Conclusion:
|I had two reservations at the Kimpton Wilshire, both for rooms with a patio. Unfortunately, I was downgraded both times to rooms without one, which was disappointing. That said, I still liked the hotel overall — good service, spacious rooms, and a lovely rooftop area.||Review:|
I arrived at the hotel from LAX via Uber, which took about 30 minutes and cost USD 60 plus tip.||Check-in was efficient and the staff were friendly. However, I was informed at that time that I had been downgraded for the first night. The next morning, I confirmed with the front desk that I would be moved to a patio room for my second night, and they assured me that was the case. Later that day, when it was time to switch rooms, I was told I’d been “upgraded” to a suite — but again, with no patio. So, I was disappointed once more.||The hotel is located in a quiet residential area, with only a few restaurants nearby. If you're looking for more dining or entertainment options, you’ll need to go to another neighborhood. The hotel offers complimentary bikes, but they only have two, so availability may be limited.||Both the standard room and the suite were spacious. I found the standard room to be cozy and well-designed. The suite, however, felt awkward — it seemed like they simply added a couch to the room without much thought to layout or comfort. Both rooms were clean, and the WiFi worked well.||The rooftop is definitely the highlight of the hotel. There’s a pool, a restaurant/bar, and a cozy atmosphere overall. Breakfast is also served on the rooftop, which is a nice touch.
