The Best Things Infatuation Seattle Writers Ate In May - Seattle - The Infatuation

"There aren’t many things that can steal our attention from a sizzling grill stacked with marinated meats, but the kimchi pancake at this Eastlake Korean BBQ spot is one of them. Hefty triangles arrive pre-sliced, loaded with chunky onions and big hunks of roughly chopped kimchi. The edges are salty and eat like potato chips, while the center stays soft and tangy from all that zippy kimchi action. Technically it’s an appetizer, but throw in a couple of orders and we’d be happy calling it a full meal." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente, aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente, aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, aimee rizzo, gabe guarente, aimee rizzo, gabe guarente, aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley

Amazing food! Very affordable. You get more than enough to eat. Eric is funny, sarcastic and kind. He was very good at helping me with what I wanted. I'll definitely be going there again.

We enjoyed delivery yesterday and were too greedy eating to take a pic, but this is the spicy pork we had leftover and it's wonderful!! We loved the shrimp shumai, kimchi dumpling, gogi kimbap and kimmari. Tomorrow we'll have jajang myeon but dipped a taste and it's also lovely. Thanks for your brilliant food, it's in the "self care" rotation going forward.

This is the best Korean restaurant for quality and value in the entire Metro Detroit area. I would suggest ordering an order of Bulgogi and an order of Mandu Guk to feed a family of 4.

I went here with a buddy of mine after being recommended to try this restaurant by some of my Korean friends I graduated with. I must say this is one of the best Korean restaurants I’ve been to in Michigan. The portion sizes reminded me of being back in Korea and the prices were super reasonable. We ordered a lot of food and the server(maybe owner) joked around a lot with us. He has kind of a dark humor. I personally enjoy that kind of humor but I can see how that could rub people the wrong way. While we couldn’t finish everything we ordered in one sitting we took it home and finished the remainder maybe like 30 minutes after leaving. To be honest if I could eat here every day I would. Definitely will be going back to try some other dishes. Oh, one small thing that would have been nice would have been to have some music or a movie playing. But that’s just something random I personally would have enjoyed. Overall, we had a great experience. Can’t wait to go again!

Me and my best friend came here and this place was absolutely amazing. Our amazing server Eric was amazing and so kind and had great conversations with us and a great sense of humor. The food was absolutely amazing and it was one of the best meals i’ve ever had not to mention the astonishingly low cost.

Google
The food is fantastic! The vibes are great! There is a male server that is straight amazing and am always happy to see them when I visit. Love their comments throughout the visit. Only improvement would be a confirmed gluten free menu so my friend can fully enjoy this place.

Google
Decent food and hearty spot for a Korean family meal. Portions were not too large but overall tasted very rich and well-made. The soy fried chicken was too sweet and the batter was not as crunchy as we would have liked. Still a great choice for the price of food. I've read the other reviews, and safe to say the waiter's cynical remarks was not as well taken. When asked for a recommendation, he bluntly refused by invoking personal virtue. Rather dispiriting for guests.

Google
Tofu pad Thai didn’t have taste. It was bland.

Yelp
Everything at this restaurant was amazing. I came here with my best friend for dinner and ordered the military stew. Our server Eric was so funny and kind and the food was some of the best Ive ever had. This place is definitely being added in my rotation for its service food and cozy vibes.

Yelp
Generous portion sizes and excellent service! There is a wide variety of Korean food options. Comes with a variety of banchan side dishes as well. The mul nang myeon (iced noodles) and Ddeok Man du guk (dumplings with rice cake) came in twice the amount of portions as Ann Arbor area restaurants. The food came out super quick!

Yelp
This is an authentic little spot in canton that you do not want to pass up on visiting! We had the best waiter that was very knowledgeable about the menu. He gave great recommendations and kept our entire 13 guests party entertained! The food is great the kids ordered the military hotpot for four and had a bunch leftover! Make sure you grab a drink and enjoy the vibes!

Yelp
If you're looking to be treated poorly, then go ahead and buy food from his place. The person who answered the phone clearly has no idea what it means to respect customers.

Yelp
This is the most unfriendly restaurant I've ever been to The boss doesn't seem to be welcoming at all. terrible.

Yelp
Great service, funny and friendly. So many menu choices it was difficult where to start because it all sounds good. It was our first visit to this restaurant and again, another discovery in our own backyard. So glad we came here! We shared the Kimchi pancake- YUM! I had the Bibimbap on the stone bowl and then my friends had the bulgobi bbq and short rib bbq. The restaurant isn't set up to do your own bbq at the table but it was still DELICIOUS! We saw some people do hotpot at the table so we'll try that next time. I appreciate so much that we can have so many really great food in Canton with so many options. This mom and pop place is a hit! Come in large groups, come with a date. It's fun for all!

Yelp
Korean food is amazing. With that being said, Korean food at a restaurant is usually a tough thing to have and taste authentic, sometimes. This place, serves the most amazing Korean dishes that leave me wanting MORE! Their Korean fried chicken is the stuff that dreams are made of. Just enough spiciness, sweetness and tanginess to have you weak in the knees. Their bulgogi is delicious and seasoned just right. The bimbimbap in a stone bowl comes out piping hot and creates the crunchy crust of rice at the bottom. The restaurant itself is in a modest strip mall close to IKEA. Not fancy but WOW the food! Our server has seen us twice already and both times greeted us like we were some friends of his visiting from college. Very familiar and comfortable. The kimchi is amazing, as one would hope, as that is the namesake of the restaurant. Go there and try them out today!

Yelp
Kimmari - little fried glass noodles with a sweet and sour sauce. They were fine. Nothing wrong with them. Maybe just not my jam. Doek bokki - gochujang forward, with rice dumplings and glass noodles , very interesting, there were also triangles of fish cakes of some sort. Once you've eaten several spoonfuls, it can become quote spicy. The rice dumplings had a chewiness to them. I wish there were some crunchy textures to it as well. Korean fried chicken - nice breading, which would have been crispy and better if we ate at the restaurant. The peanuts added nice nuttiness. Requested the hot sauce instead of the sweet sauce, but it was still quite sweet. Bulgogi soup- the vegetables in this dish were onions and spring onions, the bulgogi was exactly what you would think of when you think of bulgogi. The beef is a fatty meat, and I thought the broth ate a bit greasy. It reminded me of French onion soup. When eaten with the kimchi and pickled vegetables, it really helped balance it out. They were necessary. Tldr - as expected korean food. I would go back and try ordering differently

Yelp
Was in the area and not really familiar with the places here but wanted to try something new. This was closeby so decided to try it though i usually like a place to have more reviews. So glad we did. Small restaurant but I saw things on the menu I'd never heard of. So I'm wondering if this is more authentic Korean. The waiter was super helpful and made us laugh. We had bibimbap and a dish that had pork sausage & hock. It's not for the faint of heart but I've had it before. It was done well. Bibimbap yes please was with an egg. There was a steady flow of customers many you could tell were repeat. I there's more I want to try. It's been a while since I've seen something different but with enough I've seen before

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I would. My friends and I came here on a Friday night and we were met with THE WORST service we've ever experienced. When we politely asked if we could move the empty and unlit hot pot tray from the shorter side of the table to the longer side, we were told it wasn't allowed due to a "fire department requirement." Confused but calm, we simply asked for clarification. That's when the staff escalated things unnecessarily, accusing us of "making a fuss" and even calling us trespassers. Then, to our shock, they actually called the cops. Yes, you read that right--911 was called, and five starving students were treated like criminals, all for asking a simple question. The police arrived, equally confused as us, and we were left humiliated and stunned by how absurdly this situation spiraled. If this is how they treat their customers, I'd suggest staying far, far away. No meal is worth this level of disrespect, hostility, and utter lack of professionalism. p.s. we never even got to try the food, so we can't tell you if it was worth the drama. Based on this experience, though, we're guessing it wasn't.

Yelp
"Imagine me and you, I do. I think about you day and night. It's only right to think about the [food] you love." There were a lot of things to look at on the menu, but I was hungry. I wanted to read, but I wanted to eat. I wanted to be adventurous, but I wanted food now. So feeling like a basic bench, I ordered the chicken katsu because it was something I knew and usually enjoyed while my +1 ordered the bulgogi. I was a little disappointed in myself for not ordering something more specifically Korean, but whatever. I was ready to eat. After my first bite into the chicken katsu, The Turtle's "So Happy Together" was playing on repeat in my head. (I might also be listening to it on repeat as I write this review.) It might have been the best chicken katsu I'd ever had in my life. The chicken was perfectly moist. The breading wasn't heavy; it just added that perfect crunch. The kimchi pancake? Not too spicy but lots of flavor. The bulgogi? Knocked it out of the park. Honestly, I'm so angry at myself for never having gone to this place sooner. You bet your bottom dollar, I'll be back sometime again soon. In the meantime, I'll be dreaming of that chicken katsu... "I can't see me loving nobody but you for all my life."

Yelp
The food was delicious! I had Beef Bulgogi and my husband had Bulgogi soup. Both had very good flavor. I do wish my beef bulgogi came with carrots and broccoli. The sticky rice was the best I ever had. I did try the side dishes, but it just wasn't for me. The service was very fast. There really wasn't an ambiance, however the food we had was excellent. The waiter/owner, had a really great sense of humor. When we paid our bill he said "See ya tomorrow".

Yelp
This is a true staple for us- we love coming here. It is a family-run restaurant and you can feel how much love they pour into their food. Our favorites are the champong, japchae, seafood soon du bu, spicy rice cakes, and the dolsot bibimbap. You won't regret coming here!

Yelp
Delicious place and hidden gem in Canton. Fast service too given we were a large group. I'm not big on how a place looks. It's comfortable seating and not too loud. I enjoyed celebrating my birthday here! Can't wait to return!

Yelp
Extremely rude waiters with sarcastic attitude. Food was ok, but absolutely not coming back again

Yelp
Came in on a Wednesday night & it was pretty busy. I ordered the bulgogi, & it came with a side of rice. They gave us korean appetizers before our entree arrived, and they were pretty good. The bulgogi doesn't really taste like the bulgogi i would get at a kbbq restaurant. I probably wouldn't get it again. It wasn't bad but it just wasn't the best I've had! We also had ordered calamari for appetizer. First off, it was really bland, even tho the seasoning came on the side. Second, the batter was weird.

Ranu U.

Yelp
We were there for our first time as a family four. Very rude and unprofessional staff. The waiter was sarcastic, rude and talked with an attitude. Answered all our questions with a "no we ran out of that". We left without eating there and will never ever return. Worst service ever (actually worst start to a service since we were there for may be 5 minutes) I will give them a "0"

Yun F.

Yelp
I ordered the kimchi jjigae and I have to say that it's the best I've had in Michigan! It's perfectly sour and not sweet compared to other restaurants in the area. The jjigae was comparable to my grandma's and the staff were great too. Our waiter was funny and kind. If I lived closer, I'd go here weekly
google avatar

Yelp
Came here with a few coworkers. The hospitality is nice & welcoming! I ordered the spicy fried chicken as well at the japchae food was amazing! Will be back

Yelp
Let me start by saying the food was delicious as usual. But every time we go we have this butthole of a waiter that has smart remarks and for some reason anything you ask him for he cannot do it for you. If you ask him can you have a dish made spicy, he says no you can't but the dishes are made to order. He even went so far as to tell us that this is not a Thai restaurant. He said they did not even have crushed red pepper flakes to give us from the back because they went bad in the storm when they didn't have power. That is the stupidest thing I ever heard. Then when my daughter says she likes her food spicy he kept making Off the Wall comments that she can't handle it spicy and that the hot sauce they do havr is too hot for her and he couldn't accommodate us. This is the third time we've had the same waiter who has this a****** Behavior as if you don't know what you're talking about or you don't know what you want. Everything we ask him he says no we can't, no we don't do that. Last time my granddaughter asked him about sushi he said this is not a Japanese restaurant this is a Korean restaurant. This is the last time I will patronize this restaurant. What about the customer is always right and making them happy. There's no reason why you cannot make someone's food spicy when you sell spicy dishes. I asked if u can get a half order of the Korean fried chicken appetizer. He stated that they are PKG in groups of 8, what would they do with the other 4 from the PKG? Huh? I will not spend my money in an establishment where we have a wise cracker or someone is condescending as him that waits on tables. He should not be allowed to work with the public at all. If he is a family member he should be made to work in the back and not deal with the customers. I know they must have received lots of complaints about him. This is my last visit.

Yelp
Delicious food and the service is also entertaining (my nephews laughed at our server's jokes). I think this is a family run restaurant and we enjoying eating here. They have a lot of different dishes you might not find at other restaurants and the prices are about the same (if not a little less) than similar restaurants and the flavor is definitely there. Yum! Can't wait to go back and ps, you can bring your own Tupperware for any leftovers (help save the planet!)

Franklin T.

Yelp
Super friendly staff, great food and great prices. A gentleman working there ran out after us when we forgot our carry out container. Will definitely make a habit of stopping here whenever I'm in the area.

Yelp
Located in a small strip mall that was once a Thai restaurant on busy M-153 (Ford Road) in Canton, Kimchi offers a full menu selection of outstanding Korean cuisine to choose from. If you like variety, this place has it. Likewise, they do have a small selection of Japanese dishes you can also enjoy. Kimchi, is a family owned restaurant that really cares about it's customers. They will prepare any entrée on their menu just the way you like it. If you prefer your food more mild or even spicy, they will create it that way. One thing that is different here at this restaurant, is they prefer to use Jasmine rice, rather than the traditional sticky, and sweet Korean short-grain variety found in most other restaurants. However, this is not a problem for me, as I like all kinds of rice. I have tried their Chicken Yakisoba, which is outstanding, as it's loaded with flavor. Likewise, their Beef Bibimbap, Bulgogi, and BBQ Chicken are all first-rate. I really want to try some of their other seafood entrées in the future. So if you're looking for a place to try to some very good Korean and even Japanese food, this is the place to visit in Canton.

Yelp
terrible TERRIBLE service. walked in not even 15 minutes ago, without a reservation because it was our first time checking the place out. the waiter asks us if we have a reservation, we say no, and he scoffs at us telling us a reservation is always required. we apologized. he walked us to a table anyways. we had some questions about the alcohol on the menu. as my mother is asking about the plum wine, he immediately mentions it out of stock. i ask about the soju and he told us "i am not serving you any alcohol because you came here without a reservation". my family and i try to laugh it off, but he was dead serious. we ask him if he's serious and he just nods. asks us if we need a few more minutes with the menu. we were shocked, so we said yes. i convinced my parents and brother to walk out of the restaurant. if the staff doesn't care about hospitality, they can figure it out themselves that we left. it would be one thing if he just turned us away from the restaurant for not having a reservation. we were prepared to leave! but being rude to us and still offering us mediocre service is a bit ridiculous. won't be giving this business any money now or in the future.

Yelp
Service seemed to come with attitude. No suggestions on what to order. No help at all. Asked if it came with banchan and after a blank stare he simply said yes. We sat there waiting for food with nothing on the table. It did come out with the food. He sure didn't offer refills and I was not going to ask anymore. Food was not bad. Quantities were OK but food was a little pricey. Champong was the extra large size on special for $20. Had a real crab cluster which looked nice but hardly any meat in it. Offered no tools to help get the meat out. Nice shrimp with the heads on. Probably not enough here to get us to come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Mediocre k-food. Extremely unprofessional and unfriendly staffs. Ordered kalbi, jjajangmyn and two dolsots. They came with few side dishes including a small plate of kimchi.(we never asked for refill for any side dishes while we were there) After we finished eating, I asked a waiter for a box. He replied "What for?" (His exact words!) I told him it was for leftover kimchi. He said we can't take kimchi home, we have to finish them at the table. Stunned and confused, I asked him why. The waiter said since they sell kimchi separately, they don't let their customers take kimchi home, which made no sense since kimchi came with our main dishes.(and no refill asked!) So I asked him what happened if we don't finish kimchi at the table. He said he would throw them away. (instead of paying customer taking them home!) what a great business mind Kimchi has! But that's not the reason why I will never return. The foods were not that good and that is why. The only yummy thing at Kimchi was goddamn kimchi.

Yelp
Great service, and amazing food. Best bibimbap around! It was charming and very authentic.
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
This place is located in a strip mall and is very non-descriptive from the outside. The atmosphere inside is plain although I don't come here for the charm, I come here for good food. We had the Bibimbap with beef, Spicy pork, and the Den Jang soup. My wife said that the Bibimbap was spot on. The spicy pork is very flavorful and made with their own special blend of spices. The Den Jang soup was very good. I like it better than Soon Do Bo. My only critique is for the owner/waiter. Sir, take a little more time with your customers. Show patience with their questions. I am still learning this cuisine. You speak too fast sometimes and it is hard to understand you. You need to come to the tables and see if your customers need anything. Other than this critique of the service, I look forward to coming back. Even though we didn't get the JapChae today, I highly recommend it.

This is our go to place for Korean food! We love the bowls! Tasty food and quick service!

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday night around 8 p.m. or so. It wasn't packed but there were a good amount of people in the restaurant. My eating companion and I opted for the Korean BBQ: bulgogi and galbi. We also had ban chan to accompany our entrees. It also came with steamed rice. My favorite thing by far was the bulgogi. That was definitely the stand out dish of the night. I actually didn't care too much for the galbi but my eating companion liked it. The service was good. Our waiter was attentive and made good suggestions. It has a diner-type feel. I would come back and just get an order of the bulgogi. It was so tender and flavorful. Try it out for yourself and see if you don't become a fan.

Yelp
Kimchi Fried rice and shrimp fried rice tastes very good. Also seafood pan cake is great

Yelp
My mom and I have been thinking about trying this place for a while. Loved the vibe and the wall art when we walked in, reminded me very much of being in Korea. All the food tasted fresh including the banchan. Our favorite was the dumpling soup. We would come back just for that! They have a solid bibimbap (chicken was much more tender than it looked). The kimchi pancake didn't taste like it had much kimchi in it, more like a green onion pancake but it came with a great sauce. All the dishes were tasty overall so we would visit again! The older woman keeps it short and is very quick with her service. The server, Eric, helps to lighten the atmosphere and is very welcoming.
google avatar

Feng Q.

Yelp
Their service attitude makes the whole thing very uncomfortable from ordering to checkout. The child dropped the chopsticks he was using to eat on the floor. We asked him to get a new one several times but he never gave it to us. After waiting for a long time, the chopsticks were given to us and they were charged $1. This is the first time I have encountered a restaurant in the United States that charges a fee if a customer drops the tableware on the floor and asks the waiter to get a clean tableware. Won't go there again.

Nele F.

Yelp
Consistently excellent food as well as friendly and quick service. Portion sizes are large enough to share

Yelp
The food was good. Ive been to Korea and enjoyed the bulgogi I got. However i don't think i will ever go back because the server guy is extremely rude and condescending. Its sad to see the reviews on here and he acts this way. Just asking about the menu he will give petty remarks to you like you are stupid. Wont check on your table, Acting like he hates his job and you are a pain to him that you came.. Food business isn't easy i know that first hand. But i was shocked to see him act in such a way. In Korea this would not happen. Its unfortunate because its a nice place but I will not be treated that way to get food I can probably find somewhere else. I wish I was able to give a better review.

Elisa R.

Yelp
WOOO. I will definitely be coming back here again soon. Came with my boyfriend and we ordered a Kimchi pancake as an appetizer, and a seafood hotpot for main meal to share. It was soo much food. I don't think we were prepared for that amount of food. The Kimchi pancake was delicious. Soft. Chewy texture. Absolutely delicious. All the flavors were spectacular, I was very happy. The seafood hotpot did not disappoint. There was a large variety of seafood in it, and the soup had a great flavor. They bring out a small grill like stove top to keep your soup nice and warm! I can see myself trying their other options of hotpot! I'm excited to come back again!

Yelp
One day while going through Yelp, I noticed Kimchi in Canton. Looks like they took over Thai Bistro and from what I have heard, the chef that works at Kimchi used to work in Macheko Grill in Ypsilanti. The menu layout at Kimchi and Macheko Grill is the same, the only exception - Macheko Grill has table top grills, Kimchi does not, so all the BBQ is done in the back for you and brought to your table. So I had an opportunity to stop by for lunch with a friend. We walked in and got seated, got our menu and the lady brought us hot teas. We reviewed the menu and ordered the following: - Spicy Rice Cake - Jjajangmyun - Chompong with extra seafood - LA Kalbi with soontofu combo So here we go. Banchans - they serve banchans in small dishes and looks like it's rotated often, on our visit, we got Napa Kimchi, Radish Kimchi (Sliced), Zucchini, broccoli, blank beans and yellow radish seasoned in chili. The banchans were ok, standard Midwest (Michigan) banchans, nothing special. The only refill we asked was for more Kimchi. Spicy Rice Cake - it tasted the same as what Macheko Grill offered, but looks like they added the glass noodles. Jjajangmyun - it tasted different here then back at Macheko Grill, not something that I would order again. In addition, the noodle was very chewy, as it was under cooked. If you like Jjajangmyun - go to Panda in Ann Arbor, on Packard Road - they have the best jjajangmyun in A2 area. Chompong - I couldn't tell if they added additional seafood (since they charge extra) or not, but I have to say, this was the best food we had during our late lunch. The broth was excellent, the noodle was cooked very well. I ended up adding more rice to the soup so I could finish the entire bowl. LA Kalbi with Soontofu combo - The meat was bit on the tough side, had lot of fat on the meats - especially those on the end. They needed to marinate the meat bit longer. Overall, I'm glad there is a Korean restaurant in Canton. You'll have to go and try it for yourself and be the judge of their offering and the taste, but as a Korean, it's decent, on par with what many Korean restaurants offer in Michigan. As for service, I agree with others, it has to be improved! They only had two servers, the lady while there, was sitting by the table near the kitchen with arms crossed - you can definitely tell she was in charge. I got her attention to ask for water and she looked bit upset that I bothered her. It's a bit out of my way to go often since I live on the west side of Ann Arbor and I can get most of their offering in Ann Arbor or make it at home. If you live near and want to try Korean food, stop by and give them a try.

Yelp
My first time here and I enjoyed my meal. I asked my server for help in understanding a few things, as did four people at a nearby table. Don't let your lack of Korean food stop you from enjoying a meal here. And DO ask for non-spicy options. Where to start? AMBIENCE Nothing fancy but nice and clean. You'll notice screens covering the front windows and door. This is because Korean dining/eating is seen as a private matter, so they have screens to keep the outsiders from looking in MENU Check out their facebook page for the actual menu. They've posted the entire menu there. You have tons of options with captions describing what each dish is, including many photos. Appetizers. Noodles. Korean soups. Bibimba & Katsu. Hot Pots. Korean BBQ. Stir fry. I want to go back and sample more options! I had the shredded beef cooked with vegetables in broth. Tasty! Note #1. I ordered the edamame and when the server brought it to the table he also brought six little dishes of accompaniments. (See my photos). He explained they are enjoyed with the main meal and can be eaten any way you like. A bite here, a bite there, a bite with rice, a bite with your main dish, etc. Some are spicy, like the actual kimchi. It's really tasty, not to mention good for you with all that natural fermentation going on. The six little dishes are collectively called "banchan." Note #2: There was a table of 4 near me and they asked a lot of questions about the menu and the spiciness. Lots of things are spicy but it you ask your server about less spicy options s/he will help you find something that's a better fit. Note #3: One of the ladies at the table near me was a vegetarian and the server said they would figure something out for her, and they did, but that their menu isn't necessarily vegetarian because of ingredients used in many dishes. But good for them they helped her find a nice option. Not sure what it was because as I passed the table on the way out it was almost all gone! SERVICE No issues. My server explained several things to me and came back quickly to check if everything was ok. Nom nom nom. :) I walked in right in the middle of dinner time and the place was packed. I scanned the tables on the way to being seated and wished I could have sampled all of the dishes. Guess I'll have to go back for more! Give it a try. AND REMEMBER!! Tell your server if you don't want spicy food and they'll work with you as they did the table next to me. I don't mind spicy but even the regular items and banchan definitely had some heat!

This has been my go to Korean restaurant but I was not satisfied with this last order. We had placed an order for Korean spicy chicken on the website menu. This is the menu order picture of fried chicken. But the second picture is what we actually got. I was not happy as I called the restaurant to point this out. They said they aren't responsible for the menu picture that Door Dash put on the menu. And they didn't even offer to exchange to make it right. This is three big thumbs down from me on this. You always take care of your customers, Kimchi did not do that this time!

Yelp
Great service Great food. Beef bulgogi and the kimchi are my favorites. Food is always fresh.

Yelp
Since my mother passed I've been looking for home style Korean food like hers. This is the closest to moms I can get near me. I order the Kimchi soup and Yukaejang soup. To my delight very flavorful and hot and hot the spicy notes just right. You know it is good when your nose starts running from the hot soups. I also like the side dishes that came along with it. The kimchi was so tasty. I also ordered the steamed egg, kimchi pancakes and tteokbokki. I loved the kimchi pancakes but did not care for the tteokbokki. Not everyone's tteokbukki is the same. I definitely will be back when I crave some Korean food. A great Korean spot for me and my family.

Yelp
I really enjoy this Korean restaurant in MI. The seafood pancake is the dish I will order every time. Give it a try when you are in neighborhood.

Yelp
I visited Kimchi yesterday for Mother's Day with my mother and two sisters. When we arrived we were asked if we had made a reservation, which we had not. Our host widened his eyes a bit, as if exasperated. He seated us and offered us menus. We asked for hot tea and ordered the gyoza, agedashi tofu, number 14 (I forget what it was), and miso soup for us four. The gyoza and miso soup were perfectly fine, although I've had far better at Wasabi in midtown Detroit. The agedashi tofu was awful, with the tofu being super bland and the fried batter around them being gelatinous and peeling off of the tofu. See the picture I've added! The worst disappointment was that the tea tasted...and there's honestly no other way for me to describe this...like burnt popcorn! My mother and I got the tofu and chicken dolsot bibimbabs, respectively, which came in a hot stone bowl. I ordered this specifically because it was my go-to when I lived in Detroit and went to Wasabi consistently and wanted to compare the dishes. One of my sisters ordered the bimbimbab while the other got a chicken Korean BBQ. My mother and I both enjoyed our hot bibimbabs with soy sauce and the spicy sauce. I liked the fried egg on top of mine. However, it was not packing a punch for flavor in either of our dishes. My sister who ordered the tofu bibimbab was shocked to find that her dish was COLD! We expected that it didn't come in a hot stone bowl but didn't realize it'd be cold! My other sister enjoyed her Korean BBQ and I appreciated the spread of small delicacies that they arranged for us to eat with our entrees. The customer service was mostly fine but when my mom asked for a fork after realizing she simply couldn't eat her rice dish with chopsticks, our host huffed and said, "I asked in the beginning if any of you needed forks" but promptly got one for her. They were nice in explaining the different meals and suggesting how we should eat it--although if you don't want to be told how a culture actually eats a particular dish you may feel like you're being criticized. I was fine with it. When it came to getting boxes and wrapping up and paying the bill though, we were left waiting for 20 minutes before we decided to go to the counter and ask to leave because no server was passing by us at all! We were really shocked to find that the bill came out to be $97 for the four of us! Usually, I get a meal for 2 at Wasabi in Detroit for $25-30 with tip and was staggered that the meal was so expensive despite the lack of quality. Overall, the 2 stars and "Meh, I've had better" label Yelp offers is spot on!

Yelp
At the recommendation of an acquaintance we went to this quaint little restaurant and we were not disappointed in the least! My husband and I got two appetizers, edamame and gyoza dumplings, and then beef Bolgogi (a signature Korean BBQ dish) the whole things was fabulous! The appetizers were fresh (still steaming) when we got them, and the edamame, from what I could tell, was fresh and hadn't been frozen for who knows how long. We were served very promptly and our waiter was very attentive to us. The interior is very simple and clean. It's nothing extravagant, but still very pleasing to the eye and has excellent natural lighting! Lastly, the pricing was VERY reasonable and we had no qualms with the amount of our bill. My husband and I agree that for the service and quality of food that we got, the pricing was spot on.

Yelp
So the bibimbap is ok. I have had better but I do appreciate the way they package it for take out. Had the udon and it was ok. Not my favorite. My husband and son usually like what they get but I am just not as wowed by it. They are friendly and fast. They are always out of something I try to order when I call. I guess that means it's fresh?

Yelp
Strong supporter of local establishments but unfortunately experience here was subpar due to manager's poor attitude and tone. Needs customer service training. No need to put up with that for mediocre food. Many other Korean restaurant options out there.

Yelp
I've been coming here for almost a year. Their food are high quality and authentic, like the one that I tasted in South Korea. Friendly staff and food comes out quick. My favorite Korean restaurant

Yelp
Korean food is something I really don't eat alot of. But when I do decide to go for it, I'm very happy with my decision. There isn't a lack of Korean food in the surrounding area, but there aren't many that are a reasonable distance to us. From the few Korean places I have visited, there hasn't been too many things that distinguished one from the other with the exception of a built in grill at the table, but that isn't always available. Kimchi isn't one of those places with a grill to cook your selected meats, but I promise you it shouldn't deter you from coming here. The food is excellent, reasonably priced, and will leave you full/satisfied. It's never too busy when I come so I enjoy the atmosphere, and the family who own it are warm and friendly. If you've never had Korean food start with bbq beef options or fried chicken as those are easily the most accessible items on the menu. They have hibachi and yakisoba for the less adventurous, but those aren'tt Korean of course.
