The Best Pizza Restaurants in Chicago

"Kim’s Uncle Pizza serves the same tavern-style pizza that Pizza Fried Chicken Ice Cream served in Bridgeport. Super crispy and with premium toppings, this is artisan Chicago style. The pizzeria was purchased by the Marszewskis, the family behind Maria’s Community Bar and Marz Community Brewing. Family members have fond memories of working at the pizzeria as teens and now have the means to give suburban Westmont destination-worthy pizza." - Ashok Selvam, Eater Staff

"Kim’s Uncle Pizza serves the same pizza that Pizza Fried Chicken Ice Cream did when operations neighbored Maria’s Community Bar in Bridgeport. Moving to Westmont, it’s one of the best restaurants in the suburbs, a tiny spot that specializes in carryouts. This pizza has received national write-ups." - Ashok Selvam, Eater Staff

Where to Eat Out During Ramadan Around Chicago

"This tavern-style pizza destination in suburban Westmont is known for its delectable, super-crispy pies loaded with premium toppings — the same pizzas once served at shuttered Bridgeport spot Pizza Fried Chicken Ice Cream. Google
Tavern style pizza at its finest. I ordered sausage and giardiniera, and it was absolutely delicious. The thin cracker crust, with delicious combination of sausage and heat from the giardiniera is *chefs kiss.* I only rated the atmosphere 3 stars because it’s not really meant for a dine-in experience as the place is tiny. So get your pizza to go, and enjoy!

Google
Thought I would try this establishment out due to highly recommended reviews on Facebook. I would say the pizzas are visually presentable, quite thin crust, about cracker thin. Has plenty of cheese and sauce. If toppings are added they do add quite a good portion. Although all these solid positives are present. The fact that the pizza sauce is rather strong on seasoning with black pepper that overpowers any other flavors of the pizza. I would say this isn't a go to pizza for me in the future and honestly would not reccomend the pizza to anyone I know. If I had to compare the flavor (minus the pepper) I would compare it to Marcos pizza in similarity. Hopefully they can fine tune the sauce more. On another note, calling in the order was quite difficult. And took some time and multiple dead calls(no room for hold) till I was able to get through to then be put on hold. They need an upgraded phone system to accommodate for high call volume

Google
Some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. Great flavor, amazing crust. Cannot wait to go again!

Google
Great pizza. Tons of toppings, sweet sauce and crispy undercarriage. I ordered at 3 and made it for 5. Walked in exactly at 5 and the pizza was ready. No joke as I'm walking out, two guys walked in and one was Dave Portnoy. Hope he gives Kim's uncle a great review!!!!

Google
Absolutely delicious! Tavern style, super crispy crust, friendly staff. Call an hour before they open and place your pick up order. They’ll let you know what time you can get it. Yes, it’s that busy and good! Pepperoni, mushroom and hot honey drizzle.

Google
Delicious pizza, though it was a bit well done, but I'd go back. Service was fast calling it in and ready immediately when they said it would be. Atmosphere is small and "limited" so plan accordingly for pick ups.

Google
Incredible pizza! In the pantheon of tavern style with my other favorites Vito’s and Nicks and Candlelite. Drove an hour and worth it. Service was awesome and can’t recommend it more to folks. Got hot honey/soppresseta and Italian Beef/Giardinera. Everything cooked perfectly and flavorful.

Google
You won’t find a better Chicago tavern pizza in the suburbs than this place. They hold their own ranking among the best known tavern pizza places in Chicago. I’d say they might be better than some of them. Definitely a must try for any real Chicago pizza lover. Thin, crispy, well-done cooked to perfection. Will definitely go back. They are definitely in my top 3 favorites but definitely the best in the 630.

Yelp
If you love tavern-style pizza, Kim's Uncle Pizza in Westmont is an absolute gem! We ordered the pepperoni pizza with hot honey and wow -- this pie delivered on every level. The crust is that perfect ultra-thin, cracker-style that stays crisp to the last bite. The pepperoni is plentiful and just the right amount of crispy on the edges. But the real star is that hot honey drizzle -- it brings the perfect balance of sweet heat and really elevates the whole experience. Be warned -- this place is super popular and they only make a limited number of pizzas each night. The phones start ringing right at 4pm and they can sell out fast, so definitely call early to get your order in. It's carry-out only with a couple small tables, but this is the kind of pizza that's worth enjoying anywhere! Highly recommend if you're in the area or even if you have to make a bit of a drive. One of the best pizzas I've had in the Chicago suburbs! Will definitely be back!!

Yelp
This place is a different take than your average pizza joint. It gives you old school carryout vibes and small seating but honestly it works. Only 2 small booths to sit at with some seating outside behind the restaurant. Came here after hearing great things from people in this part of town. This is about a 35 minute drive for me, but I figured it was worth a try. Service was good, people behind the counter were very eager to explain the story and tell us how it all started. We ordered the Halal pepperoni pie and it was exactly what we imagined it to be. About 20-25 mins for the pizza to come out. Extremely thin and crispy that pictures just don't do justice. It was cooked perfectly and didn't make you feel like you over eat because you could just do that, keep eating! The only part about this experience that I was not expecting was the entire pie was a little salty, it could've been the sauce or the pepperoni or maybe even a mix of both. I still enjoyed it. If you are in the area and are looking for a thin pie, I would highly recommend this! Halal pepperoni is a huge plus.

Yelp
Finally got the chance to try this place out. My friend called in the order and stated he had to call at least 10 times before he was able to get through to place the order. Then, there was about an hour and a half wait. We tried 4 pies, and they were pretty tasty. My favorite was the sausage, followed by the Italian beef. Others in our group enjoyed the hot honey and pepperoni, but I found that one to be pretty greasy. They only have 2 small booths inside which are cramped. It was nice day so we were able to sit on the picnic tables in the back. If you have the patience to keep calling, give them a shot!

Yelp
My fiance tenaciously planned to get us dinner from here on a Friday night; they open their phone line for orders at 3 pm and he said he had to call 28 times to get through and then was put on a five minute hold, but he did succeed! Takeout is pretty much the way as there are only two tables in the restaurant, so if you don't live in Westmont, bring an insulated bag or find a park to picnic in! The food was definitely worth it: the pizza crust was crisp yet chewy with spicy little pepperoni all over the surface, and the cheesy bread was a nice balance of the ingredients. We didn't even get to the meatballs because we were too full! Lunch tomorrow. Overall, it's worth a little effort to try this pizza. Would return.

Yelp
The sauce, ratio of ingredients, and texture is unparalleled. Best thin crust Chicago style pizza you can get in the state. The only caveat is the wait time. If you're calling after 4pm prepare to pick up closer to 7 or later. Their sandwiches are also goated. Some may say it's not worth the wait, but if you're serious about pizza, you'll be impressed.

Yelp
Pizza maven out in the pizza wasteland known as Chicago. While some of the pies here have become well known (like Malinatti's, Giordano's, & Uno) they all tend to suck for one reason or another. Last night, however, the stereotype of bad Chicago style pizza (the tavern type, not the crap referred to as deep dish) was smashed with a visit to Uncle Kim's Pizza. I ordered two pies; a plain cheese & a Chicago beef with giardiniera (both 14", the only size available.) yes, the wait is long between ordering & actually receiving your pizza, but in the end, it is SO worth it. So be patient & don't knock the process, just enjoy the end result. The cheese had the right stretch & snap, the sauce was over-the-top excellent; one of the best anywhere (when I walked into Uncle Kim's, I took notice that the smell in the air was dead-on what I look for in a pizzeria. The smell of quality tomato sauce.). The plain cheese was the best tavern style pie I ever had. While the crust IS cracker-like, it worked as a great vehicle for the toppings. It had flavor and enough texture to blend perfectly with the toppings. The Chicago beef pizza will stay with me awhile. One of the greatest pizzas I ever encountered. This boy from Brooklyn has had his moment of Chicago pizza self-actualization realized. Thank you, Uncle Kim, for showing me the light in the darkness that is Chicagoland pizza. You are an asset to the pizza world. Uncle Kim's; one of the best. Fughedaboudit!!!

Yelp
What that hell is going on with this place?! It is not that good, just pizza... why are people raving about it? Again, JUST PIZZA!

Yelp
Reality check. I read the reviews. I looked at the posted pictures. Looks like my type of pie! Here's the scoop. Unfortunately, the pizza looks much better than it tastes. I called shortly after 3pm, and the call was answered immediately- no wait - and I asked a critical question: is your sausage made in house or do you purchase it from a distributor? This is a key factor because I'm a thin crust pizza/sausage connoisseur. Pizzeria's that make their sausage in house are few and far between. Roberto's in Elmhurst and Vito and Nicks in Chicago, for example. So, the voice on the phone said it was made by someone else but it was a proprietary recipe just for them. Plausible. Anyway, after arriving and getting our pie it was the moment of truth. It looked outstanding! Crispy, and super thin. Then I took a bite.....no way this sausage is not commercial. Sorry for the double negative. I would bet it's from Greco meats, who provide sausage to virtually every pizza place in the city. Bland. The crust was so thin it actually had a little different taste and texture than what I would expect. I'm glad I tried it, but will not return. Just not my thing.

Yelp
Updated review: We tried again on a weekday and it took 68 calls (ALWAYS starting at 3pm) to get through and submit my order. The pain is real, but the pizza is good. Wish there was an easier way. Still 4.5 stars, and we love the sausage the most.

Yelp
Updating my review. After ordering a second time, my wife was able to weigh in. We both loved this pizza. Since my original review I've learned Kim's Uncle was - mentioned in the Chicago Tribune in, I believe, 2021 title Top 25 New Restaurants in Chicago. - Mentioned in the New York Times in an article by Kenji Lopez-Alt. - Mentioned by Kenji in his youtube video about Chicago tavern style thin crust pizza. It's worth the extra effort of planning ahead when ordering a pizza. Call at 3:00. Get on the schedule. They almost always sell out, so don't just drop in, nor call last minute. It won't work. Again. It's worth it. i

Yelp
Kim Uncle is in my top five, maybe even top three pizza's I've ever had. You HAVE to call at three and pick your preferred pick up time. If you don't get through, keep calling, it is worth the effort! Sausage is great, pepperoni is one of the best and the hot honey is worth a try!
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure about there being anchovies in the sauce anymore. There used to be a disclaimer stating that when you ordered from toasttab, but they stopped the ability to order through there and I see nothing referencing it on their website‍.

Yelp
Been on my list for a while and it definitely didn't disappoint. Some of the best Tavern Style Pizza in Chicagoland. The folks on the phone were nice enough to fit me in on what was a very busy night (seems like every night). Pizza was served exactly when they said it would be in their retro wood paneled dining room. Great ingredients and perfectly cooked. I had sausage onions and anchovies. Friendly staff and convenient parking.

Yelp
Pizza was really delicious. I believe the secret to their science is butter. This results in the pizza crust literally tasting like a cracker in addition to being cracker thin it's not without its faults as I could've gone without the pepperoni portion of the pizza because it's was way too salty. I also think it's merely garlic salt as opposed to real garlic. Nonetheless this ranks amongst chicago lands best tavern style but I wish it were closer to the city

robert d.

Yelp
My buddy is a food critic. Invited him over for some pizza and video games like old times and didn't tell him where the pizza was from. After a few bites he said this was better than Vito and nicks and asked what it was. We both will be ordering again. We got 3 pizzas and all were great but I think the sausage is the winner.
google avatar

Kyle L.

Yelp
Sadly, we will be giving up on this place. 5 times in the area and tried to order a pizza. Last two times they told me it would be almost 3 hour wait. Called right at 3 when they begin taking orders and left again with nothing. Oh well. Have lived in Italy, NY, and Chicago and no pizza is worth this.
google avatar

Yelp
I grew up in the area, and still miss deliziosa's pizza in downtown Clarendon hills which closed in the early 2000's. Kim's uncle is by far the best thin crust pizza I've had since then. It's 100% worth all the hype. Due to the nature of the oven and limited number of pizzas they are able to cook simultaneously the wait time can be longer than other pizza joints. So order early and often, It's worth the wait! what should I expect you ask, "The best dam pizza you've ever had!"
google avatar

Ben B.

Yelp
People love this place, so I'm just spitting into the wind with my negative opinion. I don't understand the allure of Kim's Uncle at all. For the crust, imagine a circle of cardboard, completely drenched in grease. Like, if you had a circle of cardboard and you pushed it down into a sink full of grease. On top of that, add the absolute bare minimum of cheese and sauce. Biting into Kim's Uncle Pizza feels like eating the single greasiest cracker ever created. Like if you took a tortilla chip and rubbed fried chicken all over it. My tongue recoils the minute a slice of this pizza hits it. The pizza will be freezing cold within 5 minutes out of the oven because it's so thin. I truly don't understand why people like it.

Alex P.

Yelp
Best thin crust pizza in the burbs. Period. Crust is a delicacy, just perfection there. 4 cheeses used to make their cheese. Sauce is good. Hot soppressata is fantastic. And great service and people, they know my order right when I call, I feel like a friend every time I walk in for my pickup

Yelp
We ordered here for the first time tonight after everyone kept telling us how great it was. It's very small, so don't plan to eat in. They start taking orders at 3, they're swamped on the weekends; however, I was able to get a pickup time of 5:55 on a Tuesday. I ordered half pepperoni and half sausage and green olives, and they accidentally put green peppers on instead. Luckily, I noticed before I got to the car. I hate when I have to return something, as usually someone gets yelled at. I was surprising my husband, though, and his favorite topping is green olives (yeah, I don't understand it, either.) The staff were AMAZING and promptly (and cheerfully) made a new pizza with the correct toppings. No one got snippy or upset in the least, and no one got yelled at. Waiting for the new pizza, it was obvious it's a positive work environment and the staff get along. Aside from the stellar customer service, the pizza was really good and lived up to the hype. They asked if I wanted the original pizza, so I took it and gave it to the neighbors' teenaged boys. They loved it! And now you have several new customers!

Yelp
Had the pizza for the first time last week. We had a pepperoni and sausage. Love the thin crust and the sausage was sooo good. The pepperoni was good too but a bit too salty. My husband is a salt lover and he even said it was a bit much. Wanted to try the meatball sammich but they didn't have it. Tried the sausage sammich with hot giardiniera. It was good too, bread was delish. The long wait time doesn't make for an early dinner but would order again when time doesn't matter.

Pam W.

Yelp
Nostalgic old storefront takeout pizzeria with one booth. Menu consists of one size of pizza and about six sandwiches. Pizza crust is cracker crisp perfect, but the positives end there. Sauce is too spicy with too strong an herbal tang. Sausage is generous but also over-spiced. Cheese is barely discernible. Four different pizzas, five diners, and not a one of us liked any of the pizzas. Falco's, Zazzo's, and Chesdan's (Homer Glen) have this place beat to pieces. Added significant cheese to leftovers, and it helped mask the bitter sauce, but we won't go back. Disappointed - we had heard they were voted best of something. Must be best of one! Either that or the voters had never visited another pizzeria.

Yelp
The best tavern style. Simple menu. Intense flavors. Crunch. Superb. Love. Love. Love.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best tavern-style pizzas I've had! I got pepperoni, giardiniera, and honey for toppings, and it was incredible--super thin and crispy, just perfect. A heads-up to order early, though; I waited a little over an hour for pickup. Worth the wait for such a great pizza!
google avatar

Karen G.

Yelp
Ordered 2 pizzas - one sausage and red pepper, one pepperoni only. Order pickup was on time and people were friendly. I was surprised how thin the crust was- I would call it " cracker crust" than tavern style Best sausage I've ever had on pizza. Tender and tasty . I mean it - best sausage EVER! Pepperoni pizza was really salty. The serving of pepperoni was very generous.
google avatar

Yung K.

Yelp
Not much to say about the ambiance, since its a very small place - I was there with 2 other customers, and it was a bit too crowded for my taste. Maybe 5 people can wait there, but then someone will get sick from the crowd. Its a small space, but enough for 2 tables, maybe can fit 4 people each. There is a picnic table outside, just next to the public car park, so if its a nice day, you can eat there...just beware of people inquiring and asking for a slice...like what happened to me at my home building. (lol, they were joking, but...I am selfish like that, so stay away from my pizza!). Service was good - no wait staff, but a nice lady was there, taking orders, and giving them out to us customers for pick up (I don't think they have delivery or online order services) - she might be strictly business, but pleasant to deal with. One of the three guys there, gave me my pies after paying via credit card. BTW, she specifically told me payment via credit card, though I heard from elsewhere they do take cash but must bring exact change. They are really set up for credit card, so go with that. And tip them decently too, if you would. Yeah, again, no wait staff, but the great pies are worth it, to me, at least. Paying for just the food and no tip will get you out the door, but won't help support your friendly neighborhood pizzeria, so tip whatever you can afford. Food? I ordered, in my inaugural order, 2 pies: one with cheese & pepperoni, and sausage & mushroom. The former I am not so thrilled with, but its a matter of choice of pepperoni - I guess I though it was either too salty, or a bit strong in its taste. But that doesn't mean the pizza itself is bad, as the sausage & mushroom was lovely - not too salty and tasted really nice, even cold. Crust is very thin and crispy, nothing like other pizzas I had in the so-called tavern style. Cheese was sufficient, but since I am the type who loves alot of cheese, it could use more. And the sauce is not bad either. The pizza holds up pretty decently, even when eating it cold. Not optimal when nuking it, but will do well putting it in the oven or air fryer. Comparing it to Lou Malnati's thin, well, Kim's is thinner but still holds its crispiness better. And tastes better too. Lou's thin is a bit bland in comparison. Will definitely come back - not a fan of the pepperoni, though that's strictly a personal preference, but will go again with the sausage & mushroom, and will try the cheese only. And I just ate my last two pieces of pepperoni right now, so definitely liked it. Aside from the pepperoni preference.

Yelp
So I live in a different state and heard the hype about this little pizza place. Ok, it was my sister, but Kim's was high on her list of places to try. And the almost hour round trip to pick it up was totally worth it. This is great pizza. The aroma wafting out the door smelled so good. The ride home-torture. We placed our order at 4:30 on a Saturday and got a 7:15 pick up time. And then we wait. I love that it's one size pizza, you pick the toppings. We got one pepperoni--it's a baseline. And one sausage and mushroom. When we got home, the three of us each got a snack piece while we put the boxes right in the oven to help heat it up a tad and get plates, drinks, etc ready to go. One bite and we're all singing it's praises. The ronis have quite a kick and there are a lot of them. My preference would be fewer so they all turn into crispy cups. The sausage had great flavor. I was thrilled it wasn't full of fennel seeds. The crusts were perfectly crisp without being burnt. I definitely have plans to return.

Yelp
It was our first time to order from them and it just awesome pizza and great service. I'm sure we're gonna be ordering more often. if you like thin and crispy pizza it should be on top of your list. .
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
Pizza was great, but owner and service was horrible. No eye contact, no smiles, no nothing, and the owner looks like he needs to either expand more ovens, or take some time off, because his business model will bury him.
google avatar

Dave V.

Yelp
On our initial visit, we heeded Yelp's advice and ordered early and several pizzas. The place has plenty of parking but no place to eat. The pizzas are of medium size. We had some slices in the car. It is best to eat them hot. The thin crust and toppings were top-notch. After eating a few slices, the spice flavors were reminiscent of burnt black pepper. The flavor gradually intensifies and becomes spicy. The flavor accumulates, albeit not in a good way. I desired to eat more, but the flavor had reached my limit. We ordered a sausage pizza and a pepperoni pizza, both of which contained the same flavor. The leftover pizza is stored in the refrigerator. We will not be returning until that flavor changes. Disappointed

Yelp
Awesome tavern style pizza. I got burned the first time I tried to get pizza from here. More from my own lack of knowledge. I just stopped by and tried to get carry out. Now, I know you need to call when they first open to place your order. It's a small joint with just a few tables. Really not much room to dine in. We knew that from the previous visit, so we planned to picnic in the park. Got 4 pizzas to split between 8 people. Had plenty of leftovers. We ordered: - Italian Beef, onion, green pepper, giardiniera - hot soppressata & hot honey - cheese & garlic - sausage They apologized for the order being delayed. The Italian beef pizza was a little wet and took a bit to crisp up. Everyone's favorite was the Hot Honey and Hot Soppressatta. I would definitely get pizza from here again.

Yelp
Heard everything positive. Best thin crust pizza in the Chicago area and was so popular that you had to schedule your order or you wouldn't be able to order their pizza. It was thin and crispy and solid but not as great as some people have said. The workers are nice face to face but terrible over the phone
google avatar

Tony

Yelp
Yeah, when he once got two pizzas and was it really wasn't really good was it really like bar tab and pizza to me didn't have a lot of flavor. I might've just went on a bad night. Maybe I'll give him another try.

Maggie L.

Yelp
What a disappointment! 12.3.24 Hubby used to get pizza from their now closed Chi-town location and loved them. Needless to say he was so excited when they opened in Westmont and couldn't wait for me to try their pizza. Well... I don't care the person taking the order is abrupt, I care more about the food. Probably THE WORST cracker crust pizza that either of us have eaten. The crust was missing salt but not to worry, they dumped the salt shaker in the sausage. Also, I don't mind a little char but this pie was flat out burnt - ridiculous they would even put this in a box and call it pie, insulting. The sauce was good but eh, it's a complete picture that was completely lacking. Won't be back any time soon so enjoy yourselves.

Mike C.

Yelp
This place is a joke. If you're unfamiliar with Kim's Uncle, let me explain. They do have "good" tavern style pizza. At one point they had the reputation of having great pizza, but guess what.... a lot of other real good pizza places have come to be in the western Chicago burbs. So Kim's Uncle is no longer the greatest. They have plenty of good competition around them. Here's the thing though.... They have one pizza oven. For that reason, they can't keep up with orders. And they have one person manning the phone and that one person gets overwhelmed quickly to the point that you'll often get put on a long hold and maybe even hung up on. Basically, you need to call your order in the very second they open, because that one person who works the phone gets hit hard with calls the very second they open. Then, you have to hope that IF you get through on the phone they can get your order in a reasonable time frame, because again they only have 1 pizza oven. There will be times that your call won't even go through. There will be times when you get put on hold for 10 minutes only to be hung up on. There will be times you actually place an order, but then are told it won't be ready for 3 hours because 100 people are ahead of you. And then every now and then you'll get lucky and actually be able to order a pizza for pickup within an hour of making the call. Some people think this is fun and cool; hope that you get your call answered and hope to get a pizza by this great place. Maybe at one point it was cool, but there's way too much other good pizza within 5 minutes of this place for me to get "excited" about their awful customer service. They are clearly making a lot of money, so how bout buying a 2nd oven? How bout putting 2 people on the phones? Granted, I know places like Gene & Judes for example are also small and have long lines, but they have found a way to keep the lines moving fast and nobody is ever at risk of not getting food lol. For whatever reason, Kim's Uncle can't seem to figure this out. Im sorry, but wasting my time to end up NOT getting food is not "part of the experience" for me - it's just annoying. Especially when there's good pizza all over the place. The pizza here is probably an 8 out of 10 but it's NOT the greatest pizza on earth like some will say. Combine that with all the stuff mentioned above and this place is just not worth it.... such an overrated dump.
google avatar

Darl B.

Yelp
Solid. They gave me a very precise time so I showed up exactly at that time and... wasn't ready. But within 5 mins it was. Not a huge deal but if yer gonna walk the walk.... Anywho onto the pie. It's the ultimate in super cracker thin. Thinnest I've ever had. Sausage as my yelp beer loving friend Karen G here indicated is excellent. Because these are tavern size and thin order more than you think. Price on par with Aurelio's and the like. I'd hit this again. Do I wish they took online orders? Sure since I hate talking to people more than staff does loz. But if you like the style, you'll like this effort. Also was lil bit reminiscent of my youth and Barnabys which is a good pie today. Aw shucks now you got me all misty.

Yelp
The people at the place were very nice. We ordered a pizza half pepperoni half sausage. The crust was fantastic. The sauce was very spicy to the point nobody could eat it. It didn't even taste like it had any type of tomato in it. If you could perfect your sauce we will add more stars to your review. But out of 4 pizza connoisseur's that tried it, we all thought the sauce was not on point. It ruined the pizza.

Yelp
Second visit. Quicker wait time early. Ordered the Lenten pepper and egg pizza. This is 100% a must stop on the pepper and egg circuit. You better ask somebody.

Yelp
Insanely good extra crisp a little burnt thin thin crust pizza. Toppings were flavorful, cheese was salty and just right, crust like a chip. Perfection. In addition to the god-like pizza the team was so so so generous and kind to us when we walked in like a bunch of idiots. My lesson, that I now kindly share with you: give them a call at 3 to reserve a time to pick up your pizza- their specialty oven can hold 6-8 pizzas and takes 5ish min (I think?) to bake, so they need to stagger times to meet demand- that means walk ins probably won't be able to be served due to call in demand. But trust me, TRUST ME, it's worth it.

Yelp
Watched a Youtube video about this place some weeks ago. Placed an order last Friday. Pizza was ready right on time. We ordered 2 pizzas--one sausage and one anchovy and onion. Wow. Wow. Wow. It was even better than we imagined and that is saying a lot. In full disclosure, we live in Arlington Heights, and without a dining room there is a logistical heat issue. Thankfully we thought ahead and brought an insulated pizza bag. This place is a reason to move to Westmont, folks! Worth the hype.

Yelp
There's been a lot of hype about this place so we FINALLY decided to try it. As many reviewers point out there's one size, but several flavor combos. And from a flavor perspective, it is absolutely fantastic!!! The combinations of high quality cheese, sausage, pepperoni. The sauce is simply devine! For me, the only shortcoming is that the crust is just a bit too thin. The pizza translates less like a meal and more like an appetizer because of that. As a result one would have to spend a lot on multiple pizzas to feed a room. I have lived in Chicagoland all my life and tavern style pizza is the definition of pizza for me...had the square cut at many MANY places throughout the decades. I'm just used to a few more millimeters of dough (perhaps there are variations between West Side pizzas and South Side pizzas? Chicago is a diverse place and I grew up in the former). What's going on north of the crust is absolutely AMAZING. Those flavors are the picture of Italian-American foods in Chicago over the past century put on top of a pizza. If you're a late night cold pizza eater (guilty!) then you will enjoy this pizza as a midnight snack. In that capacity, the ultra-thin crust works well as you sneak though your kitchen in the dark for a tasty bite of mouth watering yumminess. It almost reminds me a bit of the pizzas you could get at Italian delis when I was a kid which we would eat more for brunch hours for visits to grandma's house. Often the pizza was cold when we got there but it was great that way. All in all, I feel like this goes more in the specialty pizza column.

Yelp
I was recently reading a NYT article regarding the 25 best restaurants in Chicago today, and when I came across the entry for Kim's Uncle Pizza, located in nearby Westmont, I knew I had to pay a visit to try this tavern style pizza...and I'm so glad I did! The pizza was phenomenal -- such a great thin and crispy crust, with a flavorful sauce and a generous set of hearty toppings, which all tasted juicy and delicious right out of the oven. We were lucky to get our orders in early enough, such that we could go ahead and eat inside the shop as soon as our pizzas came out of the oven (FYI, there are two tables inside and a couple outside as well). If you don't order way ahead of time, or decide to walk in when they open to place an order, you'll likely have to wait ~4 hours to get your pizza (their pickup time slots fill up incredibly fast, especially on the weekends!). So definitely plan ahead if you are looking to try this pizza, which I highly recommend!

Yelp
My family and I have been dying to try out Kim's Uncle Pizza for months after hearing rave reviews about the newly opened establishment. They do not open until 4pm, and every single time we called to place an order, the earliest time was past 9pm. Yesterday, my brother was able to place an order that would be ready at 7:45pm. Their pizza comes in one size, a 14 inch. We ordered half pepperoni and half sausage. They claim to have tavern style pizza; the crust was thin, almost cracker like and a bit burnt, but in the best way possible. Our pizza was absolutely delicious. Each element of the pizza was flavorful on its own, yet when put together was cohesive and melded together perfectly. Their tomato sauce had a rich flavor to it, and their sausage tasted fresh. It also had a bit of kick to it. Kim's Uncle is a small place, but it is very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. We will definitely be trying out the other toppings they offer.

Yelp
Been back twice since my first review. Tried the 1/2 Sausage 1/2 Italian beef topping with honey drizzle. The honey drizzle kicks it up a notch. You can get it on the side if you don't believe me. Next I tried all Italian beef, 1/2 sausagea, 1/2 giardenarra honey on the side. It was ok, wouldn't get the giardenarra again. But once again the honey kicked it up a notch. Than I tried the combination, Italian Beef, Italian Sausage, dipped with sweet peppers (you can get with mozzarella cheese). Man... this was phenomenal. My wife said it's better than portillos, now I love a good argument, I'm not saying it's better, I'm saying I didn't argue. Take from that what you will. They have 3 other sandwiches I will definitely try. The beef, the meatball and the Angry Chicagoan which is Italian Sausage with red sauce and peppers. I'll report back.

Yelp
Ordered carryout ASAP at 4pm on a Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Some of the best Thin crust pizza i have ever had. Everything is cripsy and damn good. Place is a bit small, nowhere really to sit, meant to be carryout. I Don't think they do delivery. Might be my new favorite place.

Yelp
My first visit last night, I've heard many people talking about KUP for a while, seeing them on channel 9 a while ago too. A friend told me to just call to see if they had an available time, I last night and tried 2 of their pizzas. I love pizza, thin crust is my favorite, KUP's nails the crust, super crispy, the crust has a unique and delicious flavor. The sausage has a nice fennel forward spicy flavor, the cheese and sauce round out a great cheese and sausage pizza. The second pizza was beef and hot giardiniera, delicious! The minute you get close to the doorway you get a heavenly pizza smell. The employees were friendly and they were having a good time behind the counter, that was so refreshing, it made me excited to try their pizza. I will be back soon and I will make sure my friends and family give KUP's pizzas.

Yelp
Edible at best !!! big chunks of sausage the size of a meatballs sauce has a weird taste ,the crust is ok it's like a cracker ! The meatballs are hard like gulf balls . I don't recommend I'd rather have L&f down the street. And the wait time is ridiculous definitely not worth it

Yelp
I ordered a large pizza with cheese & sausage. I was told it would take 45 minutes to pick up. I arrived at 50 minutes, and they had no idea about an order I placed. I gave them my name and phone number, and they said no order existed. They asked if I wanted my pizza made, but it would be about an hour before it was ready. I decided to hang around and noticed that the pizza lady recognized a customer and had come out from the kitchen prep area. She hugged the person, picked up their dog, and petted it as it licked her face. Then, after her friend left, she returned to the pizza prep area, not washing her hands, and continued making pizzas. I was disgusted and left. They never called and I will never return.

Yelp
I've been craving Chicago style pizza for a while and it was especially stoked when Kenji Lopez Alt posted about it on Instagram. We were considering other purveyors like Vito and Nik's but Kim's was an easier commute from the city for us. Due to the small interior, we grabbed the pizza and ate inside our van. The crust was thin and held up our toppings of sausage and green peppers. One pizza fed two adults perfectly. Keep in mind to order ahead because they have distinct pickup times. We called at 8 and the next pickup time was 8:55pm. Although it's a bit of a trek from downtown Chicago (we went out of our way to get here), the pizza was delicious and I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu when we're in the area.
