"With plush blue velvet couches and tongue-in-cheek artwork sidled up by lime-green tufted headboards and bright-yellow bird cage light fixtures, this quirky 248-room stay could read as a total design disaster—but by some Seussical miracle, it all works. Characteristically thoughtful Kimpton amenities include a minibar stocked with gourmet local treats, Frette linens, and even a yoga mat so you never have to go too long without your beloved sun salutations and downward-facing dogs. Pull up a seat at one of the rooftop Biergarten’s communal tables, where you can nosh on a salted pretzel with one hand and guzzle a heady local brew with the other, or challenge some strangers to a friendly (if slightly unsteady) game of cornhole. "Once a rough-and-tumble steel town, Pittsburgh’s in the midst of a massive makeover—and the Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh, a funky, super-stylish Kimpton outpost is helping to lead the charge. Located in the city’s central business district across from Mellon Square Park, this Beaux-Arts belle is a quick ride from the Phipps Conservatory and the Botanical Gardens, and just across the Allegheny from the Andy Warhol Museum. With plush blue velvet couches and tongue-in-cheek artwork sidled up by lime-green tufted headboards and bright-yellow bird cage light fixtures, this quirky 248-room stay could read as a total design disaster—but by some Seussical miracle, it all works. It was a bit loud in the room. The connecting room made it so we could hear our neighbors and the entry door was a bit thin as well. We could hear dogs on the same floor. The shower was really annoying as there was no door and it got water on the floor, even with the floor mat. The bed and linens were very comfortable, we loved that. The TV didn’t work very well either, you’d think at the price point, a smart TV would be available. The front desk staff was all very friendly and we loved the wine hour. The Commoner was a wonderful experience as well. The valet was the WORST part of our stay. When we arrived, we were told to go around the block twice as there wasn’t a place for us to park. When we were leaving, the text feature was convenient but the getting the car was not. The valet parked our car in the middle of the street and said “go for it, have a good day”. There was an angry gentleman in the car behind us that the valet was taking turns cussing out. We had to rush to put our stuff in the car and get moving. It was such an uncomfortable, unpleasant experience given the fact we paid $45 a day to valet our car.

Had a fantastic stay! The rooms were clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The hotel’s upper lobby happy hour was a great touch, adding to the overall experience. Plus, the restaurant below, The Commoner, is an excellent spot for brunch or dinner. Would definitely stay again!

This is a fantastic hotel. This was our first stay and it is now our favorite hotel in the city. The location is really good. You are within walking distance of the arena, the convention center and many dining options. There's an affordable parking garage right across the street as well. The staff was friendly and the decor is unique and engaging. Luckily, our room was upgraded for our stay and the room was amazing. We had a nice view of the city and the bathroom was really something. The walk-in shower and tub looked like something from a resort and the bed provided a great night of sleep. We also ate at their restaurant, the Commoner, where we had a really good dinner. Everything about this hotel was done right; we can't wait to come back again.

We stayed the night. Clean rooms with a fun design. Service from the staff was great. Close to several great restaurants including The Ritual House. Also, I appreciated the service that let you tip the housekeeping staff via an app. I just tip the traditional tipped employees, but housekeeping is hard if you don't carry much cash.

Google
Excellent hotel, wonderful and friendly staff who accommodated my early arrival with pets. The rooms are great and immaculate, maybe a little small but it’s an historic building, breakfast is good, the social hour was a very pleasant surprise. Downtown is what it is but I walked around taking photos at night no worries and came back to this fantastic place. I’d stay again if in Pittsburgh!

I normally don’t write reviews for hotels but the staff at this hotel were uniformly amazing. From the front desk woman who checked me in and gave me a glass of wine since I’d missed their happy hour, to the fact they brought me a espresso machine for my room since there wasn’t a coffee machine, to the friendly people working during their happy hour. Prob one of the warmest hotel stays I’ve had in the past year or two. Thanks!

Google
Rooms were nice but lack luster housekeeping and absolutely terrible valet service really soured our recent stay. Valets were rude, slow and never offered to assist with opening doors, carrying bags or loading and unloading vehicle. In addition, the system they have to get your car, in which you have to text a code to an automated number and then wait for a reply that your car is ready, just plain sucks. On one occasion after sending the text and waiting 20 minutes I got a reply that said there no valets available and to try again in 10 minutes. And this was 2 hours before valet service was scheduled to end for the night. When the system did work, the average wait time for the car was 20 minutes. The traditional car valet has been a proven system since the invention of automobiles and seemed to work fine up until now. This was not a system that needed the addition of technology, especially when all it does is lengthen the waits we were accustomed to to retrieve our cars. Really felt let down by both the system in place and low level of service provided with the valets here. At one point we were told that our key fob didn't work and car would not lock by pressing the fob. Okay, the battery must have died, but instead of, you know MANUALLY LOCKING THE DOORS, they just left the car on the street unlocked. Is pushing the big LOCK button on the dash board such a hard thing to do? Hell they could have even just locked the car with the KEY that was inside the fob itself! Guess they didn't think of trying that? As for housekeeping, they did a good job but for unexplained reasons just didn't come to clean the room on one day, even though they did drop off an extra blanket that was requested. They came into the room and left the blanket, but didn't clean the room itself. That seemed odd, and no we did not have the Do Not Disturb sign up. When I told the front desk about this I was told that housekeeping was done for the day and that they would make sure our room was cleaned the following day. Not the best service to be honest. One last point, and this was also noticed by another couple we were with was that even though the room was listed as having a King sized bed, we couldn't get over the fact that it seemed much smaller. Maybe not as small as a Queen but certainly not the standard width of a King. Didn't measure it to confirm though but we were not alone in noticing this. I will say that the pillows and bed itself were VERY comfortable. So that was a plus. Also, while the room did have a mini fridge it did not have a microwave, had no fan in the bathroom and the thermostat seemed locked at 67 degrees and would not allow us to increase or lower the temp. TV was also old with a small screen and programming was basic at best. This hotel is really starting to show its age. Hotel was clean and drinks at the hotel restaurant and bar were very good.

Google
This hotel was great! 1. The staff was friendly and courteous. 2. The rooms were very nicely decorated and clean. This includes the bathrooms. 3. The Commoner, the attached restaurant, was delicious for brunch. The prices were reasonable. I would happily stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone.

Paul W.

Yelp
Stayed 1 night and the front of house staff could not have been more helpful. Check in was a breeze and the guest services rep was super friendly. It was late and I wanted a hot drink so she arranged for a Kettle, Coffee Maker and a Microwave to be brought to my room. Thank you for great service.

Scott R.

Yelp
Pros -very comfy bed -good location -food at the restaurant was very good -staff is very friendly -the room was very clean -the social hour was very lovely as well, we got a nice glass of wine and a beer. Opportunities -no coffee machines in the room -no laundry bags in the room -no water bottles in the room -the shower head is small and tiny and not good, water pressure is not good as well -unsure of why the glass is a half a wall, hard to turn on the shower. -get new TVs, they are old and small and slow. Park across the street in the city of Pittsburgh authority garage. It was $16 for the entire weekend, after 4pm on Friday. Valet at the hotel was way too much.

Jess N.

Yelp
My stay is ALWAYS 10/10 at hotel Monaco. It is my favorite hotel in the city and I always have to make a stop at the commoner. The hotel is always beautiful and more than clean. Service is great and I always look forward to my next 'staycation' when I'm able!

Cass O.

Yelp
The staff here is our of this world! They are so helpful and this hotel has so much to offer. The style is great, they are dog friendly and have a free happy hour! It is my first time staying here and the location is great and the staff has been wonderful- seriously from the valet, bellboy & front desk.

Madeleine L.

Yelp
Loved this hotel. Very unique. Only drawback was no coffee in the room and no small bottles of toiletries ( not a fan of big bottles to share). Coffee was served downstairs in the morning, for free, but it does require getting dressed. Happy hour with free wine and beer in the evening. Comfortable rooms. Great service. Good location.

John B.

Yelp
Amazing hotel! It really gives that old school unique style to it. Will visit again soon.

Kaleb M.

Yelp
Perfect downtown hotel for a weekend trip or staycation. We visited here for a birthday staycation downtown. The rooms are bright and quirky. The hotel staff is so friendly and I loved the cocktail hour from 5-6pm. The rooftop Biergarten is perfect for a summertime cocktail, with great views of downtown.

Gilbert G.

Yelp
My wife, two sons (17 yrs, 15 yrs,), miniature poodle, and I stayed here for one night during the return leg of a long road trip to the Midwest. This is a lovely high-end boutique hotel with delightful colors and a "birdcage" theme. Valet parking is about $42 per night and the complimentary happy hour (for a drink) and morning coffee are great. It's a dog-friendly hotel that does not charge an additional pet fee. Although it is a bit pricey, we found it was comparable to staying at nearby hotels which had a pet surcharge. But the Kimpton Hotel is unique and delightful. This is a very urban section of the city with limited green space for dogs. That said, I would recommend the Mellon Green (about a block away). it's open in the mornings, but they close the gates at night. Overall, this is a memorable place to stay in downtown Pittsburgh if you're here for one night!

April C.

Yelp
Great location. Very comfortable accommodations. I'd give it five stars but they don't offer room service nor was there a mini bar in the room. Also, the restaurant closes pretty early. They have morning coffee/tea service as well as a cocktail hour but we never took advantage of either because we were too busy exploring the city. The room is nicely appointed and a good size. The bathroom was amazing. The beds are comfortable and the staff is nice. The room was very quiet especially considering it is right in the heart of downtown. There is a church next door and we did hear the bells at 9 am but really nothing much else. I'd consider staying here again but will probably find a place with room service and a restaurant that stays open later.

Emily K.

Yelp
We stayed here for a friends wedding and enjoyed a delightful weekend. The hotel felt eclectic but still luxury. High end, but not stuffy. I loved the splashes of color, the unique decor and old school vibes. It made for some incredible wedding pictures! From check in to check out, the staff at the desk was welcoming and helpful. The rooms were so much bigger than I expected and the beds were very comfortable. The only drawback was the bar. Service was hit or miss and we often felt like they were trying to hurry us out or weren't interested in us being there. Saturday night for example, We were a group of at least 10 ready to drink at 11:30 and were basically told it was last call, we had to make up our minds right now what we wanted to drink and all we got was that. It was a weird way to welcome our group and felt like they just wanted to close early. Most of us probably would have gotten two drinks, some three in that time if we didn't feel like they didn't want us there. We left and walked to a bar down the street.

Melissa L.

Yelp
My entire stay was perfect! I had a problem with payment at check in and Tatiana was so nice and went above and beyond to make sure everything worked out. She continued to make sure my stay was amazing. She is a definite asset to your organization! Every employee I encounter was kind and professional and I will definitely stay here every time I am in Pittsburgh! 10 stars!!!

Sue S.

Yelp
We continue to be impressed every time we stay at a Kimpton. We only stayed here for one night while we were on a long road trip, but we found this hotel to be delightful and relaxing... exactly what we wanted. Like all the other Kimptons, the hotel is decorated in fun, bright, bold colors. There were a lot of fun little touches, from the flower murals in the hallways to the bright aqua doors. Also, the fact that the Kimptons are all pet-friendly and do not charge you to bring your four-legged family members still amazes me every time. This hotel was super dog-friendly. Everyone we met was really excited to see our dogs and treated them like special guests. I was delighted when the bellman offered to have a loaner dog bed brought up for us and bowls for the dogs. My only complaint is that there is like nowhere for the dogs to go potty. My husband said there was a dog relief area but I never found it. There are a couple of offices with lawns a few blocks away but the grass is all fenced off. I saw one guy holding his pet's leash from the sidewalk while his dog went on the grass. I also want to give a shout out to the staff. They were super friendly to our dogs, and they were overly helpful. When we needed silverware because our Door Dash order didn't have any, they brought us real plates, full silverware sets, cloth napkins, etc. We would definitely return.

Marqus R.

Yelp
Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh is definitely a one-of-a-kind hotel. It has the most stunningly beautiful and unique decor of any hotel I have ever stayed in. It just reeks of modern classiness. It is proof of what real interior designers can do. The service is top-notch professional and when you are in your room, you are in the lap of luxury. There are plenty of great amenities such as the rooftop Biergarten Bar with its outstanding city center views. Also, the Commoner restaurant which is anything but common with its vibrant design recalling Pittsburgh's industrial past and complements a kitchen that excels at adding modern flourishes to classic comforts.

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
We loved our stay. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean - the pillows have different firmness which was appreciated. The decor is fun and cute. Most of all, they're very pet friendly. You can leave your dog in the room which is a luxury these days. You can pay $42 for valet parking; I don't know if we were really lucky, but we were able to find street parking in front of the hotel all 3 nights.

Bernice

Yelp
My cousin had his wedding and reception there in September and I was impressed by what I experience. Hired help were awesome.

Liz G.

Yelp
Honestly, there's not a better Hotel in Pittsburgh. The staff, the service, the quality - it's all undeniable. The hotel is decorated beautifully & it is so unique. The rooms are large in size and very clean. I love the Wine Hour in the evenings! Such a nice amenity for guests. The hotel is totally dog friendly & they even provide beds & bowls! Our dogs had the best time. Would never stay anywhere else in Pittsburgh!

Aarti P.

Yelp
We had a fantastic time here during a friends wedding. We loved how accommodating and dog friendly this hotel really is. The decor , the service and the ambiance all encompassing a quintessential overnight stay in downtown Pittsburgh. Tip- if you pass on the valet, there is an overnight garage right around the corner.

Mark E.

Yelp
Great location, friendly staff and very clean rooms. Really enjoyed our stay, the hotel and the rooms were very much detailed-out and kept-up with. There is no parking lot, but there is a garage adjacent from the hotel. The Commoner (restaurant) is below the hotel and it's a great complement to the hotel. Two complains I have, very minor and possibly just specific to our room: the mattress was a bit worn, where certain parts of the bed has a bit more "give". Don't need to know what happened to it, but just an observation. The other one is the lack of a door on the glass shower. The water pressure was so strong, the water was splashing against me and spilling-out of the walk-in shower. Other than that, I'd love to stay in this hotel again. Great location and amazing hotel experience.

Dede L.

Yelp
Great hotel! I liked the location, staff is friendly and room clean. And I absolutely loved they did not have that hotel smell. I do wish that my room had a standalone shower, but that's just my preference. The restaurant, The Commoner, has a fantastic burger too ! Totally recommend this hotel.

Abby K.

Yelp
I stayed here two nights for a wedding I was in that was being held at hotel Monaco. The first night I stayed in one of the bridal suites with the bride to be and then the second night I stand in a king room. The suite was amazing and the hotel was perfect for a wedding! We had so much fun and it was beautiful. The staff at the wedding seemed overwhelmed and a little lost though. My king room was just fine. The reception desk staff were wonderful though! They let me and the other bridesmaids check in early and free since the wedding started during check in. They even took our numbers and called us as soon as the rooms were ready. Over all a great experience but for the price I was expecting a little more from the room.

Laura J.

Yelp
Rooms and decor are clean and beautiful. The restaurant is great as well. Checking in was ridiculous the last 2 times we have stayed here. The front desk loves to make it as difficult as possible to get checked in. We are not high maintenance people but geez, the girl working was honestly not helpful at all and seemed to enjoy making it difficult. This last stay, The reservation was under my husband's name with his credit card on file. I had the reservation # and his credit card with me, he was going to be there in about an hour. She wouldn't let me check in without him unless I gave her my card. She told me if she took my card she would be charging the full amount of our stay plus $100 incidentals to my debit card right away even though my husband made the reservation with his card and I had it with me. We have the same last name and live at the same address. It was just a hassle after driving all day. I waited, my husband came to check us in and we didn't have to deal with her anymore so all was good after that.

Dr. Tony R.

Yelp
Great spot in the city. Parking is cheap across the street. Rooms are roomy. Ask to get an espresso machine to your room. Took a little work, but tasted great. Free coffee, tea AM on the second floor.

Nick K.

Yelp
The bartender Colin today served kindly and professional - he's a great and handsome person. Amazing place. I love its dark mode lighting that make your stay comfortable. Next time will try their food. Cheers!

Jeff B.

Yelp
Stayed here 5 years later -- and wow. The entire Monaco team was fantastic. The bars were both great (with wonderful bartenders and servers), and the Commonwealth was great. They definitely upped their game.

Gabrielle V.

Yelp
Four stars- great downtown location (I recommend parking in the garage a block away on Sixth ave). The service is great. Free coffee and tea in the morning and free wine and beer from 5-6pm. We didn't take advantage but it was a nice touch. They allowed the alcohol to be taken to go and also offered a daily cocktail. The room was super clean and the decor was beautiful (though that depends on how you feel about bird decor). The one complaint I have is the lack of seating. Could have used another chair by the desk as we ate a lot of takeout during the trip. The shower was large and had good water pressure. Overall, decent value for the money and with the discount they had for this particular weekend it was a good deal, though I have stayed with at least one nicer hotel that cost less. I would recommend and I would return here!

Greta S.

Yelp
We enjoyed our one night stay in a large spotless room with a king bed and great pillows. The carpet was so clean I didn't mind walking on it in my socks! The soaps and shampoos have a pleasant fragrance. The staff were friendly and helpful. Room service isn't available until 5pm so I had a wedge salad with a surprise topping of crunchy garlic bits in the lovely restaurant for lunch, tasty. There is a makeshift bodega at the front desk where one is able to purchase small bottles of alcohol along with a variety of snacks. Park in the garage across the street ($22.00 for overnight) if you want to save the $42.00 charge for Valet Service.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Had another staycation here during Covid shutdown and it was amazing yet again! Staff is super and they are following all the protocols to keep everyone safe. There is no room cleaning service during your stay but you can request daily trash pickup and fresh towels if needed. If you need anything else you can text them and they bring right up - so accommodating and easy! Food is pretty limited - we mainly stayed in and their in house restaurant is the commoner. They have a fairly limited menu so if you're staying a few days it could get a little repetitive. Luckily we were able to partake in the brunch menu as well so it opened up our options a bit. This time we stayed in a room with a soaking tub and wow - I was hooked on a good soak. They provided bath salts and it was so relaxing-loved it! This hotel is pet friendly so we were able to bring our little monsters and I think they enjoyed it as well ;-) we plan on coming back - great accommodations and wonderful staff!

Marcus C.

Yelp
Visited Pittsburgh for first time for Monday Night Football game vs Bears. The hotel has awesome ambience and decor throughout. My wife said I hit a homerun choosing this hotel. Vety convenient location to Heinz Field and Strip District shops. Commuter train station located a few blocks from hotel. Hotel located in downtown Pittsburgh inside free transportation district. Will definitely return next season for another Steelers victory.

Russell D.

Yelp
The Hotel Monaco a Kimpton property is a very nice and uniquely decorated Hotel. We Live in Pittsburgh but stayed there as a local get away for my wife's 65th birthday. The Hotel knew it was my wife's birthday so when we entered our room we discovered a very nice personally written birthday note and a bottle of wine a very nice touch ! Thank you Hotel Monaco ! The hotel offers between five and six o'clock a complementary beer and wine party on the first floor for hotel guests. There is lots of room to relax and to mingle with other guests. You have a choice of white or red wine or a Local microbrew- last night they had Penn Pilsner. We had a beer and then went to the hotel's popular beer garden which is on the hotels top floor with plans for another beer. The beer garden is an open terrace with music on the hotels roof . Unfortunately due to its popularity we could not get a table . If you want to visit make a reservation in advance . Accordingly we visited the hotel bar for a couple of drinks . The bar is beautifully decorated and has a nice atmosphere the bartenders were very friendly and talented mixologists. We then moved to a table for dinner at the hotel's restaurant. I found the dinner menu complete but limited . We had a choice of one pasta one steak a pork chop or salmon dish . My wife ordered the salmon which was outstanding. I ordered the pork chop . I should of read the menu more carefully because I didn't realize that it was prepared fried . The pork was good but very heavy . We valet parked our car . The charge was $38 and with a $5 tip dropping off and picking up the next day it totaled $48 which seemed expensive for Pittsburgh. IMO the Hotel should discount the fee for hotel guests slightly to perhaps $25 . I wanted to mention that all Kimpton Hotel's are pet friendly . They have separate floors for guests who bring their pets. It was fun to meet several dogs and their owners in the lobby and around the hotel . This is a unique hotel with a friendly staff a centralized location in the city and good food . I rate the hotel a solid 5 stars my only suggestion would be to expand the limited dinner menu and slightly reduce the parking fee. You will enjoy your visit !

Taylor G.

Yelp
WOW! Absolutely gorgeous hotel with the nicest staff! Bellhop got our bags out of the car and rolled it up to our room. He then wrote down a list of places to visit and was all around a cool cat! Free wine during happy hour & free coffee to get us going in the morning. I think James Bond was staying here as well.

Linda S.

Yelp
Just checked out from weekend stay. Hotel was overrated and overpriced. Never received a coffee maker in room. Tv remote was difficult to "control". On the other hand bed was comfortable. Location was very convenient. It seems to be a great venue for weddings. Too I'm already married. Hotel services (like room service) were extremely expensive. Will not use again. Mary Fowler

Yelp
We love Kimpton hotels, simply because they are the best. The customer service, attention to detail, cleanliness, and location! I checked in at 7pm, missing wine hour, but was offered a glass to take to my room. The room was fun! Bright colors and interesting decor, yet functional. I was particularly impressed with the bluetooth speaker available. The speaker was very helpful in ensuring a good night's sleep. The room also had large windows (didn't over look anything) so not to feel so closed in. The bathroom was clean, the closet spacious. There was a chair with ottoman as another seating option if you didn't want to lay in bed to watch TV. Once settled, I ventured down to the restaurant on the main floor. Had a decent meal before hitting the shower and bed for my conference in the morning. The bathroom was a walk in shower. Good water pressure, and the absolute best shower products ready to be dispensed in the walk-in. No complaints and look forward to our next Kimpton experience.

Yelp
I Booked This Hotel For About 3 Nights, Don't Get Me Wrong - The Service Was AWESOME! The Staff Here Is Extremely Attentive And Accommodating To Request And Go Above & Beyond To Make You Feel Comfortable During Your Stay. The Designs Were Totally My Style! The Vibrant Colors Paired With The Gold Accents Were Perfect! Now Here Is Where They Lost Some Points - I Like My Hotel Room HOT When I Go To Bed, I Hate To Be Cold! The Thermostats That They Have There Only Turn On The Heat When It Senses MOVEMENT In The Room! WTF? So Needless To Say I Wore A Damn Hoodie To Bed Each Night To Keep Warm .. Which Is Ridiculous Providing The Money I Paid To Stay Here. I Want To Send A Huge Shout Out To Conner At The Front Desk! I Was A Total Diva At Times, But He Handled Me With So Much Professionalism, Care, & Grace!

Bruce H.

Yelp
As a follow-up to my earlier reviews, I will give the hotel and their parking concessionaire credit for finally coming through with a reimbursement for the parking ticket levied on my car while in the valet's care. It took several emails, two yelp reviews and three months time to get the ticket and late fees reimbursed by check, which I feel is too long and arduous for a business in the hospitality industry. My advice to customers considering parking your car with the valet is to save yourself the headache and seek parking elsewhere.

Toothy M.

Yelp
Fav hotel in pittsburgh. Very stylish and well maintained. Great restaurant downstairs. Alejandra at the front desk was excellent to work with and really accommodating.

Yelp
Love this hotel. I was very satisfied with their customer service, the cleanliness, the views and the location. They offer free bike rentals... Fun! The bikes are even super cute and vinatge looking. I give this place 5 out of 5 stars for sure. I highly recommend you to stay here when visiting Pittsburg. Tip: complimentary wine from 5 to 6 pm

Yelp
This place is cool, weird, fun, and cute! Oh, and birdy! They have a great location and their place is full of eye candy! Interesting patterns, art, bird cage art, wall paper, carpets... Just wow! It's kind of one of those things you have to check out for yourself :) very interesting concept. Staff is great, it has it's own personality, and the beds are comfy :)

Yelp
I loved every moment of my stay!! I loved every factor of my stay!! On the day before arrival, I spoke with Mira Grinage, assistant front desk manager, who not only quickly coordinated my request but also took special care to listen to my unique story which led to a "welcome back" note (by Alana) placed in my room with two delicious bottles of water!! At checkin, Mira kindly offered a late checkout. When I noticed that the room temperature could not reduce below 67 degrees Fahrenheit (hotel room set point for all rooms), Mira quickly sent a Dyson fan. The internet failed to offer connection, and upon calling the front desk, they offered access to a private network which allowed immediate connection. The rooms were super cosy, and I shall be ordering pillows from the Kimpton boutique! And, most importantly, the staff treated my two little puppies like royal princesses. It was a divine pleasure to once again stay at this beautiful hotel, our favourite on Earth and Pluto and beyond! :)

Yelp
I have been driving across the country and staying at hotels for over two weeks. This will be my 8th night spent in a hotel. Not a happy hotel guest. Find this place to be more about its image and not really focused on its guests. At this place the tap water is white .. and bottle water will be charged to your room. You also will not be given a coffee machine/ water / microwave in your room. The room I was given was a joined as well, no one told me that! Sure the lights are made from bird cages but I'd rather have a heater / ac unit in the room. The rooms are controlled by a touch screen thermostats. The heat / ac are connected to the building and not the individuals room. So there's no "white noise" ... just that comforting silence sound. The mattress makes noise too like crackle sound Brightly colored, patterned but mostly annoying and surface as a hotel. Even the walls are fake! I'm still stunned I had to pay for bottle water here. Wish I had stayed at the Hilton or Holiday Inn now.

Yelp
The Hotel Monaco official owns a special little residence in my hotel loving heart. From the time they first opened a few years ago until now, they've remained my number one hotel to book while in Pittsburgh. I'm clearly not alone in that sentiment, so it's no surprise that the rate has gone up a bit since I first started staying here, but luckily I've come up on some good deals as of recent. The hotel is whimsical from the moment of arrival. Just look up! The lobby boasts the most beautiful, wild flower chandelier, and lounge spaces just above. The adjacent restaurant and rooftop Biergarten offers some wonderful food and beverage options (including some bomb-ba-ba-bomb frozen rose, that is equally as refreshing as it is strong.) Rooms are always clean, with colorful, fun accents and of course, their signature Kimpton robes waiting in the wings for you. Additionally, the location is great. There is so much just within walking distance! I can't say enough good things about this hotel! Staying here truly makes work travel, something to always look forward to.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel! Love the beer during cocktail hour. Easy walkability. Breakfast at The Commoner was delicious. Rooms were great. Highly recommend this hotel in Pittsburgh.

Yelp
We stayed here for a friends wedding and the hotel was beyond cool! Trendy AF. You can't help take photos of each fun little design/decor find! The rooms are beautiful and the bathroom soaps are so luxurious! The roof top bar does not disappoint, especially at sunset!

Yelp
I'm so impressed with this hotel! My husband, my dog, and I are on our first trip since the pandemic started to see family in the midwest, and we stayed at the Kimpton Pittsburgh both to and from our destination. The hotel is clearly taking covid-19 precautions seriously, requiring masks in public areas, offering free masks to guests, restricting elevators to 1 guest/family at a time, and so on. I feel safe staying here, and the extremely professional, welcoming staff put me at ease. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean, and there are hand sanitizer dispensers everywhere. Covid aside, the hotel is so comfortable. The beds and bathrooms are luxurious, and the rooms are quiet. The room service is delicious, my big dog is super happy here, the amenities (free wine, coffee, no pet fee, etc.) are amazing, and I can't say enough about the quality of the staff. This is a truly great hotel.

Yelp
The only good thing about this hotel were the check-in, check-out, that they're dog friendly, and the restaurant below the lobby (the Commoner) is decent. Other than those things, there's not much going for this particular overpriced Kimpton. We had stayed in February 2023 when the weather was beautiful and perfect for walking around pittsburgh. The location of the hotel isn't great - there's some shady characters in the surrounding areas and not a whole lot within walking distance. They do offer valet which is overpriced at like $36 a day, however, they offer you to self park in the parking deck across the street (which we did) for $6 daily - HOWEVER, this is not a parking deck you would want to be alone in. It's deep underground with dim lighting and lots of stairs to go up/down. The room itself was quite big, however, they gave us a queen bed when we had requested a king. The air conditioning didn't seem to work or blow any sort of air, and it was just stagnant. Our thermostat wouldn't go below 72° which might as well have been Hell on Earth for me. While the hotel is located in the city, you will definitely know it is from the sirens or honks - they seemed to have skimmed on noise reducing windows. The doors to each room also SLAM shut so you hear others on your floor going in and out of their rooms. The bathroom was nice but I cannot stand that hotels now have these barn doors for the bathroom door. You can hear EVERYTHING. We also needed to give our dog water and even when we let the cold water run for 3-4 minutes, it was super cloudy and very "polluted" looking. We actually went downstairs to the lobby to purchase bottled water for him. I read a review where it said that the elevators are small (about 4 people can fit comfortably) and that they're slow - we waited a good 5 minutes for 1 elevator (and there's 4 in the elevator bank). Not sure what the holdup was there. They did accommodate us for an early check-in and didn't charge us for our dog which was a plus. We didn't get a chance to go to the rooftop bar because it was closed, but we did have dinner at the Commoner and it was good! Limited menu so not great for picky eaters. Overall, wouldn't go back.

Yelp
Honestly, hotels don't get much better than this. As you can reasonably expect with any Kimpton hotel, the Pittsburgh Monaco is stylish and comfortable, with a glorious bed and a beautiful bathroom furnished with high quality toiletries. The decor is slightly funky, but not annoyingly so; I love the weird and awesome birdcage lamp by the bed, as well as the art adorning the walls. They do the little things well. There are easily accessible outlets on the desk and both sides of the bed (with handy graphics to let you know where). There's a handwritten note welcoming you into the room, and a yoga mat that I only spotted as I was leaving. I really wish I knew about the yoga mat when I checked in, because I absolutely would have done...no yoga at all, but I would've felt like I could, and that's what's important. The staff is weirdly nice and helpful (although that might just be Pittsburgh), from the front desk folks to the room service* guy to the strange man that was in my room when I checked in.** And just so you don't think I'm some raving Kimpton fanboy, I'm going to tell you the problems I do have with this hotel, because nobody's perfect: 1. The tissues are scratchy. 2. The shower kind of sprays all over the bathroom and soaks the bathmat. 3. They didn't tell me my fly was open when I was checking out, which really could've saved me some embarrassment at the airport. But other than that, this is a hotel done right. Good work, Kimpton. ____________ *Room service was solid, and not completely exorbitant price-wise. **I was initially frightened, but it turns out he wasn't there to murder me, he was just fixing the thermostat.

Yelp
I recently attended a conference that was held in the ballroom and the smaller room above the check in area. The room was set up nicely and had good lighting, the chairs were comfortable enough, and the bathrooms were just down the hall. The snacks that were provided in the afternoon were quite good - I'm still thinking about the ricotta dip with honey and balsamic! Might have to make that at home sometime! Anyway. The hotel was nice and the decor was interesting - I guess I'd say eccentric or eclectic? Chandelier type light fixtures with talons, portrait of a woman with the bottom half painted green, etc. Not really my taste in decor but it worked for the Kimpton. Overall, a great conference space.

Yelp
I have never stayed at a Kimpton before, but I'm confident with saying that it is definitely my new favorite hotel brand! We recently stayed 3 nights at the Pittsburgh location and had a wonderful stay. Our top reason for staying at Kimpton was their pet-friendly policy-- we were able to bring our two fur babies on our trip and not have to worry about paying an arm and a leg to do so. They also provide dog beds and dishes so you don't have to worry about lugging it all with you! I loved how flexible and guest conscious this hotel brand is. The room was very clean and full of all of the amenities we could want or need. They even have a list of items available for loan or to keep in case you forgot something-- awesome! Of course, I forgot a razor and the desk was able to provide me with one and asked if there was anything else I might need. Also, one of our dogs has medicine that he takes daily that has to be refrigerated. Most hotels charge you for a refrigerator or you are not allowed to move anything in the mini bar or else risk the chance of being charged. Thankfully, Kimpton allows you to move items around and store personal items in the fridge at no extra charge or hassle-- yesss! The staff at this location were very friendly and accommodating. They always held the door open for me as I took the pups out for their daily walks and gave the pups TONS of belly rubs! The happy hour every night was also a fun treat and the staff was very generous with the pours and ensured that we were having a nice, relaxing time. We received a noise complaint on our last night (it started storming when we went out to dinner and the pups weren't too happy about it). They kindly called us and we rushed back as soon as we could-- luckily, they were understanding and did not make us feel like bad hotel guests (or bad pet parents!). I joined the Kimpton Karma rewards and am looking forward to my future visits with this hotel brand. I can't wait to "raid the mini bar" and take advantage of free nights and room upgrades! Thanks, Kimpton and hope to see you soon! :)

Yelp
Hotel was easy to find and in a good location for business. My room was eclectically and beautifully decorated but you could not control your own heat/air and my view, or lack hereof, left a lot to be desired. There was a refrigerator but it was for the minibar only. $8.00 for water was your only option if you didn't bring your own. Ordered room service for dinner so I could have an early night. It was really decent for room service. I won't stay again because it's not really my vibe - despite the eclectic decor, it's kind of stuffy - but it was fun for one night.

Yelp
Stayed here for 1 night with my friend when we spent a night/day in downtown Pittsburgh. Lovely decor, great customer service. Also, pet friendly hotel. Our room had a lot of whimsical, colorful, accents and decor. I likes the black and white stripes as well as the bright green velvet. The bed was super comfortable and large! We didn't have much of a view, but it was pretty quiet. The mini bar had everything that you could want, though we just ordered room service. Bathroom was clean, modern. The hotel had a happy hour with local beers and wines. We had two glasses of white wine, then headed to The Commoner for our Saturday night dinner. Lovely restaurant; I'd make a reservation in case there's an event or game going on. They also have a biergarten rooftop area which is lovely, very NYC-esque. A great thing about Kimpton is that if you ever need something (toothpaste, floss), they will provide it! I imagine that this is a pricy hotel, but you get what you pay for and they do have a rewards program. I would stay here again.
