Kimpton Hotels Launch Book Lending Program for Guests - AFAR

"This hotel participates in the Kimpton x Lit Hub book-lending program: guests can borrow Lit Hub–selected titles by asking at the front desk, consult seasonal curated reading lists (the spring selection spotlights books written by women for Women’s History Month), and take part in virtual Q&As and readings with authors and publishers. Guests can also access Lit Hub’s Literary Long Weekend itineraries—curated bookstore and library stops, dining recommendations, and activity suggestions—by asking at check-in, and Kimpton and Lit Hub publish each season’s selections and interview links on their social channels. Kimpton Shorebreak Resort

"How did it strike you on arrival? In typical Kimpton fashion, this beachfront resort comes on strong with the summer camp vibes. The bright and airy lobby feels more like a boutique hotel, filled with bikes, rustic, wood-hewn furniture, and leafy green plants. Additionally, the location can't be beat: The hotel is located directly across the street from the Huntington Beach pier. Nice. What’s the crowd like?It draws a diverse mix of families, couples, and solo travelers. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Rooms have views of either the hotel's lively courtyard or of the beach. Many have balconies overlooking the ocean. Not surprisingly, the decor is California-cool, with shades of blue juxtaposed against crisp white linens. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?WiFi is free and fast. The bathrooms here are massive—and immensely relaxing, as many have soaking tubs. Room service and food: Worth it?The Pacific Hideaway restaurant serves American food with coastal infusions—expect dishes like ceviche bathed in coconut milk and served in a half-shell. Coffee is always available in the lobby, and the wine happy hour is a Kimpton staple. At night, the courtyard turns into a lively party, with s'mores passed around the firepit and rowdy, wine-fueled games of cornhole. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you. There's no pool, but beach chairs and towels are provided. Beach cruisers are free for riding up and down the boardwalk, and the well-equipped gym even includes a climbing wall. Bottom line: Worth it, and why?The location can't be beat. Paired with the sleek decor and friendly, communal atmosphere, the Kimpton Shorebreak is an ideal California home away from home." - Laura Ratliff

A great stay, wish we didn’t have to leave! Were all so friendly and accommodating, they even let us do an extra late checkout due to our flight. Timing will be so very much appreciated that! All of the amenities were just perfect and it was literally across the street from the beach and on the same block as dining and shopping! My partner and I even considered extending our travel plans just to enjoy a little longer, we will certainly be planning our next trip back. ❤️

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Valeted my vehicle ($45/day) and walked everywhere. This location is insane. You are literally across the street from the pier. Even though our room had no ocean view, we could just walk out front and see it. S’mores was a fun thing to do with my daughter. One block away from the Surf Nights on Tuesday. Worth going, busy but good food and cute vendors. I could not have been happier with this stay. Beds are comfy, bathroom had a big shower and a huge soaking tub. It’s cool you can borrow bikes. Coffee in the mornings was great. The employees are so nice and helpful. And it was cool to play records from the collection they have in our room. I don’t understand how this place gets less than stellar reviews. Will stay again if ever back this way!

Google
Ideal location for beach lovers looking to lay low and relax. The ocean front rooms are really cozy and roomy and the staff are friendly and helpful. Fire pits, ping pong and bikes and beach gear are available to enjoy. Nightly wine/beer/soda reception is a nice touch as is the infused water available 24/7.

This hotel was nice but a few things I’d like to point out. First one being the service was pretty good, but could use some adjusting. I was told we could leave our luggage with the front desk and would receive a text when our room was ready. Unfortunately that text never came so we went to the beach for a few hours without any of our stuff. Not the end of end world, but would be nice to at of least gotten a text if our room was ready before 5pm so we could change comfortably. Secondly, I can’t express enough how disgusting the elevator smelled from the ground level to get into the lobby. Smelled like a mix of feces and vomit. Once you get into the lobby though it’s beautiful and smells great. Someone needs to look into that because it was unbearable. Lastly, the rooms are pretty basic for what you pay. I get the location is amazing but the rooms could use some TLC. The shower head was so powerful it hurt our skin. There are no outlets next to the bed which I found very strange. The TV would not let me watch cable unless I downloaded chrome cast to my phone. Aside that, seemed to be pretty clean and had a comfy bed. Overall, I’d say this is a nice hotel, but feel it could use a few tweaks. This was for our anniversary, I’d of hoped we could have gotten a better room with a nicer view but nonetheless enjoyed our stay.

Wow this place was excellent. Clean, cozy & hip. Staff was courteous and welcoming. Our room & restroom was spacious and comfortable. Lots of amenities. Great ocean view just outside the lounge to sit & have a drink. Was pet friendly and family friendly. Just a sharp place to stay. Will definitely be back.

This location is perfection! The front desk associate, Kel, was top tier in customer service! She went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was extra special. Also, shout out to Danny at the front desk who was also extremely helpful! These two are tremendous assets to this gem of a hotel! Social hour is super fun and free coffee was a wonderful start to my day! We can’t wait to return!

Google
We brought our dog, Mr. Pickles. Just so welcoming for all families and pets! Staff were amazing! Friendly, fun, laid back surf beach vibe. This resort should be rated as a 5 star resort! Highly recommended. We had a blast, and will definitely be back again. Mr. Pickles was a star at Huntington Beach. Thank you!

We absolutely love this hotel! It was decorated for the 4th of July, and we loved the flair. The smell throughout the hotel was so incredible, that I asked the staff at the front desk if it was a special scent. It is actually a 'signature' scent for this hotel, and it reminds you of a vacation, the beach, and a spa. The room we had, had a huge, deep bathtub, and we had the most incredible deck ever. You can't beat this location. Seriously. It is right across from the pier and the beach. Plus, it is parallel to Main Street, where all of the restaurants and shops are. ||Thank you to Omar M. for all you did to make our Anniversary so special. You rock.|Thank you to Adan for your recommendations. You're awesome.|Thank you to Kel for your spa/massage recommendations. You're awesome.

Yelp
Perfection is an illusion. With that said, Kimpton Shorebreak just may be the exception to the rule. This property met and exceeded any and all expectations. With close proximity to food, shopping, and beach access, what's not to love. Every staff member was helpful, kind, and attentive. The rooms are clean, well appointed, and comfortable. Upon our arrival, there was a Tuesday night street fair offering a myriad of great food, street performers, and vendors. Every night there is a social hour where you can enjoy an adult beverage or two if you choose. Or you can make S'mores over the fire pits in the courtyard. Finally , if you love music. In its central courtyard, the hotel plays an amazing blend of music spanning many genres and styles creating a vibe of relaxation and comfort. The hotel is dog friendly and kid friendly. If you find yourself in Huntington Beach and choose elsewhere, it would be regretful. Helpful hint; there is plenty of neighborhood parking surrounding the property if you don't want to utilize valet or the parking garage.

Yelp
The good: very clean, comfortably updated: nature in a modern geometric style. Rooms are clean. Coffee in the lobby mornings. They "lend" out beach towels, boogie boards, umbrellas, beach chairs all of which is quite handy. The court yard is attractive: tropical amidst geometric cement walled sitooteries. The restaurant is good & friendly. Parts overlook the pier. The coffee maker coffee is delicious! The bed is very nice. The service people do a good job cleaning daily. The bad: NOISY in afternoon until 10:00 pm when they close the courtyard. Meanwhile you can hear all the people through your bedroom windows. Our room looked up into the courtyard. We heard people while we were trying to watch tv. Quite annoying. Our room felt like we were in a basement because the floor of the courtyard was a bit above our floor. We had to keep The curtains shut a lot because people were walking by etc. $45 parking. (We used the street instead, though difficult to find a space). $40 entertainment fee (all the "free" food and beach supplies) They ran out of coffee in the lobby our first morning. The second morning there were all kinds of people refilling the coffee. Our room had no coffee maker in it until I thought to ask for one the next day. No pool. I'm 70. The valets did not offer to help carry the beach chairs back to the lobby. The man behind the counter in the lobby was quite surprised. And this man did not ask for my room number when I returned our beach stuff. N/A They offer free booze, sugared drinks, s'more fixins. Ping pong. Pets welcome. There's a record player in the room with a scratched record to play. There's apparently a record library somewhere; I never saw it. Our too Didn't come with a cute wooden surfboard "privacy please" doorknob hanger like other people on our hall had. I wish they'd offer healthier choices of food & drink. The pets were never a problem and were fun to see. If you like a lot of people noise & free drinks you'd probably give this place 5 stars.

Yelp
My husband and I were already fans of Kimpton hotels, but our stay at the Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach exceeded our expectations. We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the beach and the positive reviews from other pet owners. It is the pet friendliest hotel that we've been to. There is no pet fee. Expect to see at least two to five dogs around at once. They really made our dog feel like he was family and also like a celebrity. They took a Polaroid picture and put it on their VIP board with all the other dogs. At the end our stay, they gave us the photo with a bag with treats and a toy. My dog had the best time of his life at this hotel meeting and mingling with the hotel staff and guests. We booked a king suite with a balcony and a partial ocean view. The balcony was small, but it was big enough for my family to enjoy the beach view and watch the beautiful sunset. We loved the record player. You can borrow three other records at a time. Our room also had two TVs. Our king bed was comfy. I liked that the bathroom was spacious, and it also included a tub. Everything was clean. We liked the cold brew on tap in the morning. We didn't take advantage of the happy hour, but we liked the s'mores for a sweet treat at the end of the day. The restaurant in the hotel, Pacific Hideaway, had good food and cocktails. They also had a dog menu. The service was 5 stars from the start even when we called with questions prior to making our reservation. They were friendly and attentive from the valet to the lobby. I would definitely stay here again if I was looking for another local beach getaway.

Yelp
Just finished a nice long weekend getaway with the dog. We booked the Oceanview suite to take advantage of the spacious rooms and had a great time. There's a lot of neat little perks to this hotel. Extremely dog friendly Water station available all day Coffee available in the morning (complimentary) - I also saw some free pizza slices by the coffee bar Wine social hour (complimentary) S'mores kits to enjoy with their fire pits You can borrow items for the beach and also boards and bikes. Dog beds Vinyl records players with a library of vinyls ( the collection was okay had a lot of beach vibe type of albums ) + more Like this place thinks of everything. The stay was very pleasant and all the staff were very friendly to engage with. It's centrally located to the beach and pier along within walking distances of plenty of shops and restaurants in the area. I highly recommend this hotel if you're planning a beach getaway

Yelp
Really cute and quaint boutique hotel just steps from Huntington Beach and one block over from Downtown Huntington and the Huntington Pier. This location is awesome and walking distance to so many restaurants and bars. We did a quick staycation here and it was lovely. They have complimentary coffee in the mornings, and complimentary wine/beer and s'mores every evening around 5. They have plenty of lounge areas and firepits too in the lobby. Our room was cozy, though the walls were a bit thin. They were so nice though and sent up some complimentary cookies, rice crispy treats, and Prosecco for my birthday - with a handwritten note to boot!! These little touches are so meaningful and thoughtful, and really made our stay extra special.

Yelp
IHG hotel. we loved it here! super close to pier, it was seriously across the street. but the best thing about this hotel is super super dog friendly! no pet fees! there were so many pups here when we stayed, loved it! booked a king studio suite oceanfront. our view was looking at the pier/beach. the room was so nice! pretty spacious. as soon as we entered, we were greeted by cookies/rice krispies treats with a bottle of sparkling water. those treats were so good. the bathroom was really big too. love the shower. and they have a pretty big tub if like taking baths. they also have a lot of amenities. my fav is social hour from 5pm-6pm, free beer and free wine! can also rent bikes, boards for free! staff is also super nice. super accommodating. if i decide to stay in HB, i will def stay here again!

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel located in a perfect spot. Just walking distance from Shoppes Food Court's restaurant with live music on certain evenings. The staff is very commentating. The hotel is very clean. They take great care of you and your children and your puppies. They have beach accessories, mopheads for kids games to play with and even treats for your puppies in the lobby. Freshwater the hotel is top notch and the service is amazing.

Yelp
This location is centrally located by the peir. There is a permanent bar near the check in area and in the common area they are doing an amazing pop up ski lodge theme bar for a limited time only. I highly suggest checking this amazing location out not only for the hotel but this concept of the pop up was a super fun girls night out.

Yelp
Wow, where do I even begin with my experience at the Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach? This place now holds a special spot in my heart, especially during this transformative time of my life. After the adventure of bringing three beautiful babies into the world back to back, I had a tummy tuck. My body needed some serious R&R after such surgery. Enter my thoughtful and sweet husband, who booked me a stay at this gem of a hotel as I embarked on a journey of self-care and rejuvenation. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I was stepping into a dream. The staff, led by the ever-gracious Omar, made me feel like family from the get-go. Their genuine care and attention to detail made all the difference during my stay. My room was not only immaculate but also incredibly cozy, with a view of the pier. But it's not just the breathtaking views that make this place magical. The little touches make all the difference. Like sipping on the most heavenly cappuccinos in the lobby restaurant or cozying up by the fireplaces with a stack of s'mores for an evening treat--because let's be real, who says no to s'mores? And let's talk about convenience! Need to chill some drinks for a beach day? They've got you covered with ice coolers. Feeling the need to stretch and unwind? Just grab a yoga mat from your room and join the weekly classes on the deck. The 24-hour gym is a boon for those looking to maintain their fitness routine during their stay. The location is unbeatable, with Main Street just a walk around the corner. Whether it's strolling along the boardwalk or exploring the vibrant local scene, going to CVS, everything is right at your fingertips. There are weekly yoga classes on the deck, every detail is geared towards enhancing the guest experience. The 24-hour gym is a boon for those looking to maintain their fitness routine during their stay. In essence, the Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel isn't just a hotel--it's a haven. A sanctuary where every detail is meticulously crafted to ensure your stay is nothing short of perfection. I'm beyond grateful for the memories made here and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in need of a little beachside bliss.

Yelp
Amazing stay with our family of 6, in an ocean front view suite. We had cookies and a personalized welcome note waiting for us. This was a nice touch. The many amenities are fun. Beach towels, sand toys, beach blankets are available at the front desk to take to the beach. This makes things really easy. S'more kits are also available in the evening to enjoy around the fire. Parking was a bit rough, if you have a listed truck, back parking is available and will clear 8' ft but be careful 7' ft drop in underground parking area. Late check in is a + you can schedule an entire beach morning before checking out. Enjoy!

Yelp
It's definitely a boutique hotel with lots going for it. I had a view of the beach, the workout room isn't like the rest with rock wall climbing and the happy hour was appreciated on a long day after work. Fire pits in common spaces and movies projected onto the wall. The cocktail lounge in the area was really nice too. Pretty well priced for the area too tbh. Service was quick and accommodating and every employee I spoke to was so pleasant.

Yelp
I had a great experience here! I stayed for 2 nights for a work trip, the service was hospitable and friendly. My room was clean and I had a nice view. The overall vibe of this hotel is fun and upbeat. It's VERY conveniently located; walking distance to shops, bars, and the beach. I would 100% stay here during my next visit to HB!

Yelp
"The theme/aesthetic of this hotel is for retired 50 year old men who smoke weed and wake up hungover, eats cold pizza" - employee If you are looking for aesthetics and a vibe, this is the Kimpton to stay at. 6-10am: There is a complimentary coffee/hot chocolate bar. You have your option of hot coffee (reg or decaf), hot tea, or nitro cold brew. They also offer almond milk or regular dairy. You can find that across from the ping pong table. The hot chocolate bar is less obvious and you might not notice it coming off the elevator from the rooms. It comes with toppings and if you read their beautiful sign, 21+ adults get a special adult topper from the front desk, which is 2oz shot of 8 year aged rum. Ouuuuuu how my blood stream tingles! The best part, there is slices of cold pizza for your enjoyment on the adjacent table - it is part of the breakfast and they want you to eat it! 5-6pm: Social hour for complimentary beer/wine. I missed it, but I'm sure it is what you would normally expect. 5-10pm: Complimentary smores kit and they encourage you not to be shy and ask for more or seconds! There are multiple fire pits around the outdoors area, so you have options. Word dump: Bikes and surfboards are available as part of your stay. Free wifi, no password needed. Activities in the main lobby. 24 hour gym with a rock climbing wall. Self parking entrance is on 6th and valet is right out front. Pacific Hideaway is the restaurant/bar on site that also offers happy hour. Good selection for drinks and reasonably priced. During the Dec month, there is the Pier Summit Ski Lodge 80s theme bar popup from Wed-Sat 5-10pm. They don't tell you that the noise is loud and echos, especially if you have a room facing the courtyard. But at 10pm, they close sharply and kick everybody out. Lots of kids are here. Families - so expect loud noises and tiny humans running into you. Dog friendly, so expect dogs everywhere. Conveniently located right off PCH, so you get the beach steps away from the hotel entrance. Aesthetically pleasing everywhere and photo ready. The lobby bathrooms have a lock, and you'll need a code. Complimentary water all day (and some fruit infused). King bed was comfortable, minus the floppy pillows (but that is with most hotels). The king suite was spacious and even had a pull out bed. Don't touch anything in the mini fridge or the snacks/drinks left out for your convenience. The sticker shock alone might give you a small heart attack. The hotel literally is on top of a CVS, so just go downstairs. Bathroom had a walk in shower, as well as a tub. Front desk staff were friendly and had no issues getting additional toiletries. The DND door sign is super cute, but easy to get caught in the door and snap. Parking tip: Go with the valet option for 45$ a night because you get in and out privileges. The self parking at 36$ a night is per entry, so everything you leave and re-enter, you'll have to pay that fee. If you did self parking, you can hand your ticket and keys over to the valet and they do a swap, and you just pay the 45$ a night instead. There is a number to text when you're ready for your car and the service works fantastic. Otherwise, it was a great stay and the hotel had everything you needed or you were steps away from it. Fantastic location for being steps from Huntington Beach Pier.

Yelp
I found out about this hidden gem through the OC Yoga Festival pre-pandemic. There are so many conference rooms and let me tell you, it is very suitable for large groups and the sound is excellent. Not much has changed. Checked in by an informative Hunter who gave the inside scoop on the social events and parking breakdown along with the s'mores pack later in the evening AND assistance on the requested Nespresso! The aroma was heavenly once put to use. Guess it really is a compact tasting of Italy. Got a two bedroom suite and the rooms were much larger than expected AND THERE WAS A PRIVATE BALCONY. So obviously, this is the best booking ever! Plenty of amenities with a record player and robes for comfort but USE THE DYSON HAIRDRYER BECAUSE IT WILL CHANGE YOUR HAIR LIFE. Never has it looked so shiny, unfrizzled, and put together. I mean I thought I was happy with my Conair but obviously known better now Thanks to David for mailing off the postcards for me and I was impressed with how Hunter did such a quick checkout! All and all, one of the best stays because of the food, amenities and available services. Already planned our next trip back this morning... UPDATE: Gotta also shout out to Spencer and Kris as well as Danny and Helen. Forgot to mention that you can have an ongoing text thread while there if you needed anything or had questions. And email too!!

Yelp
Four night stay with the family. Great location to the pier, beach, Main Street restaurants. Hptel has a great vibe & many amenities. Our room faced the courtyard. Loved the music & appreciated the fact that at 10pm sharp the tunes stopped and no lingering guests chatting. It was quiet! We took advantage of the valet parking as we left the hotel multiple times/day. Our room was spacious enough for us, loved the huge shower. Rest of the family had rooms with tubs, which was perfect for the little kids. The only thing that I didn't like was the "smell" that was piped into the lobby. After an extended time spent in the lobby, the smell gave me a headache. Hotel stay was great overall.

Yelp
I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in huntington beach area. Their views are amazing. Their location is amazing. Their ambiance, service, and overall cleanliness is amazing. The only thing is that parking my sprinter was difficult if I couldn't park it in front. But this was an amazing staycation for my family.

Yelp
Beautiful Hotel and great location, but don't leave anything behind. I forgot my bikini in the room, went back the next day and housekeeping didn't turn it in! How gross and low for such a nice hotel.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for a true beach hotel, this is it. They have all the accommodations. The restaurant is good. The views are incredible. The room is great. They have a bunch of things to do too, which I thought was pretty neat.

Yelp
Waited 30 minutes in line for towels for beach. Only 1 person behind desk on Labor Day weekend. Ridiculous

Yelp
Loved everything about our stay here. The location is perfect, staff beyond friendly and helpful, great drinks, incredibly fun and lively atmosphere. Record player in the room was so cool, and having our pup be so welcomed was such a treat!!! We also brought our bikes with us, and the staff was kind enough to find us a place to lock them up safely when we weren't using them. Felt so taken care of on our weekend away from the city, and cannot wait to come back to visit again!!!

Yelp
This hotel was great. Was here for a two day meeting. Location, food, vibe... all great. Feels professional yet beachy. Something for everyone. Bonus for comfy beds and all the little extras like umbrella, Cooler, yoga mat, and beach supplies.

Yelp
Best killer Kimpton ever. Upscale amenities with a modern surf vibe. Location Loco ~ Hotel in the center of main street, step out into the restaurant & bar scene. One minute walk to the world famous Huntington Beach Pier right across the highway ~ watch locals rip some curls on the surf, beach shoreline as far as the I can see. Sweet Suite ~ 200 sq. ft. Outdoor oceanview balcony! Large soaking tub was truly large. Record player to Dyson hair dryer. Just an awesome room. Kimpton Bikes ~ This free rental is a must! Cruise the paved beach pathway for miles and miles. The views are amazing! Take the bike to cruise around downtown. Killer Courtyard ~ Outdoor patio chillaxing with sandpits & firepits. Pups chillin everywhere ;) Other Amenities ~ Plush robes, MIRROR inside the gym was cool, free beach essentials to use, s'mores nightly. Service was outstanding! Felt like Kimpton again before the IHG takeover. Personal & intentional in their accomodations before we checked in. The beach shirt uniforms a nice touch. The afternoon social hour serving two different local beer taps & chilled wines was the best we have seen amongst the Kimpton hotels. Too much to do in & out of the hotel. One of our best vacation stays ever!

Yelp
Mixed feelings about this place! Beautiful hotel. Great location, walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, beach (like one block). They have bikes and surfboards available. Coffee service in the morning was great! Valet right in front, super convenient. Staff awesome, really nice, helpful and accommodating. And the restaurant in the lobby is really good! So 5 stars for all of that. But the court yard club was so loud, almost like the party was in my room from 5-10pm, so that part was terrible. If you are not in your room, and don't care about sleep before 10, this place is for you! Rooms were also really small, like bed, small desk and barely enough room to put luggage. I had a handicap bathroom (which I really didn't want) so that was super ugly, but guessing regular bathrooms are maybe cool.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our stay here. There is a plethora of things to do in Huntington Beach.. and this hotel make sure you are with an excess of all of them There are selection and final at the front desk which you can take to your room so you can play any of the old tunes you'd like. The rooms and hotel are set up with a very surf. Y vibe.. they even supply you with what you need to make s'mores in the fire pits at night. And of course they have blankets which on California night she definitely need. They have bikes you can borrow to cruise around Huntington Beach on a whim, or within a short, two minute walk to the beach, and also a great coffee shop on the corner. The rooms are comfortable. You can even get one overlooking the water. I thought the restaurant in the hotel was great for breakfast and lunch, my only challenge was the valet staff. They were not skilled at customer service, or knowing how to handle somebody that was a guest from out of town that is the reason for the four star review instead of five. .

Yelp
PIER SUMMIT SKI LODGE THIS PLACE IS SEASONAL: The place looked very interesting, but I would check it out if only for the drinks. To be clear, you are paying for an experience, so cocktails are slightly more expensive than normal. It 'snows' on the inside to give off the 80's ski trip vibe that you've seen in movies. There is a little camera thing that lets you look for a drink, but I have no idea what it is called. My favorite drink was Feeling Nippy, which I could have had six of without even realizing that I had alcohol in them. It was served in a frozen glass slightly larger than a shot glass, which allowed it to remain cold for the entire time. It was mixed with bulleit rye, gifford framboise, ginger syrup, lemon juice, 1 dash angostura bitters and I'm not a fan of bitters but it was so damn delicious. I wish I could relive this drink. We moved on to the Don't Eat Yellow Snow this damn drink will either put hair on your chest or remove it. Do not let the fact it comes with honey build you into a false sense of security cause you'd be horribly wrong. It comes with tanqueray gin, honey syrup, lemon juice, ancho reyes chile liqueur, dash firewater tincture (two shots). It gives off college frat house fire ball and we've all been there rather good or bad. Let's be honest it is always bad. However, I would definitely return to this place again. It does get busy say maybe go for drinks then dinner or early dinner and evening drinks. I do not think this place will be here past the New Year, however.

Yelp
First, I'll begin with the staff. Upon checking in Omar went far and above the call of duty to get the room we wanted, we had a slight booking problem but he straightened everything out and we got even a better room than we expected, Danny and Vanessa were also amazing in assisting us. We stayed in an oceanfront room that was amazing, they offer many amenities for a day at the beach or if you are hanging out at Hotel they offer games, ping pong and smores for the fire pits also they have in house restaurant and everyday at 5pm they offer happy hour with free drinks and appetizers, also morning coffee and snacks. We had an amazing stay and they were very accommodating. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We had a great time! This is a must for the holidays ~~ such an 80s vibe. I haven't seen any place quite as unique as this place.

Yelp
Beautiful facility, great location with friendly staff, BUT...... If you require internet perhaps stay away until they get it sorted out. Checked in with the desk three times for an update, no improvement as of yet. Book two rooms. Oceanfront for ourselves, regular room for the kids. If you like sleep, save your money and book a regular room. Facing the ocean comes with being almost overtop of a four lane racetrack between the hotel and beach. Very very loud. If I was in a quite room and had internet for $400 a night I could give this place a 5/5 unfortunately that is not the case this week.

Yelp
Prior to my experience at the Shorebreak, I've stayed at the Hyatt Regency and Pasea. Shorebreak is almost half the rate of the other two hotels, but with that comes some compromise. Their rooms need a major refresh and I'm certain they've gone untouched as far as upgrades go since the hotel was first built in 2009 - 14 years ago. In our King Studio Suite, we had cracked tiles on the bathroom floor, dirty drapes, stains and marks on the white painted night stands and the alarm clock was caked with filth. I was able to look past these flaws due to the price we paid but just know this hotel is not on par with the other three major hotels on the strip (Pasea, Hilton, Hyatt), BUT it offers a great value for being right in front of the beach and walking distance to everything (CVS, restaurants, shopping, night life). Some highlights of the hotel that helped makeup for the drab rooms were: No pet fees for furry companions, complimentary coffee and tea (6-10am), Social Hour in the lobby (free wine or beer 5-6pm), and nightly fireside s'mores around the outdoor fire pits to name a few. You can tell they encourage mingling and community vibes. Additionally, all the staff are so friendly and awesome. We really liked the cozy intimate feel of the hotel as it's more "boutique" than the others. All around, if you can see past certain room aesthetics and plan on being away from your room more than in (beach, sightseeing, etc.) this hotel offers a great value in a prime location.

Yelp
Just got off the phone with John and then Robin. I had called to change my reservation from ocean view to non ocean view because I had read a review that the traffic on PCH was noisy. John said that the rates had gone up and the non ocean view was the same price, $436. I questioned that and he said he could get me a better senior rate at $419 with oceanview and balcony stating that it really wasn't that noisy. Then a price of $411.35 was mentioned. I said it was confusing and got disconnected from John. I called back and spoke to Robin and said I wanted the ocean view balcony room that was my original room. She said she couldn't guarantee that. WTH. She was also rude and condescending about it so I cancelled. I was so looking forward to this. Terrible customer service.

Yelp
We had the very best dining experience at Shorebreak. Our server was Shaeye and she was above and beyond amazing. We are so grateful that our last weekend in Huntington Beach was spent with her and Shorebreak!! Thank you!!!

Yelp
My wife and I visited the Kimpton Shorebreak this past weekend and absolutely loved it. The hotel has the best pet policy we have ever seen. Not many hotels will welcome our 80lb bulldog and he was showered with pets and treats as soon as we arrived. The location is great! Right across from the beach and within walking distance of plenty of restaurants and bars. The restaurant at the hotel also has great food and an amazing drink menu. I cannot say enough good things about our stay. I strongly recommend visiting and we will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Definitely a cute and clean hotel! We were in town for a wedding and this hotel was close enough to the venue and pacific city that it was a good location for us. They are close to a CVS, liquor store, and most importantly-the beach! Cool outdoor courtyard are with games like life-sized chess, foosball, corn hole, and I think a few others too. Very nice bar. Our room / stay came with a free drink voucher for the bar. Very kind staff. One of the nights I ordered an Uber eats and the staff walked outside with me so I didn't have to walk out alone.

Yelp
Great place, amazing staff, excellent location. The only thing I would say is how I was charged at the hotel. Not necessarily the hotel's fault, it seems that I was charged twice for the extra fees. I wish there could have been more clarity on that final invoice. Otherwise, great time.

Yelp
When work beats me up and I feel defeated. I pack up my bags, grab my husband and my two fur babies and book a weekend stay at the Shorebreak. Hotel offers valet parking in and out service at $35 a night. Check in time is at 4:00 p.m. and check out time is at 12:00 p.m. If you're an IHG member, they normally check you in earlier and check you out later depending on availably. I like to show up to the hotel early and let the front desk know I have arrived. If they do not have a room ready for me, I leave my bags with them and take a walk to the dog beach. The dog beach is 1 mile away from the hotel and the pier is literally across the street. ---- This cute hotel that my whole family loves is located at the perfect location. You can rent bikes, beach chairs, yoga mats for free. After 5pm you can get free wine/beer in the lobby for happy hour. The front desk also provides you with smores package for you to enjoy smores by the fire pits.

Yelp
My company had an employee getaway weekend. We are headquartered in Ontario and we vacationed in my hometown of HB. My 3-minute drive to the hotel was welcomed on a Friday afternoon. Staff was friendly and efficient and this boutique hotel was definitely to our liking. Only one restaurant/bar, no pool, no jacuzzi, no spa, but we still had a great time. The rooms are small but well equipped, modern and comfortable. They cater to dogs here.... and there were a lot of them. Even a fancy dog supply store across the street. Free happy hour beers and s'mores at night in their fire pits. My only complaint is about the fire alarms. Somebody was smoking weed in their room and the alarm went off three times Friday night. It also went off once Saturday night. This was a huge annoyance.

Her customer service was phenomenal....you just don't find service like this anymore. Thank you Kris and the rest of the team for making out stay incredible.

Yelp
Honestly the most horrible stay I've had in my entire life! Did a staycation here with a couple of girl friends for a birthday and for the price I paid for one night I will have to say I am quite disappointed. First of all they have a bunch of college kids running the front desk of this hotel so the level of professionalism is not there some were on their phones when I checked in. Valet is $35.... $35!!! Valet is also ran by a bunch of college kids on their phones and playing music out loud and games on their phones while we wait for our car to be brought around back. The room itself is on the smaller side but the bathroom is nice. Matter fact the bathroom is bigger than the room. Plus they don't have a pool or jacuzzi. They have fire pits but they shut them off at 10pm so there's basically nothing to do after 10pm at this hotel. But what pissed me off the most is They then charged my card after I checked out for 2 water bottles $17. They also authorized another $50 and $100 charge. This hotel gives free water in the lobby, why the hell would I pay $17 for water? They charged me for $35 resort fee that they never disclosed. All the hotels I've been to upon check in they inform you of it and you can pay upfront or they can bill you at the end. They don't just simply help themselves to your credit card. I don't recommend staying at this hotel, if you're in the area you're better off staying at Pasea or Hilton down the street. They call themselves a resort but they don't don't provide the quality or service to back up that claim in my opinion.

Yelp
We have stayed here for years . Last weekend we decided to go for three days for a birthday gift . The view is absolutely beautiful and the location couldn't be better . The indifference of the front desk is very off putting . It's a job for them to smile or give a simple answer to a simple question . Room service is bare minimum . When we checked out the kid asked my husband if he needed help loading the luggage . Mind you , we are in our 70s , no one else was there and he went three feet away and stood at the valet desk while my husband loaded several bags himself . I'm I expecting too much ?

Yelp
Had an amazing time here!! The location is amazing with the beach just right across the street, and super close to tons of different shops and restaurants. Everyone we interacted with at the hotel was extremely helpful and friendly and the hotel itself felt very safe and clean. I loved the family atmosphere and the free s'mores, free drinks for social hour, free coffee, free bikes, the restaurant, and my whole experience overall. Also, one of my favorite parts was seeing all the dogs in the lobby, since it is a dog friendly hotel. Can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
Wanted to surprise my SO with a night out and a room (but nearby) and this place was recommended. My wife says after staying "You found our new place." Kris at the front desk (whom is downright AMAZING) made us feel like old friends as opposed to new customers. In minutes we both felt so comfortable and were so excited to try all the amenities we booked an extra night on the spot....and we are SO glad we did!! 25 minutes from home but service and scenery like you're in a fancy Hawaiian hotel. Incredible place to stay.

Yelp
Did kylee and Jason's paint and wine class and this class is fun and hilarious. Jokes and a good time all night long would recommend

Yelp
This is our go to staycation place! This trip was extremely fun. They have created a pop up bar that is themed as a snow lodge in their courtyard. They offer some cool cocktails and shareable meals like fondue. Make sure to have a shot-ski and you will be surprised. We highly recommend checking out this new addition.

Yelp
My family and I love this property. They welcome our great pyrenees and we all love their lobby and courtyard area with the fide pits and games. We also love the are and often borrow bikes to ride by the beach. We look forward to our visits to this hotel.

Yelp
Helen the manager saved this from being a three star review. The front office staff is very helpful, they offer beach amenities and bike rentals. Which we took advantage of! The fire alarm went off 3 times during our stay, idk who is smoking @ 7:30am but it was a nuisance during our moms getaway. Helen was compassionate listening to our grievances. Last note, there's no pool.

Yelp
If you're in dire need of the ultimate beach vacation experience, look no further than Kimpton Shorebreak in Huntington Beach. This place is an absolute paradise, offering stunning ocean views, cozy accommodations, and service that will make you feel like royalty. Let me take you through my recent stay, where the shining star of exceptional customer service was none other than JT, the bar maestro who made my experience unforgettable. When it comes to dining, Kimpton Shorebreak has you covered. The Pacific Hideaway is a fantastic option, offering a delightful atmosphere and mouthwatering dishes. While JT's expertise may lie behind the bar, I have no doubt that the culinary offerings at the restaurant are equally as impressive. Treat yourself to their delectable steak and eggs--it's an absolute must-try. I can't stress enough how highly I recommend Kimpton Shorebreak. With its prime location, impeccable service, and fantastic amenities, it's the ideal destination for a romantic getaway or a memorable vacation. I'm already eagerly anticipating my fifth stay, eager to bask in all the incredible experiences this hotel has to offer. A heartfelt thank you to JT for making my stay truly exceptional. Cheers to the perfect beachside retreat!
