The 21 Best Hotels in New Orleans

"The former Staybridge Suites building has been transformed into a dynamic boutique space by the MARKZEFF design studio. The flamboyance of the lobby and dining/bar space is countered by the assured minimalism of the bedrooms. Clean lines, bright whites, and black wrought iron fittings make for a sleek, modern aesthetic. Soft pinks and purples provide some pop, but it’s the cane beds and tamboured armoires that hint at a detailed approach to comfort. The hotel’s crown jewel, though, is the elaborately decadent Peacock Room. With actual stuffed peacocks overlooking the tables, it’s a statement dining room. Booths and open tables, as well as bar seating, deliver an exclusive-feeling lounge atmosphere, aided by the small stage in the corner that features acoustic sets from local jazz musicians." - Paul Oswell

The Best Hotels to Book in New Orleans for Mardi Gras - AFAR

"Situated at the corner of Tchoupitoulas and Poydras Streets and a five-minute walk from the French Quarter, this 235-room spot sits directly on major parade routes and hosts ticketed rooftop-terrace events during the biggest Mardi Gras parades (Morpheus, Endymion, Bacchus, and Orpheus). The outdoor terrace above King Brasserie and Bar stages food-and-drink gatherings with swag bags of beads, and the hotel programs seasonal happenings like a Carnival Sip & Shop featuring local vendors (including Lab & Lounge manicures and hair tinsel). Its Peacock Room cocktail bar pours an Instagram-ready “Patron Saint” (Patrón tequila, Nonino Amaro, kumquat, and honeydew in purple, yellow, and green stripes), while pastry chef Lanna Talley offers inventive takes on king cakes at King Brasserie and Gospel Coffee." - Lyndsey Matthews

Kimpton Hotel Fontenot

"Why book? This brand 2021 opening adds a bold, colorful hotel to the Central Business District (CBD). A plum location, a stand-out dining room and Kimpton’s standard quirky amenities all add up to an exciting new place to stay. Set the scene:Located on the corner of Poydras and Tchoupitoulas streets, the hotel is within easy walking distance of the French Quarter, the Mississippi River and all of the city’s downtown attractions. A new arrival, the hotel is already creating a buzz and the opening has attracted the city’s scenesters to check out the much-vaunted Peacock Room. For now, the crowd skews young and curious—the early adopters of the New Orleans hotel scene. The backstory:Kimpton has been absent as a brand in the city for some 16 years, when the failure of the federal levees caused their last hotel to close. This, then, is something of a triumphant return, and the former Staybridge Suites building has been transformed into a dynamic boutique space by the MARKZEFF design studio. A more historic neighboring building will eventually provide more accommodation space but for now, it’s a building that has shed its skin and emerged a beautiful butterfly (or, to be more accurate, a beautiful peacock). The rooms:The flamboyance of the lobby and dining/bar space is countered by the assured minimalism of the bedrooms. Clean lines, bright whites and black wrought iron fittings make for a sleek, modern aesthetic. Soft pinks and purples provide some pop, but it’s the cane beds and tamboured armoires that hint at a detailed approach to comfort. Dark grey chaise lounges lurk stylishly at the end of the beds, which are decked out in high-end Frette linens. Colorful, curated contemporary art provides a welcome modicum of the sense of place, and the amenities include bluetooth speakers, yoga mats and Atelier Bloem bath products. Food and drink:The hotel’s crown jewel is the elaborately decadent Peacock Room. Bedecked in jewel tones of metallic blue and purple, and with actual stuffed peacocks overlooking the tables, it’s a statement dining room. Booths and open tables, as well as bar seating, deliver an exclusive-feeling lounge atmosphere, aided by the small stage in the corner that features acoustic sets from local jazz musicians. The menu is small but focused, with inventive local delicacies such as duck and oyster gumbo and blue crab pimento cheese. It’s already a buzzing scene as the curious arrive to sip cocktails and luxuriate in the regal surroundings. Gospel Coffee and Boozy Treats provides a more casual, cafe-like spot just off the front lobby. In 2023, the hotel opened its second restaurant, Kings Brasserie, serving elevated European and Louisianan cuisine. The neighborhood:This end of the CBD is close to Harrah’s Casino and the attractions along the Mississippi River, including the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. A quick walk into the CBD itself will bring visitors to the art galleries of Julia Street and the World War II Museum, with the nightlife of the French Quarter also on the doorstep. The service:The staff are full of the enthusiasm and seem incredibly well trained and friendly. Kimpton’s brand values of approachable professionalism really shine through, and their standard pet-friendly policies are all in place. The daily hosted evening social hour is a great chance to meet some of them. Accessibility:The hotel is fully accessible and has 5 specialized ADA-approved guest rooms. Anything left to mention? The hotel has come out swinging with events and one of the best-looking dining rooms in town, and the guest rooms back up the quality that’s evident in the public spaces. A fitness room featuring Pelton bikes is also a great addition." - Paul Oswell

I stayed at this hotel for four nights for my family reunion. The staff was great the entire time. The hotel property is beautiful and host multiple different restaurants and bars. Some of them very elaborately decorated and just great to have a cocktail without even leaving the building. The rooms were nicely appointed and very roomy. Location was safe and close to a lot of different things. I would definitely stay here again.

Google
The hotel was beautiful and modern and had a welcoming environment. I would like to consider myself a frequent traveler and I can honestly say that the staff at the Fontenot offered, by far, the best customer service experience. Ray and Sharon were awesome at checkin and answered my many questions and provided great recommendations. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of great places to eat and visit. The breakfast was great and the dinner was pretty good as well. I was thoroughly impressed with all the staff I encountered. I also have to mention that the hotel was extremely clean!

Very nice hotel in a great part of the city. Close enough to the action, but far enough so it wasn't too noisy most of the time. Service staff was nice, it was clean, and the rooms were lovely. The entire atmosphere of the hotel is very cool, an old school bluesy feel. There is a decent restaurant attached, as well as a charming bar just past the lobby. There is also a wonderful little cafe with a nice variety of coffee drinks and a few food items. Overall a great place to stay in walking distance of most of New Orleans' great tourist favorites.

I really enjoyed my stay here. I stayed during the June 19th weekend. The hotel is in a great location close to many things by walking or Uber. Emma at the front desk was absolutely amazing and so helpful. She answered any and all of my questions, she helped with my requests, and she was so personable! Housekeeping staff was also amazing. The celebration package with champagne was a nice addition. I babysat throughout my stay. The hotel was quiet enough for his nap times and social enough when we wanted to walk around. The Peacock room was always full and in use while open. My sister loved the Gospel Coffee and they got a lot of business from both guests and those walking by. The in hotel restaurant was also good and the discounted meal for 1 night came in handy. I would absolutely stay here again if I come back to New Orleans.

Google
Very friendly staff and great amenities in this hotel. The one downside for light sleepers is half of the rooms are exposed to Poydras St which is a main artery in New Orleans and particularly on Friday and Saturday nights, there are tons of vehicles driving without mufflers. If you are a light sleeper, it can be hard to sleep and if you're on a lower floor, the exhaust fans on top of Mother's Restaurant can be heard too. Definitely request a quieter room if this is an issue although sometimes with quieter rooms facing the small street, garbage trucks do their noisy work at 6 am. Staff are extremely friendly and willing to help including changing my hotel room. Free water in the lobby, free coffee in the mornings in the lobby (better than any coffee i paid for during my trip!) And every day between 5 and 6 pm, they do free wine with snacks. Very nice! Rooms are very clean and come with all of the amenities you need. There are nice, chilled eucalyptus towels to freshen up with in the gym! Location is central so most places are a medium walk away, including a Rouses grocery store. Note there is a daily resort fee and don't forget that you get streetcar passes and a free tour at Seven Three distillery as part of this. I would not hesitate to stay here again but only if assured I would get a room on the quieter side.

Google
Great room but part of the reason we booked was for the $60 room credit. Unfortunately they pulled the "our system is down" excuse several times when we tried to take advantage. Beds were comfortable. AC was great. Certain amenities were average (shampoo & conditioner supplied, no iron, no coffee maker) athough they did bring us a coffee maker on request. The King restaurant was very average. The Peacock room was great. Maybe you can stay at a different hotel and just visit the Peacock room.

Everything about this hotel is spectacular!!! I would stay here over and over again. From booking the hotel to checking out, the hospitality was impeccable. I had emailed regarding some questions I had for my stay and they were so quick to respond and were very helpful. The service is probably the best thing about staying here, there are also so many perks like streetcar passes, free wine and snacks, free coffee, and there are also some amazing dining options on the property. The rooms were also awesome. Super clean, spacious, filled with toiletries, and wonderfully decorated. The location is also perfect. It is not too close to all the craziness, but also a short walk to everything you need. I truly had such a great time here and will be back.

Currently staying at this hotel. I am very disappointed in my room. Upon arriving in my room after checkin. I noticed the condition of the room was not how it should be. I called down to the front desk and spoke to a gentleman and advised him of the nasty stains on the bench and asked could he swap it out or remove it out of my room. He stated he would send someone up to remove it however 24 hours later the bench is still in my room. As I attempted to take a shower, I noticed the condition of the wall and shower floor. As you can see in the pics attached, It’s disgusting. The carpet needs to be cleaned as there are several dirty spots all around the room. I’ve stayed at other Kimpton properties which was top Notch. The one is New Orleans is no where near the standard for the brand. I will not make this mistake again. The lobby and food nearby was pleasant.

Yelp
Of all the kids in the IHG family, Kimpton is my favorite. The customer service is always top shelf. Each one has carefully curated art that reflects the local area. And there is nothing like sinking into a Kimpton bed after a long day of exploring a new city. One of the things I appreciated the most about this stay was the fact they honored my 11-month old reservation and the price it was booked at instead of cancelling and forcing me elsewhere or charging hundreds above market during the Eras Tour weekend. The Fontenot thoughtfully added events catering to the Swiftie population. (Kitten yoga! Brunch with a glitter station and beads to make more friendship bracelets!) It's a short walk to the French Quarter, which means it's also much more quiet. If you're in town for a "regular" weekend in NOLA, you can't go wrong at the Fontenot.

Yelp
Staying at Hotel Fontenot was a pleasure. The location is perfectly positioned between the French Quarter and the warehouse district. This provides ample dining choices either in the French Quarter, the Warehouse District or down Magazine Street into the Garden District. The on premises Peacock Room was also a fine choice. However, what made my stay exceptional was the service by all the employees, but most importantly Mr. Ray. This man is a treasure and should be protected at all costs and rewarded handsomely. My daily interactions with him were something I looked forward to. He provided perfect recommendations, made sure travel accommodations were handled and spoke with such care that it was hard to leave. He was even nice enough to share his personal preferences for the best meatballs in all of New Orleans, which isn't something a lot of people associate with the City. For nothing more than the chance to interact with Mr. Ray again I would stay at the Hotel Fontenot and recommend it for others.

Yelp
IHG diamond elite and kimptons always take wonderful care of us. Upgraded to the Beche Suite. What an amazing space. Top floor in the historic pert of the building. Checkin was spectacular by Vendula. She was so welcoming. A nice bottle of chilled champagne was waiting for us. From start to finish we just loved this property. Close to many attractions. All the staff were superb. Bed was comfy. The curtains in the room however were not the best in controlling light coming, a sleep mask fixes that. Highly recommend! The restaurants on the property were fantastic as well!

Yelp
Just finished a wonderful 6-night (staggered) stay in December '24 Booked: King Premium, Diamond upgrade: 1BR King Suite Spa (#1206) Suite tour/walkthrough - https://www.hotelfontenot.com/new-orleans-accommodations/hotel-suites/ Welcome drinks: beer/water, coloring material for DS "Chalet All Day" seasonal "secret" social password: $40 prop CR (x2), Danish butter cookies (tin) Suite came with an empty minibar/fridge (requested), microwave (requested), + assortment of snacks - cookies, rice crispy treat, etc. (service!) Coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar, 7-10am Social (wine) hour, 5-6pm Diamond Elite free breakfast/brunch (for 2) vouchers Weekday: King (7am-1pm) Weekend: King (7am-1pm) or Peacock Room (*preferred*, 9am-3pm) I tried the following for breakfast/brunch/dinner King: King Breakfast $19, Quiche Lorraine $13, Farm Egg Frittata $15, Croque Madame $18, King Burger $22, Crawfish Beignets 4/$8, Prime Baseball Steak $22 (kids menu) Peacock: **Shrimp & Grits $25**, Banana Bread French Toast $15 All the above dishes were quite good; however..... **Shrimp & Grits** = FANTASTIC!!! (must try!!!) Central location = extremely convenient. EZ access to Street Car(s), Central Business District, Warehouse District, French Quarter, Riverwalk, WWII Museum, etc. Gym (L2) is good (enough), 24/7, filtered water, cold towels, etc. Free postcard station (including postage) is a nice touch! **The bedside table power/charging stations have an extremely annoying green light above the (3) USB ports, making it extremely challenging to fall asleep. An engineer can put black tape over it (upon request). HUGE shout out to GM Jesseca Malecki for the gracious upgrade, as well as Leslie for her wonderful service/conversations at King Brasserie + Peacock Room! Can't forget Aaliyah, TaTyana, Raye, Jerna at the front desk! Thank you for the wonderful experience and gracious hospitality!

Yelp
Most of what I wrote in the original review stands and has been consistent with each stay we've had here since, but our most recent stay was wonderful as well so I figured I'd share here that there has not been one time we have been even close to disappointed during our several stays here. During our most recent visit, we had the pleasure of being checked in by Raye, and she was awesome. Yet again, our room, the service, the food, the drinks, and everything in between was incredible. I was hoping they always did a cocktail during their evening reception like they have in stays before, but they were only doing wine this go around. Nothing to cry about, but it was a nice touch. Also, they opened the King Brasserie & Bar, and it's a nice complement to the Peacock Room. Once again, you won't go wrong here.

Yelp
This is my third time staying at the Kimpton Fontenot. It's my go to hotel when I visit NOLA. The vibe is a mix of modern and classic New Orleans. The staff are over-the-top friendly and I haven't had a bad room yet. The evening social hour is easy flowing and relaxed. Wine is typically paired with snacks. Sometimes they have offered a pre-made cocktail.

Yelp
Boutique hotels are always nice as they offer an alternative to the status quo. Came here to celebrate a bride and groom post nuptials. Service was pretty groovy. While we hit a couple of snags at check-in (user error, not the hotels fault), the stay was smooth after that. Staff were knowledgeable. The rooms were modern, stylish, and clean. Lobby smelled nice. Sadly, we did not get a river facing view, but that is an option for some. Luckily, it was not at max capacity, so it was easy to navigate. Pro's: -complementary beer or wine upon arrival - complementary coffee hour 10a - complementary wine hour 5p -walkabe to other areas of the city - beautiful bar lounge Cons -the overnight valet is $50. -almost no street parking

Yelp
We had a phenomenal stay at the Kimpton Hotel this weekend. The staff is absolutely delightful, the coffee spot inside the hotel has beautiful service and yummy snacks. They have a proper bar in the lobby as well that was amazing! Our puppy was allowed to come with us and they sorted his food and water bowl along with doggy bags and treats. Alex and Emma at the front desk were exceptional and we are very thankful for our lovely experience.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our recent stay at Kimpton Hotel in NOLA. The building is super modern and the decor was minimal yet functional. The staff was super friendly and the location was super convenient. It was about 15min leisurely walk to the French Quarter which I personally preferred because it was much less crowded and cleaner. Every main attraction was either walking distance or a short drive away. We had meal vouchers from Costco Travel so we ate at the breakfast restaurant of the hotel daily and the food was really good. And everyone we encountered from the hotel were extremely kind and helpful. I would highly recommend staying at Kimpton in NOLA.

Jennie N.

Yelp
We found this hotel through AMEX hotel collection so I can attend a nursing conference in NOLA. what an amazing experience! My husband and I loved everything about it. The room was B-E-A-OOTIFUL! We were upgraded to a suite because of AMEX and the hotel suprised us with wine, cheese, fruit & prosciutto plate with a nice card greeting us. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The restaurants in the hotel were so good with the best personal customer service. Look for my reviews on King Brassiere & Peacock Room! Room service provided even a flat iron & phone charger! My husband and I had the best anniversary so far. Very memorable and a place to come back to! Thank you Hotel Fontenot!

Yelp
The reviews online were true. Great hotel all around, centrally located, clean and staff very friendly. Rooms pretty spacious. Daily free drinks from 5-6pm of various wines was also a nice touch. Checked in super early so they held my bags while I got breakfast about an hour later I got a text saying my room was ready. Def will be my go to for New Orleans going forward and I've been telling everyone to stay there since.

Yelp
Great location service hospitality at New Orleans expectations.. for sure and that's a compliment. Warm welcomes smells great and clean. Decor and vibe is an A. Quick check in, everyone works harmoniously together ensuring an experience. We had two rooms one reg one suite. Clean and comfortable. Great shampoo conditioner and soaps. Lotions to. I'd give another half star if I could. Quality place and stay

Alicia W.

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful decor and nice rooms with comfortable beds. Staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast, it was delicious. I'd stay here again.

Yelp
This makes me super sad to post this, but this hotel has gotten too big too quickly, and the service of earlier years has diminished. We have been coming here for four years and loved the Peacock bar and it's super high end craft cocktails. Night one, a rude hostess would not let us in, citing it was too busy. We pointed out there were open seats at the bar. She replied, "the people sitting there are in the rest room." The seats were open for the next half hour. We asked if we could order a drink and take it to our room, or the adjacent new restaurant. "Absolutely not," she admonished. A manager did come to our rescue, thank you Jessica!) Night two, the hotel was so busy there were no managers to find. A private party closed the Peacock, and no other bar in the hotel could make the cocktails of the Peacock, and our waitress told us it was impossible to get Peacock cocktails sent over to our dining table in the new restaurant. We spent close to $2,000 at this hotel over 3 days and had to fight the entire visit to get the cocktails we had come to anticipate at our vacation go-to hotel. With hotels like The Virgin and Perle coming soon, this hotel has been crossed off our list. I hope they can turn things around, because it once was amazing.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our recent stay at Kimpton Fontenot. My husband have make it a point to travel somewhere new on our birthdays and NOLA has been on my list to visit for so long so happy we made it happen this year. We stayed in the spa suite. I absolutely loved the deep tub. We had a great time. Room was very spacious. The hotel is located in close proximity to the Riverwalk Outlets, Canal St, and the newly updated Ceasar's Casino. Also, Mother's is located right across the street ( which is where we got our meals from time to time) There are great options located on the lower floor, peacock room, king brasserie and gospel coffee and bossy treats. Staff was very kind and always checked in with how our stay was going.

Yelp
Just got married in New Orleans and stayed at the Fontenot in their Presidential Suite for the couple days after. We also used one of their private rooms for a brunch for our guests the day after the wedding. From the day we looked at the hotel months ago, to check in to check out - Dixie and her team made sure us and our families were extremely taken care of. My husband and I felt so special. If we needed anything along the way we were taken care of. Also, the staff members who helped out with our beignet brunch were so hospitable and kind and made all of us feel right at home. The hotel is also beautifully decorated, clean, and they take their Covid protocols seriously, but in a good way. I will be staying here ANY time I'm back in Nola. Thanks all!!

Yelp
Excellent Excellent customer service. Each and every person we came in contact with was friendly, helpful and informative. They didn't steer us wrong once on directions, suggestions and helpful tourists info. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Hospitality and Housekeeping were on point. We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff recognized our anniversary. They were very personable. This was my first visit, but it definitely won't be my last. I have NO desire to try any other Hotels or facilities.
google avatar

Yelp
Sorry no pics, but I really did like this hotel. The only knock would probably be the breakfast options. I wasn't super impressed with any of there options and I the full experience. They also randomly have a yoga mat in your room, which I thought was pretty cool. Not to mention they had some of the best snacks in the mini bar: snickers, haibro gummy bears, j. Lohr wine, kettle chips, etc

Marko T.

Yelp
It is 12:45am, and there is still a loud party going on in the room next door. I've already notified front desk at 12am about it. I arrived to Kimpton Hotel to be able to sleep, for a conference tomorrow morning.
google avatar

Chef Will G.

Yelp
Stayed here for the Procore Conference. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, shuttles were available for the conference. They give you choice of complementary beer or water when you check in. Rooms very nice. The negatives: the white towels have a slight gray color, maybe they need better bleach and no pool.
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
I am a Diamond elite member in their "club" and I've stayed in Holiday Inn express properties that are better. The room is like a nuns cell with no decoration what so ever. It's bland and cheap. The headboard is coming apart, the water pressure is so low you can barely take a shower. This is in a suite. $500 fir two nights of this? Also, my reservation included breakfast, but they don't tell you your breakfast is in a cardboard box and was inedible. The attitude is terrible. There are too many options in New Orleans to stay in this dump. Skip it !

Yelp
I am a Kimpton junkie, and it is my mission to one day stay at every Kimpton. Girl has to dream, right? So, when we planned a New Orleans vacation, it was a no-brainer where to stay. And after the treatment we received at the Fontenot, it will continue to be a no-brainer. Fontenot hits on every aspect, and I left with hearts in my eyes. Full disclosure here.. I am an Inner Circle member, so Kimpton always goes a little above and beyond. But I feel like the Fontenot staff goes even further. First, our upgrade was extravagant. We had the Presidential Suite on the 18th floor. It was glamorous beyond words. We had two doors, two bathrooms, and I wanted to just move in there and never leave. For our welcome gift, they brought some boozy treats, but my husband mentioned we were vegan and couldn't take them. So, they somehow managed to get a full vegan cheese plate in its place. It was such an astonishing above-and-beyond moment that we almost sent that back in error! Our stay was just so luxurious and comfortable. The air conditioning was cold, the bed was comfortable, the water pressure was good, and we had more than we could ever need from a hotel. The staff was top notch, awesome people, and they made us feel welcomed and appreciated. The only tiny downside was that the adjoining guest room was NOISY, but that was no big deal - we had a suite with a door in the middle, so we could close ourselves off and shut out their noise. We did not have any food there, but I did get a drink at the Peacock Lounge, which is beautiful and worth a visit, even just to appreciate the decor. I really have nothing bad to say about the Fontenot - clean, well-designed, good location, friendly staff. Win win and win!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, great location, nice suite, with most lousiest house keeping service I have ever seen. I would have given 5 stars if not for the worst experience ever with their in room house keeping service. The hotel offers house keeping, but if you think it's is going to be done - keep dreaming. We stayed in the hotel for 5 overnights and it got worst by the day after our first night. After Day 1: Clean room, friendly housekeeper. Day 2: Housekeeping leaves 1/2 of the dirty towels, half of the pillows on the floor, dirty shower. Day 3: Dirty shower, only received half of clean towels. Day 4: Housekeeping doesn't care at all anymore. Empties the trash in the living room. Done. We complained several times to the concierge. The day concierge promised that the room would be cleaned, well it was not. The evening concierge was pretty much useless as well. He offered us a $10 coupon gift card for the bar/ restaurant. Seriously? No thanks. All we wanted was a clean room after a day out exploring the city. He promised us that our room would be cleaned properly and kept saying: " I put it in" Whatever that meant in his world. On our last night, after complaining again since not even the bed was made, he said that there is nothing he could do, we would have to speak with the manager in the morning. This is unacceptable for a hotel that charges around $500 per night. We are totally disappointed and will not return.

Yelp
Stayed here several nights for a wedding in the area and overall enjoyed the stay. The room is very comfortable and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I had an issue with the thermostat/furnace in my room not working and they sent someone up to fix it right away. Amenities in the room are nicer than your typical hotel, which makes sense given that this the is "boutique-y" Kimpton brand. Only drawback is that this is a pet-friendly hotel, which does give you the chance to see lots of cute dogs, but also subjects you to their barking if they are into that. Some earplugs took care of that issue. Valet was also pricey per night, but I think that comes with the territory of staying in-town. Great location in the heart of NOLA, easy walking distance to lots of attractions plus two restaurants/bars inside the lobby (Peacock Room and Gospel).

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, felt like home. Will definitely go back again. Love the historic building, the gym is very luxurious. Across the street from mothers restaurant. Wasn't noisy at night. They offer valet parking in a private parking garage down the street, not attached to the building. It's not an open lot either like I was worried it might be. Sometimes they seemed slightly understaffed but no big issues.

Yelp
This place was not fresh. The room has a very stall Oder. I tried spraying Lysol and the Oder got worst. The towels were very dingy some had pubic hair on them. This was so gross. When turning on the hot water there was a very loud noice in the walls I thought the pipes were going to burst. Never will I stay here again The carpet needs to be clean AsAp. I advise you to not stay here. Kimpton please do better or close down ASAP! Also there was only one working elevator!

Yelp
If you can stay at this hotel, you should! I have nothing but great things to say about this place. We were immediately welcomed with friendly faces. Gave us recommendations for the area as we checked in. Went up to our room which was super clean and cozy. The room was also well decorated - great style! We had to ask the front desk for a few items and they were super helpful. The hotel was just designed so well - the art and decor is unique and beautiful. They have free coffee in the lobby and it was good! They also have the coffee shop if you need something more. Convenient location to walk anywhere - the water, the casino, bourbon street, restaurants, the mall, etc.

Yelp
On the surface, the Kimpton looks enticing; however, things aren't always what they seem. Pros: the staff is really nice and the beds comfortable Cons: the rooms are pretty small, paper thin walls and in need of maintenance. No amenities typically expected such as a pool, in room coffee, iron, or even drawers to put your clothes, as they were removed for the mini bar food and fridge, leaving you no option but to hang all clothes or leave in suitcase during your stay. However, due to the size of the rooms, you'll be constantly tripping over your suitcase. We paid additional for the breakfast option but later learned it's deceiving. It's a daily credit of $32 at the hotel restaurant which pretty much covers breakfast for one. Any additional will come out of pocket. In the end I realized it was simply a ploy to not only charge more for the room, but also to draw you into the restaurant to pay for uncovered overpriced breakfast. It's also a dog friendly hotel with no size restrictions. There are dogs in the restaurant, even sitting on the hotel furniture. Bizarre. One more thing, returned to hotel after long day in the Quarter to find our room door had been left open by housekeeping. There are certify better options in this area for the price.

Yelp
We were hesitant to bring kids with us to New Orleans, for obvious reasons. We didn't take them down bourbon street so don't wig out ;) but I am so glad we brought them. When we pulled up and found out the valet was 49 dollars, we were a little taken aback, however, it was worth every bit of it. The gentlemen were friendly and prompt, even when it was just one. They opened the doors, greeted us with smiles and made us feel welcome! Ray was awesome and he gave great directions. Now, the front desk. The staff were the most amazing, helpful, sweetest people I have ever met! Raye was so awesome, she made the kids feel so welcomed, she got them sweet treats and remembered to save them coloring books when they arrived. She was so helpful and so sweet. That girl deserves a raise and then some. The bar and social space was the peacock room, it was beautiful! And the bar staff was so helpful, Adam was sweet to our 7 year old, he served her a fancy water, with an umbrella and little orchid, she loved it. Adam and Ohio (I'm sorry I don't remember his name, but he was memorable) had great conversation and were prompt and professional! Overall, I'll be back again. The rooms were clean and comfortable! Robes were amazing, pillows and bedding was the best, I would have bought it all if I had won money from Harrah's. 10 out of 10, y'all need to come here, and I hope you love it as much as we did!

Yelp
Love the Fontenot. The rooms are lovely, not huge, but lovely, the cafe in the lobby has the nicest staff and delicious coffee, the bar is gorgeous and has a great vibe and the gym is awesome with cool eucalyptus towels to cool you off when your done.

Yelp
The Kimpton Hotel requires a deposit of $100 per night for incidentals. The deposit will end up being more than the total of your stay. Save your money. PROS - Bed is comfy -Room was clean -Bicycles available -Service was great CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM - Need way better lighting in the bathroom and the room itself if there's only 1 window on 1 side of the room. ?? (Basic Room) - Water pressure is too low and the water does not get hot or cold enough. What's up with that? Wasn't a pleasant showering experience. - Decor was blah Overall, mediocre experience for a 4 star hotel.

Yelp
I absolutely loved my stay! I stayed 4 nights from April 12-16 2022! From the time we walked in until we checked out the staff was nothing but accommodating!!! We checked in so much earlier than anticipated and they did not give us a hard time AT ALL! One lady up front was beyond kind and so sweet I want to say her name was Lisa? But I'm not sure she was spectacular! She checked us in and gave us the run down! Dixie also texted me and followed up with anything we needed! The room was clean and very roomy - we had 2 queen beds! I Don't know if it's just a New Orleans thing but everyone was soooo kind !! The hospitality is unreal. I would definitely stay here again! The peacock room is really cute as well - I had brunch there it was alright but it's still a very cute lounge area and the drinks are made with extra love LOL Very local to everything we walked everywhere! Maybe 5 blocks from bourbon street! Great restaurants everywhere and a casino down the street! I really loved the stay so much- I wish I had pictures of the hotel room!

Yelp
Fantastic hotel and a great location. Upon check in they offered us free drinks and provided recommendations for dinner and breakfast. The rooms are very large, clean and well designed. After arriving in our rooms they even sent a text asking if everything was okay in our room and asked if we needed anything! Fantastic service! Before heading out for drinks and dinner we stopped at the Peacock Room next to the lobby. Wow! It is a beautiful bar with lots of seating options. Plus the drinks were very good. It's definitely worth stopping at the bar even if you aren't staying at the hotel. I've been to New Orleans many times and this is the best hotel I've stayed at so far. Only downside is that breakfast options are limited, mostly coffee and muffins but there are plenty of options near the hotel. Thank you Machiel for outstanding service during our short stay there.

Yelp
The staff was more than just welcoming when I arrived, it was like coming home. Friendly and accommodating, this property exceeded my expectations in every way. A great view, wonderful room, a terrific coffee shop and very nice restaurant all came together for a more than just enjoyable stay. The property is located within walking distance to many must see attractions. I know where I will be staying on future trips! A huge thank you to Machiel and Ray for their exemplary customer service!

Yelp
Kimpton always goes above and beyond. Our spa corner suite had great views and was a beautiful loft-feel space. Hotel is new and clean with all the amenities! Peacock Room was great on a Thursday night with live music. Enjoyed my first Sazarac!

Yelp
We stayed here for my cousins wedding the first week of January. The hotel staff from doorman to front desk to staff in the Peacock Room were all beyond wonderful. Our room was spacious and clean. The drinks at the Peacock Room were great. And the hotel is in a great location to be able to walk to the French Quarter, restaurants and WWII Museum. We can't to come back to New Orleans and without question we will be coming back to the Hotel Fontenot.

Yelp
I've stayed at Best Westerns that were nicer. Over priced. Can't touch anything in the room or your charged for it. Valet was very rude. Made us double park in the street when leaving. No way to get the cart over the curb without dumping it to get to the car. Curbside was reserved for people coming in. To hell for when you leave. WILL never stay here again and DO NOT recommend.

Yelp
This is a centrally located, beautifully decorated, well appointed hotel with amazing staff. Ray is the guy to ask for directions and recommendations on places to eat. He is friendly and knows all the hot spots in the area. Rooms are well appointed and if you forget something just ask. Hotel elevators come quick, there's a super cute wall great for photos in the lobby and the Peacock Room is so fancy. We loved having the ability to walk to area attractions. This is a great hotel that I'd definitely stay in again and recommend to all my friends.

Yelp
Had a great time in New Orleans and stayed at the Kimpton hotel. The peacock room had great food and strong drinks. I had an old fashioned and my wife had Hellcat Mary. We stayed 5 nights and every morning we were greeted by the valet "Ray", he always had a smile and was happy to help with anything. After talking to Ray in the morning I knew the day was going to be good. He had great advice where to go, where to eat, and what was going on in the city. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
From the reservation to the goodbyes, everything was impeccable. Raye reached out as soon as I reserved to ask for my Rocket's name and see if he needed anything special. I was toast then. Upon arrival, they offer you a beer or water. Well it is New Orleans folks, we took the beers. Turned out to be a local brew Paradise that my husband, who guzzled them both, has added onto approved beer list. Our view was lovely and the room was charming. They had a bottle of wine and macarons waiting. All of the staff from valet to bar were so accommodating. Vinson I'm the Peacock Room really crowned our evening. The drinks are lovely and innovating. We had planned to have dinner there but the only negative was the food. The bacon wrapped dates were cooked uneven thus making them cloyingly sweet. My hubby had tried the Fried oyster appetizer and he didn't care for the coating. I loved the veg relish under them. But with the food just being okay, we decided to not order more food and headed outside for dinner. I absolutely loved our stay and cannot recommend it enough. We come to NOLA about every six months and this will be our only hotel in the future.

Yelp
First, the doorman Ray was a standout. He was accommodating, welcoming and a pleasure to talk to each time grabbing the car. He made us feel right at home. Second, the bar/restaurant was amazing; art deco vibe was so great. Food was fantastic and bartenders were super friendly. We hung out here a few nights and there was live music. The rooms need some updating/detailing but may have been because we had a dog; not sure if they put us in a dog specific room but there are definitely more elevated Kimpton's. This seems like it's a flagship so If may make a helpful recommendation, it is probably time to detail/update the rooms. They were fine but I have high standards when staying at a Kimpton. Overall, in a good part of town and I'd definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Was good, could be better. I booked through a third party vendor which apparently is a crime level infraction at this place. There are so many contingencies and explanations as to why I'm currently sitting with no final folio (not one provided at checkout nor one emailed to me) and over $900 in incidental fees ($450 posted to my account & $450 still pending). I booked a package that included breakfast for two. Typically at properties that means you get a basic level credit added to your folio at on property restaurants. When I checked out they told me because it was just me in the room, despite the multiple trips to both property restaurants, I only get credit for one person. Whaaaaa? Okay. When I checked in, I specifically asked about that credit and was told that I could apply it to breakfast on day one and the second day of my stay. When I inquired about the breakfast credit I was told I would receive, Nicki acted as though adding the credit for one was doing me a favor despite what the lovely woman upon checking in, Michelle, told me. Michelle is this place's saving grace. My final bill was $178, how and why they added an additional $722 in charges to me and expect me to keep calm is beyond me. The hotel is of no help and when I return, I will choose another property that is dog friendly as I usually select Kimptons for this reason. The new Virgin hotel does not charge for pets. I've stayed at the Kimpton property in San Diego multiple times and the one in Palm Springs... billing practices were super transparent and any concerns were immediately rectified, that was NOT my experience here. All I received were excuses in the form of gaslighting in condescending tones about my inquiries regarding my money. The reason the additional charges posted as due to me using s debit versus a credit card upon checking in... my question was why was that treated like a final POS transaction. The reply? "Wait a week to see if it comes off."

Yelp
Just say yes! This is the hotel to stay at. Close to everything. Beautiful inside and out. The service is warm and friendly from every, single, staff person!

Yelp
This hotel was so amazing!!! After spending HOURS on line searching for a pet friendly place that did not break the bank we were somehow blessed with a beautiful king suite package deal that included parking and a breakfast credit. Upon entering our room, we were pleasantly surprised with not one but TWO bottles of champagne chilling on ice and a plate of macaroons and a note from the front desk welcoming us to the hotel and wishing us a great visit Hotel amenities include two cozy robes, an umbrella and a flashlight (in your room) and a bicycle (in the lobby) you can borrow during your stay. The bedding and pillows were sooooo comfy!!! Our breakfast credit covered a really delicious breakfast and we actually had leftovers for lunch. An extra perk as an IHG member was to extend late check out to 2pm so we could spend more time in the city. The hotel is only about a mile from French Quarter and all the action and we enjoyed our walks. There were only a few things we didn't care for...there seemed to be a lack of communication between the person who booked our reservation and the front desk and I was really glad I had our reservation discussion in writing! Hubby said the shower water didn't heat up as well as he would have liked. Also, while thrilled they were pet friendly and didn't charge a pet fee, they seemed to be a little short of areas to walk our pooch and had to cross the street to walk him in the median strip. Still not enough of disappoint to rob a 5-star rating in my book! We totally loved our stay!!!

Yelp
Every aspect of our stay here was phenomenal. Front desk staff were attentive and helpful, the valets were welcoming and provided several excellent recommendations and the rooms were well stocked and wonderfully maintained. The bartenders we had (Lynn and Lauren) made some wonderfully creative cocktails and the coffe bar was a greta way to get ech day started. I'd never stayed at a Kimpton before but will look them up for future trips.

Yelp
Excellent boutique hotel on the fringe of the French Quarter. Far enough away to miss the noise, close enough to walk. Close to the river, St. Charles streetcar, and within walking distance to great bars, restaurants, and the WW2 Museum (which is a must). Room was large, quiet, clean and everything worked. We appreciated the daily housekeeping, something that has been missing in hotels lately. The staff, across the board, was exceptional. It's rare to find staff that are happy, helpful, and actually seem to love their work. Special thanks to Michelle at the front desk, who made our stay enjoyable with her great smile, sense of humor and encyclopedic knowledge of all things New Orleans. The Peacock lounge offers excellent food and beverages. And Gospel Coffee offers excellent free coffee to guests.
