I was a little hesitant to stay here after reading some of these reviews, but I have to say I did not feel negatively about this hotel at all! I thought the rooms were clean, comfy, and even rather large considering its historic nature. I was given an upgrade so other rooms might be smaller. My room, again an upgraded room, had plenty of light (in fact, I had trouble closing all the curtains in the room, there were so many windows! 😂 ).||Several reviews said the rooms were “dirty,” but I found my room to be extremely clean. This may be because they don’t clean the rooms every day, which I found to be an odd policy post-COVID, but if you ask them to and give them a time when you’ll be out, they will. The carpet is also gray, which goes with the esthetic, but I can see how that might look "dirty" to some people. There also seemed to be little to no attention paid to one of the elevators being down, which did cause problems when everybody was coming and going at the same time. I had to wait at least 5 minutes for the elevator to come down… and this was at 10:00 at night! I can’t imagine how slow they are during prime check in/check out times. Get that elevator fixed!||Now to the neighborhood. I found Hotel Vintage very well-located, and within walking distance of most of the tourist attractions. It’s also a short train ride from the airport.. only three bucks! It’s $50 if you take a cab. There’s lots of shopping and dining nearby, and even though Pike Place Market has a “tourist trap” vibe, there are some good places to eat there (there’s a French Bistro which was very good, and a tea and crumpets place that was great for a light breakfast! And don’t forget the original Starbucks!) It’s also very near Symphony Hall. I was able to catch a concert one night.||I will say, and this is obviously no fault of the hotel, Seattle closes down quite early, especially on the weekdays (around 9:00), and once most places are closed it’s kind of creepy walking at night. There are bums and mentally ill people just shouting obscenities, and there are very few (If any) cops in some areas. ||Several people mentioned they had to “walk uphill” to get to the hotel. I did too, but this is Seattle! I’ve never been to a city where it really does feel like you’re “Walking uphill both ways,” but unless your hotel is parallel to one of these many hills, you just can’t avoid it. Think of it as exercising your glutes, or prepping for all the hiking you’ll be doing on your Alaska cruise!||Overall, I really liked my stay at Hotel Vintage. It’s definitely “old school boutique,” and not for everyone (if you want a very luxe experience I’m sure Hotel Monaco can provide that). The hotel is well located and the people are very nice. I would definitely stay here again, provided there are two working elevators!
