Kimpton Hotels Launch Book Lending Program for Guests - AFAR

"This hotel participates in the Kimpton x Lit Hub book-lending program: guests can borrow Lit Hub–selected titles by asking at the front desk, consult seasonal curated reading lists (the spring selection spotlights books written by women for Women’s History Month), and take part in virtual Q&As and readings with authors and publishers. Guests can also access Lit Hub’s Literary Long Weekend itineraries—curated bookstore and library stops, dining recommendations, and activity suggestions—by asking at check-in, and Kimpton and Lit Hub publish each season’s selections and interview links on their social channels. Participating properties also offer a “book lovers’ discount” of 20%." - Michelle Baran

We came from a nightmare of a night at a motel 6 to this hotel and the difference was night and day. I wish we’d just booked this hotel for us and our 3 dogs in the first place but price was a concern. After the horrible experience we had, I would’ve just paid the extra money to never have to deal with Motel 6 in the first place. Hotel was great, staff was great, location was great. They really are dog friendly and happily brought the dogs beds and bowls we accidentally forgot. We received extra towels and pillows upon request and had a comfortable and restful night. I would definitely stay at one of these properties again, ESPECIALLY if I have my dogs!

This hotel is in a convenient location and that’s the best thing about it.|The noise level from the street was horrendous. We were on the 5th floor yet outdoor noise was so loud. (I have stayed in many city hotels and this has never happened). We had a room with a couch sleeper bed. This was the most uncomfortable thing ever. The mattress was paper thin, you could feel the bars and coils from the frame right through it. It sunk in the middle . Seriously that pullout matters should have been replaced years ago We were traveling with our older children who didn’t want to share a bed which is why we booked this room. I had come across a review that it was good for families which we did not feel that it was. The bathroom door is pocket doors that don’t even fully meet. Separate toilet also closes with a pocket door. All bathroom doors have frosted glass.|The shower was all glass so zero privacy if someone needed to grab anything or use the toilet. Also one of the bed frame in the other room was broken and falling off.| The pool area was nice although the pool closed at 5 every day which is ridiculous. There was a beautiful view of the city. (Can see the Hollywood sign in the distance)

I was nervous about staying here bc of reviews, but everything was great. The staff were all so friendly, I was able to check in a little early with no issues. The cold brew on tap with real cream was AMAZING! The pool area was small and there are only a couple lounge chairs but the heated pool was so nice. (The only drawback is it is only open til 5pm) There are several restaurants, and a liquor store across the street which is handy. Don’t miss the complementary wine hr! I would 100% stay here again. Walking distance to The Grove and Academy Museum . Thank you for a great stay!

The hotel itself is good: clean and comfortable. The rest of the story: upon check-in, both elevators were out of service, and we were told that they were working on them. After waiting 30 minutes or so, we decided we would take the stairs and there were no staff available to help us carry the luggage up 4 flights of stairs. Additionally, some of the front desk staff will tell you what you want to hear but fail to deliver. An example: The hotel offers a coffee maker to be delivered to the room upon request. We requested the coffee maker and were told it would be right up. A couple of hours later we requested it again and told again that it would be right up. After returning from dinner, my wife went to the front desk to tell them we would like to go to bed, and we would like the coffee maker. The front desk person told my wife that the coffee maker had been delivered. It had not been delivered. Upon my wife's insistence, the front desk person found a staff member to take the coffee maker to our room. Based upon the cost of this hotel/parking, we expected better service. Not likely to stay at this particular Kimpton property again.

RESERVATION was made under the name: Richard/Rick Benjamin I want to give 5 stars to the incredibly helpful, kind, and professional staff. They were GREAT. The location was so-so. It’s a block & a half away from the Academy of Motion Pictures and LACMA, but the most direct route meant passing through a homeless encampment blocking the sidewalk and piles of human feces along the way. I’m a nurse - occupational hazard is that I instantly know the difference between human vs dog feces. The hotel is a ‘boutique hotel’ which screams minimalist. Rooms were clean but noisy - they need dual-paned windows as it’s right on Wilshire Blvd. At 2:30 p.m., I took a shower and the water pressure was very weak at and the water temperature, set at its hottest, was only tepid - it barely washed the shampoo out of my hair. The water temperature in the bathroom sink was plenty hot…but not the shower. And speaking of water, in the second floor lounge (where you can get complimentary coffee in the morning), to make the coffee the sign says, “Pour water here,” there’s no SINK or bottled water nearby - we had to go back to the room to grab a couple water bottles (?) Didn’t make sense. The microwave blew a fuse but they fixed that promptly and the key cards *didn’t* work more often than they *did* work. Also, we had three adults registered for the room and they only had two sets of towels, so we had to keep asking for a third set every day. I know these all sound like “no big deal” issues but, when you add them all up, and consider the pricey $$$ cost, we just expected the hotel to live up to the claims on the website. Again, though, the staff were VERY courteous and friendly.

Super convenient to LACMA (which was closed for renovations...), the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (which was was better than expected), and The Grove (good for meals). We paid for a little patio, but it rained every time, so we could not use it. The little bar restaurant had a good view, good food, and friendly service. We ate there twice and other than convenience that was the best things about this Kimpton. The additional amenities and parking, pretty much double what you are paying (but we knew this going into it). Probably would look for something with better value next time.

The Kimpton Wilshire was recently remodeled with new carpets, wallpaper, and effective and quiet air conditioning & heating in the rooms. The shower in the bathroom was big enough for two or three people and the king-size bed in my room was comfortable, with linens changed daily. The location for the hotel is on a part of Wilshire that has some vacant stores, and is 10 or so blocks from the best part of Beverly Hills. However the hotel is only about six blocks in the other direction from the L.A. County Art Museum (with two buildings open and a third being renovated) , and the fairly new Tar Pits Museum with fascinating reproductions of the bones of dinosaurs and other ancient animals that were trapped in the Tar Pits. One of four locations of the enjoyable mid-priced Uovo Italian pasta restaurant, with an open kitchen surrounded by the tables and counter serving area is very close to the hotel. The lobby of the hotel is extremely small and there is no doorman at the front door. I felt a downpoint was that the only restaurant in the hotel is Videre, on the roof of the hotel, with a small enclosed dining area and some tables around the hotel's swimming pool. Videre has a very small number of menu choices although breakfast can be ordered for room service. The servers are polite but the choice of menu items is small. The hotel appears to be priced below the larger AC by Marriott Hotel nearby. By joining IHG rewards, lwhich also includes rewards for several other chains, including Holiday Inn, one earns points and sometimes can get special rates at this and other Kimpton Hotels.

Stayed here for the first time - very pleased. Property is well located by The Grove and 10-mins drive from Beverly Hills. Good coffee shops and some restaurants all walking distance. Very personable and lovely staff, especially housekeeping and maintenance, who were wonderful. Good common areas for working and 24/7 Nespresso machine in lounge. Very quiet room facing the back of the hotel. Parking is available. Will stay again.

Yelp
What an amazing surprise! We loved it here so much. Super wonderful service. The rooftop pool area was so lovely and restaurant was great. Loved the truffle fries! They are absolutely dog friendly with no additional charge. We had a second floor room which was convenient to the lounge, and had a little patio. The tub was huge and my boyfriend took a long bath . Loved the wine / happy hour! We hung out in the lounge in the morning having coffee and working.... And then a few times having wine. The parking is pricey but we HAD to avoid it because my boyfriend was driving his Large oversized Mercedes Sprinter which would was too tall anyway yo make it into the parking garage. We got super lucky because you can park on the Wilshire after 8 pm AND all day on Sundays and Holidays. The cost of the hotel was very very reasonable. We had great food at the Indian restaurant next door. Centrally located to many good restaurants. WE WILL BE BACK!!

Yelp
We booked our stay from July 4th-6th through the hotel's website. I later called to add one extra night for July 3rd, which should have been simple. Instead, the agent rebooked our entire stay under a new reservation, resulting in a $315 overcharge. The original price for the extra night was $226. It took two days, five different people, and a lot of frustration to finally get it resolved. Thankfully, I ended up speaking with Caesar, who was incredibly helpful. The two stars are solely for the kind staff and valet, who were great. Now, the property itself was disappointing. The pool area was dirty--the daybeds looked filthy, there were cigarette burns on the fire pit seating, and everything just felt unkempt. Our room floor felt sticky, and walking barefoot turned the bottoms of our feet black. I live in DTLA and drove home to grab house slippers because of how uncomfortable it was. Another big letdown was the gym access. The hotel partners with LA Fitness, which I assumed was nearby. It wasn't--it was a long walk in the sun. Once there, we had to wait for a manager, sign a waiver, and then got hit with a pushy sales pitch. I told him I use ClassPass and wasn't interested, but he was visibly offended and gave off a bad attitude. Even worse, he held onto my ID and room key during the workout, which made me feel very uncomfortable. The hotel should reconsider this partnership or warn guests about the experience. Other odd things: the ice comes in very thin plastic bags that stick to the cubes. Some plastic ended up in our drinks. There was also a homeless person camped on a hotel bench for hours--still there when we left again later. Finally, our room had a constant dripping noise coming from the AC vent. The front desk kindly offered to move us, but by that time, it was our last day, and we chose to go to another hotel's pool instead. This entire experience--from the frustrating rebooking process to the poor room and amenity conditions--was just not worth it. I would not recommend staying here.

Yelp
I stayed here for one night and had a lovely time! My friend and I arrived at 1pm and were able to go up to the pool while we waited for checkin as they don't offer early check in on weekends. The pool was awesome! There are only 4 pool chairs and 2 were reserved for resort pass so we just sat at the restaurant and went back and forth to the pool. They were fine with us being at the restaurant in swimsuits and barefoot. We ordered some drinks and they were pricey but really good! We also got some amazing fries. They have a perfect poolside menu! There were some loud kids in the pool but I know they can't control that. It was a funny juxtaposition with the DJ. Our room was spacious and clean with a powerful AC! We had a cute balcony with chairs and loved spending time out there. The staff was kind and we loved that they offered iced flavored water all day and night! I would come back!

Yelp
It was not booked under my name. The shower is very weak and completely hot. The location was just OK because between the hotel and the Academy of motion picture museum was a homeless encampment so we were stepping over human feces. The staff, however, could not have been nicer and helpful .

Yelp
I booked this hotel specifically for the complementary EV charging that came with valet parking. They did not charge my car overnight when asked. At checkout when I discovered the car had not been charged I asked the valet if it could be charged now using one of the fast chargers. He was very rude and said they were busy and disappeared. This added 2 hours to my trip between getting a partial refund for the valet charging and sitting at a public charger.

Yelp
Yikes. No. Gave it another try. This is not attentive boutique experience Kimpton is known for. Didn't deliver breakfast. Valet had to be hunted down. I know LA is ... LA, but come on. A modicum of service might help image. The food is frozen, to reheat, nothing fresh, and drinks ridiculously named without fun or flavor. How do you ruin a Moscow Mule? In short, over charged, poorly executed. Not a quality Kimpton.

Yelp
Amazing service, beautiful clean room, amazing amenities, and the food and drinks at dinner were fantastic!! But again, the staff really ensured to make everyone feel like a valued guest, almost like they were family!

Yelp
Full disclosure; Kimpton was our default hotel chain due to their pet policy but we had a few choices of what one in the LA area and we chose the Wilshire and we are so glad we did! The location was perfect. A few blocks from BH but not too loud. We were here for 3 days during our first road trip and a week the next time. Some people might not like the smaller lobby and lack of resort style amenities but that didn't bother us at all. We were out and about most of the time. As I said, we originally chose Kimpton hotels due to their "unlimited" pet policy. We traveled cross country with 3 dogs. Our options were extremely limited. The hotel doesn't have any extra pee fees and they provide dog beds, dishes, waste bags, and some treats. The staff was kind and helpful and offered belly rubs at all times.

Yelp
A hidden gem! Very clean, quiet modern hotel with pleasant and accommodating staff. Thanks Crystal and Cha for checking in on us ;) Rooftop restaurant with outdoor seating and a pool. Great views and you can see the iconic Hollywood sign from the suite we stayed in. We had breakfast every morning at Cafe Fresco which is located diagonally from the hotel. Really good options from the menu and delicious!

Yelp
The property and service are NOT Kimpton quality! What a disappointment! We loved the pool space on the roof, but everything else was a disaster. I found a debug in my room in the early am and they wouldn't let me change rooms so as not to "infect" another room. I told them I couldn't sleep in a bed where I found a bedbug and they told me there was a couch in the hotel lounge area where I could "rest." Then they wouldn't offer me any discount even though I couldn't sleep in my room and they basically told me to couch surf. They referred my complaint to their insurance carrier, who, after asking for medical bills ghosted me. I had no medical bills. I never claimed that I was physically injured. I simply wanted a credit for the room I paid for and couldn't use. The hotel would not respond to me either. The friends I was traveling with found methamphetamine in the pocket of one of the robes hanging in the closetf their room and even they got a comp! Side note, do not wear the robes as they are obviously not changed between guests. I am a very frequent traveler and have been staying at Kimptons for many years and have never experienced anything like this. The staff, with the exception of pool staff, was very young and rude about just about everything.

Yelp
Hotel itself seemed nice enough. Rooms were fairly clean though the carpeting and floor level surfaces needed better cleaning. Desk legs had a lot of black grime and dust on them and carpeting had brown stains that seemed to just be something that was dropped and only brushed or vacuumed off when it clearly needed carpet cleaning. The property rooftop pool looked nice enough and the lounge seating on the rooftop patio looked lovely. However for the day we booked the hotel the hotel had a sign up stating the pool area and rooftop deck and restaurant was closed due to "unforseen circumstances" well we did end up going up to get a glimpse of what the unfortunate circumstances were. One staff member told us the pool should still be available for use, so we went to take a look for ourselves and it turned out that they decided to close it off because they had some sort of small private event going on at the restaurant upstairs. I guess they didn't want the lowly hotel guests using the amenities they paid a high priced amenities fees to use while staying at this location after all or they haven't yet figured out how to maybe separate an area for hotel guests to use vs the restaurant to hold their events. I think it's crappy to advertise these things as selling points to hotel guests coming from out of town only for people to be disappointed when being told they cannot use stuff they are still forced to pay an amenities fee for regardless of whether it's actually available for use. Also, even if it had been open they don't tell you until check in, but the pool hours are only 9am to 5pm? What kind of hotel does that? You can't swim early morning or evening hours at all? Also too close for the restaurant to have people swimming or enjoying the pool? Then maybe the restaurant should be relocated! There was a breakfast with good options available and the staff running that were quite lovely so kudos to them and the great staff running the valet service and the great housekeeping staff who gave us refills of needed items while here. As for the front desk staff well, they were less than helpful when I cut myself on the broken makeup mirror in the bathroom and also the broken light fixture in the bathroom was brought to their attention. Would we stay here again? Most likely not we have better experience at holiday in express which charges way less for better accommodations sadly! And I've never been told we can't use their amenities once at those locations which also provide 7am to 10/11pm pool hours.

Yelp
Really had at blast at the Kimpton Hotel Wilshire this past week with my lady. We had a late meeting in Westwood so popped in here for lunch and views and libations on the rooftop. Caught Happy Hour at the perfect time, and really enjoyed our Margaritas. I enjoyed the Chicken bites, and she loved the Cauliflower poolside. The music was the perfect vibe of downtempo and jazz, and the air was breezy and cool. Chris was our waiter and he was amazing and attentive without pestering us. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Kimpton Wilshire and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
For the price we probably received exactly the room we should have expected. Things to know: Pros: friendly staff, nice "honor bar," and good blackout curtains. Cons: When we opened the room's door, a chemical "smoke removal" smell hit us. The room seriously needed a deep clean. The bed was fine, but it's old. Sheets were also fine, but it's unpleasant to use queen sized bed pillows on a king bed. Any sleep was interrupted by each partner going into the bathroom due to a glass panel that connects to the sleeping area. Flip on the bathroom light and it illuminates the bedroom as well. We also found it very unusual to arrive a bit early, learn the room was ready, but have the 'early access' be offered for a fee that was roughly 20% of the room rate. In my extensive travels this was a first. Location wise it's a quick walk to Farmer's Market or the Grove.

Yelp
Solid rooftop pool and bar-- I reserved a pool chair at this property through ResortPass. The rooftop itself is pretty small and not a lot of shaded areas. The food was OK (with the exception of the French toast which was delicious) and a bit pricey. The green juice was not very good but it might just be my tastes.

Yelp
This is the best hotel with amazing service and accommodations. Jason was a wonderful bartender and Margaret and Rosa stopped by to check on guests which made the visit worthwhile. I will Be coming back due to their service.

Yelp
CHEAP TACKY NOT WORTH THE MONEY AT ALL. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU VALUE A QUALITY EXPERIENCE. No amenities! No kindnesses! No nothing. They don't even give you a complimentary bottle of water. You have to leave your go down to the second floor to get coffee. Rooftop experience is cheap and tawdry

Yelp
Lovely hotel in the middle of LA! Walking distance from many good dinner and bar spots. Great location, valet parking, always has late check out at 12. I stayed here with a friend who was visiting from out of town. They do offer military discounts. We came on a Wednesday night, to a mid-week getaway. They have complementary water, fruit, and popcorn in the lobby. They also have on another floor a free coffee and tea bar. Front staff are very friendly. The hotel is very trendy. Rooms are small but clean and well put together. (Not soundproof). They have a small pool up top and great seating areas. I like that you need a hotel room key to get to certain floor levels. Makes me feel safe. I did take away one star as the roof top, and pool close very early and that is one of the main appears here. Overall, it was a good stay 4/5

Yelp
I stayed here for 3 nights. They do a wine happy hour in the swanky lobby every night (maybe just during the week) from 5-6. The wine isn't bad for being free. The rooms are nice and clean, but not entirely spacious. This is a boutique hotel, after all. Valet parking is $73/day. Self-parking is $51. Outdoor pool. The gym has a Peloton. Breakfast not included.

Yelp
Cute, clean room, fun, attentive staff. The Open Sesame cocktail upstairs at the pool bar Videre was phenomenal and had a great view. Checkout is at 12 noon (later than most hotels), and lots of cute special touches like the 24/7 coffee on the 2nd floor and dog water bowl at the check in desk. We would come back.

Yelp
$150 room deposit required at check in! Also a mysterious charge of $39.27 on my Visa card with No paperwork provided to sign confirming this charge?? Hotel exterior looks bland! There is No fitness center, No laundry room, No coffee maker and No microwave in the rooms! Also Air conditioning in the room is weak! Regular noise interruption from adjacent rooms. Guy at the front desk has very poor customer service (he took so long to check me in and also did not inform me about the hotel policies like complimentary tea and coffee in the morning as well as guest social hour in the evening where you can sample complimentary wine! Also bathroom mirror had rust and the HDMI wall panel was not properly fitted to the wall! The mini refrigerator in the room cannot be used to store food Only positives here are the rooms have an outdoor patio but it's Not private because you can see and hear other guests chilling at their patios! There is a swimming pool on the roof top! Lots of restaurants nearby and also close proximity to metro transit! There is an Umbrella and yoga mat in the closet!

Yelp
Excellent experience. This is a clean, well located hotel in LA. It was easy to find an easy to park with valet. The staff was excellent and friendly. Check-in was easy. happily there was a great restaurant on site.

Yelp
This review is just for the pool :/ Had a pool day with some girlfriends this weekend and was kind of disappointed by this place. Some of my friends have kids, which is why for our weekend staycation we chose a pool that said online it was 21+. We just wanted to have a few cocktails and sit in the sun, as one expects to do in LA in mid July. We couldn't really do that because there were at least 7-10 kids in the pool, toddlers to 10 years olds. My god. They kept splashing us and crying and screaming. I'm not trying to sound like I hate kids here, there were a lot of other people very annoyed because they were taking up the whole pool and splashing everybody. One of my girlfriends said it best, we could have gone to the Best Western and had the same experience for a third of the cost. The wait staff was visibly frustrated but also kind of taking it out on everybody else? One of them in particular was pretty rude to us the entire time. At one point one of us asked why it said 21+ on the website and they said it was a typo. (?) We rented a cabana, but it was really more like booth seating at a restaurant. Really no place to lay down. Luckily we were able to grab some chairs as well to sit in the sun, but the experience and the cabana itself were disappointing. They touted that they had cold brew on tap in a little lounge area, but they really just meant we could help ourselves to the hotel lobby coffee. The pool is not super accessible to people not staying at the hotel, we had to wait a long time to get in. Never been to this hotel before so glad I tried it but will find a new rooftop next time.
google avatar

Layla L.

Yelp
Pros: Hotel staff is nice and accommodating. Room was clean. Pool area is pretty but very tiny. Cons: first room smelled like moth balls and AC was broken. They tried to fix AC and couldn't so they moved us to a diff room, said it was an upgrade but it was exactly the same. In this new room the AC was broken, phone was broken and hair dryer didn't work. I didn't bother to complain since we only stayed 1 night but I didn't sleep well bc it was so hot. Never again.

Ashley M.

Yelp
Horrible experience! We got into our hotel around 4:45 p.m. and the room wasnt even ready yet. Check in was at 3 p.m. Then my boyfriend and I were in our room completely n*ked and having s*x and the maid walks in without knocking and sees us. It was humiliating. They didnt even have the do not disturb sign to give to us and we weren't aware we were going to have someone come in without knocking first. Then later that night around 11:30 p.m the fire alarm goes off twice. Scary part about it was the elevators completely were closed off and we couldn't find emergency stairs to get down stairs. I called the front desk and they said it was a false alarm. We reached out to the assistant manager the next morning and he was laughing about the situation saying "these things happen all the time" and that the fire alarm was a "safety thing". He was very rude and made it seem like our situation wasn't a big deal. That is an invasion of privacy!

Yelp
From the second I pulled in, to the second I pulled out, I loved every second of my stay at Kimpton Hotel Wilshire! The valet attendants were wonderful, the front desk was wonderful and I cannot say enough about Jason, the bartender. He was great along with my server Brian and the GM Wren. I will be back time and time again! Make sure to get the soaking tub! Oh and the chocolate chip cookies! Heaven.
google avatar

Rosa C.

Yelp
Very disappointed with this hotel. I reserved a double bed room. However, open checking in I received a room with only one bed, I paid extra for the two beds, and when I asked to be placed on the correct room, the hotel advised me they were sold out and if I wanted to, I could try another hotel. Absolutely no if you book this hotel, make sure that you confirm to get the room that you were paying for. The bathroom has a bathtub only, no shower very inconvenient. Then, I forgot my iPhone charger in the room, called an hour later to see if I could come back and pick it up, I was not allowed to, just to be told 2 days later, after filing a lost item report, lost and calling the hotel twice that they never found it. Which is a lie, since I know I left it in the room.

Yelp
Beautiful room and the rooftop restaurant and bar are top notch! The food and staff are incredible. I would highly recommend staying there.

Vanessa N.

Yelp
The rooftop restaurant is the best! I've been here multiple times and the food never disappoints. Not to mention the beautiful 360 view you get of LA.

Jason G.

Yelp
I give my stay at the Kimpton Hotel Wilshire 5 stars for the decor, staff, food, and hospitality. I loved the attention to detail that went into every element of this place. The rooftop captured the essence of Hollywood; the pasta I ordered for lunch at the restaurant located on the rooftop was so fresh. Our room was designed with comfort in mind. My friend and I had so much fun partaking in the social hour in the lobby with the complimentary wine and snacks as we mingled with other guests staying at the Kimpton. Before check out, we thought of stopping by the rooftop again as they served a complimentary breakfast for guests; we thought it would be a typical continental breakfast, but we were greeted with a full-on breakfast with everything you can think of: fresh juices, variety of meats, and gourmet baked goods. The hotel was in the middle of many restaurants, museums, and music venues. Looking forward to checking in again.

Yelp
We've been coming here since 2020 and man the menu has really fallen off and the extra charges were surprising. They weren't able to make a reasonable accommodation for gluten allergy and I ended up with a naked hashbrown, 2 eggs, and 4 slices of avocado for 18 dollars after being told there weren't enough hashbrowns to put avocado on it as a faux avocado toast. Uncertain how the stock of the kitchen is supposed to be the problem of the customer. Charges They charged for the fries without noting that it would be an additional cost There was an automatic tip of 20% charged and we were not informed before hand. Servers were kind and had a good vibe. Disappointed that the chef wouldn't make simple adjustments for a food allergy.

Yelp
Nice boutique hotel in a great location. Dog friendly so we brought our pup with us. Even to the rooftop bar/restaurant! Food and service at the bar restaurant was great! We thought we would stop for some drinks and snacks. Then maybe eat elsewhere, but the food was amazing here! The shrimp and potato appetizers were absolutely delicious and the chicken and steak entrees were phenomenal. Will definitely come Back in the spring/summer and enjoy the views at the rooftop pool

Honestly, tell me why the holiday inn was better. Room SUITE view of a wall (super small room btw), amenities are trash compared to the description, over the phone guest services said information untrue upon arrival, restaurant view is pretty but small space and food was pricey but only okay with the slowest service even though empty. ALSO, at night they count how many cars are in their lot and charge them to random rooms..NO JOKE (they personally told me this when asking why I was charged for it). This is definitely not a luxury hotel, save your money.

Yelp
My stay at the Kimpton Hotel Wilshire was not horrible, but underwhelming. The area and curb appeal of the hotel left much to be desired - the area surrounding the hotel was bleak. Our room was okay, very spacious but it felt average. Our bathroom door was broken and could not close fully. The beds were comfortable. Nothing felt luxurious and the hotel had an odd smell. However, we LOVED the valet service and utilized it many times. Staff was very attentive and always ready to help. We also enjoyed the rooftop area. It has beautiful views but overpriced drinks that aren't very good.

Yelp
I planned our small wedding ceremony in the penthouse suite here and everything went perfectly thanks to the staff at Hotel Wilshire! The reason we chose this venue is because we wanted to have our dogs at the wedding and we didn't want to have to travel to multiple places. We always stay at Kimpton hotels if our dogs will be with us because it is SO welcoming to our fur babies! The penthouse was great because it has about 600 sq ft of space inside (living room, bathroom, bedroom, bar) and about the same amount of space outside including lounge areas and a dining My husband and I visited the hotel a few times prior to our special day. We went to check out the suite and rooftop and get an idea of what kind of accommodations there were and what our various options were for planning an event. This was all coordinated with their sales team, front desk team, and catering/restaurant team who were all amazing to work with! We came again with our dogs after booking to look at room options, check out lighting at the time of our ceremony (just before sunset) and eat at The Roof. The food was great and it was so beautiful at sunset! Finally the big day was here and we had several guests book rooms as well. We had 10 guests and 1 doggie guest in addition to our 2 dogs. Our ceremony went off without a hitch. So seamless from the valet parking, to the coming and goings of vendors, to photo spots, the delicious multiple course dinner and tray served appetizers, and of course the complimentary wine hour! Again the folks here were such a joy to work with and we had such a memorable time here!

Yelp
I pretty much only stay at IHG properties and mainly Kimptons. It's a points thing. This is definitely not the nicest Kimpton I've been to but consistent with others. Rooms were decent, bathroom , rooftop restaurant was a great spot for afternoon meal and drink. We went to Hollywood Bowl and hotel is a 20 min Uber ride. Nice location out of the Hollywood congestion.

Yelp
This is a little boutique Kimpton on Wilshire hidden between buildings and a quick turn into a parking lot with valet. The check in is quick and the rooms are typical Kimpton. Yet, some of the amenities are lacking like I didn't have lotion in bathroom and had to call down for it and then there was an old stereo rather than the typical jam box. However, there is ice and icecream on every floor and the rooms are relatively quiet. Best part was the shower and the roof top pool with views of Hollywood. I would definitely stay here again if needing to be in central area of LA.

Yelp
Worst experience in my life. Poor communication, poor management and the worst customer service I've ever come across. Spoke with managers Cornelia and Bridget at the Palamor, front desk at this location, as well as the reservations department, all who gave me a different story and decided they'd rather give us the run around and place us on hold for over an hour and a half than help us address a simple concern. Will never be staying at this or any Kimpton hotel again, recommend you don't either.

Yelp
What a gorgeous hotel! It doesn't look like much from the outside but once inside, the service is top notch and the accommodations so clean and comfortable! Cornelia met us at the front counter and made check-in easy and efficient. She was very kind, knowledgeable and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Once in our room, the cleanliness was impressive and for two tired parents of twins, the bed heavenly. We called down for ice which was promptly delivered as were lush bathrobes for us to use during our stay. Fabulous stay. Thank you Cornelia and staff!

Yelp
The rooftop restaurant and bar is impeccable! Staff is very hospitable, friendly, and accommodating. The service was great and food was amazing. The environment is nice, intimate, and welcoming. Will definitely come back when I'm in the area!

Yelp
Who the h*ck closes their rooftop pool at 5p on the weekends? It's not like this is even is a residential area. Definitely wouldn't have booked this place if I knew that.

Yelp
I'll start by saying I never write reviews. In this case, the Kimpton hotel was so bad that I had to change that stance. Where do I begin? For starters, there was no heat in our room after calling to the receptionist a few times, they were able to reboot the heat on the second of the night of our stay. Next issue was hot water that we didn't have in our room during the whole stay. Lastly, housekeeping is just a nightmare here. Requested basic things such as towels they took up towards to an hour to receive. And lastly, a room was not cleaned, and after returning home at 4 o'clock they wanted us to leave the room while they cleaned it since that was the hotel policy that they cannot clean room while guest were in the room. Just avoid staying here. Oh and here's the kicker! When you ask to speak to a manager, there's never one on-site or available. Imagine that! A hotel with lots of staff and not a manager to oversee it all. Only in LA!

Yelp
Spacious, aesthetically beautiful, clean, convenient, great location, love the rooftop, love the bath products, easy to get in/out! My go to place when in the area. Comfy beds and reasonably priced!

Yelp
horrible decision to stay here. they take $150 incidental fee per night (not even a hold) and don't reimburse you until after you leave. wtf do they think you're taking lol there's literally nothing in these rooms. Also, they can't check you in until 3p? Give me a break

Yelp
The reception / lobby waiting area has a minimalist modern design that was softened with flowers and cushy pillows on the couch. When my friend arrived, they were having their happy hour in the lounge area on the second floor, so we grabbed some fruit and wine gratis. The room had nice touches throughout, and in keeping with conserving energy and water, there was a note saying that they only change linens every 3 days unless requested to do it more often. The bathroom was quite spacious and included a long deep tub that could comfortably accommodate a 6' tall person. Also in keeping with environmentally sound practice, their soap and shampoo dispensers were not one use disposable containers, but larger refillable ones. As with most modern hotels, there were spare USB and electrical charging ports under the TV. Since this is Los Angeles, there was a yoga mat in the closet, leopard robes, and healthy snacks in the minibar. It was an overcast day, but we checked and the pool was warm enough to go into if we had been wearing bathing suits instead of dresses:) Yes, we are stereotypical Southern California ladies who lunch by the pool, so what else would we order besides the house salad? One with shrimp, and one with rare ahi tuna, both under $20, served with candied pecans, fresh fruit, avocado, and bits of chevre; beef was an option, as was chicken, if those are your preferred proteins. Since we were eating salads, we *needed* something hot with our meal, so we also shared a side of fries :) By the afternoon, the skies had cleared and we got a blue sky view as dessert.

Yelp
I stayed here for a friend's birthday party mid-pandemic (September 2020) and felt very safe and comfortable in my room with all the precautions and extra cleaning measures in place. Lovely rooftop pool. The fancy suite my friend booked had a large private patio, allowing for a socially-distanced celebration outdoors. I booked my own room to follow health recommendations. I enjoyed my complimentary breakfast and coffee, safely packaged and ready for pick-up at the front desk. Downsides: valet was very expensive, weird shower that was difficult to shut off, and not all guests followed posted masking rules (but kudos to the hotel and staff for posting and following safety guidelines).

Yelp
Day pass is the way to go in LA on Hot day. The pool was perfect the people were sweet and my Turkey sandwich was the best.
