Kimpton Hotels Launch Book Lending Program for Guests - AFAR

"This hotel participates in the Kimpton x Lit Hub book-lending program: guests can borrow Lit Hub–selected titles by asking at the front desk, consult seasonal curated reading lists (the spring selection spotlights books written by women for Women’s History Month), and take part in virtual Q&As and readings with authors and publishers. Guests can also access Lit Hub’s Literary Long Weekend itineraries—curated bookstore and library stops, dining recommendations, and activity suggestions—by asking at check-in, and Kimpton and Lit Hub publish each season’s selections and interview links on their social channels. This hotel epitomises my confusion about the US hotel star categorisation system. It boggles my mind that this hotel has the same four star ranking as the next door Fairmont. ||What you will get at this hotel:||- Expensive rooms ($250/nightly)|- One of two lifts being broken|- A tiny lobby accessed through a parking garage (the lobby photo by management should win an award for its creative portrayal of what is essentially a doctor’s waiting room)|- ‘Free’ morning coffee and wine for an hour in the afternoon (a nice touch admittedly)|- Grubby, tired rooms that aren’t cleaned properly|- Bathrooms that were last renovated in the 70s with prison style soap / shampoo dispensers and gross shower curtains |- Fairly decent location walkable to all the main sights |- Very helpful, polite and personable Reception staff. We dealt with three different staff members and found each of them truly engaged and helpful across a variety of tasks (early check in, printing documents, helping with questions). I feel they’re really let down by the hard product of the hotel. ||What you won’t get at this hotel:||- Daily housekeeping unless you specifically ask. An outrageous system given the notional four star rating and high prices|- A truly clean room. Everything other than the bedding and towels was grubby, stained or dusty. |- What anyone could reasonably describe as a fitness centre. It’s a prison cell accessible through the underground car park. ||Would I stay here again? No.

Classic old school decor and style. The wine tasting in the lobby is free, and they give very generous pours. Mia at the front desk is an angel! So sweet, accommodating, and very professional, yet not overly uptight or stiff. Very personable, knowledgeable, and a delight to chat with. The queen room isn't huge, but it's adequate. The TV isn't mounted, so it's positioned relatively far from the bed, but it's not a significant issue—tile in the bathroom, with some lovely soaps. The bed was pretty comfortable with above-average bedding. I had a pleasant stay.

Booked a room for our last night in Seattle after our cruise. We got here early in the morning and knowing our room wasn’t ready for check in they accommodated us and our baggage until we could check in. Manny at the front desk was very nice and Gary was helpful with our bags! Very nice staff working here and the accommodations were remarkable! Excellent rooms here too, very comfy, clean and you feel right at home! From 5-6 they hosted a social hour with free snacks and wine which was nice to sit by the fireplace and enjoy! Ms. Glass was very friendly who hosted this and served us wine! The restaurant next door was convenient and they even continued to serve us in the lobby after dinner while we socialized and had a couple drinks. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to stay in town and there is a lot conveniently located within walking distance of the hotel!

I was a little hesitant to stay here after reading some of these reviews, but I have to say I did not feel negatively about this hotel at all! I thought the rooms were clean, comfy, and even rather large considering its historic nature. I was given an upgrade so other rooms might be smaller. My room, again an upgraded room, had plenty of light (in fact, I had trouble closing all the curtains in the room, there were so many windows! 😂 ).||Several reviews said the rooms were “dirty,” but I found my room to be extremely clean. This may be because they don’t clean the rooms every day, which I found to be an odd policy post-COVID, but if you ask them to and give them a time when you’ll be out, they will. The carpet is also gray, which goes with the esthetic, but I can see how that might look "dirty" to some people. There also seemed to be little to no attention paid to one of the elevators being down, which did cause problems when everybody was coming and going at the same time. I had to wait at least 5 minutes for the elevator to come down… and this was at 10:00 at night! I can’t imagine how slow they are during prime check in/check out times. Get that elevator fixed!||Now to the neighborhood. I found Hotel Vintage very well-located, and within walking distance of most of the tourist attractions. It’s also a short train ride from the airport.. only three bucks! It’s $50 if you take a cab. There’s lots of shopping and dining nearby, and even though Pike Place Market has a “tourist trap” vibe, there are some good places to eat there (there’s a French Bistro which was very good, and a tea and crumpets place that was great for a light breakfast! And don’t forget the original Starbucks!) It’s also very near Symphony Hall. I was able to catch a concert one night.||I will say, and this is obviously no fault of the hotel, Seattle closes down quite early, especially on the weekdays (around 9:00), and once most places are closed it’s kind of creepy walking at night. There are bums and mentally ill people just shouting obscenities, and there are very few (If any) cops in some areas. ||Several people mentioned they had to “walk uphill” to get to the hotel. I did too, but this is Seattle! I’ve never been to a city where it really does feel like you’re “Walking uphill both ways,” but unless your hotel is parallel to one of these many hills, you just can’t avoid it. Think of it as exercising your glutes, or prepping for all the hiking you’ll be doing on your Alaska cruise!||Overall, I really liked my stay at Hotel Vintage. It’s definitely “old school boutique,” and not for everyone (if you want a very luxe experience I’m sure Hotel Monaco can provide that). The hotel is well located and the people are very nice. I would definitely stay here again, provided there are two working elevators!

This hotel was fine for a one night stay. While not in the actual heart of Downtown Seattle, it was easy enough to walk from here to the Symphony light rail station and Paramount Theatre (which I did), and would be convenient to other Seattle destinations as well.||My room--a 1 King Premium City View--was spacious, with plenty of space to sit and relax. The bed was comfortable, and I slept well, in spite of my third floor room being somewhat noisy from the traffic below. If I had one complaint about the accommodations, it would be the bathroom, which felt in need of a refresh. The vanity and sink were fine, but the shower felt dated and lacked the features and functionality I would expect from a hotel like this.||I used an IHG free night certificate for this stay, which was a deciding factor in choosing this hotel. Even though the room was covered by the certificate, I still had to pay an amenity fee, which went to waste because I wasn't there long enough to partake in any of the hotel's perks. I would stay here again, but I would consider other options next time as well.

We had an absolutely delightful stay! I attribute that mostly to Manny! He was so knowledgeable and friendly, and he made us feel right at home. It's not often I feel this comfortable at a hotel, and the Kimpton definitely did just that! The restaurant was also a huge hit! It was a bit pricey, but for a special occasion or anniversary it's perfect! So much AMAZING food...and great ambiance 5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️hands down!

Stayed here two nights before a cruise. Quaint hotel walking distance to Pike Market and the waterfront area as well as the monorail station out to the Space Needle. The beds are super comfortable! The Staff is also outstanding. Had an issue regarding the room, and went down to the front desk to request a different room and I was moved to a different room immediately. Onsite restaurant staff was also excellent (I purchased the room rate that included breakfast.) Be aware there are no coffee machines in the rooms, though there is coffee available in the lobby in the mornings. Also, hotel is in an old historic building and the elevator is super loud, you can actually hear it in the room at times

I recently stayed at this hotel from June 25 to June 29, 2025, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. As someone who travels frequently for work, staying in hotels is a routine part of my life, but this particular stay was riddled with issues that left me frustrated and disappointed. Check-In Process: The check-in process was one of the worst I’ve experienced. Prior to my arrival, I called the hotel to inform them that I would be delayed leaving Portland due to client meetings, and that a friend would be checking in on my behalf. I was reassured that everything would be handled smoothly and that there would be no issues. However, upon my friend’s arrival, they were denied check-in. I had to make multiple calls and go back and forth with client services to explain the situation. The lack of communication and follow-through was frustrating and left a bad first impression. Maintenance Issues: During our stay, we encountered a couple of maintenance problems that were not promptly addressed. The sink in our room backed up, which was inconvenient, and the refrigerator broke down. It took a significant amount of time before maintenance arrived to fix the issues, which added to the overall dissatisfaction with the stay. When you’re paying for a premium experience, the last thing you want is to deal with such basic room maintenance issues. Parking Charges: We only had a car parked for one night, but inexplicably, we were charged for overnight parking for the entire duration of our stay. This discrepancy in billing was another headache I had to address, which could have easily been avoided with proper attention to detail. Concierge Service: Perhaps the most disheartening aspect of this experience was the service provided by the concierge, Ashley. As someone who travels frequently for work and stays in many hotels across the Midwest and East Coast, I can confidently say that Ashley's level of service was the worst I’ve encountered. She was unhelpful, unprofessional, and made the already frustrating situation even worse. Her attitude and lack of willingness to assist with even the simplest requests left a lasting negative impression on me. Conclusion: Based on my experience, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. From the poor check-in process to the maintenance issues, parking discrepancies, and appalling concierge service, this stay was far from the standard I’ve come to expect from hotels in this price range. I will certainly be seeking other options for future stays and will not be returning to this location.

Yelp
Our home away from home for the next two days ! Manny checked us in with speed and professionalism. Answered all our questions and smiled the entire time. Building clean and clear of clutter. It has a vintage or aged look . Fireplace sets the room for great ambiance. Elite restaurant attached for dining experience. Nice wine collection . Parking has a fee (fyi) Rooms and hallways were clean . Staff was friendly in passing. My room had a great city view. Very spacious. Bed comfortable. Refrigerator is in room . You can walk to pike market and surrounding areas but we Ubered the majority of the time and walked when we could. Tip: if you have bad legs, feet or back I suggest not walking. It's alot of steep hills which means incline is worst coming up. 18 min to the airport. Great stay !

Yelp
I spent one night at this hotel, and it was a nice enough experience. The hotel is convenient to (though quite uphill from) the Symphony light rail station and is an easy walk from other downtown locations, including the Paramount Theatre. My stay was so short that I didn't get to experience much of the hotel, but the front desk staff at check-in and check-out were friendly and pleasant, and I felt welcomed. My room was on the third floor and was exposed to a lot of traffic noise, though thankfully this died down at night and did not disturb my sleep. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, but the bathroom is in need of an update, with outdated shower fixtures and an overall lack of polish that you would expect of a hotel of this level. My stay here was fine, and I'd stay here again--though I may consider other options next time, especially since I paid an amenity fee that I didn't make use of at all.

Yelp
Kimpton Hotel Vintage is in the heart of downtown within walking distance to Pikes Market and the Landing that has all kinds of things to see and do. It's a very pretty hotel with a restaurant inside of the hotel and with my stay we were given a 10 dollar a day voucher to use at the restaurant or for snacks that the hotel offer, they also have free wine from 5 to 6pm. We had the city view and although the room was pretty I myself would not get the city view again, we heard cars honking and engines roaring and saw headlights all night. I will say it's a good location and pretty.

Yelp
I love a Kimpton when I travel. And this one is mostly conveniently located to Lumen Field, if you want to walk to and from an event. I say "mostly" because there's a wicked hill on the way back The view from the 11th floor was beautiful. The king room was large, with a plush purple velvet sofa. I would love it if the bathroom was more well lit, but it's a great size. After enjoying a night of music and walking back, the bed felt exceedingly good! I greatly appreciate that the alarm clock light can be turned off. Valet service was quick and friendly, even though the line coming in must have been a bit overwhelming. Can't wait to stay here again!

Yelp
Water problems. . . Cold ?(cold!) water only floors 7+. When I called the desk they first tried to pass it off then offered to move me. Although it was late and I was about to go to bed I packed up and relocated to a second floor room. Not a quick change and so it was later than I hoped going to bed. In the morning I find the water there, while not cold, is just luke-warm. Very noisy room, thermostat (or perhaps the entire HVAC) not working either. The upside, the room was kind of clean (?) but Spartan, to be sure.

Yelp
We stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Vintage Seattle in November for a 5 night stay. Our experience was mostly quite enjoyable, minus 3 very specific issues that seem to be common complaints among prior guests. Room: - Nicely appointed room on the 7th floor. The interior decor is different than your standard hotel room and we all liked it. Issue #1: The bathroom was tiny. Like have to close the door and step over the toilet to get into the shower tiny. If you have two grown adults who plan on getting ready at the same time in the morning, you're going to be bumping elblows. Issue #2: The mini fridge is abysmal. It does a very poor job of cooling anything. The hotel says they will offer to store things for you in a refrigerator by the front desk, but then what's the point of having a mini fridge in your room? Who wants to go downstairs in the middle of the night to get a cold water? Service: - The staff were all very helpful. No complaints whatsoever. Other: Issue #3: The $26 (+ tax!!!) daily guest amenities fee is total bullshit. It's such a cash grab. Just charge $26 more per night. You get nothing of real value: - $10 credit to hotel's "bodega"? The bodega is literally an Ikea bookshelf behind the front desk with a random assortment of overpriced junk food and alcohol. - Access to the fitness center? Why wouldn't this be free anyways? - Complimentary Vintage postcard and postage? Thanks for the 73 cents of value.

Yelp
Found out the hard way that all Kimptons are not the same. After an amazing stay at the Kimpton Sawyer in Sacramento, Ca I was super excited to stay at another Kimpton during my stay in Seattle. Sadly, the Kimpton Vintage was not even in the same league. Upon check in, there was no rose', which was okay but was expected since I received it at the last Kimpton. Instead what I got was a list of things that were wrong with the hotel. First, I was advised that one of the elevators was broke. I was then advised that the restaurant would be closed for lunch and dinner during my stay which meant no room service. I was also advised that there is no pool and was not offered a plant for the room like I had been offered at the other Kimpton. Although the room was decent it was definitely nothing special and seemed outdated. Although the room did include two complementary bottles of water, there was no mini bar and no in room coffee maker. Additionally, the bathroom was tiny, outdated and underwhelming. Overall, I was super disappointed with my stay. Having stayed at other Kimpton Hotels in the past I have to say that this one did not meet expectations. There are other hotel options in the area so I will not stay here in the future. Very disappointing

Yelp
I took a little solo-cation to Seattle, Washington over Veteran's Day weekend 2023 and booked a two night stay in a premium room at this Kimpton using IHG points. My 9th floor room (Maghee) was fantastic - really large with a sofa bed, desk, and king size comfortable bed. I believe the "vintage" in the name is on par with the wine theme throughout the restaurant. I have stayed at about half dozen Kimptons now and am a Platinum IHG member. Unfortunately it was this particular hotel as a whole that left much to be desired. Upon checkin and throughout my stay, I found the front desk employees to be less than welcoming. The lobby area was so, so, so small and the coffee ran out in the mornings yet the employee took her sweet time refilling it. The "gym" was the size of a closet and, what I was most looking forward to - the plant pal program - was done with zero enthusiasm by the employees. In terms of dining options, Tulio is an Italian restaurant attached to the hotel. I narrowly got the sweet potato gnocchi to go one afternoon moments before they closed. Speaking of Tulio, when I asked the front desk where the postcards were (a postcard writing station is a staple at many of the Kimptons I've stayed at), they gave me a Tulio postcard... so disappointing. Decent location and yes of course they do the happy hour in the small lobby nightly at 5pm. I did not attend but I did pass through one night on my way to dinner and it was packed to say the least. Whenever I return to Seattle I will look into staying at the other Kimptons in the area or return to the Fairmont. There are plenty of nice hotels in this area with larger lobby spaces and better amenities.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here on 2/15-2/16 to continue enjoying Valentine's Day through the weekend. The hotel was cute and clean, offering free stays for pets including providing a dog bed, toys, and pet bowls. They also offer a wine reception or wine happy hour where guests can enjoy free wine and snacks. During check-in, I informed the person at the front desk that I am a member of their rewards program. Members can have free late check-out based on availability. I wasn't able to link my rewards account to my stay because I booked through a third-party site. This was no trouble and the person at the front desk said they would add the 2pm check-out to my reservation. In the elevator on the way up to our room, another guest noticed our dog and mentioned how nice the dog bed, toys, and pet bowls are for guests with dogs. These free amenities were not offered to us, but a dog bed was sent to our room when I called to request one. My husband and I returned to our room around 12:30 pm on check-out day to find that our keys no longer worked to access our room. We went to the front desk and I explained that we were supposed to have a 2pm check-out but our keys weren't working. The front desk attendant asked me if I had the cards re-keyed. I didn't know what that meant and informed her that I arranged for late check-out during check-in. She asked to see our cards and re-keyed mine and then handed it back to me and said "You are all good". I thanked her and was met with silence. During the entire exchange, she did not make eye contact, smile, or treat us kindly. It felt like she was angry with us that our keys hadn't been re-keyed properly. When we got to our room after the re-keying, I realized I needed utensils for my lunch. I was uncomfortable with interacting with the front desk clerk again so my husband volunteered to go. When he returned with the utensils he mentioned how friendly and helpful she was to him. I assumed I was misreading her body language. During check-out, I approached the front desk clerk to turn in our keys and receive the final bill. She was right back to being unfriendly and doing the absolute minimum. It truly felt as if she was angry with me and I have no idea what would have triggered her to treat me so poorly. I am black and my husband is white, and I am left feeling as though this particular employee did not want to provide service to a black woman. I also don't know why the dog amenities were not offered to us.

Yelp
Chose the hotel based on reviews and locations to a few key areas in Seattle. We only stayed one night as we had a cruise booked the next day. You can walk to several locations from here, but ride sharing helped when we were too tired for the hills. The room was nice and the front desk was fun to talk to and checked us in quickly. The valet was helpful also in arranging a car to take us to pier 91 the next morning for our Princess cruise. The restaurant in the same building was ok - I'll try to review that separately. We missed the free beer and wine tasting as we were out seeking dinner at that time. Oh well! The only negative I can say is that my partner was sick the next morning and went downstairs asking the front desk for anything that would help her feel better. Carbonized drinks or medication...or even an banana. She was told briskly that they didn't have anything by who ever was behind the desk at that time. I went down later to walk across the street and see if a small grocery store was open yet (it was not), and asked the same question. A different person was there and she was extremely helpful. Not only did they have a soda, they had Benadryl and even tonic water... that is exactly what she needed. All of this was right in view behind the desk. My partner was too out of it and didn't see it. Also, a nice touch is that every room is named after a winery from the state. Loved the cork artwork on the wall in the room too.

Yelp
Staff exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional. Historic hotel is exquisite. The architectural integrity of the common areas was respectfully preserved. The rooms gently updated, retaining as many historical features as reasonable.

Yelp
We stayed a night her over St. Patricks day weekend. I am torn on how to rate this . Basically it wasn't bad. If we were asked to stay again we would but I don't know if I would 100% choose to stay here again. The parking/valet is nice and well worth the $60. That was probably the highlight of the hotel. We ended up receiving a $30 amenities fee which wasn't explained when booking. It is nice they gave us $10 in credit but we learned from friends who stayed the same weekend elsewhere that they received the full $30 in credits. The lobby is TINY! We were on the 10th floor. It was warm in the room due to the sun but the windows don't even crack. There was no coffee maker in the room either. We went out for dinner and passed the social hour and it seemed decent but its tight quarters. In the morning I had to get dressed, go down stairs and get coffee. They are small cups which just meant if you wanted another cup you would have to go back down. This was a tad annoying. We were checking out that day and an hour and a half before check out they tried to come in and clean our room. House keeping knocked on the door multiple times as we were trying to get dressed to get there. Seemed odd to me. When I went to get coffee at 8:30 ish I asked if the Tulio, the restaurant in the hotel did to go orders and if they were open. She said yes to both and that they would actually bring it to the room. So about 15 minutes later I called down and they answered. I was told they weren't open and wouldn't be for 15 minutes. SO I called back 25 minutes later twice for them not to answer both times so I gave up. It is a decent location, nice building but leaves something to be desired.

Yelp
Booked a room directly from their website and they told me the day of my reservation that the room type wasn't available due to it being oversold or some scheduling error. The offers to help resolve this were additional costs to me which seems not right. Super disappointed

Yelp
We were treated like family. The concierge team of Gary and Mike made sure that we wanted for nothing. A hand written card from Lynn welcomed us to Seattle and the service and food in the restaurant were exceptional.

Yelp
Beautiful boutique hotel! Lots of amenities, including a cocktail/ app hour in the lobby each evening with live music. Lightly fragrant candles burning in the warmly lit lobby. Front desk staff is very friendly and accommodating. Enjoy your cozy room with the provided robe after a day of touring or working in Seattle. Very clean, room service was quick and reasonable from the attached Tulios (Italian restaurant) I sent some dry cleaning out at 8 am, and it was delivered to my room by 8 pm - 26 dollars for 2 ladies blouses. Reasonable considering the quick turnaround time. Looking forward to staying here again.

Yelp
I've never stayed at this hotel, but my partner has. I may add more after his stay is complete, but for now....I called the day before his check-in to request that the front desk provide him with a plant pal and an IPA beer in his room on his arrival. When I called, the front desk receptionist informed me that if it was his birthday, they could also include a celebratory goodies. I let her know that although his birthday was 3 days after he checked out, I wasn't able to be with him on his birthday and that anything they could gift would be appreciated. Upon his arrival he found "Fern" to greet him, munchies to satiate his travel cravings and 2 cans of the exact beer I requested. His hectic work trip now has some joy and festivity! I'm SO pleased with how much attention to detail they displayed. PLEASE spread the word about the plant program that they launched this year: https://www.kimptonhotels.com/blog/were-launching-a-plant-pals-program-to-brighten-your-next-stay/ My partner said, "When you go to hotels out of town nothing is alive...well, really all the things that are alive are things that you don't want to be alive." We deserve MORE life in our spaces. Please take advantage of this program so that they keep it going!

Yelp
Love the Kimpton brand, but this specific Kimpton was a disappointment. We had just stayed at the Vintage Portland and very much enjoyed it, so booked this one in Seattle. Here's why it was a disappointment: 1. Arrived at 10:30 pm to check-in and there was no one at the front desk. Seems like a security issue given the elevators aren't card activated. Basically anyone can walk in.... Took 15 minutes for someone to come and check us in. 2. There's a mandatory $25 daily amenity fee for coffee and happy hour drinks... what if you're pregnant? Seems discriminatory 3. Asked for 12:15 check out instead of 12:00 pm and were denied 4. Parking is 52/night, add all the fees and you're looking at 65/night Overall the value just isn't there for this hotel. You'll be paying the same as at a nicer spot down the street.

Yelp
The staff rocks and the hotel is in a great location, walkable and close to most things. I often travel to Seattle for work and appreciate the 5-6pm wine happy hours as an extra incentive to stay here. The adjacent restaurant is very nice, priced on the higher side, but stellar food and well stocked bar. I wish the rooms offered bottled water...water is provided in the lobby. Edna and team went out of their way to help me as I was initially provided a room, 2nd floor facing the street where traffic merges onto the freeway. It's constantly loud and bright and I was moved night #2, by my request, even though they were almost at capacity. Tip: I'd request an inside room or facing 4th and a higher floor to manage down noise and for downtown always pack your earplugs and leverage your phone's white noise App. Thanks Vintage team!

Yelp
I really wanted to give zero stars. This is not a good hotel. The rooms are updated, but tiny. This is obviously a very old building. The plumbing is super noisy and will keep you up all night. There is absolutely nothing going on in the lobby. I was forced to stay here for work because the Monaco was overbooked. They don't do daily housekeeping, and of course they don't tell you that until you call the front desk and ask what you're supposed to do with your garbage. My TV stopped working the second night. I called the front desk and they said the entire building has no TV. No compensation was offered. My expectation when I rent a hotel room, premium rate or not, is a working TV. Front desk offered no apologies. Believe me, I wouldn't have picked this place by choice. Next time, I will tell my company that I would prefer to stay at Motel 6. PS I received a pop up from Yelp asking that I be nice because this is Covid and businesses are trying their best. My review has nothing to do with Covid and this business is definitely not trying their best. *Staff at the front desk consistently wear protective masks.

Yelp
This hotel is centrally located, clean and cozy. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the doorman and received a warm welcome from Rickey who was amazing. After my experience with Rickey, I looked forward to my stay for 3 days. Edna was super super sweet and thoughtful as well. Few highlights- beds comfy, staff pleasant, lobby is comfortable, wine hour 5-6, great coffee, connected to tulios ( popular restaurant) HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Yelp
Kimpton Vintage - The hotel offers free wine and beer from 5 to 6 for a social hour which is a nice touch. Jesse, the concierge, was very accommodating, as was the valet driver and our housekeeper who provided a pack n play and extra towels. The room was a bit small, and only two rooms were available when we were moved. The room was set to 65 degrees however remained a bit stuffy, probably never going below 72 (my husband runs hot so he was very uncomfortable). The shower had good water pressure but the only temperatures were very cold or scalding hot. We were also offered comped dinner due to being relocated from the Palladian (helpful)! however the bistro there was closed (not helpful!). See below how we ended up staying at the Kimpton vintage. Kimpton Palladian - We flew in from Atlanta and booked the Kimpton Palladian to stay at before we flew back home. Upon arriving to the hotel we found out that they had overbooked and consequently moved us to the Kimpton Vintage (their sister hotel) where we had a smaller room for us and our 5 month old, a smaller bed, and a further distance from the sights we wanted to see. The hotel did not let us know until we arrived of this change. The positive was that they refunded us however we lost time to see the things we wanted to see and were moved to a less comfortable room/area. Prior notice of this would have been helpful. This review isn't a reflection of the concierge, housekeeping and the valet, it seems more of an issue with management.

Yelp
Kimpton Vintage was a great experience. Very nice location in proximity to the Seattle downtown center. Very nice 10 minute walk to Public Market.

Yelp
I recently stayed here for birthday celebration with my daughter, my best friend and her daughter. When we checked in my friend who had booked both rooms had asked specifically not to be by the elevator. They said one room was, and the other wasn't ready. I didn't mind, so I took the room (403) and boy did I regret it. All weekend it sounded like a train chugging up and down a track outside my room. That combined with the constant honking and drag racing, from our street view room I got little sleep with how noisy the room was. Upon entering the room I noticed how nice it was until I hit my leg on the base of the bed. I continued to hit my legs all weekend long and it looked awful by the end of the trip. Plus it was about 440 per night for 2 Queens! And no coffee maker? For that price they needed to be offering breakfast or something. Positives. Nice staff, Nice rooms and beds Negatives. Expensive for what you don't get. Street view was noisy and elevator room was so obnoxious. I wish they had honored our requests

Yelp
In person, the hotel was really nice. It was clean, front staff were friendly and helpful, and room was really nice (really thin walls though - bring ear plugs or be prepared to listen to loud sex and/or screaming children). They're located right downtown, across the street from the beautiful public library, and about 12-13 minute walk from Pike Place Market. The issue I had was after the trip. I checked my credit card statement and I was charged $50. Well this isn't right, I paid with points, there shouldn't be a charge at all. No worries, I'll call and get clarification. The woman I spoke with (unfortunately didn't catch her name), said it was for "guest amenities". When asked what "guest amenities" were, she said it goes to wifi access (umm okay cheap much?), $10 credit for the restaurant, karaoke (hard pass), and access to the restaurant across the street (limited, first come, first serve). First off, why am I being charged $22/night for wifi and food vouchers I don't care about? Charge more for the people who are interested in it. Also, don't hide that information on your site. Make it more obvious and transparent. It comes across as sneaky. The woman said this is something that everyone is charged for whether you're booking through their website or if you're using points but for some reason I wasn't charged for it so that was why I was seeing it now. I checked the booking site again though and the fee was included, so they just decided to double charge me. Not cool guys. I asked if we could get it removed, and she said they could do it as a one time occurrence... then she promptly hung up on me. Ummmmm... bye? Can't I get a confirmation number or something? Side note: still haven't seen the refund yet... Hoping it just takes a few days to appear on my card... I'm guessing she gets this question all the time because just asking for clarification and what it was, set her on edge and she went from friendly to bitter and angry. So while this is the company's fault for not being clear on the booking site, and her having to deal with all the bull crap from customers, she could still work on managing her anger or just not work in the service industry.

Yelp
The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I asked for a quiet room as I was traveling with my cat and I am handicapped. When I arrived at the hotel the valet left the cart unattended and it rolled into 5th Avenue almost hitting a Mercedes. The Mercedes owner was very upset and I was left standing there while he yelled at the valet who did not apologize. I went to the front desk the clerks were also rude (Chris?). My room was right across from the elevators and the broom closet (one elevator was broken so the doors slammed shut constantly). The toilet seat was broken, the shower had no pressure, there is basically NO room service, no coffee maker in the room. When I found the hair dryer barely worked I called and asked to speak with the manager. A Juanita said she was the manager and informed me the hotel was VINTAGE (vintage hair dryer??). I was to stay for six days for almost $4000. I decided to leave a day early. On Saturday night (July 7th) I was awakened at 1:30 a.m. by a door slamming in the room next to mine and loud voices. I thought they would stop but 20 minutes later I called the front desk. When I finally reached someone they said they would send up security. I do not believe they did. When I heard a loud voices again I opened my door to see a black man inches away from my face who called me a bitch and to "F off". I called the police. It was after 2 am before anyone showed up to quiet down the "party." I left early the next morning and will never go back.

Yelp
This is a great clean hotel I found from price line. Kimpton hotel vintage is located on 5th street and is in the downtown where most shopping, restaurants, and 10 mins from pikes market. We took the link rail from the airport and exited university station. It was about a 6 min walk to the hotel. I would rather do that than pay Uber. But upon arrival, Zack the front desk worker was super cool and helpful. He gave us all the recommendations and places/routes to take. I already knew that was a great sign. He also was able to check us in at 12pm. Thankful we didn't have wait around. Our room was the extra size with the sofa and it's perfect for our stay. Only thing was no great view but I'm here to explore haha. I would recommend staying here

Yelp
In considering this review I tried to think of things they could do better and there was only small things I could think of - therefore 5 stars. The location is great, easy walking distance to everywhere downtown, easy driving access to/from the highway. The hotel itself is an older character building but the rooms are fully renovated, modern and comfortable. The Tulio restaurant has the most charming wood bar and staircase I can recall seeing on this side of the country, reminiscent of historic pubs and restaurants in Boston. I love the size of this hotel although I can imagine in summer it may feel busting at the seams if it was fully booked, in February it was comfortable and more than adequate. The beds were comfortable and cozy, I would've preferred different pillows but it's possible I'm a bit of a princess that way. The bathroom was modern and the supplied toiletries were high quality. When we first arrived we were placed in a room beside the elevator which concerned me for noise but it didn't end up being a problem (perhaps if the hotel was busier it might have) - but I did get a chance to look at another room in the same category (king) and I was able to see not all rooms are created equally - the second one we looked at was smaller and darker - not terrible but not the same semi-spacious layout as the first. The lobby is on the smaller size but cozy, the hosted wine hour from 5-6 pm was pleasant and a nice touch. The $10 room credit for not having your room done was a neat idea. IHG members get a $10 credit for room service, the mini bar or the restaurant - if I hadn't done my research I wouldn't have known that. We used our credit to get a cinnamon bun to go each morning ($8) - it was enough for a small treat for 2 people and we enjoyed it in our room with the complimentary coffee from the lobby (til 10 am on weekdays and 11 am on weekends). It would be nice if they offered actual mugs (along with to go cups) instead of having to create waste. We would definitely consider staying here again. I've attached a picture to show all the charges on top of the room rate - this seems to be standard for Seattle but it's a little shocking nonetheless.

Yelp
This is a great property, but being a regular to Kimptons, this felt just a shade under what I have come to expect. My stay was very short, and my upgraded room was nice and quiet. I was told it was a corner room, but it didn't appear to be on a corner. Still, it was plenty of room and comfort for just me. While the main room looked to Kimpton standards, the bathroom showed some age, with water damage on the bottom of the door and very basic finishes over all. Simply, it didn't have the "classy" feel of other Kimptons. With the door shut, I could have been in a Best Western. That is not make or break for me, but unique compared to their other properties. My only experience with service was attempting to order room service breakfast, which was a little sputtered. I could only reach the front desk, who told me that room service would call me back. I waited 15 minutes and called again, and this time room service called right back. It was a small hiccup, but when traveling on business, 15 minutes in the morning count. Otherwise, the experience was fine. It was a good experience for a hotel, but not quite Kimpton level. That said, I would not hesitate to return. It's a great property in a good location.

Yelp
Stayed 2 nights for a pleasure trip to Seattle. The hotel is conveniently located to Pike Market and the Monorail Station. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. There are really no services available in the hotel. There was no housekeeping service during the stay. The bathroom was very small, and the shower water pressure was.....let's just say it took awhile to get wet. Not exactly sure how a thick-haired person would be able to properly rinse. The rate seemed competitive, until they added on an "early check in charge" and an "amenities fee". There are better value hotels nearby that actually have in house amenities -- even if they charge "extra" for them, too.

Yelp
I booked the hotel because Kimpton has a higher standards. I came on Friday night and I saw a bug between the mattress and the box spring. The next night there was like mold on the pillow and stuff on the sheets. The bed didn't look like it was made just the blanket being tucked in. I complained on Saturday and the guy forwarded the picture of the bug on the mattress to himself. Then the next day I brought up the spots on the pillows and sheets to the supervisor who asked me if I wanted to switch rooms, I said yes. So I had to go back up and get my bags to bring them down, so they could hold them for me and wait until after 3 where I could get another room. It was inconvenient that I had to switch rooms and bring something up more than one time. The 2nd room was better and cleaner. I had a queen bed in the first room and the 2nd room.

Yelp
This is my second time staying at the Kimpton. I loved it the first time and decided to return. It did not disappoint! Great service, great wine and great music during social hour!

Yelp
I was in Seattle for two weeks for work, the travel agent booked me here. I did not like this hotel at all! It's not a good sign when at check in, the front desk tells you they are short on staff so to let them know by 2pm each day if you want your trash removed! Huh?!! I was cringing at that point! Not happy! Well I get to the room, it's clean but so small. It's ok, I'll be at work most of the time, but the toilet got clogged twice!!! So annoying!! The bathroom is so outdated, I hated even going in there!! The shower was gross and old!! The sheets on the bed were not white!! They were so dingy!!! And yes I had to always alert the front desk if I wanted trash removed from my room. It's a small hotel, one Italian restaurant- that I never tried, the staff was friendly and responsive but do yourself a favor & just book the W Hotel around the corner!!! It's way better!!!

Yelp
I lovely hotel and no line to wait to check In! Really helpful and friendly folks the counter each time I asked for suggestions they had good ideas. It's a smaller hotel and no place to sit outside besides Trulio outdoor sitting area. Didn't go there as we were having a taste for oysters, but the whole menu looked great and not too pricey. Being from Chicago I would say it's worth the $ to stay at this little hotel

Yelp
I stayed here a few weeks ago for work and it was wonderful! I was very excited when I saw my company chose a Kimpton Hotel for us to stay because I've stayed in them on personal travel and LOVE them! This hotel centrally located downtown, rooms are very clean, and staff is really nice. I want to specially call out valet/doorman Gary who is an absolute angel! He was so friendly and really went above and beyond to help me when he didn't have to!

Yelp
One of our best experiences as hotel guests. Staff are the most attentive and kindest people I've ever encountered on vacation. We hung out in the hotel lobby on my Birthday with a bottle of wine since our dog was not willing to allow us to go out to have dinner. Zac is such an amazing employee you should all be so proud having him as your go to man up front. We were very well taken care of. In all honesty his presence is what will have a hotel guest come back to stay again. Thank you Zac!

Yelp
This review has been written and published; edited; removed and now re-written and republished. The score has gone from three to two and back to three. Obviously, it was a bumpy ride. Initially, there were some hiccups. (No bellman on duty when we checked in. Room card that didn't work -- at least twice. Stingy on the towels. Unmanned Front Desk. Under-staffing which resulted in me spending half an hour trying to reach someone in order to schedule a wake-up call. A Manager who can't even fake the sincerity of an apology.) Also, the room is dark; the hallway, very dark. Based on prior Kimpton experiences, Hubby and I were both disappointed. We spent six nights here. As our stay progressed, things got better. I'm sure that people who didn't have the same expectations that we had, were probably happy with their hotel choice. We were no longer unhappy. Wine Hour was nice enough. Maid service was very good. Attached restaurant is convenient. Great location! We spent six nights. The morning we checked out, Front Desk Clerk gave me a printed Invoice which I thoroughly perused before we turned in our room keys and left. Two weeks later, I received my AmEx statement and was surprised that the hotel charged me $450 more than I had agreed to pay. I called the hotel and spoke with "J" at the Front Desk. "J" determined that $100 was another guest's parking charge. He credited my AmEx account $100. He guessed that the additional $350 was early-checkout fees. (We had booked eight nights but left after six. We did, however, give the hotel two days' notice that we would be leaving two nights early, giving them the opportunity to sell that room to someone else.) After speaking with "J," I escalated my concern to the Assistant General Manager, Sahara. She reviewed the charges with Accounting and then credited my AmEx an additional $600. Sahara called me today and said that, in the interest of customer goodwill, she backed out the charges for the nights we didn't stay in the hotel. (We left because the cold damp weather caused both of us tremendous joint and muscle pain.) I sincerely appreciate Sahara and I appreciate the goodwill adjustment. In summary: I think that Kimpton properties are not what they used to be prior to their acquisition by IHG. I have found that the hotels vary widely from one property to another, so be sure to read on-line reviews carefully before choosing a Kimpton. That said, some Kimptons are truly awesome; and it's nice not to be in a cookie-cutter hotel.

Yelp
Kimpton does it again! The Vintage is a cute, trendy hotel with fantastic customer service. I especially loved that each room was named after a vineyard, and the cork headboard art was a nice touch too. Beds were extremely comfortable. We did have to call the front desk because our room did not seem to be cooling down - Ronny showed up within minutes to service our system and also provided us with a large fan for use in the room. Excellent! I love that coffee (iced and hot) was provided each morning in the lobby, and great wines at happy hour each night. Had a fantastic rosè (wish I could remember the name) from a nearby vineyard. The restaurant Tulio was nice as well.

Yelp
I was in Seattle for 2 1/2 days to visit my granddaughter. We had a superb quickie Visit. From the moment I landed on perfect Delta flight, to a helpful attendant showed me how to Purchase a senior ticket on light transit train to die town, including a most polite young man who ran after me saying " you picked up your receipt but neglected to take your ticket! Here it is!" What a welcome. Kimpton continues in the spirit of Bill Kimpton who wanted a boutique, personal and welcoming experience for visitors. That continues and am happy to report from A to Z, the experience at Kimpton continues. The youthful flavor, architecture, food, Art Museum in a league of its own, makes thus city so inviting at every level. Thank you to everyone who helped create lasting memories. Thank you. Ro L.

Yelp
My dad was airlifted to Harborview after a fall so my mom needed a last minute room during his hospital stay. Our son-in-law quickly arranged for the Kimpton Vintage and they arranged a special rate giving my mom a room that accommodated her, myself and other family as we came and went to help with my dad during his nearly 2 week hospitalization. The staff was kind and helpful, so caring and compassionate as we navigated this difficult time. We were balancing the hospital stay and two family graduations at the same time and the Kimpton was the perfect location. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I've been a fan of Kimton brand hotels for a few years now but I have grown to be even a bigger fan more recently. I have always been impressed with the consistency of outstanding customer service and friendliness throughout the entire staff! Front desk, valets, Bellman, you name it they are good at their job. This particular location I have frequent often and particularly Reggie and Anna at the front desk are extremely considerate... It's almost like I am going to visit friends from out of town when I come to this hotel and that to me absolutely solidifies that this is the only place I stay when in Seattle! The hotel is also extremely pet friendly for no additional fees as well

Yelp
Great location and yes, it is walking distance to Pike's place. Not the closest, but it takes about 13 minutes. Walking will save you the hassle of finding parking. The hotel room was way smaller than I thought but it did feel quite cozy and it did not feel like a hotel room at all. More like a room inside of a big house. Our view was of the parking lot (Room 501) and I asked if I could change, but the front desk said all the views aren't so nice and it was of the buildings. Pros: - dog friendly -free wine tasting from 5-6 pm -environmental friendly (as they have recycle bins, whole sized toiletries rather than disposables) -speedy housekeeping and valet services Cons: -bed sheets are rough and uncomfortable...I think they need fabric softener -service charge for amenities ($15/ night) for wi-fi, wine happy hour, etc. -EXPENSIVE VALET PARKING at $42/ night

Yelp
Terrible experience. When I checked in just after 3pm and went to my room, I found that it was full of a bridal party getting ready. I figured it was just a mix up and I was giving the wrong key. Turns out I was given the correct key, but they were allowed to use my room to get ready because theirs hadn't been ready yet? And then the the staff had forgotten to move them to the correct room before giving me my key. Weird, but not a huge deal, except when I got to the room, I found that all the towels and glasses were used. There was trash everywhere, and they'd clearly been sitting on the bed. The hand soap was open and had hair on it. The whole room smelled heavily of perfume. When I left for dinner, I asked that the room was fully cleaned while I was gone (the towels, sheets, glasses, toiletries all needed to be replaced + I was hoping this would have the side effect of removing the perfume smell). I came back 4 hours later to find the room in the same sorry state -- no one had cleaned it! I went down to the front desk and was offered a free glass of wine (my only options for which were the 2 wines they give away from free from 5-6) as an apology while I wait for them to fix the room. The front desk person said it was her first week and described this as a "shit-show". The hotel itself is also not what I was expecting. The rooms are very small (there was barely space to roll out the provided yoga mat) and the internet wouldn't stay connected long enough to watch a 30 minute video without restarting it. I'm really confused as to why this hotel has such high reviews? Even without all the mishaps I'm not sure it was worth what I paid for it. Positives: The bed was comfortable. Good water pressure. I usually trust Kimpton brand hotels but probably won't again after this experience.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! Anyone who knows me knows I have been a big Kimpton Groupie since...hmmm...I think 2008. Yes, this is not a secret. And yet, they continue to amaze me!! Short Answer: STAY HERE! The rooms are fabulous, the service is better! "The rest of the story" as they say... Here is my latest perfect example of Kimpton Hospitality: I surprised my daughter, Sara, the most amazing, 23-year-old, William's Syndrome rockstar with a "Kamping trip" at the "Hotel Vintage" in Seattle last night before a performance at the "5th Avenue Theatre". Yes, I excitedly told them we were seeing "Mrs. Doubtfire" (fantastic, just saying, and oh...a half a block away...leave your car and luggage...yay me!). So, here's the shocker...they apparently think we are royalty! SHHHH! Yep! We order room service...poof! They show up in minutes! We need something from our car (mommy, my blanket?) ...poof! They go fetch it! Oh! Need a few extra towels? Yeah, you know the drill, POOF! There you go! But...seriously, they also went out of their way to make sure Sara feel like she was truly an honored guest. They were so kind to her. Note; they also did the very same thing for my mom when we stayed at the Hotel Monaco when she and I would "Go Kamping"...Those were some of our most favorite memories...There are no words...but I digress. AND THEY ALLOW PETS and yet having stayed at many of their lovely hotels, it dawned on me this morning that I have NEVER smelled or even thought about whether there had been a pet in that room! I like pets, don't get me wrong, but I do not want to vacation with the odorous remnants of someone else's "darling"... Nope! Never happened! Seriously! Again, Kalee, Anane, Mike, so many others...wow! Sara came home giggling! How cool is that? Thank you so much.

Yelp
Listed as a 4 star; Closer to a 3. Biggest issue... 6 extra fees charged at check out. Parking is listed at $60 per day so no surprise although high for paid guests. The surprises are... Guest ammenity fee -$25.00, Guest ammenity fee tax - $3.92, City parking tax - $8.70, State parking tax - $6.15, State occupancy tax - $3.14. Paid priceline for all charges up front but still got bill from hotel for over $584 at check out. Perhaps part of issue is with price line, but buyer beware when booking with this hotel.

Yelp
I recently stayed here while traveling from Los Angeles. I was very impressed with this hotel. It's located smack dab in the middle of downtown Seattle. The hotel gives a boutique yet sophisticated vibe. The rooms were very clean. The staff was always professional and attentive. They even have a nightly wine presentation in the lobby for guests from 5-6pm. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for high class comfort with affordable rates.

Yelp
wow.... one word to describe my experience at Kimpton Hotel Vintage... God bless all the people who work there and work so hard to create an amazing customer service experience... I am NOT sure what the people below are complaining about, since my visit was nothing short of EXCELLENT... actually made my entire Seattle trip more amazing and another reason I fell in love with the city. Here are some highlights to help the people who skim through reviews: -EARLY check in was accommodated, I called a couple days before and asked if it was possible and it sure was, I was in the room by 11 am! -My fiancé and I were treated to an amazing chocolate desert along with champagne... not even sure how they pulled that off, I must have mentioned it when I called about the early check in. -I forgot my contact solution, they actually sent someone to go buy a new one for me :) also a toothbrush for my fiancé they gave at the front desk lol. -Also got a 10 dollar voucher for not getting cleaning done, but they cleaned anyways lol -everything was CLEAN overall -front desk staff amazing -they also texted me throughout to ensure my experience was nothing short of amazing. In LOVE with the Kimpton Vintage! Thank you all who work there, y'all are the real MVPs :)

Yelp
Nice and clean room. No yoga mat as mentioned in the website but there was free coffee in the lobby from 5-10am and wine hour from 5-6pm daily. King size bed room had a full size sofa that converts to a bed. Will be cramped if you pull it out but very nice to spread out after a long day of sightseeing plus there is a wingback chair in addition to the desk and desk chair. Three nice size windows with views of the library and other skyscrapers on the 9th floor. If you pass on housekeeping for a day, you get a $10 voucher for the Tulio restaurant, in room dining, or in room snacks. Couldn't figure out of the shampoo and hair conditioner were watered down or are normally watery? Very comfortable and walking distance to many restaurants. I'd stay here again.

Yelp
Awesome hotel in the Seattle area, and definitely one of the best Kimptons I've stayed at to date (but then all again, all Kimptons in general are great!). Stayed here a few weeks ago for one night and had an enjoyable time here. Hotel Vintage is very central, in the heart of downtown and near all the top Seattle tourist spots. Staff here are friendly and definitely represent and provide the legendary Kimpton customer service and hospitality. I arrived shortly after typical check-in time, roughly around 330PM. At that time, my room (I was upgraded to a King Premier room) was all ready and prepped with a welcome amenity already waiting for me inside. Typically most Kimpton properties that I've visited deliver their welcome amenities around 5-6pm, so this was one of they few experiences where the welcome amenity was delivered much earlier, which was a nice touch! The King Premier room was pretty spacious, which offered a large sitting area that included both a large sitting chair, sofa bed, and a large roomy desk with computer chair; a very comfortable bed; and a somewhat small but functional bathroom, furnished with the Kimpton line of CO Bigelow bath amenities. As far as I know, Hotel Vintage does not have any suite rooms, as its fanciest room available for booking is the King Reserve Room, which is slightly larger than the King Premier room but includes an Executive Amenties package. Despite not having any true suite options for booking or upgrade, the Hotel Vintage still does a fine job with its well appointed and furnished rooms. Overall, I had a great experience here and hope to stay again in the future!
