I had a fantastic stay at the Kimpton Hotel in Seattle! The room was spacious and thoughtfully designed, with a very comfortable bed and one of the largest hotel bathrooms I’ve ever seen—perfectly suited for wheelchair accessibility if needed. The attention to detail and comfort was evident throughout the space. What truly made the experience exceptional was the staff—friendly, welcoming, and always willing to go the extra mile to accommodate any request. I left feeling genuinely cared for and very happy with my stay. Highly recommend!

Our family visited Seattle and chose Kimpton Hotel Monaco for the last leg of our stay. Although the hotel is undergoing major renovations, that was never an issue. Every employee we interacted with was exceptionally courteous and helpful. The restaurant, Marin, is delicious, with an excellent staff. The hotel is in an excellent location. Upon leaving, I accidentally left a very sentimental and special item. The staff was extremely helpful in locating it and getting it back to me. Should we ever visit Seattle again, we will definitely stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco again!

I just stayed three nights at The Monaco and was genuinely surprised this is a Kimpton property. I travel often and rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience fell well below expectations — especially given the brand’s reputation. While I understand there was a large conference in town, that’s all the more reason to elevate the level of service. At no point during my stay did I feel welcomed, cared for, or even acknowledged. The staff seemed burnt out, disengaged, and overwhelmed (and rather green) — a clear reflection of poor management and lack of support. It didn’t feel like anyone was invested in the guest experience. My room was booked through a third-party site, but the nightly rate was still steep, and it was hard to see any value in what was offered. The lobby has a large, unsightly stain right at the entrance — an immediate red flag. C’mon guys, it cost like $200 to have professional carpet cleaners! The hotel lacked the personality, charm, and hospitality Kimpton is known for. There was no warmth, no energy, and no attention to detail. The resort and amenity fees are frankly absurd. I'd gladly pay them if it felt like employees were properly trained, fairly compensated, and empowered to provide a great experience but that wasn’t the case. This property feels like a cash grab, stripped of the quirky spirit and thoughtful service I usually associate with Kimpton. The location is hands down the best part of the property. I’m considering escalating this to Kimpton Corporate because I truly believe this property is in need of stronger leadership and some real TLC. Particularly for how high the rates can be!

*Hotel was undergoing renovations when we visited* Pros: We arrived very late at night, but were greeted by very friendly staff and felt welcomed immediately. The concierge explained the resort fee and the benefits that comes with it, which was helpful. Complimentary water in the room was nice. The $10 per day credit for food/drinks is nice too. The bed was very comfortable - I saw other reviews about ratty mattresses and toppers, we didn't have that issue (I examined the mattress). Cons: Going off of other's pictures, we stayed in a recently remodeled room. It felt very "millennial beige" and souless compared to the funky aesthetic they had before. This was our first time staying at a Kimpton hotel, so I'm not very familiar with the brand, but it seems that "funky" was their thing. Unfortunately that's gone now and there's not much color at all in the room. The most frustrating part wasn't the construction (which we couldn't even hear) it was the seemingly confusing lack of outlets in the room! As it turns out, they're on the SIDE of the nightstand and very hard to see. I didn't even notice until I read another review on here that mentioned it. Overall, great location, decent price for what you get, and comfortable, albeit bland, rooms. Maybe once they finish their renovations it will have a bit more charm.

One of the smaller hotels in downtown Seattle that does keep up with the big names. The whole building has a warm and cozy environment when compared to the outdoor rain and fog. The staff here were very helpful and room service was pretty quick. I would recommend going to the lounge for happy hour if you're in the mood to chill out or the restaurant for some good food. The only downside would be parking, as you would have to park elsewhere downtown. Mind you, this review is from before the new renovations.

The climate controls didn't work in our room so it was incredibly warm, when we called down to the front desk they kept saying they were sending someone up to fix it and no-one ever came up. We also booked our room with a crib for our baby and it was missing so many pieces including the mattress that it was unsafe to use, they didn't have any spares so I had to sleep on the floor with the baby. everything in our room was just a little bit underwhelming, the internet was extremely slow, the shower water pressure was very soft and the hotel towels must have been original to the building because they were scratchy and not soft at all. This was our second stay at the Kimpton Monaco, we stayed here about ten years ago and had a great stay and great time, I'm not sure when this place started going down hill but I won't ever stay here again!

Google
I found my room quite nice, and although the outlet locations are confusing as others mentioned I didn’t have any issues with noise. The renovation work seemed limited to the lobby and wasn’t that intrusive. The staff and communication with guests, however, need a lot of work. I arrived early morning the day after I had planned because of flight delays and missed connections. When I tried to check in the initial response was because they hadn’t heard from me the night before I was marked as a no-show and my reservation had been canceled. I had paid in full for a three night stay in advance, had gotten no refund, and was essentially told I just needed to rebook my room (and double pay) on my own. Although I understand ideally it would’ve been courteous of me to try to reach out to the hotel between rebooking my flights the night before, this was not the response I would expect from a 4 star hotel to a sleep-deprived guest who was up all night just trying to make it to Seattle. Second, although initially pleased to hear about the perks available when I was finally able to check in to my room after involving a manager, there were again multiple communication issues. I was told I could get free tickets to the Seattle Art Museum, only to be told by a different front desk person later on that partnership had since ended. Whatever the other attraction was (some sort of observation deck) they couldn’t get me tickets for that day either. There is a $10 per night room credit that I was told is redeemable at the hotel restaurant. When I tried to pay my breakfast bill at the restaurant my final morning the waitress was totally confused about this and said there was no way for me to pay unless I had been given a voucher by the hotel. At checkout the staff told me the waitress was incorrect, and I should have been able to charge the meal to my room like I thought. They apologized and said they would talk to the restaurant staff, but there was no offer to take the cost of the breakfast off my bill or in any way reimburse me for the $30 worth of meal credit I had lost. Until they can improve their level of service I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

*Hotel is undergoing drastic renovations and the pictures online aren't accurate. I was told the renovations should be finished in July.* Pros- -The food at the Marlin was so tasty. -The beds were comfy. -The location was great. Cons- -Cheap toilet paper -When we checked in, we weren't told about the amenities, such as tickets to the Columbia Tower, and we were told we didn't get breakfast, even though we thought we booked that. Turns out, we actually WERE supposed to have breakfast included but we weren't told that until the second day we were there which meant we paid for breakfast our first morning there. -I have stayed in hotels all over the world and never in my life had someone walk into my room, WITHOUT KNOCKING, late at night. It was scary, I felt violated, and when I called the front desk to notify them we had an intruder, the guy didn't seem to think it was a big deal but said he would look into it. I didn't hear why until around 11am the next morning after I slept so poorly, thinking a homeless person was looking for a room to sleep in. (I could hear the doors on my hallway open and close during the night). It turns out, the intruder was a PM maintenance guy who didn't recieve proper communication that there were people staying on that floor...due to the renovations. After I talked to a manager at the front desk the next morning, I was informed about the amenities and breakfast we were supposed to recieve and she was apologetic and offered us free dinners and waived our amenity fee. I guess that was the best they could do. Wish I had a better experience, but felt the need to share because it was such a scary experience for me.

Yelp
If Caelen is working, your in good hands. Great accommodation, valet was easy, staff is super nice. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
Booked last minute on hotel tonight. This was my mom's favorite stay on road trip due to the bed being so comfy. Outlier is located within the hotel. Had a gym which was very clean and had a good selection of equipment. Valet only for parking. Update: after checking to ensure my deposit went back on card and calling for an email receipt. I was charged for two nights when I did not stay for nights. I was told they charged me for two cars. Again wrong I didn't have two cars. So I am taking away a star for that. Please get a receipt and ensure they do not over charge you like they did me.

Yelp
As expected for the price. Clean hotel. Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Spacious rooms. Nice shower (excellent water pressure). The staff really go above and beyond to meet requests. I can't praise the staff enough. The only downfall is the elevators. One elevator for certain floors and two for the rest. I understand the concept but it's a pain (for the poors lol). Watch out for the valet parking. It's hefty at nearly $75 per night including taxes and fees. Seattle parking is wild though

Yelp
On a weekend getaway to Seattle, my husband and I stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. The location was great as it was walking distance to most of the things that we wanted to do. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating - we arrived very early in the morning, but could not check in until early afternoon and they were more than happy to hold our bags for us while we went out and explored. Additionally, they made sure to give us a phone call as soon as our room was ready, which ended up being almost 2 hours earlier than our scheduled check in time. We appreciated their consideration and willing to work with us. The room itself was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. Given the price and the location, I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
The hotel is well situated for going to the symphony which is why I chose it. It's also walking distance to the art museum, Ivar's, and Pike Place Market. However, I felt misled by the room description. The room I reserved was listed as a King Premium Seattle View. When I got to my room, the window looked out at a gray wall with vents in it. I questioned the front desk and they told me that is the correct room. The explanation was that there are no rooms with a view because of the building's location. If that's the case, then I suggest they change the wording on their website to Standard King so one never expects a view. The other thing that was off putting was the $25 resort fee that other reviewers have complained about. It was never explained to me that I could use the money in the hotel restaurant or for snacks in the little snack bar located in the lobby until I was checking out. If I had known earlier, I would definitely have taken advantage and bought myself one of the yummy sounding but incredibly expensive milkshakes I saw advertised there. I guess I should just count my blessings that they alerted me to the funds at all because I was able to snag a $10 chocolate bar, a small bag of chips and a bag of jerky before I walked out the door.

Yelp
My partner and I enjoyed this hotel stay. The staff were friendly and accommodating; although they ran out of lotion. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel and room were clean. This was also a great location and we didn't have problems finding the hotel or getting rides. I recommend this hotel if you plan to explore the Seattle area!

Yelp
Great hotel! I stayed for two separate weeks in two different rooms and had a great experience both times! Love that it's so dog friendly and there's no fee! They even have a gated area with a code behind the hotel to let your dog out in a safe environment with artificial turf, a gravel area, wooden platform with chairs, and umbrella covered doggy bag and trash bin area. Service here is great! Everyone is friendly and accommodating. Love their complimentary morning coffee and good quality tea bags/station, evening wine hour, and water bottles at the front desk. They also can microwave something for you if needed. The room itself has just a mini fridge. There is a nice gym, free pinball arcade machines, and valet. If you enjoy the kimpton hotels I think you'll enjoy this one!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and it was fantastic! We had two geriatric dogs with us and the gated dog walking area worked out perfectly for us. The rooms were large and have a mini-fridge. They do have microwaves available upon request. If you're traveling with pets, I would definitely recommend this Kimpton in downtown Seattle. It was quiet, clean, and the people working were great!

Yelp
My stay at the Kimpton could've been better. Prior to arrival, my job booked a High Level Room at a particular rate about 2 months before. We flew in from the East Coast and arrived close to 11 PM. I even got a text earlier that day advising my room is ready. As I walked into the hotel I caught the front desk agents vibe already. The front desk agent seemed annoyed that I distracted her from her book. No smile, no greeting, no nothing. She began checking me in and assumed my co-worker was my romantic partner. She then wrote my room # down for the 3rd floor. My coworker checks in and she gives him a room on the 11th floor. Why does he get a high level room and my room is on the 3rd floor even though I checked in first? I tell her my job booked a high level room and I could tell she cracked a little as I wanted to challenge this. She then says some randomness which I believe is total BS about she provided a complimentary upgrade. She never mentioned this prior and I believe only said this as a line began to form and wanted to toss the blame on me. I exchanged a few word about my stay previously at the W and she began saying views in Seattle are not that good the higher you go. Completely pointless and just poor service. She checks me into a room on the 7th floor and I just take it. I'm still concerned why I was given 3, and my coworker 11 if I checked in first and our reservations were identical. After this experience I noticed a trend. Service at this hotel seems rather bad! Anytime I went into the lobby I wasn't even greeted with a smile or any words. This could be a Seattle thing but I will tell you, poor service was definitely given during my stay!! The room was rather spacious but not quite my style. I'm still appreciative but the décor is a mixture of Vera Bradley meets your grandmothers furniture with flares of modern. I say that not to be funny.... The bedroom also had 2 lights out with broken handles. Would I stay here again. NO! I'd choose the W again or hearing from other colleagues the Olympic Hotel. This experience was not good and I think the management should make sure the night staff is providing the level of service IHG is know for with this tier of hotel.

Yelp
Great hotel. Caelen at the front desk was friendly and welcoming. If he's there you're in good hands. Valet service was great and very nice clean rooms.

Yelp
I typically don't like "vintage" (or old) hotels, but this was not how I imagined to be and I actually enjoyed staying here. Service - 3.5/5. pretty friendly. Valet guy - 4/5. nice and on time Amenities- 4/5. pet friendly but the pet bed is meant for a small lapdog. Not for our big husky puppy. Shampoo and conditioner (which I hardly ever use the ones available at hotel) are actually nice. Room - 4/5. surprisingly clean and nice looking. Restaurant downstairs - 2.5/5. presentation is good, but nothing we tried were good. They were all greasy and how they put together didn't make sense. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel.

Yelp
The hotel staff here is the nicest! The rooms need a little sprucing up but the service makes it fantastic!

Yelp
Great staff, fun 5pm wine hour with live music or DJ, a lot of the Hotel peeps come down to hang, so it's a decent vibe

Yelp
Very, very disappointed. I'd been under the impression Kimpton was a classier, boutiquish type of hotel. Not this place. The location itself was fine. The place charges $25 a day for a RESORT fee. The best is how they "explain" it. It's for the "free coffee" in the lounge from 5am - whenever (a time frame for "free coffee"), access to their gym (are you f'ing kidding me!), and there's a wine hour from 5p-6p. We get into our "premium" room. It was kinda cute looking but 2 things really bother me. 1. There was no body soap for the shower. You had to either use what was on the wall--body wash--or use the hand soap. For $400+ a night, gimme a fucking bar of soap when I shower. 2. They have shampoo, conditioner and body wash attached to the wall. I hate that. Ours was close to empty, so useless!!! Oh, the remote in the room barely worked. Especially since we were early birds and wanted to watch some TV before bed. We wanted to have breakfast in the restaurant but they didn't want business. We wait for about 3 minutes to be greeted, even though 4 different employees walked right past us. The "manager" comes over and says it will be about 15 minutes to get seated. (The place is half empty). He advised us it was for "staff to catch up". Really? On a Saturday morning, your 4 employees can't handle half a restaurant? Geesh! The mirror in the room was awesome. That's about the best thing I can say. I definitely would not recommend, and I definitely wouldn't come back. This is a one and done for me

Yelp
We had an unbelievably negative experience. We booked this hotel because we were expecting it to be a bit nicer and it was my birthday. We booked our room and immediately called to update to the spa room. They assured us that it was available and at check in we would be booked into a spa room. We then checked in and were told the front clerk "didn't know anything about that" and had a standard room which was honestly a huge let down, as we would have stayed elsewhere certainly if a nicer room wasn't available. The hotel also says it offers room service but it DOES NOT. We called the restaurant 6 times, no answer. I finally came downstairs, asked the front desk what to do, they said walk into the restaurant. I then stood in the restaraunt for god knows how long with zero acknowledgement, only to have to flag someone down and ask if they had room service because I was calling and no one answered. They then responded "yeah... there's only two of us" as if I was inconveniencing them by using the service. This is a good place to go if you just need somewhere to rest your head. Do not go here for a good hospitality treatment or any type of resort service.

Yelp
Was a fan of Kimpton hotels before pandemic. Liked the restaurants typically, staff was usually a little better trained and helpful and rooms were usually a bit nice than your average Hilton or Marriott. And they had great coffee service in the morning. My business is early starts. Most important thing is a cup of coffee. Both days at this location no coffee at 5:30 or 6:00am. Time to shake off the pandemic excuses and brew some beans! Today at checkout, the front desk person was sleeping. We had a lot of equipment and my colleague had to go in, load the cart and take care of it herself. We waited as long as we could and had no one to get our bill ao left without it. Room was nice and clean as expected. Restaurant looked like ok place to get a drink. Lobby me as well appointed and comfortable. Kimpton needs to get their groove back. Don't think I will be staying at this one again.

Yelp
Great location. Very nice property. Most importantly the staff is beyond helpful. From the front desk to the concierge and the valets . Shout out to Leanne Shayla Ken Sam. Thanks for making the the stay wonderful. The bar/ restaurant is also very good and fair priced. Thanks

Yelp
Called the hotel about a hour before our arrival to see if we'd be able to check in early (11am) and the staff was able to accommodate our early checkin despite it being pride weekend! Pros: Room was spacious and beds were comfortable. Staff was nice throughout our stay. There's also a peloton bike in the gym, but I never had a chance to use it. Close proximity to pike place and train station Cons: room didn't have full length mirrors, door chain/secondary lock, and only came with 2 towels even though our reservation listed 4 people. The lobby was often out of water and coffee.

Yelp
HIDDEN FEES. Ok, so there are always going to be extra taxes and fees than you expect. But in this case, a $300/nt rate ended up at $500/nt after taxes and fees. That just doesn't sound right. Worst was the $75/nt "resort fee." There is no resort!! No pool, no lounge. Typical hotel gym. PLUS, despite these fees, NO HOUSECLEANING. Part of the upside of any decent hotel is coming home to a room with a freshly made bed, fresh towels, etc. NOPE. Their only explanation is that they are short staffed due to the pandemic. Ok -- so hire more people! Or ... don't charge $500/nt!! Other reviewers mentioned the nice on-site restaurant. Well, that was closed off for a private event. Ok, that happens. But then the coffee urns were also empty. Two days in a row. I'll still give two stars, as the staff were decent (they seemed embarrassed and apologetic), and the location is convenient. But really, overall, I was shocked at what we got (or didn't get) for $500/nt. Maybe we just picked a bad time to visit (it was a four-night stay), but watch out for those fees!!

Yelp
The management here is terrible. The front desk manager Alejandra talks often about how she hates people and she makes fun of every guest she sees. I heard her make fun of disabled guests as well as employees with disabilities she has called stupid. The entire company is chaotic. The employees save your credit card information illegally. Half the staff is on drugs or drunk during their shifts. This place is way over priced for what you're getting. You will have a better time at a motel 6. You will probably get stuff stolen from your vehicle and pay for the valet, as well as you may have stuff stolen from you room. Check your credit card statements they will bill you for extra things you aren't aware of. If you have never been here then you're not missing anything great.

Yelp
We were able to check in when we got here early as a room was ready and available. Much appreciated. Hotel is nice, room was nice just definitely a smaller room which was fine for the night we were there and it had a desk for my husband to work from. No surprises as the room we booked online didn't make us think it would be enormous. We were never able to connect to internet and there was no coffee pot in our room, we had to call and have them bring one up. Location of the hotel was great since we had no car and were walking. If this is what a boutique hotel is I am not fan and won't stay at a Kimpton again, especially this one. However friendly and clean it was, for the price it was not worth it not to mention they charge a resort fee and for what I am not sure, they should pay us a resort fee for staying here and it not being a seamless stay. We got charged $25 for amenities yet no coffee in the room, wifi did not work and the room was super stuffy since no bathroom fan. Glad we paid $25 for nothing. Not to mention their website claims to have yoga mats In the rooms but ours didn't. So false claims.

Yelp
Having had excellent experiences at Kimpton hotels in the past, we went out of our way to stay at the Monaco during a recent Seattle visit. Despite a couple of high points, the overall experience was somewhat lacking. The biggest thing I hope to find in a hotel room is comfy seating - I've never been able to use a hotel bed as a place to read or to watch TV. I was initially encouraged to see a stylish sofa in our room, but a lack of both lower back support and arms made this piece of furniture unusable. My only alternative was spending my waking hours for our 48 hour stay in the desk chair. Perhaps due to Covid, this is the only hotel I can recall without a coffee maker in the room. My wife checked the options in the lobby, and they did not have a decaf (doctor's orders) option there. Another missing item was a fridge. There was an empty minibar cabinet, possibly another victim of Covid. Before our visit, I knew that we'd be staying in a part of town that was uphill from the waterfront, but upon arrival discovered that the building behind the hotel is taller, so it appears that no rooms have any kind of view to the west. While making reservations, we were pleased to find out that there was a valet parking discount for hybrid vehicles. At checkout, they initially did not apply the discount, claiming it had not been logged correctly by the valet, who was standing nearby and was unhappy to be used as a scapegoat. So, overall, the Monaco was a letdown overall for our first hotel experience in over 2 years.

Yelp
Disappointment and average service. Had been wanting to come here for a staycation for awhile. So booked a king suite for a belated Valentine's Day this past Sunday for my wife and 8 month daughter. At $270 plus $50 valet this was a very disappointing experience. Especially since have had far superior stays at a better price point at many other Seattle hotels. I have no issue with a valet fee. But when I pull up and no one comes out, so I Sherpa the bags and baby. Then when checked out no one tells me the valet won't be there but have to hunt them down and learn keys were at front desk after searched for the valet for 5 minutes again towing bags and baby it is unclear if thee Monaco knows what valet means. The room was fairly nice and was spacious and liked the curtain to separate the living space from bedroom. But the bed wasn't comfortable and the bathroom was a standard tub with a poor shower head and a look dated back to the 80s. What was really annoying is they advertise their restaurant with room service every day till 10pm. But learned not on Sundays and when called room service reroute to front desk that was fairly rude and said "we don't have room service." When have an 8 month old this is frustrating since dining at restaurants often not a real option and when booked you said you did. I had to door dash valentines dessert. Would not be an issue if they noted this when referencing they have this service as an amenity. So look elsewhere:The Paramount is better location, has room service and better beds. The W and Thompson are far superior and sadly even the Grand Hyatt was a better stay and all well under the Monaco price point

Yelp
This is my second stay at a Kimpton, which offers a boutique style hotel lineup within the IHG hotel group. Enjoyed a two-night points stay here in October 2022 and overall it was a positive experience. Pluses: friendly staff, updated interior and nice lounge area, king size room was large, convenient location to nearby Belltown, Seattle Center, and Pikes Place Market. Minuses: no welcome bonus for IHG Platinum Elite, wine happy hour was average, and said location was a bit sketchy to walk around at night. We used points for this stay but I would considering staying here again given the relative value for the price point.

Yelp
Great stay at this hotel. Conveniently located to Pike's Place Market , clean , good service . Restaurant was tasty and the staff was great . My ONLY a complaint was the coffee . it just didn't taste right (not the restaurant's but the hotel's). I strongly suggest they change their coffee vendor .

This hotel has definitely gone a bit downhill since the last time we stayed here (maybe 4-5 years ago, pre-pandemic for sure). It's a 4 star hotel apparently but really it's 3. I didn't realize how dated and run down everything is at this hotel now. They were able to accommodate a bit of an early check in for us which was nice. The room was clean. Bad water pressure and we had plenty of hot water our first night here (Friday) but struggled for it Sat/Sun. The bathroom was really small and dated, no fan or any type of air circulation in there, and no lock on the door. Cheap ass economy toilet paper. Free coffee in the lobby 5-11am but it's not quality. The on-site restaurant was empty on a Saturday night. Also how do you have a premier floor but ice located on a different one? Doesn't seem very premier to me. Multiple staff seem unhappy here. We had a convo with our bartender (who was very nice and amazing) at Outlier about how disorganized and dysfunctional the restaurant part is. When I requested for housekeeping service Saturday afternoon (since they didn't come in the AM) and the woman at the front desk gave me a ton of attitude and told me all housekeeping had already gone home for the day but they could send a maintenance guy to empty trash and give us fresh towels. She could not be bothered....don't work the front desk then! We probably won't stay here again.

Yelp
Stayed here for a long weekend just this past weekend in a double queen room. The room itself was fine for the most part with the exception of a few things. These included a broken hairdryer, a minifridge that wasn't accessible due to a cabinet door being stuck, and a standing lamp that didn't turn on. All of which ended up getting reported to the staff which I hope gets fixed for the next guests. When it comes to the positives, the best thing would definitely be the ease of convenience of getting to Pike Place Market. It is about a 12 minute walk from the hotel. Another thing that I enjoyed were the complimentary water bottles when I checked in. If you want any additional water bottles, you can ask the hotel receptionist. The hotel also offers free water, hot apple cider, coffee, and hot chocolate on the first floor. They also have free wine from a certain time period in the evening each day. Other than that, the hotel is good and I would definitely go back in the future if I visit Seattle again.

Yelp
Booked a last minute trip & needed somewhere to stay & we definitely made the right choice! Holly at the front desk was so very helpful. Beautiful hotel & great service!

Yelp
I stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco from Thursday - Sunday and it was in great location! I was able to walk to Pike Place Market within 10 minutes each day! I was also close to the Monorail that takes you directly to the Space Needle, Museum of Pop Culture, and Chihuly Garden and Glass. During my stay there was also a Sea-fair parade and marathon on the same street and I was able to watch the festivities from my window. The staff (especially Taylor) were amazing! There was nothing that I asked for that they didn't provide or accommodate me with as quickly as possible. The Outlier restaurant that is attached is also really really good! That avocado toast was to die for! Overall, if I make my way to Seattle again, I will stay here! Thanks for making my vacation memorable! P.S. Taylor deserves a raise!

Yelp
I was looking for a place to stay in Seattle, that had hopefully a central location. Since this was my first time actually visiting, I had to pick, and make sure I would hit a jackpot. I think it is safe to say this hotel fit the bill for what I was looking for. My flight came in pretty late, and I took an uber to get to the hotel. Since it was dark out, I really couldn't tell what everything looked like- I did notice though the hotel is valet only, and it is on a one way street. Also, it seems the hotel is on top of a hill (who would have known Seattle has hills that ALMOST rival SF?) that has a steep drop on one side. I went in the revolving doors, and there was the check in desk immediately to the right. There is a cozy lobby with big mirrors and if I remember correctly, I think a fireplace as well (I am not gonna lie, I was pretty drunk when I checked in, compliments of Delta). The lady who checked me in (sorry forgot name) was efficient and friendly. With my checkin/status, I got enough cards to get free breakfast/lunch for 2/3 days (I stayed from a fri-mon). I went around the corner, and went up the elevator. You do need a key card to activate the elevator (I can def appreciate that extra touch). I remember being on one of the highest floors, and that my room faced another building, so there was alley down below. My room had 2 queens (I know, I am a single traveller and I request 2 beds), and a nice variety of stuff from the mini bar. I was even greeted with a nice card and a recipe for an Irish Coffee. Needless to say, the cream and the whiskey were consumed. The bed was comfy, and for the most part, I slept well. However, I was awaken early in the morning due to the activities in the alley way (I assume trash pickup). That was kind of annoying. The bathroom was a decent size, plenty of towels and decent toiletries. No issues there. There were also yoga mats and robes available in the room. Back to the mini bar stuff- I think I emptied the dry good section in a matter of 2 days. There are even little souvenirs you can take, but for the price, I declined (hell you would think for every $50 you spend on the minibar youd get a discount, lol). They have an assortment of candies and chips as well. If you go for the beers, always check the dates- especially for the prices you pay- I ended up only buying the water from the fridge. The restaurant they have on hand, Outlier, is attached from the lobby (I think), and also has an exterior entrance. Food was alright. Expect a 5/10 minute walk to visit Pikes Place and the mall with the monorail. There is plenty of food and shopping in between. I enjoyed the stay here. Glad I was able to visit. I would probably come back here if I made another trip to Seattle.

Yelp
We stayed here for a long weekend recently. We had the King Deluxe on the 11th floor and it was fine for our needs. The view was a brick wall, which was disappointing, and the restaurant doesn't serve breakfast, which equally was disappointing but we ordered Uber eats for the next morning when neither of us could move and that was fine. The only complaint, other than the lack of room service, was the check in chick (blonde with tats) who is definitely in the wrong profession if customer service or hospitality is supposed to be her bag. Newsflash, it's not. Hotel was clean, bed was comfy, majority of the staff was cool. The location was great. A few blocks from everything and the W Bar across the street did us in one night. See above regarding Uber eats. Ha!

Yelp
This hotel has potential but it is so lackluster. The price is expensive for what you get with them. $400 a night? I would expect much better amenities. The resort fee is charged per night, but for what? The only parking they had is valet parking and that is not even covered. The service is okay, Taylor was really nice but I just feel like I got nothing out of my stay at Kimpton. There is no pool, the bar/restaurant was closed when we got there so we could not even enjoy that. Overall, not staying here again. Just felt like a complete waste of money. I can get so much more in other major cities for what I paid here. Take off the resort fee - what are we getting with that?

Yelp
Not sure I would really recommend this place overall. For the price we paid, we definitely expected a little better. This hotel wasn't terrible by any means as the hotel staff was kind and helpful and the location was very good. You can walk to the public market in less than 10 minutes and there are many things to do within a very short walk of this spot! A few things to note though is that the rooms are outdated and our room in particular was not cleaned very well as there was hair in the shower and some dirt in the bathroom. We noticed that a lot of the furniture had paint peeling off of it. There is also no daily room cleaning service due to covid supposedly which we thought was a little odd since previous hotels we have stayed in recently have gotten past that. You can still get cleaning upon request though (just have to remember to actually call).

Yelp
Faye at the front desk was truly disengaged, egregiously rude, beyond unhelpful and utterly unprofessional. We have never interacted with a person in the hospitality industry with such little care towards guest services and happiness. Beyond Faye's grotesque personality, the front desk made us move rooms due to the Un-Fantastic Faye's error in room assignment and offered no assistance in moving bags.

Yelp
Ive stayed here multiple times and will be taking a break. Services have deteriorated. My room wasn't cleaned. The coffee pots are gone in rooms. The front desk is not trained. Example of the latter. I called for my car, gave the front desk my number. Went downstairs-30 minutes and no car. The front desk didn't inform the valet. To make it worse the manager, who did apologize, blamed it on the phone system. Others were having the same problem. At the end of the pandemic service is being impacted. I understand that but this place has some real issues that need to be resolved.

Yelp
We have stayed here a few times over the years and we enjoy the evening wine hour; the location is perfect; the valet is fast; the staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms we've had are very comfortable and spacious. In the past you could request a goldfish for your room which was actually pretty entertaining but they no longer do that. As a tip, if you are an Elite member and you call and inquire about the likelihood of an upgrade they might just upgrade you on the spot.

Yelp
I've always been a fan of the IHG Kimpton boutique hotels. On my last trip to Seattle, I decided to book a stay at the Hotel Monaco located on 4th St. The positives: Location was good. It was located in a central part of downtown Seattle and was within walking distance and a short Uber ride to all the attractions we wanted to see. Was able to check into our room earlier and drop bags off. Rooms were decent. Not the greatest, but a place to sleep at night. The negatives: Room are definitely on the older side and have been renovated. The bathroom facets had rust on it, and given towels with lots of stains. Had to remind staff of our requests many times, and had to wait upwards of 1 to 2 hours for towels and toilteries. Very apparent staff was not trained. Right after booking my stay (prior to check-in), I had called and emailed the conceirge to let them know I would like to note my reservations as a chain stay. They told me not to worry and they would take care of it. Of course, when I arrived, they had forgotten and this made the check-in process slow. Was told at check-in I was was given $10 a day ($20 total) of bodega credit and $15 a day ($30 total) of food & beverage credit to redeem at Shaker + Spear (restaurant at the Kimpton Palladian). The receptionist at check-in told told me I would charge my room for the bodega items and they will be creditted at check-out. To redeem the restaurant credit I was told to charge to my personal card, keep the receipt, and they will take care of it at check-out. Just to make sure, I went back down to the front desk to confirm. Receptionist at check-in forget to give me bodega vouchers, so I was able to get those from him before purchasing any items. He also reconfirmed how to redeem Shaker + Spear credit so I went ahead and made reservations at the restaurant and paid with my personal card. Now when it came time to check-out that's were all the snafus occurred. At check-out, staff were refusing to take my bodega credit vouchers and my Shaker + Spear dinner could not be covered by the food & beverage credit. I had to fight them on this saying at check-in and throughout my stay, I had tripled checked to make sure these credits could be applied during my stay. A check-out process that should've taken 5-10 minutes ended up taking 45 minutes. I almost missed my ride to the aiport! At the end, they were able to apply credits to my bodega purchases, but only was able to reimburse me for $15 for my dinner at Shaker + Spear. Essentially, I was robbed $15... One star for being a place to lay my head down at night and another star for being decently clean. In conclusion, I would not stay at this hotel again. I have been to my fair share of Kimpton hotels, and the Hotel Monaco was everything, but an upscale boutique stay. I would've been better off saving my money and staying at a lower-end IHG property.

Yelp
I scored a pretty sweet last minute deal here during my visit to Seattle last year. Here I am finally writing about my visit.... haha. This was precovid days, so not sure what has changed since then. Anywho, I had never stayed in a Kimpton before, so I didn't know quite what to expect. This particular hotel is conveniently located and is within walking distance to public transportation, restaurants, and major attractions in downtown Seattle like the aquarium, Pike Place Market, etc. I also felt very safe which was top of mind for me as I was traveling by myself. Check-in was easy despite arriving early and the staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions that I had. Once I got to my room, I was quite surprised. I've never seen such quirky, brightly colored decor. However, it was well done and wasn't tacky at all. My room was also HUGE for one person which I loved. The views weren't great (you can see across the way to the neighboring building), but I didn't mind as I wasn't staying long and planned to be out and about most of the time. The bed was very comfortable and I even took the time to enjoy a very long soak in the tub. They provided ample amenities and you could call the front desk for other needs and they bring it to your door. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would stay here again. It's a nice, upscale hotel, and all the staff were really really friendly which still stands out in my mind today. Really good customer service!

Yelp
I felt like I had to update my review after my most recent experience at the Monaco. From start to finish, it was a great experience, truly what I have come to expect from Kimpton. I received an amazing room (which may have been an upgrade, but I don't know), and it was quiet, clean, and very comfortable. I brought my portable noise speaker this time, but I honestly didn't even need it. If I had to note any hiccup, it would be that I didn't get a new room service tag for breakfast after I used my first one, but honestly.. minor complaint! Kimpton continues to wow me, which might be why I am Platinum now. I know I can always expect greatness from them, and Monaco completely keeps the trend going!

Yelp
Tonight I witnessed a horrible situation. While attempting to check in there was a family of 6 in front of me. Although having 2 rooms and plenty of beds for all of them, they decided it would be a better idea to berate and abuse the hotel staff that was attempting to assist them. It was clear they were attempting to create a problem in an attempt to gain some favorable treatment (I.e. free rooms). They wanted 1 room with two beds, and 1 room with a king. Having a large family myself, you make do. The hotel went out of their way to make sure they had larger rooms and enough bed space for the entire family. The entire matter was absolutely ridiculous: the staff was extremely patient and polite. The staff should be recognized to going above and beyond in this very difficult situation. The mother was even attempting to stage photographs of her children to post on social media. The kids were perfectly fine but she wanted it to look like the event had caused them great harm.

Yelp
Decent overall stay at one of my favorite hotel chains. While check in was overall smooth, some things did catch my attention: (1) the restaurant and bar were closed for the days we were there (no breakfast unfortunately), (2) the "just chilling" bonuses were pretty weak in comparison to some other Kimptons I've been to, and (3) no bonus or anything for being a Spire member. The wine social hour was wonderful with a great selection of wines and beers. Our room was fantastic as well. Monte Carlo suite is nothing to scoff at. Unfortunately, even as Spire, it was difficult to get past a 2 pm PT checkout. Decent stay overall, but was hoping for a bit more.

Yelp
This place is perfectly situated in the heart of downtown. They go above and beyond for their customers! We arrived and from the beginning we were treated like royalty. They took our car, helped us with our belongings and made sure we had everything we needed. The room was basic but comfortable. The view isn't great though (faces a nearby building) but that's okay! I think you get options and we chose the cheapest one (you can view the Sound or city I'm sure). Unfortunately we didn't get to try Outlier because there were holiday party events going on or we had plans for meals outside the hotel. If you're reading this, please try Outlier! Not only is the chef Filipino (which is what I am) or at least half, and he grew up in San Diego (which is where I'm from). A lot of the dishes there have Filipino fusion in them which is super cool. A few weeks before my trip, I had called to reserve a Pack n Play for my baby and microwave to be in our room waiting. When we arrived, neither were in there but they were able to get both within the hour. We also got to borrow a water kettle which was much needed for my baby's bottles and my tea. =) There are plenty of stores and restaurants nearby. This hotel is in the heart of everything! There's Bartell's a couple blocks down for most of your needs, the Lodge restaurant across the street that has bomb Brussels sprouts and burgers.. plenty of bus stops, near the Metro stations.. near the mall/shopping, Pike Place Market, etc etc! I'd highly recommend this hotel!

Yelp
The checkin process was rather smooth and desk staff were rather friendly and prompt. Sadly, we didn't spend the night in this hotel due to bedbugs! As we were getting ready for bed, we noticed one crawl (rather quickly) across the bed. We promptly called the front desk who collected the bedbug. Upon discussion with them they said this was the first living one they had seen. We left our pajamas there and discarded the rest of the belongings. We were told they would follow up with us, but never heard anything back. Severely disappointed!

John C.

Yelp
The rooms are okay, this was a business trip so didn't need to be amazing. But there's no housekeeping (not even fresh towels or trash removal without asking), and the restaurant is only open 3 days a week. Front desk staff seemed somewhat embarrassed when asked about this. So with all that said, I'm not actually sure if this still qualifies as a hotel? Definitely be better off staying in an Airbnb.

Yelp
After returning from the cruise, my boyfriend and I stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco in Downtown Seattle. Shortly after docking at Pier 91, I headed to the hotel. Shout outs to Anthony V. for a smooth early check-in around 9am. He provided us with a set of room keys and water bottles and informed us about breakfast at Outliers (from 7am-10am Wed to Sun), social hour daily from 5-6pm with beer and wine tastings, and 24-hour gym downstairs. I liked how room keys were required to access the elevators and that there was an express elevator to access 9, 10, and 11 floors. Our room (#918) was clean, had a super comfy bed, and had a spacious bathroom with fragrant shampoo, conditioner, and body wash pumps in the shower for easy access. It was nice that the room had a refrigerator to hold our leftovers. It was rough the first night because we didn't expect late night construction to be happening outside of our window.

Yelp
You can always count on a Kimpton Hotel to treat you well in a cool, hip atmosphere. Kimpton Hotel Monaco is no exception to the rule. The rooms were spacious and beautiful, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the location in downtown Seattle was fantastic. Double kudos for the complimentary happy hour with good wines and live music! I absolutely loved my stay here, and will 100% be back the next time I find myself in the city :)

Yelp
What a great experience. From the fat before when I called with some questions before our arrival Gene was amazing and informative. On arrival both Collin and Gene were fantastic great attitudes and very helpful. All the staff was great our entire stay. The hotel is nice, beds were sooo comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you to all the Kimpton Monoco Seattle Staff!!!

Yelp
I enjoyed staying at this hotel. It's conveniently located near all the popular attractions in downtown Seattle as well as all the great food and drink spots. I would recommend anyone visiting to stay here.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my stay at Kimpton Monaco in the late 2000s, so it felt special to return here with my husband on our first vacation in almost two years. When we arrived, we got to check in a bit early (woot). Then everything went downhill. Moments after we got into our room, my husband noticed the missing TV remote (ha). The AC wasn't working, either. On the plus side, the maintenance person came quickly to check on the AC, and a new remote was provided. The bad news - AC was kaput, so we were switched to a different room. Naturally I'd already unpacked all my stuff - so my husband and I spent close to 45 minutes scooping up our things to move to another floor. Minutes after settling into our new room, we noticed the mini fridge - though plugged in - wasn't working. The maintenance person returned and it was fixed (not sure what the problem was, but again - kind of a bummer to have so many issues within 24 hours of our 2 night stay). But the worst moment came after a full day of Seattle sight seeing when we returned to an unmade bed and wet, used towels still on the floor. So much for a hot shower. Apparently -another Covid measure - we were supposed to REQUEST room service in advance. Fortunately, new towels were delivered fairly quickly, but on top of the other issues, at this point, we were looking forward to leaving. Kudos to the staff for generally being pleasant toward us through it all, but going forward, PLEASE make sure guests are fully aware of policies - perhaps include written notices as well. Please ensure thorough room checks prior to guests' arrival. And please consider complimentary upgrades (if available) or future room credits to inconvenienced guests.
