for me. Since I can't speak the language to communicate easily with them that I wish they didn't do that, I left but just didn't leave me with a great feeling.

I always order the dry half thin egg noodles half thick rice noodles with fish fillet and chicken. Make sure you add a ton of the spicy sauce and pickled jalapenos to create a balanced dish. Also order the donut and smother it with the spicy sauce. Price: 5/5 Super worth the portion is huge Service: 3/5 Not very good but just raise your hand and eventually they'll come over. Food definitely makes up for it.

I've been here for years whenever I'm in the area. Picked up my taxes today, 2/15/25, & hung out by myself for brunch.

Very satisfying with their signature #1 on the menu seafood flat noodles soup. We also got the beef brisket stew flat noodle soup. The broth is very unique. It has very flavorful beef flavor w a touch of tomato taste however the tomatoes doesn't override the beef flavor like tomatoes soup. The only cons about this restaurant is they close at 4pm and limited parking spaces.

My go to spot when I'm craving hu tieu. I usually get the assorted hu tieu #1 with half flat white noodles and skinny egg noodles. Limes and green pickled peppers is a must. So good!

Great place for getting chu show noodles and reasonable price . Me and my sister come here often to get our fix. The dipping sauce they give and aren't willing to even leave on the table for self serve is cracking!!! They need to bottle that stuff

Little mom and pop shop that's cash only. This place and Kim kee has the same exact noodle soup. Even their establishment name is almost the same. They have wet and dry noodles. Parking is available right outside. Looks like the people that eat here are mostly locals. Service is very good and quick.

Visited: 2025-01 Note: I think they have 2 other locations (based on the name; Rosemead & Westminster) #42 French style fillet mignon with fried rice (bo luc lac) (I think $15.25): tender pieces of fillet mignon but could use a bit more flavor. Fried rice was good. Their chili oil hot sauce that I got from another person in my party's order was really good. Their dipping sauce for the fillet was too sour. I won't seek this out again but it was nice to try. OVERALL: Solid food. I would come back to try some of their other dishes.

This place is a no frills, good food, get in get out establishment that I've been coming to for years. Their #2 seafood special with soup on the side never disappoints. I order the thing egg noodle that they cook with some fried onion/garlic bits to give it a nice aroma and flavor. The soup is clean and the seafood is standard fish balls/fish fillet/shrimp. The sauces they offer and cut up chilis is what really enhances the dish for me. Order up.

Beware Cash Only!!! This is my favorite noodles restaurant in the area. I love the dry (soup separate) Chiu Chow Noodles (with both flat ho fun and egg noodles), plus extra noodles so I can share with my kids. Fried donut is soft and crispy. Iced coffee is great too. Beef with rice is great too. Pork kidney was cooked to perfect medium.

Quality hasn't changed. Maybe quantity has but the quality is solid over the years. Service is always quick. We always get the number 1 and the fried flour sticks with egg . The restaurant is always crowded even the parking lot. But it does have a family vibe to it. You could be sitting next to strangers divided by the condiments and chopsticks/soup spoons.

My family loves Kim Ky Noodle House, and they go it so frequently that they are familiar with all of the staff members. Every time I visit, I make sure to get the French Style Fillet Mignon with Red Rice and a side of soup. Must order this fantastic dish when you go! Parking there is difficult to find due to the small parking lot. Bring cash; this restaurant only accepts it! There are also lottery sales available if you feel lucky.

Giving this place a 4/5 primarily for their youtiao and the rice cakes with eggs. The youtiao is so fresh, crunchy, and hot! I definitely ate this more than the noodles I ordered. I also really liked the rice cake with eggs because it was packed with flavor. I honestly miss eating that. The noodle soups here are pretty much the same as other Teochow places so I'm glad I'm not missing out. This place is cash only so remember to keep some cash on you before dining here!

Definitely old school food here with lots of people dining in. It gets crowded on the weekend. The service was much on point and they work fast. The parking is a bit tight. But there is alot of spaces

We tried this place on recommendation of my uncle. Out of all their locations I feel like this one makes the dishes the best. It's pretty much the same menu. But I fell in love with their beef stew. The portions are generous and even though the bowls look small they are definitely deep. It is a really filling meal. Normally we arent able to finish it and have to bring half of it home with us. Their noodle soup dishes with meat and seafood combo are very popular. My parents love ordering those every time we eat there. I highly recommend this place but beware parking space is limited and there could be a wait for a table. If you have a small party and get seated at a large table you may have to share the space with another party. This restaurant opens early and seems to be busy the entire time during their operation hours. They dont really have a slow period. This is constantly people walking in to eat. This is a telling sign that the food here is worth a try and worth coming back for.
