"While Franklin is a few miles south of Nashville, the town offers plenty of its own opportunities to find intimate live music and incredible food. Among the best is Kimbro’s Pickin’ Parlor, an off-the-beaten-path venue inside a historic home. Accented by its Southern front porch — built for pickin’ instruments, naturally — Kimbro’s has transformed the interior space into a bar, a restaurant serving everything from pizza to burgers, and a venue with live music and jam sessions happening nightly. While you don’t need tickets in advance, Kimbro’s may charge a nominal cover." - Kellie Walton

A Nashville suburb but with all the feeling of being downtown. It was like being invited to a new friends house, everyone knew each other and went out of their way to introduce themselves. The music was incredible, so much fun.

It's always great at Kimbros and last night was no exception with Nicky G and friends. Great band, great company, lively crowd. Ten bucks in Franklin for a show of this caliber with musicians that just knock your socks off is crazy. Go, just go. Go early, they have great food so grab dinner and have an incredible night out you never expected in this tiny little live music venue in Franklin, Tennessee.

Google
Cool place to see some live music. Most of the bands that I've seen here have been pretty good. I've only had a couple of food items but both were great. Two small indoor bars and one small outdoor bar. When you walk in the front door you may find locals picking banjos on the front porch. Once inside, in the back room you may find a patron sitting at the piano being accompanied by other patrons playing bongos, guitar and singing. Definitely a unique experience

Google
This place was hands down the best. A group of us went at the suggestion of our hotel. We got to Kimbro's, you could immediately feel the great energy. It was singer/songwriters night and our group was BLOWN away by the talent coming from this place. We ended up on the porch and had a great time with the talented artists that were playing. This place is a must if you like live music!

Google
Came here Sunday night after dinner, had heard about the great music. Sure enough, when we got in around 7:30 it was pretty empty but the band was going strong.... sat out back to enjoy the evening with a few other customers. It was nice and you can still enjoy the band. Soon, it started to fill up. The place really is a little local dive, that has just aged and gained charm over the years, organically... you couldn't re-create this.... it may not be for everyone, but if you enjoy good music, with a cold beer, in a very casual environment... this is for you.

Hey Photobooth

Google
We got the smoke house chicken ranch pizza 🍕 , the chili, and the hot honey wings. Delicious! Live Music is good! Chill atmosphere, hanging on the patio area. Great find!

Google
They have awesome bands This bar was weird. It was a converted duplex house. It still had individual rooms where you can hang out. One room was a sit down jam room which had a bunch of people playing various acoustic instruments... Guitar, lap steel, cajon, etc. The other end had the main area which was much bigger for the main events. Two bands played.

A huge shoutout to The Legendary Kimbro for providing an amazing experience for my sisters! The music, ambiance, and bartenders were all top-notch, and having a legendary musician perform Derek St Holmes made the night truly unforgettable. Thank you for creating such a special and memorable evening for my sisters Gloria and Gigi. We can't wait to come back again soon!

Yelp
Kimbros is the one-stop-shop for a fun night in Franklin. It has the dingy grit of your favorite dive bar, paired with a certain comforting warmth from its charmingly cluttered decor. For a cover of only $10, you're treated to live music, several nooks to settle into, and three bars to order from. We opted to sit outside, where the patio is adorned with picnic tables which invite lingering conversations & refills. I ordered a gin and tonic from the engaging outdoor bartender, . It was made just how I like it (3 limes, 3 straws) - thanks, Conner! There's a reason Kimbros is considered a Franklin institution, now go & see for yourself !

Yelp
Kimbro's you Rock!! And you are the Best. Billy Wills

Yelp
We were in town visiting out daughter and decided to give Kimbro's a try. The venue is MUCH smaller than we anticipated but the food, drink, service and music were much better than anticipated. The bar staff was very friendly and offered fast service from an impressive beer selection. We ordered food and it was very good too. My wife enjoyed her "J's Burger" and I loved the hot chicken sandwich (forget the name). Kelley Ann Williams was playing when we arrived, and she was very entertaining. We were sorry when she ended because the next band was not near as good in our opinion. The room with the band was tiny, crowded and loud so we opted to sit on the patio out back and that was a great option for us on this beautiful night. We could still hear the band very well! There was a $10/person cover charge the night we visited.

Yelp
This is a little hole in the wall place. We didn't have anything to eat but the mixed drinks were good and the servers were very friendly. Felt like they were the owners. Felt like a place the locals go to.

Jennifer A.

Yelp
Such an amazing night with talented musicians. We had so much fun with both shows. Everyone is so friendly. A Franklin Must!

Bobby H.

Yelp
Great bar food. Smoked chicken is very good on sandwiches and nachos. Above aversge skillet grilled burgers. Service is great. People are so friendly. Music is soooooo good in small town small dive bar.

Vicki J.

Yelp
Awesome neighborhood bar. Great live music, drinks are awesome and good bar food. Excellent burgers We felt right at home here. Super cozy and casual setting in an old neighborhood in historical Franklin.

Ashlee A.

Yelp
I rarely write reviews but have to say Kimbro's is such a cool experience for anyone 21+!! Located just a couple blocks away from downtown Franklin, this is my friends' and I's go to when we want to get out of Nashville for a night. Will forever recommend this bar to locals and also those visiting!

Erica L.

Yelp
I can't remain silent. This bar is amazing but also horrible. It has so much potential. It's the epitome of a dive bar with the best qualities you could ask for. Other than the songwriters who play here occasionally, almost all of the bands who play here are amateurish and really bad. The spontaneous, pop up music is fun - but the booked music is terrible. This place has so much potential and could be the premier music bar of the entire area. Please please please fix the music.

Robb A.

Yelp
Solid, low key spot for live music. Great interaction with bartenders. Nice patio and bar in the back.

Ipo K.

Yelp
Interesting joint with a friendly bartender named (Patrick)? and good food. Good music was playing too.

Walden L.

Yelp
Great place to have a drink and catch some music. A bit smoky, but goes with the vibe. We'll worth the stop.

Patti E.

Yelp
We had a great time, saw a group of talented musicians perform original music, later we wandered into a room where people were just playing their instruments and everyone could sing along. Staff were friendly.

Jay L.

Yelp
Fun place and we enjoyed the generous portions of food. We will be back! Friendly staff too.

Brian H.

Yelp
great place for a drink and to catch some tunes - eat before you go LOL maybe I caught the kitchen on the chef's lunch break.........

David B.

Yelp
If you like music, and watching it happen organically this is the place. Great place to go later in the evening when Franklin closes up. Highly recommend it

Steve G.

Yelp
Great find here in Franklin. This is like getting invited to someone's home and finding out they have great bands playing live every day of the week. Oh, and they have some pretty good taste in beer, oh and they cook a mean burger, and pizza. The crowd and staff will make you feel welcome the minute you walk in. Leave your attitude at the door, you won't need it in here. Lots of rooms to explore, big porch to hang out on and smoke. Music isn't too loud, nice mix and a friendly welcoming audience, too.

Tori B.

Yelp
It's a good time whether you're listening to a band near the bar or in back plucking along with people and making your own music!

Sophia C.

Yelp
Was driving through Nashville some weeks ago with a couple girlfriends to visit our girls at school and found this little place on google. We absolutely loved it. Food was wonderful for a bar, and we loved the live music though we wanted to chat so we moved away to the bar -- BEST DECISION EVER. We had the sweetest girl serving us!! Addie was just wonderful to us the entire night and was much more attentive than what I'm used to in bartenders these days (unfortunately). Definitely will make this bar part of my road trip routine to visit my daughter!

William W.

Yelp
I was passing through and thought I'd find some local flavor. I ended up at Kimbro's, and I'm very glad I did. The atmosphere was eclectic and inviting. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beer was cold and reasonably priced. The food was hot, and while the menu was typical bar food, it was done well and I'd eat there again. And there was live music, the biggest draw for me. If you're in town looking for a fun time, definitely give this place a try.

Ryan V.

Yelp
Don't really get the appeal to this place. 12$ for an Eric Clapton cover band? Not only was there NO seating and they continued to charge for it, the only reason he had for not giving us a refund was that there was 9 musicians there and once they "had it, they had it. Sorry." This is not southern hospitality. It was just weird. The drinks were subpar and it is just a cluster f*** in there. No idea how this place has sustained business. If you're gonna continue to charge 12$ for a cover for people to listen to a average cover band FROM THE OTHER ROOM, well you better at least make it comfortable for those people who paid the same price as those in the "Stage Room" with the seating. This bar is not good. To the owner/manager; Please read this review and learn from it. I love Franklin and reallyyyyy hope you guys progress. Cause I do not recommend anyone coming to this bar. Very strange and much better options out there.

Debbie L.

Yelp
Great venues and nice outdoor patio! 1st time there...will for sure come listen to some great music!

Ashley P.

Yelp
I am a sucker for a good juke joint. Kimbro's os just that. Small, friendly, live and they have a couple of bars serving liquor. It is a small place but there is seating and some standing room available. We came in a little late so I'm not sure if there is a kitchen available. I can see myself returning here. I would probably check the website to see what type of band is going to be playing. The band playing the night we attended was playing some classic rock and was rather good!

Parker V.

Yelp
Amazing music, amazing service, amazing atmosphere. Couldn't ask for a better spot to hang out for the night in Franklin.

herb a.

Yelp
Kimbro's absolutely rules, if you like: good beer selection, funky old houses, great live music of the Americana/classic Country/blues/R&B variety, eclectic decor, very friendly bartenders and very friendly patrons of the bars you hang out in. If you truly enjoy all these things, you will absolutely love Kimbro's. If you don't, don't go...I don't want to run into you there and hear ya complainin'!

Lily L.

Yelp
I stopped by Kimbro's for a quick look around, so unfortunately my review won't be a comprehensive as others, but hopefully helpful to others who may be curious to poke their head in! I was pressed for time after dinner with a friend, but that friend reassured that we'd be totally welcome to just look around. We walked through all the different nooks in the Parlor, which were each so unique. I couldn't believe there were places to just hang out and engage with music. There was a jam room for people to, well, jam, and a room where you could play games and just have a quiet moment. The main room with the stage was the biggest of them all and had enough chairs/space to fill about 40. There's also great outdoor spaces. In the front, there were benches, while there were tables in the back. I could totally see this place being a local hangout. The staff seem to be really chill and kind as well - we asked who was playing but when we told them we couldn't stay, they invited us to still walk around. Would love to come back and see some live music.

Hillis K.

Yelp
Love! Great music and food! Get away from the crowds and enjoy this small town nugget of fun!

Bj C.

Yelp
If you're in the mood for some great company, incredible music, and small town feel, don't pass this place up! I'm in Franklin about 4-6 times per year aNd never miss a Tuesday night here.

Dina D.

Yelp
Kimbro's is a small local music bar with lots of personality and a limited menu. They have a jam room filled with guitars, drums, and a piano, as well as a statue of a creepy chimpanzee head and various knicknacks. Anyone can go in there and get their groove on. There are other alcoves scattered around, and overall it's a great and intimate place to go alone or with friends. There is live music in the music room every night, and when we went we lucked into an amazing set by The Young Fables (track them down and see a show...you won't be disappointed). The sound was spot on, not too loud, not too bass-y. It really allowed the music to shine. If you're in the mood for a great, intimate set of music, it would be hard to go wrong with Kimbro's. It's on our regular rotation now whenever we visit Franklin.

Yelp
5 stars for being a cool spot with fun people but 2 stars for the food and 1 star for service. When I walked it in was about 10 minutes before anyone that worked there acknowledged me.(other than 2 regulars that already had drinks I was the only customer there. Everyone else were workers catching up on what they all did and saw on new years eve) I had regulars chatting me up and knowing my life story before I was ever able to get a drink. Around 630 645 we put in an order for chicken "tenders" and fries. Around 710 the bartender told us there were no fries (even though they just posted this special about 45 minutes ago) so what other side did we want. We picked mac and cheese. 10 minutes later she said the kitchen said our food would be out in a minute. About 25-30 minutes after that it finally came out. The tenders were more the size of nuggets. They were pan fried, not fried in a fryer like you would expect, which would be fine except they were so over cooked and dried out they were hard to get down. Im pretty sure the mac and cheese is Kraft mac and cheese. So it was good. They didn't ask or offer any dipping sauce for the chicken, which wouldn't have helped much but it would have been nice. I'm assuming what happened was the bartender forgot to put in our order and when she heard my husband ask me 30 minutes after I ordered if I was sure I ordered she hurry and ran back to tell the kitchen what happened. Just a theory, because it shouldn't have taken so long for chicken tenders and mac and cheese. She could have told us. I've worked in food forever so know that it happens. Anyway we waited for over an hour for Kraft mac and cheese and 3 dried out pan fried chicken nuggets. I guess people aren't really going here for the food.

Yelp
Disclaimer #1: This visit was based on a GroupON deal that was expiring within a week. Disclaimer #2: My review is mainly concerned with the "food" part of this establishment. The music venue appears to have great sound and seating area. The wife and I decided to drop in after Saturday evening mass nearby for a bite to eat before heading home. Upon entry, we were immediately stopped and asked to pay a $5 cover for music that we didn't necessarily want to hear. The bartender/doorguy/whoever it was told us that we had to sit in the bar (where there was two tables, one of which had about 20 coats on top of it) or the dining room (which had about 3 tables the ladies' rest room, kitchen and a pile of stuff). We chose the dining room and was told to order at the 'other bar' that doubled as the check-in/check-out/register, etc. With no menu on the tables and no menu on the wall, we were perplexed as to "what to order". When I approached the counter and asked for a menu, I was given two brochure type menus with a very limited list of options. My wife chose the Chicken Nachos and I chose the flatbread pizza. Ooopss..."we don't do flatbread pizzas anymore...". Ok, so i take a moment and decide on the tacos. Ooooppss..."we don't do tacos anymore either...as well as spinach..." and some other stuff. So, I settled on a 'homemade sausage pizza'. While waiting for our order, we were amazed at the lack of music emitting from the main room (where it was packed full). Evidently the $5 cover charge allowed you to listen to live music but didn't guarantee that anyone would be performing. Not sure if there was a no-show or equipment problem but, seriously, we only heard two or three songs while we waited for our food. Speaking of the "waiting for our food"...after 60 minutes, we finally asked if we were going to get our nachos and pizza which was answered with a "we were really hit hard tonight and the kitchen is really backed up". This was after the young lady came out of the kitchen, made contact with us and said (loudly enough that we could hear her)..."SHIT!" and turned back into the kitchen. My guess is that our order was lost. After a few more minutes, I caught the young guy who was going back and forth and asked him if we could just get our order to go (if we were going to get it within a few minutes) because we had been out all day running and were just tired and hungry. Thankfully, the order did come and we took it home. The nachos were not that great and the pizza was literally covered with ground sausage crumbles (or maybe ground beef?). It wasn't bad but a bit salty. Nothing i would go back for again... As for a bar and music venue, it probably is a good place to see live music, especially if you get there early enough to get seating. The interior is really (REALLY) run down. I guess that is the motif or style they are trying to present. Didn't bother me as I've been in plenty of dive bars but the wife was less than impressed. The bar has great beer options...not sure about cocktails. As for thinking it's a food establishment, I would not recommend it at all and i believe the GROUPON deal which explicitly did not include alcohol is misleading. So, if you're looking for food, go elsewhere...if you're looking for live music, give it a try.

Nick B.

Yelp
This could have easily been a 5 star review because this place is really cool, very welcoming and filled with fun friendly and talented people but because of the terrible service and lackluster food it was just an average to below average kind of place. It took about an hour and a half for our chicken tenders and mac and cheese to come out. When we ordered it wasnt very busy. We know for sure the bartender forgot to put our order in but she never told us that. We just saw the panic in her eyes when she looked over at us and then ran to the kitchen. She told us our food would be right out. It came out 45 minutes after she said that. The chicken tenders were hand bread, pan fried and were not tenders at all. We had 3 dried out nuggets and Kraft mac and cheese for dinner and it took forever! It was bad. No apologies from anyone about it though. People are here for the music and environment, not the food. So dont order any!

Mark B.

Yelp
Great Singer songwriter evening at Kimbro's. The sign up sheet was 19 deep , 5 minutes into launch and the artists delivered. Variety, passion, and an audience that truly appreciated the genre and artist's commitment. Another fabulous evening orchestrated by Kimbro's Will Jordan.

James W.

Yelp
Won't ever go back here. If you aren't a regular or friends with the staff here, you get blatantly treated as an outsider. Disrespectful employees. It is more like they are just hanging out having fun, rather than providing good service. I felt like I was a burden and an unwelcome guest. If you want to be treated well, don't go here. Anywhere else in Franklin is better than this tiny run down house.

David B.

Yelp
I absolutely adore this little place. Good little menu, great food and great eclectic people hang here.

Terry C.

Yelp
I'm here for the first time and while here I received a notification from entertainment.com, which is a coupon book that you pay for, mentioning an offer for buy one get one free entree. The bar tender was not familiar with it so she sent a text to inquire about it but never got a response. I feel that it's pretty bad they paid to have their business in the Entertainment Book but can't train their employees on how to use them. Therefore we were unable to take advantage of the deal that was offered. Overall I am very disappointed in this place.

Blake S.

Yelp
Kim Bros is definitely a local gem. The place is small and has a 'pub' feel which is awesome. Always has live music going, with so many talented singers/songwriters. The bartenders are super friendly and the food looked amazing as well. Don't forget to say hi to their cat, Pickles!

Adam P.

Yelp
We showed up on a very slow day. We were the only customers. Mama (the cook) ended up making fried chicken and collard greens for dinner. The meal took over 3 hours to come out...lol but it was fantastic! Unreal! Probably the best food I've had. The atmosphere here is awesome and the bartender was fun. We were visiting from Minnesota and would definitely go back to Nashville just to visit this place. It is a must if you're in the area!

Patrick M.

Yelp
Eat before you get there. Trust me on that one. Beer was warm. All of it. Brian James and the Revival were awesome. 5 stars for music. 1 star for food and beer. 4 stars for ambience = 3 star average.

Blandina V.

Yelp
Terrible! Didn't even want to click one star. Brought out of town guest to listen to local music. Paid $12 at the door then we walked in and realized we couldn't even get pass the door, the place was packed and no where to sit. The guy collecting cover knew it too and began to tell us "at least you can listen from here" we said for $12? We're going to listen from the door for $12. He said yeah but it's 9 performers . Why did you charge us knowing its this crowded? We would like our money back and the response was I'm sorry I can't. Really? Great customer service. Thank goodness we went to Grays. Which we should of done in the first place. They had a way better venue, great live music, better drinks and here's the bonus NO Cover. We would of rather paid them the cover.

Catherine R.

Yelp
I used to be a regular at this establishment, not for the music, because often it wasn't that great even though a $10 cover charge was required. (Cash only or you're charged double to use a card), but for the friends I made there. The owner/manager is a ruthless and arrogant person who regularly gets drunk behind the bar and often twists around singing rap music. He has been known to be excessively rude to customers and allows his cook to solicit money from customers claiming that she is underpaid. Apparently he's been unsuccessful at keeping steady employees due to his mismanagement and drunken episodes. Bathrooms are dirty, the place is run down and apparently the owner, who is probably making a killing with this establishment (because of its great location) couldn't care less about customer service. It's a sad shame. I do not recommend this place for newcomers

Masi W.

Yelp
What a fun girlfriend night. AfteR Christmas it was hard to find anything open, alive, and fun! Kimbro's hit the spot! We had a blast - watched some football - listened to fantastic music, and had some great drinks

Michael D.

Yelp
Smooth jams...cold brews...relaxed, untaxed, that's the facts. Food is tastey...you'll find locals, song writers a cozy neighborhood vibe...if you're a tourist you'll be disappointed, if you're a local, you'll be at home. The smoked pulled chicken and biscuits with white gravy will soak up anything you drink. A few drafts on tap...more in bottles, a house white and red...you come here for the music man and don't you forget it!

Rhonda E.

Yelp
Came in late at night looking for some vegan options of which there were not very many but I still have to give them a great review because they bent over backwards to accommodate me. Very friendly and trying really hard plus the vibe is pretty awesome.

Mitchell K.

Yelp
If you're looking for a spot in Franklin to experience live music and an authentic atmosphere this is the place. They get a wide variety of acts from country and blues to Celtic and rock. They have a modest, yet good selection of beer on tap and many bottles, plus wine. During the evening they serve a selection of burgers and sandwiches along with salads and rather filling apps. They've recently started serving lunch again and that's a good thing. It's a cozy place that offers a very intimate setting for watching musical acts.

Aleta M.

Yelp
Had the greatest Bleu Burger and Spinach. Wow and the Green Man Porter. Aaron or Erin bartender is a people person.

Colin A.

Yelp
Just a cool music joint with friendly staff and good craft beer in the awesome suburb of Franklin.

Josh M.

Yelp
I loved this place. It was my first time there and we liked it. There are several seating areas... we sat in a smaller room with a TV and games to play. We played clue while we waited for our food. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because the egg was slightly undercooked and it was a little on the expensive side fir the amount of food. We will be going back, the menu is French inspired and we LOVE French food. Overall a great experience!

Kim K.

Yelp
Went to Kimbros last night for the first time. Saw Liv Noelle and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a Thursday night. We got there at 6:45 for a 7-9pm show and had no problem getting a table. Had a good selection of beer. Both had a hamburger that was okay. Bun was cold and it didn't come with anything, but we didn't go there for the food. The sound in the room was good and not overly loud. After the show was over we sat on the front porch while waiting for uber and listened to some very good "pickers". Look forward to many more nights of music at Kimbros
