"A somewhat surprising Asian “taberna” in Bilbao with an informal atmosphere to make you feel at home and open your mind and tastebuds to new, interesting flavours from around the world. Owner-chef Iván Abril rethinks oriental cooking through techniques acquired in London and Hong Kong, but always using superb Basque products and varying the dishes he offers in line with seasonal ingredients. The backdrop of impeccable, contemporary taberna-style decor is partly inspired by Asian culture. The à la carte, featuring an array of simple yet tasty and well-balanced dishes (we particularly enjoy the fun Banh-mi: a Vietnamese snack with a brioche bun, Iberian pork cheek, pickles and foie gras powder), is complemented by a 7-course tasting menu that takes its name from the restaurant." - Michelin Inspector

one of my favorite meals in Bilbao. the fusion of Asian techniques with Basque ingredients creates such unique flavors that are so satisfying. as someone whose comfort food is Asian food, this gave me the nostalgia, but with a twist. every meal was very intentional, from the flavors to the presentation. i really loved it. very ambient and great atmosphere. our servers were great as well. if you like top notch, gourmet-level meals, this place is for you!

Tried their tasting menu. It started off really really well with an anchovie on toast but then unfortunately went down hill. Provided feedback that their main dishes came out way too hot and burned my tongue, which made enjoying the rest of the meal very tough. Definitely recommend the croquette and the bahn mi.

Every time I come here, the food only get better!! Recommend the steak tartare, but everything on the menu is 10/10 🙏

The best food experience you can have at a great price! I cannot emphasize how delicious all the plates were.

I’ll be frank: food here is pretty good, but it’s definitely, undeniably overpriced, and that’s the main reason why I give them 3 stars instead of 4. Is the food good quality? For sure. Staff were not the most helpful but they did overall fine. Food portions for the price are far too small, however tasty and well prepared. Restaurants don’t exist in a vacuum, and they can’t price their food pretending that no other establishments exist around every corner where one can eat similar quality food or just a tad below Kimtxu’s level, but paying easily one third less. I’m glad I tried this place, but I also see no reason to come back at these prices. I can eat similarly well and pay considerably less at many restaurants in Bilbao.

I had the 56 euro tasting menu and thought it was a fun experience but only some of the food i thought was stellar. I really liked: the pickles and soup at the beginning, tuna tartar, duck wontons, strawberry dessert. The rest I thought the flavors were a bit off or too salty. However the ambiance was excellent and the staff was so nice and friendly. Wi-Fi available

This place is a treat. We got the larger menu and it was absolutely fantastic. The food was innovative, different, and well executed. In addition, the service was 100% spot on. The flavors were well thought out and came together in interesting ways rarely seen outside of far more expensive restaurants. If you're in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit.

So I’ll have to be really honest here, the food was ok (had the tasting menu) but for me most dishes were a tad too salty. I was surprised this place was Michelin star, but I quickly realised that the Michelin only lasts one year (their star was from 2021). I’m used to a lot of asian cuisine so hopefully this acts as some basis of credibility but dishes were quite average to be brutally honest. I have had incredible food from pintxos bars or basque restaurants near here, and I’d recommend doing that (usually cost me €20-40 instead of going here for €60+). Dessert included in the course was too bland (it just tasted like cream) I felt like I fought my way through it. Staff are really lovely but just have to be honest with the food, especially for the price compared to other businesses here!

Yelp
Walked in at 12:45 pm on a Sat. & were seated after agreeing to free our table by 2:45 pm, as the restaurant was sold out. Had great service & was very please by this Basco-Asian fusion food! Great experience!

Yelp
One of those incredible dining experiences that leaves you with a glow. We were lucky to get a seat without reservations, right next to a window looking into the kitchen, so we got to watch the work behind the magic. After a couple minutes of struggle, the wait staff printed a copy of the menu in English for us. It ended up just being a road map, because we chose the 6 course chef's menu, and we were so glad we did. From the miso/jamon shooter as an appetitive, through starters like cuttlefish salad and marinated mackerel, ending in incredible main courses like a sou vide cod on cauliflower purée or the pork shoulder.... Each course was better than the last. Only two negatives... The dessert was a bit of a miss. A lemon meringue, the custard was to tart, and the almond cookie crust too salty. Also, the pace of dining was a bit rushed, and not the leisurely experience we've come to love about Spain. But those both were small complaints next to the wonderful dinner and incredible service. If you're in Bilbao, you must try this place.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place! We had an amazing diner here. We waiter suggested us how to build up our dinner. We had anchovis in yuzu and soy, asian style ceviche. Followed by refined dumplings and ox tail in canaloni. Mind blowing!

Yelp
This was probably one of the best dinners i had on our trip to spain. Its not really fusion food but more their version of asian dishes using local products. No English menus which is ok as we were still able to understand most of what the dishes were. Our waiter spoke some English and was very friendly and helpful. We had the dumplings that came in ham broth i believe. Pad thai. Hake and for dessert french toast with coconut cream. The dessert was so good we ordered another serving. Thank you for a great meal
